I’ve also tried both Intense Debate and Disqus in a side by side comparision and Disqus cam out of my favorite. While Intense has some nice features, I still think Disqus has the edge in functionality.

I don’t know how to tell you how very much I appreciate your taking the time out to research and post this valuable information.

I recently purchased a forum and although I am very familiar with WordPress, the “bbpress.org” instructions knocked me for a loop. They say code is poetry and it may well be to those familiar with it. Your instructions are exactly what I needed. Step-by-step.

You really need to turn this into a free report and collect email addresses for updates to people. Also, when you get the time contact me, I would like to contribute a donation to you for these instructions. You have saved me a great deal of time and helped me to learn something new that I can apply in the future.

I am not sure of that. You might want to ask wordpress about that. However I do know that domains booked through Google Apps allow you to set the “Forward with Masking” option.

With respect to “tweaking”… if I purchace the domain trough wp…. is it possible to tweeak it that way so it never mentions *wordpress* in te address bar….

My goal is to host at wordpress.com but not to have a mention of *wordpress*….

Hello Chronos. You can set the wordpress to redirect something.wordpress.com to your purchased domain name (which you should do if you are self-hosting and moving from something.wordpress.com to self hosted version of the site.)

However if you are using free wordpress for hosting then you just need to do the name server / cname settings on your domain as per the wordpress requirement. You will also have to tweak the “Forward with Masking” option at your domain’s end to tweak what gets displayed in the address bar. Hope this helps.

If I purchace the domain… I’m going to see only my domain name in the address bar… or it will redirect to something.wordpress.com

I hope the answer is no it will not redirect.

Does this apply for admin pages as well… ie.. when I’m writting the posts… what it says in the address bar?
