Even though it was not as painful as people has made it sound, I am going to share some moving-away tips for ya.
I moved in to an apartment so I will write about that.

Pick apartment in a quiet area if you're a student and need calm environment. Good way to rate an area is by spending some time hanging around it. One thing that annoys me, personally, is a barking dog, especially a high pitch barking dog.

Save money- have at least two months rent saved up and extra money for deposits and such. Your bills for the first month will be higher than usual because of deposits for new accounts. There are deposits for the electric and gas companies. It’s up to you if you want to get cable or some other services, they might charge an initiation fee as well.

Before you sign the contract make sure to check all faucets that might make noise and watch out for doors that might not lock

There are other things to watch out for such as holes in walls (you'll get charged for them when you move out), make sure to let your landlord know of any damages before you move in.

These are just some of the things I've noticed to be important but you should always keep your eyes open :)

Your,

Why it's difficult to find a good paying job in USA

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE INJAPAN)
for 6am.

While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with
his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).

He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA ), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE ) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA ).

After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet(MADE IN INDIA ) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO ) to see how much he could spend today.

After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS from Saudi Arabia and continued his search for a good paying American JOB.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his Computer (Made In Malaysia), Joe decided to relax for a while.

He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV(MADE IN INDONESIA), and then wondered why he can't find a good paying job in USA.

Yours,
<img style="FLOAT: left; Actually, these tidbits apply to any flight that is over a few hours long ... or, for that matter, for any flight which lasts longer than your attention span can handle!

Airlines will often provide some sort of in-flight entertainment -- especially on international flights (e.g. a movie, some magazines to read, and other mind-sapping activities). The most important things to remember on a long flight is planning your own activities since you may not be the least bit interested in the movie or magazines that the airlines have provided for your entertainment for the next 12 hours (yes, that is about the average time for international flights from the US to Asia, the EU, and abroad).

Time management: Perhaps you have some homework to do? Or, you are working on a project for your internship, or you have to pay bills for the past month? I could go on with the possibilities -- but, my intent here is to demonstrate that if you have detailed a short list of things you want to get done on the flight, the time will pass more pleasantly!

Focus on catching up in your Chemistry course (or whatever course is your tough course this semester). Read the last two chapters of that novel you've been meaning to finish for the past three months. Read a chapter, take a nap, and then read another chapter ... then save the worst for last: Chemistry Homework. Point is, have a plan for your flight. The longer the flight, the more you'll need to plan. One note of caution here: Don't bring 3 text books from school thinking you'll get 12 hours of homework done on a twelve hour flight. This is a bad idea for two reasons. First, you don't want to carry 50lbs of books on your back through the airport ... and second, on most flights you'll probably gaze out the window a lot and catch up on some zzz's too. So, a rule of thumb is that for a flight that lasts for 6 hours, bring about 3-4 hours of work to do. A twelve hour flight, bring ~6-8 hours of work.

As long as you have some stuff to do to pass the time, you'll have a much more enjoyable flight.

So, bring a small list of personal things to catch up on. Start with your list of things to do, then catch a catnap, and then when you wake up -- if you have still not arrived -- perhaps you can break down and watch that in-flight movie which is playing for the third time since you took off.

Planning your time for your next international flight is just as important as planning what you will do and where you will go when you arrive.

Enjoy your flight.

- Professor Gary

---------------------------------------
Gary Plourde is an independent author. It is probably the world's greatest time-saver. By realizing its capabilities and potential, the efficient use of this little device can help assist anyone in operating a profitable business.

All that is required are knowledge, persistence, patience and of course, a telephone.

Previous experience in the use of a phone for business purposes is helpful but not necessary. There are no age limits for starting such a business. Sex or race is not a barrier. Locationis unimportant, as long as you have a phone. Your home can be your "office" if you wish and you are your own boss. And in most instances, you can name your own working hours.

Using a telephone to earn money by working on a commission basis can be profitable. However, a firm agreement must be reached in advance to the exact amount of commission you can expect -based either on a percentage basis or flat fee. To advertise any of services use newspaper classified ads and/ or notice placed on bulletin boards throughout your community.

There are dozens of other ways to make money with a telephone. Study theYellow Pages of your local directory...and let your imagination run wild!

-When speaking on the phone, always be courteous.

-Since the person you are talking to cannot see your face or read your lips, always speak slowly and clearly.

-Make calls as brief as possible, but don't appear "abrupt".

-Never allow your voice to show disappointment in not obtaining an order. Your prospective customer may be pleased with your initial call and think of you the next time he may be in need of your services.

Yours,

High school vs college

1. Don't get noticed!

Don't attract attention to your vehicle by having loud exhaust, windows tinted too dark, etc.

2. Watch your speed!

Do not drive faster than the flow of traffic unless that flowis below the speed limit. Passing other vehicles always drawsattention. It may appear momentarily that you are speeding, even if you aren't.

3. Make complete stops at stop signs.

Your state may require you to stop at a line or at a point, before entering the intersection, where you can clearly see traffic. Either way, you must stop. Make sure the intersection is clear before starting out. Be prepared to stop at yield signs if necessary. Unless you can clearly see traffic, and know no vehicles are coming, treat the yield sign like a stop sign.

4. Keep lights in good repair.

Burned out headlight sor tail lights just can't be missed at night. Remember; once the officer has you stopped he can find other things to talk to you about like the driver's license you left at home, or the insurance card you can't find, etc.

5. Carry all required documents: Driver's license, title, registration, insurance.

6. Don't have loud mufflers.

7. Don't have windows tinted too dark.

8. Don't carry oversized loads.

9. Don't overload vehicle with passengers, especially the front seat.

10. Don't throw things from the vehicle.

11. Don't give the officer a hard time for doing his job.

12. If you think you been "locked-on" by radar, slow down. It may not help, but it won't hurt either.

13. Police officers can spot expired inspection stickers, license plates, and other deficiencies from a great distance!

Yours, Smiley

Stay Together For the Kids

In todays' society, especially in United States, more than half of the marriages end up in divorce.

There are numerous reasons for two married people to split their lives. Either they grow apart and do not adapt to each others' changes, stop loving each other as they once did, or simply cannot live with each other in harmony.

It is very common for kids to think that it is somehow their fault that their parents got divorced.
Many times adults like to involve kid's names in their arguments and fights.

Some get angry because of some responsibility that they have to take care of that has to do with the kid. All these issues affect the little ones.

Tons of pressure is usually build up before the actual divorce which leads to create some negative energy around the house and affect the kids.

Kids may feel a variety of different feelings during the divorce process. They may feel afraid, sad, even relieved. There's a question of which side to take and who to blame, who is right and who is wrong. Some children are barely affected.

Unfortunately most of the kids that go through their parent's divorce are affected emotionally as well as physically. Because of their parent's separation, there's a definite lack of the positive image of the family that they live up to. Their parents are all they have for that perfect role model to look up to. As kids grow up they are in a constant search of that perfect family with no worries, the family they never had.

As adults they will usually blame themselves because of the failure of finding that perfect family and will never be satisfied with what they have, wishing for more.
Also, a boy will usually date a girl who behaves in a certain ways as his mom did and vise versa. If that boy comes from a broken family, that female figure of the perfect mother is distorted and as a man he will most likely have a negative outlook on women.

Many adults are selfish and don't usually try to work things out. They should.
If two parents really care about their child they should do whatever they can to save their marriage.

Single parenting is not only hard emotionally but also very difficult to accomplish. A parent has to get two or even more jobs, struggle for life and the life of their child.
"Normal" family usually has dinner on the table, parents usually go to kids' soccer practice and school plays, and they show up at birthday parties and so on.

When parents are separated, that big, and important part of kid’s life is gone. Mom usually has no time to go to school events because she has to work two jobs and has no money for school pictures. After all, kids have to settle for frozen dinner.
What about children who are raised from the beginning by a single mom?
These kids usually develop hatred towards the missing gender. Later in life girls are less likely to settle unless the relationship is perfect because they don't want to put their kids through the pain of divorce and consequences that come with it. Sometimes they will date a large amount of people thinking that leaving the person is completely fine. During the actual divorce kids seem to do at their worst in school and socially. Teenagers might even commit suicide blaming the divorce on themselves.

Parents don't need to get along, they don’t need to like each other, they just need to stay together for the kids. By not separating, they give their kids a good example of how to deal with problems and how to overcome such great obstacles in life. Kids learn the importance of teamwork and compromise.

It is true that kids are most affected between the ages of two and five. Any events that happen in that time span will reflect on how they will live for the rest of their life. If parents divorce at that time and the kid sees that "mommy" and "daddy" practically hate each other then that's what kind of outlook they will have later in life.

With the divorce there are many things that follow. The actual process is extremely long emotionally and legally. Constant fights, daddy is gone most of the time, mommy is crying behind closed doors and then one day, a kid comes home and it's just doesn’t seem the same anymore.

Daddies ship collection is gone along with other things, the house is just seems half empty. After that many legal actions come in place. Both parents have to show up at the court. Then the question of dividing the property comes in and of course who gets the custody of the child. A kid feels like he or she is being tossed between two parents. Mommy-Monday trough Friday and Daddy is on the weekends. That by itself is extremely hard on both parents and a child.
Parents are sometimes forced to see each other they create even more problems affecting the child.

Whether parents want it or not, it is best to stay together and try to work things out. Not only will it save both adults a good amount of time and money but they will also affect the live of their child in a positive way. Some people through themselves in the divorce not thinking through the whole process. If they just wait they might forgive each other and start all over. The life of the child will be so much better in the future. The kid will have a positive role model and an ideal family to live for, they will be proud that they have such a strong family and will always look up to their parents. In the end , it is clear that divorcing between two people does not lead to anything good, only pain, loss of money and time.

Staying together for the kids is the key for a healthy family in American society.

California Slide Fire, October 23 2007

California Slide Fire: Three videos from my Journey back to my home on October 23rd 2007:

I will post more pictures later today (11:15 am -- pix are now posted at the end of this article).

First, here is a map of the 'Slide Fire' as of Oct24'07, 2am . This part of the trip took ~5 hours ... dirt roads and only about 5 mph

Slide Fire video 1 - taking the 1N09 the back way to get into Running Springs, CA via Rt. 330N

______________________________________________
Almost there ... now I just have to speed through some fire... no joke.... to get through to Arrowbear.

Slide Fire video 2 - Coming off the 1N09 and heading up Rt 330 N. This video cuts off because not only did the smoke get thick (you can't see it clearly in the video but as the elevation increases, it gets darker and smokier); but also, about 1 minute after I turned off the camera, there was fire on both sides of my car -- you could feel the heat radiating thru the windows!

______________________________________________
Finally, I arrive home to get some valuables and spray my yard and home with H20 (yes, I knew it wouldn't help).

Slide Fire video 3 - Behind my house in Arrowbear just east of Rt.18. Although in the video I say the fire is only about 0.5 miles away, the fire is actually 1, perhaps 2 miles, west of where I'm standing.

______________________________________________

Finally, here are pictures taken from 7p to 11p on October 23rd 2007 from the hill behind my house. These are all facing west. The Santa Anna winds are blowing from east to west (luckily) as the fire is moving from west to east. You can see that the fire gets progressively more intense as night falls and the fire comes over the ridge east toward the village of Arrowbear Lake, CA.

7pm Oct 23'07

9pm Oct 23'07

9pm Oct 23'07(2)

9.30pm Oct 23'07

10pm Oct 23'07

10.30pm Oct 23'07

To give you a sense of what it was like where I was standing -- only a mile or two away from hell itself ... and only a possible few hours from the flames coming over Rt. 18 (just 100-200 ft. below where I am standing) and taking over my back yard -- I give the following description of the night:

When I was taking the above pictures, there was no electricity (turned off for a 'Declared state of Emergency'); a cool Santa Anna wind was blowing in from the east; and the red & yellow colored leaves of fall were falling down quietly from the trees; sardonically, or perhaps emblematically, at about 9pm PST an owl flew into my yard and perched on an Oak tree above my head ... he came directly from the west, fleeing the inferno. The sky above me was crystal clear filled with stars and an almost Full Moon.

- Professor Gary

---------------------------------------
Gary Plourde is an independent author. email account. Many students may not use their .edu email, or perhaps they don't even realize that they've been assigned one?!

One example is Lufthansa's Generation Fly program. Lufthansa has deeply discounted fares for college students. To receive the discounts, you have to provide a .edu email address as proof that you are in college. Also, you can't cheat and just make up an address, or use some old college email address that you are not authorized to use -- because they will send an email to your .edu email address ... which you must then retrieve and follow the instructions to verify your identity.

Other examples of student benefits and discounts from having a .edu email address include:

Movies, train tickets, bus tickets, and the list goes on and on ...

Many places will simply ask for your student ID card. However, some will ask you to register online; and as part of their verification process, you will need to type in your .edu email address.

Some colleges let you use your .edu email account for a period of time after graduation; and many graduate programs often give you unlimited access to your email after graduation. Either way, your .edu benefits need not disappear on graduation day. Check with your college's IT administrator (or else the college's PC technical support) to find out how long you can benefit from your email address.

If nothing else, it doesn't hurt to ask if there is a discount available for students (e.g. when buying a train ticket, movie tickets, etc). If you are standing in line, or buying the tickets in person, you will most likely be asked to present your valid student ID. However, if you are buying online, you may be asked to type in an active .edu email address.

There are many more benefits and discounts available to students that are well beyond the scope of this little article -- but, as a college student, I recommend that you check into the myriad of advantages that come with .edu email ownership!

- Professor Gary

---------------------------------------

Gary Plourde is an independent author. Like many such freshman courses, it was designed to weed out new students, having over 700 students in the class!

The examination was two hours long, and exam booklets were provided. The professor was very strict and told the class that any exam that was not on his desk in exactly two hours would not be accepted and the student would fail.

1/2 hour into the exam, a student came rushing in and asked the professor for an exam booklet. -"You're not going to have time to finish this," the professor stated sarcastically as he handed the student a booklet.

-"Yes I will," replied the student.

He then took a seat and began writing. After two hours, the professor called for the exams, and the students filed up and handed them in. All except the late student, who continued writing.

1/2 hour later, the last student came up to the professor who was sitting at his desk preparing for his next class. He attempted to put his exam on the stack of exam booklets already there.
-"No you don't, I'm not going to accept that. It's late."

The student looked incredulous and angry.

-"Do you know WHO I am?"

-"No, as a matter of fact I don't," replied the professor with an air of sarcasm in his voice.

-"DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" the student asked again.

-"No, and I don't care." replied the professor with an air of superiority.

-"Good," replied the student, who quickly lifted the stack of completed exams, stuffed his in the middle, and walked out of the room

Yours,

Part-time business for students: mail order reports

The sure fire way to make money with a personal computer.

If your computer is taking up desk space but not bringing you any extra income, it's time for you to put that machine to work for you. Once you've read through the following suggestion, you will have lots of great ideas on how to use your computer to make money.

Mail Order Reports

Fads and trends come and go, but one thing that will always sell is information.

Just walk through your local book store or library and notice how many self-help, diet and how-to books there are. This should give you a feel how hungry consumers are for this type of information. Once you've read through a few of these types of books, you should know enough about the subject to write a brief five to ten page report.

With the computer, you can make the report look very professional through the use of page numbers, double columns, pull quotes in the middle of the pages, and a bold catch title.

When the paper is complete, it's time for you to begin the marketing procedure.

Take out an ad in the classified section of your local newspaper. Word the advertisement so that customers will be enticed to send you a check to learn more about the subject. Here are a few examples.

Tired of reading through useless diet books? TRY THE SECRETS OF CONTROLLING YOURWEIGHT. Just send $9.95 to...

Plumbers charge over $100 dollars to make a house call. BE YOUR OWN PLUMBER, a newinformed book, costs only $9.95. To order, send to...

Since printing costs will be minimal most of the money you collect will go directly to profit. And, since these reports are easy to produce, you can use some of that income to write and print a new report and sell it the same way. See how easy it is to make the whole thing snowball?

Here are some more subjects you can easily write brief reports and sell through the mail:
* How To Grow A Garden
* Selected Mexican Recipes
* Stop Smoking
* How To Paint Your House
* Mail-Order Marketing
* Making Your Own Patio Furniture
* Camping Made Easy
* Easy Baking Techniques

If some of this appeal to you, think of something else. Just remember, the idea must appeal to a wide arrange of customers or you will not sell enough products to defray your production costs.

Yours,

Part-time job for students-Wake-Up&Reminder service

The telephone plays an important and necessary role in almost every business, no matter how large or small. The telephone can also become your "business partner".

By realizing its capabilities and potential, the efficient use ofthis little device can help assist anyone in operating a profitable business.

"Wake-Up" service

Some find if difficult to get out of bed and ready for work when the alarm clock rings. An unusual service is to phone these subscribers at a pre-arranged time each work day morning.

If they must walk to another part of their home to answer the phone, they are certain to become fully awake. A good method to get such a service started is by advertising that you will offer a free weeks trail of service for such Sleepy heads..

Reminder service

Busy homemakers as well as overworked executives are fearful of forgetting important dates such as birthdays, anniversaries, business appointments, etc. By making notes on an ordinary calendar, you can phone several days in advance to remind them of the important occasion.

Some people will want to be listed for only 10 or 15 calls a year, while some businesses will have a 100 or more such dates. Your rates should be based on the number of "reminder" calls for a given period.

Who else may benefit from your wake up service?

- People who forget to take their prescription pills -with your reminder call they will never miss their medication again.

- Doctors can send appointment reminders to their patients

- Serious eBayers with your help will remember about their important bids

-Some concerned persons wish to keep informed as to the health and condition of relatives, friends and neighbors. These are generally those people that live alone and may be ill, invalids, senior citizens and such.

You will be required to phone these people at pre-arranged times (usually once or twice a day), to check if all is well. If there is some of emergency or no response to your call, you should immediately notify the subscriber. There are those that will pay a good price for such service simply for their own "peace of mind".

Yours,

Adult Childhood Stories- Alice in Wonderland

Hopefully all of us have heard, in some way or another, about Alice in Wonderland.

This wonderful story is full of fruitful imagination and extraordinary characters. As a child I read the story and I loved it.

Recently, however, I re-read it again, as an adult...an oh boy,
it's a whole new story!

Instead of my philosophical babble, I found some quotes from Alice in Wonderland that you might enjoy.

Read On My friends:

'That's nothing to what I could say if I chose,' the Duchess replied, in a pleased tone.

'I wonder if I've been changed in the night? Let me think: was I the same when I got up this morning? I almost think I can remember feeling a little different But if I'm not the same, the next question is 'Who in the world am I?' Ah, that's the great puzzle!"

'If it had grown up,' she said to herself, 'it would have made a dreadfully ugly child; but it makes rather a handsome pig, I think.'"

'That's the reason they're called lessons, because they lessen from day to day. '

"The White Queen: 'Can you do addition? What's one and one and one and one and one and one and one and one and one and one? '
Alice: 'I don't know. I lost count.'"

MY FAVORITES:

"Alice: But I don't want to go among mad people.
The Cat: Oh, you can't help that"

"Mad Hatter: No wonder you're late. Why, this watch is exactly two days slow."

Alice falls down the rabbit hole and her dress poofs up like a parachute
"Alice: Well, after this I should think nothing of falling down stairs"

I hope you, as I, see Alice in Wonderland in a whole different light. Want to have more time for relaxation and visiting with family and friends during the upcoming Christmas break? Then this article is custom ordered just for you!

Holidays are supposed to be a time to relax and drink eggnog, meet with your old friends from high school, and visit family -- but, as you have probably noticed during your college years, Christmas break can be a bit too short.

One way to increase your quality time with friends and family -- or maybe just to give you the extra napping time that you've been depriving yourself of during this stressful semester -- is to make a list of the important things you have to do.

Focus on getting one or two things done per day, and schedule your time so that you get these important things done early, making the rest of your day (or week) free to relax, sleep, visit with friends, smoke some eggnog, or get to that fashionable party that you're expected to make an appearance at this weekend. Notice that the skill of time management also applies to other times of the year besides Christmas!

Planning ahead and making a list of important 'things-to-do' will return remarkable savings in both your energy levels AND the amount of time you have each day.

Another easy way to illustrate planning ahead is to start your Christmas shopping at the end of October, and plan to have it finished before Thanksgiving! Some people I know start even earlier in the year. In fact, I personally started my Christmas shopping at the end of September and have only 2 more gifts to buy.

It can't be overstated, the amount of stress and aggravation you will save yourself by getting your Christmas shopping completed - one or even two months BEFORE the holidays arrive - are enormous. Think of the lines, the traffic, and not to mention how businesses bump up prices during the holidays simply to accommodate our holiday spending habits.

Planning ahead is the key to having plenty of well deserved time for fun and relaxation! Make a list of the 10 most important things you need to get done (or people you need to see, or whatever) during the upcoming holiday, next semester, or during your next visit back home; make a schedule; and make plenty of time to relax, see a movie, visit family, or chat with an old friend.

Enjoy the holidays, have a smoother time getting things done next semester,
and enjoy life ...

So, Relax!

- Professor Gary

---------------------------------------
Gary Plourde is an independent author. Drink plenty of water. Everybody says it but so few actually do it. I found it easier to drink more if you set a realistic goal. For example, go out and buy a 1.5 or a 2 liter bottle of water. Refill it and set a goal to drink one whole bottle of water a day.

2. Eat healthy snacks in between the meals. Go out and buy a healthy snack bar with a minimum sugar added. Also, a bag of grapes or baby carrots is an excellent snack as well.

3. Eat slower, chew food thoroughly. It takes ~15 minutes for us to feel full. By chewing your food and eating slower you will feel full faster.

4. Reduce your portion size. If you get a large sandwich you feel obligated to finish it unless you absolutely stuffed. The goal here is to feel satisfied and full, not stuffed to the point of having your top pants button undone.

5. Eat low glycemic index (GI) foods. Or at least mix low and high glycemic index foods together for a better effect. Your blood sugar doesn’t rise as fast and therefore doest fall as fast either-> you do not feel hungry for a longer period of time. For list of low and high GI foods click here. Try these tips, they work!

Happy Eating,

Calculating the Gratuity: How much should you Tip at a restaurant?

Big Figs,

Tipping at a restaurant ...

Ever wonder how much you should leave as a tip at a restaurant? This article will provide a quick and easy reference -- and you'll be able to do it in your head the next time ... instead of embarrassing everyone when you bust out your cell phone calculator!

If it's breakfast, lunch, or some other small meal, the rule of thumb is a 10% tip.
For example, if your bill is $23.00, to calculate the tip -- just move the decimal ONE place to the LEFT. So, the tip here is $2.30. Leave two ones and the loose change in your pocket as the tip. As you might have guessed, I'm starting you out with an easy one just to get you warmed up!

For Dinner, the rule of thumb is 15% gratuity. For example, do the same thing that you did for breakfast, and then add half to that: if your dinner bill is $63.00, to calculate the tip -- just move the decimal ONE place to the LEFT ($6.30) & add half of that ($3.15). So, the tip here is $6.30 + $3.15 = $9.45. Leave a ten as gratuity. Not too crazy with the math, right?

If you have a party of 6 or more -- or, if it was superb service, you will want to consider tipping 20% as the gratuity. So, let's say you had dinner, your server waited on you hand and foot, and you're feeling a bit festive ... and you want to give 20% as the tip. This one is just as easy as calculating breakfast: if your dinner bill is $93.00, to calculate the tip -- just move the decimal ONE place to the LEFT ($9.30) & double it. So, the tip here is $9.30 X 2 = $18.60. Leave $18 or $19 as gratuity. Or, if your party was really demanding, or the service, atmosphere and food at the restaurant was out of this world - then leave a $20!

The point is, calculating the tip is super easy! You just move a decimal place to the left (10%); move a decimal place left and add half (15%); or move the decimal once to the left and double (20%) -- all of which are mathematical gymnastics that can be done in your head to get to the gratuity. After all, you are a college student -- and you'll need to be able to show the relatives at Christmas that your parents aren't paying all that tuition for nothing!

You are a smart college student, so use your head -- not the cell phone calculator!
You'll look much more educated, and ... if you are on that first date you will be sure to impress him or her with your top-level Mathamagician skills. When they ask you: "How did you calculate the tip so easily?" you can reply in a cool and suave tone: "Ohh, I'm just good with numbers I guess". Guaranteed to land that second date!

- Professor Gary

---------------------------------------
Gary Plourde is an independent author. (this one just to look because we can't even afford half of dress there :)), American Eagle.

Well, by the time we got to the shopping heaven we realized we were hungry. It didn't take us long to find a cute French crepe café accordingly called "Crepe de Paris." We had a nice luch with a real sugar cane sour apple soda.

Alright, now we are ready- Bring it On!

Ann Taylor was our first stop- after aimlessly wandering around the store for good 7 minutes we realized that we're too young for the clothes.

Sephora was next (can you tell our schedule idea didn't work too good?), oh Sephora, why are you such a perfect girl store, why are you filled with aroma and free testers?
One day if I'm rich I will buy the whole store.

Then something happened on our journey to Forever 21- we found a boutiqe, a gold mine for a unique clothes lovers. We thought it was heaven because every piece of clothes was perfect!

Did I say I want to buy Sephora? I meant Sephora and the boutique :)

We found almost everything we were looking for and the best part is that each piece of clothing was around $30- not bad, huh?

Forever 21 was a crowded, loud, disorganized slob compare with this baby.

Satisfied with bags in each hand we stopped by the coffee shop to celebrate our wonderful shopping luck. Earl Grey for her and a pecan latte for me please..

Five hours of walking, you can imagine our feet were falling off at that point.

Short drive and we're back in a home town, one more stop-Walmart!

Yes, although we had wonderful experience with priceless clothes back in the shopping heaven, they don't sell sponges and razor refills.

I was also able to buy tights that I couldn't find anywhere.

So there, I hope you have as much fun shopping as I had today!

Enjoy your life!

How to develop a winning attitude

What does it take in our everyday lives to be successful?

It is probably safe to assume that anyone reading this article wants to be successful. However, only 5% of the population will ever reach their potential for all activities, 95% of the people will never truly be successful.

There are a few characteristics that you must have in common with other successful people in order to achieve true success.

Goals are the single most important factor in achieving success. Without a realistic goal, how will you ever know when you have reached your success level. All successful people set goals. All goals must be realistic, short term, measurable and obtainable within the bounds of your own perception.

A positive attitude is the second factor that successful people have in common.
I have never met a truly successful person who I would consider a "self made" success that did not have a positive attitude. These people relate to the world on a positive basis. They always look for the "can do" not the "can not do" side of every situation. "If you think you can or if you think you can't, you're right."

"Thinking is the hardest work there is, which is the probable reason why so few engage in it." -Henry Ford

Man's ability over all other creatures on this Earth is the ability to think. All successful people use this talent to improve their lives and control their own destiny. Only you can take the initial step toward the unleashing of the power within your own mind. The power is awesome and at times can be frightening. However, man has abilities of the mind that many people can not or would not believe.

Anthony Robbins has written a book entitled "Unlimited Power" which explains in simple termsthe theories of Neuro Linguistic Programming, the power of the mind and how to gain control and use it. NLP was originally developed by John Grinder and Richard Bandleras a communication system using the central nervous system. Through this system Mr.Robbins has put forth a complete outline on how to unleash your "performance power"and achieve goals that before you probably felt were impossible.

The first step in using your true mental abilities is understanding what Mr.Robbins refers to as the seven triggering mechanisms that is sure success.

1. Passion - All truly successful people have a driving force within them that sets them apart from others. A desire, an energy that gives them thefuel to reach their true potential. This force is a part of them 24 hours a day, seven days aweek. It never subsides.

2. Belief - "They can because they think they can"-Virgil.

The truth of life is that man'slimits are self imposed by what the mind is given to believe. If you expand your belief of your own abilities, you will also expand your true realm of accomplishment.

A man of whom all are aware, lived his life with adversity, but he constantly believed he could achieve.

-Failed in business at age 31
-Was defeated in a legislative race at age 32
-Failed again in business at age 34
-Overcome death of sweetheart at age 35
-Had a nervous breakdown at age 36
-Lost an election at age 38
-Lost a congressional race at age 43
-Lost a congressional race at age 46
-Lost a congressional race at age 48
-Lost a Senatorial race at age 55
-Failed to become Vice President at age 56
-Lost a Senatorial race at age 58
-Was elected President of the United States at age 60

With all the adversity that faced him, President Abraham Lincoln had no reason to continually try other than the fact that he believed it was his destiny and measure of success to accomplish this task.

"Man is what he believes" -Anton Checkhov

3. Strategy - A strategy is your game plan of life. The road map you will use to accomplish your goals, ambitions and desires. The key to strategy is to design a proper strategy to achieve your success without the detours of life, to find the shortest distance between two points.

4. Clarity of Values - Man must first determine which things in life are most valuable to him. He must determine his feeling about such things as patriotism, pride, love, freedom, excellence, ownership and tolerance. These are values in society, the moral, ethical and fundamental judgements that we, as individuals, deem important.

Without a clear system of values for ourselves, it is impossible to believe in something with a passion that has no value to us. Once we have established our individual value system we are then able to determine how we can achieve success based on our priority ofvalues.

5. Energy - Great success cannot be separated from physical, spiritual and mental energy that allowsus, compels us, to accomplish the most with what we have to work with.

6. Bonding Power - We have all known people that have exhibited the ability to get along with anyone and everyone. The ability to be a chameleon is truly the ability to connect with and bond with others. The ability to build rapport.

7. Mastery of Communication - To take charge and run your own mind. To learn the techniques of NLP and no longer allow our mind to run our lives, but rather take chargeof our own mental abilities and cause them to work for our own accomplishment of success.

"There is only one Success - to be able to spend your life in your own way." - Christopher Morley

Yours,

Whatever happens-happens for a reason

A while ago I learned to not stress out over things too much. While some may call it a lack of responsibility, I have a different take on it.

It seems like nobody has time these days because of our fulfilled life (from school to kids). I ask to stop and think next time you're frustrated or upset.

Could there be a possibility whatever bothers you happened for a good reason?

This is just a matter of reasoning;
you can't find your keys-->you're late--> accident of the freeway happens.
If you were on time, perhaps you could be involved (directly or not).

This concept also applies to relationships. There's a reason behind actions, whether they are obvious to you or known only to the person who performs that action. Sometimes you say that there's no good reason why people do things. Yes, it is true, but keep in mind that what doesn’t make sense to you, makes perfect sense to others.

Also, it is sometimes difficult to verbally explain reasoning behind actions, even if the explanation is clear in the mind. Other people may find it difficult to explain their reasoning.

Bottom line is, whatever happens-happens for a reason

Or for my optimists out there:

Whatever happens- Happens for the better (that's the one I like)

So next time you're angry or sad, take time to think things through...Don't feel sorry for yourself, but really think about the line of events.

Remember: there's always somebody worse off then you are so appreciate what you have.

Yours,
