Lancome Show, the latest limited-edition eye collection from Lancome was styled by the iconic Alber Elbaz, and I'm so excited to be hosting an event with Vogue Magazine to celebrate! Join me this coming Thursday from 6-8pm at Saks Fifth Avenue in NYC!

Lancome's four bestselling mascaras (including my must-try fave: Definicils!) and the brand's Color Design 5 Shadow Liner Palette will be styled up and strutting the runway in a fashion show featuring the some of the latest couture looks, and it doesn't stop there! The collaboration also includes a line of stunning false lashes, and their beautifully illustrated cases are rounding out his first-ever makeup collection.

One of my favorite bits about the partnership is that Elbaz took his inspiration from the stories that the eyes tell by their shape, their expression, their emotion - Those elements combined with his appreciation of female beauty has turned out to be simply stunning!

Concrete Catwalk // Ready to Romp

We are back from our visit to the Midwest, and even though I'm technically still taking vacation time, I thought I'd go ahead and share one of the looks we snapped while we were in Kansas City last week.

When I packed, the weather was expected to be it's usual hot-and-muggy self, but we ended up having several truly gorgeous days and ate almost every single meal outdoors. (Yay!) That said, I was SO glad to have tossed in this gauze-y summer scarf at the last minute, because it was nice to have a little something to throw around my shoulders, especially while my limbs get used to being bare for the season. :)

Speaking of bare limbs... I'm spending today at the beach with UGG Australia and a few of my blogging buddies, and am very excited to get in some surfing and sand-time before the first full day back at my desk tomorrow! Life // Last-minute Lounging

Beauty Bite // Savvy Sun-Care

Savvy sun-care! Such an important part of anyone's beauty routine this time of year, and because we're headed to the lake tomorrow for a long weekend, I've got my tried and true favorites packed and ready to go. In case you're still searching for the perfect product to block the harmful rays, I'm sharing my tried-and-true favorites here, and would love to hear any must-haves I may have missed in the comments.

Floppy Sun Hat // Most women invest a lot of money in their hair care throughout the year, so why let it get damaged in the Summer time? A hat is the best way to keep treated hair safe, plus it doubles a chic accessory. :)

La Vanila SPF 30 Lip Screen // The scent of this stuff alone is enough to make you buy it in multiples (smells like a vanilla cookie!), but as someone who is constantly trying to keep my chapped lips at bay, I put this on every single time I head out the door.

Aveeno Hydrosport SPF 30 // I honestly feel like I've tried every single body SPF (from drugstore to high-end), and this stuff is simply the best. It goes on with the most perfectly even spray, absorbs quickly and ends up being completely dry to the touch in seconds! I especially love that it is sweat and water proof, because I spray myself down before running outside and it makes a huge difference in keeping away the runners tan lines!

Kiehl's Tinted SPF 15 Lip Balm // I've been using this rosy gloss since middle school, and I love that the subtle color and shine almost seem too pretty to be doing any actual sun-protecting. I have several tubes (one for each beach bag!), and it's the perfect way to add a little extra polish whether you're by the pool or by the sea.

Aveeno SPF 30 Daily Face Moisturizer // This little bottle of goodness is honestly the tip-top most important part of my daily beauty routine. I've tried SO many different kinds of daily face moisturizer (even from Aveeno), and for some reason this is the ONLY one that doesn't get all wonky when I go to put concealer or anything else on top. I buy this even when I still have a bottle half-full on my shelf because I'm afraid I'll unknowingly run out with no back-up on hand!

Aveda Protective Hair Veil // Another protective hair product, this spray-on mist is lightweight, water-resistant, and is jam-packed with vitamins and minerals that will help moisturize, de-tangle and protect your hair from the sun. I'm obsessed with Aveda's whole Sun Care Hair line, and also highly recommend the Sun Care Cleanser & Sun Care Masque.

One of the best parts of my job is getting a chance to collaborate with some of the most talented individuals and businesses in the industry, and when projects come up that are both creatively stimulating and align with the mission that I've adapted for Style & Pepper, I always end up feeling like I couldn't possibly be any luckier.

Being asked to contribute to Verily fits exactly into that category, and I'm excited to show you the "First Date" spread that I styled and wrote for their first official issue! We shot the piece here in Hoboken, and between the historic buildings, the darling shops & cafes, and the NYC skyline, it felt like the perfect backdrop for a little imaginary romance.

Not only do I love the way everything turned out, but the most amazing surprise was seeing that one of the images from our shoot ended up being on the cover - Pinch me!

[Courtside] Catwalk // Jersey Girl

As you can see, I traded in my usual Concrete Catwalk for the courtside version today...

With all of the gorgeous weather we've been having, spending time outdoors has been a priority, and any excuse to combine exercise and enjoying the sunshine at the same time sounds like a pretty great afternoon to me!

I wanted to switch things up for my workout routine this past weekend, so I threw on my brightest mesh jersey tank (which doubles as a great running top), and my compression leggings that I've already begged you to buy (they're the best!) and we headed out to our neighborhood nets. A rousing game of pick-up paired with some of my new activewear by Old Navy, and I'm already thinking about my next fast-break!

This usually comes as a surprise to some, but I've been a basketball fan for as long as I can remember, and growing up around the NBA has given me a serious appreciation for the game... Do you have a favorite professional sport that you follow closely? Am I the only one who will be watching the finals this week?? :)

I always say that my personal style is a "head-tilting mix of vintage and modern trends," and this outfit definitely fell into that category. If I had a dollar for every time a random person (old ladies, dudes on the subway, tiny children, etc) made a comment about these pants when I wore them the other day, I'd have enough to cover my frozen yogurt habit for the entire rest of the Summer!

(And let's be honest, there's no real limit to that.)

Sunday Sprinkles // Wanderlust

Guys, I'm so excited for this week... We're going on vacation!

We're headed to Kansas City on Tuesday for a few jam-packed days of fun with some of our dearest friends (and to make sure we still remember how to ride our scooter!), and then are headed to spend the rest of the week lazing on the lake with G's family in southern Missouri.

While I do love the fact that I'm able to travel often for work, it will be the first real time off I've taken since the holidays, and I can't WAIT to unplug a bit. We've actually got a handful of fun trips planned for the rest of the Summer, and with all of the daydreaming and prep for upcoming getaways, I've definitely got adventure on the brain.

Let's Dish // Happy Birthday S&P!

I can hardly believe it, but today is the four year anniversary of the very first post on this site! I'm blown away by how drastically the entire blogging community has changed during that time, and feel so lucky to be a tiny part of something that has had such an impact on the fashion and lifestyle industries.

I was daydreaming this morning about throwing a great big party to celebrate YOU for being a part of the Style & Pepper community... Would be such a treat to have each and every one of you sitting around a nice long table in a bug-free twinkle-lit backyard somewhere, just eating and chatting and sipping and laughing into the night.

I'd make this summer staple for dinner and you'd have to seconds of this treat for dessert.

We'd wear breezy dresses and wrap cozy linen blankets around our shoulders if the night gets chilly.

The drinks would be generously poured and we'd sip from frosty copper mugs.

The night wouldn't be complete without a toast to new friends and old, and everyone would go home with quirky little favors to remember a great evening.

Since it might be kind of hard to make that all happen in the blink of an eye, I'll just leave you with a ginormous virtual hug and the wish that you have a lovely Summer weekend full of people you love and things that make you smile.

A subtle snakeprint dress, paired with a drapey blue vest - such a simple combo that I threw on in a hurry, but it just sort of seemed to work. (Phew!)

I wanted to keep things simple for a few evening events in the city, and even though we weren't originally planning to take photos because of the pouring rain, was admittedly kind of glad that the clouds parted right as I was heading out the door.

Beauty Bite // Verb Hair Care

I've gone in-depth about the many different aspects of my hair routine before, but there's a new kid on my cabinet shelf that I'd like to introduce you to: Verb Professional Haircare.

According to their website, they choose to focus on "quality over frills," and have "an attractive price to match." Verb sent me a few of their styling products to try out, and even with my dry hair that only gets a bit of product in between washes every two weeks, I was VERY pleasantly surprised.

The styling polish ($12) was perfect for keeping every thing in place during last weekend's wind, and I loved that it didn't feel too sticky on my hands or make my strands crispy like some products that go on after your hair is dry. The ghost oil ($14) has been great, too, and I've been using it in place of my Moroccan oil at night with noticable results - plus it's about $30 less!

MAJOR added bonus is that I always try to use all-natural products whenever I can, and their entire line is free of sulfates, paraben & gluten. Check here to find a salon near you that carries the line, and if you're wanting to stick to online shopping, I found the styling polish at Ulta and it's 20% off with code 104854! If you're in NYC, they're also at most Ricky's and several natural/organic food markets, as well.

I'm going to have Mr. Pepper try their sculpting clay ($12) for his ultra curly hair next, and if he gives it two thumbs up, I'll be sure to let you know. (The man is almost as particular as I am!) ;)

Let's Dish // Battle of the Blog Readers

Chances are, you've heard the news that the end of Google Reader is rapidly approaching (officially finished on July 1st), and with just about a month of operation left, I finally decided on a feed management system to continue keeping track all of the sites I follow...

I wanted to make sure that I chose the best option for me, so I exported my list to both BlogLovin' and Feedly, and have been giving each a bit of a test-drive. May sound a little overboard to some, but when you're as immersed in the blogging world as I am, the method of keeping track of everything is pretty important!

As of right now, Feedly is definitely the front runner for me, and here are just a few reasons why I'm a big fan:

Clean design with lots of customization options... and I especially love that if you have your feeds organized into sections (either before or after the import), you have the ability to use different settings for each one.
Love the option to view your summarized posts on single lines, as thumbnails, or in a traditional chronological stream.
Like Google Reader, blogs can be sorted into folders and tagged - This makes going back and finding things later a breeze!
Social network and other sharing options are made very easy, and you can even PIN from the in-app posts without having to click through, and it actually links back to the original URL! So amazing when you're as addicted to Pinterest as I am. :)
Importing and setup was really easy. If you're already using a reader, it's literally one or two clicks of a button.
One thing to note (makes me a little nervous): Feedly is currently running with Google Reader functioning in the background. The good news is that Feedly is building its own back-end that will activate on July 1st when Reader ends, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's stays just as amazing as it currently is.
The mobile app is incredible and was pretty much what sealed the deal for me. I read 90% of the blogs I follow while I'm on the road, and having a well-designed and functional app is key!

Bloglovin' has quite a few of the same strong points (clean design, organization, super-easy importing/set-up), but there are just a few small things that I don't care for: they've made it tricky to click through to the original URL which makes pinning a little tough, and I've recently begun to see ads interspersed between each post.

It's really just a matter of preference, but I'm actually happier with Feedly than I was using Google Reader in the first place, so win-win for little ol' me. :)

Tromping around the city amidst some rainy days last weekend, I rediscovered my love for the basic backpack, and was very happy that this new little vintage beauty of mine arrived just in time for a bit of exploring.

Not only does the whole hands-free thing come in very handy in the city, but the iconic quilting and chain-link strap details definitely make it stand out, and I can say that so far it's been one of my most exciting wardrobe-related purchases to-date!

Buying vintage designer handbags will by no means become a hobby of mine, but let's just say that the arrival of my first purchase from LXR & Co. has turned me in to someone who is not ashamed to ogle their amazing selection of bags whenever I get a chance. It is one of the only online shopping sites that I check regularly, as I'd hate to think that I'd miss out on something truly special... Plus, they update their selection everyday and have amazing weekend sales!

Technology // Style & Pepper iPhone Case!

Not necessarily proud to admit this, but sometimes it feels like my iPhone has become an extension of my actual arm these days. (Can anyone relate?!) I've written about chic tech accessories before, so you know that I'm totally into having a case to keep my gadgets covered AND cute, and I like to think that it is almost as fun as choosing accessories to go with my latest outfit. ;)

When Uncommon asked if I was interested in collaborating to come up with a custom Style & Pepper iPhone case, my answer was a very enthusiastic "Yes!" and I got right to work on collecting some inspiration images and design elements that would convey the look I was going for. The final outcome was inspired by my love of floral prints, geometric patterns & saturated colors, and I am honestly SO in love with how it turned out. You know you can always count on me for a pair of crazy pants, and when I saw these striped vintage beauties at one of my favorite vintage stores in Kansas City, I just knew they had to be mine.

Paired with another vintage find on my feet, a bold cherry-colored tank on top and a little handbag that I pretend is like a version of this glittery clutch, and I was ready to meet up with a few fellow bloggers for an event at the rooftop bar of the Peninsula Hotel. Nothing like outdoor drinks with dear friends!

The tiny Spring blossoms have all turned into completely unfurled leaves and full-blown blooms in our neighborhood this week, and it has had me thinking a lot about growth and change and personal progress.

Getting excited about life's blessings and anticipating it's challenges can both be important parts of life, but sometimes it feels overwhelming to continually be trying to figure out the next big thing or move or trip or project. Recently, it has seemed like looking ahead and constantly planning for what's yet to come can mean missing out on the blessings we could be experiencing right now.

In an effort to embrace this season of life without stressing about where we might be five years, five months or even five weeks from now, I'm trying to remind myself to bloom right where I've been planted. Digging in to our community here in Hoboken, spending more time getting to know our neighbors, and sharing the local gems we love with others are all ways that I'm looking forward to "blooming" this Summer, and I'm hoping that you'll be OK with me sharing some of those little bouquets with you here every now and again. :)

Sometimes we have little control over where we're sown, but the beauty that we create above our roots is predominantly in our own hands, no?

Concrete Catwalk // Corset Sweater-set

Ok, so it's not really an official sweater "set," but I felt like balancing out the skin-baring bustier top with a preppier cardigan, and the whole thing just seemed to work out OK in the end.

Concrete Catwalk // Spring Strolling

For us, Spring weekends mean strolling the neighborhood, brunching at a sidewalk cafe, and picking up flowers from our favorite market. We did all of the above as a way to 'recover' from a busy last couple of weeks, and the fresh air and quality time with my Sweet G were just what I needed to get back into the swing of things.

Not wanting to sacrifice all productivity, we also started switching our closets over from Winter to Spring, and I love discovering those pieces that I had forgotten about since the last time I saw them a few months ago. Floral shorts are a warm-weather go-to of mine (loving this pair lately), and I knew that layering them with my bright new white denim jacket from Old Navy and some rose gold sandals would be the perfect transitional look.

I finished off the outfit with a straw fedora and an oversized handbag from Koret NY, who was the fabulous sponsor of our Style Session at Pepperologie on Saturday. This tote is perfect for holding the weekend essentials, but just as great to hold your laptop and a spare set of shoes to use as a wear-to-work bag. (Available in the Fall!)
