6.000 jaunas studiju vietas

Sakarā ar lielo studentu skaitu, Dānijas izglītības ministrija ir piešķīrusi papildus 210 milijonus DKK, lai izveidotu 6.000 jaunas studiju vietas, nodrošinot visiem studētgribētājiem iespēju studēt.

Dānija ir arī valsts, kurā studijas ir bez maksas un visi pilna laika studenti saņem stipendiju, tai skaitā arī ārzemju studenti, turklāt Dānijas stipendijas ir visaugstākās pasaulē, proti 6.321 DKK mēnesī (apm. 833 EUR). Tādēļ studijas ir ne tikai investīcija nākotnē, bet arī finansiālais nodrošinājums pandēmijas laikā.

Tas izrādījās pareizais lēmums, kad jau pagājušogad mēs Parlamentā vienbalsīgi nolēmām piešķirt finansējumu 2.000 papildus studiju vietām. Vairāk dāņu, mazāk ārzemnieku

Šogad, tāpat kā pagājušogad, ir interesanta situācija – pieteikušies ir krietni vairāk dāņu studentu, un mazāk ārzemju, kas nozīmē, ka starp kursabiedriem būs vairāk dāņu jauniešu nekā parasti! 

Tas nenoliedzami, ir saistīts ar pandēmiju, jo parasti dāņu jaunieši pēc vidusskolas gadu pavada ārzemēs – ceļojot vai strādājot, bet šogad un pagājušogad tas, pandēmijas dēļ, nav iespējams, tādēļ jaunieši izvēlas uzreiz pēc vidusskolas iet studēt.

Pec 5. jūlija būs zināms kopējais studentu skaits, jo vēl notiks pieteikšanās uz brīvajām studiju vietām un Top-up programmām!

VIA’s report on the occupation and unemployment rates of VIA graduates from 2015 shows that graduates from VIA Design go  directly into the labour market. One year after graduation, around half of the graduates have found employment while around one in four of the graduates have chosen to continue their studies. The  average monthly gross income of an employed graduate from VIA Design is 23,197 DKK (approx. 3118 EUR) one month after graduation.

88,078 have applied for admission to a higher education programme. That is 7,312 more than the former record from 2012. . Higher Education Minister Morten Østergaard is pleased with the increase: It is crucial to the future of Denmark that our level of education keeps pace with the development and the demand. Denmark needs innovative young people with ideas and enterprise which can be converted to new solutions and jobs and thereby ensure continued growth and prosperity. The number of applicants this year is a token of our young people being highly motivated for getting an education and a token of us being on the right track with respect to the government’s aim of the best educated generation ever. Therefore, I am very satisfied with the number of applicants, says Morten Østergaard. .

According to the Corruption Perceptions Index 2012, Denmark is the least corrupt country. The index ranks countries on a scale from 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean). No country has  a perfect score and two-thirds of countries score below 50.

The organisation behind the index, Transparency International, explains that the index shows that still many societies and governments need to give a much higher priority to corruption.

The Legatum Institute 2011 Prosperity Index ranks Denmark as the country with the world’s strongest entrepreneurial climate in terms of citizens’ opportunity to realise new ideas and influence their lives, incomes and well being.

The Entrepreneurship & Opportunity index measures countries’ performance in three areas:

Vispopulārāka programma šogad ir Marketing Management programma, bet zemāko popularitāti ir ieguvišas inženierzinātņu un tehnoloģiju programmas.

Vislielākā konkurence uz studiju vietām šogad bija augstskolas Business Academy Aarhus Marketing Management studiju programmā.

Piebildīsim, ka katrā programmā konkrētajā augstskolā ir vieta tikai 5-7 studentiem no vienas valsts, tādēļ konkurenci nosaka tas, cik latviešu šajā gadā piesakās konkrētajā programmā un augstskolā.

Mutimedia Design un Hospitality Management arī katru gadu ir vienas no pieprasītākajam studiju programmām. Multimediju programmu angļu valodā piedāvā 8 augstskolas, kas nozīmē, ka arī šajā programmā vietu parasti netrūkst. Grūtāk ir ar Hospitality and Tourism Management programmu, kur vietu skaits ir ierobežots – šo programmu piedāvā tikai 5 augstskolas, kas nozīmē, ka kopējais studiju vietu skaits ir tikai 25 studentiem no Latvijas.

Tiem, kam vietas nepietiek, var izvēlēties vienu no citām ar tūrismu un servisu saistītām studiju programmām, piemēram:

Service Management,
Leisure Management,
Natural and Cultural Heritage Management,
Commerce Management.

Architectural Management (9%)

Architectural Management programma arī parasti ir viena no populārākajām latviešu jauniešu vidū. To piedāvā 4 augstskolas, kopā 20 studiju vietas.

THINK-PLAY-PARTICIPATE

Students in Denmark are expected to play an active role in their own learning process. Apart from attending traditional lectures, students engage in  project work and are encouraged to participate in open discussions with their teachers and fellow students.

Project work & problem based learning

As a student in Denmark you will attend lectures, study independently and undertake projects – on your own and in groups of students. These projects will challenge you to think  freely, to use your initiative and be creative. They will also give you experience in using new knowledge to solve complex real-world problems.

What a typical week look like

You are very surprised when you receive compliments about ANYTHING – including your appearance/clothing! In fact when you do, you find it suspicious and start thinking they might have ulterior motives.

You’ve completely forgotten what a “date” is – no one ever comes to pick you up and unexpected gifts are VERY unexpected.

You don’t think it strange that no one ever comes by to visit without being invited and you never show up at any one’s place unannounced either.

You wouldn’t dream of coming even 10 minutes early to a party. (Once around the block is always an alternative)

You find yourself lighting candles when you have guests – even if it is brightly sunny outside and 20 degrees.

You offer people strange-tasting brown alcoholic liquids with their coffee in the MORNING!

1. Scoffing at boring or menial tasks

• If you excel at the boring tasks you are assigned and do them with a smile, you may be given more interesting assignments. When you start as an intern, you have to prove yourself in the work world. If you do a great job on the boring work, pay attention to detail, follow instructions, and care about quality, you’re more likely to be trusted with more interesting work. So it’s important to go into the job determined to do every task well, no matter how menial.

2. Dressing inappropriately

• If you look like you’re dressing for a class rather than a job, it will seem like you don’t take your job seriously. Pay attention to how the higher-ups in your office dress and mirror that level of formality. Flip-flops, exposed midriffs, and visible bra straps are generally not appropriate for the office.

3. Ignoring the office culture

• Office culture is the invisible force that tells you how things are done around here. You can pick up on it by observing how others in the office behave. For example, if people lower their voices when taking phone calls or avoid walking through the halls on the phone, do the same. If they’re precisely on time for meetings, you should be as well. While these things may sound small, they’ll help you come across as someone who fits into a professional setting.

4. Being too casual

• Even informal workplaces tend to be formal and interns need to adapt. This means, don’t put your feet up on your desk, use text-speak in emails, swear, or use cavalier phrases like “my bad” when you realize you made a mistake.

5. Segregating yourself with the other interns

• It might be tempting to hang out with your peer group, but make sure that you get to know other employees as well, including those who are older. More experienced co-workers are generally better positioned to give you career advice, help you connect to a future job, and provide references.

6. Not asking for feedback

• If your manager doesn’t offer feedback, ask him/her how your doing and what you could do better. Also, welcome critical and corrective feedback; that’s how you’ll learn and get better at what you do.

7. Neglecting to thank people who help you

• If a co-worker takes the time to help you learn something, make sure you offer a sincere thank you. Someone who feels appreciated is more likely to go out of his/her way to help you again.

8.Not paying attention when something doesn’t involve you

• Part of the value of an internship is that you can absorb a ton of information about how things work in your field. It’s best to pay attention even when something isn’t directly relevant to your work.

9. Talking more than listening

• You might think that you have plenty of answers, but before you suggest new ways of doing things, soak up as much information as you can about how the organization works and why things are done the way they’re done.

10. Not keeping in touch once your internship ends

• Once you’re back in school or at another job, make sure you stay in touch with the manager and co-workers from your previous internship. The occasional email about what you’re up to can maintain the relationship, and build professional relationships that can help you for years to come.

Jaunais likums tiek skatīts gan kā drauds Dānijas ekonomikas sistēmai, gan kā investīcija Dānijas attīstībā un internacionalizācijā.

Dānijā algas ir ļoti augstas, student parasti saņem vidēji 10 – 13 Ls stundā. Tas nozīme, ka, ja students paralēli studijām strādā vismaz 40 stundas mēnesī un saņem apm. 10 Ls – 13 Ls stundā, tad mēnesī viņš var nopelnīt 400 – 520 Ls. Pēc jaunā ES likuma studenti, kas paralēli studijām strādā, vēl papildus saņem 500 – 600 Ls lielu Dānijas valsts stipendiju. Turpretī students, kas nestrādā, nesaņem neko.

Dānijas stipendiju sistēma ir veidota pēc vienlīdzības principa, kas nozīmē, ka visi studējošie, kas ir sasnieguši 18 gadu vecumu, ir tiesīgi saņemt Dānijas valsts stipendiju 500 – 600 Ls apmērā.

Dāņi ir skeptiski par jauno likumu

Dānijas Izglītības ministrija uzskata, ka jaunais likums var sagraut Dānijas ekonomikas sistēmu, jo gadā izmaksās papildus 200 miljonus dāņu kronu.

Katrs papildus students valstij izmaksās 100.000 dāņu kronas gadā par studiju izdevumiem un stipendijām, rāda Izglītības ministrijas aprēķini.

«Mēs jau tā dodam bezmaksas izglītību visiem ES pilsoņiem, kas studē Dānijā, tādēļ mūs uztrauc, ka tagad mums būs jādod arī stipendijas visiem ārzemju studentiem.» saka Kreisās (Venstre) partijas pārstāvis Mads Rorvigs (Mads Rørvig)

Dānijas portāla Extra Bladet komentāros cilvēki izsaka savu neapmierinātību par jauno likumu:

«Ja ārzemju studenti var saņemt tik lielu finansiālu atbalstu Dānijā, tad kādēļ mēs nevaram to pašu saņemt citās valstīs.»

«Lielāka daļa studentu pēc studijām nepaliek Dānijā, bet dodas atpakaļ uz savām valstīm, tad kādēļ mums izglītot ārzemniekus par mūsu nodokļu naudu!»

Jaunais likums piesaistīs studentus

Pozitīvi noskaņots par jauno ES likumu ir Izglītības ministrs Mortens Ostergards (Morten Østergaard) norādot uz priekšrocībām jaunajā likumā:

«Dānijai tas ir ļoti izdevīgi, jo pietaisīs vairāk ārzemju studentu. Daudzi no viņiem paliks Dānijā strādāt un maksās nodokļus, kas veicinās Dānijas attīstību».

Izglītības aģentūra Study Start, kas sniedz konsultācijas par studiju iespējām Dānijā, jūt ievērojamu intereses pieaugumu par studijām Dānijā.

«Ja studijas citās Eiropas valstīs paliek dārgākas, kā tas ir, piemēram, Lielbritānijā, kur studiju maksa pagājušogad tika palielināta divkārši, tad studēt Dānijā kļūst ar vien izdevīgāk. Likums ir iepauzēts

Dānijas Stipendiju aģentūra (SU Styrelsen) norāda, ka jaunais likums šobrīd ir spēkā, tomēr nevienam ārzemju studentam pagaidam stipendiju uz jauna likuma pamata vēl nepiešķir. Maija nogalē būs zināms, vai jaunais likums paliks spēkā, vai tas tiks mainīts.

The Marketing Management programme has established a talent programme for those Danish and international students who are willing to make an extra effort.

In the talent programme, nine selected students are each matched with a company, who has signed up to be a part of the programme. Monday 27 January, the students and companies met at VIA to greet each other and match their expectations.

The plan of the talent programme is to place the students physically at the company one day a week. Here, they will get real-life experience while offering the companies the theoretical knowledge from their studies.

The companies and the students entered into a contract that initially will run for 18 months. During these 18 months, the companies commit themselves to provide the students with specific challenges, while the students commit themselves to do an extra effort.

Engaging the talent culture

Programme Coordinator of the Marketing Management programme, Bo Leervad Christensen, is the initiator of the programme. He explains that the idea of establishing a talent programme came from the students themselves:

”We often experience that a group of dedicated students want us to provide them with challenges that go beyond their curriculum. And we are obliged to give our students challenges which help develop their skills. Therefore, we have established the talent programme”.

Bo Leervad Christensen emphasises that the talent programme is NOT about dividing the students into an A team and a B team. It is about engaging a talent culture that will challenge and develop those students who set high goals for themselves.

Helicopter perspective and details

FLEXA is one of the companies who has become engaged in the talent programme. They develop modern Scandinavian interior for babies and children. Executive Assistant, Kasper Kjærgaard, is looking forward to cooperating with Elina Korne, who studies Marketing Management:

”As a company, we welcome new input and inspiration that challenge us in our way of thinking. And I am looking forward to working with a student, who can put things in a new perspective”, Kasper Kjærgaard explains and continues:

”I hope that Elina can help us see things from a helicopter perspective while also being able to go into depth with things, which we normally do not have time for. And if we prove to be a good match, it would be natural to offer her a position once she has graduated”.

I want to make a difference

Elina Korne is 27 years old and from Latvia, and she is very happy about being one of the selected students, who will now become a part of the talent programme:

”I want to make a difference. And this is my chance to show that I will do something extra to improve myself. As such, I will try to take initiative and demonstrate to FLEXA what I am capable of”, Elina Korne explains and continues:

”The talent programme will give me valuable experience and help me qualify for a job once I have graduated. I expect a lot from myself as I want to do the best I can at FLEXA, and I am excited to get started”.

Facts

The nine talents have been selected based on applications and interviews with the students and their teachers.
The selection of companies has been made in a collaboration between VIA and Henriette Bonde, consultant at Business Horsens.
The contracts made between the students and the companies are also signed by VIA, who is obligated to follow up on the collaboration and ensure its success.

Trīs mūsu studenti ir izcīnījuši pirmo vietu inovāciju konkursā, izstrādājot jaunu aplikāciju (AurApp) veselības nozarē, kas turpmāk palīdzēs miljoniem pacientu.

Ideja izveidot jaunu App veselības nozarei kļuva par laureātu VIA University Colleges Inovācijas balvai 2014 (Innovationsprisen 2014). Projektu īstenoja trīs latviešu studenti: Arturs Avramenko, Martins Spricis un Nikita Kazakevics, kuri studē Top-up Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Orhusas Biznesa akadēmijā (Aarhus Business Academy).

Apbalvošana notika Pētniecības dienas ietvaros, ceturtdien 24. aprīlī, 2014, Olborgas Universitātē, kurā piedalījās arī Dānijas princese Mērija.

No visiem iesniegtajiem projektiem, balvai tika nominētas 3 studentu grupas, un, pēc videoprezentācijas noskatīšanās, zālē esošie viesi izlēma, kam piešķirt galveno balvu. Vairāk nekā puse balsojumu tika piešķirti mūsu latviešu studentu projektam AurApp, kura mērķis ir palīdzēt epilepsijas slimniekiem.

Atbalsts projekta realizācijai

Bez titula “Gada inovatīvākie studenti” jaunieši saņēma arī naudas prēmiju 50.000 DKK apjomā, kā arī profesionālu atbalstu turpmākajai idejas attīstībai un realizācijai.

“Tas ir fantastiski, ka mēs uzvarējām,” saka 21 gadus vecais Nikita.

“Tas mums dod milzīgu atbalstu un stiprina ticību mūsu idejai, ka tā ir tā pareizā. Tā ir laba sajūta un spēcīgs pamats, lai turpinātu projektu,” stāsta Nikita.

Viņa studiju biedrs 22-gadīgais Mārtiņš piebilst:

“Man liekas, ka žūrija un tie, kas balsoja par mums, saskatīja potenciālu mūsu idejā. Mūsu aplikācijas mērķis ir atvieglotu dzīvi tiem daudzajiem cilvēkiem, kas cieš no epilepsijas”.

Atbalsts epilepsijas slimniekiem un viņu tuviniekiem

Projektam AurApp ir vairākas funkcijas. Epilepsijas slimniekam ar aplikācijas palīdzību ir iespēja veidot ikdienas atskaiti par sirdsdarbības ritmu un garastāvokli, ko var “dalīt” ar ārstu, kas var noteikt epilepsijas lēkmes norises modeli.

Sekojot pulsa darbībai, sirds ritmam un muskuļu kontrakcijām, aplikācija var arī atpazīt jau reālu epilepsijas lēkmi. Tādā gadījumā aplikācija radīs skaļu SOS signālu no telefona, lai informētu apkārtējos par lēkmi, kas spētu palīdzēt slimajam.

50 miljoniem ir epilepsija

Epilepsija ir hroniska slimīga un tiek lēsts, ka pasaulē ir ap 50 miljonu epilepsijas slimnieku. Trešā daļa no tiem piedzīvo regulāras lēkmes. Dānijā vien ir ap 50.000 cilvēku, kurus ir skārusi šī slimība, no tiem 15.000 ir regulāras lēkmes.

Šie aprēķini bija žūrijas motivācija izvirzīt AurApp inovāciju balvai. Vērtējumā tika rakstīts:

“Projekts ir labi pārdomāts un piedāvā funkcionalitāti un ērtu lietošanu, kas vēl nav redzēts citās aplikācijās, kas paredzētas epilepsijas slimniekiem. Projekta veidotāji ir arī atrisinājuši izaicinājumu kā iesaistīt apkārtējos, lai palīdzētu cilvēkam ar hronisku epilepsiju. Šāds veids kā pielietot aplikācijas ir inovatīvs un tam ir potenciāls ne tikai epilepsijas jomā, bet arī vairākās citās jomās, kurās cilvēks konkrētā situācijā pats ir bezspēcīgs”.

Inovācijas konkurs: Innovationsprisen 2014

Konkursā par gada inovācijas balvu var piedalīties visi Dānijas augstākās izglītības studenti. Kad projekti ir iesniegti, vērtētāju grupa, kuras sastāvā ir dažādu profesiju eksperti, nominē 3 labākos projektus. Izvēlēto projektu grupas sniedz savas idejas prezentāciju Pētniecības dienas ietvaros. Labākais projekts saņem naudas balvu un profesionālu palīdzību turpmākai projekta attīstībai.

For more than 2,700 applicants an AP Degree at Cphbusiness (Campus Nørrebro, Campus Valby and Campus Lyngby) was the preferred choice of education this year. A rise of 14% compared to the previous record year of 2013, indicating that AP Degrees are more popular than ever.

FINANCIAL PROGRAMMES ARE A BIG HIT

Among the most sought-after AP Degree Programmes this year are the financial programmes, and in particular the study programme financial controller is popular.
Financial controller was first available at Cphbusiness in 2013, where 36 applicants had the study programme as their first priority. In 2014 a total of 108 applicants had the study programme as their first priority, and this year the number of admissions rises to 80 students compared to only 56 last year. In 2015/16 financial controller will be available as an English taught programme.

– We are very happy about the overwhelming interest in our financial study programmes, and we attribute it, among other things, to our close collaboration with the financial business community and their institutions counting banking/mortgage credit, real-estate, real-estate administration, insurance and auditing. In addition, the financial study programmes are continually updated to meet the requirements of the business community, and this gives our programmes a good reputation, says Head of Economy and Finance at Cphbusiness, Bo Steen Larsen.

THE HIGH DEMANG IS WELCOME NEWS

The popularity of the business academies is welcome news for president at Cphbusiness Ole Gram-Olesen.

– We are very pleased about the success the business academies in general and particularly Cphbusiness are experiencing. The high demand for the short, business oriented degrees indicate that the applicants recognize the importance of a close contact with the business world and good job opportunities, he says.
Despite the high number of applicants, president at Cphbusiness, Ole Gram-Olesen, believes that it is important to maintain the high quality of the study programmes.

– In spite of the growing interest in our study programmes, it is still essential that we are able to provide our students with internship places and good job opportunities are they graduate, which put a natural limit to the number of admissions. This is a top priority, he says.

Campus in Vejle

The study programmes in Vejle will all be placed in the same building on the address Boulevarden 25.
With its size of 5,000 square metres, this building possesses all the extra space needed for the growth that the academy experience in Vejle. The décor of the building is very suitable for teaching and ready to be taken in to use by the academy in January 2015.

With the new address on Boulevarden 25, Lillebaelt Academy in Vejle will be placed in the centre of the education environment of Vejle.

Campus in Odense

Lillebaelt Academy in Odense is in the process of building new campus facilities in the centre of Odense, close to the railway station and the harbour. The new Campus, of 20,000 square metres, will be ready for use in August 2016.

2,500 students will be gathered at the new campus, and with the placement in the centre of Odense, the study environment will be fantastic. The contact with the local businesses will be strengthened, and the academy and the new campus will influence and shape the surroundings and life in Odense.

Kamēr viena daļa augstskolu absolventu piedzīvo lielu konkurenci darba tirgū, citiem darbu atrast nesagādā nekādas problēmas, jo pieprasījums pēc šie speciālistiem ir salīdzinoši liels. Dānijas finanšu portāls Finans ir apkopojis informāciju ar šobrīd pieprasītākajam izglītības programmām, publicējot sarakstu ar 10  studiju programmām, kuru absolventiem ir visvieglāk atrast darbu Dānijā.

Četras mūsu piedāvātās studiju programmas ir pieprasītāko Top desmitniekā, tāpat arī veselības aprūpes un tehnisko programmu absolventi ir tie, kam atrast darbu sagādā vismazākās rūpes.

1. Jūras transporta un kuģa vadītāja izglītība ir vienīgā sarakstā, kas var lepoties ar darba garantiju visiem absolventiem. Statistika liecina, ka neviens no šīs programmas beidzējiem nav bijis bez darba pus gadu vēlāk pēc studiju beigšanas.

3. Tie, kas ir ieguvuši bioanalītiķa izglītību, arī var būt 94,5 % droši, ka nepaliks bez darba. Tikai 5,5 % pus gada laikā pēc studijām vēl nebija atraduši darbu.
4. Veselības aprūpes personāla darbinieki kopumā ir ļoti pieprasīti Dānijā, un tāpat kā ārsti arī medmāsas 93,6 % darbu atrada jau pirmā pus gada laikā un attiecīgi tikai 6,4 % medmāsu darbu neizdevās atrast šajā laika periodā.
5. Arī revidenta izglītība ir laba izvēle, ja vēlies garantēt sev darbu pēc studiju beigšanas. 93,6 % absolventu jau strādāja pirmā pus gada laikā pēc studiju beigšanas, tikai 6,4 % palika bezdarbnieki.
6. Study Start: Mūsu piedāvātā Commerce Management programma arī ir Top 10 pieprasītāko programmu sarakstā, ierindojoties sestajā vietā pieprasītāko izglītību sarakstā. 91,6 % programmas beidzēju darbu atrada jau pirmā pus gada laikā, tikai 8,4 % darbu sanāca meklēt ilgāk.

Studiju programmu skaits, ko piedāvā apgūt angļu valodā, valstīs, kur valsts valoda nav angļu, ir krasi pieaudzis, 2001. gadā piedāvāto studiju programmu skaits bija vien 725, bet 2014. gadā jau 8,0891.

Dānija šobrīd piedāvā visplašāko programmu klāstu angļu valodā, kopā 38 % no visām studiju programmām tiek piedāvātas apgūt angļu valodā. Dānijas ekonomija balstās uz starptautisko sadarbību, tādēļ arī liela daļa pašu dāņu studentu izvēlas studēt angļu valodā, kas vēlāk dod plašākas iespējas starptautiskajā darba tirgū.

Kāpums piedāvāto programmu klāstā ir redzams arī studentu pieplūdumā, kas pēdējo gadu laikā Dānijā ir dubultojies. Lielākā daļa studentu nāk no Eiropas, galvenokārt kaimiņvalsts Vācijas. Latviešu studenti ieņem 8. vietu ārzemju studentu skaita ziņā, bet mūsu kaimiņi lietuvieši – piekto vietu.

Aģentūra “Study Start”, kas specializējas piedāvājot augstāko izglītību Dānijā, apstiprina, ka pēdējo gadu laikā ir redzams krass latviešu studentu pieaugums Dānijā. Pēdējo 5 gadu laikā “Study Start” studentu skaits Dānijā ir pieaudzis par 30 %.

Eksperti studentu došanos prom vērtē pozitīvi, jo jaunieši paplašina redzes loku, iemācās valodas, iegūst jaunus kontaktus, kas pēc tam viņiem, noderēs tālākajā profesionālajā karjerā. Arī Dānija atbalsta jauniešu vēlmi studēt viņu augstskolās, piedāvājot valsts stipendijas 750 Euro mēnesī un izdevīgas sociālās garantijas.

Dānija šogad ir ierindota 2. vietā ES ekonomiski varenāko valstu reitingā nodrošinot studentiem labas karjeras iespējas pēc studiju beigām.

Dānija šogad ir ierindota trešajā vietā, 50 valstu kategorijā, kā valsts ar vienu no labākajām augstākās izglītības sistēmām, apsteidzot par vairākām vietām Lielbritāniju un Nīderlandi.

Almost twice as many international students have chosen to complete a full programme of education in Denmark compared to 2008. The minister for higher education and science is working towards a strategy for retaining even more international students in Denmark.

Danish higher education programmes continue to attract even more international students.

From 2008 to 2014 the number of international students in Denmark almost doubled and by 2014, they comprised almost 10 per cent of all higher education students, according to a report from the Ministry of Higher Education and Science.

– It is positive to see so many foreign students in Denmark but when we use resources to educate them, we should also do more to retain them in the Danish labour market afterwards. This is not a challenge that can be solely solved through political measures – we must collaborate with businesses to help even more graduates find work in Denmark. We know that many international students want to stay here and we should utilise them, says Esben Lunde Larsen.

Academies of professional higher education and Master’s programmes have been a particular draw for international students since 2013.

– I am therefore setting the wheels in motion for a strategy on how to retain more international graduates in Denmark. We need to focus on all regions of Denmark, not just the larger cities, so that businesses across the country can find the necessary employees, says Esben Lunde Larsen.

Pilot projects for retaining graduates

The minister has already allocated DKK 3 million in 2015 for academies of professional higher education and university colleges, together with Danish regions and businesses, to carry out a number of pilot projects aimed at attracting and retaining international graduates from Danish programmes to work in Danish regions or municipalities where there is a lack of qualified employees.

Working conditions key for international students

A new study also shows that Danish labour market conditions play a key role in whether international students choose to remain in the country after their education, while concrete job offers from abroad can convince them to leave Denmark.

The salary level, the work/life balance, and good opportunities for professional development and challenges are attractive factors for graduates choosing to stay in Denmark. The minister for higher education and science will therefore include businesses and educational institutions in the process for developing a strategy to retain and encourage more graduates to work in Denmark.

The study shows that graduates from technical or health science programmes in particular are inclined to stay in Denmark.

The Universitas 21 Ranking is the only one in the world to assess national higher education systems, and meets a longstanding need to shift discussion from the ranking of the world’s best universities, to the best overall systems. The essential logic behind the development of national rankings is that it is the higher education system as a whole, not just research intensive universities, that matters for the economic and cultural development of a nation.  It has been developed as a benchmark for governments, education institutions and individuals, and aims to highlight the importance of:

• Creating a strong environment for higher education institutions to contribute to economic and cultural development
• Providing a high-quality experience for students
• Helping institutions to compete for overseas applicants

The 2016 Ranking includes the same 50 countries as in previous reports, which have again been ranked separately by four areas and also given an overall rating. New for 2016 is the productivity and drivers of research for the higher education sector, taking into account the relationships between inputs (resources and Environment) and outcomes (output and connectivity).

Aggregating to obtain an overall ranking, the top ten countries are:

The top three countries, in order, are the United States, Switzerland and Denmark, the same as in last year’s ranking. The United Kingdom is now ranked fourth, a rise of four places from last year’s ranking. Next in order are Sweden, Finland, the Netherlands and Singapore. Canada has fallen three places to ninth with Australia tenth.

Comparing the change in rankings over the four-year period 2013 to 2016, China shows the greatest improvement, rising 12 places. South Africa has risen nine places and the United Kingdom six places.

Compared to the original rankings, six countries are now ranked at least fifteen places higher. These countries are, in order of the ranking improvement, Serbia, India, South Africa, China, Portugal and Brazil.

As in 2015, this data has also been compared against the values expected at each country’s level of economic development, to create a second and separate set of ranking results.

Using this adjustment, a number of lower income countries rise up markedly in the rankings: South Africa to 7th and China to 5th from 16th in 2015.

The four more detailed areas of comparison are:

• Resources (expenditure  by government and private sector on teaching and research )The highest ranked countries for Resources are Denmark, Singapore, the United States, Canada, Sweden and Switzerland, in that order. The United Kingdom shows the greatest improvement over last year’s rankings.
• Output (research and its impact, quality of the best institutions, and the production of an educated workforce which meets labour market needs)The top two countries in the Output ranking are the United States and the United Kingdom. The scores for the next five countries are very close together, in order they are; Australia, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and Canada. The rankings are similar to last year’s rankings except that Australia and Canada have swapped positions.
• Connectivity (international networks and collaboration with industry)The top five leaders in Connectivity in rank order are; Switzerland, Denmark, Austria, the United Kingdom and Belgium.
• Environment (government policy and regulation, financial autonomy and diversity)The environment for higher education is judged to be best in the United States, Hong Kong SAR, Finland, New Zealand and the Netherlands, the same as last year’s rankings.The research authors, based at the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, University of Melbourne, looked at 25 measures across these four areas, allowing them to create a very detailed picture of the higher education system in each country.Speaking on the launch of this year’s rankings, Lead author, Professor Ross Williams at the University of Melbourne, said: “The U21 rankings not only provide a benchmark that a country can use to evaluate the performance of its higher education system but also give insights into how performance can be improved.   Our measures of government policy and resource inputs explain around two-thirds of performance in research, teaching and engagement with industry.Jane Usherwood, U21’s Secretary General, also commented: “Now in its fifth year, the U21 Rankings provide a valuable tool for policy makers and commentators who are interested in the contexts within which universities operate. 18 of Europe’s top 100 workplaces with the most content employees are located in Denmark.

Denmark is only surpassed by England and Germany, but measured per capita Denmark leads the top 100.

The result is based on statements from 700,000 employees among 2,250 companies in 19 European countries who answered questions about job satisfaction in their workplace

The Danish job mentality and work culture, where employees experience a high degree of autonomy and empowerment at work, result in very responsible, conscientious employees with a high level of job satisfaction. This is moreover one of the reasons why the Danes are one of the most productive and hardworking workforces in Europe, says Claus Lønborg, CEO, Copenhagen Capacity.

Meaningful jobs and great work-life balance

The Great Place to Work study was conducted by the global analysis and advisory firm Great Place to Work.

Employees received a detailed questionnaire in which they have commented anonymously on matters such as management’s support of balance work-life, management’s ability to show recognition and sincere interest in each employee, fair promotion procedures, the feeling of making a difference and that the job is meaningful.

Happiness Report

Denmark has taken the top spot in the World Happiness Report.

According to the World Happiness Report published by The Earth Institute at Columbia University and commissioned for a United Nations conference on happiness, Denmark is the happiest country in the world. The 158-page report, the first of its kind ever, ranks countries on a “life evaluation score” that takes into account a variety of factors such as wealth, education, government transparency, political freedom and job security.

„It is no coincidence that the happiest countries in the world tend to be high-income countries that also have a high degree of social equality, trust and quality of government”, write the authors of the study in the introduction.

Many Good Reasons to study in Denmark

Denmark is a small country with 5.3 million inhabitants and a size of only 43 thousand square kilometers. Still it is one of the most modern and developed nations in the world.

Denmark is highly dependent on brain power since we do not have many natural resources. This is why the educational system focuses hard on developing human resources. Denmark is known for its high standard of living and for a well-developed welfare system.

You may know some of the most famous products from Denmark, including B&O high-end television and stereo equipment, Novo pharmaceuticals, Carlsberg and Tuborg beer, Maersk transport and LEGO toys.

We also export a lot of agricultural products and a number of other well-known industrial products, including Grundfos pumps andDanfoss valves.

Denmark is a constitutional Monarchy and a representative democracy. Every Danish citizen over 18 has a vote to elect the politicians of the country.

Lai saņemt Dānijas valsts stipendiju, ārzemju studentiem paralēli studijām ir jāstrādā vismaz 10-12 stundas nedēļā (studenti saņem gan stipendiju, gan darba algu).

Lēmums samazināt studiju vietu skaitu ir pieņems balstoties uz pēdējo gadu statistikas datiem, kas liecina, ka liela daļa ārzemju studentu, pēc studiju beigšanas, pamet Dāniju.

Piedāvājums studēt Dānijā angļu valodā ir ar mērķi piesaistīt augsti kvalificētu darbaspēku Dānijas darba tirgum, tomēr pēdējo 4 gadu statistika rāda, ka 57% Top-up studentu un 31% AP studentu pēc studiju beigšanas izvēlas pamest Dāniju.

Sākot ar 2017. gada septembri studiju vietu skaits ir samazināts par 25 %, kas nozīmē, ka šogad tiks uzņemti par 1.600 mazāk studentu nekā iepriekšējos gados.

“Mēs redzam, ka pēdējo gadu laikā ārzemju studentu skaits, kas studē par Dānijas nodokļu maksātāju līdzekļiem, ir ievērojami pieaudzis, tomēr tikai neliela daļa studentu paliek un nes ieguldījumu Dānijas darba tirgū. Tādēļ ir nepieciešams samazināt piedāvāto studiju vietu skaistu”, saka Izglītības un zinātnes ministrs Sorens Pinds (Søren Pind).

Tāpat ir nolemts, ka turpmāk tiks piedāvātas tikai tās studiju programmas, pēc kurām ir pieprasījums Dānijas darba tirgū. Līdz ar to studentiem, kas pabeigs studijas Dānijā, būs arī lielāka iespējas atrast darbu un palikt Dānijā.

Piedāvājot augstas kvalitātes izglītību bez maksas, saņemt pasaulē vienu no augstākajiem darba atalgojumiem un 750 EUR lielu ikmēneša stipendiju – Dānija ir kļuvusi par vienu no popularizētājam studiju valstīm.

Pēdējo 6 gadu laikā ārzemju studentu skaits Dānijā ir dubultojies, tomēr tikai neliela daļa studentu pēc studiju beigšanas paliek un strādā Dānijā. Tādēļ, lai nodrošinātu, ka ārzemju studentiem ir iespējas atrast darbu un palikt Dānijā, turpmāk tiks piedāvātas vien tās studiju programmas, pēc kuram ir pieprasījums tieši Dānijas darba tirgū.

Dānijas Izglītības un zinātnes ministrija uzskata, ka samazinot studiju vietu skaitu lielāka daļa ārzemju studentu paliks un strādās Dānijā.

Lai gan jaunais likums pavērs plašākas darba iespējas Dānijā, tomēr arī radīs sīvāku konkurenci uz piedāvātajām studiju vietām.
