10: Keep it simple

The first, most obvious step is to keep your outfits as simple as possible. The less you’re wearing, the less you’ll be affected by the heat. Try to follow the “three piece” rule: A top, a bottom and an accessory, like a single hat or over-the-shoulder bag. Anything more than three pieces is just asking to attract sweat.

9: Buy several pairs of sunglasses

Gone are the days when a simple pair of shades could invoke James Bond. Today’s sunglasses come in a variety of colors, sizes and styles, which means you should be coordinating them to your clothes as much as any other accessory. Try to have a different pair for at least every other day.

8: Know your fabrics

You’ll want light, breathable material to keep your temperature down and your body odor at bay. Look for natural fibers that allow plenty of air flow, like cotton, chino and linen. If you need to dress up for work or formal occasions, try a smart seersucker suit.

7: Party with patterns

Patterns are an easy way to add a little jazz to understated outfits. Pinstripes, for example, are classy enough for the office without sacrificing the youthful edge that makes you fashionable. Plaid is a great look for casual days. If you’re secure in your masculinity, you can even try for something a little floral.

Learn to accessorize your polos with ties, belts and even collar pins to distinguish your outfits from one day to the next. Consider light undershirts in contrasting colors for that extra “oomph.”

It’s an obvious tip, but one that can’t be stressed enough. Avoid dark colors whenever possible! Blacks and browns will absorb heat and absolutely cook you in your clothes. Look for bright, airy colors instead, like whites, greens and pale pinks.

Ever thought about wearing wool in the summertime? If you haven’t, you’ve obviously never heard of merino wool. Unlike winter cool, merino is lightly woven and moisture repellent, meaning it won’t get damp and stick to your skin. In fact, it actually guards against wetness by drawing sweat away from the body, a process known as wicking. These are the kinds of fun facts you can discover by doing your research and daring to be different this summer. The fashionable man always look for new ways to improve his wardrobe.

1: Find the perfect pair of shoes

You don’t have to be female to appreciate a good pair of shoes, and when your wardrobe is already limited by summer heat, the right pair of shoes can make or break your outfit. Sandals, of course, are the obvious choice of the season, but they aren’t your only option. Boat shoes are simple and colorful and don’t even require socks. Loafers and moccasins are lighter than they look.

Nicki Minaj and Prince will perform at the Versace for H&M launch in New York City later this month. The famed Italian fashion house will debut its special edition collection with the Swedish-based retailer on Nov. 19.

A fragrance in capsule form? What will they think of next?!?

A “Perfume Pill” which eliminates the need to spritz on a scent is the latest beauty buzz on the blogosphere. The brand Swallowable Parfum – headed up by the Australian artist and self-described “body architect” Lucy McRae – is the brains behind the perfume pill product.

Here’s a brief description:

“Swallowable Parfum is a cosmetic capsule that enables human skin to emit a genetically unique scent…Fragrance molecules are excreted through the skin’s surface during perspiration, leaving tiny droplets on the skin that emanate a unique odour. The potency of scent is determined by each individual’s acclimatisation to temperature, stress, exercise or sexual arousal.”

The capsule “consists of synthesised fragrant lipid molecules that mimic the structure of normal fat molecules naturally found in the body…Subsequently, the liberated fragrant molecules are excreted through the skin’s surface during perspiration.”

McRae and synthetic biologist Sheref Mansy are currently in the research phase to develop this capsule, so it’s not quite ready to be packaged up as Christmas gift!

Pregnant pop star Beyonce has announced plans to design a baby-bump-friendly line of fashions for the super stylish mother-to-be.

Beyonce, who is expecting her first child with husband Jay-Z in February, says she’s expanding her fashion label House of Deréon – which she produces with her mother Tina Knowles – to include maternity wear.

“All I see now are clothes that are flattering on a pregnant woman. It’s been so exciting for me! I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant. Flowy fabrics are always flattering – but I still rock my stilettos.”

Femcee Nicki Minaj is teaming up with OPI Nail Lacquer to create a special edition collection of nail colors. Like Katy Perry, The Kardashians, and The Williams Sisters before her, Nicki will debut a six-piece collection named after songs featured on her platinum-selling debut album, Pink Friday. Lacquer names include: “Metal 4 Life,” “Fly,” “Save Me,” “Did It On’em,” “Super Bass Shatter,” and “Pink Friday.”

“Now you can now have Nicki Minaj at your fingertips, literally. Nicki has teamed up with OPI Nail Lacquer bringing lots of cute & fun colours for the barbz’ (fan’s) mittens.”

The OPI deal won’t be Nicki’s first foray into the World of Beauty: Last November, the Queens, NY native released a line of lipsticks with M.A.C. last year.

Twilight star Ashley Greene has been named the new brand ambassador of DKNY and DKNY Jeans. The label announced Greene’s appointment on Wednesday, noting that the actress will appear in a global ad campaign for the brand’s Spring 2012 collection.

“I’ve always loved Donna Karan’s creations. To be a part of the brands’ message is incredibly exciting because it feels like such an organic fit,” the 24-year-old says of her one-year contract with the fashion house. “It’s easy to talk about how these clothes work for my lifestyle, whether I’m in New York, L.A. or traveling for work.”
