For those truck buyers who are worried about fuel economy, your local Missouri dealership has the answer. Coming soon to a Missouri dealership near you is a new and improved Ford F150!

In an effort to keep customers happy and satisfy their urge to be fuel-efficient, the Ford Motor Company is releasing a new type of engine in the ever-popular F150 in 2010. Brett Hinds, an advanced engine design manager for Ford, said the automaker is going to install the new EcoBoost engine in the F150 after seeing how it performs in the Lincoln MKS and Ford Flex this year and next.

The new EcoBoost engine offers the power you’d expect from a full-size truck without risking fuel economy or miles per gallon. It uses turbochargers and direct injection to accomplish this feat.

Like other automakers, the Ford Motor Company is looking for ways to be environmentally-friendly by using current technology and improving upon it. Ford will continue making the F150 with V8 engines for buyers who still want that type of truck.

Does this sound intriguing? If so, why not visit a local Ford dealer and get an F150 today? By the time the EcoBoost rolls off the production line in the F150, it’ll be a great time to trade your truck in!

As a service to the community and the environment, your local St. Louis dealership wants to stress the importance of driving habits and their connection to fuel usage and emissions. The Ford Motor Company recently performed some coaching on 48 motorists to see if their changed habits had an effect on fuel economy. The researchers found that the new habits resulted in a change of at least six percent in some vehicles and up to 50 percent in others. The average improvement was about 25 percent.

Some of the practices the coaches included in the test included smoother accelerations and braking, driving at more moderate speeds and monitoring the driver’s RPMs. The researchers conducted the tests and training over four days and the results were independently verified by the Sports Car Club of America.

According to US Energy Information Administration, the United States consumes about 150 billion gallons of fuel each year. But if each driver practiced more eco-friendly driving as your local St. Louis dealership advocates, we could save more than 20 billion gallons of fuel each year!

If you’d like to be a more eco-friendly driver, you can start by driving 55 mph instead of the normal 65 mph (or faster). You can also make sure your tires are properly inflated and ensure that you don’t idle for long periods of time. You can also visit your local Ford dealer and get a hybrid or fuel-efficient vehicle and start saving the planet today!

You may have noticed some extra excitement at your local Missouri Ford Mercury dealers this past weekend. That’s because the governor of Missouri – Matt Blunt – and the governor of Illinois – Rod R. Blagojevich – made the 2008 State Farm Arch Rivalry football game between their respective state’s college football teams even more interesting on Saturday.

Here was the plan: If the Illinois Fighting Illini Lions won the game on Saturday, the Missouri governor must declare September 6 to be “University of Illinois Fighting Illini Day.” If the Missouri Tigers won the game on Saturday, the Illinois governor must declare the same date to be “University of Missouri Fighting Tigers Day.” In addition to that, the losing governor also agreed to pose for a picture with the official proclamation.

The governors chose September 6 because that’s the day the two teams play their first respective home games this year.

“With the Missouri Tigers poised to have another outstanding season and on the cover of Sports Illustrated, I have placed a friendly wager with my fellow governor, Rod Blagojevich,” explained Missouri Governor Blunt on Friday. “I am looking forward to attending the game and for his proclamation of Missouri Tigers Day in Illinois.” And since Missouri did, in fact, defeat Illinois by ten points on Saturday, Governor Blunt is going to have his wish come true.

The rivalry between the two teams has been ongoing since 1896.

Even if you missed the game or the excitement, that’s no reason not to visit your local Ford dealer. The Ford Mercury dealers in St. Louis and throughout the state are ready to help you find the car you want at a great deal. Visit one today and help show your support for the home team!

The 2008 Ford Edge is a truly exciting sight to behold. One of the most attractive designs in its class of crossover utility vehicles, the Edge truly looks like a sport utility vehicle.

The large, bright grille on the front of the 2008 Ford Edge is probably the most prominent feature of its exterior design. In addition to the grille, however, the 2008 Ford Edge features a smoothly arched roofline, and engineers paid particular attention to the details of this vehicle.

It’s the comfortable ride, however, that is most appealing about this vehicle. The 2008 Edge has plenty of space for five passengers, with all sorts of leg room. In fact, the Edge is so roomy that you’ll forget for a moment that you’re not in a full-size or luxury SUV.

It’s not only passenger space, however, that sets the 2008 Ford Edge apart. The Edge has plenty of cargo space, as well. Even the fron passenger seat can fold flat in order to carry longer items. There is 32 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, which increases to 70 cubic feet if you fold down the rear seat backs. Finally, the 2008 Edge has a center console storage bin with plenty of space, and even a large glove box.

If you’re looking for a stylish, comfortable, roomy crossover, look no further than the 2008 Ford Edge.

If you’ve ever fallen in love with an old Ford used truck, you know exactly what this man was going through. For some time, he adored seeing a certain used Ford truck across the street from his place of work. This wasn’t just any Ford used truck, though. It was an older truck – a 1950 F-1 pickup. And it was for sale.

“It was an absolute rust bucket but still nifty looking,” said Gerry, the man who loved this truck. “I’ve always had a liking for old trucks and you could see the character.”

After admiring the truck from afar for several weeks, he finally got the gumption to approach the owner and buy the truck. After negotiating, he drove it away for $1,500. That was in 1994. He put a few dollars into repairing the truck and decided to simply store it in 1997. In 2005, after getting married, building a house and having kids, he decided to restore it.

He took the 1950 truck to American Classic, a vehicle restoration company in Massachusetts. After three years and a pretty hefty bill, Gerry received a completely restored and beautiful 1950 F-1 truck.

People are doing this to their older Ford trucks every day. We just fall in love with the character of an older truck and can’t get our minds off of it. It’s happened to me a couple times and I’ve been proud to drive an old Ford truck around town even without getting it restored. There’s just something about an old truck that shows its years and keeps on going. Don’t you agree?

If you have your heart set on getting a 2008 Ford truck, there’s no better time to get down to your local dealer. With improvements in fuel economy and other eco-friendly features in the 2009 models, the 2008 Ford truck lineup is becoming extinct.

But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, the 2009 lineup has many advantages over the 2008 Ford truck models. The F150, for example, is getting several updates to the powertrain and other aspects of the engine to make it run more efficiently and use less fuel.

Another exciting feature that you’ll find on the 2009 models and not the 2008 Ford truck models is the EcoBoost system. This Ford-exclusive technology combines turbocharging with gasoline-injection to create an engine that is 20 percent more efficient than current engines. This also includes transmissions with six speeds.

These are just a couple things that you can expect from the new lineup of Ford trucks. There are some exciting things going on with the Dearborn-based automaker. Whether you decide to purchase a 2008 Ford truck or a new 2009, you’ll undoubtedly enjoy your choice for many years to come.

Here are some of the most useful and interesting technological tools you can have on your commute:

The 2008 Ford Focus and the Sync system

The Sync system, developed by Microsoft and Ford together, brings a whole new handsfree element to your driving experience. From your cell phone to your MP3 player, the SYNC is able to create a voice-based interface for you to communicate with and manipulate your electronic equipment.

iPod 80 GB Portable Media Device

The iPod, of course, isn’t the only MP3 player you can use on your commute. Whether you have a Zune or an iPod, the SYNC system inside the Ford Focus is able to interface with your device. You can use voice commands to search for a song by artist, title, or even album.

BlackBerry 7303e mobile phone

Much more than just a phone, this device is capable of web browsing, document viewing, and all sorts of other activities. Because it’s Bluetooth capable, it can also interface with your 2008 Ford Focus and its SYNC system, so that you can make handsfree calls with your BlackBerry device. A great alternative to the BlackBerry is the Treo 700p Smartphone, which allows you similar sorts of functionality.

Bose QuietComfort 3 Noise-Canceling Headphones

These amazing headphones will allow you to be able to hear everything from your podcasts to telephone conversations, regardless of how noisy the city may be during your commute.

Olympus WS-310M Digital Voice Recorder

While the SYNC system does have a voice recorder, this device will allow you to record up to 138 hours of audio, and it’s portable. Use this digital voice recorder to make a grocery list, dictate your novel, or just remind yourself to call your mother on her birthday.

Take care, of course, when using any gadget in your car. While the 2008 Ford Focus SYNC system does make things easier and safer with its handsfree capabilities, you still need to be on the lookout for distracted driving in order to get to your destination safely.

But that’s going to change soon. In an effort to streamline the production process and make it easier to purchase Ford and truck models, the automaker is reducing the number of personalized options.

Although sales of Ford trucks reach into the hundreds of thousands, a Ford official said that it seemed like the company was “building custom units each time they went down the line.” Unfortunately, that makes the entire process more difficult and more expensive than it really needs to be.

There’s no reason to fret, though. The Ford Motor Company used a computer program to find the most popular combinations and features for previous model years. The automaker has narrowed the number of possible combinations to about 10 million. With that many different options and combinations, you’re undoubtedly going to find the right one that fits your preferences.

This new way of producing Ford and truck designs is starting with the 2009 model year. That leaves you plenty of time to get a 2008 model today!

With gas prices going up and down around the $4 mark this summer, everyone is talking about fuel economy. Some people who would never otherwise consider buying an economy car like the 2008 Ford Focus are suddenly looking into vehicles along those lines.

In addition to choosing a car that’s good on gas mileage like the 2008 Ford Focus, there are some other things that you can do to save gas. Here are a few tips to make things easier on your wallet when you’re at the gas station:

Drive defensively. If you drive aggressively by speeding, frequently accelerating, and frequently braking, you can lose as much as a full third of your gas mileage when you’re on the highway. While the percentage is smaller when you’re driving through town, you still burn more gas when you’re driving in an aggressive way.

Follow the speed limit. Generally speaking, your fuel economy is optimal at right around 60 miles per hour. While this can vary from one vehicle to another, 60 is usually the point at which fuel economy starts to worsen. For every 5 miles per hour over 60 you drive, you’re going to lose anywhere from 7 to 23 percent on your fuel economy.

Get rid of excess weight. It might be that you’ve got some equipment in your trunk that you’re not using. You should be able to save as much as 2% on your gas mileage by removing 100 pounds from the weight of what your Ford Focus is carrying.

Avoid idling. Idling, of course, gets you zero miles per gallon. While a smaller car like the 2008 Focus is going to waste less gas than a truck with a V-8 engine, idling still wastes gas.

Use cruise control. If your vehicle has cruise control, use it. It avoids all sorts of unintentional speeding up and slowing down, which waste gas in the long run. By using the cruise, you help the engine stay at a constant rate.

Two men in Vancouver have cultivated a friendship that started with their mutual appreciation for their Ford used trucks. Jim deVries and Terry Robertson went to the Shelby Auto Show earlier this month as strangers, but they emerged as friends.

When they arrived at the annual auto show this year, both were driving their Ford used trucks from 1940. But the similarities don’t end there. Both men found their Ford used trucks more than 40 years ago and they both found them through a relative. In addition to that, both truck owners also bought their Ford used trucks from the original owners on the Prairies. Does it get any more coincidental than that?

When they arrived at the auto show, they both had their trucks looking like new. They both restored their prized trucks and made them shine like the day they rolled off the assembly line. And since they bought their respective trucks when they were both still teenagers, they have a special connection that few other truck owners can appreciate.

You might not find Ford trucks as old as this at any dealer’s inventory, but you can start a connection with a truck by buying one today. Find one that’s a few years old, fix it up and maintain it. It’ll be nice to see how much trucks have changed if you compare it to modern trucks in another 40 or 50 years.
