Today is the Summer Work look.

The menswear industry has traditionally been a little boring...

But things are a changing! I am delighted to see some of the fabulous colors, patterns, fits, and combinations that are being offered for guys.

This fun stuff inspired me to put together some looks for the guys. It may take them a while to try some of these fresh ideas, but I think we need to push them a little outside of their comfort zone, no?

Virtual Wardrobe: 50 + Style!

The very generous winner chose to give the wardrobe to her mom, Ms. L!

So Ms. L and I chatted. She desperately needs to clean out her closet and get rid of things she no longer wears! How many of you are in the same boat?
After years of experience and editing many many closets, I can tell you that
clients always feel so much better AFTER we edit their closets! They usually feel like they have more options when we are done!

So on to Ms. L's 50+ wardrobe.... she is a jeans and blouses kinda gal that has great legs.
Now my job is to dress Ms. L in items that she likes, and that flatter her figure.
Another part of my job is to push Ms. L out of her comfort zone a little ;).
Isn't Ms. L going to look so fab in her new SYL Wardrobe??

How to Shop Sale Sections

1. Never buy an item just because it is on sale, see cost per wear post!

2. Always go for the the higher quality item on sale over the budget item not on sale.

For example: A discount store dress is $35 but you find a similar dress on sale at a specialty store marked down to $36 from $100. There is a really good chance that the specialty store dress:

a.) is better quality

b.) will last longer

c.) is made better

d.) will fit better

3. Do not buy random items (this goes for full price too!) Shop with intention, or a stylist ;)

4. When new items arrive at the store, pin them, take a photo, or mark the catalog so you can keep tabs on the item until it is marked down. If you are madly in love and it works perfectly for your figure and for your closet, don't wait for the sale.The item you love may be gone before it gets marked down.

5. Don't buy three or four of the same thing just because it is on sale.

6. Rule of thumb: You can buy up two sizes and still have an item altered.

For example if you are a 2 you can buy a 6 and have it tailored.

I am answering another Reader Question from Facebook today!

Follow along if you want special privies, like this Secret from a Wardrobe Stylist ;).

R- Do any style of capris look good on pears?

SYL- Easy Peasy, The ONLY style/length of capri I recommend to any client regardless of height and body type is the "Ankle Capri" (straight leg) it is the most universally flattering cut.

MOST other capris cut you mid calf and SHORTEN your legs.

Every time there is a change of color on your body the eye stops, the mid calf capri tells the eye to stop at your calf, which makes your leg look shorter to others!
