It's only the first trimester of my second pregnancy but i have seen my baby's profile through ultrasound three times already. The firat one was at 11 weeks and the second and third was at 13 weeks which is this week. The reason is that we cannot hear the heartbeat on the doppler. The doctor can not catch it, but she could hear lots of movements in there. So they use ultrasound to hear the hearbeat which i prefer more because i can also see him/her. Baby is still so tiny but is already moving a lot. It is too cute to see and also a relieve. I don't worry too much now that i know that my baby is alreay active. I hope next time he/she would let us hear the heartbeat on the doppler.

My daughter is 2 years old and at her age she is really into learning. I am proud to say that she is a very good learner. And yes she already know her ABC's, colors, some shapes and numbers. She is such a smarty pants as i always say. And talking about talent, i am already picturing a future AI. haha! Yeah, she loves to sing and dance. She is constantly shaking her butt off everytime she hears a good dancing beat. And she sings along whenever she hears the music of Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Rihanna and of course her ever love Justin Bieber. It's like a dilemma to a mom like me to hear her two years old kid talking about Justin constantly. Yeah, She is crazy about Justin Bieber. In fact she watched "never Say Never" quite a few times before we were able to return the dvd back in the mail. She also watches his music videos on youtube. She cries when Justin appears on tv just for a short period of time. I mean what is with my girl? It really makes her happy seeing his face on tv or over the internet. Her smile is from ear to ear and even giggles like a teenager. I hope she will get through this fascination over Justin when she grow up. For now she's still got the bieber fever!

Not a total comeback

It has been a very long time since i updated this blog. Though sometimes i still open and browse through other blogs. Reading and blogwalking, looking for something new. I can't seem to find the energy to post something here. I don'tknow.... maybe i was just being lazy or can't think of what to talk about and blah to post. I thought of not updating this anymore but last time i open this blog it was PR2. How that happened? LOL

Well, an update about my life.... and my journey i am 12 weeks pregnant as of this time with my second baby. My two years old princess is soon to be a big sister. Right now she is not yet aware of that cuz when i ask her if she wanted a baby brother or a baby sister, her answer is she wanted a "meow!" But she knew that there is a baby in mommy's tummy. She sometimes talk to it while rubbing my tummy. I actually tell her what to say. I know she is going to be a good big sister.

We wanted a boy this time and we are hoping for that. But whatever God will bless us as long as it is a healthy baby we will love him/her unconditionally. I can't wait for us to know the gender though. I pray that this time there will be no more complications in my pregnancy cuz i don't want to go through what i have been at the first. It was traumatic but everything was worth it that is why i wanted to have another baby. And because we don't want Ashley to grow up alone.

On the other side of my life, until now i haven't got my driver's license yet. It is simply becuse i didn't get much practice that i needed. My husband is so busy. I planned to get it in the next couple of weeks but we got a new vehicle and it is a truck. I find it hard for me to drive a huge truck. So i guess i have to wait til i get my own small car. Besides my husband won't want me to drive his new truck.

So i guess that's it for an update. I don't know when is the next post coming but i will try. Cuz you know when laziness strikes.... it does get me! I can only write when my girl is napping. Just like right now.

It is so cute to dressed up a little girl. I feel like i have a living doll. I just want to share my little girl's recent photos. She didn't want to wear her sunglasses before but she see me and her dad wearing ours whenever we go out so she probably thought she would want to wear hers too. So now everytime i put it on her she's got a big smile on her face and dont want me to take it off even when she is already inside the house.

And it was my first to drive in the dark. I texted my husband and asked him if he could go to the store after work because we need a few things and groceries. He gets off at 9:30 pm, he texted me back and said he will come home to pick me and Ashley up then we will go to store but i will be driving. After reading his text i freak out a little and think to myself he is just joking. But knowing my husband he really mean what he says. So to ease my nervousness i told myself that i can do it. Of course at the back of my mind i still know that i am feeling nervous. Driving at night is way different from driving at daylight. Your views are limited given that i haven't tried driving at night.

Before 9:30 pm Ash and i are ready and just waiting on him. When he got home he wasn't expecting that we would be ready. So before i get in the car i took a deep breath. My husband told me that i should get use to driving at night so off we go. We stop at the gas station first before going to the store. I did pretty good except that when i did a left turn at the traffic light my husband freaked out because he thought i was going to the oncoming lane. i told him i wasnt going that way and i haven't even pulled out to my left. And i can see where i was going, gosh!! At this point in my driving lessons i need to practice more on parking. I thought i was easy but when i am doing it myself it is not. I can do it when there is no car park beside me but i find it hard when i am going to park beside somebody else's car. I am scared i might hit other car.

We got home safe by the way. LOL!

Egg Pie Recipe

I was craving for Egg Pie so i searched for recipe online and tried it myself. It turned out really good. The only hard part is making the dough because it requires a pastry mixer which i do not have so i just used any available tool that i have in which i think would help me do the mixing. You will find out what pastry mixer i am talking about on the procedure and i will provide a photo of it too.

Ingredients:

Pie Crust:

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cut into cubes

1/4 to 1/2 cup cold water

2 tablespoon granulated sugar

Filling:

1 3/4 cups evaporated milk

3 pieces raw eggs

1 piece egg, white separated from the yolk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup granulated sugar

Cooking procedure:

1. Create the crust

1.1 Combine the flour, sugar, and salt then mix well.

1.2 Add the butter in the middle and mix using a pastry mixer.

1.3 Gradually pour the cold water while mixing the ingredients. Continue mixing until all the ingredients are well incorporated.

1.4 Gather the dough and mold it into a ball-shaped figure.

1.5 Refrigerate the dough for at least 30 minutes to harden the butter.

1.6 Sprinkle flour on a clean flat surface and flatten the refrigerated dough using a rolling pin. The flattened dough should be wide enough to cover a 9 inch circular baking pan.

1.7 Arrange the flattened dough on top of the baking pan and cut the extra edge using a pair of scissors.

1.8 Refrigerate while doing the filling.

2. Make the filling

2.1 Scald the evaporated milk by heating it in the microwave oven for 2 minutes.

2.2 In a large mixing bowl, combine the 3 raw eggs and the separated egg yolk then whisk.

2.3 Gradually add the granulated sugar while whisking.

2.4 Put-in the vanilla extract then whisk until every ingredient is properly distributed.
2.5 Pour-in the scalded milk then mix thoroughly.

2.6 Beat the separated egg white using an electric mixer until it forms soft peaks.

2.7 Fold the processed egg white in the milk-eggs-sugar mixture.

3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Pour the filling mixture on the refrigerated pie crust.

5. Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit then lower the heat to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and continue baking for 30 to 40 minutes.

6. Remove the egg pie from the oven and let cool.

7. Serve for dessert. Share and enjoy!

It's true that time flies so fast especially when you are not waiting on something and just let time and days pass you by. I can't believe that i have been living here in US for almost three years. And in that period of time my life drastically changed. I have adopted the american style of living but i am not saying that i have forgotten my roots. i am still a filipino by blood, heart and attitude and i'm proud of that.

I want to raise my girl with filipino attitudes, and i will definitely introduce Filipino cultures to her. She may be living here in the US but i will teach her also the filipino way and style of living. I want her to learn the filipino language so she can talk to her relatives in the Philippines. It is also easier for them because they are not fluent in english. So as early as now i am already communicating with her in tagalog. They said that it is easier to teach them and for them to learn while they are still babies. Sometimes i feel she gets confused because i am talking to her in two diferent language.

This coming October we will be going to the Philippines for a vacation. I am going to buy some filipino books so i can teach her to read tagalog words. My husband can also benefit from those books because he is also willing to learn tagalog language. I am so excited!

Distracted

One of the reasons why i was not writing for the past many months was i can not focus. I am always distracted by my daughter. When i am starting to think of something to write here she is either clinging on me or screaming, crying or just want my attention. I have never taken many paid opportunities because it is nearly impossible for me to formulate a sentence. I wanted to earn money even when i am only staying at home, getting a job is not yet a good option for now cuz my girl is still too young and we dont want to put her on daycare. Oh well i hope i could do better. Maybe when she is napping is the best time to do writings.

Coming Back... Update and Random!

It's been a very long time since i opened my blog. i didn't update it too for the reason that i have been busy taking care of my angel. she is now almost 14 months old. She's been walking and loves cruising around the house. Yes, our house. We moved in almost 3 months ago and we are so happy that we have now our own space and not sharing walls with somebody else. We have all the privacy we needed and can do whatever since it is our own now.I can hang any decors i want on the walls without thinking of taking it down anytime soon. We also painted some walls. Our house is the biggest investment we have done so far. Atleast we know where our money is going, unlike renting an apartment. We are also happy with the neighborhood we are in because it is so quuiet and peaceful. Neighbors are so friendly. I take Ashley out for a walk almost everyday.And she just loves being outside especially when see dogs.

Theres has been a lot of changes in our life since we had our baby and bought a house. I am also practicing driving. i am enrolled at a driving school, and so far evrything is working good. I have three more lessons with them then im done. My husband let me drive our car around our area whenever we go somewhere. I have gained the confidence, thanks to my coaches! they are awesome! They are so calm and i cant explain the patience they put up on me. I am a first time driver and they were so amazed by how fast i learned the skills. And i'd say it is all because of them. They push me to gain the confidence. I will not say that i am ready to do the road test anytime soon because i still need a lot of practice. I dont feel ready just yet.

When im not practicing, i am just home with my girl. taking care of her because she is so playful now and of course doing house chores. Or just watching TV, facebooking, or anything. Sometimes i wanted to continue blogging but i dont know why i cant motivate myself to write, or maybe because i dont have anything to write or i am just being lazy. weh?! It happens all the time. LOL! I just hope that i can get the motivation to write again after this post. I will try! I want to keep this blog. Because this is MINE!!! :) Anyway, have a great day everyone!! My Ashley

It's been so long. i really didn't have time to update this blog anymore, i have been so busy with my family especially with my Ashley. She has grown so big now. She is now eight months old and is learning to crawl forward cuz she is doing it backwards. Silly baby! It is just amazing to see her learning new things everytime. She is babbling pa-pa and ma-ma. She's on stage 3 baby food and really good in chewing her food. Oh she got two lower front teeth now. actually he started teething at five and a half months. She loves to scream a lot especially when shes on her high chair. She like to watch Taylor Swift's music videos. Singer in the making huh?! haha!

I am so blessed to have her, she is a beautiful baby and i just can't get enough of her. I love staring at her when shes sleeping. Where did time go? Eventually she'll be walking and talking. Time flies so fast. My husband and i are just so excited for her. She is precious in everybody's eyes. She is a little bit spoiled cuz shes the first girl granchild, grandma just can't stop shopping for her. Truly being a parent is so rewarding. I just love being a mommy, my life had changed a lot but i am loving every minute of it.

Long Birth Story

Last May 13 i had a doctor's appointment at 3 pm. My husband and i went to the clinic and i was seen by Dr. Scott. It's my first time to meet him. I always see different doctors every appointment cuz they are a group. So he asked me to give them a urine sample and he took my vital sign. My blood pressure was elevated, as usual thats why i am being close monitored during my last trimester. My lab test came back and he told us that my urine has protein and blood spots so he send us over to the labor and delivery. He told me and my husband we have to get that baby out. It's time! I was shocked! So i asked him what is my option, CS or vaginal delivery. Thank God he says vaginal. So i am going to have a normal delivery thru induction.

My husband and i went to L&D and they put me in a room and they started monitoring my baby's heartbeat and my contraction (NST). After an hour maybe they sent us to a labor room. Everything that is needed for delivery is there. It was a big room. There is also a big sofa bed where my husband could sleep at night. My husband just got back to work after a 3 months leave 2 days before i was admitted. He had a spine surgery last feb. Good thing it was his day off fri and sat. i was admitted wednesday. He took a personal leave thurs. He doesn't wanna leave me. So at around 6-7 pm they started the induction. Because my blood pressure is elevated they gave me magnesium sulfate thru IV. Oh boy! that made my experience miserable. why? because it made me groggy and nauseaus. i was in total bed rest. i cant walk so i was on a catheter.

Could you imagine peeing without even feeling it? The nurse collected my 24 hr pee for lab test. i was told i have pre eclampsia. so before it is too late or something happens to me they have to get my baby delivered. A doctor check me if i am dilating and amazing i was already 3 cm. So we have to get it going so she put a medicine inside down there (you know) And i must also say that its not fun when they check the dilation. if you are just starting to dilate it hurts so bad. But as it progresses the pain is lesser when checked. The goal was i should deliver by thursday. But nothing happened thursday. i was just laying in bed feeling miserable. i can't even turn to my sides. my back hurts so bad i wanted to scream and just go home and forget about everything. lol!

Early friday morning came at around 2-3 a.m. the doctor came to check me and my water broke accidentally (or intentionally) her finger was there when it broke so i dont know if she really broke it. The nurse told me that the contraction will get stronger now that the water is broken. And she was right! At 5 a.m. i already asked for the epidural cuz i can't take it anymore. the pain is overwhelming and i just had enough. After giving it to me i felt a lot better. again i had a catheter on my back. imagine that. i was like a voodoo doll, they poke me every 6 hrs to draw blood for test. My arms were swollen, and even my face. I can hardly open my eyes. all my veins in my arms and hands were all poke.

At 5 a.m. the same doctor came in again to check the dilation and she finally said its time. So the nurse instructed me to start pushing to get the baby's head drop to engage in the canal. i pushed for 2 hrs even though i was so weak and very groggy. At 8 a.m. there were a lot of doctors and nurses inside my room. But believe me i didn't see them all cuz my eyes were shut the whole time. me, a poor thing! though they all introduce themself to me and my husband. My husband said there were about 12 people inside the room. The baby's head is still high so a female doctor says we wneed help. what is? a forcep or vaccum. so she explain the pros and cons of each. i chose the forcep. less harm on the baby but with a bigger damage on me. i didn't really care i just want my baby's safety.

So it all started, they put the forcep and and when my contraction came i started pushing. at three pushes my baby wa out. My husband told me he cried like a baby when he saw our little one. They took her away, clean her and check her. she was fine its just that her blood sugar level was low so they need to put her in the ICU. She was affected with the magnesium sulfate i had for my bp. I wasn't able to hold my baby right away cuz i was so weak and my eyes were still shut. i kissed her before they took her away to ICU. Then on me, my blood pressure went down to 70/30. So they called a doctor and gave me medicine to make it go up. I also had a third degree tear. thats the damage i was talking about. after everything was done they put me back on a catheter and magnesium sulfate.

That night i had bleeding, i lost about 800cc. So i needed a blood transfusion. another poke another IV on my right hand. Now i have 2 IV's. How cool is that! but i cant complain, i need it or i'll die. i was really so exhausted. i can't even sleep cuz they would check on me every hour. check the bleeding, my belly ( wasn't fun at all when they press it) the swelling down there and my vital signs. My blood pressure was again elevated. record break 159/108. So in other words they keep us 6 days in the hospital all because of my high blood pressure. They decided to add the dosage of my medicine to see if it go down, thank Goodness it did! They discharge us but i still need to back every week for a blood pressure check. And until now i am taking medication.

So that is all what happened during my labor and delivery. It's not easy at all but its all WORTH it!! My baby is so precious here's a picture of her.

Hi everyone! I'm back! I just wanted to announce that i already gave birth last May 15. it was an unexpected date. i will tell you the details of my delivery and birth story of my precious baby girl on my next post. I also want to apologize again for not visiting you for a long atime, i hope you all understand. Now my life is completely diffferent. I am adjusting with everything especially in a motherhood world. Until now i haven't rested so well. I experience a very very miserable situation but its all worth it. And all you will know on the next post....

My parents in law are also with us and will be staying with us for maybe a month til our baby is born. Of course they dont wanna miss their first grand daughter's birth. I am still doing my NST twice a week so we are kinda busy. That's why i apologize if i wont be able to visit you back but i will try my best to be here once in a while.

More Monitoring

So here's what happened with my last visit to the doctor on monday. My appointment was as early as 8:45 a.m. so we were there a lilttle bit earlier than that because it is crazy to find a parking spot. But we got lucky this time cuz we didn't drive round and round the parking space just to look for a spot, We got one right away when one car got off.

So when we got up to our destination, submitted my 24 hrs. urine collection for lab test and they let us in right away. The nurse checked my weight, i'm now weighing 137lbs. then put us in a checking room and she took my blood pressure and it was normal. The medicine they gave me is really a big help in stabilizing my blood pressure. So we thought we won't be spending much time in the clinic but the doctor wants to put me into monitoring again and more blood test. So i got poke again! Yes, i am already immune to needles. Well that's life!

So they monitored my baby's heart rate and my contractions. They said it will only take about 20-30 minutes but since they can't get the acceleration they wanted from my baby's heart rate they prolonged the time. Maybe i was on a monitor for almost an hour then the doctor decided to send me to the labor and delivery. For more monitoring. I'm not giving birth yet! lol! So at the L&D they observed my baby's heart rate. It was normal but they wanted to see some acceleration. Her heart rate base was 145 and they want to see it go up like 150-155 and so on... At that time she was maybe sleeping cuz i know when my baby is active, mornings she's usually sleeping and she is hyper in the afternoon til night and early morning.

They also did an ultrasound for fluid, her reflexes and movement check. Everything was normal and she is perfectly healthy. We were so happy to see our little one again. So we spend 5 hrs in the hospital last monday. We were not expecting that so we were so hungry when we got out. They only gave me some juices and water to take just to awaken my baby a little bit. Good thing she cooperated after a while. She gave them what they wanted. When we got off the hospital my husband and i stop somewhere nearby to eat.

On thursday we will be going back again. Starting this week my doctors visit is already twice a week for a Non-Stress test. Just for monitoring. And the nurese-midwife told us that our baby might come out earlier than the due date. They are still observing if a pre-eclampsia is developing that is why i am going through all these test. I hope and pray that everything is normal.

in the hospital yesterday after the nurse checked my blood pressure. The doctor talked to me and my hsuband and explained that they need to keep me in the hospital for 24 hours for close monitoring of my blood pressure because it was way elevated. We were not so expecting it! We were not ready. We were just suppose to drop off my 24 hour urine collection and have them check my BP. But because it was way too high the doctors were scared that a preeclampsia might be developing. They also did another lab test of my urine and blood and all the results were normal. What's is so surprising is that i am not feeling any symptoms of it. I remember when i felt my BP went up for the first time it was like 130/90 and i felt sick already. But yesterday it was higher than that. The systolic were ranging from 138-140's and the diastolic were from 98-102. Can you imagine that? and i wasn't feeling anything at all! Everytime they check it was always like that. I don't understand why? It was so weird. Even them find it weird cuz i look perfectly healthy and not showing any signs of it. I wasn't feeling any abdominal pain which is one of the major signs of preeclampsia.

So they put me in a room, monitored my baby's heartbeat and movements. Had ultrasound to measure her and how she is growing and everything looked perfectly fine. She was so active and moving tons. They take my blood pressure from time to time. Draw blood and i wasn't happy with my experience with that. The nurses hands were so heavy. I was poke four times in different spots. And it hurts like hell! I didn't sleep good the whole night because the bed was so stiff and the pillows were uncomfortable. And they keep on waking me up to check my vital signs every four hours. Good thing after they gave me some pills for my BP it went down and gone back to normal. The whole night it was stable. So morning came, the resident doctor came to my room and told me that all my test were normal, my baby is healhty so they can send me home. Whoa! What a relief! Thank God i can go home and get snooze in our soft and comfortable bed. I was like floating when i woke up this morning cuz i barely sleep last night in the hospital. So they fixed evrything, gave me my pescription and i need to collect a 24 hour urine again starting sunday and will be back in the hossy on monday to drop it off and another blood pressure check.

When we got home I called my parents in law cuz they were so worried about me. After that i freshen up and hubby made something for me to eat. then i crawl up in bed and take time to sleep. My neck was so sore from thed pillow in the hospital and until now after many hours of sleep i can still feel it. I still feel like sh*t! I hope i will feel a lot better tomorrow.

Bed Wanted

Our apartment has two bedrooms but one bedroom doesn't have a bed. We didn't bother to buy one more bed because we thought that we will use the spare bedroom as a nursery for our baby. But my husband and i changed our mind and decided that the we will put the baby's crib in our bedroom just beside our bed so we can monitor her from time to time and it is easier to check on her. Since the other bedroom is empty we are thinking of buying a new bed so my parents in law have somewhere to sleep when they come down visit and spend some time with us when our baby is born. I found this rustic furniture online with a very nice set of bed. I like its very simple design. I find it cute. This bed will look good in our spare bedroom and i'm sure my parents in law will like it too.
