MotoGP: Jerez Test round up: Aprilia lead Ducati on Monday

MotoGP: Ai Ogura edged out teammate Raul Fernandez for Monday testing honours whilst breakthroughs were found behind.

After a memorable Spanish GP, it was back to the grind on Monday for MotoGP – with the field heading out for a one-day test at the same Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto. There was much to see at Ducati as the Borgo Panigale factory look to strengthen their fight back against Aprilia but there were a few things on show up and down pitlane. And there was an Aprilia 1-2-3 at the top.

By the end of action, Ai Ogura was fastest with a 1’35.944 to lead a Trackhouse MotoGP Team 1-2 after deposing teammate Raul Fernandez by just 0.005s. World Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) was third ahead of Marc Marquez, back on track with the Ducati Lenovo Team after his Sunday crash, after the reigning World Champion was shuffled back courtesy of the Japanese star’s late lap.

Fernandez set his best fairly late on to top the timesheets, but Ogura had one last fast one in the locker to make it a 1-2 for the team with Fernandez second. Ahead of the test day, both had stated the need to work on one-lap pace and with the strong showing they put in, the proof was in the pudding. Positive by the end of play but keeping their feet on the ground, it’s a strong way to sign off from Jerez, with their new-found speed to be confirmed in Le Mans.

At the factory Aprilia Racing team, Bezzecchi pipped Marc Marquez by 0.005s to take third spot overall and an Aprilia lockout in the top three, although the #72 also suffered a fast crash at Turn 11, rider OK. A new front fairing was on show for the Noale factory, as well as a few things team boss Paolo Bonora said weren’t “visible.” On Jorge Martin’s side of the box, it was setup and the ergonomics as the main focus; he ended the test in P10 and was beaming about the progress made.

Ducati Lenovo Team, BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP, Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team
Down at Ducati, there was new front aero, a side aero fairing they already tested in preseason, a swingarm cover and modified chassis. Marc Marquez, who ended the test in fourth, said he was working on the chassis, with some modifications there, and some “interesting things”. The focus was on trying to get back the front feeling – the key challenge in 2026. The aero was also cited as helpful in “some areas”. Vague as ever when testing but nonetheless a step forward! Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) took P6, the GP winner the only rider who didn’t better his time in the afternoon.

Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) took P8, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) P10, Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) P18 – ending his day early after an intense weekend of Grand Prix action seemed to take its toll on his recovering femur – and Franky Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) P19 and likewise feeling a bit under the weather come the end of it all.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, Red Bull KTM Tech3
Pedro Acosta led the way for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing in P5 in terms of positions, and had some aero to try. In terms of new things to test, MotoGP Hall of Famer and test rider Dani Pedrosa was out getting the laps in across a busy day too. At Red Bull KTM Tech3, Enea Bastianini was also trying out new parts for the Austrian factory as he flew solo for the French team and ended the day in P12. Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was P16 by the end of play.

Honda HRC Castrol, Castrol Honda LCR, Pro Honda LCR
Honda had a low-key day on the timesheets, focusing elsewhere and, outwardly, on their current package. The top Honda was veteran Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) in P9 after a strong weekend, with rookie teammate Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) in P13 – encouraging after a tougher weekend for him. Moreira was the first faller of the test during the morning but he was all OK. Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol) was right on Moreira’s tail in P14, 0.018 further back, with teammate Joan Mir just 0.081s behind in what was a tight trio.

Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP
In Yamaha blue, work continued in developing the V4-powered package as well as other small updates. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) was able to instantly lap quicker than the fastest lap of his Grand Prix in the morning before knocking three tenths off his weekend’s best in the afternoon. Top Yamaha and in P7, Quartararo can leave Jerez on a positive note ahead of his home Grand Prix at Le Mans in two weekend’s time. On the other side of the box, Alex Rins was a second off his teammate’s time and took P22, electing to finish early.

There was plenty of working going in the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP outfit too with Jack Miller leaving Jerez with the upper-hand in that camp. He worked on trying to improve the front feeling of his machine and also had some small items to try. Teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu had a crash at Turn 3 in the morning but was otherwise OK as he continued to try and adapt his riding style. Electronic work to improve engine braking was on his agenda, whilst both bikes were spotted with the rear side aero that their Monster Energy counterparts used in the weekend. 17th for Miller, 21st for Razgatlioglu, Le Mans is their next destination. Despite being on the initial entry list, test rider Augusto Fernandez didn’t head out.

Motorcycles, music and Italian sunshine: Harley-Davidson shares more details of the European spring rally.

Harley-Davidson^® has confirmed further details of the first ever European Spring Rally, taking place from April 30 to May 3, 2026, in Senigallia, Italy. Building on the success of the 2024 European H.O.G.^® Rally, the new event launches as the official season opener for riders across Europe, bringing motorcycles, live entertainment, and Harley-Davidson spirit to Italy’s Adriatic coast.

Live Music Takes the Spotlight
Live music will take centre stage in Senigallia, as Harley-Davidson confirms a powerful, multi night programme of free live entertainment at the heart of the rally. Thursday night opens with London based trio The Molotovs, whose high octane mix of mod, rock and punk has taken them from guerrilla street performances to sharing stages with the Sex Pistols, Blondie and The Libertines, with Senigallia marking one of the first stops on their 2026 headline tour. They’ll be joined by Italian guitar virtuoso Giuseppe Scarpato and his Hillside Power Trio, delivering an explosive instrumental sound blending rock, jazz, blues and modern fusion.

Friday’s lineup brings international blues rock favourites Black River Delta from Sweden, alongside genre spanning Italian artist Fede Marka, before Mike Terrana & The Ympossible, a newly formed supergroup of rock, blues and metal veterans, take the stage ahead of their upcoming European and U.S. tours.

Saturday night celebrates rock in all its forms, featuring Rome born powerhouse vocalist Angelica Bove, Italian indie rock favourites The Peawees, and a performance from Alteria, one of the most iconic voices in the Italian rock scene.

The weekend will also showcase the winners of the recent Harley-Davidson Music Contest, bringing live music to the stage throughout the event. Kicking things off on Thursday are German winners Mad Guz and the Mojos, followed by Spain’s The Surroyal on Friday, before Italian winners Known Physics close out the celebrations with a performance on Saturday night.

Completing the programme, DJ Ringo and Toky from Virgin Radio will keep the energy high each night with a festival wide soundtrack worthy of the Harley Davidson spirit.

A Proven Rally Destination
Located near Ancona and within easy reach of Bologna and Venice, Senigallia previously hosted the 30th European H.O.G.^® Rally in 2024, where its historic riverside old town, lively piazzas, and welcoming local community proved an ideal setting. In 2026, the town will once again host a free, open to all celebration of moto culture, welcoming riders, locals, and visitors alike.

Motorcycles at the Heart of the Event
Central to the rally will be the Harley-Davidson Expo, showcasing highlights from the 2026 motorcycle lineup. Headlining the display are the Street Glide^® Limited and Road Glide^®Limited, representing a significant evolution of the Grand American Touring platform and designed for riders who demand long distance comfort and premium performance. Also on display will be the Pan America^® 1250 Limited, equipped with factory installed accessories and engineered for serious adventure riding.

Beyond motorcycles, visitors will enjoy outstanding Italian cuisine, local shopping, cultural experiences, and brand partnerships throughout the historic town centre, helping to create a vibrant festival atmosphere across the weekend.

Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Extends Southern 100 Headline Sponsorship to 2028

The Southern 100 Road Races are delighted to confirm that the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company (IOMSPC) has extended its commitment as Headline Sponsor with a new three-year agreement, securing their support through to 2028.

This latest agreement marks another significant chapter in a partnership that has spanned nearly four decades. Since first coming on board as a Race Sponsor in 1987 and later becoming Title Sponsor in 1999, IOMSPC has played a vital role in the continued success and growth of the Southern 100.

Their contribution goes far beyond sponsorship alone. The IOMSPC continues to provide invaluable logistical support, including the transportation of essential safety equipment and infrastructure, alongside offering preferential ferry travel arrangements for marshals and competitors.

As part of the renewed agreement, further enhancements will be introduced, including the provision of a new podium and sponsorship of the pole protectors around the Motor Isle Billown Course.

The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company also continues to support the event through its travel offering with a range of Southern 100 travel packages available via Steam Packet Holidays, alongside ferry-only options for visitors wishing to experience the races. The reintroduction of a dedicated day trip in recent years has also proven increasingly popular, continuing to grow year on year.

Southern 100 Launch

The seemingly endless winter of discontent officially reached its end with the Media Launch for this year’s Pre-TT Classic and Southern 100 Races at the Castletown Civic Centre.

The event was a few weeks later than is usual; this may have contributed to their being some absentees. The most notable of those absentees was Davey Todd; the Solo Champion; he is in Europe progressing his recouperation from his big accident at Daytona.

The Sidecar Champions, Ryan and Callum Crowe were there and detailed how the new regulations are causing major headaches and increased costs. The main effect of the changes is to add about 3% to lap times. They will be back to defend their title in July and being lap record holders will start as favourites.

The programme of races is well established for both the Pre-TT Classic and Southern 100 itself; the only minor tweak; announced by Phil Taubman, is the introduction of a Wednesday morning practice session of 2 hours. This will not be used if sufficient laps have been completed on Monday and Tuesday. Essentially aimed to benefit the newcomers, this is a sensible innovation.

The main items of news on the rider front was the comeback to Billown of Conor Cummins. He last rode in 2014; but was injured when T-boned in a multi-bike incident at Ballakeighan. Now that he is running his own team, he feels that the time is right to reacquaint himself with an old friend. With backing from the IOM Steam Packet, he will be well equipped to challenge for podium finishes. Conor has 11 podium finishes to his name in the S100 itself and won the 1000cc Race at the 2007 Post-TT meeting (shame that meeting has been sacrificed to accommodate extra TT races). The other big story announced is that young star Franco Bourne has moved to road racing under the guidance of 5 times S100 Champion and record Billown winner; Ian Lougher. It was also let slip that Franco will be making his TT debut this year. A treble at Scarborough; including beating Richard Cooper; shows that he has the talent to succeed; we wish him well.

Some local star riders outlined their plans for the season; Mikey Evans remains with Dafabet Racing; he will be a podium prospect at both the TT and S100. Paul Cassidy has new sponsors and has moved to Ducati power. If he can tailor the bikes to suit his stature, he will be at the sharp end of matters in his chosen meetings. Grant Thompson, on his debut, won 2 races at the Pre-TT Meeting last year and will be looking to add to his tally of wins from his array of rides. Given his rate of progress; he will be looking to be in the top 6 at the S100; with a podium finish not out of the equation. He will be making his TT debut this year and bringing a Superbike to the NW200 for the first time. Sam Naughton; not interested in the bikes as a youngster; will have Triumph power for his rides in the Supersport. It will be interesting to chart the progress of the talented rider this year.

This year, circuit sponsors, Motor Isle will increase their coverage to include the solos; whilst ITV 4 will have two programmes; rather than the one of last year. Greenlight will provide the content for ITV; they will have extra drone and static camera coverage; aided by Starlink technology.

The Steam Packet trialled a day trip on Championship Day last year. Its success has seen it retained; with many of last year’s day trippers now booked for a mini-break covering the entire meeting. The company has signed up for another 3 years as headline sponsor for the Southern 100 Races.

The loyal band of sponsors remains in situ; Blackfords; the headline sponsors for the Pre-TT Meeting; completing a quarter century of support. The retention of sponsors speaks volumes for the organising committee of these two wonderful race meetings.

MotoGP: Alex Marquez keeps Bezzecchi at bay for victory as Marc Marquez crashes in Jerez

MotoGP: It’s back-to-back Spanish GP wins for the #73 on home turf as early drama unravels for the reigning World Champion

Back-to-back MotoGP victories at your home Grand Prix are what dreams are made of, and Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) has achieved just that after the #73 rolled out a stunner in a dramatic 2026 Estrella Galicia 0,0 Grand Prix of Spain that saw Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) crash out of second place on Lap 2. Marco Bezzecchi’s (Aprilia Racing) record-breaking victory run is now over, but the Italian’s P2 is another fantastic result for the championship leader as compatriot Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) earned P3 to jump up to third in the standings.

OPENING LAPS: MM93 OUT EARLY
Marc Marquez got away from pole perfectly and grabbed the holeshot with both arms as the field dived into Turn 1, with Bezzecchi getting a stormer – unlike in the Sprint – from the second row to jump to P2. And Alex Marquez got a corker too. The 2025 Spanish GP winner was P3, then P2 behind Marc Marquez after the Gresini Racing star shoved his way past the Championship leader at Turn 9.

Alex Marquez didn’t wait long to pounce on Marc Marquez either. Turn 6, the Dani Pedrosa Corner, saw the #73 shove his way past the reigning World Champion. Now, could Marc Marquez respond?

Well, we found out the answer very quickly. Huge drama unfolded for the #93 on Lap 2 as Marc Marquez crashed out at the rapid right-hand turn of 11. The front-end washed away, and there was no chance of saving that one, as the home-crowd hero suffered a very early DNF in Jerez for the second year running. Thankfully, the Spaniard was up on his feet and OK, but that’s another early dent to the Champion’s title charge.

ALEX MARQUEZ STRETCHES HIS LEGS, ACOSTA LOSES GROUND
Back on track, Alex Marquez was lapping 0.6s ahead of Bezzecchi, as we jumped on board with Di Giannantonio as he passed Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) for P3 on Lap 5. At this stage of the Grand Prix, Diggia was a second behind compatriot Bezzecchi.

A small but costly mistake from Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) at the start of Lap 6 saw the Spaniard slip to P9 from P7 following contact with Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team), leaving the #37 one place ahead of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) and without some front-end aero. That was then one place behind Pecco, as the Italian made a move stick on the KTM rider at the final corner.

Up front, Alex Marquez was beginning to stretch his legs. At the start of Lap 10, his lead 1.6s over Bezzecchi, who in turn had Di Giannantonio lingering 0.6s behind. Martin remained well within reach of the podium battle too; the 2024 MotoGP World Champion was a further 0.6s back in P4, with Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) a second back from the second Aprilia in P5.

PECCO DNFs
At the start of Lap 12, misery was compounded in the factory Ducati box. Pecco encountered some form of problem with his Desmosedici, and the sight of the #63 pulling into the pitlane signalled a nightmare Sunday in Jerez for the top two in the Tissot Sprint.

CONTROLLING IT TO THE FLAG
While there was disappointment in the red corner of Ducati, there was pending delight in the blue corner. Alex Marquez’s lead was now just under two seconds at the end of Lap 15 of 25, with Di Giannantonio 0.9s away from second place Bezzecchi.

With six laps left, it was as you were at the front. Alex Marquez was controlling the gap back to Bezzecchi, and the same can be said for the title race leader in his attempts to keep Di Giannantonio at bay.

While the podium positions were looking settled, the battle for the top six wasn’t. And Zarco, with three laps to go, got a face full of Trackhouse – first from Fernandez, then from Ai Ogura. Two classy moves pulled on the impressive Frenchman.

10 seconds up the road from that particular fight, Alex Marquez had 4.4km left to arrive at the chequered flag as a Spanish GP winner for the second year in a row. A wave to the jubilant, packed hillsides through Turns 9 and 10 capped off a phenomenal Sunday for the recently turned 30-year-old, as Alex Marquez clinched a dream Jerez win again.

This time, it was Bezzecchi who finished P2 to Alex Marquez. The unbeaten Sunday run ends, but that’s another brilliant result for the Italian and Aprilia. A treasured 20 points means Bez’s lead in the championship extends to 11 over fourth place Martin, and sandwiched between the Aprilia duo was the in-form Di Giannantonio, who bagged a second podium of the season. That moves the Italian up to P3 in the World Championship, with Martin 19 points clear in P2 after another great weekend.

The winner of that P5 battle we mentioned? Ogura. The Japanese rider shoved past his teammate at Turn 6 on the final lap to pick up 11 points, with Fernandez P6 on home turf. Zarco’s strong weekend ended with a solid P7, as Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3) acted as the lead KTM rider on Sunday with a P8. Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) crossed the line in P9 as his recovery continues, and a frustrated Acosta had to settle for P10. Not what the #37 had ordered.

Acosta’s teammate Brad Binder was one place and 0.3s behind in P11, with Sprint podium finisher Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol), Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), and Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) – after a double Long Lap penalty for the 2020 World Champion – closed out the points-paying positions.

We’re never short of drama and talking points in MotoGP, are we? Ducati’s dry spell ends thanks to Alex Marquez’s heroics, but it’s a bittersweet Sunday for the factory after Marc Marquez loses more crucial ground in the championship chase to Bezzecchi and Aprilia.

Moto2: Agius fends off Gonzalez and Veijer to clinch back-to-back wins

Moto2: Back-to-back wins for the first time? That’ll do very nicely for Spanish GP winner Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) after a tense, three-way fight for the win.

World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez handed the team a dream 1-2 as the Spaniard stands on the Jerez rostrum for the second year in a row, as polesitter Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) earns his first podium of 2026 in P3.

The holeshot went the way of 2025 Spanish GP winner Gonzalez, but Veijer didn’t hang around long and attacked to take the lead at Turn 6. David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) got a horrible getaway and went from the second row to P17 on Lap 1, with Austin winner Agius climbing to an early P2.

Alonso moved up to P11 by the end of Lap 1, and another rider moving up the order was Barry Baltus (REDS Fantic Racing). Having got past front row starter Alex Escrig (KLINT Factory Team), the Belgian was P5 behind Veijer, Agius, Gonzalez, and Alonso Lopez (ITALJET Grresini Moto2), with Alonso P8 at the end of Lap 4.

Lap 5 saw the lead change hands four times as Agius and Veijer engaged in battle, and up at Turn 1 on Lap 6, there was contact between Alonso, teammate Daniel Holgado, and Escrig in the scrap for sixth. That cost the Colombian four places, with the #80 and Holgado now P10 and P9.

More drama then arrived. Baltus, one of the pre-race favourites, crashed out while sitting in P4 at Turn 6, and then the rider who was promoted to P4, Lopez, crashed moments later. Surely now, it was a three-rider fight for the win. Veijer, Agius and Gonzalez were locked together, four seconds up the road from Escrig.

On Lap 14, a big move came for Agius at Turn 8. The Australian carved up the inside of the Dutchman for the lead, and a corner later, home hero Gonzalez demoted Veijer to P3. Was that the race-winning move for Agius?

Having led for a few laps, Agius couldn’t fully shake off the Gonzalez and Veijer threat. At the beginning of Lap 19 of 21, Agius’ advantage was just under three tenths, with Veijer a further 0.4s in arrears, and heading onto the final lap, it was pretty much as you were.

Could Gonzalez reel in his teammate, and did Veijer have anything left? The answer was no. Agius had threatened to do this all weekend, and for the first time in Moto2, the Australian secured back-to-back victories. Gonzalez and Veijer completed the podium, with that P2 seeing the Spaniard hold onto the championship lead.

Alonso rolled out some magnificent pace to finish just two seconds off the win in P4, with the Colombian ruing his awful start to the Grand Prix, and the contact with Escrig and Holgado. Celestino Vietti (Beta Tools SpeedRS Team) also unravelled a great race to finish P5, with Daniel Muñoz (Italtrans Racing Team) completing the top six.

Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) came from P12 on the grid to finish P7, with Agius jumping ahead of the Spaniard into P2 in the standings.

Tony Arbolino (REDS Fantic Racing), Escrig and Ivan Ortola (QJMOTOR – GALFER – MSI) rounded out the top 10 ahead of eleventh place Holgado, who slips to P5 in the title race. Ayumu Sasaki (Momoven Idrofoglia RW Racing Team), Deniz Öncü (ELF Marc VDS Racing Team), Filip Salač, and the Czech’s OnlyFans American Racing teammate Joe Roberts were the final points scorers in Jerez.

Moto3: Quiles pulls the pin for home glory, last corner showdown for P2

The #28 had to fight hard before pulling clear in the closing stages, whilst the fight for second saw rivals Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) and David Muñoz (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) go head-to-head on the final lap, eventually going to the #31 ahead of his returning compatriot.

Sweeping into the holeshot, David Muñoz hit the front but it didn’t last long as Quiles grabbed the lead back at Turn 8 to lead the opening lap. Disaster before the opening lap even started for Leo Rammerstorfer (SIC58 Squadra Corse) who couldn’t get off the line, whilst Matteo Bertelle’s (LEVELUP-MTA) best weekend of the year ended in the Turn 1 gravel.

On Lap 6, Muñoz’s early charge to Quiles saw him joined by Adrian Fernandez who forced his way into P2, whilst a lap later, he took over the lead from Quiles. Behind, Marco Morelli (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) chased in P4, having dropped Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and a big battle over fifth. Further down the order, COTA winner Guido Pini (Leopard Racing) crashed out and was followed a lap later by Nicola Carraro (Rivacold Snipers Team).

Heading onto Lap 15, Quiles hit the front again at Turn 1, taking over the reins of the Grand Prix whilst at Turn 6, Fernandez was shuffled back to third as Muñoz came on through. Quiles was pulling the pin, the #28 looking to establish his authority on the Grand Prix and instantly dropped the pace from mid-1’45s to high-1’44s. Muñoz was sticking with him whilst Fernandez was keeping in touch with both in P3.

However, with three laps to go, a mistake by Muñoz at Turn 1 saw him drop more than half a second back from Quiles, giving him an uphill struggle to try and get on terms with the Championship leader. A lap later and it was a battle for P2 with Fernandez and Muñoz now joined by Morelli, who had put in a mega performance.

Last lap time and it was an Aspar 1-2 with just 4.428km to go. Fernandez sat third with rival Muñoz climbing all over him but the scrap for the final podium positions was going to go until the last corner. An epic fight, that saw them swap paint at Turns 6, 8 and 9, entered the last sector and despite Muñoz’s best efforts at Turn 13, he was beaten in the drag race to the line by Fernandez who clinched second whilst Morelli was fourth. Up front, no catching Quiles who took a second win of 2026 in his first Grand Prix weekend at Jerez. A remarkable Grand Prix by all three as Spain locked out the podium at home.

Behind, Carpe took fifth ahead of Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) whilst Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech 3) was 7th, followed home by David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP), a season-best performance by Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) and Joel Esteban (LEVELUP-MTA) who completed the top ten.

Southern 100: The Manxman Returns

Southern 100 Road Races are delighted to announce that Manx star Conor Cummins will return to the Motor Isle Billown Course for this year’s Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races.

Cummins, one of the Isle of Man’s most celebrated road racers will make his highly anticipated comeback with his own team, Conrod Motorsport sponsored by Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

Cummins first made his Southern 100 debut in 2006 and became a familiar presence at Billown, competing annually through to 2014 with the exception of 2010 and 2013. He also featured in the Post TT Races in 2006 and 2007, claiming his sole Billown victory in the 1000cc race in 2007.

Over his Southern 100 career, Cummins has consistently demonstrated his competitiveness, achieving the following results:

2nd place – 4 times
3rd place – 11 times
4th place – 3 times
6th place – 2 times
7th place – 1 time
10th place – 1 time

Southern 100 Chairman George Peach welcomed the news of Cummins’ return:

“We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Conor back to the Southern 100. He’s a a rider of immense talent and determination. His return, especially with his own team is fantastic news for the event and the fans. It adds real excitement to this year’s Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Southern 100 Road Races.”

Speaking about his comeback, Cummins said:

“It just feels like the right time to come back to the Friendly Races. I’ve got some great memories from racing there over the years and am looking forward to returning now with my own team Conrod Motorsport sponsored by the headline sponsors of the meeting Isle of Man Steam Packet Company. I’m really looking forward to getting back out there.”

MotoGP: Crash, switch, win: Marc Marquez back on top in dramatic flag-to-flag Sprint

MotoGP: The weather plays havoc in Jerez but the home crowd get the result they came for as a crazy Tissot Sprint unfold.

We’ve checked the databases and every now and then, the wildest of history does indeed repeat itself – rarely does a rider crash and still come away with victory. Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team), just when you think he’s won in every kind of scenario, did just that to take Sprint honours at home in Jerez, with teammate Francesco Bagnaia in second – from P10 on the grid – and Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) – from P18 on the grid – joining the #93 on the podium. This is how it happened!

Marc Marquez got a great start from pole, with Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) remaining second as the shuffle began behind. Alex Marquez shot up into third place, with Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) in fourth and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) in fifth.

Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) got a shocker, seemingly with a tear off under the rear off the line, and plummeted down the order, facing a fight back from P16 as the battle at the front started to heat up. Marc Marquez was starting to build a gap but the chase was on. First, Martin attacked Alex Marquez but the #73 answered back at Turn 1, forcing Martin wide. The #89 sat up and looked down at a red-hot front disc too – having struggled to drop anchor.

Next, Alex Marquez was past Zarco. And with 10 to go, the grey overcast skies became drops of rain – with the white flag out, denoting riders can change bikes. We’ve seen it before in a Sprint but never so early in the lap count. This time, there was time to make it count – if it rained enough.

At that point however, it clearly wasn’t too damp – with Zarco and Diggia throwing down in an awesome duel for third. As the drops continued though, Diggia was able to get a grip on P3, with Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) stalking his way up into fourth.

That left Zarco with his hands full of KTMs. Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was first on the chase, with Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) for close company. After Acosta was denied by Zarco, Bastianini was able to profit and slip through – the Beast then on the tail of the Frenchman.

Meanwhile at the front, what had been a reasonable gap had been cut and cut until Alex Marquez’s Gresini was absolutely glued to Marc Marquez’s Ducati Lenovo machine in the lead. He shadowed him and looked tempted to make a move, dropped back a little, and then by 6 to go the attack came – the #73 was alongside and through at Turn 9, as Diggia homed in on both.

Drama hit quickly after that as the rain pelted down and the Sprint turned on its head. First Marc Marquez slid out at the final corner, just getting it wrong as the rain started to increase. But that would prove absolutely pivotal – with the #93 choosing to then pick it up and dive straight into the pitlane to switch bikes. The rest of the frontrunners continued – with Binder leading the group of those who dived into pitlane too.

That left Alex Marquez at the front leading Diggia, and Binder leading the chase of those who had switched – with only 4 laps to go. Was there enough time to make a switch of tyres count?

Suddenly, even more drama – this time for Alex Marquez. The #73 was down at the same corner his brother fell at in last year’s Grand Prix, the rain intensifying from a drizzle to a deluge, and it was suddenly absolutely sure – wets were needed. The rest headed for pitlane and Binder was net leader – until the South African suffered his own off too. As the shuffles continued, it was a red duo of Bagnaia and Marc Marquez thundering towards the race lead, passing a defenceless Fermin Aldeguer as the Gresini rider gambled to stay out on slicks.

Bagnaia led Marc Marquez as the rain came down, but the #93 struck for the lead not long after – from the front to the floor and back to the front. As high as P1 and as low as P17 before somehow finding his way back to the lead, it was a Sprint to remember for the #93 who was back on top ahead of his teammate Bagnaia, who, in turn, makes it back-to-back Sprint rostrums whilst unbelievably, having pitted in the first group, Morbidelli came home in third. Binder, despite his crash, still took fourth, which on any other day would’ve been the story.

‘Diggia’ was fifth ahead of Raul Fernandez, whilst Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) took Sprint points in seventh. Fellow countryman Zarco and Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol) were the last of the points finishers. And that’s only the half of it… check out the stories below to catch up on everything!

Moto2: Veijer clinches historic debut Moto2 pole

Moto2: For the first time since the 1991 Japanese GP, a Dutchman will line up on pole position in the Moto2 class after Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) stuck his Kalex-Triumph next to the P1 board in Saturday’s parc ferme in Jerez.

Veijer set a 1:39.101 in an incredibly competitive pole shootout which saw Alex Escrig (KLINT Racing Team) and championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) complete a front row split by just 0.095s.

Austin winner and Friday’s pacesetter Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) spearheads the second row in P4 having led for some of Q2, and joining the in-form Australian behind the front row are Alonso Lopez (ITALJET Gresini Moto2) and David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team), with the Colombian’s teammate Daniel Holgado lining up a place behind him in P7. Can the Aspar duo challenge for the victory from there?

Barry Baltus (REDS Fantic Racing) went into Q2 as one of the favourites for pole, but the Belgian couldn’t repeat his feat from Austin last time out – the #7 launches from P8. Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2), the rider second in the championship, qualified in P9 but with the three-place grid penalty added, the Spaniard has a tough task on Sunday from P12 on the grid.

A compelling grid then for the Moto2 Spanish Grand Prix.

Moto3: Quiles storms to home turf pole in Jerez

Moto3: Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) slammed in a 1:44.070 to pull an impressive 0.375 clear for pole position in Jerez, with conditions drying out by qualifying for Moto3 and the #28 proving unstoppable.

David Muñoz (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) takes second as he returns from injury and immediately makes a mark, with Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completing the top three and front row.

After wet conditions on Saturday morning, the lightweight class were able to enjoy a fully dry Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto, although the laptimes are split by some bigger gaps than usually seen in Moto3 as the field adapted. Quiles’ 1:44.070 is closer to the lap record – a 1:43.710 – than Muñoz is to the polesitter, and Carpe takes the front row by just over half a second off pole.

Row 2 is more home crowd heroes as Joel Esteban (LEVELUP- MTA) takes P4 ahead of rookie Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo), with Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) sixth – on exactly the same best laptime as Uriarte. Despite racing two different machines, both set a 1:45.049. Fernandez also crashed in Q2, losing the chance to improve further.

Joal Kelso (GRYD – MLav Racing), David Almansa (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) and Matteo Bertelle (LEVELUP – MTA) are on Row 3, with Malaysian Hakim Danish completing the top ten for AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSI.

Fernandez steals win from Bujosa in Red Bull Rookies Cup Jerez Race 1 classic last corner move

Red Bull Rookies Cup: A last corner thriller, as is so often the case in Jerez, saw 18-year-old David González elbowing past fellow Spaniard Fernando Bujosa and grabbing the advantage on the run into the final, tight left-hander.

16-year-old Bujosa had ridden a perfect race from his front row start, but González made a great jump from Row 3 to shadow him for 14 laps.

A cloudburst before the first Race of the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup season opener had the technical staff swapping wheels on the KTMs for Pirelli wets. It was clearly going to be a very tricky, drying race, but the Rookies responded brilliantly, and there was only a single faller.

1st – Beñat Fernandez (SPA)
“Well, I was feeling quite comfortable, and I didn’t want to overtake Bujosa. I was trying to let him do his pace, I was seeing that we were making a gap to the guys behind. I knew I was faster on the last part of the track, and I had the plan to pass him at the end. To overtake before the last corner, do a block pass, and go. Well, the plan was perfect.”

2nd – Fernando Bujosa (SPA)
“It’s my 1st race in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. P2. I’m very happy. I pushed all the race in the front. Well, I need to learn, because I broke the tyre, and Beñat was in behind, he was super chill. In the last lap, he had the advantage, a lot more tyre, and he passed me because he was smarter in this way.”

3rd – Kiattisak Singhapong (THA)
“When it was raining, I felt like, okay, today is my day. I have a lot of wet experience and am prepared for the rain even more than the dry. The tyres were good at the start and gave me a good feeling, but of course, the track was dry, damaging them, and then they were sliding. I concentrated on controlling myself and the bike.”

4th – David González (SPA)
“It was all about keeping the tyres working after about 4 laps. I was fighting in the last lap. I try to brake later for the last corner. I braked as late as I possibly could. When I tried to enter the corner, Singhapong pushed me a little wide. I tried to get back to get the drive and pass him in the straight, but I couldn’t get him before the line.

5th – Kerman Tinez (VEN)
“I am very happy because it’s my best result in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup. This preseason, I worked a lot to be ready for my second year in the Cup. The tyres were great early in the race, but as the track dried, they got quite destroyed, so they were sliding every time you accelerated, and it was very difficult.

MotoGP: Marc Marquez denies Zarco in damp pole shootout at Jerez

MotoGP: Spanish GP qualifying went to the wire – but it’s the home hero on top as the #93 takes a first pole of 2026

Making his mark on home turf, Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) was able to bag a first pole of the 2026 season, and first since Hungary 2025, in a classic head-to-head battle for qualifying supremacy in Jerez. Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) duelled him to the wire, only a tenth and a half back as the two carved out a league of their own in the damp. Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) continues his impressive run in qualifying to complete the front row as the first of those on the chase.

It was damp conditions as Q1 got underway at Jerez and instantly, it caught out big names. Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) was an early crasher before he was joined on that list by Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) who wasn’t able to set a lap time and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), the latter then also just missing the cut. With a good feel for the conditions, Zarco and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) graduated to join the Q2 pole battle and had the experience – and perhaps the advantage – of understanding the latest of the tricky conditions.

After a small delay to the session due to track conditions following Morbidelli’s smoking Ducati at the end of Q1, the riders hit the track, all out on wet tyres but a dry line was appearing. Halfway into the session and it was Marc Marquez who was leading the way but the same joy wasn’t reached for his brother Alex, who crashed at Turn 9 with seven minutes on the clock. Provisionally joining the #93 on the front row, whilst Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) was third but crashed at Turn 1 and was soon bumped down the order by a flying Zarco who went into P1.

Looking to take Honda’s first pole since 2023, Zarco’s hopes of a first pole in 4 years were dashed when Marc Marquez pulled out a mighty lap time to take a first pole position since the Hungarian GP last year. Zarco was pushing hard on the final lap but had to settle for P2 after a mistake in the final corner saw the Frenchman nearly lose the front. Rounding out the front row, Di Giannantonio, who despite being more than a second off, managed to sneak ahead of Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) who heads up the second row, ahead of Alex Marquez and Acosta.

A crash left Martin in the gravel and unable to improve on his lap time, rooting him to seventh and the third row, joined by Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech 3) who also fell, this time at Turn 8, and Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team), the third of the Aprilias. More qualifying struggles left double World Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) on the fourth row in P10, ahead of Ai Ogura (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) and Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) who suffered a second crash of the day – this time at Turn 8, having fallen at Turn 13 in FP2.

With the grid set, attention turns to the Tissot Sprint! Lights out at 15:00 Local Time (UTC +2), don’t miss it!

Indian Motorcycle Unveils Official Support for IBEX26, A Premium Costa Blanca Motorcycle Experience

Indian Motorcycle has announced official support for IBEX26: The Iberia Experience, a premium four-night experience on Spain’s Costa Blanca.

From the creators of the Indian Riders Fest, Legendary Productions, IBEX26 takes place from 30 September to 4 October 2026 and promises four nights at a privatised 4-star hotel, three days of routes curated by local riding experts, IMRG Alicante, and an immersive programme of Iberian culture and gastronomy.

Produced by Legendary Productions and officially supported by Indian Motorcycle, IBEX26 promises to be a unique experience for Indian Motorcycle riders and their passengers. Limited to just 220 guests, the all-inclusive event will be based at the Hotel Occidental Pueblo Acantilado in El Campello, Alicante, a 4-star cliffside property exclusively reserved for the duration of the event, styled like a whitewashed Iberian village and perched directly above the Mediterranean Sea.

“IBEX26 is everything the Indian Riders Fest taught us — and then a completely new conversation. We wanted to create something where the hotel, the roads, the food and the community are all equal parts of the experience. The Costa Blanca in October is one of the finest motorcycling environments in Europe, and with IMRG Alicante designing the routes, we are confident these will be roads our riders talk about for years,” commented Jean-Marie Guyon, Founder IBEX26 & Creator of Indian Riders Fest, Legendary Productions, Prague.

The riding programme draws on the deep local knowledge of IMRG Alicante, the Costa Blanca’s most active Indian Motorcycle Riders Group, which has contributed three signature routes along the best roads of the Costa Blanca. Route A (115 km) climbs into the Sierra de Aitana — mountain passes, ridge roads and the medieval village of Guadalest. Route B (140 km) explores the inland landscape through Xixona, Font Roja and the dramatic Xorret de Catí viewpoint. Route C (155 km) combines the culture of Alicante city — the Castillo de Santa Bárbara, the Explanada de España — with the colourful seafront of Villajoyosa and a stop at the Valor chocolate museum. GPX files, printed route sheets and daily rider briefings will be provided; guided group rides are optional.

Newbies steal the show in Red Bull Rookies Cup Jerez Qualifying

Red Bull Rookies Cup: Forget preseason favourites and predictions. First-time Rookies Carlos Cano and Fernando Bujosa headed Qualifying for the first Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup weekend of the year.

Joining the two 16-year-old Spaniards on the Jerez front row is French 16-year-old David Da Costa. He starts his second Cup season but missed more than half of 2025 through injury.

Just 1.080 seconds covers the KTMs from 1st to 23rd.

1st – Carlos Cano (Spain)
“I’m very happy with the feeling of the bike. I amazed that here we are ready to start the season. I didn’t think I would be on pole to start my first Cup season. I know the track, I have had good races here, but I didn’t have any expectations coming here for the Rookies Cup.”

2nd – Fernando Bujosa
“The first Qualifying of the year, P2. I’m very happy because I made my own pace. I’m very fast. I have my pace for tomorrow, and it will be fight racing, like always, and I’m super excited to start the season.”

3rd – David Da Costa (France)
“I’m so happy to be on the front row. It’s my 2nd year in the Rookies Cup. Last year was so difficult for me with the injury. But I trained very hard for this season, and now I start P3 tomorrow for the first race. It’s so good. I tried to keep pushing, now I will just enjoy the races.”

“I’m very happy today because I worked hard to improve at this track. Also, with the bike, at the start of the day, I struggled a bit, chattering in the front, but I talked to Aito (Aitor Lafoz, Suspension engineer). He sorted it out, so now I’m happy with it and ready to race.”

5th – Mateo Marulanda (Colombia)
“For me, it is so special to start the year because it is such an important race I was able to qualify 5th. It’s not a favourite track of mine, but I had high hopes coming here of getting in the top 10, so now it’s even better.”

MotoGP: Alex Marquez fastest on Friday as Acosta faces Q1 in Jerez

MotoGP: The 2025 Spanish GP winner sits three tenths clear of Di Giannantonio as a dramatic opening day unfolds in Andalusia

It’s been a tougher start to 2026 for Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) at times, but the #73’s Friday afternoon outing at the Estrella Galicia 0,0 Grand Prix of Spain saw him right back on top with some searing pace. The 2025 Spanish GP winner ended the opening day of MotoGP action in Jerez with a whopping 0.333s advantage over second fastest Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), thanks to Marquez’s rapid 1:35.704. World Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) completed the top three, while Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) faces Q1 for the first time this season in a session that unearthed plenty of talking points.

There was a slice of drama right from the off in MotoGP Practice after Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) slid down the road at Turn 1 on his first flying lap while shadowing 2025 Spanish GP winner Alex Marquez.

Not a start to the session the double MotoGP World Champion was after, but the same can’t be said for Di Giannantonio as the lead Ducati rider in the standings rose to an early P1, with Alex Marquez close behind – 0.046s to be exact.

Around the halfway stage, another MotoGP World Champion was in the gravel. This time, it was Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing). The notorious Jorge Lorenzo Corner, Turn 13, bit the rider second in the championship as the RS-GP front end washed away early from underneath the #89.

With 20 minutes to go, Di Giannantonio extended his narrow advantage to a much healthier 0.339s after the Italian slotted in some shiny new Michelin rubber, with a trio of HRC machines leaping into the top six having done the same. Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR), Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) and the #36’s teammate Luca Marini were P3, P4 and P6, with reigning World Champion Marc Marquez sitting P5.

Practice really kicked into gear with 13 minutes to go when Ai Ogura (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) and Bezzecchi forced their way into the top five, before Zarco, Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), and Marini shuffed the Aprilia pair back down the order.

Then, step up Alex Marquez. Two consecutive fastest laps of the session saw the 2025 runner-up land a 1:35.704, within a tenth of the all-time lap record, which moved the goalposts. The gap with nine minutes to go? 0.563s to Di Giannantonio.

Riders with work to do to wrestle their way into the top 10 included Acosta, who endured a huge moment down at Turn 6 while pushing behind teammate Brad Binder. The Spaniard was P15 with six minutes to go, with Pecco P13, and Martin P19.

With just under three minutes to go, we locked eyes on Pecco and Martin. The latter was shadowing his 2023 and 2024 title rival, and both improved their times. Considerably. Pecco went P3, while Martin pinched P5 before Bezzecchi shot up to P2, pushing Martin to P6.

This then left Marc Marquez down in P14, which became P15 when Acosta climbed the leaderboard – but only to P12. Shortly after, the #93 did lift himself into the top 10 with a time good enough for P3, but back to the Acosta watch, his final lap wasn’t enough. It was P15 for Acosta, and P16 for teammate Binder as the factory KTMs face Q1 on Saturday morning.

A dominant Alex Marquez is the rider to beat going into qualifying, with ‘Diggia’ and Bezzecchi sat inside the top three. Marc Marquez is 0.523s away from his younger brother in P4, and also lying half a second away from Friday’s pacesetter are Ogura, Bagnaia, Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team), Aldeguer, and Martin. The last of the automatic Q2 qualifiers? Enea Bastianini. The sole Red Bull KTM Tech3 rider on track this weekend gives the Austrian factory something to smile about at least.

MotoGP qualifying kicks off at 10:50 local time on Saturday morning in Jerez, with the Tissot Sprint alive at 15:00.

Moto2: Agius smashes lap record to front Friday

Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) is the rider to beat heading into Saturday’s action at the Spanish Grand Prix after the Austin race winner slammed in a new Jerez Moto2 lap record in Practice.

The Australian’s 1:38.973 was followed closely by Alonso Lopez’s (Italjet Gresini Moto2) best effort, the Spaniard sits 0.079s away from Agius after the opening day, with FP1 pacesetter Barry Baltus (REDS Fantic Racing) third quickest.

It was Baltus who topped the times in the early exchanges before Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) rose to P1 with what was briefly a new lap record, before Agius slotted in the fresh Pirelli rubber to move the goalposts in the closing stages. The #81 is the only rider to officially dip into the 1:38s in Jerez, and that time was only six tenths away from Alex Rins’ best lap in MotoGP FP1. Quite the performance.

It was the aforementioned Veijer who ended the session in P4 ahead of former World Championship leader Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team), with Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) leaving it very late to climb into the top 14.

The rider second in the title race finished ahead of Daniel Muñoz (Italtrans Racing Team) and Mario Aji (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia) in the top eight, with David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) P9 after the Colombian destroyed his Kalex-Triumph machine at Turn 13 in FP1.

World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) ended Friday in P10, 0.4s away from his teammate, so the Spaniard has work to do to bridge the gap over one lap ahead of qualifying on Saturday.

Moto3: Quiles blasts out the blocks on home turf

Moto3: Perfection was the order of the day for Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) as the 18-year-old led the charge on the opening day of his home Grand Prix.

P1 across both FP1 and Practice, the #28 has firmly laid down the gauntlet to the opposition ahead of Saturday’s qualifying sessions at Jerez.

Leading for the majority of the session, Quiles left it until late to assert his authority on Practice with a final flying lap seeing him complete a Friday clean sweep. David Muñoz (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) had a stellar return to action after missing the last two rounds, taking second and briefly leading the way a few minutes before the end of the session. A Spanish 1-2, Argentinean star Valentin Perrone (Red Bull KTM Tech3) got himself into the top three with an impressive lap, banishing any concerns he had after a difficult morning.

Behind the top three, it was a best Friday in more than a year for Matteo Bertelle (LEVELUP-MTA), with the Italian having been P2 in the morning before securing fourth and a Q2 spot in the afternoon. A welcome return for David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) saw him round out the top five despite pain following on from his recent elbow fracture. Top Honda honours saw Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) in sixth place, just 0.405s adrift of Quiles in P1. There’s also a strong presence of full-time rookies in Q2, with Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in P7, Adrian Cruces (CIP GreenPower) in P8, Marco Morelli (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) in P10, Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) in P11 and Rico Salmela (Red Bull KTM Tech 3) in P12.

Outside of the top 14 and needing to go through Q1 for a chance at pole, the most recent new Grand Prix winner Guido Pini (Leopard Racing) is a big headline, along with Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) and 2025 Spanish GP podium finisher Joel Kelso (GRYD – MLav Racing). Scott Ogden (CIP GreenPower) was a late crasher at Turn 9 but scraped through into Q2 in P14.

Bristol Bike Nights roar back into Fowlers on 1 May 2026, bringing with them the winning formula as well as Fowlers’ Centenary celebrations, giving you even more reasons to join in this time around.

Taking place on the first Friday of every month from May through to September, these much-loved gatherings have become a staple for riders across the South-West and beyond. Bikes and scooters of all shapes, styles, and sizes are welcome, and the event in Fowler’s large car park never fails to impress. New race-replica Thunder GP Aero carbon helmet celebrates Fermin Aldeguer’s impressive MotoGP debut season.

LS2 have introduced a new Fermin Aldeguer Replica graphic for their flagship Thunder GP Aero carbon helmet. Inspired by the livery worn by the Spanish Ducati rider throughout his impressive rookie MotoGP campaign in 2025, during which he finished eighth in the world championship, was crowned Rookie of the Year, and scooped second on the all-time youngest MotoGP winner list.

One of the most technically advanced helmets in the LS2 range, the Thunder GP Aero’s 6K carbon twill shell combines high penetration resistance and energy dispersion with an ultra-light construction; at just 1300 grams, it’s among the lightest full-carbon road helmets available.

Aerodynamically optimised and fitted with a Rear Racing Spoiler to keep the head stable at speed, it’s designed for stability, comfort and to reduce fatigue. It’s also produced in three outer shell sizes, ensuring the smallest, lightest possible fit across the range.

The 3D Optically Correct A-Class Polycarbonate visor sits in an ultra-wide aperture for maximum all-round vision, and uses a quick-release system derived from LS2’s race helmets for fast, tool-free removal. It’s tear-off prepared and supplied with a Pinlock® 120XLT MaxVision Anti-Fog System as standard. The Aldeguer Replica also includes a tinted race visor for use on circuits or sunny-day road rides.

Ventilation ports at the chin, forehead and crown feed air through internal EPS channelling and exhaust through large rear ports; each quick and easy to open and close to tailor airflow to the conditions.

The breathable, hypoallergenic comfort liner is removable and washable for year-round freshness. Combined with Laser-Cut Foam inserts, it delivers a snug and reassuring fit.

An Emergency Release System allows first responders to remove the cheek pads without disturbing the head and neck. Safe, secure fastening is provided by the Reinforced Chin Strap and proven Double D-Ring fastener.

For road use, the Thunder GP Aero is also compatible with LS2’s Spectrum Intercom system.

New Metzeler SPORTEC range: SPORTEC 01 for sporty road riding, SPORTEC 01 RS for track ambitions

The Metzeler brand expands its supersport range with the introduction of SPORTEC 01 and SPORTEC 01 RS, two tyres developed thanks to the know-how acquired in the Road Racing field, in particular in its participation in the Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy), and designed to interpret sportiness through different yet complementary philosophies. The result of a completely new project in terms of tread pattern, compounds and structure, the latest two additions to the SPORTEC range open a new chapter in the brand’s historic supersport family.

TWO PHILOSOPHIES OF SPORTINESS, A SINGLE DNA
The new SPORTEC 01 and SPORTEC 01 RS share the same Metzeler DNA but are aimed at different riders and uses.

SPORTEC 01 is designed for those seeking an extremely versatile sporty tyre, capable of offering high dry performance and benchmark wet behaviour, with precise, intuitive handling that is easy to use on the road in a variety of conditions.

SPORTEC 01 RS, on the other hand, represents the sportiest evolution of the range, developed for the most demanding riders who want maximum dry grip, steering precision and hard handling, with the option of track use while still retaining road approval.

TARGET MOTORCYCLES AND RIDERS
The targets also differ, both in terms of motorcycle models and the type of rider.

SPORTEC 01 is dedicated to sporty riders who use their bike mainly on the road and want high performance with confidence even in variable weather conditions. It is ideal for owners of supersport, naked and sport-oriented crossover bikes who enjoy dynamic riding on twisty roads and mountain passes, without giving up safety, stability and ease of use in everyday riding.

SPORTEC 01 RS is instead intended for experienced riders and enthusiasts of pure performance, typically owners of supersport, high-performance naked and hypernaked bikes who expect direct, racing-inspired feedback on the road and who also want to tackle track days with the same tyre, without having to transport the bike and change tyres at the circuit.

TREAD PATTERN: VERSATILITY VS EXTREME PERFORMANCE
Both tyres feature a unified tread pattern design for front and rear, a solution that ensures consistent motorcycle behaviour under braking and acceleration, providing coherent feedback and predictability.

The tread of SPORTEC 01 has been completely redesigned and evolved compared to the previous generation of Metzeler supersport tyres, with which it still shares the design inspired by the Greek letter π, a symbol of continuity and circular perfection. The aim is to promote water evacuation, improve directional stability and deliver effective performance from wet conditions through to sporty dry riding. The grooves work progressively as lean angle increases, offering quick warm-up, consistent grip and balanced behaviour.

On SPORTEC 01 RS, the same tread concept is taken to the extreme: the design is slicker and more compact, with an even lower void-to-rubber ratio under load thanks to the evolution of DYNATREAD technology.
This makes it possible to maximise the contact patch on dry surfaces and bring tyre behaviour closer to that of a slick tyre in the sportiest riding conditions.

COMPOUNDS: HIGH SILICA FOR CONTROL, RACING-DERIVED FOR MAXIMUM GRIP
SPORTEC 01 features a high-silica bi-compound architecture on both front and rear, designed to offer balanced performance across a wide temperature range:

Front with a more stable central zone for braking and more hysteretic shoulders for grip when leaning
Rear with a central band optimised for stability and mileage, and high-hysteresis shoulders for traction and acceleration

SPORTEC 01 RS uses an evolved bi-compound version with a sportier set-up:

Central zone in full silica for stability, control and road use
Shoulders with carbon black-based racing compounds, derived from Metzeler’s Road Racing experience and in particular the Isle of Man TT, optimised to deliver grip and stability when leaning, while maintaining an operating window suitable for road use and track days.
In the shoulder area, there is a racing-derived base layer, whose compound is softer than that of the compound in contact with the road:

– At the front, the base layer is made of full silica and covers both the tread band and the shoulders;
– At the rear, the base layer is made of carbon black and is present only on the shoulders.
The configuration is designed to offer fast warm-up, high grip and consistent feedback even under prolonged stress.

STRUCTURE: BALANCE OR MAXIMUM PRECISION
The structure of SPORTEC 01 is designed in a harmonised way between front and rear:

Front with a double rayon carcass and a 0° steel belt for stability under braking and directional precision
Rear with a single-ply rayon carcass and a 0° steel belt for support under acceleration, and a wide footprint

The result is predictable, consistent behaviour at every lean angle.

SPORTEC 01 RS introduces a completely evolved structure, with materials such as PET (with exception for the 200/60 size using rayon), designed to offer:

Stability at high speeds
Steering precision
Control in extreme riding conditions

The structure is optimised to maximise interaction with the racing compounds and exploit the potential of DYNATREAD technology.

THE PATENTED DYNATREAD TECHNOLOGY
At the heart of both tyres is DYNATREAD technology, a patented adaptive tread pattern system that enables the tyre to change its behaviour according to stresses, loads and the rider’s style.

During braking, acceleration and high-demand use, the tread grooves tend to close dynamically, increasing the footprint. This helps maximise rubber–asphalt contact when more grip is needed, while still ensuring effective water drainage in less demanding phases. The result is greater stability, especially in the most critical moments of sporty riding.

DYNATREAD also helps reduce the tyre’s mechanical and thermal stress, limiting overheating. For riders, the benefits of this technology are great control, confidence and usable performance. On the road, it improves safety and versatility, while on track, it ensures high grip, precision and consistent performance.

METZELER AND ROAD RACING
Metzeler boasts a long and established tradition in road racing, the most extreme and authentic form of road motorcycling. The brand has been a key player for years in some of the most iconic competitions, including the Isle of Man TT (for which Metzeler is the Official Tyre), the North West 200, the Ulster Grand Prix and the Macau GP. These races provide a unique proving ground for developing tyres capable of delivering grip, stability and reliability on uneven surfaces and at high speeds. Collaboration with some of the best road race specialists has contributed decisively to the technical evolution of Metzeler products. GBRacing: Two new 800cc Triumph models have been raking in press plaudits and awards over the last year — and both have been selling in strong numbers.

The Tiger Sport 800 and the Trident 800 offer very different riding experiences but the same thrilling performance from the shared 113bhp, 84nm three-cylinder engine.

Utilising crankcases from well-proven previous models, each of these new Triumph machines have been through the GBRacing workshop for rigorous testing and to ensure perfect fitment before final approval and sign-off.

These products are available direct from GBRacing or from authorised dealers now.

*Spindle protection and brake lever guards are currently in development for these models, so a full protection package is only weeks away.

Royal Enfield, the global leader in the mid-size motorcycle segment, today announced the new 2026 Guerrilla 450 APEX models for EMEA markets, a sharper, more focused expression of its street-performance roadster.

Built around the same visceral Sherpa engine, the APEX redefines intent through stance and control – featuring a lower, more committed riding posture, road-focused tyres, and design elements that amplify its corner-hungry character. Every element is tuned to reward rider input, making real-world streets feel faster, and more involving.

Highlights of Guerrilla 450 Apex variant:

Sportier riding position: Lowered and repositioned aluminium handlebars with a more forward-leaning riding triangle for a commanding, sport-focused stance.
New road-biased tyres: APEX variant features new, road-biased 17” Vredestein Centauro ST tyres, carrying a sporty DNA while offering enhanced grip on wet and low friction surfaces.
Updated ride modes: Refined Street and Sport ride modes with mode retention – allowing seamless switching and retaining the last selected mode across ignition cycles.
Sharper visual identity and aesthetics: New CTGs, APEX Red and APEX Black further enhance the range, bringing a sharper visual identity. Standard rim tapes, a sculpted rear seat cowl and a colour-coded front cowl add to the motorcycle’s sportier stance.
Additionally, a premium colour variant is available for the Guerrilla 450: Twilight Blue, alongside Shadow Ash.

Built on the iconic Sherpa platform and supported by a balanced steel twin spar frame, the 2026 Guerrilla 450 continues to deliver 40PS and 40Nm, offering strong, accessible performance across the rev range. Across its variants, the motorcycle emphasises stability under acceleration, agility in corners and confidence through changing road conditions.

All variants of the 2026 Guerrilla 450 are equipped with Royal Enfield’s Tripper Dash – a circular 4-inch TFT display with Google Maps-powered navigation and seamless smartphone connectivity – enhancing every ride with intuitive guidance, real-time ride insights, and providing a more connected, in-control riding experience.

Royal Enfield Guerrilla has partnered with Fairtex, the iconic Muay Thai brand, on a special collaboration rooted in discipline, precision, agility and controlled power – the traits of an urban fighter. The partnership introduces a limited-edition range of Fairtex x Guerrilla gear, including boxing gloves, Muay Thai shorts and a T-shirt, alongside a custom motorcycle based on the 2026 Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 APEX. Finished in collaboration colours with a raw, street-focused stance, the build reflects the focused aggression and athleticism shared by both brands.

The collaboration was unveiled at GRRR Nights X Underground festival in Guwahati, an event designed to showcase the motorcycle’s versatility and performance. Yuki Kunii to stand in for recovering Honda HRC rider Jake Dixon at Balaton Park

The Honda HRC team confirms that factory rider Jake Dixon will be replaced by Japanese Yuki Kunii during the fourth Superbike World Championship round, set to take place on 1-3 May at Balaton Park in Hungary.

Dixon sustained wrist fractures during the final pre-season test at Phillip Island, a complex injury that has unfortunately forced the British rider to miss the first four rounds of the 2026 season.

Jake is already undergoing intensive physiotherapy and using every possible tool to speed up his recovery, including daily sessions in a hyperbaric chamber. Although everything is progressing well on the road to recovery, he is not yet fit to race.

Substituting for Dixon in the meantime, 23-year-old Kunii has previously raced in the Moto2 and Moto3 World Championships and currently competes in the All Japan Road Racing Championship, in the JSB1000 class, aboard the CBR1000RR-R.
