At the Sundance Film Festival, the movie, The Runaways just happens to be the talk of the town. The Runaways is partially based on the autobiographical book by lead singer Cherie Currie, Neon Angel: The Cherie Currie Story.

The film stars Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie. The film follows the two from Southern California girls to 70’s rock stars that helped pave the way for future girl rock bands. The Runaways became the first all girl band to bust into the male dominated world of arena filled rock bands.

With the release of this movie, there are going to be a lot of women and men who want to channel their inner punk rock star … make sure you see The Runaways to show you how it’s done.

Fashion weeks is about to start up and a familiar face will be strutting down the runway, Constance Jablonski. In the Spring ‘10 fashion shows, Constance Jablonski walked in 72 shows, more than any other model that season. Constance has only been in the industry for a little over three years and at the young age of 19, she has already worked for Topshop, Donna Karan, LaPerla and many others.

The French stunner got here start when she entered the French Elite Model Look contest in 2006 and in 2008, Constance made her runway debut at the BCBG Max Azaria show in New York.

 In 2009, Constance became one of the faces of D&G and since then has appeared on multiple covers and inside many magazines. Keep your eyes on the runway for Constance Jablonki, you know she will be all over the place.

This week on Project Runway, the designers were taken to The Met to take a look at the couture time capsule featuring amazing designs from designers like Christian Dior and Balenciaga. They were then divided into teams (Oh s*&% is what they were all thinking) and given the challenge of creating a look that would fit in with the other iconic designs. Not to my surprise, nobody wanted to work with Ping, but lucky-duck Jesse was chosen to be on her team.

In the workroom, most teams worked nicely together – minus Ping and Jesse. There was a little stress from Maya and Jay since Jay has immunity and he was slacking. Mila took charge in her group and was insistent on her vision for a 60’s-inspired jacket. I was a little apprehensive of some color choices (like Anthony & Seth Aaron’s yellow and black and Jesus & Amy’s peach and black. Then, Tim came in and dropped a bombshell…

The teams had to create a SECOND look based on another team’s high-end look. AND, the look had to be made for $50 (whereas the other look was $500 – a Project Runway record). The teams each chose their other team inspiration and created their looks.

On the runway, my favorites were Mila & Jonathan’s B&W coat and pants along with Jay & Maya’s structural one-shoulder gown. Honestly, Jay and Maya’s “Look for Less” look better than the high-end look from Ben & Janeane! My least favorite was definitely Ping & Jesse’s dress ‘o drapes and cheap look that fit worse than the potato sacks! I also was not a fan of Emilio & Anna’s designs (too simple and safe) or Anthony & Seth Aaron’s cheap look (not cute: black + peach = blah).

In the end, Mila and her black and white jacket made her the winner while Ping and her crazy draping was auf’d (it’s abotu time, in my opinion).

        

Our favorite styling duo from The Rachel Zoe Project got a chance to do some styling, but this time not with A-list celebrities: each other and themselves! Buddies and stylists, Taylor Jacobson (who is no longer on RZ’s team) and Brad Goreski got the chance to dress each other up for a photo shoot for Paper Magazine. Both dressed each other in a look they saw for them, then dressed themselves in their type of look.

Tons of stars have come out to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah to view their movies and look fabulous while doing it! Of course Utah is full of snow now, so the dress code mostly consists of jeans, snow boots and puffy jackets. Now, when I think of puffer jackets, I think huge marshmallow-like coats covering your whole body, but stars like Kerry Washington, Naomi Watts and Dakota Fanning have proven that a “sleek” puffer jacket does exist!

I know, I know, most of us can’t just run out and get a Chanel bag whenever we feel like it. The classic, but pricey accessories are timeless and most of us dream of owning one (someday). I just heard the devastating news that as of February 1st, Chanel will be raising the prices of their handbags by $50 to $100 on classic styles. It doesn’t sound like much, but when a bag costs you over $1000, every penny adds up. The New York Chanel boutiques have been letting the sad news slip. The Madison Avenue store even claims that the classic jumbo caviar leather bag will go up to $2,995 from $2,650. It may keep up from buying the bags, but somehow Chanel boutiques can manage to have a mile long waiting list for the beautiful bags. In this economy, much of the luxury handbag industry has been flourishing rather than suffering. Interesting, isn’t it? Despite the hike in price, I don’t imagine that sales will be going down any time soon. Let me know if you make an impulse buy in the next 2 days!

Earlier this week I bought the most wonderful jacket at one of my favorite local boutiques here in Gainesville, Florida. This sparkling beauty, the B.B. Dakota “Andisue” jacket, is my favorite recent addition to my wardrobe. The cut is delicate and feminine, but the sequins add a unique punch to every outfit. Sequins were everywhere this season and I’d been in search of the perfect sequin cover-up for a while now. This little jacket is everything you could want: functional, adorable, and fashion forward. I wore mine with cuffed shorts, a ruffled blouse and hot pink tights. Have you added sparkle to your life this season?

Spring Couture Week kicks off in Paris with some of the most well known couture design houses: Christian Dior and Chanel. The impeccable designs, variety of styles and intricate details make Couture Week some of the best fashion shows.

Christian Dior’s collection was inspired by equestrian style, romanticism and one of the first American fashion designers, Charles James. Galliano made James’ style evident (famous for his cutting) with the dramatic and voluminous sculpted forms. The plaid, peplum jackets, riding boots and whips add to the high-fashion polo club theme while super-cinched waists, bows, pleated and ruffled gowns add romance to the line. Huge statement necklaces, hats and veils accessorized the looks. I love the gown with the black ruffled skirt and sculpted purplpe bodice (first below) – it is so elegant and chic.

The master himself, Karl Lagerfeld, decided to do something a little different with this couture collection and completely shy away from the typical black and navy. Lagerfeld’s inspiration for the line was “neon baroque” and featured bright pastels like icy blues and minty greens. Suits, volumionus cocoon wraps, flirty dresses and silk gowns were present (and shining) on the runway. The classic suit was updated with sparkling details and trims. The Minnie Mouse-style hair, shimmering gloves and silver shoes completed the looks. It’s a new look for Chanel, but I kinda like it!

        

Calling all Twilight Saga lovers! Here is one more opportunity to get you that much closer to possibly attracting your own Edward! BB Dakota, the brand behind the famous blue “Twilight” jacket that Bella wore in Twilight, is designing a Bella-inspired line.

Since that scene in the woods, the Jack BB Dakota jacket (originally launched in 2006) is now known as the “Twilight” jacket and is a must-have in any Twi-hard’s closet. Funny thing is that the now-famous blue cargo jacket was not even supposed to be in the movie. Costume Director, Wendy Chuck, originally had Kristen Stewart in a brown hoodie, but the director of photography said the color was not working with Stewart’s hair in the scene. Chuck had to run to a nearby outlet mall and picked up the blue BB Dakota jacket. Because of the popularity of the movie, BB Dakota reintroduced the jacket last year and renamed it (officially) the Twilight jacket.

This fall, BB Dakota will create a new collection consisting of skinny cords, plaid shirts and hoodies. The line will revolve around the still-in-demand jacket and Bella’s outdoorsy and casual style.

        

Since when does Victoria Beckham make the news for wearing– gasp!– flats?

You may remember one of Mrs. Beckham’s most famous quotes: “I beyond hate ballerina flats. I can’t walk in them. Unless they’re on a ballet dancer doing ballet, I just don’t get it. I love heels. I hate my feet – they are the most disgusting thing about me.”

So it was a bit of a surprise when the former Posh Spice showed up at Heathrow airport in a pair of ballet flats:

The star is famous for her sky-high heel preferences no matter what the occasion. So why the switch to flats? I’m thinking she must have a medical condition that requires her to wear flats for the time being. No, really– last November she had to get surgery for bunions on her feet. After all, I can’t see this woman wearing flats just because! Regardless, she looks great in the sheath dress, tights, and flats.What do you think?

Back in October, they announced that they would be designing their own line for Bebe. And now that the big reveal will be at New York City’s Fashion Week, Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe Kardashian are getting some flack.

Amy Odell over at NYMag.com called it just one of many “sham shows” that take place during Fashion Week. “Sheree from The Real Housewives of Atlanta staged her She by Sheree show at New York Fashion Week last season. We don’t know if she’s showing this season and we don’t care enough to try to figure it out, but with more and more celebrities and fauxlebrities designing clothing lines, and with more and more people taking them seriously, we can only expect the sham shows to proliferate.”

Before diving into the Kardashian debate, I think we should take a moment to wonder if Bebe deserves to be at Fashion Week. I’m not a Bebe hater once I weed past the rhinestone logos, but I don’t think it has warranted enough respect in the fashion world to have a spot right after Derek Lam.

Beyond Bebe’s presence at Fashion Week, I don’t see a problem with it being a collection by the Kardashians. The fame of the sisters is questionable– Kourtney, Kim, and Khloe are celebrities that often bring up the ubiquitous question: “Why are they even famous?” Besides being the daughters of an O.J. Simpson trial lawyer, their fame has come from sex tapes, celebrity friends, and reality shows. If they have any credit to their name, it’s for fashion. Kim previously worked as a stylist, and the trio own boutiques in Calabasas and Miami. Their style might now be up everyone’s alley, but the sisters have all stepped up their fashion game within recent years and some consider them icons.
