Always on the lookout for ways to make my life easier and more convenient, I found this nifty Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin that upgrades Wordpress to the latest version automatically. Naturally I was skeptical about it actually working, and prepared for the worst! The Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin worked like a charm!

Installation of the Wordpress Automatic upgrade plugin is easy!

1. Download the wordpress-automatic-upgrade zip file to your local machine.
2. Unzip the file.
3. Upload wordpress-automatic-upgrade folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
4. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.

Now you are ready to either step through the upgrade or let it run on its own. I decided to step through the upgrade. During the upgrade, you are asked to provide your FTP credentials — the plugin makes sure that whichever files it writes can be deleted by the user without having to contact the system administrator.

This plugin goes out and grabs the latest Wordpress version from Wordpress.org. You also have the option to download it prior to performing the upgrade and uploading it from your local computer. Along the way, Wordpress DB backups are created which you can download to your local computer. Your blog is also placed into maintenance mode which the upgrade completes.

The Wordpress Automatic Upgrade Plugin also deactivates all plugins. I had to reactivate all the plugins when the upgrade finished. The good news is that all my plugin settings were saved so there was nothing further to do with plugins except to reactivate.

The whole process of upgrading Wordpress to 2.5 was smooth as silk with the Wordpress Automatic Upgrade plugin. I highly recommend it if you are looking to upgrade your blog to the latest version. After upgrading to the latest Wordpress version, you will get to experience the new and improved user interface, plus a bunch of new features:

We did everything from biking through the Costa Rican countryside to the Pacific ocean where we then boarded an outrigger canoe and paddled to a secluded beach. Another day we ziplined through the rainforest canopy. We also went to Caño Island, one of the best snorkeling/diving spots in the world. There was hiking and biking through tropical subalpine forests and meadows and the trip was topped off with rafting down the Class III-IV Pacuare River.

I had a fabulous vacation. The ziplining was an exhilarating and fun experience. I was a little scared at first but the guys in charge were real pros and had me zipping through the rainforest canopy in no time. If you ever get down to Jaco Beach, Costa Rica, don’t miss the Waterfalls Canopy tour.

Although all the hotel accomodations were great, my favorite was the Cristal Ballena hotel at Playa Ballena. Every room offers a breathtaking ocean view. The service was excellent too. On our boat ride to Cano Island, we had a school of dolphins racing along with our boat playfully in the ocean.

The real highlight of the trip was the Pacuare White Water river  rafting (level 3 - 4). What a blast! The river canyon is gorgeous, the river guide was one of the best in the world, and experiencing this beautiful wilderness was breathtaking.

I can’t say enough fabulous things about my trip to Costa Rica with Costa Rica Expeditions. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, organized, and friendly. The whole experience was unforgettable and I can’t wait to go back!

Here is a taste of my experience with Build a Niche Store.

I downloaded the software, which came with 2 PDF manuals: Installation and Setup. I already had a domain name that I planned to use for my niche store as well as web server space so I was anxious to get started.

I followed the steps in the Installation guide and everything went smoothly. In this step I uploaded the niche store files to my web server, changed permissions on a file, added a SQL database and user. I never created a SQL database and user but the instructions were very clear.  Then I completed the installation from an Internet web browser. The basic niche store was setup in under 15 minutes.

Next, I setup the basic framework of my niche store from the Niche Store Admin panel (this is where all the real magic takes place) with my ebay affiliate ID and ebay categories that I planned to target. I did a little ebay research to find the correct category and entered the category number in my niche store admin panel. I then setup a new eBay affiliate campaign and entered that number in my admin panel.

Voila, the store was setup with functioning categories and eBay auction listings. The menu doesn’t just include one category… all sub-categories display in the niche store menu on your niche store site so you can have a pretty long list of categories.

The category store pages are automatically generated based on eBay auctions. You can format your auctions five ways too! You can also leave the eBay store pages as the default or you can add text, your own meta tags, menu navigation text, and ads — all from within the admin panel.

You can also add your own static content pages. This is a great place to add interesting articles that will attract visitors and search engines. Again, you do this from with the admin panel.

There is also a place in the admin panel where you can place ads on the top, left, right, or bottom of your eBay niche store. You can ad affiliate links, Adsense, or anything else you want.

The generated pages seem to be SEO friendly so far too.

The technical work is fairly easy. I found the instructions extremely clear and easy to understand and follow.

My next step is to start doing a little marketing as well as adding some content pages to make my niche stores more interesting.

So, the truth is that Build a Niche Store is a great tool for me to build a store in a content management type environment. And I love the possibilities: 12 countries, 60 million products. Plus I am having a lot of fun with customization and just thinking of a new niche market to target. My niche store has already paid for itself. At just $97, it was a really good deal.

But again, it is a worthwhile investment for me because it is software that I can actually create something with (a niche store) in a short amount of time.

It truly is easy to use.
