ENGLAND TRIP!

So my dear English readers/passerbys/followers, I will be embarking on a 2 week trip to England at the end of this month, going through Nottingham, Leeds, Manchester and London! I would appreciate any suggestions for places to go, things to do, vintage markets to stroll through, things to eat, etc etc! Anything and everything would be much appreciated :D

I'm backwards posting again since I've been MIA but these were taken on a random day out in North Point. I go through bags in phases, where I would use one until I'm sick of it and that usually lasts for 6 months - 1 year so right now, this is my current go to bag. It's quite small so I can't fit everything I want but it always forces me to travel light. My shoulders are thanking me for that.

After months and months of thinking, choosing, considering and reconsidering, I made up my mind and took the plunge! Can I have a big warm welcome for the newest baby in my life, the Olympus PEN E-PL1! I no longer have to worry about the poor quality of my very unprofessional camera and can take better and clearer outfit pictures! Woot! It's all very, very, exciting!

What urged me to take the plunge was the fact that my previous camera has decided to take an early retirement. It now lies on my table, with the lens sticking out and unable to turn it on/off. It has stuck by me through thick and thin, to the beach and to the club and can now take a good rest from my constant abuse. Since I'm new to this photography thing, it'll take me a while to figure out all the fancy stuff I can do with it, so please bear with me while I use Auto mode :)

It's the first time for this gel nail virgin right here! I've never done it before because it wasn't suitable for work but this time I did it to support my friend's new nail salon! It turned out a little different from what I thought but there's always next time! Loving the pink gel though :)

The theme for this birthday party was patterns, patterns and you guessed it, more patterns so while other guests went in stripes and checkers, I attempted to go in full polka dot gear! I succeeded with my headband and dress and seemingly my socks right? Well, it's not clear in the picture but actually those are little red hearts on my socks! When I went hunting for white polka dot knee high socks, I failed in finding any so when I saw these with the red ribbon on the top, I was immediately sold! Outrageous, but I love it! As always, I got caught up in the fun and games and forgot to take a good outfit shot so this cropped one will have to do!

Denim on denim was considered to be quite the fashion faux pas to me and I'm sure to many others too. How the times have changed! I know this is a little late considering it's been trending since spring but this is an old picture and I've been MIA from this blog for a while so I'll just post it now! I decided to pair this denim on denim ensemble with one of my favourite purchases from my last Singapore trip - those amazing blue heels from Charles & Keith. Since we're being all matchy matchy, might as well match the colours too right?

When I go shopping, black and white clothing is usually the first few things I pick up. Best for mix and matching and if there's a bold print, a definite bonus! So while I was shopping during my last Taiwan trip, this Sexy Diamond t-shirt (in the men's section fyi) stood out to me because of the kawaii print! Now let's talk about those awesome jelly shocking pink wedges! I simply couldn't resist when I saw them since they were pink, 4 inches and water resistant making them perfect for summer! I'll get a clearer picture of them the next time I wear them! Love!

I finally caved when I found this pair for just $100! I simply could not say no! I've been dreaming up all sorts of outfits to go with them so stay tuned!

My most reliable and efficient personal shopper (my mother) kindly offered to help me buy things that I wanted but were unavailable in Hong Kong. Obviously I immediately scoured the American Apparel and Forever 21 websites for anything I wanted and these are some of the things that I wanted. It felt like an early Christmas when I received my package. Thanks mother :)

My first feature! Actually I've been feature in another local magazine before but that was years ago, so let's just say this is my first feature since I started blogging! The story goes that while I was taking outfit shots for the blog, Lin from Brouhaha stopped us to ask if she could take a picture! Obviously I said yes since I was taking outfit shots anyways and here I am under their Street Fashion section in their latest issue. Isn't it all so exciting? Anyways, I've decided to include my own shot here as well, since my image is bigger so you can see the outfit more clearly!

You thought it was Lady Gaga didn't you? This beauty comes in the form of Edward Vigiletti and boy is he beautiful. I was catching up with my daily gossip when I came across this video and my first reaction was "Wow he is just unbelievably beautiful", and then I googled him, read his interview (go click on that link!) and found him even more beautiful. His beauty is completely different from Lady Gaga's beauty, even though he transforms himself into her. Am I making any sense? Anyways, watch him transform yourself.

Let me start by apologizing about the very picture heavy post! It was a lovely day, a public holiday with excellent weather which is so rare to come by! So, as you can tell I went a little crazy with the photo snapping. Stanley is a little piece of heaven in Hong Kong, one of the rare places where it's rarely crowded, and even if it is, you feel like you've escaped the hustle and bustle of the city and you can just relax there.

Now on to the clothes, which now that I've written it about them shows just how much I love to shop in little boutiques with no particular brand, whatever country I'm in. I definitely consider and pride myself in being a bargain shopper, but realize it's really an art in itself to buy pieces that are cheap, but do not look cheap. This takes a lot of years to practice and I'm still practicing! Gladly of course ;)

The dress I took to alter since the elastic around the top was originally down to the waist which made the dress an awkward length, so I asked them to take out about 5 inches and I love how it turned out! The print on the dress immediately caught my eye when I saw it so I bought it knowing I would have to alter it. The glasses featured at the end is the tortoiseshell pair of the cat eye glasses that I bought! Don't you just love them? I love Haagen-Dazs ice-cream too ;)

Back in Singapore in January, I bought a black romper but since the straps were too short, I haven't gotten around to fixing it so it's just been sitting in my closet unworn. Then came the explosion of rompers and when they came out with floral prints, I knew I just had to get my hands on one! I love the print on this romper since I love pink and the whole thing just screams spring to me! Since the romper was light in colour and is soft and flowy, I decided to pair it with my new favourite (and one and only) denim jacket, which is also soft and flowy and finish it with my go to nude heels.

The second picture shows a picture of a very satisfied shopper since I am now the proud owner of not one, but two pairs of cat eye glasses! I've been searching high and low for them and every time I ask for them in stores, I'm returned with weird looks and "No, sorry we don't have any". So imagine my surprise when I was walking around Mong Kok and finally found the last (!) two pairs just there in the cabinet, all by their lonesome selves, waiting for someone to dust them clean and take them home. The sales man was so happy that someone was finally going to purchase them that he almost sounded desperate when trying to convince me to buy both. Lucky him, he didn't need to do much convincing since I was equally happy to have found them too! I'm wearing the black frames in the picture above, and the tortoiseshell frames in my profile picture. Definitely my favourite purchase this spring. :)

Went to a dinner which was a sort of reunion, so our dress code was to dress as students! This is obviously not my actual uniform but I would definitely have not ripped my uniform into pieces (school tradition...seriously!) if it was. I had all the items at home but felt like something was missing...and then I realized I needed some white tights! Luckily I was able to do some last minute shopping, and with the addition of the pigtails, I must say I was pretty pleased with the results! Unfortunately I forgot to take a full length picture of myself so with a little crop and some photoshop, this is the best picture I could find! Oh and don't ask me about the expression, I'm not sure why I looked like that either. I was probably told a lame joke or something!

Here's my belated picture heavy post on my impromptu trip to Macau during Easter! Impromptu because it was only when I found an offer for $100 return tickets, which is like a 1/4 of the usual price, 2 days before the trip, I decided to be spontaneous and take full advantage of my holiday and the offer!

This was my second trip to Macau after about 3 years but things have really changed over there! The place was still such a strong mix of the old and the new (mostly the casinos) but the place was a beautiful backdrop for pictures! I wanted to take more pictures during the day but the weather was not the best and I guess one of the main attraction of Macau is the glitz and glamour of the casinos at night. Made a short trip to the Venetian and I've got to say, WOW. That place is unbelievable. It'll take a whole other trip to Macau for picture taking, then another day just for the Venetian.

Back to the outfit though, I'm wearing my favourite military inspired jacket and my Cheap Monday necklace makes an appearance! I also tried my first DIY project in years with an old pair of jeans that I don't wear anymore but feel like I may have been too reserved with the fraying so I may go back and work on them again! To end this post, I decided to leave you with a picture of this overly excited easter chocolate bunny I saw at the restaurant. Too cute for words :)
