Phoenix Trails is offering free motorcycle trail riding taster sessions at two key UK bike events this summer.

Visitors at the ABR festival and Heritage Sprint event will get the chance to sample motorcycle trail riding and benefit from the expert tuition of Phoenix Trails coaches for free – all included in the event ticket price.

Phoenix Trails normally offers trail riding coaching at its iconic UK location in Salisbury Plain, the Peak District, the West Pennines and Kent at a cost of £299 for a full day, but the team also attends two selected summer events where visitors can have a free taster session to discover the joys of riding motorcycles on legal green lanes. The sessions are only offered at the ABR festival and Heritage Sprint event, so this is a rare chance to get a free taste of trail riding.

The taster sessions offer an introduction into trail riding for anyone with a valid motorcycle licence, covering the basic skills needed to control motorcycles on loose surfaces that you would normally encounter on a trail ride. In addition, the team will be on hand to discuss all aspects of trail riding, from where you are allowed to ride to essential kit and bike considerations. It’s the easiest way to dip your toe into this fantastic way of exploring the path less travelled.

At the Heritage Sprint event, Phoenix is also teaming up with Claire Jones and holding workshops on the psychology of riding. This is another freebie for event ticket holders, and offers great insights into how to overcome psychological barriers to your riding.

Phoenix Trails free trail riding tasters take place at the ABR festival at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, on 26–28 June, and Heritage Sprint at Betteshanger Park, Kent, on 8–9 August.

Lightweight Racing Theme at the Southeast’s biggest indoor classic motorcycle show on Sunday 26 July.

Elk Promotions’ Ardingly Classic Bike Show & Jumble returns to the South of England Showground on Sunday 26th July 2026, with a lightweight racing theme and a tribute to Dresda cafe racers.

Alongside clubs from the lightweight classic racing scene, including the BSA Bantam and the Classic 50cc Motorcycle Racing Clubs, Guy Fithen will be representing Dresda, famed for their precision engineering and performance-focused custom motorcycles. Dave Degens, founder of Dresda Motorcycles, sadly passed away in January 2026 and this will be an opportunity to see his legacy.

A noted racer, frame builder and tuner, Dave was a familiar face at Ardingly events for many years and his ‘racing bikes for the road’ continue to attract a passionate following.

Covering nearly two acres of indoor space, plus extensive outdoor pitches, Ardingly remains the go-to summer show for classic bike fans across the Southeast. As always, club displays and private entries will pack the Jubilee Hall, while the all-motorcycle autojumble fills the rest of the venue; indoors and out.

There’s no age restriction on machines at the July Ardingly Show, so expect a mix that’s as broad as it is fascinating – past winners have included everything from a 1937 350cc Velocette KSS to a 1995 Honda CBR900RR Urban Tiger. The damp conditions of recent days made way for glorious sunshine today as the Motocenter Zelta Zirgs played host to the MXGP of Latvia, round eight of the FIM Motocross World Championships, in front of full banks of spectators eager to cheer on their home riders, of which they had a full complement for the first time in many years!

It’s been threatening for some time, but today it finally happened! The Coenens finally became the first ever twin brothers to each win a Motocross Grand Prix on the very same day, and they are the first brothers to achieve the feat since Sebastien and Christophe Pourcel took victories in MX1 and MX2 at Faenza in Italy, on the 15th of July 2007, when Lucas and Sacha were only nine months old!

Lucas Coenen was simply imperious on his way to victory in MXGP for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, leading every single lap and only being led through the first few corners in race two, a situation he quickly remedied!  Kay de Wolf claimed his best MXGP class result yet with second overall for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, and the only man who briefly led a Coenen all day, Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s #1 plate holder Romain Febvre, took third overall.

Sacha Coenen used his incredible prowess off the start to take both Fox Holeshot Awards and was never led by anyone to complete the perfect weekend for the family and Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, while Camden McLellan moved himself up in the Championship with second overall for the Triumph Racing Factory Team. Mathis Valin climbed the podium for the fourth straight GP with third overall for Kawasaki Racing Team MX2. Spare a thought for home hero Karlis Reisulis, who was looking good for a dream podium at home for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 until a last lap pass by McLellan knocked him back to fifth overall.

There was major adversity for title contenders in both classes as well, making it just about the most perfect weekend of racing possible for those with the surname Coenen!

Once again, Jeffrey Herlings put his HRC Honda Petronas machine at the top of the timesheets in morning Warm-Up, with reigning World Champion Romain Febvre second fastest, ahead of old foe Tim Gajser on the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP.

From his Qualifying Race win, however, Lucas Coenen had the inside gate and used it to great effect in race one, claiming his seventh Fox Holeshot Award of the season as Herlings lost traction briefly enough to have Febvre come past him into the second corner! The crowd were immediately involved as their home hero Pauls Jonass, in his first MXGP of Latvia since 2022, burst into view in fourth place for Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP ahead of the Gabriel SS24 KTM of Oriol Oliver. 

Oliver was bounced around a little on the first lap by Kay de Wolf and Gajser, as well as the second Honda HRC Petronas machine of Ruben Fernandez. De Wolf also sliced past Jonass after the uphill triple jump to claim fourth on the first full lap. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Andrea Adamo and the sole surviving Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team rider Calvin Vlaanderen rounded out the top ten. Calvin’s teammate Andrea Bonacorsi had undergone surgery on Saturday evening to treat injuries to his abdomen from his crash in the Qualifying Race.  We all wish him a speedy recovery.

As Gajser took advantage of a mistake by Jonass to pass the Latvian around the outside of a left-hander, taking fifth on lap four, so Herlings was attacking Febvre.  He was simply unable to get around the reigning World Champion, allowing Coenen to ease away at the front.  Behind them, Fernandez cut inside Jonass for sixth on lap seven, but that was as far as the local favourite would drop, while Adamo got past Oliver for eighth, and they finished in that order ahead of Vlaanderen.

Finally, on lap ten, Herlings was able to lean on Febvre to take second, but by that time De Wolf had caught them both and was able to pick the pocket of the Champ on the very next corner! The Frenchman would stay fourth ahead of Gajser and Fernandez at the flag, but De Wolf wasn’t done as he drew level with his elder compatriot over the big jump in front of the grandstand, the pair landing close together and the Husqvarna securing the move in the following corner!

Lucas’ final margin was just over three seconds, and he revealed that he had been wrestling with a technical issue for the last few laps, which was extremely worrying for the opposition!

The only racing achievement that didn’t have the surname “Coenen” stamped all over it was the second race Fox Holeshot Award, as Febvre nudged the Kawasaki’s wheels ahead of Coenen’s KTM on the run from turn one to turn two! Herlings came round in third ahead of another great start for Oliver, and Adamo initially in fifth, but former World Champions Jonass, Gajser, and De Wolf would nudge the two KTM men down to seventh and eighth by the end of the first full lap, with Maxime Renaux ninth for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and Jago Geerts a great tenth for MRT Racing Team Beta.

Coenen drew level with Febvre over the finish line jump, and pinched the Frenchman to the inside of the first corner of the first full lap, to grab the advantage and make the field chase after him once again.  Herlings obliged, determined not to let his young rival streak away as he blasted around the outside of Febvre to take second along the next straight and corner jump.

Sadly, Oliver and Renaux were to both drop out of the race early due to technical issues.  Geerts was promoted to eighth, higher than he has been all year for the factory Beta squad, and he had Jan Pancar behind him for TEM JP253 KTM Racing. Fernandez had gone down in the first corner and would face a race-long fight through to 11th at the flag.

Jonass held on to fourth for a loudly-hailed five laps before both Gajser and De Wolf got past him, while Pancar also overtook Geerts on the same lap to put the Belgian back to ninth ahead of Estonian Yamaha Keskuswild-card Jörgen-Matthias Talviku!  Talviku would battle with the Team Honda Motoblouz SR Motul rider Kevin Horgmo, finally nailing down eighth in the race with three laps to go ahead of the Norwegian, with Geerts scoring his first top ten race finish for Beta!  Pancar had an entertaining scrap with Adamo in a real factory-versus-privateer battle, which the Italian won to take sixth with two laps to go.  Seventh was still by far the Slovenian’s best race of the year.

At the front, Herlings and Febvre refused to let Coenen escape, and the teenager was absorbing the pressure well. As the Frenchman closed in, suddenly Jeffrey’s bike came to a stop on the exit of a left-handed corner, and the Dutchman would have to walk back to the Paddock for the second time in two GPs!  De Wolf got past Gajser in blazing style at around the same time to claim third.  As much as Febvre gave chase, Coenen was equal to it and cruised away to an eight-second race win and his 20th career Grand Prix victory, equalling his MX2 tally with his tenth in the premier class!  With De Wolf second overall ahead of Febvre, and Herlings’ problems giving Lucas a sudden 62-point advantage at the top of the standings, it was an amazing day for the red plate holder.

Gajser and Jonass held fourth and fifth to the flag, and would finish in those places overall ahead of Adamo, Fernandez, and a brilliant Pancar. Horgmo went 11-9 to take ninth on the day and his second top-ten in succession, with Herlings a dejected tenth overall.

Lucas had completed the most perfect weekend for one family in the history of Motocross, with complete domination of all three races across the weekend in both classes.  Where can it go from here?  As the halfway point of the season approaches, the rest of the field needs to find something in next weekend’s break from action before we rip into the MXGP of Italy at Montevarchi!

Lucas Coenen: “It’s just amazing, I can’t describe it better. To see me and my brother win all the Races together on the same weekend is just so amazing. Thanks to the team a lot, because they worked really hard after what happened in race  1, they put me in really good conditions to go out in the second Race, and then I just tried to control it and not make any mistakes, because the track was really tricky. I was in the lead so I just had to do the laps and try not to make a mistake, and that’s what I did. I was not searching to make a gap because the track was so tricky that you could easily make a mistake, so I was just happy to be up front with clear vision. It was a good weekend.”

Kay de Wolf: “Just positive. We aimed for going 3-3 on the weekend, ended up going 2-3, so we’re really happy. We achieved another goal going second overall. The second Race was a bit tougher, I got pushed wide with the start which put me in around ninth, and it didn’t flow as well as the first one. The first Race I had a way better flow and could ride way easier, so it’s tough to come through the pack. Tim [Gajser] put up a good fight and I made a few big mistakes actually which should not happen, but we’re still learning and we keep achieving new goals so I’m really happy. [About his acclimatation to MXGP Class] The first race in Spain wasn’t so good, I’d basically been lying on the physio table for three weeks doing nothing and then going racing in Spain was two tough Races. After the first one I was like, how am I going to even start the second? But I managed to get a decent result, seventh overall, and ever since then I’ve been going forward;  fourth, then fifth last weekend, and now second. We just keep building and trying to be consistent.”

Romain Febvre: “It’s a good weekend, just consistent, 4-2 on Sunday. The start was quite decent and I tried to work as much as possible on that, because even if you are not the best, if you start well it’s easy to stay with the good group, and that’s what I did this weekend. In the first Race I was maybe 20 minutes in second place, but behind me they were pushing, finding other lines, and every time I made a small mistake they came close, so I held on, held on, held on, and then at some point physically I was a little bit not strong, so I decided just to keep it for fourth. In the second Race I didn’t change anything but I was feeling much better physically. I took the holeshot but Lucas and Jeffrey passed me straight away on the first lap, so I was a little bit shocked,  I lost two positions in one lap. But I stayed with them, one or two seconds all the way, and then I guess Jeffrey had an issue with the bike and I was behind Lucas. I came close to him with two laps to go, but I was thinking too much about being on the podium because the last few weeks I missed it so many times and was not consistent. Either way, it’s definitely good to be on the podium, and with what happened to Jeffrey in the second Race, we take good points for the championship!”

Sacha Coenen once more set the fastest time in the Warm-Up session for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, but Janis Reisulis kept the crowd excited with second for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 ahead of the Kawasaki Racing Team MX2 machine of Mathis Valin.

Who else was going to take the Fox Holeshot Award? Coenen fired into the early lead and promptly escaped, as Jens Walvoort started in second on his SB Racing KTM, ahead of reigning Champion Simon Längenfelder on the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing machine! Fast all weekend, Valerio Lata was initially fourth for Honda HRC Petronas ahead of the Maddii Racing Honda ABF Italia of Maxime Grau, but Camden McLellan was on the charge and quickly past both red bikes, as well as Walvoort, to reach third behind Längenfelder by lap four.  Valin had started at the edge of the top ten, just ahead of Triumph Racing Factory Team rider Guillem Farres. 

McLellan got past the Champion for second on lap seven, as Valin marched up the order to hold fourth by then, as Lata crashed and damaged his machine to the point where he could not continue.  Farres, Karlis Reisulis, his brother Janis and the lone Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing pilot Liam Everts all got around the fast-starting Walvoort.

DRT Kawasaki’s Kay Karssemakers got past Grau to claim tenth with three laps to go, while Walvoort hung on to finish ninth, as Everts finished seventh between Karlis and Janis Reisulis, but behind Coenen the top order would take a final shake-up as McLellan went down heavily on landing from the uphill triple!  Amazingly unhurt, he had lost second for good to Valin, but recovered well enough with no helmet peak to hustle past Längenfelder for third on the final lap, and his teammate Farres followed in his wake! This put the Champion down to 14 points behind Coenen, but worse was to come for the German.

Race two saw Sacha Coenen extend his Fox Holeshot Award tally to ten for the year, but this one was more marginal over Lata, while Karlis Reisulis got the crowd roaring with a great start in third!  The Kawasaki machines of Valin and Karssemakers followed, but the Dutchman was passed early by the Beddini Racing Ducati Factory MX2 Team rider Ferruccio Zanchi, who was thankfully showing no ill effects from an over-the-bars crash in race one!

Karlis drew further excitement from the crowd with a quick pass on Lata to take second, and almost held on to Sacha, but there was no-one equipped with any Coenen Kryptonite, in either class, all day long!  The Triumph teamsters had not started well, and they had to fight through the pack again.  McLellan and Farres, in that order, worked past Valin to get into the top five on lap 12, a situation which put Karlis Reisulis in line for a home podium if he could stay in second!

Behind the leaders, Janis Reisulis recovered from a mid-race crash to claim tenth behind Karssemakers, while Zanchi made a few mistakes on his way to eighth, still a season’s best for the Italian before his home round to come!  Liam Everts finished a disappointing day in seventh, only good enough for sixth overall. Janis, Karssemakers, Walvoort, and Grau with 11-11 results would round out the overall top ten.

Längenfelder, meanwhile, was having a torrid time, and only got up to ninth before suffering a painful crash which cracked his back over the bike’s front wheel, and he pulled into the Paddock in pain.  McLellan broke Latvian hearts with a last lap pass on Karlis Reisulis for second, knocking the Yamaha man down to fifth overall behind Farres, and gifting Valin a podium despite finishing behind the Spaniard, who had passed Lata for fourth in the closing laps.  It gave McLellan a strong second overall, and he moves past Everts now into fourth in the Championship.

At the top though, stands Sacha Coenen, who backed off from his 25-second lead to bring home his third straight GP win at Kegums, and the sixth of his career to date.  More importantly in his mind, the Belgian is now 37 points ahead of Längenfelder in the World Championship, with Farres now just three behind the German!

There is hardpack to come, which will give hope to the chasers maybe in both classes, but the double Coenen express trains are looking impressive to say the least as the Paddock takes a week off, before re-convening at the seldom-used venue of Montevarchi for round nine on the 20th and 21st of June!

Sacha Coenen: “It’s amazing, I have no words. It’s really nice to win all the Races at the same time as my brother on the same weekend.. it’s really special! Especially on this track where I won my first GP, and now I’ve won here three times in a row, so it’s quite special. I’m really happy. I just like this track, it kind of suits me. I like everything about it,  it’s a bit sketchy in some places and you need to be really careful. I’m not really thinking about the championship, I’m just trying to go race by race and do my best every weekend. I’m still having fun on the bike, just keeping myself at the front every race and making the most points possible.”

Camden McLellan: “All in all, pretty good from my seat this weekend, a lot of sand flying in my face, but for the rest it was pretty good. I think if I could get out of the gate I could run with Sacha, but there are ifs, buts and maybes every weekend, so I really need to polish that and figure out why I’m not getting starts. Overall I’m happy, the team’s done a great job, the track was tricky, the bike was awesome and I was riding well, so if we can continue this momentum going forward I think we’ll be good. It doesn’t need to be a holeshot every time, but if I can round the first corner in the top five it would make my life a lot easier. The issue is Sacha is really good at sprinting in those first two or three laps and can build ten seconds before you blink. I think it’s mental, to be honest; I’m very calculated in terms of risk and reward, and I’m not willing to push over the limit when there’s no real reward. I’ll just build on confidence gradually and calculate it, which is my approach.”

Mathis Valin: “It wasn’t easy this weekend. I wasn’t feeling that great with the track, but I managed a good first Race. I didn’t have the best first corner but I had to fight to come back, and Camden made a mistake at the end so I could finish second, which was a good one. I gave everything in the first Race so I was a bit tired in the second. Overall it was good;  four podiums in a row, so I have the consistency now. I’m feeling good mentally. I just take it race by race and give my best, and if I can fight for the championship I will, but I’m not putting any pressure on it.”

MotoGP: It’s 100 GP victories for the #93 as he and Acosta go head-to-head in a Balaton battle after early drama for Aprilia and more.

Giacomo Agostini, Valentino Rossi, and now Marc Marquez. A tonne of talent. A tonne of Grand Prix victories to his name. Finally, after another lengthy injury comeback, Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) notched up his 100th win across all classes with a masterclass at Balaton Park. The reigning World Champion completed the weekend triple in style, and while the winning gap over Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was comfortable, the Spaniards treated us to a spellbinding battle on Sunday afternoon. Third place went to Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) as the Italian collects a third P3 trophy on the bounce, while huge drama unfolds at Turn 1 on the opening lap between championship front-runners.

MARTIN, BEZ, DIGGIA, FERNANDEZ & ALDEGUER DOWN
Into the tight Turn 1, Martin was out of shape as the front end of his Aprilia seemed to lock into the braking zone, and subsequently, five riders were down, including fellow Aprilia Racing star and title leader Bezzecchi. The championship leader was first to be collected, and then began the domino effect as Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team), Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) were left helpless. All five riders on the floor at Turn 1, with only Di Giannantonio able to get back up and continue.

Both Martin and Bezzecchi headed to the medical centre for a check-up, but thankfully, they were reported to have not sustained any visible fractures. In terms of a penalty, Martin was handed a double Long Lap for his next Grand Prix for the crash.

MM93 vs PA37
Having led, Marquez was then attacked at Turn 5 on Lap 2. This is what Acosta needed to do, as the #37 barged his way through on his compatriot to lead in Hungary. And after a few laps, Acosta stretched his lead to over a second.

Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) benefited from the Turn 1 mess; the Italian was a relatively lonely P3, with Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) leading a pack 2.6s away from the final podium spot. The Australian had Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol), Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR), Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3), Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol), Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team), and Iker Lecuona (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) for close company, as we saw Bastianini and Mir come into contact on the exit of Turn 1.

Mir was almost down twice, and the incident saw Bastianini receive a Long Lap penalty. That fed ‘The Beast’ back out in P11, one place behind Toprak Razgatlioglu (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP).

Up front, Marquez was purring. That Medium rear Michelin had warmed up nicely now, and the margin came down from as high as 1.6s to 0.7s by the start of Lap 10. Fast forward to Lap 13, and the gap was now 0.3s after successive fastest laps of the Grand Prix. Then it was 0.2s on Lap 14.

And on Lap 14, the blue touch paper was lit. Acosta vs Marquez. The battle we’d been waiting for. The #93 attacked at Turn 9, and while it stuck through Turn 10, Acosta cut underneath the reigning World Champion to retake the lead.

Then, Marquez attacked again at Turn 15. Acosta toughed it out around the outside, which became the inside at Turn 16, and the KTM star blocked the attempted overtake from the seven-time MotoGP World Champion.

On the next lap, it was time to launch a bid for the lead at Turn 9 again for Marquez. And this time, despite Acosta’s best efforts, it was a pass that stuck. The lead was Marquez’s on Lap 15 and immediately, the Ducati rider began galloping to a one-second lead.

MM93 PULLS THE PIN
By Lap 20 of 26, the gap crept up to 1.6s and on said lap, Marquez fired home the fastest lap of the race. A 1:38.313, half a second faster than Acosta, and this was a sure sign that Marquez had plenty enough in the tank to earn his 100th Grand Prix victory.

And that’s how it turned out. Thinking of a win pre-weekend? No chance, said Marc Marquez. But Balaton birthed a treble. No win since Misano 2025. A long wait for that 100th Grand Prix triumph. Wait no more. Marquez clinched a first win of the season, Ducati’s 100th, and it’s a win that sends a signal to the rest that the reigning World Champion is back.

Acosta could have done no more. It’s not the win, but the #37 was the only rider to get close to Marquez in Hungary, and it’s a big 20 points in the championship with the top three all either not scoring or picking up little on Sunday, in the case of Di Giannantonio. Bagnaia’s P3 is his third rostrum in a row, another decent Sunday outing for the Italian.

THE BALATON POINT SCORERS
Ogura’s late race pace shone through again, the Japanese rider overtaking Marini in the closing stages to earn P4, with the Italian earning an equal-best HRC result in P5. Moreira’s great run of form continues, P6 is the Brazilian rookie’s best MotoGP result to date, and a shoutout to seventh place Lecuona. Standing in for the injured Alex Marquez, a P7 is a phenomenal effort.

Miller ended the Grand Prix in P8, that’s the Aussie’s first top 10 of the year, as Bastianini – after two Long Laps – and Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) completed the top 10. P11 for Razgatlioglu is the Turk’s best MotoGP result so far, as Di Giannantonio comes back from that Turn 1, Lap 1 incident to collect what could prove to be some very precious points in P12. Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), and Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) were the final point scorers in Hungary.

Catch me if you can. For the first time since Fermin Aldeguer in 2023, a Moto2 rider has won three races in a row – step forward, Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP).

The #18 rolls out another masterclass to pocket a 2026 hat-trick, but the Spaniard was pushed most of the way by second place Filip Salač (OnlyFans American Racing Team). That’s the Czech star’s first podium since 2024, and what timing too, with the Czech GP appearing on the horizon. Third place went to Senna Agius as the Australian hands Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP a double podium in Hungary, which is the #81’s third top three of 2026.

From the front row, Salač earned the holeshot to pinch P1 off second place Guevara, as Gonzalez made up one place off the line to grab P3. That then became P2 as Gonzalez carved past title rival Guevara, and it got worse for the latter too as Agius, then Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team), moved on through to demote Guevara to P5.

Lap 4 saw two riders fighting to get into the top 10 crash out together into Turn 3, as Ivan Ortola (QJMOTOR – Exocom – MSI) and Daniel Muñoz (Italtrans Racing Team) came into contact and crashed. An early dose of drama, and there was more. Not a crash, but Guevara was handed a Long Lap penalty for an unsafe change of direction at the race start. At this stage, on Lap 4, Guevara had made a move back past Holgado for P4 behind Salač, Gonzalez, and Agius – but it wouldn’t be P4 for long.

On Lap 7, Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) crashed out of P7 at Turn 5 while shadowing the Aspar duo of Holgado and David Alonso, as Guevara came out from his Long Lap in P6. That could have been a lot worse for the #28, who was now 4.1s off the lead.

Having led for the entire race, Salač lost P1 for the first time on Lap 12 of 22. Turn 9 was Gonzalez’s chosen spot to pounce, so now, could the Czech star respond?

A personal best lap from Gonzalez, a 1:40.932, saw the title race leader’s advantage grow to 0.6s, with Agius closing in on Salač by just under a couple of tenths on the same lap. However, Salač was digging his heels in, and on Lap 14, the #12 was slightly faster than the new race leader.

And that was the same story for the next two laps, but then, Gonzalez hammered in a fastest lap of the race to stretch his lead back out to over half a second. However, yet again, Salač had a response. The Czech wasn’t throwing in the towel here.

With two to go, though, it seemed Gonzalez had now done enough to shake off Salač. The margin climbed to 0.9s, which then became 1.6s, as Gonzalez bagged a hat-trick of Moto2 wins to continue his incredible early-season form. Fair play to Salač, the Czech rider stands on the rostrum for the first time since 2024 ahead of his homecoming at Brno next time out, and Agius just about held off a hard-charging Alonso in the closing stages.

0.4s split the Australian and Colombian at the flag, with Holgado a distance P5. Guevara loses ground in the championship to Gonzalez after his P6, the gap now 49.5 points, with Celestino Vietti (MB Conveyors SpeedRS Team) coming from P12 on the grid to collect a P7. The Italian is now 52.5 points behind Gonzalez.

Alonso Lopez (ITALJET Gresini Moto2) earned P8, it’s a personal best result for Alberto Ferrandez (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) in P9, with Tony Arbolino (REDS Fantic Racing) completing the top 10 Shout-outs to Jose Antonio Rueda (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Taiyo Furusato (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), the rookies pick up their best Moto2 results to date in P11 and P14 respectively.

Gonzalez marches on. The #18 is in a league of his own right now, as we now look ahead to a trip back to the wonderful Brno.

Moto3: Back to the max! Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) returned to the top step of the podium as the Championship leader extended his advantage with a fine victory at Balaton Park.

The Hungarian GP in Moto3 has been won by Quiles for two years running, this time without a late battle. Polesitter David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) returned to the podium for the first time since his Buriram win with P2, whilst Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) completed a great comeback from the sixth row to take third.

Blasting off from pole position and grabbing the holeshot, Almansa hit the front on the opening lap ahead of Quiles in scenes we’d seen in the opening two GPs of the year. Behind, chaos at Turn 2 with Guido Pini (Leopard Racing) coming to grief after contact with Matteo Bertelle (LEVELUP-MTA), which put the #94 into the patch of Bertelle’s teammate Joel Esteban. At Turn 5, more drama as Ruche Moodley (CODE Motorsports) clattered into Hakim Danish (AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSI). Moodley retired whilst Danish rejoined via a trip to the pits.

The Grand Prix settled down with Almansa and Quiles leading the way whilst it was Perrone and teammate Rico Salmela (Red Bull KTM Tech3) in third and fourth. Rookie Salmela got into P3 at Turn 5 on Lap 4 and now set off after the two ahead of him. Behind the top four, valiant charges through the field were well underway as Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and David Muñoz (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) came from the sixth row to P5 and P7 respectively. On Lap 7, the first change for the lead as Quiles pounced at Turn 9, whilst the gap back to Salmela was just 0.7s. Lap 9 was a pivotal one as Quiles fired in a 1’45.872 and the fastest lap of the Grand Prix, whilst Almansa was three tenths slower and had made an error at Turn 5.

Into the second half of the GP, Almansa was digging deep to keep on Quiles’ shirt tails and the gap back to those behind had now grown to over three seconds. Perrone was back in third ahead of Salmela, Muñoz and Carpe and up ahead, at the end of Lap 12, Almansa had set the fastest lap but the gap continued to hover at around half a second between them. In the scrap for the final podium place, Carpe was third, a mega fight back from P18 on the grid.

With five laps to go, the gap between Quiles and Almansa had now grown to over a second, the Championship leader demonstrating his strength once again but the fight wasn’t over for third. Carpe may be leading it but teammate Brian Uriarte had now joined the group to make it a 10-wheeler.

Onto the last lap and the #51 had wrestled P4 off his teammate whilst Muñoz was next up. The battling continued until contact on the exit of Turn 11 between Carpe and Muñoz resulted in a multiple rider incident involving Muñoz, Perrone and Uriarte, bringing out the red flag just half a lap from full distance. Muñoz has been taken to local hospital for full checks.

Quiles eased to victory in the end ahead of Almansa whilst Carpe came home third, managing to keep it upright despite the late racing incident. Uriarte was classified in fourth ahead of Salmela who takes a career-best fifth, taking Finland’s best result in Moto3 since Niklas Ajo’s P5 at Mugello in 2014. Adrian Cruces (CIP GreenPower) rode a great ride from his career-best qualifying for a career-best sixth, ahead of Marco Morelli (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team), Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) who was top Honda, Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) and Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) who rounded out the top ten.

EWC (Endurance World Championship): The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team converted its pole position into victory at the 8 Hours of Spa Motos, second round of the 2026 FIM EWC.

YART Yamaha takes second, Kawasaki Webike Trickstar completes the podium. On the finish line, six different manufacturers filled the top six overall.

After eight hours of racing on a track caught between sun and rain, the BMW #37 of Markus Reiterberger, Steven Odendaal and Michael van der Mark crossed the finish line in front of the rest of the field. Briefly displaced by the F.C.C. TSR Honda France #5 in the opening minutes, the Bavarian machine quickly took the lead back and held it through to the chequered flag. Heavy rain swept across the circuit mid-race and the YART Yamaha had set itself up to capitalise. Dry conditions returning with one hour to go closed the door on any final twist.

The YART Yamaha #1 had built its strategy around fuel efficiency, running long stints. The shifting weather worked against them: the team had to pit twice in quick succession to swap tyres, conceding ground that could no longer be recovered. Marvin Fritz, Karel Hanika and Leandro Mercado settled for second, 1’16.079 behind the leader. The reigning World Champions still hold the championship lead with 91 points.

The Kawasaki Webike Trickstar #11 of Roman Ramos, Christian Gamarino and Grégory Leblanc rounded out the podium, two laps down. The team picks up valuable points despite a crash during the race.

SERT recovers to fourth, F.C.C. TSR Honda France out

The Yoshimura SERT Motul #12 finished fourth, three laps off the leader. Gregg Black, Etienne Masson and Dan Linfoot had to fight back from an early crash and produced a long recovery to land just off the podium.

The race ended early for the F.C.C. TSR Honda France #5, winners of last year’s edition. The Honda of Alan Techer, Corentin Perolari and John McPhee was running in contention for the win and posted the fastest lap of the race in 2’19.750 (set by Perolari). A technical issue around half-distance ended the team’s day.

The Elf Marc VDS Racing Team/KM99 #99 also had a tough race. Running in the EWC top 4 at half distance, the Yamaha was hit by technical issues and a crash for Bo Bendsneyder during a rider change. The team rejoined and crossed the line in 29th overall.

Superstock: Revo-M2 takes the class win

The Superstock category went to Revo-M2 #49 (Kevin Calia, Simone Saltarelli, Flavio Ferroni) on Aprilia. The Italian outfit completed 186 laps and held off Wójcik Racing Team #77 SST (Oscar Gutierrez, Jordi Torres Fernandez, Mateusz Molik) by 1’37.528 to take class honours. Team 18 Pompiers IGOL CMS Motostore rounded out the Superstock podium. 24 Heures Motos class winner Champion-Hert Powered by MRP retired after 100 laps.

Production: ARTEC #199 wins the class

In the Production category, ARTEC #199 (Paul Barre, Julien Mathon, Jacky Dejoye) took the class win on Kawasaki, ahead of Team HTC Racing #16 on Yamaha and Mana-au Competition #531 on Honda.

Championship standings after Spa

YART Yamaha retain the EWC championship lead with 91 points, ahead of Yoshimura SERT Motul (69 points) and BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team (68 points), now within a single point of second. Kawasaki Webike Trickstar sit fourth (64 points).

The shifting sands of the Motocenter Zelta Zirgs resounded with the rumbles of thunder last night, but thunder of a different kind reverberated around the Kegums venue today as the Qualifying Races saw the opening salvoes for the top riders at the MXGP of Latvia!

Round eight of the FIM Motocross World Championships is the last of a three-week run of events that have tested the riders thoroughly from one end of Europe to the next, and after two hardpack venues, this Baltic battleground provides a sandy surface with a hard base to reward any riders with all-round skills, and the track got drier through the day to make the ground even firmer by the time it came to the Qualifying Race for MX2 and MXGP.

The twin terrors, that are rampaging across the Motocross world right now for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, struck again with victories for both Lucas Coenen in MXGP and Sacha Coenen in MX2, the fifth time they have cleaned up in Qualifying, and the third time this year.

Lucas did the business after passing Kegums record win holder Jeffrey Herlings, who took second for Honda HRC Petronas ahead of fellow Dutchman Kay de Wolf, who continues to progress in his MXGP rookie season for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing.

Sacha also had to make a pass on a Honda HRC Petronas pilot who was fastest in Time Practice, this time in the shape of Valerio Lata, as the Italian scored his best Qualifying Race result of the season so far in second place.  Reigning World Champion Simon Längenfelder took third for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, but lost ground to Coenen in the series, trailing the Belgian by five points heading into the GP tomorrow.

The big question for tomorrow is if the twins, that both hold the red plates in their respective Championships, are finally going to bring home the double GP win that everyone feels must be coming soon!

The man with the most remarkable record at Kegums was eager to show that his pace has not lessened from his nine prior victories at this circuit. Jeffrey Herlings came in with a late effort in both Free and Time Practice sessions to top the tables both times for Honda HRC Petronas. He finished the session, that counted for gate pick, with a time just shy of four tenths of a second faster than fellow sand master Kay de Wolf. Championship leader Lucas Coenen took the third spot, while home hero Pauls Jonass excited his fans with fifth for Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP, just behind the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP machine of Tim Gajser.

Coenen pulled a classic Holeshot at the start of the Qualifying Race, as the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team rider Calvin Vlaanderen picked up his bike from a first corner tangle! However, Herlings tucked inside turn one rapidly and powered past the teenager into the second corner to take command at Kegums as he has done so many times before!

De Wolf gave chase in third, ahead of the Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP team leader Romain Febvre, who has been a disappointed 11^th in Time Practice but gated well in front of the second Honda HRC Petronas teamster Ruben Fernandez. Jonass held down sixth place ahead of the fast-starting Gabriel SS24 KTM of Oriol Oliver.

Maxime Renaux had not started well, and just like his Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP teammate Gajser he was outside of the top ten at the end of the first lap. He suffered a broken front wheel on landing from a jump and was sent spectacularly over the handlebars! Meanwhile, Gajser moved into the top ten between two Italians, Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team’s Andrea Bonacorsi in eighth and Fantic Factory Racing MXGP’s Alberto Forato in tenth.

Coenen seemed to be keeping Herlings just within reach, then on lap three he struck with an outside sweep around a right-hander that was as sudden as it was shockingly fast!  The Belgian immediately put the hammer down to march away from the opposition.  De Wolf was briefly troubled by Febvre but managed to pull a gap on the defending Champion.  On lap five both Bonacorsi and Gajser moved up a place due to a mistake from Oliver.  The Slovenian then passed the tall Italian on the way to the uphill triple jump to move into seventh, which is where he would finish.

Sadly for Bonacorsi, he then caught his foot on the take-off ramp of a corner jump at the end of lap nine, and crashed heavily out of the race.  We hope he is healthy enough to take the start tomorrow.

This promoted Oliver to eighth, his first Qualifying Race points finish yet, with Andrea Adamo working up to ninth for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, and the remarkable Vlaanderen recovered strongly from his first corner crash to claim the final point for tenth!

There was no catching Coenen out front however, and he eased off in the final laps to bring it home from Herlings, De Wolf, Febvre, and Fernandez, who moves past stricken Honda HRC Petronas teammate Tom Vialle into seventh in the series. Local hero Jonass, in his first Latvian GP since 2022, scored his best Qualifying Race result of the 2026 season so far, moving himself past Forato into tenth in the Championship!

Coenen stretches his points advantage over Herlings to 32, and eyes up the chance to dethrone the King of Kegums in tomorrow’s GP!  Will he succeed, or will “The Bullet” bite back in the Baltics? You need to be tuning in tomorrow to find out!

Lucas Coenen “Honestly, the start was good, but I was running too hard on the inside, and Jeffrey, like every year, he turns quite good on the inside, so he got me on that one. We were together, full pace in the beginning, but managed to take the pass over Jeffrey and just enjoy the riding out there. The track’s pretty sketchy, you know, it’s really hard underneath, so I hope tomorrow I can make some more lines to test. But yeah, it was good.”

Jeffrey Herlings “I made a slight mistake just before and I thought he was going to come inside but he came outside instead. Anyway, he was a bit faster than I was. I felt a bit slower the first 10-15 minutes but the last 10 minutes I kind of matched his speed. I don’t know if he was still pushing hard or whatever, but if you look at the gap compared to the other guys, we were still pushing in the end. Just need to work a bit overnight to see where we’re losing it and keep working for tomorrow. I have a good gate position next to my main rival so yeah, I’ll try to do the best tomorrow.”

Kay de Wolf “I was feeling quite good. I felt pretty good with the pace in the beginning, then Lucas went around Jeffrey. I tried a few laps to pass Jeffrey but I felt like I couldn’t really go around. I didn’t know Romain was still behind me, so he caught me a little bit off guard the last three laps, but just made it a small sprint for a lap and managed that gap. So yeah, I felt really good out on track and hopefully we can have a good day tomorrow.”

It was no surprise to see the winner of the last two MX2 events here, Sacha Coenen, top the timings in Free Practice, but the big hope for home success, Janis Reisulis, declared his intent with second place for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2! Surprising everyone in Time Practice, however, was Honda HRC Petronas’ flying Italian Valerio Lata, who pitched in with a brilliant lap to take the first gate pick away from Coenen by nearly nine tenths of a second!  Janis was still third ahead of the Triumph Factory Racing Team pairing Camden McLellan and Guillem Farres.

It was a different factory KTM than usual that led out of the first corner, as Simon Längenfelder celebrated with a fist-pump past Pit Lane, while Lata and Coenen followed in his wake!  The Champ’s lead would not last long, however, as he got it wrong heading towards the uphill triple, which had nearly claimed him in Time Practice and was tough on a 250cc machine. He had to back off and only double it, allowing Lata to pass him into the following corner, and Coenen capitalised on the confusion to dart to the inside of the German and relegate him to third!

Frenchman Mathis Valin, winner of the German GP for Kawasaki Racing Team MX2, held fourth ahead of Janis Reisulis, Farres, and the Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing machine of Liam Everts.  Privateers Kay Karssemakers for DRT Kawasaki, and Jens Walvoort of the SB Racing KTM Team, were inside the top ten ahead of McLellan at the end of the first full lap.

The South African fought forward rapidly from there at a position a lap until he caught his teammate Farres in sixth.  Meanwhile, Janis Reisulis pressured Valin, but was unable to make a move and seemed to lose momentum.  On lap eight McLellan finally made his way around Farres, then he passed the teenage Latvian, who had only just finished his final school exams on Friday morning, on the following lap!

Fifth was as high as McLellan would get to, while Liam, who had overtaken Farres for seventh on lap nine, battled with Janis over the last two laps, passing each other twice on the final lap!  The Belgian won that scrap to take sixth ahead of “The Killer”, with Farres a disappointed eighth ahead of Karssemakers and Walvoort, the final points scorer today.

Lata led Coenen for most of the race, but the Belgian finally made the move in dramatic style with three laps to go, over-jumping at the end of the longest straight and saving what could have been a big crash whilst taking the lead at the same time! Lata’s second place was the best of his year so far, and it helped Coenen to pull out another two points from Längenfelder, who took third ahead of Valin.

Things are close between Everts and McLellan for fourth in the series, with just two points separating them, while Lata’s score helped him pull away from Karlis Reisulis, who finished 11^th for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2.  Karssemakers needs just seven points to move into the top ten in the series at the expense of the absent Osička KTM rider Julius Mikula.

So will it happen? Will all of those “Twins take both wins” headlines, that journalists have had ready for a year and a half, finally be used after tomorrow’s four Grand Prix races?!  Many on track want to stop it from happening, but it could be inevitable!  Join us and find out live tomorrow!

MotoGP: Unbeaten in Hungary, the reigning World Champion lays down the gauntlet on Saturday as Acosta and Bezzecchi give chase

Cool, calm and gold medal-collected: Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) returned to winning ways in his second weekend back in MotoGP and keeps up his 100% winning record on Hungarian soil. Lights to flag and never looking back, the reigning World Champion held on ahead of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), whilst it was P3 for Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing), who extends his lead to 20 overall.

Holeshot from pole, Marquez held position to lead the opening lap ahead of Acosta, whilst Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi had leapfrogged his way from sixth on the grid to P3. Aldeguer was trying hard to move through on the Aprilia rider, hustling and pushing but finding no clear or clean way ahead of the #72. On Lap 2, Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) made a mistake under braking as he attempted to pass Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) at Turn 9 but outbraked himself and ran wide – but lost sufficient time so no penalty was necessary.

Still trying to find a way into third, Aldeguer had a big front-end moment at Turn 9 on Lap 3, gathering it all up but dropping to fifth behind Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team). Two laps later at the same corner, Martin tried again on Moreira and this time made it stick, with the 2024 World Champion moving up into sixth. Elsewhere, at the front of the field, Marquez had pulled out a lead of two seconds over Acosta but there was still half of the Sprint to go.

With three laps to go, it was till all to play for over third with Bezzecchi resisting Fernandez so far – even if the Spaniard had been handed a track limits warning. Still trying to salvage something after his Lap 3 moment, Aldeguer was close to Fernandez – too close in the braking zone for Turn 5 as he went wide. Fifth at best for the #54, still a personal-best Sprint of the season.

Dream land, cruise control, a Saturday stroll for Marquez who returned to winning ways with an 18th-career Sprint win, matching Martin for all-time Sprint wins. Acosta managed the Sprint to take home nine World Championship points whilst Bez took his second Sprint podium of the year. A valiant fourth from Fernandez, just 1.2s back from the podium whilst it was a Sprint of ‘what could’ve been’ for Aldeguer who had to settle for fifth.

Martin, Moreira and Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3) were next up, ‘The Beast’ P8 from P14. The final point went to Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), with the double World Champion denying Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) in P9. Further back, Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) was 11th whilst top Yamaha honours went to Toprak Razgatlioglu (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) in 13th.

Moto2: A late lap from Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) saw the rider second in the championship clinch a crucial pole position at Balaton Park, as in-form Filip Salač (OnlyFans American Racing Team) and Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) complete a front row split by just 0.035s.

World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) spearheads the second row of the grid after being shuffled down to P4 from provisional pole position early in the 15-minute shootout; he too is less than a tenth from Guevara’s 1:40.280.

The impressive Alex Escrig (KLINT Racing Team) and his compatriot Daniel Holgado (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) join Gonzalez on the second row in P5 and P6, as David Alonso (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team) loses pivotal places in the latter stages. Despite being under three tenths from pole, the 2025 Hungarian GP winner will launch from P9 behind Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Alonso Lopez (ITALJET Gresini Moto2).

Less than half a second covers polesitter Guevara to 12th place Celestino Vietti (MB Conveyors SpeedRS Team), the Italian crashing at the end of Q1 and eventually settling for a Row 4 start.

Moto3: David Almansa (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) will start the Brembo Grand Prix of Italy from pole after a close, close Q2 at Mugello.

The #22 heads Hakim Danish (AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSI) by just 0.018 thanks to a 1’54.862, with a late push from Joel Kelso (GRYD – MLav Racing) into third making it Spain – Malaysia – Australia on the Moto3 front row.

After the first runs it was Almansa leading Danish and Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo), the latter via Q1, and despite many heading round for a final push for the top, the timing screens didn’t move in the top two. So that tiny 0.018 margin between pole and second remains, with Almansa P1 pole and Danish forced to settle for second but continuing his impressive run of recent form.

Behind, Uriarte was pushed down to P4 late on as Kelso was last over the line and stole the front row, the Australian lining up third. Uriarte heads a Row 2 where he’s joined by Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) and Joel Esteban (LEVEL UP – MTA), the latter another late improver.

David Muñoz (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP), Marco Morelli (CFMoto Valresa Aspar Team) and Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) are Row 3, with Friday’s fastest, Scott Ogden (CIP Green Power) completing the top ten.

That leaves one big name much further down the order than he expects to start: Championship leader Max Quiles (CFMoto Valresa Aspar Team). The #28 is down in P15 and will be looking to shoot up the order on Sunday.

The Isle of Man TT Races has confirmed that no further racing will take place at the 2026 event, and the Milwaukee Senior TT will be declared a result after yesterday’s one-lap.

Following consultation between the Clerk of the Course and the Isle of Man Met Office, it has been determined that the forecast weather conditions around the Course are not looking to sufficiently improve within the required time, and the remaining available operational windows do not provide a suitable opportunity for any further racing to be completed safely.

As a result, the Milwaukee Senior TT result has been declared based on the positions at the end of a lap one of Friday’s original race start. Subsequently, the Carole Nash Sportbike TT Race 2 has been cancelled and will not take place.

Dean Harrison has therefore been declared the winner of the 2026 Milwaukee Senior TT, securing his 7th TT victory. He is joined by Peter Hickman in second place and Josh Brookes in third.

The decision brings to a close an event that has been significantly impacted by adverse weather throughout race week. In what has been an unprecedented run of conditions in recent TT history, rain will have affected seven of the nine days on which racing could have taken place, severely limiting the opportunities available to the Race Organiser ACU Events Ltd..

Despite those challenges, the Race Organisers have worked continuously throughout the event to identify and make use of every possible weather window. Decisions were reviewed repeatedly against the latest forecast information, course conditions and the operational requirements involved in delivering racing safely on the 37.73-mile TT Mountain Course.

Clerk of the Course Gary Thompson MBE BEM said:

“This has undoubtedly been one of the most challenging TTs in recent years from a weather perspective. Over the course of the event, we set out with nine days on which racing could potentially have taken place, and rain will have affected seven of them. That is an exceptional set of circumstances and it has had a major impact on what we have been able to deliver.

“Throughout the event, the weather simply hasn’t worked in our favour. We have faced low cloud, rain, standing water and changing conditions across different parts of the Mountain Course, which have significantly limited the windows available to us.

“We fully appreciate that today’s outcome will be disappointing for competitors, teams, sponsors, volunteers and, of course, the thousands of fans who travel to the Isle of Man from around the world to experience the TT.

“However, throughout the event we have remained committed to making the very best use of every available weather window, while carefully managing the operational, logistical and safety considerations involved in delivering racing on the Mountain Course.

“The challenges we have faced this year are part of the nature of an event that takes place on 37.73 miles of public roads. That is what makes the TT unique, but it also means that weather and course conditions will always play a significant role in determining what is possible.

“I would like to sincerely thank our competitors, teams, marshals, volunteers, officials, medical teams, residents, partners and fans for their patience, understanding and continued support throughout what has been a difficult week. Their cooperation has been greatly appreciated.”

MotoGP: The stage is set for a showdown as the #93 gets back on top, denying Friday pacesetter Acosta as Aldeguer completes the front row.

Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) vs Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) went to the wire to decide pole position at Balaton Park, with the #93 just coming out on top by half a tenth. Despite early drama for Marquez as he slid out at Turn 1, he continued on to eventually set a 1.36.785 and deny Acosta by 0.053. Completing the front row, Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) gives chase in P3, but three tenths off the top.

Q1: LATE MOVES ON TOP
In Q1 there were several key names looking for a way through – including Barcelona and Mugello podium finisher Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team). As Honda HRC Castrol held onto a provisional 1-2, Bagnaia was down in P9 after the first runs – but the #63 then pulled out a fast one to be leading the way as the seconds ticked down on the clock.

That demoted Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) to third and left it as Bagnaia and Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol) heading through. A late lap from Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) saw the Frenchman lose out in the final sectors and his challenge fade, left in P15 overall.

Q2: THE DUEL HEATS UP
The drama was immediate in Q2, with Marc Marquez sliding out at Turn 1 – a true slide out low side, no harm done – followed nearly immediately by Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) doing the exact same thing about 5m further round the corner. Both kept it running and both kept running too, opting to stay out and neither pitting in.

Meanwhile at the top, there were red sectors coming in and a familiar name in P1 after his Friday Practice domination: Acosta. The #37 was fourth tenths clear of Martin before another assault came in, with Marc Marquez slotting into second, still over two tenths off, ahead of Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) and then Aldeguer – shuffling Martin down to fifth.

The wick was soon to turn up. Acosta was flying and bettered his own provisional pole lap by another chunk – and then came Marquez. The #93 was on the pace but not pulling out much of a gap, keeping fans glued to the screen to see whether he’d just do it over the line – and he did. By hundredths.

Acosta was still out there but wasn’t able to quite take it back, and then he’d rolled out of it – leaving Marquez on another hot lap trying to better his own best, and Diggia the only other rider who looked like he might have something in the locker. Marquez crossed the line to go 0.006 faster, and Diggia saw his time fade round the lap. So that’s that: it’s the #93 on pole, with Acosta forced to settle for second by 0.053, and their speed setting the stage for what could be an instant classic Sprint this afternoon.

THE GRID SETS THE STAGE
Marquez vs Acosta heading the grid promises quite a show, but they very much have company. Aldeguer moved up to take that P3 last on, denying Di Giannantonio as he heads up Row 2 in fourth. Bagnaia went from Q1 to take fifth on the grid, with Championship leader Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) sixth on the outside of the second row. After showing some serious speed in the first two sectors, a mistake on one lap and time fading in Sector 3 sees the #72 looking for more in race trim.

Fernandez was shuffled down to seventh ahead of Martin, with Marini taking P9 after coming through Q1. Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) takes P10 and will be looking to move forward, as will Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR) from P11. Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) completes the Q2 runners in P12, starting just ahead of Mir after the #36 got left in Q1.

MotoGP: The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider topped the timesheets by a margin as Diggia and Fernandez give chase on Day 1.

A dominant afternoon in the books for Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) with the Spaniard more than four tenths clear of the opposition and leading the MotoGP field into Sprint Saturday at Balaton Park. A big Friday statement at the Hungarian GP saw the KTM star ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) and Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) as the chequered flag fell on Practice at Balaton Park.

FIRST HALF: the dice begin to roll
As the field rolled out of pitlane, the clock started ticking down for the all-important top 10 placings to be decided ahead of Saturday action. Enjoying a good stint at the top, Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) was leading the way as he continues to get back to full fitness. On the halfway mark of the session, Acosta took himself into P1, the #37 really gelling with Balaton Park on Friday having been third in the morning behind Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team), who after being P1 in FP1, was second with 25 minutes on the clock in Practice.

IMPROVEMENTS NEEDED: shock, surprises and more
Getting down into the final 20 minutes, one of the big surprises came in the shape of Iker Lecuona (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP), with the WorldSBK super sub putting together a lap that saw him go P9. Soon enough, others also followed suit with the likes of Diogo Moreira (Pro Honda LCR), Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and teammate Enea Bastianini getting themselves into Q2 spots. Aldeguer was back inside the top two places whilst the likes of Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol), Ai Ogura (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) were in need of a lap.

FINAL 5 MINUTES: time to push for Q2 spots
It was all to play for as we approached the chequered flag approached; Marini got himself provisionally into P7 whilst Pecco was P8. Moreira, who was briefly out of the top ten, retaliated with sixth whereas for Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), it was all over as the South African crashed when he was set to move into the top ten. There were late improvements from Di Giannantonio to go second and Fernandez to go third but nobody could lay a glove on Acosta, setting a 1’36.827 to see ‘The Shark’ lead into the rest of the weekend as the rider to beat.

FRIDAY TOP 10: battle on at Balaton
Acosta set the only 1’36 of the weekend and has a margin of over four tenths of a second back to ‘Diggia’ in second; Fernandez finished Friday as he started it with a P3, making it three different teams and manufacturers inside the top three. Aldeguer was a solid fourth ahead of Ogura and Bezzecchi whilst Marc Marquez clinched seventh. The top ten was completed by Moreira, Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) who made it all four Aprilias directly into Q2 and Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP), with ‘Thriller’ putting in a late lap for tenth overall.

HOTLY CONTESTED Q1: plenty of stars and World Champions down field
Close but not enough for Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) who was 11th, just 0.054s ahead of Toprak Razgatlioglu (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP). Bagnaia was only 14th, one place ahead of Bastianini and then Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) who was 16th; teammate Marini was 13th. Lecuona’s surprise charge for a Q2 placing ended with him in 17th but just under three tenths away from Miller in P10.

Moto2: As Fridays go, that was about as good as it gets for Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) at Balaton Park.

A new all-time lap record was set by the Moto2 title race pacesetter, a 1:40.229, to see the Spaniard finish 0.2s clear of second fastest David Alonso (CFMOTO Inde Aspar Team), and 0.3s ahead of third place Filip Salač (OnlyFans American Racing Team).

The big news from Moto2’s Practice session was Celestino Vietti (MB Conveyors SpeedRS Team) missing out on a place inside the top 14, with the Italian sat in the box in the closing stages with what appeared to be some form of issue. The back-to-back P2 finisher, and the rider who sits third in the overall standings, has work to do on Saturday.

A late lap from Daniel Muñoz (Italtrans Racing Team) saw the Brazil podium finisher earn a P4 on Day 1 in Hungary, while top Boscoscuro honours went to rookie Alberto Ferrandez (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) in P5.

Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2) had a tricky day at the office following an out-lap crash in FP1, but the rider second in the title chase will be in Q2 after a P11 on Friday. However, more is needed from Gonzalez’s closest challengers heading into the weekend.

Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) hit the front of Practice in Moto3 at Balaton Park and never looked back as he topped the opening day of action.

Fast in the morning but fastest in the afternoon, his 1’46.269 saw him take top spot by more than three tenths of a second, returning from his first finish outside the top ten at Mugello with a vengeance.

Setting his lap time earlier in the session, the #28 remained unbeaten for the rest of the session, just ahead of late improver Veda Pratama (Honda Team Asia) who took top Honda honours. Fastest in FP1 and third in the afternoon, David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) was back on track after his Mugello illness to complete the top three, just 0.032s behind the Indonesian in second.

Almansa’s teammate David Muñoz was fourth whilst Joel Kelso (GRYD – MLav Racing) was a strong and solid fifth. Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse) rounded out the top six in what was an impressive showing from the Irishman. Elsewhere, Guido Pini (Leopard Racing) got into Q2 directly for the first time since we touched down in Europe whilst Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was only 13th – but still good enough to move into Q2. Teammate and Moto3’s most-recent winner, Brian Uriarte, could only manage 18th place, leaving him in Q1.

Michael Dunlop MBE won the first Carole Nash Sportbike race at the Isle of Man TT Races on Friday afternoon, taking the Paton by MD Racing machine to victory by more than 28 seconds to claim his 36th TT victory.

​Dunlop set a new lap record of 124.530mph to come home comfortably ahead of Mike Browne (Melbray/Laycock Racing Paton) and Paul Jordan (Jackson Racing powered by Propser2 Aprilia), just 0.663s separating second and third in the two-lap race.

Delayed until 4.00pm, Dunlop led at Glen Helen on the opening lap, the gap to second placed Browne already 3.68s. Jordan was 1.3s behind in third with Peter Hickman (Swan Racing by PHR Performance Yamaha) a further three seconds adrift in fourth. Joe Yeardsley (Flitwick Motorcycles Yamaha) and Jamie Coward (Milenco by Padgetts Paton) completed the early top six as Michael Sweeney (MSR Racing Aprilia) started well in seventh.

Dunlop had more than doubled his lead by the time he jumped Ballaugh Bridge for the first time, the Northern Ireland rider beating the previous best sector time from Glen Helen to Ballaugh by almost three seconds! His lead over Browne was now 7.97s with Jordan now 1.9s further back in third whilst Michal Dokoupil (Indiracing Aprilia) had moved up from tenth to seventh.

Onto Ramsey and Dunlop set another new fastest sector time, two seconds quicker than his previous best, and he was six seconds inside his own lap record over the first 24 miles of the lap. The lead had increased to 11.3s but there was still only 2.2s between Browne and Jordan although Hickman was losing time, the Swan Racing rider looking down at the machine on more than one occasion.

Jordan had closed to within 1.2s of Browne at the Bungalow but at the head of the field, Dunlop’s first lap of 123.637mph not only put him 17.5s clear but was also a new class lap record, quicker than what he’d gone before on the Paton.

With no pit stop, he continued for his second lap and there was change behind him as Jordan (121.695mph) had taken over second from Browne (121.682mph) albeit only just with the gap between the two only 0.122s.

Hickman (119.926mph) remained in fourth but had slipped 16.3s behind Browne and was only 4.3s ahead of Coward. Yeardsley was a similar distance behind in sixth as Dominic Herbertson (KTS Macadam Triumph Factory Racing), Dokoupil, Barry Furber (DC Motorcycles Newtown Yamaha) and Sweeney completed the top ten.

Yet another new fastest sector time, from the Grandstand to Glen Helen, added another five seconds to Dunlop’s lead but the battle for second was continuing to rage, only 0.2s between Jordan and Browne. And by Ballaugh, Browne had reclaimed second by 1.1s, the Irishman adding another eight tenths of a second to his advantage on the run to Ramsey.

Hickman was looking secure in fourth as Coward and Yeardsley continued to circulate in fifth and sixth respectively. Herbertson was still in seventh, but Furber had overhauled Dokoupil for eighth.

A stunning final lap of 124.530mph gave Dunlop a commanding victory by 28.775s but the battle for second went all the way to the chequered flag as Browne (123.273mph) and Jordan (123.185mph) both set personal best laps in the class, breaking the 123mph barrier for the first time. Both riders were also inside the Supertwin lap record, but it was Browne who got the verdict by the slender margin of 0.663s!

​Hickman (121.952mph) was another to go quicker than before as he claimed a solid fourth place ahead of Coward (120.902mph) and Yeardsley (119.587mph), who took a career-best sixth, with Herbertson, Furber, Dokoupil and Sweeney completing the top ten.

​AJ Venter (TH Racing Kawasaki) just missed out on the top ten in 11th with Shaun Anderson finishing 18th on the CF Moto and newcomer Rhys Stephenson (Rocket Racing/Pell Plant Hire Triumph) lapping at a strong 114.073mph on the final lap to take a fine 24th place.

Meanwhile, Mark Parrett finished in 35th place as he became just the sixth rider to make 100 TT starts, following in the footsteps of David Madsen-Mygdal, Ian Lougher, Jim Hodson, John McGuinness and Joey Dunlop.

Michael Dunlop (Scars Racing Ducati) took his 35th victory at the Isle of Man TT Races on Friday afternoon as he defeated Dean Harrison (Honda Racing UK) by 26.1s in the second Monster Energy Supersport race with Peter Hickman (Trooper Triumph by PHR Performance) once again completing the podium in third.

In a repeat of Tuesday’s race, Dunlop had to overhaul Harrison as the latter again came out of the blocks quickest, setting the fastest lap of the race at 129.218mph on lap one. However, Dunlop gained time at the pits and by Glen Helen on lap two had taken the lead for the first time, pulling away from there on in. It was Dunlop’s 54th TT podium in his 97th race start.

After an hour’s delay, the race got underway at 12.45pm under sunny skies although a strong breeze was prevalent and it was Harrison who led at Glen Helen first time around, his advantage over Dunlop 1.4s.

Hickman was 2.7s further back in third as Paul Jordan (Jackson Racing powered by Prosper2 Ducati), Josh Brookes (Uggly & Co. Racing Suzuki), and Dominic Herbertson (KTS Macadam Triumph Factory Racing) completed the early top six although Mike Browne (Boyce Precision Engineering by Russell Racing Yamaha) wasn’t registering on the times at the first sector point due to an intermittent transponder. Just 1.4s covered the sixth to tenth placed riders.

Over Ballaugh Bridge for the first time, Harrison had added another half second to his lead with a sector time only 0.8s outside the quickest ever, set by Dunlop twelve months ago. Hickman had lost a bit of ground though, the Triumph rider now four seconds behind Dunlop.

By Ramsey Hairpin, Harrison’s lead went out to 2.6s, and Dunlop had also pulled further away from Hickman, with Jordan now only 2.6s adrift in fourth.

Harrison added another 1.2s to his lead on the climb up Snaefell, from Ramsey to the Bungalow, and an opening lap of 129.218mph gave him a lead of 3.6s over Dunlop (128.768mph) as they came into the pits for their mandatory stop, the lap speeds indicative of the good conditions.

Hickman (127.724mph) remained in third but was now 8.6s down on Dunlop although he’d edged away from Jordan with the gap between the two now 4.6s, the latter setting his quickest ever Supersport lap at 127.164mph.

Brookes (126.252mph) and Herbertson (125.892mph) slotted into fifth and sixth as Jamie Coward (Rapid Honda by DriveLife), Shaun Anderson (Stanford Racing by ARD Suzuki), Ian Hutchinson (Burrows Engineering/RK Racing Ducati) and Conor Cummins (North Lincs Components Suzuki) rounded out the top ten as Browne remained absent from the leaderboard.

However, it was all change at Glen Helen on the second lap as Dunlop took over the lead, the Ulsterman going 1.7s clear largely due to having a substantially quicker pit stop to the tune of five seconds.

Dunlop was now in the ascendancy, increasing his lead over Harrison to four seconds at Ballaugh with Hickman doubling his advantage over Jordan, the gap between the two now 8.3s.  It was close for fifth though with only 0.1s between Brookes and Herbertson whilst Browne was estimated to be close to the two riders as well.

The lead increased again at Ramsey, Dunlop’s advantage now 7.6s and going into the final 37.73 miles he’d looked to have broken the challenge of Harrison, just as he had done in race one, with the lead up to a substantial 16s.

Hickman was looking more and more secure in third with Jordan having now pulled nine seconds clear of Brookes. It was close for sixth though with little to choose between Herbertson and Browne. Coward, Anderson and Hutchinson continued to circulate at the bottom end of the top ten, but Cummins’ strong ride was over as he pulled into the pits to retire.

At Glen Helen for the final time, Dunlop’s lead was up to 18.6s and he wasn’t to be denied his 35th TT win, a final lap speed of 128.405mph seeing him take the chequered flag some 26.1s ahead of Harrison (127.197mph).

Harrison’s margin over Hickman (127.446mph) was equally comfortable at 13.5s but there was change for fourth right at the end as Browne set his quickest ever Supersport lap, in excess of 127mph, to pinch the result off good friend Jordan (126.241mph) by 0.9s, Jordan having to nurse the bike home on the final lap.

Brookes (127.132mph) was only 1.6s further back, the Australian also setting his fastest Supersport lap, as Herbertson, Coward, Anderson and Hutchinson completed the top ten. Mitch Rees (Milenco by Padgetts Honda) claimed his best TT result in 11th with other strong rides coming from Pierre Yves Bian (14th) and Erno Kostamo (16th), the latter the first privateer home.

With a high frame rate of 60fps and HDR support, the cameras effortlessly handle high-contrast light conditions, such as riding through tunnels or the shifting shadows of buildings and trees. An SD card, to record footage, fits in the compact ‘brain’unit which measures 70.6 x 55.6 x 24.5 mm and is powered by a dual-core processor.

Designed with minimal fuss to keep the rider fully focused, the XR-1 is screenless. This ensures that handlebars aren’t cluttered and protects rider safety by removing the distraction of reviewing footage on the move.

If the system detects a crash, it will instantaneously capture footage and lock it down, meaning that it can’t be overwritten and the incident is captured for posterity. Protection doesn’t stop when the engine is turned off, Parking Guard ensures that the XR-1 keeps watch at all times. Resting mode uses low power and if the bike senses movement recording begins and when you return to the bike a voice alert lets you know that an incident has occurred.

Viewing of footage via the CHIGEE Go App is simple and with Bluetooth connectivity ensures footage can be reviewed and edited simply via any smartphone.

Built to withstand tough riding conditions, the XR-1 is resistant to engine and road vibrations. The cameras carry an IP68 rating and the main unit features an IP69 rating, ensuring they remain operational in all weather conditions.

A Wired Remote is available as an optional accessory. This unit features built-in GPS for data overlay, allowing real-time speed and location information to be recorded. This ensures vital information is captured in the event of an emergency or as part of a tour log. With its ergonomic design the remote can be mounted near the thumb for safe “blind” operation without the need to release the grip.

Zero Motorcycles is celebrating 20 years of electric innovation with the launch of X Line Experience in the UK, a new programme designed to give riders the chance to experience the brand’s all-electric off-road motorcycles in their natural environment.

In conjunction with two dedicated off-road partner centres, Moto Junkies and Desert Rose, Zero’s new initiative will offer guided riding experiences on the Zero XE and Zero XB, giving riders of all abilities the opportunity to discover a new generation of trail riding.

The new experience programme has been created to make off-road riding more accessible, approachable and responsible. Hollywood A-lister Jason Momoa’s vintage Land Rovers and Harley-Davidsons converted to electric power by Electrogenic for new season of ‘On The Roam’

British EV technology company Electrogenic has revealed the latest vehicles it has converted to electric drive for Hollywood A-lister Jason Momoa – star of Game of Thrones, Aquaman and Dune. The UK-based business has re-engineered five of Momoa’s cherished machines – two classic Land Rovers and three Harley Davidson motorbikes – for the new season of his acclaimed documentary series, On The Roam.

Electrogenic has converted two extremely rare Land Rovers – a 1961 Series IIA 109 Dormobile and a 1949 Series I 80” – to all-electric power, along with his vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycles, creatively reimagined by Electrogenic as a plug-in hybrids.

Electrogenic also equipped Momoa’s Schutt Industries XVENTURE XV-2 trailer with integrated battery storage – ideal for off-grid camping excursions.

The vehiclesand the painstaking process behind their conversions, play a starring role in episode 4 of the new series of On the Roam, ‘Off The Grid’, which premieres on 4^th June on HBO Max (accessed via Amazon Prime) and Discovery+.

The new builds follow on from Electrogenic’s conversion of Momoa’s 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II to electric power, which was revealed in the first series of On The Roam, in 2024. Still the most ambitious and complex EV conversion completed globally to date, the Phantom II project spawned an ongoing creative partnership between the actor and the Oxford-based EV technology firm.

Working closely with Momoa, a passionate car enthusiast and environmentalist, Electrogenic applied the same philosophy to the latest project as it did to the Phantom: giving each a clean and reliable up-to-date powertrain, all while honouring the engineering and character of the original vehicles – ensuring they can be used freely and bring joy for many decades to come. As with all Electrogenic conversions, nothing has been cut, drilled or welded on the original vehicles, and each conversion is entirely reversible.

Jason Momoa said: “I really love annoying Steve at Electrogenic and trying to make things extremely difficult for them. I come in with the wildest ideas. That’s three times you have made my dreams come true.

“I’m always excited about what’s happening with technology and how we move through this world. So that’s the motivation (for these projects). I live a life that’s kind of off the grid, and I love being outdoors… I want to be able to stay outdoors and try to do something in a more sustainable way.”

“The technical challenge with the Land Rovers was to introduce electric power while retaining the original four-wheel-drive transmission, which is what gives these iconic vehicles their unrivalled offroad capabilities – now enhanced by effortless torque. For the Harley-Davidsons, the challenge was even greater: to ensure technologies that were made 100 years apart work seamlessly together. Our in-house technology is the ‘secret sauce’ that makes it all possible.

“The Series 1 Land Rover is effortless to drive and no longer has exhaust gasses that notoriously recirculate into the cabin. The Dormobile camper how features an induction hob and other ‘mod cons’. The bikes can now be ridden on pure electric, petrol only or on combined hybrid power, and riders can switch between these effortlessly on the go. Perhaps even more exciting for the old Harleys is that the motor acts as an electric starter for the engine – no more kick-starter mishaps!

“The results stand as a testament to the creativity and world-class powertrain capabilities of our fantastic team. We’re immensely proud of the finished builds, and conversion kits for the Land Rovers and Harleys are available for shipping worldwide. As ever, Jason’s creative mind, his appreciation of our work and the infectious enthusiasm he has for pushing the boundaries with these beautiful old vehicles, makes it a joy to work with him.”

Two rare classic Land Rovers, sympathetically electrified

The first of the two Land Rovers converted for Momoa is a 1949 Series 1 80” – one of the earliest, most historically significant Land Rover models. The conversion incorporates a 48kWh battery pack, which is neatly packaged into the Land Rover’s engine bay, filling the space vacated by the original 1.6-litre 4-cylinder 50bhp power unit. The batteries are housed within a bespoke battery box created for Momoa, designed to reflect the patina of the vehicle which still retains its original paint.

The batteries feed a 150kW electric motor, dialled down to approximately a third of the available torque, to ensure it is responsive but not too potent for the light-weight vehicle. The motor drives the original transmission via a proprietary 2:1 fixed reduction gearbox which is bolted directly to the original transfer box. This ensures that all the functionality and character of the four-wheel-drive system – including all the original levers – is preserved.

Lightweight and simple, the Series I has been transformed into a clean, capable and characterful classic that drives with renewed vigour, enhancing the qualities that made the original such an icon. It is also equipped with CCS super-fast charging and a real-world range in excess of 150 miles.

The second Land Rover is a 1961 Series IIA 109 Dormobile – an exceptionally rare variant. Just 150 examples of the Dormobile camper conversion were ever produced, making it one of the most collectible variants in the Series IIA line-up. Electrogenic has converted the Dormobile to clean, all-electric power, while taking great care to preserve the vehicle’s original character, functionality and off-road ability.

The conversion incorporates a 62kWh battery, packaged into the original engine bay and behind the rear axle, where the fuel tank was. It has CCS super-fast charging and a range of 150 miles in real-world use. The Land Rover is powered by a 120kW electric motor, coupled to a bespoke 2.9:1 fixed reduction gearbox that again bolts directly to the original transfer box – retaining the Series 2a’s selectable four-wheel-drive. As with all Electrogenic work, nothing was cut or drilled on the original vehicle, and the conversion is entirely reversible.

The Dormobile camper interior has also been electrified, with a modern induction hob in place of the original gas appliance – allowing the vehicle to be used as an entirely self-sufficient, fully zero-emission camper, enabling driver and passengers to explore off the beaten track for days at a time.

Commenting on driving the converted Land Rovers, Momoa said: “It’s a whole different experience, me and my daughter going through the forest quietly – it’s beautiful.”

Vintage Harley-Davidsons reimagined as plug-in hybrids – now available as ‘drop in’ kit

Alongside the two Land Rovers, Electrogenic has electrified three of Momoa’s cherished vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycles; the first two-wheeled conversions undertaken by the brand.

The three bikes include a 1924 Harley-Davidson Model JD and a 1927 Model JD – both powered by twin-cylinder, 74 cubic inch petrol engines producing 20bhp and 50lb-ft of torque which have been revised to feature an EV powertrain working alongside the original petrol engines in a ‘plug in hybrid’ setup. A further 1921 Model FD has been converted to EV-only power.

Momoa said: “This is the best thing we’ve ever made… (it is) unbelievable. It’s so smooth. I’ve ridden on an e-bike before, I’ve ridden on e-bicycles, I’ve ridden on e-motorcycles, but the idea of riding on an old (electrified) bike, it was just unlike anything I’ve experienced.

“If I want to hear the sound (I can), and if not I can just flip it over (to electric). I feel that anyone who rides motorcycles needs to try it. You’re brain is going: “I’m moving, I’ve got power coming to me and there’s no sound.” I can have a full conversation with my friend, just going through the mountains… cruising on this old 1920s bike, and totally feeling it’s a 1920s bike. It’s just a really beautiful experience.”

Electrogenic’s conversions not only enable silent, zero-emissions running, but also significantly improve the overall safety and useability of the circa 100-year-old motorcycles, which hail from an era in which bikes were demanding and risky to operate. The original bikes were challenging to kick-start, and had no front brakes, relying solely on ‘band-style’ rear brakes and engine compression to slow them down.

Electrogenic’s innovative solution – which is available for purchase as ‘drop in’ kit – transforms the riding experience. Each bike has been discreetly fitted with an 11kW (15bhp) Maeving hub motor built into the rear wheel, producing 260Nm (190lb-ft) of torque. This gives the motorcycles effortless electric performance, with the added benefit of easy electric start. A modern disc brake has been added to the rear wheel in place of the original band brake, significantly increasing stopping power.

Drummond added: “When Jason outlined his concept of a petrol Harley with an electric motor in the rear wheel, we researched the technical options and the only company in the world that manufactures a motor that is powerful enough is Maeving. Maeving was kind enough to sell us some units, and the Harleys use the UK-based company’s removable battery packs too.

“Getting it to all work – and work seamlessly – required a great deal of R&D and extensive calibration. We’re delighted with the results; they offer a unique riding experience, and the acceleration when you select second gear whilst cruising on combined petrol and electric power is addictive!”

The batteries and control units are all tucked away in custom, period-correct panniers. The panniers are essentially the same dimensions as original period items, though a little deeper. They can be finished in leather or fabric to match the owner’s taste. Each pannier holds a 2.7kWh removable battery pack; these can be charged while on the bike, or removed for charging separately. A full charge takes approximately 2.5 hours with a standard AC wall outlet. There’s room in the right-hand pannier for a packed lunch or other road trip essentials.

The Harley-Davidson Model JDs can be ridden on EV power, petrol power, or with both powertrains working in tandem. The rider can change between modes with a simple switch.  EV-only range is more than 50 miles, with further range provided by the petrol engine. The engine on the 1921 Model FD was seized beyond repair; now thanks to EV power, it runs again. For the hybrid bikes, the EV motor can be used to start the petrol engine, doing away with the need for the original kick-starter.

Southern 100 Road Races: Southern 100 Club Statement: Classic Sidecars at Southern 100 2026

Following the difficult but necessary decision to suspend the modern Sidecar class from the 2026 Southern 100 Races on safety grounds, the Southern 100 Club is delighted to announce an exciting new contingency plan aimed at ensuring three-wheeled racing remains a core part of this July’s event.

In collaboration with competitors and technical officials, the Club is actively working to introduce a Classic Sidecar class to the main July programme.

The proposed races will run strictly under the established Pre-TT Classic Road Races technical regulations. Because these traditional machines do not utilise the complex prototype aerodynamic features or flat-floor designs of their modern counterparts, they are entirely unaffected by the current regulatory pause affecting the modern class.

In an extraordinary show of support for the event and the road racing community, an anonymous benefactor has generously offered to fully fund the entry fees for all Classic Sidecar teams who enter and attend the 2026 Southern 100.

Clerk of the Course, Giles Olley, commented:

“We were deeply saddened to have to pause the modern sidecar class this year, but as organisers, we must look forward. The idea to bring the Classics into the July event came directly from discussions within the paddock and it is a fantastic solution. Thanks to the incredible generosity of a private benefactor covering all entry fees, we are removing the financial barrier for teams. The message from the Club is clear: if the teams enter and we can build a viable grid, the races will go ahead. Newcomers to the event especially are very welcome.”

The Southern 100 Club is now issuing an urgent appeal to all Classic Sidecar competitors across the UK, Ireland, and further afield. This is a unique opportunity to race on the iconic Motor Isle Billown Course, in front of the legendary Southern 100 crowds.

This initiative is strictly dependent on grid numbers. Interested teams and competitors are urged to contact the Race Office immediately to register their interest and secure their entry. Further logistical details and entry forms will be made available via the official Southern 100 website and channels in the coming days.

The Club also wishes to reaffirm its commitment to the long-term future of the modern sidecar class. We welcome the recent constructive insights from legendary chassis designer Louis Christen regarding the need for a collaborative regulatory review. The Southern 100 Club intends to be fully involved in that upcoming consultation alongside the ACU and industry experts to ensure modern sidecars can return to the Billown Course safely in 2027.

Acerbis is expanding its off-road lineup with a complete range of goggles, marking a significant entry into a category that is key to riders’ safety and performance.

This brand-new collection combines experience, research, and attention to detail, with the goal of offering technical solutions suitable for every level of use and completing the rider’s gear. The new range consists of four distinct models, designed to meet different needs but united by a focus on visual comfort, protection, and practicality.

VORTEX: Acerbis’ top-of-the-line model for performance, comfort, and style

At the top of the range is the Vortex, a goggle designed for riders seeking maximum performance in all conditions. Its standout feature is the lens with Perception technology, engineered to provide extremely clear vision in any lighting condition and an extra-wide field of view.

The lens, injection-molded for maximum resistance to impacts from debris and mud, features a quick-release system that makes replacement and cleaning easy, while the premium anti-fog coating ensures visibility even in the most challenging conditions.

The Outriggers feature a distinctive design that integrates into the goggle lens and ensures proper tensioning of the strap to guarantee ergonomics, stability, and comfort, allowing the goggles to adapt to any type of helmet.

The frame features a dual-density construction: rigid on the outside, soft TPU on the inside to conform to any face shape. The large vents ensure effective ventilation during use. The generous dimensions allow the rider to better perceive what is happening around them and make the Vortex compatible with prescription glasses. Additionally, the nose guard is removable.

The 45-mm adjustable strap features silicone inserts that improve grip on the helmet, helping to keep the goggles securely in place even during the most intense use.

The Roll-off version features an extra-large 50 mm sliding film that provides excellent visibility even in extremely muddy conditions. The kit is also designed to accommodate tear-offs over the roll-off kit for the early stages of the race.

On all versions, the lens can be replaced with a clear, mirrored, or Roll-off lens, allowing you to adapt the goggles to different weather conditions. Also available as accessories are the “Enduro” double lens for €29.95 and the photochromic lens for €49.95.

The Vortex is available in three versions: the Vortex, with a clear Perception lens; the Vortex Mirror, with a mirrored Perception lens; and the Vortex Roll-off. The price is €104.95 for the standard model, €114.95 for the Mirror, and €134.95 for the Roll-off version.

With the Vortex model, Acerbis brings to market a goggle that leaves nothing to chance, designed for those who approach every race with maximum concentration and cannot afford to compromise on vision quality or eye safety.

VULCAN: top-of-the-line features, without compromising on style and comfort

The Vulcan model is an extremely versatile option, ideal for those seeking a balance between performance and comfort. The goggles feature a dedicated design with dual-density frame technology: a rigid outer shell and a TPU inner layer with triple-density foam to enhance fit comfort, facial seal, and sweat management. Internal ventilation is provided by large air vents which, combined with premium anti-fog treatment, ensure excellent visibility in all conditions.

The lens, shaped to perfectly match the frame’s contours, is injection-molded and removable via a quick-release system. Compatible with prescription glasses, it features a 45 mm elastic strap and a removable nose guard.

Available in the Vulcan version (with a clear lens), the Vulcan Mirror version (with a mirrored lens), and the Vulcan Roll-off version. Also available is the Vulcan Enduro version, featuring a dual-lens design that, thanks to the air gap created between the two lenses, further prevents fogging and ensures a clear field of vision even in changing weather conditions.

The goggles are priced at €74.95 for the Acerbis Vulcan, €84.95 for both the Vulcan Mirror and the Vulcan Enduro, and €104.95 for the Vulcan Roll-off.

VITRION: for those looking for an affordable, reliable, and practical product

The Vitrion mask stands out for its practicality and simplicity, while still offering effectiveness and notable technical features. The design is distinguished by the inclusion of outriggers—a feature rarely found on products in this price range—which accommodate the 45mm strap and ensure proper positioning of the mask on the helmet. The soft frame, combined with triple-density foam, provides superior comfort. The lens is removable and features an anti-fog coating. This model is also compatible with prescription glasses and has a removable nose guard.

It is available in the Vitrion version with a clear lens and the Vitrion Mirror version with a mirrored lens.

The price is €44.95 for the Vitrion and €54.95 for the Vitrion Mirror.

VANGUARD KID: Designed for young riders

Rounding out Acerbis’s brand-new line of goggles is the Vanguard Kid, designed for younger riders and engineered to fit junior helmet shells. The design features a wide lens that covers the entire front of the frame.
The lens is replaceable and is injection-molded to ensure greater protection against impacts. The surface features a scratch-resistant and anti-fog coating. Comfort is guaranteed by the elastic frame structure and triple-density foam, with large openings to promote ventilation.

The goggles are available in the Vanguard Kid version, with a clear lens, priced at €34.95, and in the Vanguard Kid Mirror version, with a mirrored lens, priced at €44.95.

The range of accessories is also extensive, including clear, dark, mirrored, dual-lens, and photochromic lenses, as well as versions designed for roll-off systems or already equipped with a mounted system. Rounding out the offering is a practical goggle bag capable of holding up to four goggles with their accessories, which can be carried by hand, attached to a trolley, or converted into a backpack.

The 2026 FIM Motocross World Championships prepares for its third GP in as many weekends, taking us to the eighth round of the series at the challenging Motocenter Zelta Zirgs venue, near the town of Kegums for the MXGP of Latvia!

The general description of this track is always to say that it’s sandy, but there is definitely a harder base than the sand of the Benelux countries, meaning that good hardpack riders can find something for themselves to perform on as well!

Motocross World Championship action has been seen here since 2005, when Belgian Sven Breugelmans won his second Grand Prix on his way to that season’s MX3 world title.  The full MXGP series first came here in 2009, won by Antonio Cairoli, also on a KTM, with Potugal’s Rui Goncalves taking victory in MX2.  We have been back to the Zelta Zirgs, named after the “Golden Horse”, Latvian mythology’s symbol of strength and bravery, every year since then, with the standout event being the Motocross of Nations in 2014.  We even came here for three GPs in eight days to restart the Championship after the Coronavirus suspension was lifted in 2020.

This year the MXGP World Championship is being fought out between the top two riders here in last year’s GP. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing lead the way with their teenage prodigy Lucas Coenen, and after problems for Honda HRC Petronas rider Jeffrey Herlings in Germany, the Belgian now holds a 31-point advantage over the Dutch legend, who is going for an amazing tenth Grand Prix win at the circuit! Fifty points further back is Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP’s reigning World Champion Romain Febvre, who has yet to win here but is always a contender!  His teammate Pauls Jonass, Latvia’s only Motocross World Champion to date, finally makes it to his home GP after missing it through injury for the last three seasons! He sits just two points outside of the series top ten and will be fired up for his home round!

For the first time in Motocross history we have twin brothers, or indeed brothers of any age difference, leading two World Championships at the same time, as Red Bull KTM Factory Racing flyer Sacha Coenen wears the red plate at Kegums, holding it for the first time at the start of a race weekend. The title chase is closer in MX2 however, as defending Champion Simon Längenfelder is only three points behind the Belgian for Red Bull KTM Factory Racinng, but will be mindful of the fact that Sacha has won the last two MX2 GPs at the Latvian venue!  19 points off the lead is Spaniard Guillem Farres of the Triumph Factory Racing Team, but the home fans will be looking to the Reisulis brothers, Janis and Karlis of the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 squad, to be challenging for their first Grand Prix podium, especially as the younger of the two, Janis, has been getting closer to that top three throughout his rookie season!

The EMX250 European Championship sets up for its sixth round, which will mark the halfway point of the season for them, and the Venum BUD Racing Kawasaki pairing of Francisco Garcia from Spain and Jake Cannon from Australia lead the way, 30 points apart, while Danish rider Nicolai Skovbjerg holds third for Mx-Handel Racing Husqvarna. Local man Jekabs Kubulins has had an up and down season for JK Racing Yamaha, and has pace far better than his 14^th place in the standings might suggest!

The EMX125 European Championship Presented by FMF Racing fires into the second half of its series this weekend, and the Norman KTM Factory Rookies squad are dominating with their two Austrians, Moritz Ernecker and Ricardo Bauer, leading the way. Frenchman Sleny Goyer is still giving chase in third for Yamaha Europe Monster Energy MJC, and while there are no Latvian points scorers in this Championship so far, there should be a healthy dose of local support for the prodigious KTM MX Futures Estonian Lucas Leok, as he fights from tenth in the series!

The MXGP of Latvia often delivers some fantastic racing as the shifting sands test even the toughest of competitors, so don’t be missing this intense weekend of Motocross ahead of us!

Lucas Coenen looked immaculate with his double victory at last weekend’s Liqui Moly MXGP of Germany, and for sure his main rival Jeffrey Herlings will be hoping that their respective past records in Latvia hold true for another season!  The Belgian has finished second across multiple races at the Zelta Zirgs, including all three races in MXGP last year, for second overall, and in two of the three races in MX2 back in 2024, again claiming second overall! He even took a second in the only Sunday race he finished back in 2023!

In contrast, Herlings is coming to one of his best ever circuits. Literally, in terms of GP victories, his nine wins here are only matched by his nine at Valkenswaard, a venue we haven’t raced at for some time.  He’s been on the podium at Kegums 12 times from his 15 attempts, including his last six visits! Winner of the last three GPs here, and seven of the last nine individual races, his record here is nothing short of ridiculous, stretching back to only his second career victory anywhere, back in 2010.  Does this make him the favourite, or do we think of the sheer pace of Coenen this season, especially in the softer going of Sardegna?  There’s no way that the King of Kegums is going to give it away without a fight!

Romain Febvre has been a solid podium contender for almost as long as “The Bullet”, with six top three results in 13 visits, including third overall last year and third in the Qualifying Race. He hasn’t won an individual race since his first title defence in 2016, but one of the best sand riders ever from France cannot be discounted!

Neither can Tim Gajser, who is seven points back from Febvre for Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP, and he has four GP wins and six race wins to his name here, as well as his last attempt at a Qualifying Race win in 2024.  His teammate Maxime Renaux, just five points further back from the Slovenian, took a double race win here in his MX2 title season of 2021, but only a best of fifth in the premiere class.

Kay de Wolf continues to march up the points table for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing, moving up to sixth place after Germany thanks to the injury-enforced absence of Honda HRC Petronas’ Tom Vialle.  The Dutchman won his first ever overall GP here in 2023, and has either crashed or won in most of his outings since. The former MX2 World Champion will be hoping for nothing less than another podium result, while Vialle is uncertain to be riding at the site where he won a single GP back in 2020, but was third on his last visit in 2022. The Frenchman’s  Honda HRC Petronas teammate Ruben Fernandez, still eighth but closer after his German GP podium, has a surprisingly good record here, with fifth overall last year and a podium in 2022.

Another who enjoyed his first 2026 podium in Germany was Andrea Adamo, and the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing pilot will be looking for his first top three result of any kind at Kegums. His fellow Italian Alberto Forato moved into the series top ten with a sixth in Germany, and although he got an EMX250 podium here in 2019, sixth overall with a 4-9 scorecard in 2022 is his best in Latvia at GP level.

The other Kegums GP winner lining up in MXGP is Jago Geerts, who won three times in MX2, and took his best Sunday result yet in the MXGP class here with sixth overall last season.  The MRT Racing Team Beta rider will be hoping for something similar to lift himself from 19^th in this year’s Championship, while home hero Pauls Jonass will initially be happy just to be here after three years of missing out on his local fans’ adulation! He actually took second overall the last time he lined up at the Zelta Zirgs, with three second places across the weekend in 2022. Just a single race win in his MX2 title season of 2017, plus an EMX125 victory in 2013, look likely to remain his only victories from home territory, but the Kawasaki Racing Team MXGP man can certainly dream of more!

Be prepared for a stunning showdown this weekend in the MXGP class!

The timing could not be better for Sacha Coenen to wear his first ever red plate, apart from those earned on a Saturday, as he returns to the site of his first ever GP victory in 2024, which he repeated last year!  The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing rider was helped by a last lap crash from the lead for his teammate Simon Längenfelder in the 2025 GP, so the German can pick up the pace here to try and reverse that three-point gap between the two! He took last year’s Qualifying Race win, as well as podium trophies from each of the last two visits to Kegums. He needs to dig deep again this weekend!

Guillem Farres didn’t have a great GP in Germany, and he took eighth overall from his only visit to Latvia last season.  From fourth in the Championship, Liam Everts will be looking for his first Kegums podium for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing as he tries to claw back the 20 points to Farres.  He will likely be challenged by the other Triumph Racing Factory Team rider Camden McLellan, who is only three points behind the Belgian and stronger in the sand than his sixth here last year might indicate!

Mathis Valin is riding high from his first ever GP win last weekend for Kawasaki Racing Team MX2, and is on a three-GP podium streak as well, so he will be looking to repeat his 2023 EMX125 victory here and press forward from sixth in the Championship.

Behind him, though, is his successor as EMX250 Champion and absolute home favourite Janis Reisulis, and the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 rider pushed to this limit to enjoy a perfect day in EMX250 last year, sending the fans into raptures, and they will make intense noise for both him and brother Karlis, who also had a great weekend with his best ever Qualifying result of third last season. Valerio Lata is currently a point ahead of the elder brother for Honda HRC Petronas, and the Italian will be looking to remember his race win here in EMX250 two years ago, rather than his double DNF of last year!

Rounding out the top ten is Julius Mikula, and hopefully the likeable Czech racing for the Ošicka KTM Racing team has recovered well enough from his big crash of last weekend to defend that spot, although Kay Karssemakers will fancy his chances in the sand for Dixon Racing Kawasaki.

With all of their home heroes to cheer on in both major classes, the Latvian fans should generate another fantastic atmosphere around the Zelta Zirgs circuit, and we look forward to a brilliant GP as the top riders battle in the Baltics!
