Today, Warner Bros. and DC dropped the first trailer for Supergirl (2026) — set to the iconic 80s hit “Call Me” by Blondie. The film adapts DC Comics’ Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and from the footage released, Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) brings a strikingly fresh edge to the character.

This Supergirl isn’t the clean-cut counterpart to Superman. She’s a hardened, 23-year-old Kryptonian still dissociating from the trauma of watching her planet, her people, and her parents die.

“He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth,” she says of her ever-optimistic cousin — a line that perfectly sets the tone for her starkly different worldview.

The trailer opens with an unusual appearance of Krypto, who is still being potty trained apparently.

DC Studios has released a new poster for the upcoming feature film “Supergirl”, signaling the start of the film’s global promotional campaign. Debuting with the bold tagline “Truth, Justice, Whatever,” the poster arrives just in time to coincide with the release of the first official teaser trailer for the film which will premiere tomorrow at 12:00PM (EST)

The film follows Kara Zor-El, portrayed by Milly Alcock (“House of the Dragon”, “Sirens”), in a transformative and far-reaching cosmic adventure. Paramount Skydance has made another offer to buy Warner Bros Discovery as it seeks to trump a rival plan from Netflix to buy the company’s studio and streaming networks.

Paramount, which is backed by the billionaire Ellison family, said it was making a direct offer to shareholders of $30 (£22.50) per share to scoop up the whole of Warner Bros, including its traditional television networks. It said its proposal was a “superior alternative” to Netflix’s, delivering more cash upfront to shareholders and greater prospect of approval by regulators.

President Donald Trump has said “there could be a problem” with Netflix’s purchase, pointing to competition concerns given the size of the companies.

The new Supergirl (2026) movie (originally titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”), will star “House of the Dragon” breakout Milly Alcock. The film will also star Eve Ridley as Ruthye Mary Knolle, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura, with Jason Momoa making an appearance as Lobo. The film is said to be based on Tom King’s “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” comic book saga.

While social media scoopers have claimed that it’s coming on Thursday, and while that’s yet to be confirmed, select members of the press in New York are currently attending a splashy launch event. That may seem a tad excessive for a teaser trailer, but DC Studios has made it a priority to schmooze a handful of big publications since launch. This event is the latest example, though Superman had a similar marketing campaign last December.

If Supergirl follows in the Man of Steel’s footsteps, you can expect a poster tomorrow. We may also get updates on plans for the wider DCU from co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Back to this sneak peek, and while it’s only a few seconds long, it depicts Milly Alcock’s Woman of Tomorrow looking vastly different from what you might expect. In a nod to Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book, the Kryptonian is shown dishevelled and waiting at an intergalactic bus stop, of sorts.
