GOODBYE 2014, HELLO 2015

Happy New Years Eve everybody! I am counting down the hours until I get to leave work and ring in the New Year with friends and my fiancé. I thought I would send off 2014 with a round up of one outfit per month from the past year...but no judging! Putting this post together has made me realize how far this little blog has come, and whether he wants to admit it or take ownership of it, how far Matt has come with taking pictures...he truly is incredible and I am so fortunate to have his unconditional support throughout life. I hope you all have your NYE outfits on hand as well as something fun or relaxing planned and I wish each and every one of you a safe, healthy and exciting start to 2015! I am so looking forward to everything 2015 has to offer. Best yet, 2015 is the year I finally get to marry my best friend and officially become Kendall Kremer!

NEW YEAR, NEW YOU - 2 WEEKS TO YOUR WHITEST SMILE CHALLENGE

This past weekend, the sun was shining and Matt and I decided to take a walk with Hadley (our pup) around my parent's neighborhood in PA. It was exceptionally warm day for December, and this Top Shop jacket was the perfect weight for the outing. I also tossed on this Vince Camuto hat, which I have used pretty much every excuse to wear since I purchased it last week. I have a feeling this hat is going to be my best friend on bad hair days or days that I'm just feeling lazy.

With the New Year upon us (I can't believe tomorow is NYE!) I want to make some small personal changes and I though a great way to start this change was to join the Crest 2 Weeks to Your Whitest Smile Challenge. Living in NYC I am always cautious of my budget and what I am spending. LITTLE BLACK DRESS

Happy Monday and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are gearing up for 2015! I honestly have no idea where the last year went, but I am so excited for all that 2015 has in store. This little black dress by Cynthia Steffe was my Christmas Eve dinner dress and I fell in love with the simplicity of it, yet it embodied an elegant lace overlay that added dimension. I am usually one for a truly white Christmas, or at least a grey one with the sun tucked behind the clouds, but the weather happened to be in the high 50's for a few days straight so I took full advantage of shooting outdoors without a coat or tights. I decided on a chunky pearl necklace to keep this Christmas Eve look polished along with black accessories. We had a wonderful dinner with family, followed by a candle-light service at church. It truly was a magical holiday season!

Merry Christmas Eve to those of you that celebrate! If you were reading along last Friday, I mentioned that I was heading out of town to where I grew up for my brother and sister-in-law's annual holiday party. The attire is casual, but everyone always adds a touch of glam since it is around the holidays...and who doesn't like an excuse to dress up a bit? The Bella Dress by Cynthia Steffe was the most comfortable (and affordable) sweater dress I have tried to date. The elastic waistband transitions into a pleated skirt which gives this dress a more feminine feel. Since I knew I would be playing (ok, chasing) my nieces non-stop, I kept my accessories simple with an over the knee boot, chunky infinity scarf and a stacked braid! If you haven't checked out Barefoot Blonde yet, do yourself a favor and watch some of her hair tutorials, you will never settle for a simple braid again in your life. They look tricky, but trust me the videos are easy to follow and the braids always turn out. I warn you though, only click through to her site if you have hours to waste, it is so addicting!

I have always been a huge fan of Club Monaco. Their color pallet is neutral, the quality withstands time and their pieces are truly classic. This is a store that I know I will walk in and want pretty much everything in sight. While on the pricer side, they always offer a great sale section, a general discount (current code: HOLIDAYS), and if you are a student you can get 20% off which is the highest I have seen out there! I paired together this cream almeta sweater with a faux leather track pant that I have worn for about three days straight (who's counting right?!). Maybe I have been living in NYC for too long, but I have been obsessed with sticking to the basics during the winter months. This makes it so easy to mix and match what is in your closet and the best travel tip out there when packing. Hope everyone is having a great holiday week!

New Years Eve is right around the corner and I can't wait to wear this Cynthia Steffe little white dress again. The beaded detail along the bodice as well as the feather skirt creates the perfect appeal for a celebratory occasion. I kept the rest of my look simple, pairing black staples and a bold lip in my favorite color, "heat wave". NYE is the best excuse to pull out your favorite girly girl pieces and get dolled up to ring in the new year!

JACK'S WIFE FREDA

TGIF and happy last weekend to squeeze in any remaining holiday shopping! Matt and I are heading to my hometown for my brother's annual holiday party and I can't wait to spend some quality time with family and my two nieces that are growing up way too fast. I quite literally believe that I could celebrate the holiday season for a year straight, there are just so many fun things surrounding it!

This simple meets edgy look was inspired solely by this sweater I scored on sale at Lord & Taylor. I love the texture mixed with the link collar neckline and decided to pair a more feminine coat with edgy moto boots to bring the look together. I wore this outfit to dinner where Matt and I finally ended up getting to try Jack's Wife Freda in SoHo...so worth the wait! We started out with their spiced beet dip and quickly moved on to our main meals. Matt tried the burger while I was in seafood heaven with the bloody mary mussels and fries. It is a cozy and charming restaurant in the heart of SoHo that I highly recommend trying if you are in the area. One of my favorite things to do during the chillier months is trying new, quaint restaurants where you can just sit, relax and take it all in without being rushed to get anywhere. BRYANT PARK

Sometimes I have to take a minute to stop and think about how fortunate and lucky I am to live in the city I do. Year round there are always new places to check out, restaurants to try, and events to attend, but the holiday season is truly special. During the holidays I absolutely love checking off the traditional landmarks and festivities that characterize the city. Matt and I knew we were nuts for bringing Hadley into Bryant Park with us around the holidays, but we just couldn't leave her out of the fun. During the winter month Bryant Park transforms into the winter village, and sets up a plethora of holiday shops and various food vendors. The ice skating rink is always the main attraction, as well as the decorated tree. It really is a great place to walk around (and, of course, people watch) this time of year - so long as you can deal with the crowds. For this outing, I paired my fair isle sweater with a puffy vest and over the knee boots, which to me is the perfect cozy weekend outfit.

This past weekend happened to be the annual Santacon and while I participated several years back, I have officially aged out of this debauchery. So we spent Saturday attempting to dodge the Santas—although, let me tell you, this is easier said than done—and we headed to a brewery in the West Village to celebrate a friend's birthday. The air was crisp so I decided to pile on a few heavier layers (knowing once inside it was going to get very warm). This chunky turtleneck sweater from J.Crew has been on repeat and I tossed on a thicker sleeveless coat over top, which has a small leather trim (my favorite feature). Monday is back in full force and per usual the weekend flew by. This time of year I have a never ending to do list, and took advantage of some free time this weekend to get a few more holiday gifts crossed off my list. I have had my eye on a black cape for the longest while and finally added two to my wardrobe. Just recently I received one style from Sheinside, which is a more budget friendly option and has a slightly softer feel to it. Additionally, the other day when I was shopping Black Friday sales at Lord & Taylor (as mentioned in yesterday's post), I scored a higher-end Vince Camuto cape on sale. I thought it would be fun to shoot both capes and show you how I styled them at two different price points. CROPPED TURTLENECK

I made out like a bandit during the Black Friday sales at Lord & Taylor (don't worry, they have Friends and Family going on now) and swooped up both this cropped turtleneck sweater and metallic pleated skirt. I love bordeaux paired with rose gold, so didn't think twice when paring these two pieces together. Lately I have been loving cropped sweaters, especially with skirts. If the skirt is more fitted I often leave the sweater untucked and if the skirt has more flare I tend to tuck in just the front of the waist of the skirt, such as I did here.

Sometimes I honestly think there are not enough layers to keep me warm on the extra chilly days. This past weekend it was rainy all day Saturday and then freezing on Sunday. The weather Gods have not been on my side the past few weekends! Living in NYC I am constantly walking from place to place and the wind can be intense at times. Because of these factors I tend to gravitate towards turtlenecks for an extra layer of warmth. This Alpine turtleneck reminds me of a ski weekend away at the mountains hitting the slopes and sipping hot coco. I dressed it up a bit with a blanket coat and heeled booties, but I also can't wait to wear it much more casual with a pair of black leggings and camp socks around my apartment. RED SWEATER

One of best part things about winter is a cozy sweater to bundle up in. What drew my eye to this red sweater is the asymmetrical hem line and cowl neck. Something subtle, but makes it unique from all the other red sweaters on the shelf. In the winter, I find myself increasingly just throwing on a sweater before work, so I try to find pieces that are still fashionable, while practical for the season (and my laziness!). I am SO glad it is the weekend, and I'm sure pretty much all of you feel the same. Have a fantastic one!

When I see the first snowflake of the season I resort back to my 5 year old self, letting out a squeal of joy and running outside. These pictures were taken during that first snowfall in upstate New York. I grabbed my coat, tossed on the warmest blanket scarf, and headed outdoors. Although I didn't pack the best footwear for the snow (I can only carry so much in one suitcase, and although I would have been content in a pair of sweats most of the holiday weekend, that would result in some not so-exciting blog content this week!). Nevertheless, these ankle booties still did the trick. As you probably noticed in a post earlier this week, I'm a big proponent of mixing and matching stripes and plaid - its such a fun twist on a classic look. In this case, I also happened to have my hair in a braid before heading outdoors, which worked out well given the wet elements. I personally find that a braid can be a great option for when getting wet is inevitable, but you still don't want to look like a total mess. Hope everyone is having a great week!

I was in Albany for Thanksgiving this year with my fiancé's family, and it was truly the perfect getaway from the city. When it comes to the holidays, nothing screams 'tis the season more than snow covered grounds and plaid flannel button-downs.
