    Game Play -

    After playing Borderlands 2 at PAX and loving it I had to get this game. I picked up Borderlands 2 for PS3 on release day and fired it up. To me this game was a great halfway point between 2 of my passions in the gaming world, FPSs and MMO-RPGs. I decided to roll Sal the Gunzerker since I played a warrior in Warcraft and the fact that I loved being in the thick of it. Sal is a very robust character with some pretty nifty abilities. You can build him out as a tank or a glass canon (Puts out BIG numbers but is very very squishy). His special ability is Gunzerking which allows you to dual wield 2 weapons at the same time while your rate of fire, accuracy and reloaded speed is increased. I played through the PS3 version until I was about level 16 and put it down for a bit. Coming from a PC gaming background and playing a FPSs using a console control was a bit cumbersome. I decided to pick up the PC version and boy was that a world of a difference! I was able to pass my PS3 level in about 3 hours of game play on PC and what chugging along pretty well. I was able to hook up with one of my longtime gaming buddy that I used to play all my FPSs with. We power leveled my toon up to level 45 in about 16 hours of playtime which I did in about 1 week. I was able to get to 50 over a weekend and started to worry about gear at that point. My Sal is currently decked out in a bunch of legendaries (Bee Shield, Baby Maker, Conference Call, Legendary Gunzerker Mod, etc…). Sal is not the best DPS in the game but with the right weapon combination he can hold his own quite nicely. I picked up the season pass from Steam and have played all the new bosses release so far. Pyro Pete is probably my favorite since this takes some planning just like 95% of the WoW bosses do. I give the game play a thumbs up!

    Multiplayer –

    I played the multiplayer portion for a bit on both platforms. When I first picked up the game for PS3, I played with Greg for a couple of sessions and eventually his brother in-law got a copy and we jammed it out. After I switched over to the PC version all I played was pretty much multiplayer for loot and leveling purposes. After I would out gear a mission in single player I would go back and breeze through the storyline. I have to say that the multiplayer aspect of this game is by far the best thing ever. From time to time you will run into some douche bags stealing loot when you kill a boss but other than that I think the multiplayer game play is spot on. There is nothing like rolling into a area littered with enemies and popping Gunzerking and mowing down everything!!

    Storyline –

    I played though the story line in both Normal mode and True Vault Hunter mode. You cannot play TVHM without beating normal first. The story line is fairly short for the game but that is not a bad thing. I was able to get to level 35ish after playing normal and hit level 50 about 85% of the way through TVHM. The main villain is Handsome Jack (Annoying as shit) who is trying to open a Vault that contains some weapon/treasure and your job of course is to stop him.. After fighting with the Hyperions and bandits for a bit you end up fighting Jack! The last battle in the game is fantastically epic and gets you pumped to play it again. When you kill the last boss it literally shits loot all over the place.. well not literally but it drops a ton of shit.

    Wrap Up –

    This game is stupendous! The storyline is not too long and drown out. The characters in the game mesh well as far as support goes and the ability to customize your character to your play style with the talent trees makes this a blast to play. Did I mention the artwork and graphics!?! I love the look! It’s got that cartoony feel but it is far from your average cartoon unless this was Adult Swim.. and they curse and make rude gestures. I would recommend this to anyone that is in love with MMO-RPGs or FPSs.     The initial update seemed like it took forever.  Overall, I think it was 90 minutes.  After that everything seemed to be OK.  I had read on twitter that many were having problems with the system freezing.  I did not experience any of that until later on.  Apparantly it has to do with MiiVerse and there is some glitch in the online system.  I hope Nintendo fixes this soon because it does not bode well for the system spread by word of mouth.  Everytime I tried to show off the system, it would go and freeze on me.  SO ANNOYING!!!!

    There will always be some bumps and bruises in the early run of a system’s life cycle.  I am hoping this introductory period doesn’t last for too much longer.

    Current PS plus subscribers will not need an additonal subscription.  Plus Vita subscribers will have 1GB of cloud storage for game saves, automatic updates and trophy syncing.

Yea, this article is late. You wanna fight about it? There were more games there but it also seemed like there were just more people as well. It was a shit show.  At NYCC 2011 I was able to get my hands on a handful of high-end games that were present.  I did not have very much luck at NYCC 2012.  The Sony booth was swamped at all times.  I very much wanted to get my hands on Playstation All-Stars but all the kiosks were constantly packed and there were no time limits it seemed.  The costumes were fantastic as always and there seemed to be a higher quality this year.  Tim(diabetic who is sometimes on the podcast) and I walked through the whole convention rather quickly.  There really wasn’t much to stop and look at.  This year was really all about the panels.  We had tried to get into a couple of the bigger ones and they were already all packed.  I had intended on staying for the live Podcast Beyond but I was so god damn tired from all of the walking.  Next year will be better, hopefully.
