OK, so the summer’s almost over (at least in terms of business), people are more–less back from their vacations, and it’s time to get the gears grinding again — not that we haven’t been busy, because we have been. Very.

There has been a lot of talk between Petar and I about a lot of things regarding Sprawsm (the name is one of those things), the ways we can grow the company, more importantly — in which ways we want it to grow. The most obvious change we’ve decided to make is to officially change the name of the company to “Sprawsm”. There will be no rebranding, just a name change, which you can still pronounce as “Superawesome” if you’d like.

The other thing we’ve decided needs changing is this website., and we’re already half–way there in the redesign, which we’re hoping to launch soon. The main reason behind the redesign is that we’re grown as a company, our objectives and priorities have changed, and the current site doesn’t reflect that properly. We’re aware of the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” saying, but we really believe our site should — and can — do a better job of portraying us as a company.

So, as the fall approaches, look out for the new sprawsm.com and more news and announcements we’re still not yet ready to go public with.

Task management is one of my pet peeves. I admit it. While I don’t necessarily consider myself an organization freak, I hate forgetting things. I have tried just about every app out there for managing tasks and notes and I kind of came full circle.

Uni-Form Voted Best Innovative Form by OFIA

We understand things have been very quiet here lately, we’ve been ridiculously busy and we will soon be able to show you some new stuff we’ve been working on.

That, however is not the reason we’re dusting the old blog; today Matthew Solle informed me that Uni-Form has been voted the best innovative form by OFIA! How awesome is that?! (The answer is super awesome in case you couldn’t guess.)

Online Form Innovation Awards have a purpose to showcase best practices when it comes to online forms and build a reference library for all the people who are interested in learning, understanding and sharing knowledge on that topic.

Currently they are awarding three categories in form design:

WInner — Huffduffer for their sign-up form, which is truly amazing and one of those “dammit, how didn’t I think of that before them?!” things

Loser — Google for their clunky sign-up form

Innovator — Uni-Form for an attempt to standardise form markup

I’d like to thank Matthew and the rest of the OFIA crew (Luke Wroblewski is one of the judges, woot!) Also I want to officially (and once more) apologize for the slow progress of Uni-Form. A lot of stuff has been happening (both personal and business-wise) and I promise, promise, that I will bring some of those ideas I have been jotting down to reality soon.

Also I’d like to point you to some of the Uni-Form implementations1 that I am aware of that might help you in your upcoming project:

Ruby On Rails plugin by Marcus Irven, there’s also a patch for it by xiaobozzz

Cold Fusion tag library by Matt Quackenbush

Django-Uni-Form by Daniel Greenfeld

Thank you all for your support so far, cheers.

PS

If you’re good with JavaScript and jQuery and would like to help out with Uni-Form, feel free to contact me.

1 Feel free to hit me up if you’ve been working on something with Uni-Form so I can add you to the list.
