Oh wait…what’s that sweet little thing peeking out from behind my sweater collection?

There it is, a complete look on a hanger.  Saved.  My new striped jersey Plenty dress by Tracy Reese is like a beacon of light beaming out through a sea of sweaters, I am rescued from a crazed panic and suddenly I feel kind of fantastic.  Rich in brilliantly bold color using my favorite neutral for spring, navy, the design of this dress is so incredibly feminine I feel like a starlet.  Something of a vintage inspired piece I love everything about this dress.

I love the cinched waist with drawstring, it allows me to decide just how cinched my waist should be.  I love the length of the skirt striking just below the knee, I love the open design of the back, and this dress is just so incredible.  Perfect with black tights for now, and bare legs with a great wedge for later.

Now if I can just find my car keys, I’m all set…

To top it all off, I got an email yesterday from the Managing Director of Ahead of the Fashion with the next line up for the March 6th Keiretsu Forum and my favorite San Francisco Menswear designer, Daniel Sudar is going to present!

If you aren’t familiar with him, I can sum it up pretty quickly for you. I met him–no wait, scratch that. I experienced Daniel’s presence before I even knew that he was is the room! Matter of fact, I hadn’t met him yet; I just felt him. Sounds crazy, but it’s true. Let me explain.

It was SFFNO- Fashions Night Out at 5 Claude Lane. Myself and a handful of fashion lovers, hosted Fashions Racked for Owen Geronimo of SFFAMA. Like most events, you tend to see the usual suspects with a few hopefuls mixed in. Much to my surprise, the room had a new energy to it an it was electric! A sort of rebirth to the SF fashion scene. New faces, new names and new networks surrounded me embracing FNO with excitement.

It was toward the end of the party and the crowd was winding down. A significant amount of guests and shoppers were still milling around and a healthy buzz from the vendors when there was a small hush that slowly came over the crowd. Curious to see what the hush was about, I turned around to see some unfamiliar faces making their way up the stairs of the entryway. Four chiseled male faces wearing perfectly tailored clothing entered the room and literally, the room stopped. Or maybe just I did. Nope, the whole room stopped, turned and jaws dropped. Four gorgeous models quiety entered the room with such a powerful presence it could have been thunder. And that wasn’t all…they were dressed so well. Who were they?

It was as if the Red Sea had parted. People just stepped back in awe of their beauty and moreso their clothing. Then, as if on que, Daniel graciously enters wearing an all white jacket, a stark opposite of his models. Ummmm, drool much? I had to find out who he was.

Needless to say, I made sure to get some face time in and shower him with complimets. His designs are literally breath taking and I can’t wait to see him at the upcoming Ahead of the Fashion event. Selfish? Maybe. Yes, completely so. I want a front row seat to his presentation.

Metallic eyeshadow and shoes, are making their way into my heart one shimmer at a time. Palettes made of silvery blue hues have decorated the faces of Givenchy, Philip Lim and more.

Tribal nails are the rage from Pamela Love. Painted in an upside down V shape using a light color for the base and a darker, bold color for the V. I have also seen nail rings on a few models but I just can’t get on board with that one. Stick to the nail art instead.

Bold, beautiful brows are another trend that I have a soft spot for. Since thick eyebrows are my signature, I can’t help but love this look. Some of the brows are more than I can handle but most can be designed with a simple brow kit. You may want to grow yours out a bit just for fun!

Contouring your cheeks is a must this season. As you can see in the image above and the image below, bronzer is used to create definition and make the cheekbones pop.

Soft, shimmery, dewey make-up is also something on every Gap model in their new Be Bright campaign. Make-up is soft and shimmery with subtle eyes and bright, glossy lips.

Bright electric lip color and stained lips is something I will embrace. The stained lips are matte and bold some with a multi colored look from inner lip to lip line.

Pinterest is the hot new social channel that everyone is quickly becoming addicted to. An online pin board, similarly to a traditional cork board, allows users to virtually pin images onto categorized boards. You can organize and categorize images that inspire you. Say for example, you are seeking a new hairstyle and need a how-to or want to remodel your home am want ideas. Or maybe you are looking for dinner ideas and need a recipe. This is your one stop shop for all inspiration. It is perfect for the creative in you.

I think of Pinterest is the ultimate online picture book overflowing with ideas. Millions of unique visitors log on daily to become visually inspired by numerous images. Like other social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter, you follow people and people follow you. There are general categories such as Style, Food & Drink, Hair & Beauty, Wedding, Home Decor, Architecture, Art and more. It is seriously the best thing since sliced bread. Ok, maybe not. Make that the invention of the iPhone. Yes, it’s THAT much fun.

Our bikini styles has come along way since then and tend to hide very little if at all in some cases. Vintage style swimwear is a throwback to when bikinis were a style statement and worn like an outfit. Tan lines were less of a concern and class was everything. Similarly to my previous post on How To Wear a Sexy Bra Top, this trend is one that can make you look like a super sexy pin-up girl or a frump muffin. Here are some tips when looking for the perfect vintage swimsuit.

1) Choose the right style for your body type. This will be the most important decision that you make for any swimsuit style vintage or not. It is important to accentuate your favorite areas and disguise your least. To learn more about which body type you are, click here.

2) Avoid thigh flaps and poochy bottoms. What does that mean? For many women, disguising their upper thigh and lower abdomen is desired. The image on the left will only draw more attention to the upper thigh. The second image demonstrates the “poochy” bottom. If you want to look like you are in the early stages of pregnancy or haven’t used the bathroom in weeks, go for it but I highly discourage this look.

3) Create an hour glass shape for a true pin-up girl look. Find a high fitted waist, such as the bottoms below, that are form fitting and create shape. Worried about belly fat? Wear this sexy little number. The bold
Lines break up the look and create shape for you defining each area.

4) Build-A-Boob and I am not referring to pads. If you have a smaller bra cup, find a top that creates the look of a larger cup and gives the illusion of balance like the green one below. Avoid styles like the one in yellow. If you have large breasts that you want to conceal, choose a top that covers and supports.

Big bold wedges, brightly colored shorts, geometric skirts and tea length skirts are all so flirty and fun. There have been a number of new designs that people tend to shy away from in fear that they will be too loud or over do it. One style that sticks out in my mind as a piece that if done well will be the hottest thing this side of Costa Rica. If worn incorrectly, all hell will break loose. What piece might that be? The Bra Top.

Seen on numerous runways with variations of style, one thing is consistent: a high waist bottom.

WARNING!! Please note! I feel that this trend philosophy is the same as the previous skinny jean trend. You have to have skinny genes to wear skinny jeans. Ok? Same here. The bra top should only be worn by a small percentage of the US population and if you fall into the category of questionable, admire from a distance.

The key to wearing the bra top is to keep the amount of skin showing to a minimum.

Match it with a high waisted pant or skirt. Tea length skirts are all the rage right now and adding length to the lower half will make you appear taller. Wear a structured wedge to increase your height potential even more.

Wear a playful Boyfriend Sweater with the bottom buttons buttoned so just a peak of the waist shows.

Wear a long sleeved cropped sweater or jacket to create a look similar to the image below, a long sleeved button down.

If you are intimidated by pairing wine, here is a quick tutorial on how to pair wine with food in this Basic Food and Wine Pairings article. I have added wines to pair with the menu below as a back up for you as well.

Course One: Fresh Oysters and Champagne
Freshly shucked oysters served with champagne vinagarette and fresh lemon wedges. Pair with champagne or sparkling wine of your choice. My favorite? Ariston Aspasie “Carte Blanche” Brut Champagne ($15.99 at K&L)

Course Two: Seared Thyme Lamb Shanks with Mint Gremolata and Cabernet
Seared Thyme Lamb Shanks with Mint Gremolata. Pair this course with a 2005 Schweiger Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District ($24.99 at K&L). This will need to be decanted at least two hours ahead of time so open it early and let it breathe.

Course Three: Dark Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Finish the meal with a variety of chocolate covered strawberries. Dark chocolate is a natural aphrodisiac and sure to earn Romeo (or Juliet) a kiss. These can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator. Designing them with stripes and sprinkles is completely optional. I prefer plain dark chocolate with the red tops and stems still in tact.

Personal vent, thanks for listening. And should Target be listening, can we make a deal and only allow 1 or 2 pieces per person on release day for the next big one so we don’t all have to pay twice as much to get the coveted pieces we have been dreaming about on e-bay? Thanks.

What I CAN tell you, is that when I did stomp out of my Target empty handed on Sunday; my feet were looking pretty awesome. I recently snagged the most rock star pair of black studded loafers by Matiko that an edgy little fashionista could dream of. Easy, slip on, snake skin embossed leather covered from heel to toe in tiny little gunmetal spikes. Ummm…kind of perfect, right? They are incredibly comfortable and obviously being black they work with just about everything in my closet. The loafer design itself is an amazing Spring trend that lends an air of masculinity leaning on the borrowed from your boyfriend look, and the undeniable functionality of a flat shoe is kind of perfect for those of us that spend most of our days on our feet. They are incredibly flexible, no stiff sides to rub painful blisters against my skin, and they look distinctly like a fab pair of LouBoutin’s I have had on my wish list for several months. Love!
