The EXTINCT X GECCU collaboration includes crew neck jumpers and cardigans for both men and women in the 3D knitting technique which brands such as Coogi and Geccu made famous in the 80′s and 90’s.

Geccu founder, Con Skapetis, was formerly the head knitter at Coogi where he co-developed the 3D knitting technique 45 years ago and remains one of the pioneers of knitwear technology in Australia.

Megan arrived at the Palais de Festivals looking stunning in a long black gown custom-made for her by Australian designer and friend Alex Perry.  Megan walked the red carpet in attendance for the premier of French creation Jimmy P. (Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian) by Arnould Desplechin.

“It’s wonderful to have been invited back to Cannes again for a second time with L’Oréal Paris.  It has been just as hectic a trip but at least I had experienced it before… so knew what to expect and how chaotic and crazy the Festival is,” says Megan.

Megan joined a host of fellow L’Oréal Paris ambassadors in Cannes to celebrate the world’s most prestigious Film Festival… including Jane Fonda, Eva Longoria, Doutzen Kroes, Aimee Mullins and Cheryl Cole to name a few.

“The highlight of this visit had to be hanging out with the other attending L’Oréal Paris ambassadors.  I had the pleasure of meeting some for the first time including the super-sweet Eva Longoria, the stunning and very down-to-earth Cheryl Cole and the truly remarkable and iconic Jane Fonda.  It was also fantastic to again spend time with both Doutzen Kroes and Aimee Mullins… both of whom I always love to catch up with,” says Megan.

Spending a few days in Cannes, Megan was also the VIP guest of several official events including an exclusive L’Oréal Paris celebratory luncheon and an official invite-only red carpet After Party hosted on the terrace of the iconic Martinez Hotel.  The 2013 Festival marks the 16th anniversary for L’Oréal Paris as the official make-up partner of the event.

Celebrating their 15th anniversary, Jimmy Choo is one of the worlds most sought after labels when it comes to the intricate designs of women’s shoes and men’s alike.

Set to star in the upcoming AW 13/14 campaign, Nicole Kidman is the first new face since the creative director role was taken over by Sandra Choi. A huge step in marketing.

Described as having ”a cinematic feel that hints at the power and seduction of the Jimmy Choo woman”, photographer Mikael Jansson shot the imagery last month for the world premiere of the campaign in August this year.

“I’ve always loved fashion, and often use it as a way to get into character,” added Kidman. “There is a lot of complexity, mystery and femininity to the Jimmy Choo woman.” The 45-year-old Hollywood actress, who has previously appeared in campaigns for Chanel No.5 and Omega watches, has just finished filming the Grace Kelly biopic Grace Of Monaco , which will hit screens early next year. This week, she’ll begin her tenure as a member of the main competition grand jury at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

Hardly surprising to see Terry both behind and in front of the camera – those familiar with his work will know how much he loves switching sides.

This is the first time Valentino designers Pierpaolo Piccioli and Maria Grazia Chiuri have collaborated with Richardson, with the designers noting that the images conveyed “the sensual yet elegant nature of our accessories, described as objects of desire.”

The campaign will be rolled out in global fashion magazines from Italy to China this week. Keep an eye out for it.

Feeling particularly adventurous during our shoot (and with the promise of Vietnamese food to follow) my photographer – Dino Dan – and I strolled on down to Croft Alley to climb on top of the dumpsters.

Kidding? But not really – that’s what ripped boyfriend jeans and leather biker jackets are for.

I’m happiest when I’m comfortable in the clothes I’m wearing. I’ve always been a firm believer in that if you feel comfortable and confident, you’ll look a thousand times better than if you feel self conscious and over exposed.

This Jorge biker jacket with knit sleeves is a definite winter staple for me. It’s warm, cosy, comfortable and it goes with everything. If that doesn’t tick all of your jacket boxes then who knows what will.

From casual to dressy, MK knows how to work both looks and rarely gets it wrong. I think I am in love…

CASUAL MK-

Love, love, love this casual look. The addition of the fedora to the jumper, shirt, skinny jeans, and ballet flats takes the outfit from simple to stylish. The canary yellow really makes her highlighted locks pop and brightens up would could have been a dull, basic outfit.

Channeling a more sporty look here, the leather pants teamed with wedged sneakers gives the outfit a bit of an edge, along with the animal print cardigan. Classic in black and white, her pulled back hair-do highlights the effortless approach again.

DRESSY MK-

Could she be any more perfect?! This floor length gown is classy yet sexy with the thigh high split and deep plunged V. The side swept hair and maroon tones give off a siren feel complemented with minimal jewellery. Again simple and less is more, and MK has scored a 10/10 for me with this outfit.

In a classic black peplum dress, MK has rocked a more conservative look for her. The ankle strapped points and red lipstick completes this look perfectly and what could have been deemed as a bit corporate, she has made it sassy.

Ah Gatsby, the gleaming ray of literary light that came from an otherwise torturous high school English curriculum. And now, everyone’s favourite eccentric director Baz (we can just call you Baz, right?) is bringing Jay Gatsby in all his luscious, lavish and opulent glory to the silver screen.

Set to headline Cannes on May 15 (Australia has to wait until May 30) The Great Gatsby is without a doubt the most hyped and anticipated film of recent years. Gatsby chatter has well surpassed the standard ‘oh I’m looking forward to seeing that movie’ status and leaped into full fever pitch. You would have had to be living under a rock in the middle of Alice Springs to have missed the countless teaser trailers which had movie buffs and novices alike squealing with glee.

And it’s not just these 30-second glimpses into life in the 1920s or even the epic soundtrack produced by Jay-Z that has started the hoopla. Call it the Daisy Buchanan effect but even some of the world most recognisable brands have Gatsby fever and are celebrating with limited edition ranges inspired by the film.

Tiffany & Co has collaborated with the movie’s costume designer Catherine Martin to release the Jazz Age Glamour Collection, a range encrusted with pearls, diamonds, onyx and platinum. But you’ll need a Buchanan sized bank account to afford many of the pieces, which are priced with six-digits plus. The hero, the Great Gatsby collection Flower Ring in platinum with a 5.25 carat diamond, will set you back AU $1,041,000.  But there are a few more reasonably priced, such as the Ziegfield Collection Daisy ring in sterling silver and block onyx for AU$750.

After having worked extensively on the costumes for the actual film Iconic menswear label Brooks Brothers decided to release key pieces so today’s gentlemen could relive the dapper prohibition style. Designed to wear with a gin in one hand and a cigar in the other the range showcases three-pieces suits, striped jackets, bow ties and wingtip shoes. The brand itself is mentioned numerous times throughout the book, and author F. Scott Fitzgerald was even a customer himself, making this collaboration quite authentic.

And it’s not just fashion that is taking design cues from Gatsby. On the 18^th floor of The Plaza Hotel in New York City now sits the aptly named Fitzgerald Suite, filled with grey and sea foam tones, Art-Deco furniture and chandeliers. You’ll be staying in true Gatsby style, with the room setting you back $2,795 a night. A 1920s resurgence wouldn’t be complete without a cocktail list, so 21 Club, also in New York, is adding a selection of bespoke cocktails to the menu. The Lavendar Lime Rickey mixes gin, lime and lavender-infused syrup for a modern twist on Fitzgerald’s favourite tipple.

If you’re like me, then all this hype has you wanting to channel your inner flapper, tap your toes to some serenading jazz tunes and start looking across the room for Jay Gatsby himself.  The absence of customised designed Prada gowns (over 40 have been created for the movie using the Prada and Mui Mui archives) will make the quest slightly less glamorous we can easily add a bit of jazz to our style without looking like we took a wrong turn out of the Roadshow costume department.

Exploring the origins of punk in London and New York, visual and auto elements create a fascinating space which allows you to completely immerse yourself in the punk culture. With the recreation of the BCGB toilet and the 430 Kings Rd Sex Boutique, you are transformed to a time where rebellion, excessive piercings and spiked hair was creating change and impacting the concept of fashion.

Throughout the many rooms are displays from Vivienne Westwood, Comme des Garçons, Alexander McQueen and many other of today’s couture designers, all highlighting the relationship of the punk concept of “do-it-yourself” and the idea of couture being made-to-measure. Who would have thought a couture gown made entirely out of garbage bags would ever be taking centre stage on the runway?… well perhaps the punks did!

The Limedrop Magic Eye Silk Bomber and matching drawstring hat are my new favourite wardrobe items. After falling in love with the collection at L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival earlier this year, I had to get one on my back (and head).

What’s great is that they can be worn together or separate. They can be clashed or used as a feature piece and can also be worn day or night. If that doesn’t tick enough fashion boxes for you then I don’t know what will.

Similarly, I can’t rave enough about these Adriano Goldschmied wax denim jeans. I wear them so often and they still haven’t lost their shape or their shine, despite many washing machine adventures.

I decided to keep the rest of my look simple and use the silk bomber jacket and hat as the feature pieces of my outfit. This is something I do often – I like to have a focal point when it comes to what I wear. I’m definitely a fan of clashing prints, however sometimes is best to let them do the talking on their own!

At the Chanel spring/summer 13 show Karl Lagerfeld took his love of  new extremes to a new level with a collection of chunky plastic clutches that resembled one of my favourite childhood games, Lego.

The price tag on the brightly-coloured blocks of plastic? An exorbitant $8,170. But as with all things, a sky high price tag and fleeting trend lifespan of an item has never deterred an A-lister from jumping on board. Celebs obsessing over the new plastic include  Kim Kardashian, Diane Kruger, Rita Ora and Anna Dello Russo – to name a few.  

Crafted from high gloss hard vinyl with the interlocking C logo picked out in raised plastic, the Chanel Lego has been an opinion divider ever since its catwalk debut. But a range of fashion-forward stars have already snapped up the arm candy.

Kim Kardashian was the first A-lister to debut the quirky clutch in lime green, sharing a picture on Twitter.

The exhibit, which opened last week, gives the chance to get up close and personal with the designs Miuccia Prada created alongside costume deisgner, Catherine Martin for the much anticipated film. Full of 1920′s decadence, the display of glamourous dresses and detailed accessories is enough to make you want to get your flapper on and dance the night away!

Along side each costume is a detailed description of the characters that wore each look, an insight which further increases the already desperate need to see the film! Brilliantly displayed, it is evident the amount of work and attention to detail that both Miuccia Prada and Catherine Martin have gone to in bringing this story to life.

The Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada Dress Gatsby exhibition will be on display up until May 12 before it makes the journey to Japan.

When wearing such an eye-catching ensemble, I prefer to keep the rest of my outfit simple. A simple pair of black, ankle-strap heels and matching bag will complement – with detracting from – this incredible Blessed are the Meek two-piece.

Another rule I live by is that every girl needs a staple black bag. One that goes with everything, fits everything and can be worn with trackies or heels. Or both.

I have short legs (don’t ask me how, when the rest of my family has legs for days) and so wearing ankle boots is a constant challenge for me. If, unlike me, you were blessed with longer legs, a pair of black ankle boots would also look great with this outfit and add a grungier element.
