FOUR WALLS RELEASED ON 27th FEBRUARY…

I am very excited to tell you that FOUR WALLS (Nine live house show recordings) is being released on Monday 27th February by Lazy Acre Records. It will be a ‘Pay what you Want’ release via Bandcamp with a handmade CD and download. It features nine tracks recorded at two different house shows in the summer of 2011. I am really pleased with the recordings and how really capture the intimate vibe of house shows. Here is a handmade CD which features artwork from the brilliant Cheyenne Bristow again…

WARWICK ARTS CENTRE GIG

As 2011 comes towards an end my music has been picking up some little awards. THIS IS A POPSCENE have awarded my Whole Picture EP their ‘EP of the Year’ which I am very excited about. I recorded a little thank you message for them…

A couple of weeks ago I popped into BBC Coventry and Warwickshire to talk to Hannah Tobin from the Introducing team. The interview was aired last night and you can listen on IPlayer HERE. The first part of the interview is 10 minutes in to the show and the second part of 47 minutes in. Beyond the Flags and Left to Hide both got played on the show. I have recorded three special Christmas covers for you to download for FREE. I have rerecorded Silent Night and White Christmas which I released last year and this year I have also recorded Jingle Bells. I do hope you like them. Please share them with your friends.

I have also added a number of live dates in December on my LIVE GIGS page as well as some some lovely dates in the new year. I will be playing at Warwick Arts Centre in February with the brilliant Chris Tye and at Ditch the TV in March with Paper Aeroplanes.

As you know last month I asked you about remixing my music. Well I have had some amazing remixes shared with me and 6 of these will be released in January with a remix of ‘Something Worth Keeping’ being a single. I would like your help to make the video. The song is a lot about things that are precious and worth keeping and so if you have photos or video footage that you are happy for me to use in the video that please email them to me at mr[dot]stylusboy[at]gmail[dot]com . I really love ‘retro’ style photography and film and slightly abstract images. These images could be objects, places or even people but please only send me image you are happy for me to share with everyone. You will be given a ‘thank you’ at the end of the video. I am very excited about this project!

The lovely people at Glasgow PodcArt have written a great review of ‘Whole Picture EP’. They say:

“The EP opens with the title track ‘Whole Picture‘ and immediately you’re struck by the wholly positive energy the high-tempo brings. The drums skip along nicely, alongside a great acoustic guitar. Supporting the whole sound is a really good bass guitar. Vocally it’s pretty special too where Jones’ voice is instantly likable and with the addition of Rachel Grisedale’s accompanying vocals, the sound takes on a warm, rich feel. I thought it would be really interesting to ask people to remix all the songs from ‘Whole Picture EP’ so this is what I am doing. I have been in touch with several people who are already busy on remixes which is very exciting. I thought I would also offer anyone else who would like a go the individual tracks (stems) to Whole Picture. You can download my vocal, Rachel’s vocal and my guitar via my DROPBOX (VOCAL STEM, VOCAL 2 STEM, GUITAR STEM) (click on the links). Here is the original version:
