Justin Timberlake Screen Tests for Green Lantern ?

Ain't It Cool News is reporting an unconfirmed rumor that Justin Timberlake is being considered for director Martin Campbell's Green Lantern :

Got an unconfirmed rumor that at Leavesden Studios - there's been some Warner Bros. screen testing on GREEN LANTERN and that Justin Timberlake was suiting up for the test. That does not mean that JT is going to be Hal Jordan, but just that he's one of the guys that they've been seriously considering for the role of our Emerald Knight.

We're pretty sure that the movie will be shot in Sydney, Australia, however, so we're puzzled as to why anything would be going on at Leavesden Studios in the UK.

Either way, Warner Bros. Pictures is planning a June 17, 2011 release for the film, so we should start hearing some official casting...

Warner Bros. and DC Comics Win Superman Case

Variety reports that Warner Bros. and DC Comics have won a favorable ruling in the suit filed by the heirs of "Superman" co-creator Jerome Siegel. Here are some excerpts from the ruling:

In a decision announced Wednesday, U.S. Judge District Court Judge Stephen G. Larson found that the license fees the studio paid to corporate sibling DC Comics didn't represent "sweetheart" deals as they weren't below fair market value. That means the heirs will be able seek profits only from DC Comics -- which earned $13.6 million from Warner Bros. for the 2006 release of "Superman Returns" -- rather than from Warner Bros. as well.

The judge, who conducted a 10-day bench trial, also noted that Warner Bros. chairman Alan Horn had testified that he hopes to make...

Zak Penn Talks The Avengers

CraveOnline talked to Zack Penn about his work on Marvel Studios' upcoming films and here's an excerpt:

CraveOnline: How is working for autonomous Marvel different from working under the studio collaborations?

Zak Penn: Pretty much night and day. Marvel, everyone there has read every comic. They’re big fans of it. We’ve kind of moved past the normal fights that you have and just talk about what would make a cool movie. Here’s the thing though. Once you get into the process of making a movie, compromise is like your life. Everything is a compromise. Even if everyone has the best intentions setting out on a movie, you can make a total piece of sh*t. I’ve learned this the hard way. It is really damn hard to make a good movie. If you ever manage it, be proud of yourself. It’s so...

Stan Lee to Appear in the Venom Spin-Off

At this point, it's a foregone conclusion that Marvel's former president and chairman Stan Lee will have a cameo in every single movie based on a Marvel Comics character whether or not he had any direct association with that character during his lengthy career. But how many of the upcoming movies can claim that he's already been written into the script?

When we spoke to Zombieland creators Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese a few months back, they were hesitant about saying much about the Venom script they'd been working on. (You can read what they could say here .) As we were going through our lengthy interview with them, we found a little missed tidbit that might thrill Marvel fans, as they admitted to us that Lee will appear in the Venom movie and that they've even already...

Besides setting a record for a June opening, surpassing 2004's Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban , Bay's latest grossed the second-largest amount over a five-day period after The Dark Knight...
