They fall into that miscellaneous category but none the less have a definite place at Summerfest. Whether it's the many magicians that make the festival great for the kids, the BMX acts that truly get the fans going, or the Unicycler Juggler (Marcus Monroe) throwing around flaming objects just mere feet from the audience.

Major musical acts might be big anchors for Summerfest, but surely these "side acts" draw good sized crowds and provide an alternative to just purely music. I for one think this is great that Summerfest provides so many things to do there.

Am I alone in thinking that these acts are great for the atmosphere of Summerfest or do you to have a favorite "side act"?

Still a family festival?

When Summerfest first broke ground, it was a place for Wisconsinites young and old alike. It was very much a family affair that would draw large droves of people of all ages. The grumbles that I have been hearing lately, however, is that Summerfest has now been taken over at night time by the young (and drunk).

While I respect the viewpoints of many of the adults around me, I feel that Summerfest is still largely a family festival. The shift, however, has been that most of the parents and seniors feel more comfortable going during the day, while the night is reserved for the younger crowd, with popular band line-ups usually slated for the nighttime shows. Is it simply that these "family types" prefer the daytime for it's convenience in accordance with their family's schedule?

Help me out here. I want to hear both sides of the aisle to feel out what people think. Do you think Summerfest is still a family oriented festival or do you believe that for the most part it is largely enjoyed by the younger generation?

Favorite Summerfest Memory

When people say Summerfest, many different things come to people's minds. If you enter between noon and 4p, admission is discounted. Children 2 and under can enter free of charge at any time.
