We all know that Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching. But for fear of neglecting one of February’s other sacred holidays – Super Bowl Sunday – the staff here at Sunpointe Townhomes is hosting a little contest for all of you NFL fans.

Whether you’re a die-hard football enthusiast or just looking forward to the best snacking day of the year, one of the ties that binds all Super Bowl Sunday viewers is an appreciation of commercials that are actually worth watching. This year, we want to encourage a bit of friendly rivalry in the advertising arena.

Explore the Universe at Planetarium near Harrisburg

When was the last time you took a few minutes to gaze at the stars?

Now, at the North Museum of Natural History and Science, you don’t even have to wait until nightfall to map out the constellations. In addition to the array of other bug, dinosaur and plant related exhibits, the museum host a planetarium with a one-of-a-kind high definition system and a brightness projector that can turn an ordinary dome into a simulated voyage through outer space. Plus, through the Night Sky Tour programs, kids and adults can learn about astronomy through an incredibly accurate depiction of the night sky.

Planetarium cost for adults is $10, kids ages 3 to 17 are $5 and seniors are $9, and rates include general admission to the museum. Other exhibits currently on display include the ornithology collection, which is one of the largest in the state, and a paleontology collection that includes over 100,000 fossils.

Take a look at 5 easy ways to save money on apartment utilities:

1. Purchase a power-strip for areas where you have multiple devices plugged in. Printers, computers and other electronics that often go to “sleep” instead of turning off can add up on your power bill. If all you have to do is flip a switch when leaving for work, you’re much more likely to remember.

2. Add sweaters before turning up the heat. It may sound simple, but if you agree on a maximum temperature and remember to turn the heat down before leaving each morning, you’ll definitely notice a change on your utility bill.

3. Light strategically instead of using overhead lighting. Not only will this use less energy, but it will also make your apartment feel more inviting. Also, make sure to replace any incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs.

4. Keep light fixtures dusted and free from debris – even a thin layer of dust can make lights appear dimmer.

96th Annual Pennsylvania Farm Show

Potato donuts, honey ice cream, milk shakes, baked potatoes, and so much more draws more than a quarter-million to the Expo Center in Harrisburg each year.

They’ll be here soon enough for the 96th Annual Pennsylvania Farm Show and the food court, which opens today, a day earlier then it has in the past so locals can get some food and avoid the crowds.

Enter through the Cameron Street lobby, about 10 miles from Sunpointe west on Derry Street to I-83 North and US-322. There you’ll have a chance to taste a variety of local products and your dollars will support the Pennsylvania Agricultural Commodity Organizations.

It’s a non-profit that helps to fund various vendors like the PA Dairymen’s Association, who will be selling deep fried mozzarella cubes and the Pennsylvania Cattlemen’s Association, who will have rib-eye and philly cheese steak sandwiches.

The show exhibits open Saturday and will run till Jan. 14 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a 5 p.m. close on the final day. All the attractions, from animal exhibits to butter sculptures, are free to see. Parking at the Expo Center is $10 and for more information, contact the Farm Show at (717) 787-5373.

This little man is such a SWEETHEART!!! Brody is a little stand-offish. He is slow to warm up but does so typically within about 12 hours of being in a new environment, with a female that is the primary caregiver…..he takes a little longer with men thanks to a man that beat him severely. (he typically adjusts well within 24-72 hours, as when hes gone to be boarded) We prefer that he go to a home with a fenced yard as he dislikes leash walking …he is working on his leashing and is progressing but still LOVES “free running” a yard. A VERY rural area that is non fenced will also be considered…he LOVES to run!!!….comes back on his own after a few min of running and sniffing EVERYTHING in his path!! He REALLY wants to be loved but is scared to death. Somebody has been really mean to this little man. All vetting is current…neutering is also done.
