Swiss producer Steven Stone continues to unveil his talents with new release from Brazilian Grooveland Music. With Elisangela on the vocals, “Alucinada de Prazer” is “an uplifting feel-good tune featuring portuguese vocals and blending together sweet rhodes chords, funky guitar licks and trumpets solos over a latin-esque groove“. Remixers has all fortunately gone soulful as well, they are: Stereo Mutants, Jihad Muhammad, and a couple of local South American producers, Hernan Cronner and Jarrier Modrow. Solid release. Out on July 8th, and already tracklisted in my radioshow.

SHE stands for ‘Soulful House Experience‘ and is a well known Australian house brand, the booking agency, event promotion company and now also a label presenting its debut release. What is there more proper than signing the local DJ Jorj? Here he is again, with the late Abby Joyce (the vox behind Simon Grey’s Prophecy and Galactica Suite) and slammin’ “What Am I To Do“. For those who are new into DJing or switched to digital recently, it’s quite hard to find older releases in good quality. Following up with this trend labels now do a great job re-releasing greatest oldies. King Street is one of these pacesetters. Originally from 2004, “If We Could Fly” by Philly producers Soul Dhamma is now available digitally in the full package, with originals and Dennis Ferrer’s Get Away versions. Guitar riffs, trumpets and xylos along with Donni’s vocals all make this beautiful blast from the past well worth ours hard drives.

Jocasta is a songstress from Bristol, UK. She was luckily spotted by Evan & Parrish from Groove Junkies and resulted in brand new release by their MoreHouse scheduled to July 15th. “Girls Are Evil” is originally (also included in the package) a ska-pop song, but Groove Junkies Classic Vox is strictly for soulful lovers, with cool rhodes, strings, flute, sax, horn sections and live bass along with quirky vocal. GJs Regga House Mix is also there with the remnants of Original plus fancy afro house feelings, aiii.

DJN Project is NY based duo of Ruben ‘Swift’ Vidal and Rick ‘Galactik’ Wilkinson who met in 2005. Even though they were into hip-hop and R&B music, had the first house album in 2007, and then found their way to house scene performing at WMC 2008. They call their style ‘hip hop house‘. Now besides collaborations with Kenny Bobien and Arnold Jarvis announced (unreleased yet), DJN Project has “Take You Away” released on Vega Records. Check out the music video below.

Legendary Roy Davis Jr. was one of the responsible for acid house rise in late 80s but still does it the right way in deep and soulful arena. His vocalist Terry Dexter is also no stranger to the music having the solo album and having worked with such big names as Joe Cocker. Their new release “Horizon” will be out on June 16th at Smooth Agent. Besides leisurely Original, we have more intensive version from Chicago’s Andre Harris, deeper approach from Toronto’s Jason B and Julius the Mad Thinker & DJ Emmaculat and some 2-step and broken experience by UK’s Aaron Jerome. Having his new studio complete, Swiss young star Roberto De Carlo is finally back with new release “Never Forget” that is claimed to be the follow-up for his “Soulful Things” and “Magic Star” featuring wonderful vocals of Joshua. Well, the Original is really DeCarlo’ish representing the classic soulful sound that is so hard to find these days. Remixers list is quite impressive: Jay-J, Dalminjo and Ralf Gum, but as for me, their versions are not that enlightening as their names are. The release is scheduled to June 22nd on GoGo Music and is already on sale. BTW Rob is coming to Moscow again on June 27th, so if you’re here, come catch him live in “Bourjuasia” in the evening and in “The W Bar” in the night.

First spotted on Duffnote WMC 2008 Sampler, “Unbelievable” from Richard Earnshaw & Angie Brown has won good support and proved to be very successful on the dancefloor. What took it so long to be released is Remix Competition arranged together with Stereo Sushi. Finally, with the winner Jay Vegas Remix, as well as Justin Michael’s version and new edits from Earnshaw himself, “Unbelievable” will be released on June 22th and already on sale. IMHO in the package there’re no new mix to beat the Original.

Mustafa (talked about him in April 2008) seems not being able to produce a faceless track. :) Featuring passionate vocals of Flexie Muiso, “Let It Rain” coming out from his own Staff Productions on June 21st is just another ample proof. 8 (eight!) mixes are all being top-class, from deeper Ryb Remix to oldschool’ish Frisco Remix, including gorgeous Originals. I just even can’t select one! And every mix has instrumental version included. What a beauty!

Torrales, Burgos, Battle - Always

A serious team of professionals gathered together and produced a serious piece of quality: Jose Burgos, Jerrell Battle and Hippie Torrales broke out with “Always” in April on Bassclef. This is the 9 tracks brilliant EP (actually album) featuring many talented people like Stephanie Cooke and The Dynasty Temple. Jose Burgos stands behind Soul Creation project and owns Bassclef label from 1997. Hippie Torrales was the resident DJ of Club Zanzibar back in 1979 (!) and responsible for many legendary productions and remixes including Rosie Gaines’ “Closer Than Close” in 1997. As you see the team is extremely strong so do the EP.

Kenny Carvajal - Collide

Chicago based Kenny Carvajal is back with another instrumental release. Out on May 22th, “Collide” contains a couple of new tracks: full of cool synths and pads along with trademark beats “Collide” and slightly deeper “Motor City“. The release is signed to US deep house label Revival Recordings.

Siberian Kolonki Recordings continues its expansion and presents the new project Samberia (literally Samba + Siberia) of label owner Peter Shallmin together with of brazilian roots UK artist Pedro Martins. Pedro is known for his rich musical background as composer, singer, guitarist and percussionist and is recognized by Da Lata, Bah Samba, Jazzanova and others. Samberia’s debut single “Volte” is out on Kolonki on May 1st, melting brazilian music, jazz, house & funk, with support of main man Nick Van Gelder who is responsible for Jamiroquai sounds and played on drums/guitars/keys on records with JK and on many tours through the years.

Eugen Lisin - Out There

Eugen Lisin is producer, composer and arranger from Russia. He worked with N’Sync’ producer Yury Chernavsky, remixed incl. Danny Tenaglia, wrote the anthems for the XVII Women’s World Handball Championship 2005 and Miss Russian Radio contest, and got the number of productions. His lovely track “Don’t Feel So Lonely” (Drum Mode, 2007) was in Billboard Dance Club Play Chart.

Sade & Anita Baker on Restricted Access

Not that frequent guest to review here, but still one of the greatest underground house soulful machines, US label Restricted Access did it once again - dated April 27th (if we’re to believe Juno.co.uk) the new EP is out. This time Timmy Regisford & Adam Rios remixed another couple of soul classics. “No More Tears” by Anita Baker and “Couldn’t Love You More” by Sade got soulful treatment and have been bootleg’ed. Oh yeah, these releases are vinyl only. Do not expect it to be available digitally! I do personally love these kind of stuff and do own some 12″ pieces.

Restricted Access, Restricted Tracks, Un-Restricted Access and Underground Access are all the sublabels of 157 Shelter Records.
