At EICMA, AIROH presents Aviator Factory, the new model set to become the flagship of its off-road collection. Designed to accompany the brand’s factory riders in competition, the helmet will be available with ECE 22.06 homologation, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to safety, performance and racing.

Alongside this major new release, the graphics of existing models across both the road and off-road collections have also been updated.

AIROH has chosen EICMA as the stage for the presentation of Aviator Factory, a new model set to become the flagship of its off-road collection and designed to accompany the brand’s factory riders in competition. The project brings together material research, patented technologies and functional solutions, with the aim of meeting the demands of riders seeking performance and reliability off-road.

Aviator Factory is available in Full Carbon 9K and HPC Carbon versions, the latter featuring a high-performance composite material combining carbon fibre with other technical fibres. Weight starts at 1,250 g ± 50 g for the Carbon version and 1,270 g ± 50 g for the HPC Carbon version. The fit is developed around three shell sizes, with sizes ranging from XS to XL, while the retention system features a DD Ring closure. Both versions are ECE 22.06 homologated.

The new flagship from the Bergamo-based brand incorporates AIROH’s most advanced technological systems. These include the patented AMS² EVO system, which improves the absorption of rotational and linear impacts, contributing to both protection and comfort. AMLS (Airoh Magnetic Lining System) uses integrated magnets to allow the inner lining to be removed quickly, making cleaning and sanitisation easier.

HYDRA SYSTEM keeps the hydration system’s drinking tube stable and easily accessible while riding, while AEFR enables emergency responders to remove the cheek pads quickly in an emergency.

Aviator Factory is designed to accommodate the AWC4 and AWC2 Bluetooth communication systems, developed for use by up to four and two users, respectively. Both feature Bluetooth 5.1, a range of up to 500 metres in open terrain and an IP67 water-resistance rating. The claimed battery life is 15 hours for the AWC4 and 10 hours for the AWC2. The equipment includes an Action Cam mount, two interchangeable nose covers, a peak extension, a screw and felt kit, plugs for the upper and front vents, a mud sponge and a helmet bag. For the HPC Carbon version, the GoPro mount is approved for FIM competitions and compatible with GoPro HERO 9, 10, 11 and 12 cameras.

Alongside Aviator Factory, AIROH is also presenting updated graphics for existing models across its road and off-road collections at EICMA, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to the ongoing stylistic evolution of its entire range.

Picasso FLAT TRACK Stradale 450 – From The World Championship To The Road: 105 kg, around 55 hp and a carbon fibre frame with adjustable geometry and stiffness.

A year of development in the Flat Track World Championship and the Independent championship in the United States. A project shaped by racing, testing and workshop development, with the aim of exploring new possibilities for the structural use of carbon fibre. This experience has led to the Picasso Flat Track Stradale 450, unveiled at EICMA in its road-legal version.

Lightweight and stripped back, with exposed mechanical components and proportions that immediately reveal its origins. The new Picasso brings race-developed solutions to the road, starting with its carbon fibre frame, alongside the adaptations needed for everyday use. The engine is derived from the Honda CRF 450R: around 55 hp and a claimed weight of 105 kg. Two figures that capture the character of a project in which every component serves a clear purpose.

Carbon fibre with an extra dimension

At the technical heart of the Flat Track Stradale 450 is a carbon fibre frame featuring patented DAST^® technology: Dynamic Adaptive Stiffness Technology. Interchangeable brackets allow adjustments to geometry and torsional stiffness, changing the way the chassis responds.

Carbon fibre therefore becomes a means of tuning the motorcycle’s behaviour as well as reducing its weight. Replacing the connecting elements makes it possible to achieve different configurations using the same structure. Proven in competition, this approach is one of Picasso’s defining features.

The bodywork is also made from carbon fibre. Both the frame and bodywork are manufactured in Italy, shaping a compact motorcycle in which form and construction remain closely linked.

A chassis built around the project

Development of the front end encompasses the wheels, hubs and triple clamps. The Bart Factory spoked wheels feature an exclusive hub that accommodates triple clamps with a fork centre-to-centre spacing of 213 mm, a solution chosen to provide greater control at the front end.

The triple clamps are manufactured by Geco Special Parts, as are the footpegs and numerous other components: CNC-machined and anodised parts developed to suit the requirements of the project.

The fully adjustable Showa suspension features a dedicated setup and tailored suspension travel. The Bart Factory rims are fitted with road-approved Mitas Flat Track tyres, retaining a visual link to the discipline in which the motorcycle was developed.

Adapted for the road

The cooling system has also been adapted: the aluminium radiator is supported by an electric fan that helps maintain the correct coolant temperature, even when low speeds limit airflow.

Developed in collaboration with Volcano Industry, the seat incorporates a carbon fibre insert with the same fabric areal weight as the carbon fibre used for the bodywork. A largely hidden detail that reflects the attention paid even to the less visible elements of the construction.

Honda engine and Spark titanium exhaust

The Picasso Flat Track Stradale 450 uses the Honda CRF 450R engine and retains the Japanese motorcycle’s titanium fuel tank. Claimed power is around 55 hp.

Standard equipment includes a full titanium exhaust system developed in collaboration with Spark. In this configuration, maximum power exceeds 60 hp.

A carbon fibre frame and bodywork, a titanium fuel tank, billet-machined components and a chassis developed in competition: the Flat Track Stradale 450 brings these choices together in a motorcycle that remains closely connected to its racing origins. At EICMA, Picasso presents the result of this development journey: a road-legal flat track motorcycle built around low weight and the ability to tune the behaviour of its frame.

Ducati is showcasing a series of new models at EICMA that make its range even broader and more sophisticated, unveiled at an event held ahead of the traditional Tuesday opening for industry professionals.

On the same evening, a monographic exhibition dedicated to the centenary of the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer was inaugurated; it will be open to the public for the entire duration of the show.

Following the models unveiled at the Ducati World Première 2027, the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer is presenting no fewer than five brand-new models at its final event of the year. The Diavel V4 becomes sportier and more sophisticated thanks to new electronic control strategies, Öhlins semi-active suspension on the new V4 S, and its inclusion in the Ducati Factory Made programme. The DesertX Rally is the model Ducati has dedicated to enthusiasts of rally raids and competition, developed on the basis of the new V2 engine and drawing on feedback gathered and experience gained over years of development.

Three exclusive, limited-edition models are also making their debut: the Panigale V4 SP, designed to offer the ultimate track experience for track day enthusiasts; the Streetfighter V4 SP, the pinnacle of the Streetfighter range; and the Panigale V2 SP, developed as the homologation model for the bike that will compete in the World Supersport Championship from next year.

Finally, the 2027 Ducati range features new, eye-catching liveries on the XDiavel, Multistrada V2 and Scrambler Full Throttle, as well as the new Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE and Hypermotard V2 RVE. And exactly one year on from the preview of the Desmo450 EDS, the first modern Ducati enduro, the Bologna-based manufacturer is bringing a new, exciting preview to EICMA: the Desmo250 EDS, which will be available at European dealerships in the summer of 2027.

EICMA also offers the first opportunity to see the Monster Dark – unveiled digitally a few days ago – the Multistrada V4 Grand Tour and Pikes Peak, and above all the Panigale V4 MY27, the latest evolution of Ducati’s Superbike, which incorporates all the innovations and technical solutions developed in racing, in the flesh.

All the new models from the DWP 2027 range will be on display throughout EICMA 2026 at the Ducati stand, where the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer is ready to welcome all enthusiasts at Hall 5, stand O82.

Diavel V4

The new Diavel V4 MY27 further evolves the ‘Muscle Roadster’ concept, which, since 2010, has represented one of the most original interpretations of Ducati’s philosophy. Created to combine the muscular character and striking presence of a cruiser with the performance and dynamics of a sports bike, the Diavel now reinforces its identity with a more aggressive style, updated technology and an expanded range. The design is inspired by the Diavel V4 RS, from which it borrows elements such as the new air intakes and a number of aesthetic features that accentuate its sporty character. Completing this evolution are the redesigned single-seat tail section, new wheels and numerous details that make the line-up even more dynamic and contemporary.

The major new addition is the S version, which returns to the range for the first time in the V4 engine era. It stands out for its Öhlins SmartEC-3 semi-active, event-based electronic suspension, capable of adapting the bike’s behaviour in real time, as well as for a specification that includes a lithium-ion battery, heated grips and dedicated finishes for the alloy wheels.

The MY27 also marks the debut of the Ducati Factory Made (DFM) programme on the Diavel, taking customisation to a whole new level. Customers can configure their bike directly at the time of purchase, choosing from exclusive liveries, components and dedicated packages fitted directly at the factory. The V4 S model offers a particularly extensive range of options, with access to the full range of DFM colours and configurations, allowing riders to further enhance the Diavel’s unique and distinctive character.

On the technical front, the 168 CV V4 Granturismo engine returns, updated with a new electronic control system that improves the smoothness of the response at low and medium revs, and is complemented by the new Ducati Quick Shift 2.0 for even faster and more precise gear changes. The electronics have also taken a step forward thanks to the new 6.9-inch TFT display with optical bonding technology, standard turn-by-turn navigation and displays derived from the Panigale V4, as seen on the Diavel V4 RS.

DesertX Rally MY27

The DesertX Rally is the Ducati model designed for adventure touring enthusiasts, developed on the basis of feedback gathered and experience gained over years of development and competition on the most challenging terrain. For Model Year 27, it adopts the new technical platform of the DesertX family, built around the 890 cc Ducati V2 engine, the new dedicated monocoque frame and the Full Floater rear suspension. The twin-cylinder engine, the lightest ever produced by Ducati in its class, delivers 110 CV and 92 Nm, with a particularly generous torque curve at low and medium revs, whilst the specific chassis has been designed to offer even greater control, precision and safety when riding off-road.

The DesertX Rally is fitted with professional-grade KYB suspension with long travel, featuring a closed-cartridge competition fork – technology typically reserved for top-level motocross and enduro bikes. The fork utilises premium surface treatments such as Kashima Coating and DLC on the 48 mm stanchions, ensuring smooth operation, consistent performance and the ability to absorb even the most severe obstacles. At the rear is a fully adjustable professional shock absorber, designed to offer maximum support and control on the most challenging terrain, supported by an adjustable Öhlins steering damper.

The new Full Floater rear suspension with progressive linkages is a solution derived from racing experience that simultaneously improves comfort, traction and the ability to absorb bumps. Thanks to this design and the increased wheel travel, the DesertX Rally further enhances its off-road performance, making the bike more stable, precise and controllable even in the most extreme situations.

Rounding off the off-road package are the new Takasago Excel professional tubeless rims, with a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel. The 36-spoke configuration of the rear rim enhances strength and reliability, whilst the narrower channels help make the Rally more agile when riding over difficult terrain. Lighter and more impact-resistant than traditional designs, these rims represent a significant step forward for those seeking high performance and maximum reliability on the most demanding adventures.

Panigale V4 SP, Panigale V2 SP and Streetfighter V4 SP

The new Panigale V4 SP MY27 represents the ultimate expression of Ducati’s supersport bike for track enthusiasts – a numbered series that brings solutions derived from WorldSBK and MotoGP directly to the Panigale V4. Based on the new Panigale V4 MY27, it stands out for its exclusive specification, which includes carbon-fibre wheels, an STM EVO-SBK dry clutch, a racing gearbox and dedicated race-derived components. The 218 CV Desmosedici Stradale engine is fitted with the new Ducati Racing Gearbox with Neutral Lock. The chassis features Öhlins Smart EC 3.0 suspension and an adjustable rear link derived from the Panigale V4 R. The new aerodynamic package, featuring larger wings and Corner Sidepods – which respectively increase downforce and improve cornering performance – makes it even more effective, precise and fast through the corners, designed to offer every rider an experience as close as possible to that of the professionals.

Bringing the new-generation Panigale V2 into the FIM Supersport World Championship, on the other hand, is the aim of the new Panigale V2 SP. Developed on the basis of the Panigale V2 S and refined thanks to the experience gained at the Lenovo V2 Future Champs Academy, it recaptures the original meaning of the SP designation as a production motorcycle designed to validate technical solutions intended for competition. The new model combines the 120 CV Ducati V2 engine with variable valve timing with a chassis designed for maximum track performance, featuring Öhlins suspension, a longer swingarm to improve stability and precision, lighter forged wheels and a dry clutch that allows the use of Ducati Corse Performance Oil. Thanks to a state-of-the-art electronics package and a series of modifications aimed at enhancing agility, traction and control, the Panigale V2 SP stands out as the most specialised supersport in the V2 family and as the direct link between the world of racing and Ducati’s production range.

The Streetfighter V4 SP is the most exclusive and specialised version of Ducati’s high-performance naked bike, a numbered series designed for those seeking the very best in terms of technology, performance and racing features. Based on the Streetfighter V4, it features the traditional ‘Winter Test’ livery and technical specifications derived directly from racing experience. Distinctive features include carbon-fibre wheels, which reduce weight and inertia whilst improving agility and handling precision, the STM EVO-SBK dry clutch, the racing final drive and machined, adjustable footpegs. The 214 CV Desmosedici Stradale engine is paired with the latest-generation electronic Öhlins suspension and a braking system enhanced by a Brembo MCS master cylinder with remote adjustment. The result is an extreme yet refined naked bike, developed to offer maximum riding enjoyment both on the road and on the track, whilst retaining the unmistakable character of the highest-performance Streetfighter ever.

Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE and Hypermotard V2 RVE

The new Hypermotard 698 Mono RVE and Hypermotard V2 RVE expand the Hypermotard range with two models that highlight the distinctive character of Ducati’s fun bikes. The 698 Mono RVE has been revamped with an evolution of the famous Graffiti livery, which enhances its visual impact, and features Termignoni-approved silencers as standard in markets where they are available, further emphasising its sporty character.

With the new V2, Ducati brings the iconic RVE interpretation back into the twin-cylinder family, enhancing it with a dedicated livery and an even more comprehensive specification, to offer a version that combines style, technology and riding enjoyment.

Scrambler Full Throttle Heritage, Multistrada V2 Sport Livery and XDiavel Black Edition

In the area dedicated to the Scrambler, Ducati is unveiling the new Heritage livery for the Scrambler Full Throttle Model Year 27. The classic green and bronze colour scheme – also featured on the aluminium wheels – is inspired by 1970s racing motorbikes and cars, and stands out thanks to the contrast provided by the black finish on the exhaust heat shields and front side covers.

Two years on from the launch of the V4, the XDiavel returns to its traditional black livery with a new, striking design. Defined by its sheer stage presence, the new XDiavel V4 Black Edition represents the boldest, most muscular and imposing expression of the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer.

The new Multistrada V2’s Sport livery is inspired by the colour scheme of the Multistrada Pikes Peak, whose colour combinations and surface treatments draw on Ducati’s racing language. The result is a modern, dynamic and instantly recognisable graphic design, in which the combination of black with the Racing Red wheels and side-panel details creates a look that is both sporty and elegant.

“100 ANNI. 100 STORIE. A journey through the Ducati Centenary milestones”

To mark Ducati’s centenary, a unique exhibition set up at the south entrance traces the hundred moments that have helped shape the identity of the Borgo Panigale-based manufacturer, recounting a century of style, innovation, performance and passion. Through a timeline spanning a hundred years of history, visitors are taken on a journey through sporting successes, technological innovations and design icons that have made Ducati a globally recognised brand, with some of the most significant moments represented by the motorcycles and engines that played a central role in them.

The exhibition offers the opportunity to see unique motorcycles from the Ducati Museum and archives, or those produced in extremely limited series. EICMA 2026 is, in fact, the final destination of the ‘Collezione 100’ tour, which began with the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello and continued with World Ducati Week, the Goodwood Festival of Speed and exhibitions at various museums in the Bologna area.

The exhibition, set up at the south gate entrance, will offer visitors the chance to admire the incredible Superleggera V4 Centenario Tricolore, all the motorbikes from the Collezione 100, and a selection of true gems, such as the MotoGP and Superbike winners ridden by Capirossi, Stoner, Bagnaia, Fogarty and Bautista, as well as Marco Lucchinelli’s 750 F1 BOT, Mike Hailwood’s 900 SS from the epic 1978 Tourist Trophy and Bruno Spaggiari’s 750 Imola Desmo. The exhibition will remain open to the public for the entire duration of EICMA 2026.

As Yamaha Motor Europe outlined their vision for the future at the ‘Redefine the Standard’ event in Milan, the Ténéré 4 Concept broke cover – revealing an ongoing development project for a light and agile A2 Adventure model as Yamaha looks to further expand their Adventure line-up in coming years.

Yamaha’s rich legacy in the Adventure segment can be traced back to the very first edition of the Paris-Dakar rally (1979), which was won outright by the legendary XT500. Building on this success and a continued commitment to development, the first Ténéré was born, with the XT600 Ténéré unveiled in 1982, sparking a movement that would spread worldwide.

Since then, the Ténéré name has become synonymous with adventure. Built with true off-road capability at its core, it has encouraged generations of riders to explore and given them the confidence to go beyond the beaten path.

Leaning on over 40 years of class-leading history, Yamaha have continued to put the needs of their customers at the forefront of their developments with the Ténéré 4 Concept unveiled as the latest evolution of the Ténéré family. Driven by customer demand it showcases Yamaha’s commitment to further strengthening its presence in the Adventure segment. This new lightweight and agile concept motorcycle marks a new chapter for the meaningful expansion of the Ténéré family, aiming to bring a new dimension to adventure riding for experienced riders, whilst also being accessible for those who want to find their next adventure.

An Exciting New Chapter

Combining the DNA and experience of its Ténéré siblings, the Ténéré 4 Concept has been developed for riders looking for a lightweight, controllable motorcycle that allows them to tackle rugged terrain with greater confidence, while opening their world up to new trails and adventures.

Striking the balance between performance, agility and controllability is an all-new single-cylinder engine, which delivers high combustion efficiency, strong low- to mid-range torque and usable high-rpm performance.

The 2026 EICMA show in Milan, Italy has been chosen as the reveal for a sophisticated new combustion high-wheel Yamaha concept – XENTER – that has been designed to give Urban Mobility riders the best possible blend of comfort, style and functionality. The high-wheel segment is particularly significant for European urban riders as the larger diameter wheels offer excellent stability on uneven roads – and together with the scooter’s ABS and Traction Control systems, the High-Wheel design gives greater riding confidence over tram tracks, potholes and cobblestones.

Offering premium Yamaha build quality and excellent daily practicality – along with an innovative, dynamic design and premium riding comfort – the high-wheeled XENTER combustion concept is particularly suitable for urban commuters who may be looking to purchase their first powered two wheeler. With its ‘twist and go’ simplicity, this XENTER concept model is ready to bring an enjoyable and confident new riding experience to urban and suburban riders who want a new kind of high-wheel scooter that combines a special pride of ownership with responsive performance, easy handling and outstanding practicality.

New XENTER E: High-Wheel electric Urban Mobility scooter

With its sleek new body, super-clean lines and a performant electric power unit, the new XENTER E is a high-end Urban Mobility model that brings an additional edge to the High-Wheel scooter category. Developed using Yamaha’s extensive experience in the design and manufacturing of scooters that goes back over 40 years, the XENTER E has the ability to open up a new riding and ownership experience for urban professionals looking to the future.

The high 16-inch wheels give urban commuters a stable handling and confident cornering experience over uneven surfaces, enabling the XENTER E to offer one of the most comfortable rides when driving in and around the city. The upright riding position and newly developed chassis give the rider a commanding view of the street ahead, while the flat footboard provides comfortable leg space and ensures that getting on and off is much easier.

What makes this new Urban Mobility electric scooter extra special is its high torque delivery that produces strong and linear acceleration – making it one of the most efficient and enjoyable ways to get into and around the city.

The high specification, sophisticated styling and large storage space, as well as an easy charging system, 108km range (according to WMTC1 mode with a battery temperature of 25°) and ultra-low running costs give the XENTER E the ability to make the city a smaller, cleaner and more fun place – and its zero-emission design contributes towards Yamaha’s stated goal of carbon neutrality by 2050*.

Quiet, compact and efficient power unit

The compact new eAxle power unit is made up of a high RPM air cooled Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) as well as a Motor Control Unit (MCU) and primary reduction gear. For maximum efficiency and stable performance, the unit is air-cooled, and being fitted rigidly to the XENTER E’s frame this power unit centralises mass and significantly reduces the scooter’s unsprung weight which makes for light handling and easy manoeuvrability.

Electric motors are known for their instant supply of seamless performance, and the new XENTER E produces a strong maximum power of 7.5kW at 3500 rpm with maximum torque of 33.3Nm at 500 rpm, giving this new High Wheel scooter powerful acceleration. Drive is transmitted to the rear wheel via a belt, ensuring an extremely smooth, quiet and relaxing riding experience that makes daily commuting more enjoyable and stress free.

108km range lithium-ion battery

The ‘L’ shaped battery is fixed centrally in the chassis, and its special shape and carefully chosen location ensure that underseat storage potential is maximised and that the footboard area is wide, flat and low. By concentrating mass close to the rider, the battery position contributes towards the XENTER E’s excellent stability and easy manoeuvrability, making it an ideal scooter for congested and demanding city streets.

The compact high-capacity 3.5kWh lithium-ion drive battery powers the new eAxle drive unit and delivers performance levels equivalent to a 125cc scooter – and with a range of 108km from a full charge (according to WMTC1 mode with a battery temperature of 25°)  the XENTER E is easily capable of typical daily urban commutes.

The battery is manufactured to IP67 standards that ensure effective water and dust protection for reliable all season operation and is encased in a sturdy housing to protect it from speed humps, kerbs and other obstacles. The Battery Management System (BMS) closely monitors and manages battery condition including voltage, current and temperature.

Easy to use onboard charger

With its 108km range, this new electric Urban Mobility scooter is capable of handling most daily return commutes. When it’s time to top up the battery the onboard charger makes the whole process easy. The dedicated side pocket holds a charging port that can accommodate AC Type 2 public chargers for cars, and the XENTER E can also be charged from a domestic household outlet using the dedicated home charging cable.**

With an output of 800W the onboard charger can fully charge the battery from 0% to 100% in 5.5 hours, with a battery temperature of 25° Celsius and 200V. Thanks to the charger’s fan-less design the whole process is extremely quiet, enabling owners to charge their XENTER E without disturbing anyone in the vicinity.

Daily practicality with sophisticated and modern style

The new electric XENTER E offers the urban commuter high levels of daily practicality combined with a range of advanced features that make it a very attractive and efficient model. The large underseat storage is an ideal space for carrying personal items or groceries – and is designed to accommodate a full face helmet depending on size and shape.

The high-wheel chassis together with a flat footboard area and upright riding position provide a high feeling of stability and riding confidence on every journey – especially on the city’s uneven surfaces, cobbled streets or tram lines – making the XENTER E the ideal daily commuter for riders who value comfort, style and convenience combined with strong acceleration performance. Featuring a slim and stylish body with a premium finish, this new Yamaha EV scooter is ready for every commuter looking to make a positive change to their daily schedule.

New lightweight frame design

The newly developed lightweight layout of the strong underbone frame mounts the battery and power unit in a low, central position, in order to achieve an optimized mass centralisation. This has the advantage of not only ensuring light and agile handling, but it also allows for a wide and flat footboard area that enables the rider to choose the most comfortable riding position, as well as allowing for easy access.

16-inch wheels and smooth suspension

The XENTER E’s 16-inch wheels roll over uneven surfaces very effectively to give a smoother and more confident ride. While the riding enjoyment is enhanced by a suspension system that gives 100mm of wheel movement at the front and 97mm at the rear. Tyres are 100/80-16 front and 120/80-16 rear and provide agile handling with riding comfort.

In contrary to combustion scooters which integrate the drive system with the swingarm, the XENTER E’s electric drive unit is frame mounted, enabling the fitment of a motorcycle-style swingarm. As well as achieving a lower unsprung weight for improved ride quality, the new swingarm gives a cleaner and lighter feel to the scooter’s rear end.

245mm front and rear disc brakes with regenerative braking

For smooth and effective stopping the XENTER E is equipped with 245mm diameter front and rear discs, both of which benefit from ABS for confident braking on loose or slippery surfaces. The regenerative braking system adapts itself to match each riding mode and delivers natural and controllable braking that has been designed to feel similar to the engine braking associated with conventional combustion scooters.

Natural and spacious riding position

The combination of 16-inch wheels, both front and rear, with a 1485mm wheelbase frame and the centrally located battery and power unit has enabled Yamaha’s designers to create a spacious riding position with a large and wide footboard area that can accommodate riders of varying sizes and physiques.

The handlebar height and width, as well as the distance to the 790mm high seat have been carefully chosen to give a natural seating position that also ensures a good view of the street ahead – and the large side-to-side steering angle provides easy manoeuvrability and cornering in congested streets.

Large underseat storage

The use of the ‘L’ shape battery has freed up space beneath the seat, and XENTER E riders can store a full-face helmet – subject to size and shape. It’s also the ideal place to carry provisions or personal items. Furthermore, there’s a small storage space up front holding a convenient USB Type-C charger, and a foldable hook for carrying bags is located at the rider’s knees.

Stylish TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation with Yamaha Motor On app

The XENTER E”s 5-inch TFT digital display uses a clear, symmetrical layout to show key rider information in an easy-to-read format – and the rider can select from day or night modes. The speedometer sits in the centre, with smartphone connection icons on the left. The right side shows battery output, remaining charge and regenerative charging status to keep the rider informed – and for a more engaging ride there’s a power visualizer with a moving needle that reflects acceleration and deceleration.

By connecting to the Yamaha Motor On app, XENTER E owners can easily access a whole range of useful features including turn-by-turn navigation, battery status, service schedule information and parking location – as well as a multitude of riding data, trip information and more.

Three riding modes, TCS and APSG

The XENTER E rider can choose from three modes to suit their style, road conditions and traffic. Mode S gives the quickest acceleration for a sportier feel, Mode T offers strong performance with smoother throttle response, and Mode E reduces acceleration and top speed slightly to help maximise range.

Other electronic aids include a Traction Control System for added confidence when riding on wet or loose surfaces, and the Accelerator Position Sensor Grip (APSG) progressively increases twistgrip resistance, giving the rider stronger feedback and control.

Reverse function for easier parking

Another advantage of the electric power unit is that it offers a reverse function. By simultaneously pressing the REVERSE button on the left handlebar with the MODE button on the right handlebar, the XENTER E will go backwards at a speed lower than walking pace – with no throttle input required. This enables the rider to manoeuvre in tight spaces with both feet down.

Designed for easy accessory integration

With the needs of the urban commuter customer in mind, the XENTER E is designed to facilitate the quick and easy fitment of Yamaha Genuine Accessories such as a high screen, top case, apron and smartphone holder.

Refined and understated colours

With its high specification, dynamic styling and next-generation EV technology, the XENTER E is positioned at the forefront of the electric High Wheel Urban Mobility segment. To underline its premium status Yamaha will launch this modern new electric scooter in Platinum Silver with aqua accents for a clean and sophisticated design.

Compact new eAxle power unit

The new eAxle power unit gives excellent reliability together with strong linear acceleration and an enjoyable riding character. This lightweight and compact design consists of a high RPM air cooled Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (IPMSM) as well as a Motor Control Unit (MCU) and primary reduction gear.

This compact new eAxle power unit is rigidly mounted to the new frame to ensure excellent mass centralisation, contributing towards the NMAX E’s sporty and agile handling. Ride quality is enhanced further by the use of a quiet and efficient belt drive, which together with the eAxle power unit’s virtually silent, low-vibration design makes the NMAX E such a joy to ride on every occasion.

3.5kWh lithium-ion battery

NMAX E is designed for those riders looking for a premium zero emission sporty commuter that can take them swiftly, quietly and efficiently into the city. A newly developed 3.5kWh lithium-ion battery provides the power to the new eAxle drive unit and gives a range of 104km from a full charge (WMTC1 mode with a battery temperature of 25 degrees Celsius).

Fixed securely to the frame and positioned beneath the front of the seat and below the footboards, this battery benefits from a special ‘L’ shaped design that concentrates mass close to the rider and ensures a low centre of gravity. Together with the frame mounted eAxle power unit, this mass centralisation contributes significantly towards the NMAX E’s agile and sporty handling character.

A protective metal plate beneath the battery helps to protect it from bumps and impacts when riding, and the Battery Management System (BMS) closely monitors and manages battery condition including voltage, current and temperature. Manufactured to IP67 equivalent standards, this 3.5 kWh battery is dust and water resistant, making it ideal for daily use in a variety of conditions.

Convenient onboard charger

For easy charging the NMAX E is equipped with an onboard charger with the port located inside the front pocket alongside a USB Type-C port. For added convenience the port is designed to accommodate AC Type 2 public chargers for cars, and the NMAX E can also be plugged in to domestic household outlets using a dedicated cable.**

The onboard charger has an output of 800W and for typical daily use the battery can be charged from 0% to 100% in 5.5 hours with a battery temperature of 25 degrees C and 200V. A special feature of the NMAX E’s onboard charger is its fan-less cooling design that ensures very quiet operation, making it possible to charge the battery virtually anywhere and at any time.

Next generation MAX design and styling

The MAX Family style has continuously evolved for 25 years, and the new NMAX E incorporates a range of new design features that reinforce its MAX pedigree. Minimalist dual eyes at the front and rear together with compact turn signals complement the flowing curves of the new body, bringing performance character and radiating the distinctive MAX DNA.

With its new motorcycle style swingarm design – made possible by the absence of a conventional combustion-type transmission assembly – the NMAX E’s rear end flows seamlessly into the iconic boomerang side motifs to give a premium feel to this next-generation scooter.

Newly developed lightweight backbone frame

To ensure sporty and agile handling together with a smooth, high quality riding experience, Yamaha designers have developed an all-new frame for the NMAX E. Featuring a 1425mm wheelbase, the new backbone design is both light and strong, and the battery and drive motor are centrally located in the frame’s cradle to achieve close to a 50-50 front-rear weight distribution that enables sharp, stable and rider-confident handling. With minimum ground clearance of 135mm, the NMAX E can smoothly negotiate speed humps, and has plenty of clearance when leaning through a bend in the road.

Spacious and comfortable riding position

With its 1425mm wheelbase, 770mm seat height and long footboard area, the NMAX E is designed to accommodate riders of varying sizes and physiques. The long dual seat and spacious interior allow the rider to adapt to the most comfortable riding position, fitting to their size and riding style. The slim bodywork between the seat and footboards makes it easy to get feet on the ground when stopping, and fold away pillion footrests and an integral grab bar make the NMAX E ideal for bringing a passenger.

Newly developed suspension

The suspension system is all new and has been developed to offer the NMAX E rider stable and agile handling, and a comfortable ride. At the front end the telescopic forks are equipped with 33mm diameter tubes that absorb uneven surfaces to give smooth roadholding.

With its powertrain unit positioned in the central area of the frame, the NMAX E is able to adopt a conventional motorcycle-style swingarm design which is around one-third lighter than typical scooter rear suspension systems. The lower unsprung weight gives responsive suspension action, and by positioning the twin shock absorbers directly beneath the rider’s hips, the NMAX E consistently delivers a high level of ride quality as well as good rear wheel traction.

245mm disc brakes with regenerative braking system

Both the front and rear brakes feature a 245mm disc with a single piston caliper that provide strong braking performance in the city and on the highway – and the ABS helps to prevent wheel lock up during heavy or sudden braking as well as when braking on loose or slippery surfaces.

The regenerative braking system adapts itself to match each riding mode and delivers natural and controllable braking that has been designed to feel similar to the engine braking associated with conventional combustion scooters.

New style 13-inch wheels

Model-specific 13-inch wheels ensure a low unsprung weight, and the 110/70-13 front tyre and 130/70-13 rear tyre provide confident roadholding when braking, cornering and accelerating.

Plenty of storage capacity

With a stylish stitched cover and embossed logo at the rear, the spacious and comfortable dual seat projects a feeling of quality, and beneath it there is a large storage compartment that can accommodate a full-face helmet – depending on size and shape. Reflecting the attention to detail to create a high-quality design, the underseat storage – ideal for carrying groceries and other personal items – is equipped with convenient LED lighting, making the stylish NMAX E both a practical and premium scooter for the busy commuter.

TFT display with smartphone connectivity

Offering daytime and nighttime modes, the 5-inch TFT display features a clear, symmetrical layout that gives the rider key information in an easy to understand digital format. The speedometer is in the centre, while the left side has a variety of icons showing the status of the connected smartphone. The right side features a power visualizer that displays battery power output, remaining charge and the regenerative charging status, as well as a needle that moves up and down to represent acceleration or deceleration – and by doing so it conveys the exhilaration of the ride and reinforces the overall riding enjoyment.

New Yamaha Motor On app with turn-by-turn navigation

NMAX E riders can access a wide range of functions including turn-by-turn navigation by installing the new Yamaha Motor On app. Its intuitive design makes it easy to use, and the app’s comprehensive functionality includes four main headings – Home, Ride, Memories and Account.

Riders can view everything from battery settings and maintenance schedules through to parking location, riding log and much more. The Yamaha Motor On app’s turn-by-turn navigation enhances every ride and ensures efficient commuting into the city and enjoyable leisure riding at the weekend, while the wide range of other features enhance the NMAX E ownership experience.

Three riding modes, TCS and APSG

The NMAX E rider can select from three riding modes to suit their riding style and different road or traffic conditions. Mode S delivers the fastest acceleration for a sportier feel, while Mode T gives similar performance but with a smoother throttle response – and with its slightly reduced acceleration and top speed, Mode E is designed for commuters looking to achieve maximum range.

NMAX E also features a Traction Control System that efficiently transfers drive force to the road surface. When sensors detect rear wheel slip the Traction Control System governs motor output, giving added rider confidence during acceleration and when riding on wet or dirty roads. There is also an Accelerator Position Sensor Grip (APSG) that progressively increases resistance through the twistgrip to give the rider high levels of feedback and controllability.

Reverse function

The NMAX E is equipped with a reverse function that makes for easier low speed manoeuvrability when parking in tight spaces or on gentle slopes. The reverse function is activated by pressing the REVERSE button and the left handlebar simultaneously with the MODE button on the right handlebar. Once activated the scooter reverses at a speed lower than walking pace while the rider keeps both feet on the ground. No throttle input is required.

Smart Key ignition

Smart Key ignition makes everyday life simpler. As long as the rider is carrying the Smart Key in their pocket or close by, they can start the scooter and access the storage area.

Premium colours

The new NMAX E is available in two new premium colour schemes that have been designed to convey a clean and elegant air of quality whilst also underlining the pure MAX DNA.

Avio Blue is the modern and stylish new colour introduced to the MAX Family, designed to radiate a feeling of casual elegance. The main body colour is contrasted by the glossy silver boomerang to highlight the flowing styling and underline this new generation Sport Scooter’s dynamic and premium appeal.

The Platinum Silver colour option features silver bodywork for the fairing, legshields and rear body. Contrasting the main bodywork is a glossy black front section around the new minimalist headlights, and the boomerang side motifs are finished in glossy silver to project a feeling of effortless lightness.

Torque-Rich CP2 Engine With YCC-T

At the heart of the RW700 and RW700 Explore, lies the torque-rich CP2 engine, which has been the middleweight benchmark across a range of Yamaha models. This proven engine enhances the sense of unity between rider and machine, ensuring maximum enjoyment, rideability and comfort while staying true to Yamaha DNA.

The unrivalled character of the CP2 engine maintains excellent controllability, enabling the rider to easily modulate performance at low to mid RPM. It allows for real-world on-road and off-road use, while staying true to its fun nature, making the rider want to open the throttle and enjoy every twist and bend in the road, while enjoying the energetic sounds of the CP2 engine along the way.

The Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) results in smooth torque characteristics throughout the entire rev range and is tuned to deliver excellent response at minimal throttle, giving the rider a comfortable overall power delivery when riding through busy streets and when exploring country roads.

Power At Your Fingertips With An Optimised Y-AMT System

Specifically optimised for the RW series, the RW700 utilises an enhanced Yamaha Automated Manual Transmission (Y-AMT) system, allowing riders to shift gear without the need for a clutch lever or gearshift pedal. This technology also makes the RW700 the first Yamaha scooter with gear-changing abilities, as well as the first time that Y-AMT has been developed for off-road use.

The Y-AMT system was introduced in 2024, granting riders the ability to choose between shifting gears manually using a see-saw switch integrated on the handlebars (MT), or using a fully automatic gear change (AT). The feature has been used across a range of motorcycle models, allowing precise gear shifts in 0.1s, giving the rider greater feeling and allowing them to shift their focus and enjoy their ride without distractions.

For the RW700, the Y-AMT system now has a smoother shift thanks to a rubberised clutch damper and revised spring load settings for the shift rod, with specific settings allowing for both on and off-road use for greater rider control and usability. The see-saw switch shape and layout have been optimised to suit the handlebar and brake lever of the RW700, allowing for more reliable shifting and finer and more intuitive brake control.

Data In Real Time With Yamaha’s Six-axis Imu Accompanied By A Suite Of Electronic Rider Aids

Yamaha’s six-axis IMU unit has been developed over the last decade and appears on many of their flagship models. Adapting the latest technology to the RW700, the six-axis IMU is able to send data in real time to the ECU which controls the suite of electronic rider aids, such as Traction Control System (TCS), Slide Control System (SCS) and Brake Control System (BCS) giving the rider the ultimate package to take them anywhere they wish to explore.

Further Controlability From Yamaha Ride Control (YRC)

Showcasing further controllability of the RW700, Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) allows the rider to select engine power characteristics and the degree of support of electronic rider aids, based on personal rider preferences.

YRC offers a host of rider modes, working in perfect harmony with Y-AMT, which are divided into two groups: ROAD and GRAVEL.

In ROAD, there are three presets consisting of SPORT, which provides high engine response for twisty roads, STREET, which covers a wide range of surfaces and is well suited to city riding, and ECO, which tones down the power output and prioritises fuel efficiency and ease of use.

In GRAVEL, there are two presets which are designed for off-road riding including EXPLORE, which adjusts shifting and vehicle behaviour for off-road surfaces for enhanced rideability, and EXPLORE+, which adds more engine response than the EXPLORE mode. Additionally, EXPLORE+ can be fully customised depending on rider preferences.

The RW700 and RW700 Explore are enhanced with a host of electronic rider aids. Power Delivery Mode (PWR) changes the throttle response from sporty to mild, the Traction Control System (TCS) efficiently manages drive force from the rear tyre with low to high intervention, and the Slide Control System (SCS) detects slides at the rear and adjust the engine output with low to high intervention. The Brake Control System (BCS) detects slides when the machine is leaned over and controls brake pressure accordingly, while the Back-slip Regulator (BSR) controls engine torque when the rear wheel locks up.

Both BCS and BSR can be switched on and off in all modes to give extra riding freedom. Rear ABS can be switched off when in GRAVEL mode only.

The flexibility in the YRC riding modes enhances both commuting and distance-based riding, while also allowing riders the freedom to explore off-road without ever losing performance or controllability, once again placing the RW700 at the forefront of real-world riding capabilities.

Off-Road Riding Control Delivered By GSH (Gravel Shift)

During AT operation (fully automatic gear change enabled by Y-AMT), shift timing is controlled based on vehicle speed, engine speed, throttle opening and gear position. There are separate shift programs for ROAD and GRAVEL. Using the GRAVEL mode, upshifts are suppressed after throttle application as well as while the rear wheel is sliding. This allows for fine throttle modulation and a controlled degree of rear-wheel slip, allowing riders to generate and maintain traction on loose surfaces.

To enhance controllability and rider freedom in off-road conditions, the RW700’s rear ABS can also be disabled while in GRAVEL mode. A dedicated control strategy has been adopted to reduce the risk of engine stalling, so when rear-wheel lock-up or hard braking is detected, clutch capacity is reduced, helping to prevent the engine from stalling. This control also aids the rider in real-world off-road riding situations such as when a wheel spins on a log, by maintaining smoother and more predictable behaviour.

Enhanced Comfort Without Compromise With Cruise Control And Speed Limiter

For enhanced comfort, the RW700 also offers cruise control as standard, along with the Yamaha Variable Speed Limiter (YVSL). Both of these features provide a premium feeling without compromise, ensuring longer rides are smooth and enjoyable, giving the rider time to focus on the journey itself.

Connectivity Ready Five-inch TFT Display

The RW700 gets a five-inch full colour display, which can be easily connected to the rider’s smartphone through the free MyRide app, allowing users to take calls on the go and manage music while riding. Also available is on-screen navigation with the free Garmin StreetCross app, which offers either a full map, or turn-by-turn-navigation with real-time traffic information. In addition to this, the cockpit comes equipped with a USB-C type port, ensuring devices stay charged and ready to use. These features allow true freedom, ensuring riders get only as lost as they want to.

The modern display is designed to be in harmony with the bikes design, with a nod to the nature that inspired it. The display themes prioritise functionality while also drawing on the emotions of the rider who can choose between three display themes. The exclusive RW theme expresses the model’s unique positioning, with distant mountains in the background while the layout shows the bikes current status in a clear way, allowing riders to process the information intuitively. One other theme strips back to a more regular display, showing throttle movement for a pleasing look, while another shows a simplified layout, for riders who want only the most relevant information on show.

Advanced Smart Key & One-push Start System

The RW700 features smart key technology which allows the rider to switch the power on/off, start/stop the engine, release the handlebar lock, open/close the seat lock and open/close the fuel cap release while the key is on their person.

A push start system also allows a single push of the start button to activate the starter motor and start the engine once the brake lever is pulled in and the power is on. The starter motor then automatically disengages, eliminating the need for the rider to continue holding the switch.

Self-Cancelling Led Turn Signals

Further increasing rider comfort, are the self-cancelling LED turn signals, which in addition to left/right functionality and hazard lights, three additional features are standard on the RW700. A light press provides a three-flash lane-change signal, while a full press activates continuous flashing. Emergency Stop Signalling (ESS) activates both turn signals when the system detects sudden braking, and an Auto-Cancelling function turns off the signals after 15 seconds if the bike has travelled more than 150 meters.

Durable Build For Maximum Performance

A High-tensile Steel Frame For True Performance

Engineered for the real world, the RW700 and RW700 Explore deliver true performance with a backbone-type high-tensile steel tube frame, effectively supressing chassis movement even on continuously uneven surfaces ensuring rough-road capability and stability.

Allowing the rider the freedom of seated and standing riding positions, the hybrid construction of steel and boxed plastic resin stands out by offering enough space to move and places to grip to ride how you like, when you like.

Long Travel Suspension With Superior Shock Absorption

The RW700 delivers effective impact absorption over rough surfaces to provide confidence, control and versatility, with its suspension providing 160mm of front wheel travel on its 41mm inverted front fork, paired with a bottom-link type monoshock with 155mm travel at the rear with adjustable 7 step preload / 2.5 step rebound damping.

Excellent road-holding performance is guaranteed, while a high level of stability enhances ride comfort and reduces fatigue on longer journeys so that the RW700 can easily go the distance. The RW700 Explore gives extra rider control with 15mm of front fork preload adjustability and 11-step rebound damping adjustability.

Seat Designed For Real World Riding With Ample Underseat Storage

Blending sportiness with comfort, the RW700 features a rider’s seat with a firm yet flexible design, which allows easy movement forward, rearward and side to side – reaffirming its real-world capability for riding both on and off-road and making a statement that riders should no longer be boxed in by having to choose one style or the other. In addition, the front section has a narrowed profile which not only makes it easier to mount and dismount during everyday use but also allows for the rider to easily extend a foot when riding on off-road terrain.

The RW700 boasts a ground clearance of 170mm, while the seat height of 810mm paired with the carefully-designed seat profile allows riders to easily reach the ground with their feet – giving the rider full control and confidence on any terrain they choose to explore.

In contrast, the passenger seat is given a wide seating surface for enhanced comfortability, along with an LED-lit compartment underneath capable of storing a full-face helmet*.

The RW700 Explore also features a heated rider’s seat with ten heat settings to choose from, allowing year-round comfort no matter the temperature.

Four-way Adjustable Footpegs & Foldable Forward Footrests

Allowing for the perfect fit, the footpegs can be adjusted to four different positions by moving them forwards, backwards, higher, or lower. This gives greater optimisation of the riding position for each individual rider to suit their own preference. The rubber mounted on the footpegs reduces vibrations during normal road riding and can also be removed for improved grip and feeling when heading off-road.

In addition to the footpegs, the RW700 is also equipped with foldable footrests positioned further forwards, granting the rider the comfort of a more relaxed, feet-forward riding position and added wind protection to make sure that both commutes and long journeys feel effortless.

The combination of the footpegs and footrests gives riders a unique ability to change riding position quickly and confidently depending on terrain. This flexibility of foot position, paired with a flexible seated position invites riders to change from seated to standing positions easily when riding over uneven terrain, while never compromising on handling or agility.

Durable Off-Road Style Wheels & Tubeless Tyres

Featuring lightweight aluminium rims combined with Yamaha’s first stainless-steel cross spokes, the RW700 wheels deliver serious rough-road capability whilst combining confidence-inspiring stability with agile handling. The 17-inch front and 15-inch rear wheels, combined with the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tubeless tyres give incredible grip for agile handling and enhanced stability, allowing the rider confidence through corners and on changing road conditions.

Superior Brakes For Added Control

Providing optimised braking control and stability are a pair of four-piston radial-mount calipers with 298mm floating double discs. At the rear is a single 267mm disc with a single-piston caliper. ABS is equipped as standard on both front and rear, with the option to disable the rear ABS for added off-road control in GRAVEL mode.

Lightweight With Optimum Manoeuvrability

A hybrid body, developed to bridge the worlds between commuter and adventure style riding has been utilised on the RW700, to give riders the ultimate feeling of being in control, whether seated for longer journeys, or standing on the footpegs while heading off-road. The RW700 is easily manoeuvrable thanks to its low centre of gravity, and this in partnership with total wet weight of only 221 kg, being evenly distributed throughout the machine gives riders extra confidence while exploring new roads and forest trails.

The shaped front knee-grip area supports manoeuvrability, while also allowing riders to extend their legs during off-road riding. This wide range of riding positions gives a true feeling of freedom, ensuring the rider never feels restricted.

Extra Protection From Damage & Wind

An aluminium skid plate mounted under the chassis provides extra protection for the engine, frame, exhaust and other components. This gives the RW700 robust capability when riding off road, opening up a whole new realm of possibilities and giving you the added protection to tackle it with confidence.

The tapered aluminium handlebars offer superb rigidity as well as an attractive look, while plastic knuckle visors on both sides complete the package. Along with a fixed windscreen, they provide added wind protection to allow the rider to ride as long as they like in both comfort and style.

Designed To Blend In With Nature

Each element of the RW700 was designed with nature in mind, taking cues from great forests, wild campsites and rough terrain in every design aspect. Inspired by the great-outdoors, the signature Sage Blue and Forest Green colours take their inspiration from balancing the distinctive spirit of outdoor gear with a refined and sophisticated character, while the rounded shapes throughout the bodywork suggest harmony with nature itself.

Texnature: Harmony With Nature

Unlike anything before it, the design of the RW series is steeped in the rugged nature surrounding Yamaha. The TEXNATURE concept seeks to create harmony between the exterior bodywork and the natural environment, taking inspiration from two well-known spots in Yamaha’s hometown – the Tenryu River and the Nakatajima Sand Dunes. Samples were taken from the locations and were pivotal in creating the unique textures and tactile sensations found on the RW machines.

Durabio At The Heart Of Sustainability

In an effort to reduce the RW’s impact on the environment, Yamaha has used a wide range of sustainable materials, including recycled and biobased components in the production of these latest models.

Using materials like DURABIO, a bio-engineered plastic primarily derived from plant sources, across a range of components, Yamaha show their commitment to sustainability in design, reducing the environmental impact of the RW series.

Adventure-inspired Compact LED Headlight

The headlight of the RW700 is inspired by Yamaha’s Adventure models and composed of four LED units which contribute to the distinctive shape and look of the front face. The bright LED lights provide added safety and illuminate the darkest forest roads meaning the adventure doesn’t have to stop when the sun goes down.

The RW700 Explore is derived from the flagship RW700 and takes ownership of all the standard technical features. As well as these, it also boasts enhanced comfort for longer journeys and exploration. All-New 330cc Engine With Yamaha Dynamic Ride

An all-new 330cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, SOHC, single-cylinder, four-valve, fuel-injected engine has been specifically designed to give riders power when they want it in urban environments, while enhancing the ease of use when they choose to explore further afield.

The newly developed engine is part of a unique layout unlike anything Yamaha have used before: Yamaha Dynamic Ride. Unlike unit-swing setups where the engine and CVT housing are integrated and move vertically as a single unit, or rigid mounting arrangements where the swingarm extends rearward from the engine with the CVT unit fixed to the frame, Yamaha Dynamic Ride offers a setup where the engine is fixed to the frame, while only the CVT unit moves vertically around the crankshaft pivot. This new, innovative layout brings several benefits to the RW350, including substantially less unsprung weight, improved rigidity and greater freedom for rear suspension layout. As part of the Yamaha Dynamic Ride, the four-axis balancer works in harmony with the new engine and CVT unit to create a smoother, more premium riding experience. This unique layout provides riders with a settled chassis behaviour on rough terrain, resulting in excellent handling and stability.

The new engine also features the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle (YCC-T) which is another first for Yamaha in this class. This system detects the rider’s throttle inputs, and the ECU instantly calculates the ideal degree of throttle valve opening to match.

These innovations combine to firmly mark the RW350 as a standout in its class, leading the way as a mid-weight scooter.

Enhanced Control With Yamaha Ride Control (YRC) Modes And Cruise Control

Whether taking on the city, or taking the road less travelled, the YRC modes allow the rider to select engine power characteristics to suit their personal preferences.

Three presets are offered to suit a wide range of riding situations, consisting of STREET, well suited to city riding, covering a wide range of surfaces, EXPLORE, which shares the same characteristics as STREET, but allows for a certain degree of rear-wheel slide, prioritising riding freedom when heading off-road, and ECO, toning down power, allowing for optimised controllability when riding in the rain or on sub-optimal road surfaces. Each of these modes engages separate Power (PWR) and Traction Control (TCS) settings, giving the rider greater control over the scooter’s performance in changing terrain and conditions.

The RW350 also comes with cruise control which gives added comfort and ease of riding on longer journeys or when tackling motorway rides.

Added Technology With Smart Key & One-push Start System

The RW350 features smart key technology which allows the rider to switch the power on/off, start/stop the engine, release the handlebar lock, open/close the seat lock and open/close the fuel cap release while the key is on their person.

A push start system also allows a single push of the start button to activate the starter motor and start the engine once the brake lever is pulled in and the power is on. The starter motor then automatically disengages, eliminating the need for the rider to continue holding the switch.

Stability And Agility At The Forefront Of Chassis Design

Providing agile handling as well as excellent stability, the RW350’s diamond-shaped backbone-type high-tensile steel tube frame showcases an efficient use of space enabling a highly versatile riding position that is comfortable whether the rider is seated on their daily commute or standing when exploring further afield ensuring you no longer have to choose between comfort and function.

Long-stroke Front Suspension With Seven Adjustable Settings On Rear Twin Shocks

Featuring a 37mm inverted fork at the front with 140mm of travel, and twin shocks at the rear allowing 105mm, shock absorption on rough surfaces or uneven terrain is enhanced. More than capable of taking on various road surfaces, comfort is the priority whether you’re on smooth tarmac or find yourself exploring through cobblestone streets. The suspension is also adjustable across seven settings, so it can be tuned to suit road conditions, or the weight of a passenger or luggage on the bike ensuring that there is no compromise on its agile handling, even when fully loaded.

Rally Style Inspired Wheels With Vibration Damping & Rugged Tyres

The wheel design of the RW350 is inspired by rally car wheels with a large dish shape around the hub to express the strength and toughness of the lower chassis. Another first for Yamaha is the cast aluminium rear wheel housing a damper inside the hub, reducing vibration during both acceleration and deceleration for a smoother ride. The front wheel is 16-inch, with the rear being 14-inch, sporting the Dunlop D615 tubeless block-pattern tyres developed specifically for the RW350 to give excellent grip across a wide range of surface conditions while delivering clear feedback and agile handling.

Tapered Rider Seat For Ease Of Movement On Varied Terrain With Convenient Under Seat Storage

Freedom of movement is at the heart of the seat design, which combines the sporty aspect of being able to move forward and backwards, while still being comfortable for everyday riding. The rider’s seat is tapered to allow riders to easily mount and dismount the scooter, and this in turn also allows a good reach for riders to easily be able to place their feet on the ground when stopping. In addition, the underseat storage compartment accommodates a full-face helmet* and luggage for practical everyday use.

Wide Footpegs For Easy Weight Transfer And Foldable Footrests For Added Comfort On Daily Rides

Allowing for extra comfort, the RW350 features wide footpegs with rubber inserts and heel guards for excellent hold on the chassis and further vibration dampening. When standing up, the rubber compresses under load allowing the rider to properly weight the footpegs, giving that motorcycle feeling of handling and control. The footpeg rubbers can be removed when increased grip is required, such as on off-road terrain.

In addition to the footpegs, the RW350 is also equipped with foldable footrests. These are positioned further forward, giving the rider added wind protection, as well as increased comfort for long-distance riding or high-speed cruising enabling you to go further in comfort than ever before.

Agile Handling Combined With Lightweight Design

Striking a balance between rugged adventure-style appeal and nimble, commuter-like handling, the RW350 deploys its lightweight chassis design with its Yamaha Dynamic Ride layout to create a narrow body which provides precise handling and agility letting the rider effortlessly manoeuvre through paved or unpaved surfaces.

Elements like its long-travel suspension, generous ground clearance and a well-balanced wheel-base make for stable riding, while the seat profile paired with the combination of footpegs and footrests give the rider the freedom to change between both seated and standing riding positions easily and comfortably for an agile ride no matter what the terrain. The RW350 feels like a natural extension of the riders body, with a snug but secure fit for the lower body, delivering excellent grip and stability.

Extra Protection For Added Confidence

The tapered steel handlebars offer superb rigidity, vibration damping and impact resistance while prioritising ease of riding along narrow roads or forest trails. Additionally, the skid plate mounted under the chassis provides extra protection for crucial components allowing the rider more confidence when facing tougher terrain. The RW350 maintains a healthy ground clearance of 185mm.

Five-inch TFT Full Colour Instrument Panel With Connectivity & Three Display Themes

The RW350 allows riders further freedom of movement with features designed to help the rider navigate city streets and roads further afield. The five-inch full-colour TFT instrument panel allows riders to connect their smartphone through the free MyRide app, enabling them to answer calls on the go, manage music while riding as well as make changes to the bikes YRC modes. Riders can also install the free Garmin StreetCross app and pair it to the dashboard of the RW350, giving full map or turn-by-turn navigation with real-time traffic information.

The dashboard also displays current speed, RPM with a digital bar-type tachometer, remaining fuel, average fuel consumption, engine temperature, ambient temperature and more. Switching between functions is done via handlebar switches.

Inspiring a sense of unity with the RW350, the display themes prioritise function and emotion, with high readability still an important feature. There are three display themes available, with an exclusive RW theme showcasing mountains in the background designed to inspire riders to go further. One other theme showcases a simplified display with throttle activation viewable, while another shows a simplified layout, for riders who want only the most relevant information on display.

A USB-C port is also located in the cockpit of the RW350, allowing riders to easily charge their phones on the go.

Adventure-inspired Compact LED Lighting

The headlights, which are inspired by Yamaha’s Adventure line-up, are composed of four LED units which contribute to the front face’s distinctive shape and look. LEDs are also used for the turn signals and the taillight, making the RW350 highly visible when riding in lower light conditions.

In addition to left/right functionality and hazard light function of the turn-signals,  three additional features are standard on the RW350. A light press provides a three-flash lane-change signal, while a full press activates continuous flashing. Emergency Stop Signalling (ESS) activates both turn signals when the system detects sudden braking, and an Auto-Cancelling function turns off the signals after 15 seconds if the bike has travelled more than 150 meters.

Texnature & Dedicated Colours: Blending In With Nature

Inspired by nature, and specifically by the nature surrounding Yamaha, TEXNATURE was a concept introduced specifically for the RW Series. Creating harmony between the exterior bodywork and the natural environment, inspiration was taken from the soil and rivers to develop the texture and colours of the RW350.

The new RW350 will be available in three colours, Sage Blue, Arashi Sand and Midnight Black.

At the pinnacle of the range sits the Vortex 3 full leather suit, finished in Honda’s instantly recognisable red, white and blue colours and designed for sports riders seeking race-inspired performance. Developed with track use in mind, the suit incorporates features such as a MotoGP-inspired aerodynamic hump, removable mesh vest and stretch panels for enhanced comfort and freedom of movement.

Adventure riders are catered for through two dedicated adventure outfits centred around the Odin jacket and matching protective trousers. Available in two colourways, the garments combine weather protection, adjustability and long-distance comfort, with complementary gloves completing the package.

Honda has expanded its riding gear line-up through its partnership with Japanese helmet specialist Kabuto, unveiling the all-new KF-2F full-face helmet at EICMA 2026.

Designed and engineered in Japan, the KF-2F combines high levels of protection, aerodynamic performance and integrated rider technology in a package developed for both road and track use. The launch marks Honda’s first dedicated Super Sport full-face helmet segment, completing a comprehensive helmet line-up that now spans open-face, modular, adventure and now high-performance sports categories.

Developed with a clear focus on Super Sport riding, and drawing on development experience gained through Kabuto’s flagship F-17 racing helmet, the KF-2F features the company’s Advanced Composite Technology (A.C.T.-3) shell construction. As a result, the KF-2F is approved for global competition use thanks to FIM FRHPhe-02 homologation, whilst also meeting the latest, stringent ECE 22.06 certification requirements. Combining premium safety credentials with an accessible price point, the KF-2F aims to make race-level helmet technology available to a broader range of riders.

Safety credentials are further enhanced by the inclusion of the Mips® Safety System, designed to help reduce rotational forces transmitted to the head during certain angled impacts. Riders can also opt for a version equipped with the integrated Quin system, adding intelligent safety and connectivity functionality.

All KF-2F helmets come standard with the Quin Tag, providing access to essential rider information in case of an emergency.

The optional Quin Pod-equipped KF-2F goes further and incorporates crash detection technology capable of notifying pre-selected emergency contacts with location details should a serious incident occur. Through the accompanying mobile application, riders can also access ride data and performance tracking features, including route information and additional riding metrics.

Aerodynamic performance has been a key focus throughout development. Wind tunnel testing and racing experience have informed the helmet’s streamlined profile, helping to reduce drag and rider fatigue while maintaining stability at speed. Carefully designed ventilation channels promote airflow through the helmet, providing effective cooling and comfort across a wide range of riding conditions.

The introduction of the KF-2F represents a significant milestone in Honda’s rider equipment strategy. By adding a dedicated Super Sport full-face model to its existing range of open-face, modular and adventure helmets, Honda now offers riders a complete helmet portfolio tailored to every riding style and application.

At launch, the KF-2F will be available in a range of new graphic options, including Honda-branded designs and replica colour schemes inspired by Honda test rider and MotoGP race winner Aleix Espargaró. The KF-2F is expected to launch in Europe in 2027, and will be available through Honda dealers in S, M, L, and XL sizes.

Honda’s range-topping SH powers into 27YM wearing a range of updated colours and a substantial tech update.

25YM saw the classic SH styling updated with the addition of LED lighting. Standard specification includes a 4.2” TFT with Roadsync connectivity Smart Key operation, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), USB-C socket in the front pocket, and an internal compartment light. New colour options for 27YM elevate the SH350i again, ensuring it continues to cut its unique path through every European city.

1. Introduction

Look around Europe’s capital cities and two letters will be constantly, obviously, on the move around you: SH. Over a million SH scooters have been sold in Europe over the last 42 years, earning the SH tag the status of a brand-within-a-brand, underpinned by Honda’s famed build quality and reliability.

The SH300i, with its compact, flat-floored step-through design and 16-inch front and rear wheels carried all the SH signature touches and packed something extra – a powerful engine delivering maximum response for both city and highway use.

It became the first Honda to gain EURO4 compliance back in 15YM; at the same time its engine got a boost in torque output and fuel efficiency. Its look, too, was made more muscular while the chassis received revisions to expand storage space and maintain its razor-sharp handling.

In 19YM it gained Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and Smart Key operation, and, in 21YM, the story continued: the SH350i grew cubic capacity, thus power and torque, and received an elegant re-style further cementing its position as the perfect all-round flat floor urban scooter.

With a family that also includes the ever-popular SH125i and SH150i, for 25YM the range-topping SH350i added to its desirability through a design refresh that overhauled the front end. New colours and increased onboard tech for 27YM ensure the head of the SH family maintains its status as one of Europe’s favourite scooters.

2. Model Overview

The SH350i has won legions of fans throughout Europe thanks to its tough core, and desirable spec list. Its eSP+ engine makes peak power of 21.5Kw and is strong all the way through the rev-range, delivering the fast acceleration for which it is justifiably famous. The mainframe is a durable, lightweight steel underbone layout; 16-inch wheels roll smoothly while the suspension – telescopic front forks and twin rear shocks – delivers a compliant ride.

A thorough 25YM update delivered revised ECU settings, catalyser and muffler layout, as well as an additional O2 sensor. The 25YM overhaul also saw the SH350i gain sleek new styling, built around an updated ‘face’ and LED light unit. Practicality was also boosted through the addition of an internal luggage light to the under-seat compartment which, as ever, takes a full-face helmet. A USB-C socket can also be found in the front storage pocket, and the dash is attractive LCD.

For 27YM the SH350i receives further revision to its spec list, gaining the 4.2” full colour TFT screen with Roadsync compatibility, bringing the scooter right up to date and increasing its desirability amongst modern commuters.

The 27YM SH350i will be available in the following colour options:

3. Key Features
    3.1 Styling & Equipment

• Unmistakable, sophisticated SH style includes signature flat floor

• Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) function warns other road users of sudden braking

The SH350i is a scooter that instantly defines its presence on the road, marking out its premium SH lineage. Its 25YM update saw the scooter undergo a design evolution, gaining a redesigned headlight, side lights and reprofiled indicators for a sleek frontal signature. The rear lights were also reprofiled, and made LED all round for increased visibility and safety.

Of course, as an SH, function is as important as form. The riding position supports a wide range of rider sizes and delivers a relaxed, upright stance and great all-round vision. Total machine length is 2160mm, with width of 742mm and height of 1,177mm. Minimum ground clearance is 130mm.

There’s room for a full-face helmet under the seat – with a useful internal light – and seat height itself is an easy-to-manage 805mm (just 6mm more than the SH125/150). Additional storage can be found in the glovebox that can take everyday items and valuables. There’s also a USB-C socket for easy charging of a mobile device. The standard SH flat floor (435mm wide) makes loads easy to carry as well as aiding the rider step on and off. A foldable utility hook on the front panel adds bag-carrying convenience.

For 27YM, the centrepiece of the new riding experience is a brand new, full colour 4.2-inch TFT display that includes a fuel gauge and clock. It also incorporates Bluetooth, while the smartphone connectivity of Honda RoadSync is also an upgrade. This feature allows straightforward, on-screen turn-by-turn navigation as well as the option (via a Bluetooth helmet headset) for the rider to make calls or listen to music. Owners just need to download the Honda RoadSync app, connect to their SH350i, and they’re ready to go. For convenient smartphone charging, a USB-C socket is included.

The front and rear indicators have an auto-cancelling Emergency Stop Signal feature. Once the ABS recognises hard braking is in process, the hazard lights flash to warn other road users.

Adding to the convenience of a busy life on the move is the Smart Key which – as well as controlling the main ignition switch knob and storage compartment locking – can also manage the optional 35L top box. With the Smart Key in the rider’s pocket the Smart Top Box is unlocked, and automatically locks when the rider walks away. It can also be locked from the key.

3.2 Engine

• 330cc engine produces 21.5Kw peak power with 31.5Nm torque
• eSP+ technology ensures fuel economy of 28.6km/L (WMTC mode)
• Useful everyday performance whilst complying with stringent emissions targets for Euro5+

The SH350i’s enhanced Smart Power+ (eSP+) engine achieves both high environmental performance and strong output characteristics through comprehensive adoption of technologies for friction reduction.

Liquid-cooled, the fuel-injected SOHC four-valve unit produces peak power of 21.5kW @ 7,500rpm, with maximum torque of 31.5Nm @ 5,250rpm. From a standing start, the SH350i will hit 200m in 10.2s.

Bore is 77mm with 70.8mm stroke; compression ratio is set at 10.5:1. Roller-type rocker arm, plain journal crank bearings and sealed crankcases deliver long-term reliability together with strong performance. To enhance piston cooling, an oil jet, as used on the CRF450R, sprays oil right to the back of the piston, advancing ignition timing and improving combustion performance. Oil capacity is 1.85 litres.

Air is supplied via a 5.5 litre airbox. A 36mm throttle body feeds 28mm inlet valves with maximum efficiency. The intake port also draws air efficiently, utilising a ‘tumble’ flow within the cylinder for consistent fuel combustion. Exhaust gases are expelled via a straight exhaust port.

Internal friction is reduced through a 5mm offset cylinder, a hydraulic cam chain adjuster and a scavenger pump. Used on high-performance machines, the pump lowers the internal pressure within the engine, reduces oil agitation and decreases pumping losses and internal rotational friction. A balancer shaft further reduces vibration and contributes to a smooth enjoyable ride.

An automatic centrifugal clutch works a V-Matic transmission (with ratios set for fast low speed reaction and smart acceleration) and belt final drive.

The engine is equipped with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). The system detects any difference between the front and rear wheel speeds, calculates the slip ratio and then controls engine torque via the fuel injection to regain rear wheel traction. HSTC can be switched ON-OFF via a switch on the left handlebar. A ‘T’ indicator in the digital display flickers when the system is working to manage grip.

Fuel economy is a frugal 30.03km/L (WMTC mode); the 9.1L tank capacity gives a potential 270km+ range.

3.3 Chassis

• Lightweight steel underbone frame 
• 35mm telescopic forks and twin rear shock absorbers
• Stability from 16-inch front and rear wheels; new Pirelli Angel scooter tyres

The well-proven chassis is designed to deliver agility and composure in all riding situations and each component of the steel underbone frame is optimised for high-speed stability and comfort. Caster Angle and trail are set at 27.5° and 99mm respectively, with wheelbase set at 1450mm. For maximum control and nimbleness, the handlebars feature a 45° turn radius from centre, whilst kerb weight is just 172kg (175kg FOP).

Supple suspension response is provided by 35mm telescopic forks, twin rear shock absorbers, cast aluminium swingarm (with new 25YM muffler mounting shape) and an Oleo link system mounted underneath the engine to assist handling feel and bump absorption.

Tyres are sized 110/70-16 front and 130/70R16 rear and, for 25YM, are Pirelli Angel (from Pirelli FEELFREE). Two-channel ABS manages the 256mm disc brakes front and 240mm rear.

A range of Genuine Honda Accessories are available for the SH350i. An Urban Pack enhances practicality and provides added peace of mind by equipping comfort and security accessories, all without losing any of the SH’s iconic style cues. The curated pack includes:

Honda’s ADV125 brings rugged SUV-inspired style to the 125cc class for 27YM, combining adventure scooter attitude, premium specification and everyday practicality in a package accessible to a wide range of riders.

Inspired by the larger members of Honda’s ADV family, the ADV125 blends urban agility with enhanced comfort, practical versatility and genuine all-road confidence. Packing fresh ADV family styling, a full-colour 5-inch TFT display with Honda RoadSync connectivity, and USB Type-C charging the ADV125 is the perfect companion for the modern commuter. Its liquid-cooled four-valve eSP+ engine delivers efficient yet responsive performance, while long-travel suspension, generous ground clearance, block-pattern tyres and adjustable windscreen reinforce its adventure credentials.

1. Introduction

Back in 2017, Honda created an entirely new category with the X-ADV.

By combining the practicality of a scooter with the rugged styling and go-anywhere attitude of an adventure motorcycle, it introduced the concept of the “City Adventure” to riders around the world. The idea was simple: Create a machine equally at home navigating city streets during the week and exploring further afield at the weekend.

The concept proved enormously successful. As demand grew, Honda expanded the European ADV family to include the ADV350, allowing an ever-wider audience of riders to experience its unique blend of scooter practicality and adventure-inspired freedom.

The ADV125 continues this philosophy for 27YM, offering A1 licence holders a distinctive alternative to conventional urban scooters. Designed for riders who want more from their daily commute, it combines rugged styling, practical versatility and everyday ease of use in a uniquely characterful package. Its tough SUV inspired styling, elevated riding position and a comprehensive specification set it apart from conventional scooters while retaining the practicality, efficiency and ease of use that define the category.

From the weekday dash across town to spontaneous weekend escapes, the ADV125 is built to encourage exploration and make every journey a little more interesting; a mantra embodied by the ADV125’s development concept:

“Beyond Boundaries – An Exclusive Urban Explorer”

2. Model Overview

Bringing genuine ADV family DNA to the 125cc class, the ADV125 combines rugged SUV-inspired styling, sophisticated technology and everyday practicality with the efficiency and ease of use demanded by urban riders.

The ADV125 combines the proven efficiency and refinement of Honda’s liquid-cooled enhanced Smart Power Plus (eSP+) engine with a chassis package specifically developed to deliver confidence and versatility regardless of the journey. Throw in chic, modern styling, a comprehensive specification and Honda’s renowned reliability and the ADV125 offers an appealing blend of style, practicality and technology for urban riders.

Built around a tall riding position and relaxed rider triangle, the ADV125 is as at home filtering through traffic as it is exploring beyond the city limits.

The long-travel suspension and generous 165mm ground clearance deliver both commanding visibility and the ability to tackle poor road surfaces with ease. Visually, the ADV125 embodies the modern sports utility vehicle approach that has defined its ADV350 and X-ADV stablemates. Wide block-pattern tyres contribute to comfort and stability while reinforcing the ADV125’s unmistakable SUV-inspired appearance.

The ADV125’s appeal isn’t just cosmetic. Packed with an extensive spec list, the ADV125 features a full-colour five-inch TFT display, with Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity, USB-C charging port, Smart key operation, as well as Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) and in-built Emergency Stop Signals (ESS).

Everyday practicality remains central to the package. Under the seat sits a generous 29-litre storage compartment capable of accommodating a full-face helmet, while a front glovebox provides convenient stowage of small, everyday items.

3. Key Features
    3.1 Engine

• Proven, robust 125cc, water-cooled eSP+ SOHC four-valve engine 
• Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) 
• Idling Stop technology

The ADV125 is powered by the same proven, robust powertrain as utilised by the PCX125. Built around the enhanced Smart Power Plus (eSP+) four-valve, water-cooled SOHC powerplant the ADV125 delivers 9.2kW @ 8,750rpm, with peak torque of 11.7Nm @ 6,500rpm. Bore and stroke is set at 53.5 x 55.5mm with compression ratio of 11.5:1.

It accelerates smartly from a standing start or roll-on, and the ADV125 will cruise happily around 90km/h. V-max is 97km/h. And, thanks to the engine’s fuel efficiency of approximately 47.6km/l (WMTC mode), and 8.1L tank range is approximately 385km between fill-ups.

Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which works in the background to deftly manage rear wheel traction, helps to boost rider confidence in wet conditions. A ‘T’ indicator flickers on the dash when HSTC is actively reducing wheelspin, and the system can be turned off completely.

Honda’s eSP+ low-friction technologies are found throughout the engine; clever packaging of items like the oil pump (which is built into the crankcase) help to further ensure efficiency. A compact combustion chamber and PGM-FI fuel injection – with 28mm diameter throttle body, 2mm larger – optimises burning velocity and cooling performance.

An offset cylinder reduces friction caused by contact between piston and bore, efficiently transmitting combustion energy to the crankshaft. A ‘spiny’ cast-iron sleeve – with tiny surface extensions – keeps in check any distortion of the inner bore diameter. This design lowers tension in the piston ring, reducing friction. A hydraulic cam chain tensioner further improves engine efficiencies by reducing internal vibrations and improving fuel economy.

Piston oil jets – as used by CRF450R competition MX machine – maintain consistent cooling. This allows ignition timing advances and prevents abnormal combustion, such as ‘knocking’. A hydraulic cam chain tensioner lifter inhibits chain vibration, controls noise and reduces friction.

A high-efficiency radiator – integrated into the exterior of the right-side crankcase – employs a small, light fan reducing frictional losses and lowering drag. Rolling resistance within the transmission unit is reduced using three low-friction main bearings, all designed to deal with the loads they individually receive. An optimised clutch – and pulleys – complement the performance.

The electronically controlled, brushless ACG starter is an integrated component mounted directly on the end of the crankshaft, serving as starter motor and alternator. It spins the engine directly, eliminating any noise from gear engagement or meshing.

Idling Stop automatically stops the engine running after three seconds at idle when the scooter is stationary, and the brakes applied, restarting instantly when the throttle is twisted. It’s seamless in use thanks to ACG and the swing-back system that returns the crank to its position before air intake, and a decompression mechanism that negates cranking resistance from compression. It has the functionality to ‘read’ the battery charge and turns itself off to avoid excessive drain.

3.2 Chassis

• Proven duplex steel cradle frame gives solid foundation for bike
• Long-travel suspension gives 165mm ground clearance
• Block-pattern tyres deliver confident handling and off-road ability
• Lightweight handling and excellent manoeuvrability

The ADV125 is built around a tough, duplex steel cradle frame that has been designed to deliver the durability needed for the rigours of everyday life, whilst delivering genuine rough-road capabilities.

Long-travel suspension delivers 116mm front and 103mm rear wheel travel, providing improved comfort when riding over potholes, poor road surfaces and urban obstacles. External reservoir rear shock absorbers add a new level of damping consistency, and reinforce the premium feel of the package.

The ADV125’s distinctive wheel design complements its rugged styling while contributing to ride comfort and rider feedback. These are mounted with block-patterned tubeless tyres, which have been selected to cope with unexpected variation of city street surfaces, as well as deliver run-through performance on unpaved and rough roads. Sized 110/80-14 for the front and 130/70-13 for the rear, the tough-looking tyres contribute to the SUV aesthetic and deliver linear handling performance and pleasant ride comfort.

Braking performance comes from a 240mm front wavy disc and 220mm rear wavy disc. This new design not only reduces unsprung weight, but also effectively scrapes out dirt and rainwater on the pad ensuring consistent performance regardless of the road surface.

3.3 Styling & Equipment

• 29L underseat storage capacity and adjustable windscreen

The ADV125’s styling is instantly recognisable as part of Honda’s wider ADV family, combining sharp bodywork, strong horizontal lines and rugged proportions inspired by modern SUVs and adventure motorcycles. Its bold, confident shapes help create a unique silhouette in the 125cc scooter segment.

Wide block-pattern tyres, substantial suspension components and an elevated stance reinforce its tough, go-anywhere character, while careful attention to rider comfort and practicality ensures it remains perfectly suited to everyday use.

A key feature is the two-position windscreen, which can be adjusted through 75mm using Honda’s slide-lock mechanism. In its lower setting it promotes airflow during urban commuting, while the higher position provides increased weather protection and comfort on longer journeys.

The upright riding position delivers excellent visibility in traffic and helps reduce fatigue over extended distances. A narrow seat profile and accessible 780mm seat height further enhance rider confidence, particularly at low speeds and when manoeuvring in confined spaces.

Practicality is enhanced by generous storage and convenience features, including 29 litres of under-seat luggage space, a 2-litre front inner box and a USB Type-C charging socket. Full LED lighting and Honda SMART Key operation add a premium feel, making the ADV125 as convenient as it is versatile.

Central to the riding experience is Honda’s proven five-inch TFT display that offers clear information presentation to riders and brings with it Honda RoadSync smartphone connectivity. The system allows riders to access selected smartphone functions, such as music control, navigation, messaging and more, while keeping their attention focused on the road ahead.

Honda SMART Key adds further everyday convenience, enabling keyless operation of the ignition, seat and fuel filler system while also incorporating anti-theft and answer-back functions.

Comprehensive safety comes via Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which is equipped as standard. The ADV125 is also equipped with Emergency Stop Signal technology, which automatically flashes the indicators under heavy braking to alert following road users to sudden deceleration.

4. Accessories

A focused range of Genuine Honda Accessories are available for the 27YM ADV125, allowing riders to add extra comfort, carrying capacity, security and protection to suit everyday commuting and leisure use.

The line up includes: 

• Heated grips for increased comfort in colder conditions
• Security buzzer to provide an additional deterrent when parked.
• Rear carrier and 40-litre smart top box, adding practical storage and everyday convenience. Fully integrated with the Honda SMART Key system, the top box can be unlocked effortlessly without removing the key from your pocket.
• Body cover to help protect the ADV125 when not in use.

All accessories have been developed to integrate neatly with the ADV125 and retain its distinctive adventure-inspired styling.

Honda’s versatile flagship adventurer enters new territory with a new model for 27YM – the CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports.

It features extra ground clearance, taller seat height plus long-travel, fully adjustable CRF450RALLY-spec 49mm closed cartridge USD front forks and Pro-Link Showa rear monoshock. Tough styling has a stance that is fully mass-forward with minimum rear bodywork, ultra-light dual LED headlights, screen and high front mudguard. Two transmission options are available: six-speed manual or six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). A Honda SMART Key operates the ignition, steering lock and fuel cap while cruise control and knuckle guards are also standard fit.

1. Introduction 

It’s been nearly 40 years since the Honda XRV650 Africa Twin first rolled into Europe and while the motorcycle that now bears its name, launched for 16YM as the CRF1000L Africa Twin, was a brand-new machine from the wheels up, it fully inherited the essence and spirit of what made the original so popular.

It was the balance between power and light weight that was at the heart of the original bike’s appeal, as it was for the new model. With its unique, athletic appearance, an enjoyable, usable engine and capable, comfortable chassis, the CRF1000L Africa Twin proved itself a true modern-day all-rounder and has been hugely popular with round-the-world adventurers, around-town commuters and weekend tourers alike.

18YM saw the Africa Twin, in both manual transmission and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) form, gain Throttle-By-Wire (TBW), expanded riding mode options and enhanced Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), giving riders greater control and adaptability across a wider range of conditions. Intake and exhaust revisions also improved engine response and sound quality. The platform itself expanded with the introduction of the Africa Twin Adventure Sports, featuring improved wind protection, greater fuel range and longer-travel suspension, extending the machine’s long-distance capabilities even further.

For 20YM, the introduction of a larger-capacity, longer-stroke 1,084cc engine marked another evolutionary landmark. The touring ability of the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports was further enhanced by the option of Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) suspension. At the same time, the CRF1100L Africa Twin itself was redrawn with a more aggressive, compact rally-inspired style. Alongside increased power and torque, it was also significantly lighter, remaining true to the first principles laid down all those years ago.

For 22YM, refined DCT settings and a standard-fit aluminium rear carrier further enhanced day-to-day usability. 24YM marked another significant evolution, bringing an Electronic Suspension option, increased engine torque, further DCT optimisation and enhanced equipment levels.

The ‘returning’ Africa Twin’s popularity has endured for a full decade. Since its reintroduction, it has become the second most popular model in Europe’s 1000cc+ Adventure segment, with more than 120,000 units sold. Consistently among Honda’s top three best-selling full-size motorcycles, it has earned an exceptionally loyal following across the continent.

Now, for 27YM, a decade after the arrival of the CRF1000L, a new chapter begins. The latest generation of Africa Twin introduces the CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports. Lining up alongside the new CRF1150L Africa Twin, the CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports and CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports Honda SENSING RIDE, the Enduro Sports strips the benchmark model back, ready for full-on off-road action, while retaining the fundamental qualities that make for such a great all-round machine.

2. Model Overview

The all-new 27YM CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports has been developed for riders seeking maximum off-road capability while retaining the fundamental versatility that defines the Africa Twin name. Sharing its core platform with the latest generation CRF1150L Africa Twin, it combines increased performance, reduced weight and purpose-built chassis specification to deliver exceptional ability across the most demanding terrain.

At its heart is the same extensively revised 1,131cc parallel twin-cylinder engine found across the 27YM Africa Twin range. Peak power increases by over 12kW to 87.5kW, with torque rising 7Nm to 119Nm, thanks to increased capacity, a redesigned intake system, larger-diameter throttle bodies, revised valvetrain and cylinder head and a higher compression ratio. Riders can choose between a six-speed manual transmission or Honda’s six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT).

A revised suite of riding modes enhances adaptability across changing conditions. New default SPORT, TOURING, URBAN and RAIN settings are joined by OFFROAD and the new OFFROAD+ mode, developed specifically for more challenging terrain. All riding modes now feature in-mode customisation, allowing riders to tailor machine behaviour to their individual preferences.

Like the 27YM Africa Twin itself, the Enduro Sports benefits from a lighter chassis package. Together, the steel frame and aluminium swingarm are 1.4kg lighter than the 26YM Africa Twin, while the centre of gravity has been lowered through the centralisation of key components and the introduction of a fuel sub-tank positioned beneath the rider’s seat.

The riding position has also been refined, with narrower handlebars mounted higher and further forward, while the footpegs move inward and rearward. Revised seat foam thickness and contouring improve rider comfort, with seat height adjustable between 870mm and 890mm. Kerb weight is 228kg for the manual transmission model.

Purpose-built suspension underlines the Enduro Sports’ off-road focus. Fully adjustable 49mm Showa closed-cartridge USD forks provide 240mm of travel, while a fully adjustable Showa rear shock operates through Honda’s Pro-Link system with 230mm rear axle travel. Ground clearance is set at 260mm, reinforcing the machine’s ability to tackle challenging terrain with confidence.

Braking performance is delivered by dual radial-mount four-piston front calipers operating 310mm floating discs, matched to a 256mm rear disc. A 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheel combination is fitted with 90/90-21 and 150/70-18 tubeless tyres, combining durability and ease of repair when travelling far from home.

The styling takes direct inspiration from Honda’s HRC rally competition machines. A purposeful mass-forward stance, minimal rear bodywork and high-mounted front mudguard clearly communicate the bike’s off-road intent, while lightweight dual LED headlights and a compact screen complete the focused design.

Technology and connectivity are equally advanced. A 5.7-inch vehicle information display integrates with a 7-inch full-colour TFT touchscreen featuring a dedicated off-road display and compass function. Operation is via the touchscreen and new backlit switchgear designed for intuitive use in all conditions.

Additional convenience comes from a USB-C charging socket positioned behind the display, while wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity are fitted as standard. A Honda SMART Key system operates the ignition, steering lock and fuel cap, while cruise control and knuckle guards are also included as standard equipment.

The 27YM Honda CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports will be available in a unique Extreme Red colour scheme.

3. Key Features
    3.1 Engine

• 1,131cc engine produces 16.5% more peak power compared to the CRF1100L Africa Twin
• 87.5kW @ 7,500rpm with torque of 119Nm @ 5,750rpm
• Performance upgrade derived from new intake system feeding revised, high-compression combustion chambers, new valves, springs, cam timing/lift, pistons, con-rods and crankshaft
• New clutch and gear ratios for sharp acceleration response and relaxed highway cruising
• New exhaust optimised for emissions performance and power output

The new 1,131cc parallel twin-cylinder engine sits at the heart of the 27YM CRF1150L Africa Twin’s development programme. Delivering more power and torque throughout the rev range, it reinforces the machine’s reputation for effortless versatility, whether covering long motorway distances, tackling demanding trails or simply enjoying everyday riding.

The numbers tell the story. Peak power rises by 16.5% to 87.5kW at 7,500rpm, while peak torque increases to 119Nm at 5,750rpm, up from 75kW at 7,500rpm and 112Nm at 5,500rpm respectively. Capacity increases to 1,131cc through a 2mm increase in bore, to 94.0mm, while the 81.5mm stroke is retained. Compression ratio also rises significantly, from 10.5:1 to 12.1:1, helping deliver stronger performance across the entire operating range.

The result is noticeably stronger acceleration, improved roll-on response and even greater long-distance touring ability. While top speed remains unchanged, the Africa Twin now boasts more immediate drive through gears one to five. Highway cruising is also more relaxed, with revised gearing reducing engine speed.

Achieving these gains required comprehensive development throughout the engine package. The airflow path, from the larger-diameter intake duct through the airbox and into the inlet ports, has been redesigned to improve efficiency, increasing both power and throttle response. Larger 52mm throttle bodies, up from 46mm, feed the higher-compression combustion chambers, while air filter access has also been simplified to ease routine maintenance.

Honda’s proven SOHC Unicam valvetrain, derived from the competition-specification CRF450R motocrosser, remains central to the engine’s compact design. The low-mounted cast camshaft allows a tightly packaged cylinder head, while revisions to port and combustion chamber design support the increased compression ratio and improved airflow requirements.

Further refinements include revised cam timing, valve lift and valve spring specifications. Intake valve diameter increases by 1mm to 37.5mm, while exhaust valves adopt a revised profile. To ensure long-term durability, cam chain width has been increased and the cam chain tensioner, guide and plate have all been optimised.

Internal component development extends throughout the engine. All-new pistons feature revised crown profiles, skirts and pins, together with redesigned compression, scraper and oil control rings, while the con-rods and crankshaft have been rebalanced to accommodate increased combustion pressures.

The engine’s characteristic feel remains a defining feature. The 270° phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval continue to deliver the distinctive pulse and traction characteristics for which the Africa Twin is renowned. Secondary vibrations are neutralised by the reciprocating action of the pistons, while revised biaxial balance shafts effectively manage primary inertial and coupling forces, ensuring smooth operation across the rev range.

The engine architecture itself remains highly compact. Horizontally split crankcases house a water pump integrated within the clutch casing, while the thermostat is incorporated into the cylinder head. Manual transmission and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) versions share common crankcases, differing only in minor external details. Both the water and oil pumps are driven by the engine’s balancer shafts, contributing to packaging efficiency.

A semi-dry sump design stores oil within the lower section of the crankcase, allowing reduced sump depth and helping minimise overall engine height. For 27YM, internal oil passages have also been revised.

The manual transmission version receives a revised clutch designed to handle the increased power and torque output, while revised gear ratios contribute to both stronger acceleration and more relaxed cruising. Enhanced surface treatment of the shift forks further improves shift quality and durability.

Completing the package, the dual exhaust downpipes have been redesigned upstream of the catalyser to achieve the optimum balance of emissions performance and power delivery.

3.2 Engine Electronics Package

• Throttle By Wire and IMU-managed HSTC upgraded to match new engine output
• Six new default riding modes: SPORT, TOURING, URBAN, RAIN, OFFROAD and OFFROAD+
• All modes can be adjusted in-mode 
• HSTC and ABS enhanced for on- and off-road use
• New Dynamic or Comfort throttle response option 

Throttle By Wire (TBW) management, plus six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) remain at the heart of the electronic package and now, with just one mode change, the rider can match the engine output, character and feel to suit the conditions or riding situation. The system offers adjustable levels of Engine Power (EP) and Engine Braking (EB). New for 27YM, 2 levels of Dynamic or Comfort throttle response are built into the default riding modes, and it is now possible to make adjustments from the baseline settings within each mode as USER. 

There are 7 levels of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with each level’s amount of intervention optimised to work with real-time input from the IMU. It’s also been fine-tuned to allow the rider an extra level of control over rear tyre traction for off-road riding. Wheelie Control (WC) is also built in. HSTC can still be turned off completely.

The CRF1100 Africa Twin had four default riding modes: TOUR, URBAN, GRAVEL and OFFROAD. These have changed for both the ‘standard’ Africa Twin and the Enduro Sports version to the following: SPORT, TOURING, URBAN, RAIN, OFFROAD and OFFROAD+. All modes can be adjusted by the rider from their baseline combinations. 

3.3 Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) 

• ‘Easy and direct’ system offers super-fast gear changes in either Manual Transmission (MT) or Automatic modes
• Smooth, natural feel when first moving away and at low speed
• SPORT mode revs higher and downshifts sooner than D, for more sporty riding
• Shifting timings vary with each riding mode
• OFFROAD and OFFROAD+ modes designed to offer more feel and traction off-road 
• Incline detection adapts shift pattern depending on gradient

Honda has sold over 330,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles across Europe since the system first appeared as an option on the VFR1200F in 2009. Testament to its acceptance in the marketplace, in 2025 DCT versions of CRF1100L Africa Twin accounted for 49% of the model’s sales in Europe, rising to 68% for the Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

DCT delivers consistent, super-fast seamless gear changes, and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th gears: the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system pre-selects the target gear using the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as, simultaneously, the second clutch engages. The result is a consistent, fast and seamless gear change. Furthermore, as the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption of the drive to the rear wheel, any gear change shock and pitching of the machine is minimised, making the change feel direct as well as smooth.

The extra benefits of durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear), impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and greater ability to focus on cornering lines and braking points add to DCT’s appeal.

Three modes of operation are available. MT mode gives full manual control, allowing the rider to shift with the handlebar trigger control buttons. Automatic D mode is ideal for city and highway riding and achieves optimum fuel efficiency. SPORT mode offers a sportier ride, with the ECU making the engine rev a little higher before shifting up and shift down sooner when decelerating for extra engine braking.

Honda’s proven DCT offers immediate manual intervention if required – the rider simply selects the required gear using the up and down shift triggers on the left handlebar. At an appropriate time, DCT seamlessly reverts to automatic mode, depending on throttle angle, vehicle speed and gear position.

DCT gives a natural, ‘feathered’ clutch feel on initial take-off and at low speed and uses new shift schedules to match the increased engine performance. The system makes use of the engine’s extra torque, shifting down earlier and uses cornering detection – adjusting the shifting programme for the most natural gear changes – dependent on riding mode selection.

DCT for the CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports is also fully equipped to operate in an adventure environment, with off-road functionality enhanced through two specific riding modes. Activating OFFROAD improves the feel for available traction and machine control by reducing the amount of clutch slip during gear changes. OFFROAD+ takes things further, allowing riders the option to choose shift programme. Further functionality for the DCT system comes in the form of incline detection, adapting the gear shift pattern depending on the grade of an incline to provide optimum control.

3.4 Chassis

• New chassis design with under seat fuel sub-tank ensures low centre of gravity
• New steel semi-double cradle frame and aluminium swingarm are 1.4kg lighter
• New fully adjustable 49mm USD closed-cartridge front forks and Pro-Link rear monoshock
• Two-piece dual radial-mount four-piston calipers, 310mm ‘wavy’ floating discs
• 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, 90/90-21/150/70-18 tubeless tyres

The CRF1150L Africa Twin’s chassis has undergone extensive development focused on lowering the centre of gravity while preserving the machine’s distinctive silhouette and all-round capability. Inspiration came from the legendary NXR750, which secured four consecutive Paris-Dakar victories between 1986 and 1989. Like that HRC-built racer, the new Africa Twin adopts a fuel sub-tank positioned beneath the seat, allowing a lower fuel level in the main tank and contributing significantly to mass centralisation.

The new fuel arrangement forms part of a wider packaging strategy. Careful positioning of major components, including the battery, ECU, fuel filler cap and airbox, keeps the centre of gravity low. The benefit is a machine that feels both more agile and more stable, whether manoeuvring at low speeds or covering ground at pace.

The steel semi-double cradle frame has also been thoroughly optimised. A revised engine head hanger improves rigidity efficiency, allowing changes to frame cross-sections and wall thickness that reduces frame weight by 0.8kg. Matching development extends to the aluminium swingarm, which is 0.6kg lighter and tuned to complement the frame’s revised rigidity balance. An aluminium bolt-on subframe completes the lightweight chassis package.

Despite these revisions, the Africa Twin retains its proven core geometry. Wheelbase is 1,585mm, with rake and trail figures of 27.5° and 117mm respectively. Kerb weight is 228kg for the manual transmission model and 239kg for the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) version.

Fully adjustable CRF450RALLY-spec. Showa 49mm USD closed-cartridge forks replace the 45mm USD forks of the previous design; the fully adjustable rear shock operates through Pro-Link, as before. Fork stroke is 240mm, rear axle travel 230mm with 260mm ground clearance (Africa Twin: 220mm/210mm/240mm).

Braking performance is provided by compact radial-mount four-piston front calipers operating dual 310mm floating wave discs through sintered brake pads. At the rear, a 256mm wave disc features a dedicated drilling pattern and profile designed to optimise rear-wheel feel and control.

The Africa Twin Enduro Sports employs the same 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheel combination as used by the Africa twin itself, fitted with tubeless tyres that allow puncture repairs without wheel removal. Stainless-steel spokes contribute to durability, while tyre sizes remain 90/90-21 at the front and 150/70-18 at the rear.

Metzeler Karoo Street tyres are approved as standard equipment, with sizes of 90/90-21M/C 54H front and 150/70-18M/C 70H rear. Riders seeking increased off-road performance can also specify Michelin Anakee Wild tyres, available in 90/90-21M/C 54R TL and 150/70-18M/C 70R TL specifications.

3.5 Styling & Equipment

The CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports adopts the design concept of Premium OFF Adventure, drawing direct inspiration from Honda’s HRC rally competition machines. Every aspect of its appearance has been shaped to emphasise off-road capability, delivering a focused and purposeful look that clearly communicates the motorcycle’s intended environment.

The Enduro Sports presents a distinctly more compact and aggressive front profile than any previous version. Ultra-compact dual LED headlights sit beneath a slim screen, creating a lightweight visual signature while reinforcing the machine’s rally-inspired character. At the rear, a redesigned LED taillight features an S-Glitter-cut lens, improving clarity while complementing the clean, minimalist styling.

The overall silhouette adopts a pronounced mass-forward stance, with stripped-back rear bodywork that reflects the motorcycle’s emphasis on agility and off-road performance. Beyond its visual impact, the redesign also incorporates a number of ergonomic refinements aimed at improving rider control across challenging terrain.

Compared to the CRF1100L Africa Twin, the handlebars are 10mm narrower and positioned 10mm higher and further forward, while the footpegs are mounted 20mm narrower and 10mm further rearward. Together, these changes create a riding position that supports both seated comfort and confident standing control when riding off-road.

With fuel capacity of 18.8 litres, thanks to a the dual-tank arrangement, the Enduro Sports has a potential range of approximately 370km. Fuel consumption is 5.1L/100km (19.6km/l) in WMTC mode for manual transmission variants.

Long-distance comfort has also been enhanced through revisions to the seat construction. Foam thickness at the rider hip contact area has been increased, while additional padding towards the rear improves support during extended rides. Seat height remains adjustable between 870mm and 890mm.

Technology takes a significant step forward with the introduction of a completely redesigned instrument and infotainment system. A new 5.7-inch vehicle information display integrates with a full-colour 7-inch TFT touchscreen, while start-up time has been reduced by approximately 70% to just 5 seconds. Optical bonding technology improves visibility in varying light conditions, and a dedicated off-road display incorporates a compass function to support navigation away from the road.

Connectivity has also been upgraded. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® are now available wirelessly, allowing navigation, communication and music functions to be accessed directly through the display. Turn-by-turn guidance and media information can be configured as widgets on the main screen, while intercom and three-way communication functionality further enhance rider convenience.

Operation is via a new set of intuitive backlit switchgear, while a USB-C charging socket positioned behind the display provides convenient access to power for personal devices. A Honda SMART Key system now operates the ignition, electric steering lock and fuel filler cap. Cruise control and knuckle guards are fitted as standard equipment.

Safety technology includes Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) functionality integrated into the front and rear indicators. During sudden braking from speeds above 50km/h, the hazard lights automatically flash to alert following road users. The indicator system also incorporates intelligent auto-cancellation, using comparative front and rear wheel-speed data to calculate the appropriate moment to deactivate signalling according to the riding situation. The auto-cancel function can be disabled if preferred.

Supporting Honda’s long-term ambition to achieve zero environmental impact by 2050 through Carbon Neutrality, Resource Circulation and Clean Energy initiatives, the CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports incorporates a number of environmentally-conscious  materials throughout its construction. Post-Industrial Recycled polypropylene (PIR PP) and polyamide (PIR PA) are used in the seat base and rear mudguard stay, while the screen is manufactured using DurabioTM material derived from inedible corn pellets. Post-Consumer Recycled polypropylene (PCR PP) is also utilised within the coloured resin bodywork components.

The steel frame and aluminium swingarm are lighter while a new, lower centre of gravity due to mass centralisation of components and a new fuel sub-tank design. Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) is now equipped with Honda Skyhook Control which manages damping force more precisely for an even smoother ride. Alongside the range of suspension settings available for pillion and luggage, a new ‘Minimum’ option lowers seat height 5mm. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity is now wireless while a Honda Smart Key operates the ignition, steering lock and fuel cap. Cruise control is standard as are heated grips, knuckle guards/knuckle guard extensions and aluminium rear carrier.

1. Introduction 

It’s been nearly 40 years since the Honda XRV650 Africa Twin first rolled into Europe and while the motorcycle that now bears its name, launched for 16YM as the CRF1000L Africa Twin, was a brand-new machine from the wheels up, it fully inherited the essence and spirit of what made the original so popular.

It was the balance between power and light weight that was at the heart of the original bike’s appeal, as it was for the new model. With its unique, athletic appearance, an enjoyable, usable engine and capable, comfortable chassis, the CRF1000L Africa Twin proved itself a true modern-day all-rounder and has been hugely popular with round-the-world adventurers, around-town commuters and weekend tourers alike.

18YM saw the Africa Twin, in both manual transmission and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) form, gain Throttle-By-Wire (TBW), expanded riding mode options and enhanced Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), giving riders greater control and adaptability across a wider range of conditions. Intake and exhaust revisions also improved engine response and sound quality. The platform itself expanded with the introduction of the Africa Twin Adventure Sports, featuring improved wind protection, greater fuel range and longer-travel suspension, extending the machine’s long-distance capabilities even further.

For 20YM, the introduction of a larger-capacity, longer-stroke 1,084cc engine marked another evolutionary landmark. The touring ability of the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports was further enhanced by the option of Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) suspension. At the same time, the CRF1100L Africa Twin itself was redrawn with a more aggressive, compact rally-inspired style. Alongside increased power and torque, it was also significantly lighter, remaining true to the first principles laid down all those years ago.

For 22YM, refined DCT settings and a standard-fit aluminium rear carrier further enhanced day-to-day usability. 24YM marked another significant evolution, bringing an Electronic Suspension option, increased engine torque, further DCT optimisation and enhanced equipment levels.

The Africa Twin’s popularity has matched its critical success. Since its reintroduction, it has become the second most popular model in Europe’s 1000cc+ Adventure segment, with more than 120,000 units sold. Consistently among Honda’s top three best-selling full-size motorcycles over 125cc, it has earned an exceptionally loyal following across the continent.

Now, for 27YM, a decade after the arrival of the CRF1000L, a new chapter begins. Alongside major upgrades for the Africa Twin itself, a new off-road focussed Enduro Sports variant joins the line-up, and the CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports arrives alongside the CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports Honda SENSING RIDE: A range topping model with a completely new depth of appeal.

2. Model Overview 

For its tenth anniversary, Honda’s benchmark adventure machine receives its most comprehensive updates yet across both its existing variants. The 27YM CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports delivers more power, more torque and greater capability across every aspect of its design, while remaining true to the balance of performance, agility and all-round usability that has defined the Africa Twin name for nearly four decades.

At the heart of the package is a substantially revised parallel twin-cylinder engine. Peak power increases by over 12kW to 87.5kW, with torque rising over 7Nm to 119Nm, thanks to increased capacity, a redesigned intake system, larger-diameter throttle bodies, revised valvetrain and cylinder head and a higher compression ratio. Also driving the increase in output, detailed development extends throughout the engine, with revised pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft and balancer shafts, alongside updates to the manual clutch and six-speed transmission. Honda’s proven six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) remains available as an option.

Rider control is enhanced through a revised suite of riding modes. New default SPORT, TOURING, URBAN and RAIN settings are joined by OFFROAD and a new OFFROAD+ mode, developed specifically for challenging terrain. All riding modes now feature in-mode customisation, allowing riders to tailor machine performance more precisely to their preferences and riding conditions.

The chassis has also undergone significant development for even greater cornering agility and enhanced dynamic performance. Together, the steel frame and aluminium swingarm are 1.4kg lighter, with a reduced centre of gravity thanks to careful mass centralisation and a new fuel sub-tank arrangement that positions a portion of fuel beneath the rider’s seat. The riding position has been refined, with narrower handlebars positioned higher and further forward, footpegs moved slightly inward and rearward, and a reshaped seat featuring revised foam density and contouring to improve long-distance comfort.

For 27YM, Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) suspension is fitted as standard equipment. The system now incorporates Honda Skyhook Control technology, which continuously manages damping force according to the vertical and pitch movement of the motorcycle’s sprung mass. The result is enhanced ride comfort and improved road holding, while preserving the precise handling and cornering performance expected of an Africa Twin. Alongside the existing suspension settings for rider, passenger and luggage combinations, a new Minimum setting lowers seat height by 5mm. Spring preload remains fully adjustable.

The 27YM Africa Twin’s refreshed design is driven by its all-new package layout. While the revised architecture delivers significant advances in performance, comfort and technology, it has also enabled a fundamental evolution of the motorcycle’s proportions. The riding position and mass distribution have been visually shifted forward, creating a more dynamic stance while maintaining the Africa Twin’s balanced and approachable character. The result is a slimmer visual impression, enhanced presence and a more sophisticated, upright silhouette.

New dual LED headlights feature a more compact design, with integrated cornering lights and Daytime Running Lights (DRL), while a new electrically adjustable screen offers 130mm of height adjustment for improved wind protection and rider comfort.

Technology and connectivity have also taken a huge step forward. A new 5.7-inch vehicle information display integrates with a 7-inch full-colour TFT touchscreen, which now starts up in just five seconds and includes a dedicated off-road display and compass function. Operation is via the touchscreen and new backlit switchgear designed for intuitive use in all conditions.

Practicality has been further enhanced through the addition of a lockable storage compartment within the fuel tank cover, large enough to accommodate a smartphone and incorporating a USB-C charging socket. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity are standard, while a Honda Smart Key system now controls the ignition, steering lock and fuel cap. Cruise control, heated grips, knuckle guards and an aluminium rear carrier are also fitted as standard equipment.

The technological highlight of the range is the new for 27YM Africa Twin Adventure Sports Honda SENSING RIDE, which introduces a comprehensive suite of radar-based rider support technologies. Using front and rear radar units, the system continuously monitors surrounding traffic and provides assistance designed to enhance convenience, confidence and safety during both everyday riding and long-distance touring. Available exclusively for as a DCT version of the Adventure Sports, the system interacts seamlessly with Honda’s unique transmission to unlock even more advantages of the enduringly popular technology.

3. Key Features
    3.1 Engine

• New 1,131cc engine produces 16.5% more power at peak

The new 1,131cc parallel twin-cylinder engine sits at the heart of the 27YM CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports’ development programme. Delivering more power and torque throughout the rev range, it reinforces the machine’s reputation for effortless versatility, whether covering long motorway distances, tackling trails or simply enjoying everyday riding.

The numbers tell the story. Peak power rises by 16.5% to 87.5kW at 7,500rpm, while peak torque increases to 119Nm at 5,750rpm, up from 75kW at 7,500rpm and 112Nm at 5,500rpm respectively. Capacity increases to 1,131cc through a 2mm increase in bore, to 94.0mm, while the 81.5mm stroke is retained. Compression ratio also rises significantly, from 10.5:1 to 12.1:1, helping deliver stronger performance across the entire operating range.

The result is noticeably stronger acceleration, improved roll-on response and even greater long-distance touring ability. While top speed remains unchanged, the Africa Twin now boasts more immediate drive through gears one to five. Highway cruising is also more relaxed, with revised gearing reducing engine speed.

Achieving these gains required comprehensive development throughout the engine package. The airflow path, from the larger-diameter intake duct through the airbox and into the inlet ports, has been redesigned to improve efficiency, increasing both power and throttle response. Larger 52mm throttle bodies, up from 46mm, feed the higher-compression combustion chambers, while air filter access has also been simplified to ease routine maintenance.

Honda’s proven SOHC Unicam valvetrain, derived from the competition-specification CRF450R motocrosser, remains central to the engine’s compact design. The low-mounted cast camshaft allows a tightly packaged cylinder head, while revisions to port and combustion chamber design support the increased compression ratio and improved airflow requirements.

Further refinements include revised cam timing, valve lift and valve spring specifications. Intake valve diameter increases by 1 mm, from 36.5 mm to 37.5 mm., while exhaust valves adopt a revised profile. To ensure long-term durability, cam chain width has been increased, and the cam chain tensioner, guide and plate have all been optimised.

Internal component development extends throughout the engine. All-new pistons feature revised crown profiles, skirts and pins, together with redesigned compression, scraper and oil control rings, while the con-rods and crankshaft have been rebalanced to accommodate the increased combustion pressures.

The engine’s characteristic feel remains a defining feature. The 270° phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval continue to deliver the distinctive pulse and traction characteristics for which the Africa Twin is renowned. Secondary vibrations are neutralised by the reciprocating action of the pistons, while revised biaxial balance shafts effectively manage primary inertial and coupling forces, ensuring smooth operation across the rev range.

The engine architecture itself remains highly compact. Horizontally split crankcases house a water pump integrated within the clutch casing, while the thermostat is incorporated into the cylinder head. Manual transmission and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) versions share common crankcases, differing only in minor external details. Both the water and oil pumps are driven by the engine’s balancer shafts, contributing to packaging efficiency.

A semi-dry sump design stores oil within the lower section of the crankcase, allowing reduced sump depth and helping minimise overall engine height. For 27YM, internal oil passages have also been revised.

The manual transmission version receives a new clutch designed to handle the increased power and torque output, while revised gear ratios contribute to both stronger acceleration and more relaxed cruising. Enhanced surface treatment of the shift forks further improves shift quality and durability.

Completing the package, the dual exhaust downpipes have been redesigned upstream of the catalyser to achieve the optimum balance of emissions performance, power delivery and ground clearance.

3.2 Engine Electronics Package

Throttle By Wire (TBW) management, plus six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) remain at the heart of the electronic package and now, with just one mode change, the rider can match the engine output, character and feel to suit the conditions or riding situation. The system offers adjustable levels of Engine Power (EP) and Engine Braking (EB) that can be tailored to suit rider preference. New for 27YM, 2 levels of Dynamic or Comfort throttle response are built into the default riding modes, and it is now possible to make some adjustments within each mode as USER.

There are 7 levels of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with each level’s amount of intervention optimised to work with real-time input from the IMU. It’s also been fine-tuned to allow the rider a finer choice of the amount of rear tyre slide for off-road riding. Wheelie Control (WC) is also built in. HSTC can be turned off completely.

The CRF1100 Africa Twin Adventure Sports had four default riding modes: TOUR, URBAN, GRAVEL and OFFROAD. These have changed to the following: SPORT, TOURING, URBAN, RAIN, OFFROAD and OFFROAD+. All modes can be adjusted by the rider from their baseline combinations. 

3.3 Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

Honda has sold over 330,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles across Europe since the system first appeared as an option on the VFR1200F in 2009. Testament to its acceptance in the marketplace, in 2025 DCT versions of CRF1100L Africa Twin accounted for 49% of the model’s sales in Europe, rising to 68% for the Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

DCT delivers consistent, super-fast seamless gear changes, and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th gears: the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system pre-selects the target gear using the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as, simultaneously, the second clutch engages. The result is a consistent, fast and seamless gear change. Furthermore, as the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption of the drive to the rear wheel, any gear change shock and pitching of the machine is minimised, making the change feel direct as well as smooth.

The extra benefits of durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear), impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and greater ability to focus on cornering lines and braking points add to DCT’s appeal.

Three modes of operation are available. MT mode gives full manual control, allowing the rider to shift with the handlebar trigger control buttons. Automatic D mode is ideal for city and highway riding and achieves optimum fuel efficiency. SPORT mode offers a sportier ride, with the ECU making the engine rev a little higher before shifting up and shift down sooner when decelerating for extra engine braking.

Honda’s proven DCT offers immediate manual intervention if required – the rider simply selects the required gear using the up and down shift triggers on the left handlebar. At an appropriate time, DCT seamlessly reverts to automatic mode, depending on throttle angle, vehicle speed and gear position.

DCT gives a natural, ‘feathered’ clutch feel on initial take-off and at low speed and uses new shift schedules to match the increased engine performance. The system makes use of the engine’s extra torque, shifting down earlier and uses cornering detection – adjusting the shifting programme for the most natural gear changes – dependent on riding mode selection.

DCT for the CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports is also fully equipped to operate in an adventure environment, with off-road functionality enhanced through two specific riding modes. Activating OFFROAD improves the feel for available traction and machine control by reducing the amount of clutch slip during gear changes. OFFROAD+ takes things further, allowing riders the option to choose shift programme. Further functionality for the DCT system comes in the form of incline detection, adapting the gear shift pattern depending on the grade of an incline to provide optimum control.

The CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sport’s chassis has undergone extensive development focused on lowering the centre of gravity while preserving the machine’s distinctive silhouette and all-round capability. Inspiration came from the legendary NXR750, which secured four consecutive Paris-Dakar victories between 1986 and 1989. Like that HRC-built racer, the new Africa Twin adopts a fuel sub-tank positioned beneath the seat, allowing a lower fuel level in the main tank and contributing significantly to mass centralisation.

The new fuel arrangement forms part of a wider packaging strategy. Careful positioning of major components, including the battery, ECU, fuel filler cap and airbox, has achieved a reduction in centre of gravity and overall mass height. The benefit is a machine that feels both more agile and more stable, whether manoeuvring at low speeds or covering ground at pace.

The steel semi-double cradle frame has also been thoroughly optimised. A revised engine head hanger improves rigidity efficiency, allowing changes to frame cross-sections and wall thickness that reduces frame weight by 0.8kg. Matching development extends to the aluminium swingarm, which is 0.6kg lighter and tuned to complement the frame’s revised rigidity balance. An aluminium bolt-on subframe completes the lightweight chassis package.

Despite these revisions, the Africa Twin Adventure Sports retains its proven core geometry. Wheelbase remains 1,575mm, with rake and trail figures of 27.5° and 106mm respectively. Kerb weight is 245kg for the manual transmission model and 255kg for the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) version, and 256kg for the Africa Twin Adventure Sports Honda SENSING RIDE version.

Suspension sees one of the most significant upgrades for 27YM. While Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) was previously available, the latest-generation system is now fitted as standard equipment and incorporates Honda Skyhook control.

The system continuously calculates and applies optimum damping force based on real-time riding conditions. Data is gathered from three primary sources: vehicle speed information supplied by the ECU, machine attitude data provided by the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and fork movement monitored by the stroke sensor. Using this information, the Suspension Control Unit adjusts damping characteristics every millisecond.

Honda Skyhook continuously manages damping force according to the vertical and pitch movement of the motorcycle’s sprung mass. The result is improved tyre contact with the road surface, delivering greater stability, enhanced ride quality and increased rider confidence, particularly during highway cruising and over uneven road surfaces.

Importantly, these gains are achieved without compromising the natural steering feel and handling precision that define the Africa Twin. While damping control is most active during upright riding, system intervention is intelligently moderated during cornering to preserve feedback and maintain consistent chassis behaviour.

For 27YM, new 49mm Showa USD forks replace the previous 45mm units, while the rear suspension continues to operate through Honda’s Pro-Link system. Suspension travel is 210mm at the front and 200mm at the rear, contributing to the lower centre of gravity and improved overall balance.

The system also offers an expanded range of adjustment options. A new Minimum mode lowers seat height by 5mm and remains selected even after the ignition is switched off. Standard preload settings include Solo, Solo with Luggage, Pillion and Pillion with Full Luggage configurations. Damping force characteristics are tailored to each riding mode and can be further fine-tuned through three levels of adjustment in USER mode. Spring preload is automatically managed according to the selected configuration but can also be adjusted manually across 24 steps.

Compact two-piece radial-mount four-piston calipers and dual 310mm ‘wavy’ floating discs work through Electronically Controlled Combined ABS (eCBS) along with the rear 256mm disc; eCBS manages front and rear brake force distribution for smooth, stable and confidence-inspiring braking. The ABS mode is linked to the default riding mode selection while CBS links to suspension preload and deactivates in OFFROAD and OFFROAD+ modes. Vehicle Hold Control (VHC) temporarily maintains brake pressure while stopped, preventing roll-back on a gradient and making for smoother starts.

19-inch front and 18-inch rear (stainless steel) spoked wheels wear 110/80R19M/C 59V and 150/70-R18M/C 70H tubeless tyres, which allow for easier repairs without the need to remove the wheel, provide increased front-end grip, improved response and rider feedback, plus high-speed comfort and increased stability under braking. Bridgestone Battlax Adventure A41 and Michelin Anakee Road are approved as OEM tyres. Block pattern tyres (Michelin Anakee Wild 110/80R19M/C 59R TL and 150/70 18M/C 70R TL) are also approved for fitment.

The CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports adopts the styling theme of Touring Adventure; balancing long-range road performance, premium comfort and off-road capability with advanced equipment. Instantly recognisable as an Africa Twin, its distinctive silhouette combines a commanding front fairing with high-mounted shoulders, creating a strong visual presence while delivering the wind protection and refinement expected of Honda’s flagship adventure tourer.

A new dual-LED headlight assembly further sharpens the look while enhancing visibility. Integrated cornering lights improve illumination when turning, while Daytime Running Lights (DRL) increase conspicuity in all riding conditions. A redesigned LED taillight features an S-Glitter-cut lens, providing improved clarity and a more distinctive luxury appearance.

The styling also reflects the motorcycle’s revised chassis philosophy. A mass-forward stance and simplified rear bodywork communicate the concentration of mass towards the centre of the machine while maintaining a purposeful adventure-bike silhouette. Beyond aesthetics, the redesign incorporates a number of ergonomic refinements focused on comfort and control during long-distance travel.

The handlebars are now 10mm narrower and positioned 10mm higher and further forward, while the footpegs are mounted 20mm narrower and 10mm further rearward. Together, these changes create a more natural riding position for extended hours in the saddle. Practicality is also enhanced through a new integrated storage compartment within the fuel tank cover. Operated via a press-to-unlock mechanism, the compartment is large enough to accommodate a smartphone and incorporates a USB-C charging socket.

Fuel capacity is 24.2 litres, and the dual-tank arrangement delivers a potential range of approximately 480km thanks to WMTC fuel consumption of 5.1L/100km (19.6km/l) for manual transmission variants.

Long-distance comfort has been further improved through revisions to the seat construction. Foam thickness at the rider hip contact area has been increased, while additional padding towards the rear enhances support during extended rides. Seat height is 5mm lower than the previous model and remains adjustable between 830mm and 850mm. The new Minimum Honda Skyhook Control suspension setting can further reduce seat height by 5mm, improving accessibility for a wider range of riders.

Technology takes a significant step forward with the introduction of a completely redesigned instrument and infotainment system. A new 5.7-inch vehicle information display integrates with a full-colour 7-inch TFT touchscreen, while start-up time has been reduced by approximately 70%, to just 5 seconds. Optical bonding technology improves visibility in varying light conditions, and a dedicated off-road display incorporates a compass function for navigation away from the tarmac.

Connectivity has also been upgraded. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® are now available wirelessly, allowing navigation, communication and music functions to be accessed directly through the display. Turn-by-turn guidance and media information can be configured as widgets on the main screen, while intercom and three-way communication functionality further enhance long-distance touring convenience. New backlit switchgear has been designed to provide intuitive operation in all riding conditions.

Convenience equipment is equally comprehensive. A Honda Smart Key system operates the ignition, electric steering lock and fuel filler cap, while cruise control, heated grips, knuckle guards with knuckle guard extensions and an aluminium rear carrier are all fitted as standard equipment.

Supporting Honda’s long-term ambition to achieve zero environmental impact by 2050 through Carbon Neutrality, Resource Circulation and Clean Energy initiatives, the CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports incorporates a range of sustainable materials throughout its construction. Post-Industrial Recycled polypropylene (PIR PP) and polyamide (PIR PA) are used in the seat base and rear mudguard stay, while the screen and left and right wind deflectors are manufactured using Durabio^TM material. Post-Consumer Recycled polypropylene (PCR PP) is also utilised within the coloured resin bodywork components.

3.6 Honda SENSING RIDE 

• New Honda SENSING RIDE front and rear radar on DCT option

New for 27YM, and exclusively available on the Africa Twin Adventure Sports Honda SENSING RIDE model, is a comprehensive suite of radar-based rider support technologies.

Using front and rear radar units, the system continuously monitors surrounding traffic and provides assistance designed to enhance safety, peace of mind, and comfort during everyday riding and long-distance touring.

Honda SENSING RIDE Riding Support functions include:

• Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which maintains a set speed and predetermined following distance from vehicles ahead.
• Stop & Go, integrated with ACC to manage spacing in stop-start traffic conditions.
• Group Ride Assist, an extended function of the ACC which adjusts the distance between each motorcycle during group rides.
• Distance Assist, supports the rider in maintaining an appropriate following distance during manual throttle operation.
• Emergency Brake Assist, applies braking assistance when there is a collision risk with the vehicle ahead detected.

Honda SENSING RIDE Attention Support features include:

• Forward Collision Warning, the instrument panel displays a warning to alert the rider if a potential collision with the vehicle ahead is identified.
• Brake Pulse, which works alongside the forward collision warning system to provide additional rider awareness.

Honda SENSING RIDE also provides a range of awareness and peace-of-mind functions:

• Blind Spot Information, alerts the rider by means of a steady or flashing LED integrated into the mirrors to indicate vehicles have entered rear blind spots.
• Rear Distance Information, alerts the rider to the presence of a vehicle approaching from behind via the instrument panel.
• Rear Collision Warning, rapidly flashes the indicators to alert following traffic of a potential collision risk.

Honda’s range-topping go-anywhere adventurer enters a new generation with a radical update for 27YM. The new 1,131cc CRF1150L Africa Twin makes more power and torque – 87.5kW and 119Nm – thanks to upgrades in all areas for its parallel twin-cylinder engine for enhanced performance and efficiency.

There are 6 new default riding modes SPORT, TOURING, URBAN, RAIN, OFFROAD and OFFROAD+, all now featuring in-mode customisation. Both six-speed manual transmission and six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) remain available. The steel frame and aluminium swingarm are lighter while a lower centre of gravity due to mass centralisation of components and new fuel sub-tank design. Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) is standard fit for 27YM, now with Honda Skyhook Control which manages damping force more precisely for an even smoother ride. Alongside the range of suspension settings available for pillion and luggage, a new ‘Minimum’ option lowers seat height 10mm. Tough new styling stances mass-forward with minimum rear bodywork; new dual LED headlights are equipped with inner cornering lights and Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The handlebars are narrower, set higher and further forward while the footpeg position moves inwards and back. The seat features revised foam thickness and contouring for increased comfort. The screen is now electrically operated, through 130mm height. The new display and infotainment system comprises a 5.7-inch display and 7-inch full colour TFT screen which features a dedicated off-road panel and compass, and faster start up time. Control is via the touch screen and new, easy to operate back-lit switchgear. A lockable pocket in the fuel tank cover holds a large smartphone and houses a USB-C socket. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity is now wireless while a Honda SMART Key operates the ignition, steering lock and fuel cap. Cruise control is standard as are heated grips, knuckle guards and aluminium rear carrier.

1. Introduction 

It’s been nearly 40 years since the Honda XRV650 Africa Twin first rolled into Europe and while the motorcycle that now bears its name, launched for 16YM as the CRF1000L Africa Twin, was a brand-new machine from the wheels up, it fully inherited the essence and spirit of what made the original so popular.

It was the balance between power and light weight that was at the heart of the original bike’s appeal, as it was for the new model. With its unique, athletic appearance, an enjoyable, usable engine and capable, comfortable chassis, the CRF1000L Africa Twin proved itself a true modern-day all-rounder and has been hugely popular with round-the-world adventurers, around-town commuters and weekend tourers alike.

18YM saw the Africa Twin, in both manual transmission and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) form, gain Throttle-By-Wire (TBW), expanded riding mode options and enhanced Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), giving riders greater control and adaptability across a wider range of conditions. Intake and exhaust revisions also improved engine response and sound quality. The platform itself expanded with the introduction of the Africa Twin Adventure Sports, featuring improved wind protection, greater fuel range and longer-travel suspension, extending the machine’s long-distance capabilities even further.

For 20YM, the introduction of a larger-capacity, longer-stroke 1,084cc engine marked another evolutionary landmark. The touring ability of the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports was further enhanced by the option of Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) suspension. At the same time, the CRF1100L Africa Twin itself was redrawn with a more aggressive, compact rally-inspired style. Alongside increased power and torque, it was also significantly lighter, remaining true to the first principles laid down all those years ago.

For 22YM, refined DCT settings and a standard-fit aluminium rear carrier further enhanced day-to-day usability. 24YM marked another significant evolution, bringing an Electronic Suspension option, increased engine torque, further DCT optimisation and enhanced equipment levels.

The ‘returning’ Africa Twin’s popularity has endured for a full decade. Since its reintroduction, it has become the second most popular model in Europe’s 1000cc+ Adventure segment, with more than 120,000 units sold. Consistently among Honda’s top three best-selling full-size motorcycles over 125cc, it has earned an exceptionally loyal following across the continent.

Now, for 27YM, a decade after the arrival of the CRF1000L, a new chapter begins. A new generation of Africa Twin arrives, with the completely refreshed CRF1150L Africa Twin joined by the new CRF1150L Africa Twin Enduro Sports and hugely advanced CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports. With an exceptional balance of power, weight and all-round ability, plus a host of thoughtful upgrades and additions, the new Africa Twin is stronger, smarter and more capable than ever, on road or off.

It is, after all, an Africa Twin.

2. Model Overview 

For its tenth anniversary, Honda’s benchmark adventure machine receives its most comprehensive update yet. The 27YM CRF1150L Africa Twin delivers more power, more torque and greater capability across every aspect of its design, while remaining true to the balance of performance, agility and all-round usability that has defined the Africa Twin name for nearly four decades.

At its heart is the same extensively revised 1,131cc parallel twin-cylinder engine found across the 27YM Africa Twin range. Peak power increases by over 12kW to 87.5kW, with torque rising 7Nm to 119Nm, thanks to increased capacity, a redesigned intake system, larger-diameter throttle bodies, revised valvetrain and cylinder head and a higher compression ratio. Also driving the increase in output, detailed development extends throughout the engine, with revised pistons, connecting rods, crankshaft and balancer shafts, alongside updates to the manual clutch and six-speed transmission. Honda’s proven six-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) remains available as an option. 

A revised suite of riding modes enhances adaptability across changing conditions. New default SPORT, TOURING, URBAN and RAIN settings are joined by OFFROAD and the new OFFROAD+ mode, developed specifically for more challenging terrain. All riding modes now feature in-mode customisation, allowing riders to tailor machine performance more precisely to their preferences and riding conditions.

The chassis has also undergone significant development for even greater cornering agility and enhanced dynamic performance. Together, the steel frame and aluminium swingarm are 1.4kg lighter, while a reduction in centre of gravity has been achieved through careful mass centralisation and a new fuel sub-tank arrangement that positions a portion of fuel beneath the rider’s seat. The riding position has been refined, with narrower handlebars positioned higher and further forward, footpegs moved slightly inward and rearward, and a reshaped seat featuring revised foam density and contouring to improve long-distance comfort.

For 27YM, Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) suspension is fitted as standard equipment. The system now incorporates Honda Skyhook technology, which continuously manages damping force according to the vertical and pitch movement of the motorcycle’s sprung mass. The result is enhanced ride comfort and stability during straight-line riding, while preserving the precise handling and cornering performance expected of an Africa Twin. Alongside the existing suspension settings for rider, passenger and luggage combinations, a new Minimum setting lowers seat height by 10mm. Spring preload remains fully adjustable.

The 27YM Africa Twin’s refreshed design is driven by its all-new package layout. While the revised architecture delivers significant advances in performance, comfort and technology, it has also enabled a fundamental evolution of the motorcycle’s proportions. The riding position and mass distribution have been visually shifted forward, creating a more dynamic stance while maintaining the Africa Twin’s balanced and approachable character. The result is a slimmer visual impression, enhanced presence and a more sophisticated, upright silhouette.

New dual LED headlights feature a more compact design, with integrated cornering lights and Daytime Running Lights (DRL), while a new electrically adjustable screen offers 130mm of height adjustment and 10 degrees of rake adjustment for improved wind protection and rider comfort.

Technology and connectivity have also taken a significant step forward. A new 5.7-inch vehicle information display integrates with a 7-inch full-colour TFT touchscreen, which now starts up in just five seconds and includes a dedicated off-road display and compass function. Operation is via the touchscreen and new backlit switchgear designed for intuitive use in all conditions.

Practicality has been further enhanced through the addition of a lockable storage compartment within the fuel tank cover, large enough to accommodate a smartphone and incorporating a USB-C charging socket. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® connectivity are standard, while a Honda SMART Key system now controls the ignition, steering lock and fuel cap. Cruise control, heated grips, knuckle guards and an aluminium rear carrier are also fitted as standard equipment.

3. Key Features
    3.1 Engine

• New 1,131cc engine produces 16.5% more peak power
• 87.5kW @ 7,500rpm with torque of 119Nm @ 5,750rpm
• Performance upgrade derived from new intake system feeding revised, high-compression combustion chambers, new valves, springs, cam timing/lift, pistons, con-rods and crankshaft
• New MT clutch and gear ratios for sharp acceleration response and relaxed highway cruising
• New exhaust optimised for emissions performance and power output

The new 1,131cc parallel twin-cylinder engine sits at the heart of the 27YM CRF1150L Africa Twin’s development programme. Delivering more power and torque throughout the rev range, it reinforces the machine’s reputation for effortless versatility, whether covering long motorway distances, tackling demanding trails or simply enjoying everyday riding.

The numbers tell the story. Peak power rises by 16.5% to 87.5kW at 7,500rpm, while peak torque increases to 119Nm at 5,750rpm, up from 75kW at 7,500rpm and 112Nm at 5,500rpm respectively. Capacity increases to 1,131cc through a 2mm increase in bore, to 94.0mm, while the 81.5mm stroke is retained. Compression ratio also rises significantly, from 10.5:1 to 12.1:1, helping deliver stronger performance across the entire operating range.

The result is noticeably stronger acceleration, improved roll-on response and even greater long-distance touring ability. While top speed remains unchanged, the Africa Twin now boasts more immediate drive through gears one to five. Highway cruising is also more relaxed, with revised gearing reducing engine speed.

Achieving these gains required comprehensive development throughout the engine package. The airflow path, from the larger-diameter intake duct through the airbox and into the inlet ports, has been redesigned to improve efficiency, increasing both power and throttle response. Larger 52mm throttle bodies, up from 46mm, feed the higher-compression combustion chambers, while air filter access has also been simplified to ease routine maintenance.

Honda’s proven SOHC Unicam valvetrain, derived from the competition-specification CRF450R motocrosser, remains central to the engine’s compact design. The low-mounted cast camshaft allows a tightly packaged cylinder head, while revisions to port and combustion chamber design support the increased compression ratio and improved airflow requirements.

Further refinements include revised cam timing, valve lift and valve spring specifications. Intake valve diameter increases by 1mm to 37.5mm, while exhaust valves adopt a revised profile. To ensure long-term durability, cam chain width has been increased and the cam chain tensioner, guide and plate have all been optimised.

Internal component development extends throughout the engine. All-new pistons feature revised crown profiles, skirts and pins, together with redesigned compression, scraper and oil control rings. Lightweight aluminium cylinder sleeves contribute to overall mass reduction, while the con-rods and crankshaft have been rebalanced to accommodate increased combustion pressures.

The engine’s characteristic feel remains a defining feature. The 270° phased crankshaft and uneven firing interval continue to deliver the distinctive pulse and traction characteristics for which the Africa Twin is renowned. Secondary vibrations are neutralised by the reciprocating action of the pistons, while revised biaxial balance shafts effectively manage primary inertial and coupling forces, ensuring smooth operation across the rev range.

The engine architecture itself remains highly compact. Horizontally split crankcases house a water pump integrated within the clutch casing, while the thermostat is incorporated into the cylinder head. Manual transmission and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) versions share common crankcases, differing only in minor external details. Both the water and oil pumps are driven by the engine’s balancer shafts, contributing to packaging efficiency.

A semi-dry sump design stores oil within the lower section of the crankcase, allowing reduced sump depth and helping minimise overall engine height. For 27YM, internal oil passages have also been revised to improve lubrication flow throughout the engine.

The manual transmission version receives a new clutch designed to handle the increased power and torque output, while revised gear ratios contribute to both stronger acceleration and more relaxed cruising. Enhanced surface treatment of the shift forks further improves shift quality and durability.

Completing the package, the dual exhaust downpipes have been redesigned upstream of the catalyser to achieve the optimum balance of emissions performance and power delivery.

3.2 Engine Electronics Package

• Throttle By Wire and IMU-managed HSTC upgraded to match new engine output
• Six new default riding modes: SPORT, TOURING, URBAN, RAIN, OFFROAD and OFFROAD+
• HSTC and ABS enhanced for on- and off-road use
• All modes can be adjusted in-mode 
• New Dynamic or Comfort throttle response option

Throttle By Wire (TBW) management, plus six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and Electronic Control Unit (ECU) remain at the heart of the electronic package and now, with just one mode change, the rider can match the engine output, character and feel to suit the conditions or riding situation. The system offers adjustable levels of Engine Power (EP) and Engine Braking (EB) that can be tailored to suit rider preference. New for 27YM, 2 levels of Dynamic or Comfort throttle response are built into the default riding modes, and it is now possible to make some adjustments within each mode as USER.

There are 7 levels of Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with each level’s amount of intervention optimised to work with real-time input from the IMU. It’s also been fine-tuned to allow the rider a finer choice of the amount of rear tyre slide for off-road riding. Wheelie Control (WC) is also built in. HSTC can be turned off completely.

The CRF1100 Africa Twin Adventure Sports had four default riding modes: TOUR, URBAN, GRAVEL and OFFROAD. These have changed to the following: SPORT, TOURING, URBAN, RAIN, OFFROAD and OFFROAD+. All modes can be adjusted by the rider from their baseline combinations. 

3.3 Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT)

• ‘Easy and direct’ system offers super-fast gear changes in either Manual Transmission (MT) or Automatic modes
• Smooth, natural feel when first moving away and at low speed
• SPORT mode revs higher and downshifts sooner than D, for more sporty riding
• Shifting timings vary with each riding mode
• OFFROAD and OFFROAD+ modes designed to offer more feel and traction off-road 
• Incline detection adapts shift pattern depending on gradient 

Honda has sold over 330,000 DCT-equipped motorcycles across Europe since the system first appeared as an option on the VFR1200F in 2009. Testament to its acceptance in the marketplace, in 2025 DCT versions of CRF1100L Africa Twin accounted for 49% of the model’s sales in Europe, rising to 68% for the Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

DCT delivers consistent, super-fast seamless gear changes, and very quickly becomes second nature in use. It uses two clutches: one for start-up and 1st, 3rd and 5th gears: the other for 2nd, 4th and 6th, with the mainshaft for each clutch located inside the other for compact packaging.

Each clutch is independently controlled by its own electro-hydraulic circuit. When a gear change occurs, the system pre-selects the target gear using the clutch not currently in use. The first clutch is then electronically disengaged as, simultaneously, the second clutch engages. The result is a consistent, fast and seamless gear change. Furthermore, as the twin clutches transfer drive from one gear to the next with minimal interruption of the drive to the rear wheel, any gear change shock and pitching of the machine is minimised, making the change feel direct as well as smooth.

The extra benefits of durability (as the gears cannot be damaged by missing a gear), impossibility of stalling, low stress urban riding, reduced rider fatigue and greater ability to focus on cornering lines and braking points add to DCT’s appeal.

Three modes of operation are available. MT mode gives full manual control, allowing the rider to shift with the handlebar trigger control buttons. Automatic D mode is ideal for city and highway riding and achieves optimum fuel efficiency. SPORT mode offers a sportier ride, with the ECU making the engine rev a little higher before shifting up and shift down sooner when decelerating for extra engine braking.

Honda’s proven DCT offers immediate manual intervention if required – the rider simply selects the required gear using the up and down shift triggers on the left handlebar. At an appropriate time, DCT seamlessly reverts to automatic mode, depending on throttle angle, vehicle speed and gear position.

DCT gives a natural, ‘feathered’ clutch feel on initial take-off and at low speed and uses new shift schedules to match the increased engine performance. The system makes use of the engine’s extra torque, shifting down earlier and uses cornering detection – adjusting the shifting programme for the most natural gear changes – dependent on riding mode selection.

DCT for the CRF1150L Africa Twin is also fully equipped to operate in an adventure environment, with off-road functionality enhanced through two specific riding modes. Activating OFFROAD improves the feel for available traction and machine control by reducing the amount of clutch slip during gear changes. OFFROAD+ takes things further, allowing riders the option to choose shift programme. Further functionality for the DCT system comes in the form of incline detection, adapting the gear shift pattern depending on the grade of an incline to provide optimum control.

3.4 Chassis

The CRF1150L Africa Twin’s chassis has undergone extensive development focused on lowering the centre of gravity while preserving the machine’s distinctive silhouette and all-round capability. Inspiration came from the legendary NXR750, which secured four consecutive Paris-Dakar victories between 1986 and 1989. Like that HRC-built racer, the new Africa Twin adopts a fuel sub-tank positioned beneath the seat, allowing a lower fuel level in the main tank and contributing significantly to mass centralisation.

The new fuel arrangement forms part of a wider packaging strategy. Careful positioning of major components, including the battery, ECU, fuel filler cap and airbox, creates a reduction in centre of gravity. The benefit is a machine that feels both more agile and more stable, whether manoeuvring at low speeds or covering ground at pace.

The steel semi-double cradle frame has also been thoroughly optimised. A revised engine head hanger improves rigidity efficiency, allowing changes to frame cross-sections and wall thickness that reduce frame weight by 0.8kg. Matching development extends to the aluminium swingarm, which is 0.6kg lighter and tuned to complement the frame’s revised rigidity balance. An aluminium bolt-on subframe completes the lightweight chassis package.

Despite these revisions, the Africa Twin retains its proven core geometry. Wheelbase remains 1,575mm, with rake and trail figures of 27.5° and 117mm respectively. Kerb weight is 237kg for the manual transmission model and 247kg for the Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) version.

Suspension sees one of the most significant upgrades for 27YM. While Showa Electronically Equipped Ride Adjustment (Showa EERA) was previously available as an option, the latest-generation system is now fitted as standard equipment and incorporates Honda Skyhook Control.

The system continuously calculates and applies optimum damping force based on real-time riding conditions. Data is gathered from three primary sources: vehicle speed information supplied by the ECU, machine attitude data provided by the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and fork movement monitored by the stroke sensor. Using this information, the Suspension Control Unit can adjust damping characteristics in just 1 millisecond.

For 27YM, new 49mm Showa USD forks replace the previous 45mm units, while the rear suspension continues to operate through Honda’s Pro-Link system. Suspension travel is reduced by 10mm, to 220mm at the front and 210mm at the rear, contributing to the lower centre of gravity and improved overall balance.

Honda Skyhook Control continuously manages damping force according to the vertical and pitch movement of the motorcycle’s sprung mass. The result is enhanced ride quality, greater stability and increased rider confidence, particularly during highway cruising and over uneven road surfaces. Importantly, these gains are achieved without compromising the natural steering feel and handling precision that define the Africa Twin. While damping control is most active during upright riding, system intervention is intelligently moderated during cornering to preserve feedback and maintain consistent chassis behaviour.

The system also offers an expanded range of adjustment options. A new Minimum mode lowers seat height by 10mm and remains selected even after the ignition is switched off. Standard preload settings include Solo, Solo with Luggage, Pillion and Pillion with Full Luggage configurations. Damping force characteristics are tailored to each riding mode and can be further fine-tuned through USER adjustment settings of -1, 0 and +1. Spring preload is automatically managed according to the selected configuration but can also be adjusted manually across 24 steps.

Braking performance is provided by compact radial-mount four-piston front calipers operating dual 310mm floating wave discs through sintered brake pads. At the rear, a 256mm wave disc features a dedicated drilling pattern and profile designed to optimise rear-wheel feel and control.

The Africa Twin continues to employ a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheel combination, fitted with tubeless tyres that allow puncture repairs without wheel removal. Stainless-steel spokes contribute to durability, while tyre sizes remain 90/90-21 at the front and 150/70-18 at the rear.

Metzeler Karoo Street tyres are approved as standard equipment, with sizes of 90/90-21M/C 54H front and 150/70-18M/C 70H rear. Riders seeking increased off-road performance can also specify Michelin Anakee Wild tyres, available in 90/90-21M/C 54R TL and 150/70-18M/C 70R TL specifications.

The new CRF1150L Africa Twin adopts the design concept of Versatile Adventure, balancing long-distance road performance with genuine off-road capability. Instantly recognisable as an Africa Twin, its purposeful silhouette combines strong visual presence with functional design, led by a prominent front fairing flanked by high-mounted shoulders that reinforce the machine’s adventure-focused identity of Africa Twin.

A new dual-LED headlight assembly further sharpens the look while enhancing visibility. Integrated cornering lights improve illumination when turning, while Daytime Running Lights (DRL) increase conspicuity in all riding conditions. A redesigned LED taillight features an S-Glitter-cut lens, providing improved clarity and a more distinctive luxury appearance.

The styling also reflects the motorcycle’s revised chassis philosophy. A mass-forward stance and simplified rear bodywork visually communicate the concentration of mass towards the centre of the machine, while contributing to a cleaner, more focused appearance. Beyond aesthetics, the redesign incorporates a number of ergonomic refinements intended to improve rider comfort and control.

The handlebars are now 10mm narrower and positioned 10mm higher and further forward, while the footpegs are mounted 20mm narrower and 10mm further rearward. Together, these changes create a more natural riding position for both on-road touring and off-road riding. Practicality is also enhanced by a new integrated storage compartment within the fuel tank cover. Operated via a press-to-unlock mechanism, the compartment is large enough to accommodate a modern smartphone and incorporates a USB-C charging socket.

Fuel capacity remains unchanged at 18.8 litres, with the twin-tank arrangement working efficiently alongside the revised fuel system to deliver a potential range of approximately 370km. Fuel consumption in WMTC mode is 5.1L/100km (19.6km/l) for manual transmission variants.

Long-distance comfort has been further improved through revisions to the seat construction. Foam thickness at the hip contact area increases by 5mm to 80mm, while additional padding towards the rear of the seat enhances support during extended journeys. Seat height remains adjustable between 850mm and 870mm, while the new Minimum Showa Skyhook suspension setting can reduce height by a further 10mm to aid accessibility.

Technology sees a significant step forward with the introduction of a completely redesigned instrument and infotainment system. A new 5.7-inch vehicle information display integrates with a full-colour 7-inch TFT touchscreen, while start-up time has been reduced by approximately 70% to just 5 seconds. Optical bonding technology improves visibility in varying light conditions, and a dedicated off-road display incorporates a compass function for enhanced navigation when riding beyond the tarmac.

Connectivity has also been upgraded. Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto® are now available wirelessly, allowing navigation, communication and music functions to be accessed directly through the display. Turn-by-turn guidance and media information can be configured as widgets on the main screen, while intercom and three-way communication capability further enhance long-distance touring convenience. New backlit switchgear has been designed to provide intuitive operation in all riding conditions.

Convenience equipment is equally comprehensive. A Honda SMART Key system now operates the ignition, electric steering lock and fuel filler cap, while cruise control, heated grips, knuckle guards and an aluminium rear carrier are all fitted as standard equipment.

Safety continues to be a key consideration. The front and rear indicators incorporate Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) functionality, automatically activating the hazard lights during sudden braking above 50km/h to alert following road users. The indicator system also features intelligent auto-cancellation, using front and rear wheel-speed data to determine the appropriate moment to deactivate signalling according to the riding situation. The auto-cancel function can be switched off if preferred.

Supporting Honda’s long-term ambition to achieve zero environmental impact by 2050 through Carbon Neutrality, Resource Circulation and Clean Energy initiatives, the CRF1150L Africa Twin family incorporates a number of environmentally-conscious  materials throughout its construction. Post-Industrial Recycled polypropylene (PIR PP) and polyamide (PIR PA) are used in the seat base and rear mudguard stay, while the screen is manufactured using DurabioTM material derived from inedible corn pellets. Post-Consumer Recycled polypropylene (PCR PP) is also utilised within the coloured resin bodywork components.

The new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP makes a huge step forward and has been designed from the outset, in conjunction with HRC’s expertise and insights, to be the base of a race bike.

An all-new aluminium frame has a revised rigidity philosophy and new steering geometry, and is paired with a lighter swingarm. Öhlins Smart Electronic Control (SE-C3.0) 43mm NPX (SV) forks match a TTX36 (SV) rear shock managed by Öhlins Object Based Tuning interface (OBTi). The wheels are a new, lighter design as are the 330mm front discs and new Brembo Hypure four-piston front calipers. A six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) manages all electronic systems and the rod-type 3-level Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD). A completely new aero package has been sculpted with HRC for speed, and the fairing retains the downforce levels of the previous model with a cleaner new styling. The new LED headlight features Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The titanium fuel tank is now exposed, and seat height raised. Output of the short-stroke, inline four-cylinder semi-cam gear train engine is 160kW at peak with peak torque of 114Nm. New 2-stage Variable Air Funnels maintain top-end while boosting mid-range output while the 2-Motor Throttle-By-Wire (TBW) system delivers smooth control for both acceleration and engine braking. New cam timing, cam sprocket adjustment options and updated valve train feed machined piston crowns and combustion chambers, which in turn deliver a higher compression ratio. Magnesium engine covers and aluminium bolts save weight and the crankcases are also lighter. Revised main/counter shaft spacing open transmission ratio options* and first gear is 5% taller. The muffler is a lightweight, compact Akrapovič. A 5-inch TFT screen and four-way switch offer intuitive management of all systems. Three default riding modes cover a wide range of conditions with options to fully adjust Power, Engine Brake, Wheelie Control and HSTC. The electronics package also includes adjustable Start Mode. Honda’s SMART Key system adds convenience.

The 27YM CBR1000RR-R Fireblade HRC WE shares the frame and engine updates of the Fireblade SP but builds in geometry adjustment for the steering stem and swingarm pivot point**, plus Öhlins mechanical suspension and Brembo Hypure Sports front calipers. A bottom neutral shift structure, single seat unit and Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) dual-element wing structure, front mudguard and rear seat ducts are also included.

1. Introduction

Since its introduction in 1992, Honda’s iconic Fireblade has evolved into an extraordinary 1,000cc sports motorcycle. Along the way it has also formed the basis of highly competitive race machinery, proving itself on circuits around the world and on the roads of the Isle of Man TT.

For 20YM, Honda recognised it was time to redefine the Fireblade’s future. The result was two all-new motorcycles: the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade and CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP.

Drawing heavily on the engine and chassis technology of the RC213V-S, the ‘street-legal MotoGP machine’, alongside aerodynamic concepts from the RC213V MotoGP racer, the Fireblade was redesigned from the ground up with performance as its singular focus. Since then, development has continued at pace. 22YM marked 30 years of the Fireblade with a range of detail upgrades, while 24YM introduced extensive engine and gearbox revisions, including 2-Motor Throttle By Wire (TBW), delivering stronger mid-range performance, improved throttle response and a revised riding position.

For 27YM, Honda has taken an entirely new approach.

Rather than beginning with a road motorcycle and adapting it for competition, Honda’s R&D engineers worked alongside the HRC WorldSBK team to define the needs of the race machine first. Only after these requirements were clearly understood – and satisfied – did development of the production model begin.

The new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade serves as the foundation for this approach. Building on that platform, the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP and CBR1000RR-R Fireblade HRC WE raise performance capability still further through premium chassis components, suspension and braking systems developed for the highest level of sports riding and competition use.

For the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade HRC WE, the focus extends even further towards the racetrack, with enhanced chassis adjustability and race-focused upgrades developed to maximise setup potential and circuit performance.

The objective was simple: To build for the win by combining racing DNA with total control.

2. Model Overview 

The straightforward objective behind the development of the new Fireblade SP was to create the foundation for a more competitive race machine while retaining its capability as a road-going motorcycle. Improvements in corner entry, mid-corner speed and corner-exit acceleration were key targets, alongside overall weight reduction.

To achieve them, an all-new frame features a revised rigidity balance and steering geometry, placing more load on the front wheel while raising the engine’s crank centre. A lighter swingarm now uses the lower portion of the engine as the mounting point for the rear shock absorber.

Distinctive to the Fireblade SP is its premium Öhlins suspension package. At the front, 43mm Öhlins Smart Electronic Control (SE-C3.0) NPX (SV) forks are paired with an Öhlins TTX36 (SV) rear shock, both equipped with spool-valve technology and controlled via the latest Öhlins Objective Based Tuning Interface (OBTi). A digital spring preload guide, accessed through the TFT display, further simplifies chassis setup.

Braking performance is enhanced by new Brembo Hypure four-piston front brake calipers operating on lighter front discs and controlled through a new Brembo master cylinder and brake lever assembly. Cornering ABS includes a dedicated RACE mode, allowing rear-wheel ABS intervention to be switched off for circuit use. New lightweight wheels and the adoption of a 520 drive chain contribute to lower unsprung mass and improved handling response.

A six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) provides precise 3D monitoring of machine attitude and riding dynamics, supplying data for management of the electronic control systems. It also controls the rod-type, three-level Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD).

Developed in conjunction with HRC, the new aerodynamic package has been optimised for speed and efficiency. The newly redesigned fairing generates the same level of downforce as the previous front winglet design without the use of wing elements, while improving aerodynamic efficiency and rider wind protection. New lower cowl aerodynamic sidepods contribute to cornering performance, while a revised front spoiler works with the fairing to maximise aerodynamic performance.

A new LED headlight incorporates Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and is paired with a compact new taillight, whilst the titanium fuel tank is now exposed, removing the plastic cover of previous models to save weight. Seat height has been increased to optimise the centre of gravity of the complete rider and bike package, improving on track performance.

The short-stroke, inline four-cylinder engine with semi-cam gear train produces 160kW at 14,000rpm and 114Nm of peak torque. New two-stage Variable Air Funnels maintain top-end performance while strengthening mid-range output, while the 2-Motor Throttle By Wire (TBW) system delivers precise control of both acceleration and engine braking.

Engine revisions include new cam timing, expanded cam timing adjustment capability and updates to the valve train. Newly machined piston crowns and combustion chambers raise compression ratio, while magnesium engine covers, aluminium fasteners and lighter crankcases contribute to reduced mass. The crankshaft centreline has also been raised, while revised mainshaft and countershaft spacing broadens transmission ratio possibilities*. First gear is now five per cent taller. As before, a lightweight titanium Akrapovič muffler is fitted as standard.

Three default riding modes provide a broad range of performance characteristics, with full adjustment of Power, Engine Brake, Wheelie Control and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC). All settings have been revised to suit the engine’s updated performance character. System management is handled through a 5-inch TFT display operated via a four-way switch. The electronics package also includes adjustable Start Mode.

Honda’s SMART Key system provides keyless operation of the ignition and steering lock, while Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) functionality improves visibility to following road users during heavy braking.

The 27YM CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP will be available in the following colour options:

• Mat Ballistic Black Metallic

Built as the foundation for a WorldSBK race machine, the 27YM CBR1000RR-R Fireblade HRC WE shares the frame, engine and aerodynamic upgrades of the Fireblade SP while introducing a range of competition-focused enhancements.

These include adjustable steering-head and swingarm-pivot geometry***, Öhlins mechanical race suspension and Brembo Hypure Sports front brake calipers. A single-seat configuration and CFRP dual-element wing structure, front mudguard and rear seat ducts as well as an optional HRC bottom-neutral shift mechanism further strengthen its circuit-focused specification.

The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade HRC WE will be exclusively available in:

3. Key Features
    3.1 Chassis

• New aluminium frame features revised rigidity balance and design for improved cornering performance and feel for grip

Completely redesigned for 27YM, the new frame targets improvements in corner entry, mid-corner control and corner-exit acceleration. The aluminium diamond-style main frame is constructed using Honda’s thin-wall Gravity Die Casting (GDC) process, which allows wall thicknesses as low as 2mm and precise control of the all-important balance between rigidity and flexibility. 

Compared to the previous design, lateral stiffness is reduced by 20% improving cornering performance, grip feel and stability on both road and track. In addition to revisions of the frame itself, this work has involved changes to how the engine is held in the frame. The lower shock mounting point has moved from the frame to the rear of the engine and the engine hanger at the front of the cylinder block is now a bolt-on stay rather than a frame-integrated stiffening structure. 

Cornering stability and outright speed has also been the driving force behind the  changes in geometry for 27YM. Wheelbase is 5mm longer at 1,450mm, with revised caster angle and trail of 24°/ 101mm (previously 24.1°/ 101.9mm) for the SP, and 23.8°/ 99.8mm for the HRC-WE. Weight distribution has also shifted forward to 53.3% front and 46.7% rear (from 52.8%/47.2%), increasing front-end load.

Further changes aimed at shaving lap times through faster cornering include raising the crankshaft centreline by 5.2mm to 432.5mm, and seat height from 831.5mm to 843mm for the SP, 847mm for the HRC-WE – improving rider mobility and machine response during direction changes.

Focus has also been given to improving rear-tyre feedback and grip feel, in the form of a new, pressed aluminium swingarm which is 1.2mm shorter at 620.6mm. Its pivot shaft diameter is also reduced by 3mm to 17mm, with wall thickness and pivot width optimised to reduce lateral rigidity by 12% while maintaining torsional rigidity to match the new frame. A 200g weight reduction in the swingarm also contributes to lower unsprung mass and improved tyre contact, while the move from a 525 to a 520-drive chain saves a further 270g. The new Fireblade SP tip the scales at 201kg, and the Fireblade HRC Works Edition weighs just 200kg.

Distinctive to the Fireblade SP is its latest-generation Öhlins electronic suspension package. Up front, 43mm Öhlins S-EC3.0 (SV) NPX USD forks are clamped by exclusive forged aluminium top and bottom yokes and utilise Öhlins’ latest Spool Valve technology. The design improves ride quality, chassis composure and front-tyre feedback throughout the suspension stroke while also providing greater scope for geometry adjustment.

At the rear, an Öhlins TTX36 S-EC3.0 (SV) shock absorber complements the front suspension. Working together, the system delivers highly responsive damping control across a broad range of riding and racing conditions.

Supporting the hardware is Öhlins Objective Based Tuning Interface (OBTi), which allows significantly greater adjustment of front and rear suspension settings. Both ends can be tuned independently from the baseline settings, with three rider-defined modes available for storage. This allows rapid adaptation for varying conditions, including weather, tyre wear and fuel load. A front and rear spring preload guide, accessed through the TFT display, also provides recommended preload settings based on rider weight.

Braking performance is enhanced by new Brembo Hypure four-piston radial-mount front brake calipers, operated by a new Brembo master cylinder and brake lever assembly. Replacing the previous Stylema calipers, they deliver consistent braking performance under the sustained high temperatures generated during circuit riding. The calipers operate on revised, lighter 330mm x 4.5mm front brake discs.

A Bosch six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) provides precise measurement of pitch and roll, enabling accurate management of the motorcycle’s electronic control systems. The Fireblade SP is also equipped with a lightweight, through-rod Honda Electronic Steering Damper (HESD), mounted below the steering stem and connected to the lower yoke. HESD operation is governed by inputs from the wheel-speed sensors and IMU, with three levels of adjustment available.

Rear Lift Control and Cornering ABS further support braking performance. STANDARD mode is optimised for road riding, providing strong braking performance with reduced pitching. TRACK mode is calibrated for braking from higher circuit speeds and does not suppress rear-wheel lift, while RACE mode disables rear-wheel ABS intervention.

The aluminium wheels adopt a new seven-spoke hollow design, manufactured using the same GDC process as the frame. Revised spoke profiles and thinner wall sections reduce weight by 190g at the front and 590g at the rear, lowering both unsprung mass and rotational inertia. Tyre sizes remain 120/70-ZR17 front and 200/55-ZR17 rear.

3.2 Aerodynamic Package & Equipment

Honda’s engineers developed the new Fireblade SP aerodynamic package alongside HRC and the WorldSBK race programme, with every stage of development driven by measurable performance targets. The result is a fairing that combines improved aerodynamic efficiency, enhanced rider protection and race-proven high-speed stability in an entirely new package.

Completely redesigned for 27YM, the fairing delivers the same level of downforce as the previous model without the use of wing elements. At the same time, aerodynamic efficiency has been improved, reducing drag while increasing rider wind protection at high speed. The layered fairing mid-section, developed using feedback gained through MotoGP and WorldSBK competition, improves airflow management around the rider while enhancing stability.

A key element of the redesign is the integration of new lower cowl aerodynamic sidepods. Derived from aerodynamic concepts developed through MotoGP competition, the sidepods generate an aerodynamic effect during cornering that improves cornering performance at lean angle. Working in conjunction with the redesigned fairing and front spoiler, they contribute to stronger cornering performance while maintaining high levels of aerodynamic efficiency.

The increase in frontal area compared with the previous model was carefully managed to allow greater rider movement on the motorcycle while delivering the desired aerodynamic gains. Compared to the previous model, frontal area has been increased to improve rider accommodation during aggressive riding while careful management of bodywork shape minimises any impact on overall aerodynamic efficiency.

Development began with aerodynamic performance targets established through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis. The design was then refined through repeated cycles of digital simulation, clay modelling and real-world testing to optimise both aerodynamic performance and rider ergonomics. Every surface of the final bodywork was shaped with measurable aerodynamic gain as the priority.

For the Fireblade HRC WE, aerodynamic performance is enhanced further through a number of exclusive Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) components. These include Carbon Fibre Front Winglets and Rear Ducts, developed to suppress front-wheel lift under acceleration while increasing downforce during cornering. The HRC WE also features a Carbon Fibre Aero Front Fender, which works in conjunction with the lower cowl sidepods to reduce aerodynamic drag while contributing to cornering performance.

A redesigned LED headlight incorporates Daytime Running Lights (DRL) and is designed as a single removable unit for racing applications. It is matched by a compact, lightweight LED taillight.

Advances in titanium forming and paint technology have allowed removal of the fuel tank’s external plastic cover, reducing weight by 1.4kg while maintaining the 16.6-litre fuel capacity. The tank on the Fireblade SP is painted only with clear coat, to expose the brushed titanium to view.

Rider interaction is managed through a high-resolution, full-colour 5-inch TFT display. Fully customisable, it allows key information to be configured according to rider preference. A compact left-hand switch cluster incorporates a four-way controller, enabling intuitive adjustment of riding modes and display functions, while the CBR logo is displayed at start-up for the SP, whilst the HRC WE features a bespoke HRC logo during the start-up process.

To protect the engine during warm-up, maximum engine speed is initially limited to 8,000rpm. As coolant temperature approaches its operating range, the available rev limit increases to over 14,500rpm.

Honda’s SMART Key system provides keyless operation of both the ignition and steering lock. It also allows the use of a competition-style top yoke while maximising available space for the ram-air intake system.

In support of Honda’s goal of achieving zero environmental impact by 2050 through Carbon Neutrality, Resource Circulation and Clean Energy initiatives, the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP incorporates a range of sustainable materials, including Post-Industrial Recycled polypropylene and polyamide (PIR PP and PIR PA), Post-Consumer Recycled polypropylene (PCR PP) and DurabioTM in selected components.

The Fireblade SP’s 1,000cc inline DOHC four-cylinder semi-cam gear engine remains one of the defining elements of the machine. For 27YM, peak output is maintained at 160kW at 14,000rpm, with maximum torque of 114Nm at 10,500rpm. Development has instead focused on strengthening mid-range performance, improving rideability and reducing overall engine mass to complement the capability of the new chassis.

A comprehensive weight-reduction programme contributes to this objective. The crankcases have been lightened, while magnesium now replaces aluminium for the cylinder head cover, the right crankcase cover, the clutch cover, the ACG cover, and the oil pan. Thirty-five aluminium fasteners replace previous steel items, saving a further 215g. Collectively, these measures reduce engine mass by 1,099g, excluding the reduction achieved through the lighter crankcases.

Bore and stroke dimensions remain unchanged at 81mm × 48.5mm, preserving the engine’s highly oversquare layout. Compression ratio increases from 13.6:1 to 13.8:1 through more precise manufacturing processes. Both piston crowns and combustion chambers are now machined to tighter tolerances, contributing to improved combustion efficiency and stronger mid-range output.

The semi-cam gear train valve system remains a key element of the Fireblade SP’s high-rpm capability. Inlet valves measure 32.5mm, with 28.5mm exhaust valves operated by finger-follower rocker arms. A compact 9° intake valve angle reduces combustion chamber surface area and improves combustion efficiency. Camshaft drive is transmitted from the crankshaft timing gear through an intermediate cam-idler gear, allowing a shorter cam chain and supporting high-rpm durability.

For 27YM, cam timing has been revised and an all-new cam sprocket design increases the available range of valve timing adjustment**. The valve train, including the valve springs, has also been upgraded to enhance durability under sustained high-performance operation.

Forged TI-64A titanium connecting rods and rod caps reduce weight by 50% compared to equivalent chromium-molybdenum steel components. They are secured by HB149 chromium-molybdenum-vanadium steel bolts without the use of fastening nuts. As with the RC213V-S, DLC coating is applied to the big-end bearing surfaces, while the small-end bushes are manufactured from shaved C1720-HT beryllium copper to ensure reliability at high engine speeds.

To reduce cylinder bore distortion and minimise friction, the engine employs a built-in bottom-bypass cooling system. Coolant circulates through the primary water jacket while the lower cylinder areas remain uncooled, creating a more consistent temperature distribution throughout the bores and improving mechanical efficiency.

Additional measures support durability at sustained high engine speeds. The piston skirts utilise an Ober coating containing Teflon and molybdenum, while the piston-pin clip grooves receive nickel-phosphorous plating. Multi-point piston oil jets direct cooling oil onto the pistons throughout the operating cycle. At lower engine speeds, integrated check balls restrict oil flow when cooling demand is reduced, lowering oil-pressure losses and reducing friction. For 27YM, the design of the internal oil strainer has also been revised to minimise oil aeration.

Air is supplied via a ram-air intake positioned in the high-pressure area at the front of the fairing. Pressurised air passes directly through the headstock and around the steering stem before entering the airbox, helping maintain performance across a wide speed range.

New for 27YM is a 2-stage Variable Air Funnel system, the first application of the technology on a Honda mass-production motorcycle. Below 11,750rpm the funnels operate in their longer position to optimise intake efficiency and strengthen mid-range performance. Above 11,750rpm they transition to a shorter configuration, promoting high-velocity airflow and maintaining peak power at high engine speeds.

The 2-Motor Throttle By Wire (TBW) system continues to employ separate actuator motors for cylinders one and two, and cylinders three and four. At smaller throttle openings, the first pair of throttle valves opens independently to provide finer control of torque delivery and improve low- and mid-range manageability. As engine speed rises, all four throttles operate together to deliver maximum performance. Throttle body diameter remains 52mm.

The system also delivers enhanced engine-braking control. During deceleration with the throttle fully closed, cylinders three and four are managed independently to increase pumping losses and strengthen engine braking, while cylinders one and two remain closed to allow a smoother transition back to acceleration.

To minimise engine width, the starter motor acts through the clutch main shaft rather than directly through the crankshaft. This arrangement allows a more compact crankshaft design, while shared use of the primary driven gear helps reduce packaging requirements. As part of the chassis structure, the rear of the engine also serves as the upper mounting point for the rear suspension system.

For 27YM, the distance between the mainshaft and countershaft increases by 3mm to 68mm. The additional spacing expands available transmission ratio options, allowing gearing to be optimised for a wider range of racing applications. First gear is also five per cent taller, improving launch characteristics and broadening setup flexibility for different circuit layouts.

The four exhaust downpipes utilise an oval cross-section design and are matched to a lightweight titanium Akrapovič muffler. Its compact dimensions support mass centralisation while also maximising available right-hand lean angle.

The Fireblade SP’s electronic control package combines Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), 2-Motor Throttle By Wire (TBW) and six-axis IMU technology to deliver precise management of engine performance and rear tyre grip. Developed using extensive global feedback, including input from HRC riders, the system has been recalibrated for 27YM to match the engine’s revised output characteristics and the capability of the new chassis.

Three default riding modes provide a range of performance settings, with the rider able to further tailor system intervention and engine response to suit conditions and preference. All parameters have been revised for 27YM.

Power (P) offers five levels of adjustment, with Level 1 delivering maximum engine performance. Engine Brake (EB) provides three levels of adjustment, with Level 1 delivering the strongest engine-braking effect through the 2-Motor TBW system. Wheelie Control (W) offers three levels of intervention, plus Off, with Level 1 allowing the greatest degree of front-wheel lift before intervention.

Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) operates across nine levels and works in conjunction with the 2-Motor TBW system to provide smooth, intuitive management of rear-wheel traction. By continuously monitoring machine attitude and wheel-speed information, the system maintains drive while delivering predictable intervention when available grip changes.

Wheelie Control uses data supplied by the six-axis IMU, together with front and rear wheel-speed sensors, to manage front-wheel lift while maintaining acceleration performance. The system is designed to preserve forward drive rather than simply suppress wheelies, ensuring efficient use of available grip.

The Fireblade SP is also equipped with Start Mode for race starts. Four engine speed limits, 6,000, 7,000, 8,000 and 9,000rpm, can be selected, allowing the rider to hold the throttle fully open while concentrating solely on clutch release and launch execution.

The CBR1000RR-R Fireblade HRC WE is a dedicated race-focused derivative, developed as the foundation for competition at the highest level. While it incorporates the same engine and chassis developments introduced for 27YM, its specification prioritises circuit performance above all else, employing specialised materials, manufacturing techniques and adjustability beyond what is practical for a mass-production road motorcycle.

A key element of this approach is increased chassis setup flexibility. Rake can be adjusted using upper and lower steering stem collars, allowing steering characteristics to be tailored to circuit layout, tyre selection and rider preference. The swingarm pivot position is also adjustable, enabling fine tuning of anti-squat and anti-lift characteristics during acceleration and deceleration***.

Suspension is provided by fully mechanical Öhlins race-developed components comprising NPX28-30 USD front forks and a TTX36 rear shock. Braking performance is enhanced by Brembo Hypure Sports four-piston radial-mount front calipers, which save 32g compared to the previous Stylema design while delivering increased braking performance and consistency under race conditions. Wet weight is 201kg for the SP, and 200kg for the HRC-WE.

The HRC-WE’s competition focus can be furthered via the addition of optional HRC race components, which include a bottom-neutral shift pattern designed to eliminate the possibility of accidentally selecting neutral between first and second gear under race conditions. Neutral can only be engaged when the inhibitor lock is released.

Aerodynamic performance has been developed with equal focus. The Fireblade HRC WE adopts a range of exclusive Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) components designed through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), wind tunnel evaluation and circuit testing.

At the front, CFRP dual-element winglets generate significantly higher aerodynamic load than the previous design. The upper wing surface area is 2.4 times larger than before, while optimisation of wing angle, area and placement improves front-end stability during acceleration and corner exit. At 299km/h, the winglets generate 3.5 times more downforce than the standard 27YM CBR1000RR-R Fireblade.

The aerodynamic package works as a complete system. CFRP rear seat ducts contribute to overall aerodynamic efficiency, while the CFRP front mudguard has been specifically shaped to maximise the effectiveness of the Lower Cowl Aerodynamic Sidepods. Working together, these components improve aerodynamic stability, reduce drag and enhance cornering performance.

A single-seat configuration is fitted as standard, with pillion footpegs and hangers removed to reinforce the motorcycle’s competition-focused intent.

5. Accessories

A full range of Genuine Honda Accessories are available for the 27YM CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP and HRC Work Edition type, which allows owners to tailor the Fireblade’s performance, protection, convenience and appearance. 

Functional upgrades include a smoked windscreen, USB Type-C socket and attachment kit, frame guards, centre and side tank pads, a sport main seat* and an indoor body cover.

Styling options comprise colour-matching seat cowls in Ignition Red for the HRC Work Edition and for the SP type it’s also available in Matte Ballistic Black Metallic, wheel stripes in grey or red, plus mirror-hole and number-plate-hole covers for a clean, purposeful finish. 

For even further personalisation, customers can also choose a sprocket protector and oil filler cap.
