2012-08-16T19:58:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace!

I am currently shaking in anticipation because I fly from Vancouver, BC to San Bernardino, CA tomorrow for Rock The Bells which is a 2 day music festival with everyone and anyone who is progressing rap/hip-hop. The setlist is a thing of beauty but it's suppose to be hot down there.. and by hot; I mean mucho picante! I still have to pack so this is a short post but here's a Lunice X The Good Kids collaborative video which I know you'll enjoy.

New A$AP Rocky & Kid Cudi

2012-08-14T10:49:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace. Today I have two recent bangers that were released by a couple of my favorite artists. First one is Cudi's "Just What Iam" from his upcoming album Indicudi. When the kid took a break from weed I have to say that the music he was producing was trying to be too different and progressive from his true roots and he began to lose himself but is back with this new track. Secondly is A$AP Rocky releasing visuals from his upcoming A$AP Mob album "Lord$ Never Worry" with the song Purple Kisses. Kid Cudi - Just What Iam A$AP Rocky - Purple Kisses

New A$AP for the weekend

2012-08-03T17:25:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace.

A$AP Rocky has released a new banger just in time for the weekend labeled "Pussy Money Weed". Although it won't be featured on next anticipated album it's definitely worth a listen.

Kendrick Lamar - Swimming Pools (Drank) [New Video]

2012-08-03T12:30:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace!

Kendrick Lamar has set been continually stepping up and pushing the boarders of the rap game; solidifying his name as the west coast king. With some of the most incredible flow and style, Kendrick appears to be one of the least egotistical rappers out there because he lets the fans do the talking for him which I admire and respect.

Here's the new video for Swimming Pools.

ASAP Rocky + Danny Brown + Schoolboy Q

2012-07-27T11:07:00.001-07:00

Flatbush Zombies

2012-07-16T23:48:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace!

I recently discovered a Brooklyn trio encircled with childhood friends Erick Arc Elliott, Zombie Juice (Barnacle Bartholomew) and Meechy Darko whom each possess a unique sense of style and produce addictive beats such as "Thug Waffle' or "Face-off". These zombies know how to stay true to what they know best; drinking 40's, waffles, drugs and living life to the fullest while grasping upper level lyricism and flow. Darko has a charisma which has strongly been compared to the late and great Old Dirty Bastard. As Bartholomew hasn't been compared to any big names but he still has more flow coming out his mouth than the Nile and lets his humor and personality shine through lyrics. Erick produces edgy beats which are dark with light electronic synth which comes together in head bumping harmony. The term zombie isn't about walking around aimlessly but rather than dying, it's renewal of life; They don't fear death and that comes through in their songs. These guys really don't have as much hype as they should; so if you like them show your support and share the word.
Enjoy.

Here's the song that boosted them into the spotlight "Thug Waffles"

Vinnie Picone did an amazing job filming and directing this video for "Face-off"

Danny Brown (XXX)

2012-07-11T15:00:00.001-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace!

Today I have to share one of the best rap artists in the game. Danny Brown is a Detroit Michigan based rapper who's actual name is Danny Sewell. Danny released "XXX" in 2011 and was rated #1 hip hop album of the year from Spin Magazine along with Metro Times's artist of the year all the while being featured in XXL Freshman Cypher; in other words he's had a colossal year. Popularly remixed by remixers and respected by some of the largest names. Danny Brown is the rapper's, rapper.

Here is Danny Browns "XXX" in it's entirety. Hope you enjoy!

Strange Talk

2012-07-09T12:09:00.003-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace!

Today I have a remix from the group Strange Talk; They're from Melbourne Australia and the band consists of 4 members, last year they released their self titles EP in 2011 which was a big success. Critics say they sound like Pheonix mixed with passion pit and yeasayer. Here is the remix to Trembling Hands by LCD Soundsystem.

Enjoy,

An Awesome Wave

2012-06-24T14:52:00.003-07:00

Alt-J (∆) just debuted their album "An Awesome Wave" which was just released. Whether you're shredding the hills or cruising through the city this music is perfect for a chill Sunday. The smooth acoustic on top of unique vocals comes together in perfect harmony to create a sound which is unique to the industry. Alt-J's
most successful track so far has been Breezeblocks and they recently released a suspenseful video. Be sure to check it out.

And as a bonus here's my favorite song of the new album Fitzpleasure.

Kilian Martin - Altered Route (Skateboarding)

2012-06-23T13:17:00.000-07:00

Kilian Martin in my eyes is a modern day Rodney Mullen which means he holds incredible board control and balance; the unique style he possesses is a dime a dozen. Brett Novak directed the video and he did an absolutely amazing job. The video is filmed at an abandoned water park and often has cut scenes from when it was functioning to a bare wasteland. This video always gets my day going right. I hope everyone had an interesting Friday and the best part of it all? It's Saturday which means time to get rowdy!

The music was done by Patrick Watson and the song name was "Adventure In My Own Backyard". He is an amazing singer that radiates positive emotions. He could sing and tap his feet and it would sound incredible.. A true musician; have a listen and enjoy!

2012-06-22T12:59:00.000-07:00

Dom Kennedy is a LA based rapper that shares the same birthday as I do Aug 22. Dom Kennedy recently released "The Yellow Album" for free download and stream and can be found at http://www.theyellowalbum.com/

Bringing the Funk

2012-06-20T11:25:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace!

Gonna be bringing that FUNK today! T.Rice is an Auckland true music lover and he has a unique perspective on his boogiefunk edits. His smooth beats and groove based downbeats will take you out of your seat and have you moving in seconds; my personal favorite from his collection is a jam I could bump in rain/shine/snow/sleet any day of the week any occasion. Enjoy!

New GZA + Neil Degrasse Tyson Collab

2012-06-19T12:36:00.000-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace!

Wu-Tang Clan's very own GZA the Genius has been meeting with Neil Degrasse Tyson who is an American astrophysicist and in my eyes, the smartest and most innovating man alive. The album Dark Matter will be stripped off everything apart from the planets, "There's no parental advisory, no profanity, no nudity,". Brooklyn born Gary Grice (GZA) never really thought that hip-hop listeners would be into an album to do with astrophysics but is hoping that the listener will be in touch with their curiosity. It seems that GZA has been innovating progressive rap; by progressive rap I mean that rather than listening to someone talk about who they shot, their learning about the cosmos and actually benefiting and expanding their minds; Dark Matter is set to release sometime this fall. His next big project will be focused on life aquatic, he's already started meeting with marine biologists and researchers including Philippe Cousteau.

Here's my favorite jam from GZA called "Liquid Swords"

GZA recalling block parties, the Bronx and getting into trouble in a quick skit.
Enjoy.

Happy Fathers Day!

2012-06-17T15:08:00.001-07:00

Welcome back to sungFROMspace! Today as i'm sure everyone knows is a day we praise our father figures for always being there. Here's an oldschool jam by Ed O.G & Da Bulldogs written in 1991 called "Be A Father To Your Child". Strong lyrics on top of a smooth beat is the essence of relaxation; so sit back and enjoy and Happy Fathers Day!

E-Dubble

2012-06-16T13:25:00.001-07:00

Welcome back to SF Space. Today we have a new banger from the Philadelphia born but Baltimore based rapper e-dubble. He's been working on the new EP titles Slated which will release some time in 2012; e-dubble consistently impresses me with his unique rapping style and instrumental selection. Recording songs straight from the radio onto his fisher price boombox's tape deck he began mixing groups like Tribe called Quest, Dr. Dre to Bruce Springsteen. Highly inspired by Warren G, Wu-Tang Clan and Notorious B.I.G so make sure to keep an eye out for him.http://www.e-dubble.com

SF Space is Back!

2012-06-14T15:35:00.001-07:00

First of all SF Space is back and better than ever, with all of this time off I have more bangin tracks than ever before. Welcome and Enjoy the Stay!

This first post back is going to be a quick spotlight on Joey Badass; A 17 year old residing in Brooklyn, New York representing the Pro-Era (Progressive Era). The name Joey Badass is contradictory to itself because he embodies peace but can get wild at times. He knew the words the Hypnotize when he was 2 years old. Get used to his face because you'll be seeing it everywhere; he just dropped his first mixtape 1999 for free download so be sure to check it out!

Here's one of the songs that helped Joey Bada$$ blowup.

(King Fantastic) King Fantastic has been around for a long time slipping under the radar. He's got fluid rhymes, passion and flow. Most of the time I don't bite for rap or hip-hop on top of rock, but in a rare occasion the two genres come together and make something beautiful. Enjoy
