The North Carolina Symphony Performs Classic Video Game Score at “Video Games Live” on June 7

Our apartment community is encompassed by entertainment venues, many of which are the destination for concerts in Raleigh. If you like to socialize and watch performances from time-to-time, why not clear your schedule for Video Games Live? This upcoming concert is a special event that will be held in the Meymandi Concert Hall on June 7.

Kicking off at 8:00 pm, this event has been created by the game industry and will feature music from some of the most successful games of all time. The North Carolina Symphony will be wowing the crowds as they perform the soundtrack to games like:

Explore all the great food of our state at the Got To Be NC Festival Food, Wine and Beer Expo, or judge things for yourself at the Mason Pig Jig BBQ Competition. Once you are done tasting North Carolina’s best, head over to the stage to take in Leon Jacobs, Jr. and the best amateur bluegrass event in Raleigh.

Admission to the festival is free, though, some things, like the carnival rides, will carry a a cost. Hours for the festival are 10:00 am to 10:00 pm on Friday, 9:00 am to 10:00 pm on Saturday, and 9:00 am to 8:00 pm on Sunday.

Summer officially begins in June and if you are stressing over the thought of keeping your kids entertained, you should contact the Marbles Kids Museum where summer camps are available. This museum is located on 201 East Hargett Street. The calendar boasts a wide variety of activities for ages three to 13.

Kids will love going to camp at the Museum.

If you opt for an AM session at the Marbles Kids Museum your young one will have the opportunity to watch an IMAX film. So, what does the schedule look like? Well, here’s a brief overview:

Roll Up to the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo This Summer

Grab a quick bite from a food truck.

If you are of the habit of sampling the food from the backs of trucks, then the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo is just for you. This community-organized event will involve 35 food trucks parked along one side of the road in Downtown Raleigh, selling their wares to visitors. Organizers are working to provide tables and chairs for additional seating, and the City of Raleigh Museum will be hosting various activities for the public.

This exciting event will be held on Fayetteville Street, Downtown Raleigh near the museum, and runs on the following dates;

Sunday, May 12: Free from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Sunday, June 9: Free from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Sunday, August 11: Free from 5:00 pm -9:00 pm
Sunday, October 13: Free from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Although entry is free, a $5 VIP Early Access Pass gets you in an hour earlier. And since the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo has trucks such as Philly’s Cheese Steaks, Sympathy for the Deli, and Stoke & Smoke BBQ providing the food, you will want to get in early.

When you were in school you probably enjoyed art lessons, right? Let’s face it: most of us did because these lessons entailed lots of drawing, painting and creativeness! If you want to rediscover the beauty of art and get to know artists who live near our apartments in Raleigh, think about attending the Raleigh First Friday Gallery Walk.

This event takes place in downtown Raleigh and gives everyone who attends the chance to experience art in every form. The First Friday Gallery Walk is an event for all ages, and the next upcoming dates are April 5, May 3 and June 7.

The fun will kick off at 6:00 pm, and for three hours, lovers of art, music and food will gather in downtown Raleigh. During this time museums, art galleries, art studios and art venues will be exposing their unique pieces to crowds.

Participating restaurants will be getting involved, too, so don’t forget to try delicious cuisine after browsing in an abundance of retail stores. If you have never ventured around the city before, make sure you pick up a map/guide at the First Friday Flags locations.

Complete Spring Cleaning Duties Easily in Raleigh With These Tips

Use a newspaper to get oily residue off glass.

It’s the time of year again when thoughts turn to spring cleaning. While this activity will never be fun, there are some ways to make it less of a chore. Here are some nifty spring cleaning tips.

The old tip about using newspaper to clean glass and windows is still a good one. A wadded-up newspaper actually does a better job of removing oily residue from glass than a paper towel does.

Clean out your dishwasher. Run an empty dishwasher on a regular cycle with a package of citric acid crystals, (available in the canning or spice section of stores), instead of dishwasher detergent. Then run another empty dishwasher cycle with regular detergent. It will be clean and ready to tackle dirty dishes again.

Light a natural beeswax candle to clear the air inside your apartment. The natural scent isn’t as heavy as scented sprays, and gives the space an appealing, neutral freshness.

After cleaning our air vents, spread a little car wax on then. The wax allows air to flow freely, but doesn’t trap dust that impedes the flow.
