You likely don’t envision one of Hollywood’s all-time leading men as a venerable baseball scout trying to prove his worth and restore his relationship with his daughter. However, that’s the exact role Eastwood played in Trouble With the Curve, which was released 14 years ago today, Sept. 21, 2012.

Eastwood, as scout Gus Lobel, led an underrated cast, which also included Amy Adams, who played his daughter Mickey. Justin Timberlake, Matthew Lillard, Robert Patrick, Jack Gilpin, John Goodman and others also had major roles.

Trouble at the box office

Despite that list of performers, Trouble With the Curve didn’t draw a lot of moviegoers. It had a robust reported budget of $60 million, but earned only $49 million at the box office.

That doesn’t make the film a box office flop, but it does indicate it was a disappointment revenue-wise.

Eastwood still earned high praise

Trouble With the Curve has a 51% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, where the critics’ consensus calls it “predictable and somewhat dramatically underwhelming.”

However, reviewers gave Eastwood strong marks for his “grizzled charisma and his easy chemistry with a charming Amy Adams.”

The Western Earned Major Recognition

The film wasn’t entirely overlooked in 2007. Pitt won the Volpi Cup for best actor at the Venice Film Festival for his performance as James.

Casey Affleck’s portrayal of Robert Ford and Roger Deakins’ cinematography subsequently earned Academy Award nominations. Deakins’ photography became one of the film’s defining elements; he has explained that the production used period handmade window glass because of the rippled effect it created when shooting or projecting light through it.

The movie itself refuses the easy pleasures of a conventional gunslinger story. Instead, its 160-minute running time turns Jesse James’ final months into a brooding examination of celebrity, obsession and the danger of idolizing someone from a distance.

Dreary red fog. Mysterious pipes. A man washed ashore with no memory of how or why he is in the Scottish town of St. Amelia. Dreamlike atmosphere. The perfect setup for the third Silent Hill game in three years. Silent Hill: Townfall is a difficult game to discuss without spoilers. Everything you have come to expect from this psychological survival horror franchise is present in Townfall, with some unexpected new elements.

Excellent sound design? Check. Oppressive and tense atmosphere? Check. Cryptic storytelling? Check. If this sounds familiar, that’s because it is. Townfall takes a lot of the same game design elements (and even some narrative elements) from Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake and puts a new spin on them, from Townfall‘s complex puzzles to its use of symbolism and allegorical storytelling. While not all of the game’s elements work well together, especially the game’s often frustrating combat and its dragged-out pacing, the game’s head-scratching puzzles, exploration, and emphasis on stealth make the game feel like a mash-up of Silent Hill 2 remake and Alien: Isolation.

If Silent Hill has three major focuses for different entries, they would be these: mixed action and puzzles from Silent Hill 2 remake; a heavy focus on combat from Silent Hill f; and, now, a heavy focus on puzzles with Silent Hill: Townfall. I think it’s incredible to get three different styles in three years and have all of the games be of high quality.

Again, not everything works well in Townfall, mainly because of the game’s absurd length, and I’m not sure if the emotional storytelling payoff is worth how cryptic the game’s story actually is, but somehow, the game kept me engaged from start to finish, and I desperately want to jump back in to see the other four endings.

If you go into Townfall expecting a puzzle-focused game with a mysterious narrative, you will be pleased with what Sand Burn Interactive has produced here. If you go in expecting an evolution of the franchise or engaging combat, then you will be disappointed. Either way, Townfall is definitely a game that I see Silent Hill fans debating for years to come.

Paint the Town Red

Silent Hill: Townfall follows the story of Simon, an American, who is called to the island town of St. Amelia in Scotland by a mysterious phone call. One that tells him to return to the town to “put things right.” That’s about all that can be said for the general plot without spoiling anything about the game.

The narrative here is arguably the most cryptic story in the entire Silent Hill franchise. You do get answers to why Simon is in St. Amelia, who this mysterious caller is, and what has happened to St. Amelia eventually. The game’s heavy use of symbolism and inner psychological turmoil is cranked to the max, making the game feel a lot like Silent Hill 2 more than any other game in the series.

However, overall, I do not think Townfall‘s story is quite as engaging as Silent Hill 2‘s, but that is hardly fair; Silent Hill 2 is widely considered to be one of the best narrative games of all time. The game’s enigmatic story is more complex than what was presented in last year’s Silent Hill f, to the point where I do see fans potentially debating a lot more about this game’s narrative quality.

What’s presented here is engaging, and you will want the answers to the game’s mysteries. However, because of the game’s roughly 20-hour runtime, I do think some players may want the answers to the game’s questions much faster than what the game gives you.

Within the first couple of hours, you will be wondering why Townfall‘s Otherworld is full of pipes and harsh red fog that makes the town look like a boiler room. You’ll be wondering who Simon even is and how he got to St. Amelia. You’ll be wondering why there is a random scalpel used to open doors around the town. You will get those answers…15 hours later. There is plenty of foreshadowing and literary motifs to analyze and digest for Silent Hill fanatics, and I think the way the narrative is designed is superb. I just wish the payoff for the story’s mysteries was as satisfying as the setup for all of the unknown.

Besides Simon, there are only two other characters in the game: Zoe and Richard. Both of them have a massive role in the game, and Silent Hill: Townfall also does something that no other Silent Hill game has ever done with its cast of characters. I was pleasantly surprised when I found out what it was, so I will refrain from discussing that part further.

Zoe is a nurse in St. Amelia. She is the person Simon is trying to find near the beginning of the game. Her role, in particular, I think, will be hotly debated between fans. She has the dreamlike mood and secretive dialogue that ultimately leads to the game revealing her involvement with Simon, Richard, and St. Amelia, but I also think she is part of the story that I wish would’ve been explored further, as Simon and Richard both get more time to shine and have clearer character puzzles to solve about who they are and what’s going on.

Richard is virtually impossible to talk about without spoilers. To put it simply, he assists Simon through the game’s payphones and CRTV radio system, but there is much more to his role than just that.

What Townfall does incredibly well, though, is put an emphasis on St. Amelia as not just a town but as a major character. It’s the game’s representative of all the townspeople who have mysteriously vanished. Through the game’s excellent environmental storytelling, St. Amelia feels like one of the most realistic towns I’ve ever played in any survival horror game. Instead of focusing on just one character and his or her circumstances, Townfall focuses on the entire town and what happened to everyone and why. This is not just Simon’s story; it’s the story of St. Amelia, and that distinction is what separates Townfall from the rest of the Silent Hill games.

I walked away from the story satisfied with my time with it. There are five different endings to the game, three of which are obtainable on a first playthrough. The other two are New Game Plus-only endings. I’m not clear on what factors influence the ending result, other than that it has something to do with gameplay elements, similar to Silent Hill 2 remake. There is also an unlockable hard mode after finishing the game once, along with a few cosmetics and one weapon.

Slow and Steady

Silent Hill: Townfall is a deliberately slow-paced game. Simon moves fairly slowly. He pulls up the in-game map slowly (which returns from Silent Hill 2 remake). Townfall is, first and foremost, a puzzle-focused stealth game. You will not be drowning in ammo or resources in this game, except for one part about 75 percent of the way through the game (and there is a narrative reason why that one section is so heavy on combat and resources).

From a first-person perspective, you explore the town as Simon and gradually figure out where to go, find a large puzzle, and then backtrack to previous areas for items to complete the large puzzle before you can move on to the next area. Some of those areas contain smaller puzzles that have to be completed before obtaining the key item you need. This is basically the same level design style that was used in Silent Hill 2 remake, like having to return to the clock in the Apartment Otherworld after going to different parts of that area.

The puzzles themselves are the highlight of the game. While none of them are quite up to the level of the infamous Silent Hill 3 Shakespeare puzzle, I got stuck on a few of them. There is a Hinted difficulty mode for the puzzles to help you out, but even then, some of the puzzles are still challenging. The game is full of them, and they all bring out the best aspects of Townfall, from its environmental design to its clever narrative integration.

For example, there is a puzzle in the game that actively transforms the area you are in, forcing you to pay attention to what’s different and what can be used on the main puzzle that involves a cassette player. There is quite a bit of lore in that section, and the way that puzzle is integrated is one of the strongest points of the whole game.

However, some of the puzzles are a little too long and complex. The last one in the game, in particular, is quite cool, but it is a puzzle that took me more than two hours to complete because it required going to so many different areas, only to then return and have to continue the main puzzle. It felt like a Herculean task, and I do like that in parts of the game, but other times it just feels like unnecessary padding. That’s not factoring in all of the enemies and how fragile Simon is.

That brings me to one of my biggest criticisms of this game: the pacing. Townfall, simply, is too long for a survival horror game. There is an excessive amount of backtracking, and often, new enemies spawn when a section of a puzzle is complete, which forces you to play even more slowly through those areas you’ve already seen before. Much like the main narrative, the game is a slow burn, but it burns too slowly at certain points.

Sneak on the Streets

When not solving puzzles or in cutscenes, you will be exploring areas of St. Amelia and other “dungeon” areas. Again, quite similar to SH2 remake. There are hidden items to find and resources to gather off the beaten path, along with cleverly laid out clues about the game’s story and the events before the game takes place.

Paired with the game’s excellent sound design, exploring St. Amelia filled me with excitement and dread. It may not be as big as the titular Silent Hill town, but it is incredibly dense and offers a familiar but new take on the Silent Hill phenomenon.

Simon can find breakable wooden planks and iron pipes to fight enemies with. He can also find bottles for distractions and bricks for stunning enemies. There really aren’t that many weapons in the game, though, so the game heavily encourages stealth and not engaging with the game’s combat system, which is the other weaker part of the game.

Combat feels janky, and that is intentional, as Simon is not a fighter. He swings weapons wildly, he reloads his revolver very slowly, and he is not fast. In fact, a lot of them, if you’re caught and have to break stealth, enemies can often catch up to Simon, which brings me to the star of the game: the CRTV.

Early in the game, Simon acquires the CRTV radio, and it is used to track enemy movements through walls to plan routes to avoid getting spotted. It is also used for several narrative moments. Functionally, it is quite similar to the motion tracker in Alien: Isolation. Something that worried me in early previews was the thought: Why can’t I just run past enemies and ignore the radio mechanics? I’m glad to say the enemy AI is quite intelligent and will often catch you and eventually will chase you further than their “normal” patrol paths.

There is also an enemy in the game that one-hit kills you if you are grabbed by it, which is effectively like the Alien in Alien: Isolation, so even if you do manage to get by some enemies by running, you will have to still be stealthy at times.

Simon can also find hiding spots to escape from chases, but I found them to be fairly pointless, except for one area in the midpoint of the game, and it was mainly to avoid the one-hit-kill enemy. Still, they are there as an option if you run out of resources.

There are very few enemy types in the game, and fighting them can feel like a chore. The main enemies take around 4 handgun bullets to kill, and if you fight them in melee with a plank or a pipe, you can often get grabbed. The problem? You can be stunlocked when you are grabbed, leading to you getting grabbed again and dying, as the grab attacks cannot be blocked and there is no dodge. Luckily, the game’s auto-save system is generous. Additionally, the phones found throughout the town operate as both save points and narrative devices, and I found the balance of auto-saves and manual saves to be quite exhilarating; it truly felt like an old-school survival horror experience at times.

By designing the combat this way, the game values tension and stealth over direct combat, contrasting greatly with both Silent Hill f and Silent Hill 2 remake. There is also only one boss in the entire game. You’re here for the puzzles, story, and exploration. You deal with the combat when you have to. It’s certainly not the worst combat the series has ever had, but it isn’t great either.

Final Score: 8/10

Silent Hill: Townfall is a difficult game to put a score on because the game is so narrative-heavy, to the point where I’m questioning some of the things I wrote in this review. When it is at its best, when you’re solving the challenging puzzles, when you’re exploring, when you’re watching the story unfold–the game is mesmerizing, despite how little information you actually get throughout most of the game. It’s truly fascinating.

When some of the areas start to drag on and on and you’re required to backtrack several times for key items and smaller puzzles and you often get caught by spawning enemies, then the game feels frustrating at times.

Still, somehow, I really enjoyed my time with Townfall. I do not think it is as strong as Silent Hill f or Silent Hill 2 remake, but it is definitely the most interesting take on Silent Hill yet.

The game is a little derivative of Silent Hill 2, but it does just enough unique things to make it stand out on its own. The game’s $49.99 price tag is also appealing, especially for a game that is about 20 hours long and has a large amount of replay value.

I was intentionally vague about several things in this written review because the marketing for this game has also been intentionally vague. If you’re a survival horror fan or even a puzzle fan, definitely grab this game and watch the least amount of gameplay as possible, and you will likely enjoy your experience.

Now that we have three different styles of Silent Hill represented in the modern era and all three games are of high-quality, the future of Silent Hill has never been so bright, and I cannot wait to see what Bloober Team and Konami do with the Silent Hill 1 remake next.

Collider included the seven-episode series on its list of the best modern Westerns, while other critics have praised the show for its brutal depiction of life on the frontier.

The series isn’t part of Sheridan’s growing television universe, but it has many of the elements that have made shows such as Yellowstone and 1883 popular: complicated characters, violence, sweeping Western landscapes, and a story built around survival.

‘Godless’ Is One of Netflix’s Greatest 21st-Century Westerns

Godless arrived on Netflix in 2017 as a seven-episode limited series created by Scott Frank, who wrote and directed the entire series.

Collider has called it one of the greatest Western series of the 21st century, praising its performances, visuals, and approach to a familiar genre. Ultimately, the publication considers the show Netflix’s best Western. The series currently holds an 83 percent critics score and an 8.2 rating on IMDb, according to Collider.

The story takes place in 1884 and follows Roy Goode, an outlaw who turns against his former gang and ends up hiding in a small New Mexico mining town that is populated primarily by women.

That puts him directly in the path of Frank Griffin, the ruthless gang leader who raised him and is determined to find him.

The resulting conflict gives Godless the kind of sprawling Western story that has become increasingly popular on television, while keeping the entire narrative contained within seven episodes.

‘Godless’ Is a Brutal Western With a Different Kind of Story

The series doesn’t exactly offer a romantic version of the Old West. But that’s part of its appeal, and a huge part of why it’s praised for its historical accuracy.

Frank Griffin and his gang leave a trail of violence behind them as they search for Roy, while the residents of the isolated town of La Belle are forced to prepare for an attack.

That brutality is one reason Godless has continued to attract attention years after its Netflix debut. CBR has described the series as a brutal and underrated Western masterpiece, pointing to the show’s willingness to embrace the darker side of frontier life.

At the same time, the series isn’t simply built around violence. Much of the story focuses on the people living in La Belle and how they respond when they realize a dangerous gang is coming for them.

That gives Godless an ensemble quality that separates it from the traditional lone-gunslinger Western.

‘Godless’ Has Plenty for Taylor Sheridan Fans

While Sheridan had nothing to do with Godless, viewers who have become fans of his Western dramas may find plenty to like.

Sheridan’s Yellowstone helped bring the modern Western back into the television spotlight, while 1883 went further back into the Dutton family’s history and presented a much harsher version of frontier life.

Godless takes a similar interest in the people trying to survive in an unforgiving landscape, making it a seamless transition from the world of 1883.

There are also some familiar themes for Sheridan fans: competing ideas of power, violence as a means of survival, morally complicated characters, and communities forced to defend themselves.

The biggest difference is that Godless tells its story in just seven episodes. Rather than building an ongoing television universe, Frank’s miniseries has a beginning, middle, and end.

That makes it an especially easy watch for anyone who wants a substantial Western story without committing to multiple seasons.

‘Godless’ Is Still Streaming on Netflix

Nearly a decade after its debut, Godless remains one of Netflix’s notable modern Westerns.

The series was released in November 2017 and received strong reviews from critics, earning 12 Emmy nominations and three wins. Collider has also highlighted its sweeping landscapes and stylized violence as part of what makes the miniseries stand out within the Western genre.

For viewers who discovered Western television through Yellowstone, 1883, or another of Sheridan’s series, Godless offers a different take on the genre while delivering many of the same ingredients that make modern Western dramas so compelling.

The post is heartbreaking because it shows the potential; Gerber was forging a successful career as a model, just like his mom, supermodel Cindy Crawford. The final Instagram post is a series of modeling photos for a clothing line. Presley stands in a yard near foliage and a statue, and in some of the photos he is smiling like he is carefree.

The photos are now drawing tributes from grief-stricken fans and other celebrities. Gerber’s cause of death is not clear. He passed away at age 27 in a rehab facility; over the years, Presley was open about his mental health issues.

Presley Gerber Posted About Mental Health and Addiction

Presley Gerber’s other posts showcased his family, mom, dad Rande Gerber and model sister Kaia Gerber. The same clothing line posted a video that appears on his page showing the entire family.

“With a shared love of effortless style, a strong sense of community, and a relaxed approach to life, Rande, Cindy, Presley and Kaia Gerber perfectly embody the spirit of coastal California, and we are incredibly inspired to welcome them to the Vuori family,” the post says.

In March, he posted about addiction recovery and a psychoactive alkaloid used to treat substance abuse.

He described a “quiet moment before everything changed. i was absolutely terrified, and I knew I would be again if I ever had to face something like this (helps to not go into the situations you do that get ya there but that’s life sometimes).”

Added Presley: “My mantras were love yourself … gotta be the last time for this reason. letting go of control didn’t come easy, but I trusted there was something bigger than me guiding it. ‘The Magnificent Seven’ Is Getting a TV Remake

However, one particular remake on the horizon looks quite appealing, and it’s not even the first rework of this film. MGM+ has greenlit a TV series remake of The Magnificent Seven from Tom Kring.

This show is adapting the 1960 Western of the same name—which stars Yul Brynner, Eli Wallach, and Steve McQueen—but its source material is actually based on Akira Kurosawa‘s 1954 classic Seven Samurai.

The Magnificent Seven spawned three sequels: Return of the Magnificent Seven (1966), Guns of the Magnificent Seven (1969), and The Magnificent Seven Ride! (1972). It’s widely regarded as one of the greatest Westerns of all time, often appearing on various best-of lists and rankings. Of course, you probably recall the 2016 remake of the 1960 flick, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt. On the TV front, The Magnificent Seven (1998-2000) ran for two seasons on CBS.

As for MGM+’s eight-episode TV series, the main cast is pretty stacked:

The Lowdown

Kring serves as writer and executive producer, with Dillon also on board as executive producer. Per Deadline, the show synopsis reads as follows:

“Set in the tumultuous 1880s American frontier, The Magnificent Seven follows seven gifted but flawed mercenaries hired to protect a peaceful Quaker village after it is massacred by mercenaries working for a ruthless land baron trying to seize their land.

As the team embeds itself and prepares to defend against overwhelming odds, they grapple with a central question: Is violence acceptable to defend people whose faith is based on non-violence? The series explores the backstories of each of the Seven, what’s at stake for them, and why they choose this mission—delving into themes of honor, sacrifice, redemption, morality, and faith.”

The Magnificent Seven is currently in production in Calgary, where it began filming on June 1. Production is expected to wrap on Sept. 22. As for a potential premiere date, based on the shooting schedule, we could expect this Western remake to hit MGM+ sometime in 2027—perhaps early in the year (fingers crossed).

Little is known about Presley’s cause of death beyond the fact that he died in a rehab facility. He had a number of documented struggles throughout his relatively short life, and he opened up about his mental health issues due to a desire to help others. He found professional success, like his mother, on the runway as a model.

“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” Allie Jenkins, a spokesperson for Crawford and Rande Gerber told The Associated Press on September 20, as news broke about Presley’s death. The family did not reveal any other details. In addition to Presley, Crawford and Rande Gerber are parents to a daughter, Kaia Gerber, who also followed in her mom’s modeling footsteps (and looks remarkably like her).

Presley made the comments on a podcast, in which he revealed that he had struggled with mental health and depression and wanted to help others.

“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that, I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do,” he said on the Studio 22 podcast.

Presley said on the podcast that mental health “is an issue. It is such a big part of my life. It’s a 24/7 job, and there’s so much to it. That’s really what I want to do: help people, whether you’re depressed, you’re struggling with something that is having a negative effect on your body. I mean it could be anything, and there’s no judgment.”

He added, “I’ve seen a lot of stuff and I’ve learned a lot of things. What I hope I can do is have made the mistakes for some other people, so they don’t have to make the same mistakes that I made.”

Presley Gerber Started an Instagram Series About Mental Health

Gerber also started posting videos on Instagram called Mental Health Mondays.

“As life goes on, life makes you go through new experiences,” he said in one of those videos. “And therefore hopefully you learn from those things. So here I am.”

He added, “I’m back to share some of those things that can maybe relate to everybody. Today’s theme or topic, we are going to touch on finding common ground.”

In recovery, he said people discuss how to find common ground with someone. He said that, when people are recovering from addiction, “people tend to treat you like the age you started with your substance abuse for the rest of your life, and you’re just kind of stuck there.” He said he got used to people treating him a certain way and jumping to conclusions about what they were thinking about him.

He said a better approach was to find more out about the other person and “relate your experience” to them.

“Aww Presley my heart breaks for you,” a person wrote in the comment thread, as others also weighed in, offering tributes and expressing grief.

Cindy Crawford expressed support for her son when he posted about his prescription drug use. “Unfortunately, I’ve had a lot of loss in many different forms recently,” he said in an Instagram video that he later removed, according to CNN. “So that is not an excuse, but it’s the reason why I am where I’m at now.” Crawford responded on that post, “Presley — we love you and you are not alone.”

‘Creep’ by Radiohead Was Released on Sept. 21, 1992

That’s right; on this day, 34 years ago, Radiohead released “Creep” as their debut single to promote their first studio album, Pablo Honey. Interestingly, the iconic alternative rock/grunge track was never supposed to be released as a single. However, the band’s producers advised them to release it.

While lead vocalist and guitarist Thom Yorke penned most of the tune, Radiohead as a whole were credited as the writers, along with Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood. The latter duo wrote the 1972 pop rock song “The Air That I Breathe,” from which the band took elements to compose “Creep.”

Yorke provided more context regarding the meaning behind “Creep” in 1993:

“I have a real problem being a man in the ’90s… Any man with any sensitivity or conscience toward the opposite sex would have a problem. To actually assert yourself in a masculine way without looking like you’re in a hard-rock band is a very difficult thing to do… It comes back to the music we write, which is not effeminate, but it’s not brutal in its arrogance. It is one of the things I’m always trying: To assert a sexual persona and, on the other hand, trying desperately to negate it.”

The song itself is about a drunk man trying to work up the courage to chat with a woman to whom he’s attracted. It was inspired by Yorke purportedly following a woman around after she attended a Radiohead concert.

One of the Greatest Songs of All Time

“Creep” wasn’t a commercial success right out of the gate, but it eventually broke into the American mainstream, becoming popular on the radio there. Critically, the track was mostly well received, with retrospectives like The New Yorker‘s 2001 piece praising it as “majestic.”

Even over three decades later, Radiohead’s signature song is still being recognized on various best-of lists and rankings. Rolling Stone included “Creep” in the 2021 and 2024 editions of its “500 Greatest Songs of All Time” list.

“Creep” peaked at No. 34 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, but it fared better on the US Alternative Airplay chart, climbing to No. 2. Its commercial and critical success paved the way for Radiohead’s sophomore effort, The Bends (and their magnum opus, OK Computer).

Radiohead moved away from the grungier sound of “Creep” with their subsequent releases. Yorke famously loathes the band’s first single, calling it “crap” and even telling a concertgoer, “F*ck off, we’re tired of it,” after this person requested that Radiohead play “Creep.” Ouch.

Earlier this summer, the airline officially announced a partnership with Chase that will bring lounges to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, BWI, Honolulu and Nashville, which are expected to be completed by 2027.

Before that move, Southwest made the polarizing decision to change to its boarding process, with travelers selecting an assigned seat rather than being assigned a boarding group.

“All tickets purchased for travel starting Jan. 27, 2026, will feature assigned seating. Moreover, Southwest Airlines Customers can choose their preferred fare bundle, including the opportunity to purchase assigned and premium seating and select a seat at booking,” the airline said in a statement at the time.

And yet that’s not all.

Southwest Making Sweeping Changes Amid Rising Fuel Prices

Southwest Airlines and rivals American Airlines and United Airlines are all scaling back planned flight schedules following a ‌recent surge in fuel prices that threatens their profits, according to a report from Reuters.

“Southwest said it had already cut its planned 2026 capacity growth roughly in ​half because of higher fuel prices and could trim further if fuel costs remained elevated,” the report read.

Southwest Chief Financial Officer Tom Doxey said autumn revenues were running ahead of expectations, which helped to offset rising fuel prices. However, the airline is still planning to cut capacity as fuel prices rise.

Southwest Airlines Faces Growing Problem

Those changes are the only issues for Southwest, though.

According to data from Cirium, published by View From the Wing, Southwest Airlines only completed 68.28% of completed flights arrived within 15 minutes of schedule. Yet it completed 99.22% of its flights, easily the best result in North America.

Taylor Sheridan’s spy thriller, Lioness Season 3, just ended on a massive cliffhanger, leaving fans clamoring for more.

So, has Lioness been renewed for a Season 4 yet? Short answer: no, but that’s never the full story.

A delay in renewals is not uncommon. Paramount+ didn’t renew Lioness for a third season for nearly a year, but cast member and producer Jill Wagner believes there will be one soon. In an interview with ScreenRant, Wagner bet $100 publicly that, based on the trajectory of Sheridan’s story, there will be a fourth season. Leaving the season on a cliffhanger certainly suggests that Sheridan thinks the same.

There has been movement towards a renewal, though, with screenwriter Michael Idov confirming he joined the writers’ room for Lioness. Unfortunately, nothing is official until the studio confirms it.

Since Paramount+ and Sheridan seem to have a good working relationship, with Sheridan consistently delivering some of his best work to the platform with shows like Yellowstone, Landman, and Tulsa King, there is reason to think the show will be renewed.

Odds are the high-profile series regulars like Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, and Morgan Freeman will return for a fourth season. The cast also includes Wagner, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Michael Kelly, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Jonah Wharton, and Stephanie Nur.

After a high-intensity penultimate episode in which Cruz (De Oliveira) helps save Joe from her captors, viewers were left wondering what’s next. The season finale did not disappoint. The Season 3 finale of Lioness ended on a serious cliffhanger with the reveal that Joe was abducted for reasons set up in Season 1, and Nur’s Aaliyah Amrohi wanted her abducted.

Cruz befriended Aaliyah in Season 1 to get close enough to kill her father. The operation went awry when they fell in love. She ultimately still kills Aaliyah’s father and is pulled out, dealing with the emotional impact of what she has done. She later moves on with Josie (Genesis Rodriguez), but Aaliyah’s return may put their relationship in jeopardy.

Aaliyah is out for revenge. In the finale, Belarusian contractor Alex, played by Sandi Todorovic, tells Joe as much, saying that whoever hired the Iran-backed Iraqi militia known as the KSS was “seeking revenge.” However, he didn’t know who they were.

Aaliyah stays determined, saying, “Try again. Maybe third time’s the charm.” She then says, “We have to get her out. If we get her out, the others will come to save her. And then we have them all,” laying out her plan for viewers clearly: take down Lioness.

After narrowly saving Joe from abduction, Season 4 would likely have Joe and the team hunting Aaliyah down. They will be grappling with both how to stop this new threat and, most likely, the consequences of their job. Many of the consequences will also likely continue to affect the operatives’ personal lives. For instance, in Sunday’s finale, Joe’s husband Neal (Annable) seems to have moved out and taken the children with him, something that was a long time coming.

So, although Lioness has not been renewed for a Season 4 just yet, there is a lot of story to tell.

Edie Falco has been cast as the star of Katie Greaves, a new legal drama that has been ordered to series by Fox for the 2027-28 television season. The series has already drawn comparisons to The Lincoln Lawyer, giving fans of Netflix’s popular legal drama another show to keep an eye on.

Falco is best known for The Sopranos and Nurse Jackie, but she has spent the past several years taking on a number of dramatic roles, including Nina Hobbs on Mayor of Kingstown, which is heading into its 5th (and final?) season. Now she’s trading the prison system for the courtroom.

Edie Falco Is Starring in ‘Katie Greaves’

Falco will play the titular Katie Greaves, a former New Hampshire public defender who stepped away from her career following a devastating personal tragedy.

She is now raising her two young granddaughters with her husband when she is pulled back toward the work that once defined her. Each episode will follow Greaves as she takes on new cases while trying to balance her career with her family life.

The series comes from writer and executive producer Sharr White, whose previous credits include Presumed Innocent, The Affair, and Palm Royale. Ridley Scott and his Scott Free Productions are also behind the project.

Katie Greaves Has Already Been Compared to The Lincoln Lawyer

Collider refers to Katie Greaves as a rival of Lincoln Lawyer. The comparison to The Lincoln Lawyer comes from the show’s focus on a defense attorney taking on new cases while navigating the complications of her personal life.

Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer follows Mickey Haller, a Los Angeles defense attorney who works cases from the back seat of his Lincoln Town Car. The series, based on Michael Connelly’s novels, has become one of Netflix’s established legal dramas.

Katie Greaves is taking a different route with its central character, but the case-driven structure and focus on a defense attorney make the comparison fairly natural. Since Lincoln Lawyer is cancelled after its next season airs, perhaps Falco’s new show is poised for a successful takeover after all.

Edie Falco Is Leaving ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ Behind

Falco’s casting is particularly notable for fans of Mayor of Kingstown.

She joined the Paramount+ series as Nina Hobbs, the prison warden at the center of the show’s complicated world of incarceration, crime, and power. The series stars Jeremy Renner as Mike McLusky and was created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon.

Mayor of Kingstown is currently preparing for its fifth and final season. Production began in Pittsburgh in March 2026, with Falco returning alongside Renner and a cast that includes David Morse, Hugh Dillon, Laura Benanti, and Taylor Handley.

That means Falco’s next series will arrive as Mayor of Kingstown approaches the end of its run.

When Will Katie Greaves Premiere?

Fox has ordered Katie Greaves for the network’s 2027-28 season, although a specific premiere date has not yet been announced. The series is currently being developed under the working title Katie Greaves, so that name could still change before the premiere.

The Savant pulled off something much stranger.

Jessica Chastain’s eight-episode Apple TV thriller had a trailer, key art, a Sept. 26, 2025 premiere date and an entire weekly release schedule stretching into November. Critics had already seen it. Then, three days before the first two episodes were supposed to arrive, Apple pulled the series indefinitely.

Nearly a year later, somebody has apparently found the key to the vault.

Apple TV has now scheduled The Savant for spring 2027, Deadline reports. The series stars Chastain as a top-secret investigator who infiltrates online hate groups while trying to identify extremists before they carry out violent attacks. It was inspired by Andrea Stanley’s 2019 Cosmopolitan story about a real-life anonymous investigator known as “the Savant.”

The timing of the original postponement immediately drew attention. Apple pulled the show shortly after the Sept. 10, 2025 assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, while The Savant deals directly with domestic extremism and politically motivated violence. Apple, however, never publicly said Kirk’s killing was the reason. Its official explanation went no further than saying the company had made the decision “after careful consideration.”

The Oscar winner, who also executive produces the series, said she was “not aligned” with Apple’s decision and argued that the subject matter made the show more urgent, not less.

This isn’t the first time The Savant appeared ready to escape.

In April, Chastain publicly confirmed, “We’re going to see it,” while Variety reported that sources said Apple was targeting July 2026. Five months later, Apple’s own TV listing still labels the series as a 2025 show with the noncommittal status: “Coming Soon.”

There may also be some strategy behind the new window. Deadline reports that the exact spring timing is still being finalized to make The Savant eligible for the 2027 Emmys. 

This isn’t some unfinished production Apple could quietly abandon. The entire eight-episode season had gone out to critics before the delay; at least one review later called the series “essential television.” Apple had even announced exactly how it planned to distribute the episodes: two on premiere day, then one every Friday through Nov. 7.

So spring 2027 will be something increasingly rare in streaming: not merely a premiere, but a resurrection.

Assuming, of course, it makes it out this time.

A new biopic about Pete Rose is moving closer to production, with Mark Wahlberg set to portray Major League Baseball’s all-time hits leader. Wahlberg recently provided an update on the long-developing project, saying the film could begin production in early 2027.

The movie will focus on a particularly important stretch of Rose’s career, including his pursuit of baseball’s all-time hits record, his time as a player-manager for the Cincinnati Reds, and the events surrounding his betting scandal.

Wahlberg has been attached to the Pete Rose project for some time, and the actor says the script is now getting close to where the filmmakers want it.

“We’ve been working on Pete Rose for quite some time,” Wahlberg said on The Rich Eisen Show, according to Sports Illustrated. “We’re hoping to be in production sometime in early ’27.”

Wahlberg also revealed that the film won’t attempt to tell every part of Rose’s lengthy baseball career. Instead, the story will concentrate on the latter portion of his playing career and his transition into managing the Reds.

“This is Pete when he’s about to break the record,” Wahlberg said. “When he’s managing and when he’s dealing with Giamatti and all that stuff.”

That puts the story primarily in the 1984-1989 period.

Rose’s pursuit of the all-time hits record will be one of the central pieces of the film.

On Sept. 11, 1985, Rose collected his 4,192nd career hit, passing Ty Cobb’s record (which he held for 57 years). Rose ultimately finished his career with 4,256 hits, a mark that remains the most in MLB history.

By that point, Rose was already one of baseball’s most recognizable stars. He spent the first 16 seasons of his career with the Reds before joining the Philadelphia Phillies in 1979. After seven seasons with Philadelphia and the Montreal Expos, he returned to Cincinnati to finish his playing career.

Rose retired as a player following the 1986 season but continued managing the Reds. That part of his career will also play a major role in Wahlberg’s movie.

The movie won’t stop with Rose’s historic achievement, of course.

Wahlberg indicated that the story will also deal with Rose’s relationship with then-MLB Commissioner A. Bartlett Giamatti and the investigation into Rose’s gambling on baseball. Rose was banned from Major League Baseball in August 1989 after the league determined that he had bet on baseball games.

That gives the movie a natural dramatic arc. Rose’s pursuit of one of the most significant records in baseball history will be followed by the controversy that ultimately ended his career in the sport.

Rose maintained that he never bet against his own team, but his gambling became one of the defining controversies of his post-playing career. Wahlberg summed up the challenge of portraying Rose simply: “He lived a very colorful life.”

The project is moving forward, but there are still plenty of details that haven’t been announced.

Wahlberg said production is expected to begin in early 2027, although there is no confirmed filming location yet. It also remains unclear when the completed movie will be released.

The Swedish pop star had been scheduled to join Lewis Capaldi at an after-race concert on Dec. 3, ahead of the Formula 1 season finale at Yas Marina Circuit. After one Instagram commenter asked Larsson to read about the UAE’s alleged role in Sudan and cancel the show, she replied, “I will not be going to Abu Dhabi.” The comment was later deleted, but screenshots quickly circulated online.

Larsson subsequently offered a fuller explanation. She wrote that she wants to perform for people in every country because individuals should not be equated with their governments. Still, after considering the appearance, she said that not doing the show aligned with her “the most right now,” citing several personal reasons beyond politics. She also acknowledged that her original answer may have appeared impulsive.

That distinction is important. Larsson did not simply hint that she might withdraw; her follow-up said she had decided not to perform. However, the organizers had not formally reflected that decision at the time of publication. The official Abu Dhabi Grand Prix website continued to list Larsson and Capaldi as Thursday’s performers, while advertising tickets for the Dec. 3–6 race weekend.

Larsson’s announcement also arrived amid speculation that Formula 1 could relocate the Abu Dhabi race because of instability in the Middle East. Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said in July that the sport could end its season in Europe if the races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi could not proceed, with Imola identified as one possible replacement. He emphasized at the time, however, that both Gulf races remained confirmed. As of Sept. 21, Abu Dhabi organizers were still promoting the event and selling tickets.

That overlap has led some observers to question whether the uncertain race calendar played a part in Larsson’s decision. There is currently no evidence establishing that connection. The singer tied her decision to personal considerations following pressure over Sudan, while neither she nor Formula 1 said that her appearance was abandoned because the race was moving. Until F1 announces a change, relocation remains a contingency rather than a confirmed explanation for her withdrawal.

The criticism directed at Larsson centers on the UAE’s relationship with the Rapid Support Forces, the paramilitary organization fighting Sudan’s military in a civil war that began in April 2023. Sudan cut diplomatic relations with the UAE in May 2025 after accusing the Gulf nation of supplying the RSF with advanced weaponry. The UAE has repeatedly denied supporting the group.

The conflict has produced what the United Nations has called the world’s most severe humanitarian crisis, displacing millions of people and exposing civilians to mass killings, sexual violence, famine, and attacks on essential infrastructure. By appearing at one of the UAE’s most visible international sporting events, critics argued, Larsson would help provide entertainment, and global cultural legitimacy, to a state facing serious questions about its foreign policy.

The pressure intensified partly because of Larsson’s own public record. She has been vocal about Palestinian rights, abortion access, women’s rights, and immigration. Days before the Abu Dhabi exchange, she expressed respect for Macklemore after the rapper was removed from Ed Sheeran’s tour following pro-Palestinian remarks. “I respect that so much,” Larsson said when asked about Macklemore speaking publicly. “It is so powerful to see how everyone can come together and make a difference.”

Once an artist presents speaking out as a moral responsibility, fans are likely to examine where that responsibility begins and ends. Larsson’s Abu Dhabi booking quickly became a test of whether the principles she praised in another artist would affect her own professional decisions.

That scrutiny exposes a complicated reality for musicians whose careers cross borders. Fans increasingly treat festival appearances, tour stops, sponsorships, and sporting-event concerts as political choices rather than neutral business decisions. A performance can be interpreted as an endorsement of its host, even when the artist views it as a show for ordinary listeners rather than a government.

There is a legitimate reason for that pressure. Major international events can help governments project openness, prestige, and cultural relevance. A celebrity’s participation has value beyond the performance itself, particularly when the event is attached to a globally televised sport such as Formula 1. Artists also possess leverage that most individual fans do not: withdrawing can draw attention to a crisis that receives far less coverage than the celebrity making the decision.

But the demand for perfect consistency can expand almost without limit. If performing in a country implies approval of its government, artists could face calls to avoid a substantial portion of the world. Critics may also ask why one conflict prompts a cancellation while another does not, or why a performer rejects a show abroad while continuing to work in countries whose governments face their own allegations of human-rights abuses.

Some social-media users made exactly that argument after Larsson’s announcement, questioning why she would cancel an appearance in the UAE while continuing to perform in the United States. The comparison does not necessarily invalidate her decision. It does demonstrate how quickly one act of protest can become an expectation that the artist account for every other place she works.

There is no simple standard that resolves that problem. Artists can consider who funds an event, whether the appearance is state-backed, what symbolic purpose it serves, the severity and immediacy of the alleged abuses, and whether withdrawing is likely to help affected communities. They can also explain their reasoning without pretending that every decision will be perfectly comprehensive.

Larsson’s own statement recognizes part of this tension. Her insistence that citizens are not their governments pushes against the idea that refusing a performance should be understood as rejecting local fans. At the same time, her decision acknowledges that a concert is not always isolated from the institution, location, and political context surrounding it.

For now, one practical question remains unresolved: when will the Grand Prix and concert organizers formally remove Larsson from the lineup? Her statement makes her intention clear, but the unchanged event page shows the gap that can exist between a celebrity announcement and an official booking update.

The larger debate will last well beyond one Formula 1 weekend. Fans increasingly expect artists who speak about injustice to carry those values into their contracts and tour calendars. Larsson has now done that in Abu Dhabi. The response shows both the influence of that choice and the nearly impossible standard of consistency that follows it.

In his first televised interview since the case went to trial, Patrick spoke with CBS News’ “60 Minutes” correspondent Ross Douthat about the deaths of his children, his grief and the aftermath of the case. The interview aired Sunday, Sept. 20.

Patrick recalled asking Lindsay whether she remembered what happened to their children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months old.

“She said it was like a dream and she remembered much in the way you would remember a dream after waking up,” he said.

The children were killed at the family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts, on Jan. 24, 2023. Patrick told “60 Minutes” that when he returned home that day, he found Lindsay seriously injured outside the house and the children inside. Cora and Dawson had died, while Callan was taken to Boston Children’s Hospital.

“I really thought there was a chance that Callan would live,” he said. “I remember just thinking, ‘Just give me one, just give me one kid’ and I would raise him as best I could and I would give him the best life I possibly could,” he said.

Callan survived for four days before dying in Patrick’s arms.

Lindsay’s trial began in July 2026. Her defense argued that her postpartum psychosis left her unable to be held criminally responsible for her actions. Prosecutors disputed the defense’s argument and maintained that she was criminally responsible. 

On Sept. 4, the trial ended in a mistrial after the jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict. 11 of the 12 jurors reportedly favored finding Lindsay not criminally responsible, while one juror disagreed. 

Prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will seek a retrial. Lindsay remains in a psychiatric facility while the court considers the next steps in the case. Her attorney has also asked the judge to prevent a second trial and to acquit her, with a hearing scheduled for Sept. 29. 

The conversation with Lindsay was one of several deeply personal moments Patrick discussed during the interview. He said he ultimately forgave his ex-wife, explaining that he believes her mental illness played a role in what happened.

“I think when it comes to forgiveness, I also felt that if I didn’t get there, I would be eaten up inside forever,” Patrick said. 

Patrick also spoke about the conspiracy theories that spread across social media during Lindsay’s trial. Online users accused him of being involved in his children’s deaths and questioned his actions and character, despite there being no evidence presented publicly that he killed the children.

“It’s deeply harmful to the legacy of my children,” he said. “It is a huge distraction from what really matters here, which is perinatal mental health. And it’s done real harm to real people — myself included, but also others.”

He continued, “It’s painful to see, and it makes it difficult to be in public. And it’s possible that some of those people, after seeing lie after lie after lie, start to believe it. And that’s what we’re left with.”

Patrick said he has also struggled with his own mental health following the deaths. He told Douthat that there was a period when he did not think he would live to see his 35th birthday.

After the tragedy, Patrick moved from Duxbury to New York City, where he said he hoped to grieve away from the public attention surrounding the case. He has since remarried Dr. Rachel Danis, a fertility doctor in New York. The couple married in April and told “60 Minutes” that they are planning to start a family. 

For Spring/Summer 2027, TTSWTRS transformed Nine Orchard in Manhattan into an immersive version of Wonderland where clothing, film, artificial intelligence, and virtual reality existed inside the same story. Rather than asking guests to simply watch models pass by, the presentation invited them to move between a physical fashion installation and a computer-generated world.

That approach felt like a natural extension of TTSWTRS itself. Pronounced “tattoo sweaters,” the label was founded in Kyiv in 2013 by costume designer and stylist Anna Osmiekhina. It began as a collaborative project that placed tattoo imagery on close-fitting garments, creating the illusion that printed fabric was part of the wearer’s skin.

The brand has since expanded beyond its original tattoo-inspired pieces, but the body remains central to its work. Its collections frequently examine identity, self-expression, and the point at which clothing stops looking like something worn over the body and begins to appear like an extension of it.

For “Wonderland,” Osmiekhina applied that idea to an entire environment.

At the center of the presentation was an original AI-generated film conceived by TTSWTRS and created with Katsukokoiso.ai, the artistic identity of Milan-based photographer and AI artist Eugenio Marongiu. A mysterious rabbit guides viewers into an initially serene landscape filled with animals, unfamiliar creatures, and softly rendered natural forms.

That calm gradually deteriorates. The imagined landscape becomes a darker reflection of a world shaped by overproduction, excess, and a growing separation from nature. The film eventually changes direction again, arriving at a future in which the environment has been restored and humans have learned to coexist with the other living things around them.

Wonderland, in this interpretation, is not simply somewhere to escape. It represents a future that has not been decided yet.

Guests entered that digital environment through HTC VIVE Focus Vision headsets, with models serving as intermediaries between the physical presentation and the virtual film. HTC’s VIVE Eagle AI glasses were also displayed during the event, while a DJ set from Guillotine helped establish the transition between the two spaces.

The technology may have provided the most obvious futuristic element, but the garments themselves depended heavily on physical construction and handwork.

One look, called “Porcelain,” covered the body in approximately 700 acrylic-glass fragments. The smallest pieces were concentrated around the solar plexus before increasing in size across the figure, suggesting the aftermath of an impact traveling outward from the body’s most vulnerable point.

Creating the garment required its original form to be sculpted on a mannequin and then separated into individual components. Those pieces were painted, laser-cut, and assembled again by hand. Around 2,500 holes were manually stitched to turn what resembled shattered porcelain into a three-dimensional reconstruction of the body.

“Petals” approached transformation more gently. Approximately 350 individually formed silk petals were painted and sewn into a dress to create the impression that roses were growing directly across its surface. The density of the flowers made the wearer appear less like someone dressed for the garden than someone gradually becoming part of it.

The “Raffia” look pushed that idea into stranger territory. Raffia was stitched, knitted, heated, and trimmed into a mushroom-like silhouette that appeared highly structured despite the flexibility of the material beneath it. A knitted headpiece covered in individually threaded strands completed a figure that looked botanical but not entirely human.

Other looks addressed the less inviting parts of TTSWTRS’ imagined future. “The Web” used hundreds of moving strands and an oversized, face-obscuring hood to evoke the endless flow of information, social media, and digital noise surrounding everyday life. A hand-sculpted latex flower was incorporated into the hood, which required approximately 50 hours of manual work.

The result could be read as both protection and confinement: a shell created from the same network that threatens to overwhelm the person inside it.

“X-Ray” examined the private worlds people carry beneath familiar appearances. Its printed bodysuit revealed additional arms, body fragments, and pieces of clothing that seemed to exist inside the figure. A cotton corset gave the silhouette structure while the print created the impression of looking through the body instead of at its surface.

The collection’s most recognizable Wonderland reference appeared in “Red Queen.” Inspired by the image of white roses being painted red, the look considered the pressure to reshape oneself to satisfy outside expectations. Traces of white remained visible within the red composition, while exaggerated shoulders, hips, and pelvic forms altered the body’s natural proportions.

That tension between natural and synthetic ran through the entire presentation. Flowers appeared alive in one look and trapped beneath an icy surface in another. Organza became the pink plumage of a flamingo. Fringe stopped functioning as decoration and instead built new contours around the body.

The contrast extended beyond the clothes. TTSWTRS used generative technology to imagine organic landscapes while relying on slow, highly manual techniques to create the physical garments inhabiting them. The presentation did not position one method as a replacement for the other. Instead, the digital and handmade elements depended on each other to complete the experience.

Fashion brands are increasingly experimenting with virtual try-ons, generated campaigns, and immersive retail environments. TTSWTRS used the technology differently. Its virtual world was not there simply to make the clothes easier to purchase or the presentation easier to share. It expanded the collection’s argument about nature, identity, attention, and the kinds of futures people are creating through their present choices.

That makes “Wonderland” more than an Alice-inspired theme or a showcase for new hardware. It is a proposal for what a fashion presentation can become when the runway, screen, and garment are treated as parts of the same world.

The result was less about predicting what comes next than examining the world already taking shape. By moving between beauty and destruction, the natural and the synthetic, TTSWTRS used Wonderland to ask what people may lose, and what they might still preserve, before fantasy becomes reality.

The Climate Prediction Center’s latest 6–10 day outlook, valid Sept. 26–30, favors below-normal temperatures across Washington and parts of the Pacific Northwest. NOAA also identifies a smaller pocket of below-normal temperatures in parts of the Mid-Atlantic, creating two cool exceptions to a predominantly warm national map.

NOAA Reveals What’s Driving the Colder Weather

The sharpest contrast is in the Pacific Northwest. While NOAA favors near- to above-normal temperatures across most of the contiguous United States, Washington is the only Lower 48 state classified below normal in the agency’s state-by-state 6–10 day temperature table.

The reason is a changing Pacific weather pattern.

“Below-normal temperatures are forecast over parts of the Pacific Northwest,” the Climate Prediction Center said, attributing the shift to “troughing moving into the northeastern Pacific.”

Forecasters also expect below-normal temperatures in parts of the Mid-Atlantic, with NOAA citing support from its temperature forecast tools.

Most of the US Faces the Opposite Pattern

The cooler pockets stand out because much of the country is heading the other direction.

“Probabilities for near- to above-normal temperatures are increased across most of the CONUS,” NOAA said. Southern Texas has the strongest warm signal, with probabilities of above-normal temperatures exceeding 60%.

The CPC outlook carries an “Average, 3 out of 5” confidence rating. NOAA attributes that assessment to “good model agreement” across much of the forecast area, offset by “decreasing predictability” around the North Pacific.

The cold signal may also be short-lived. NOAA’s 8–14 day outlook, covering Sept. 28–Oct. 4, returns Washington and Oregon to near-normal temperatures while favoring above-normal temperatures across much of the rest of the country.

And now, with its limited theatrical re-release, The Transformers: The Movie is taking something of a belated victory lap. Though the film did roughly $5 million in box office earnings back in 1986, today, after being out for just four days on limited screens, The Transformers somehow ended up as the eighth most successful movie in theaters for the weekend ending on Sunday, September 20, 2026. That’s right, the 1986 Transformers made a decent impact at the box office, drawing in a respectable $4.2 million, which, if we don’t account for inflation, is about the same amount the movie made for its entire theatrical run in 1986, but, in this case, the movie earned that much in just a few days.

Since the 2007 live-action Transformers reboot film from Michael Bay, various incarnations of the Autobots and Decepticons have been churned out for the big screen and small screen, sometimes with massive praise (like Travis Knight’s 2018 movie Bumblebee) and other times (like the 2024 release Transformers: One) quickly forgotten.

And yet, the classic 1986 film, with its iconic animation style straight from the original cartoon, still holds up. Maybe it’s time to just go back to the original 1980s versions of The Transformers, and forget everything else.

Nostalgia might be something that certain critics and pundits aren’t interested in, but with certain franchises, it seems like nostalgia is the best bet. In the universe of Transformers, the Autobots and Decepticons are constantly worried about running out of a fuel called “Energon.” Maybe the best Energon for the franchise going forward is to look back.

However, Yellowstone isn’t the arbiter of an entire genre, nor is it the be-all and end-all. There’s a whole wide world of Westerns waiting for eager eyes to consume. If Yellowstone‘s dip in quality left a sour taste in your mouth, let Lonesome Dove be your palate cleanser.

‘Lonesome Dove’ Considered ‘Way Better’ Than ‘Yellowstone’

Recently, Looper included the 1989 four-episode miniseries on its list of “5 Western TV Shows Way Better Than Yellowstone.” The outlet notes that Lonesome Dove is “arguably the best TV Western of them all” before praising Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones‘ powerful performances. It’s requisite viewing for any Western fan worth their salt.

For the uninitiated, Lonesome Dove is an adaptation of Larry McMurtry‘s seminal 1985 novel of the same name. It follows two former Texas Rangers in the late 1800s as “they and several other residents of a small Texas town join a cattle drive to the Montana Territory.”

In addition to Duvall as Augustus “Gus” McCrae and Jones as Woodrow F. Call, Lonesome Dove boasts an all-star cast, with Danny Glover as Joshua Deets, Diane Lane as Lorena Wood, Robert Urich as Jake Spoon, Frederic Forrest as Blue Duck, D.B. Sweeney as Dish Boggett, Ricky Schroder as Newt Dobbs, and Anjelica Huston as Clara Allen. Simon Wincer directed all episodes from a teleplay by William D. Wittliff.

Lonesome Dove aired on CBS in four installments, starting on Feb. 5, 1989, and concluding on Feb. 8. The beloved Western miniseries became a critical darling. The New York Times lauded it for revitalizing “both the miniseries and Western genres.” It boasts a near-perfect 98% on the Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer and 92% on the Popcornmeter.

Before Larry Sanders, sitcoms rarely turned their cameras on the anxious, self-loathing side of show business. Shandling’s show did exactly that, mining discomfort for laughs long before it became a genre unto itself.

Collider traced that influence directly to Seth Rogen’s The Studio, released in 2025.

That lineage runs through several major comedies. Curb Your Enthusiasm, often called HBO’s spiritual successor to the show, borrowed from its neurotic sensibility.

Arrested Development and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia carried forward its postmodern edge. Even The Office and Parks and Recreation echo its mockumentary-adjacent style.

The show also picked up recognition well beyond the WGA list. TV Guide ranked it No. 38 on its 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time in 2002.

Time magazine included it on a separate list of the 100 best TV shows ever made, according to Parade. 

The Larry Sanders Show has earned a spot on at least three major all-time TV rankings. It achieved that status even after leaving the air in 1998.

Dune follows Paul Atreides, the son of a Duke put in charge of the desert planet Arrakis. Arrakis is a world crawling with trouble and political intrigue, from the fearsome local Fremen, to the titanic sandworms, to the extremely important “spice” that allows for interstellar travel and the ability to see the future. With eventual Twin Peaks star Kyle MacLachlan playing Paul, and an eclectic cast including Patrick Stewart and legendary musician Sting, David Lynch’s Dune was initially a box office flop that he later disowned. However, while the adaptation is definitely not perfect, Lynch’s vision of Arrakis has led to a growing cult following over the decades.

Why Many Fans Are Giving 1984’s Dune A Second Chance

One of the biggest complaints about Dune is the pacing. The novel is simply too dense for one movie, and Lynch fought to make it a three-hour TV special, ultimately losing. Anyone not familiar with the book—and even those who are—can struggle keeping up with the latter half of the movie. But, as The Atlantic writes, Lynch “still managed to capture and distill essential portions of one of science fiction’s densest works.” The world of Dune is much more alien than any cantina in Star Wars, and Lynch’s iconic surrealist touch was perfectly suited for this weird world. The modern films are much more well made, but the original adaptation much better captures the insanity of the books. It makes sense that author Frank Herbet was far more pleased with the director was.

Dune will be coming free to stream on Tubi on October 1st. Fans anticipating Dune Part III who want to see a version of Arrakis that’s a lot more strange—and featuring a lot more Sting—should give this misunderstood diamond-in-the-rough a shot.

This September, several fashion presentations headed above the crowds to Radio Park, the landscaped rooftop built over Radio City Music Hall. Custo Barcelona, Modest Now, and Negris LeBrum staged Spring/Summer 2027 showcases there on Sept. 11.

Together, the shows demonstrated how a location can become part of a collection’s identity. Models walked through a garden surrounded by Rockefeller Center’s Art Deco architecture, with the Midtown skyline visible beyond the runway. Depending on where guests sat, the backdrop could be the garden’s pool, dense shrubbery, or the spires of St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Moving to another seat could make the same venue feel like an entirely different setting, allowing the rooftop to transform along with each collection.

Radio Park opened in 2021 as part of a wider renovation of 50 Rockefeller Plaza. Designed by landscape architecture firm HMWhite, the roughly 24,000-square-foot garden includes birch trees, planted pathways, tiered seating, and open areas overlooking the surrounding buildings. The park sits on a gradual slope because its connection to 50 Rockefeller Plaza is higher than the roof of Radio City Music Hall beneath it.

From street level, Rockefeller Center is one of Manhattan’s most heavily visited destinations. Radio Park provides a different perspective. Instead of looking up at the complex’s towers and monuments, visitors encounter them from within an elevated landscape that feels unexpectedly removed from the crowds below.

The Fashion Week lineup brought together labels and platforms at very different points in their histories.

Custo Barcelona brought decades of fashion history to the rooftop. The Spanish label traces its beginnings to 1981 and has been showing in New York since the 1990s. Founded by brothers Custo and David Dalmau, the brand developed a following for graphic prints, unconventional color combinations, and shirts that appeared on American television shows including “Friends” and “Sex and the City.” It has since expanded into complete women’s and men’s collections, footwear, and accessories.

At Radio Park, the brand presented its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, “Unexpected.” The collection continued the visual language that has made Custo Barcelona recognizable: intense color, experimental surfaces, graphic imagery, and clothing designed to command attention rather than disappear into the background. Against Radio Park’s greenery and surrounding architecture, those elements became even more pronounced.

Modest Now brought a different mission to the same rooftop. Founded by creative director and fashion-industry veteran Dina Barber-Eski and author and strategist Fatima Younus, the platform was created to give modest fashion and international designers a more permanent presence within the mainstream industry.

This was Modest Now’s second New York Fashion Week showcase following its debut in February. Its goal extends beyond arranging a single runway presentation. The founders are attempting to connect international modest-fashion designers with editorial exposure, creative production, industry contacts, and commercial opportunities that can continue after Fashion Week ends.

The platform’s Spring/Summer 2027 presentation featured Fatimah, a collection by Agni by Vita Bayu Putri x ADITH. Built around the theme “Traces of Time in a Fabric,” the collection examined how age and experience can give materials greater character.

The collection appeared entirely in white, creating an effect that felt simultaneously pristine and slightly dystopian. Against the saturated green garden and stone architecture surrounding the runway, the monochromatic presentation resembled a blank slate. With color removed from the equation, differences in layering, proportion, texture, and movement became more apparent.

Instead of treating modest fashion as one fixed aesthetic, Modest Now presented it as an evolving form of design capable of expressing identity, culture, and contemporary luxury. That distinction matters as modest fashion moves beyond being treated as a specialized category and becomes part of the wider international fashion conversation.

Negris LeBrum added another perspective to the rooftop’s Fashion Week schedule. Designer Travis Hamilton started the independent label in 2003 with a collection of 12 T-shirts. Its identity draws from the story of an interracial couple in 1940s Louisiana, using that history as the foundation for a brand centered on love, social connection, and American culture. Negris LeBrum presented its Spring 2027 collection at Rockefeller Center, continuing a New York Fashion Week presence developed over multiple seasons.

The venue also comes with superhero history. The rooftop garden appeared in Sam Raimi’s 2002 “Spider-Man,” when Spider-Man brings Mary Jane to safety following the Green Goblin’s attack in Times Square. St. Patrick’s Cathedral is visible behind the pair in the scene, the same landmark that now appears beyond the runway from certain seats at Radio Park.

Seeing the location in person makes it easy to understand why it works onscreen and on a runway. The combination of greenery, historic architecture, and skyline views feels unmistakably New York without relying on the familiar street-level image of Rockefeller Plaza. The cathedral view also gives visitors a direct visual link to the “Spider-Man” scene rather than a vague association with the larger complex.

For Fashion Week, that setting offered more than an attractive background. Custo Barcelona’s established international identity, Modest Now’s effort to build infrastructure for underrepresented designers, and Negris LeBrum’s independent American story each occupied the space differently. Radio Park connected them through a venue that already carried its own history and visual character.

The presentations also showed why independently produced Fashion Week events can remain compelling. Without relying on the same handful of runway spaces, brands can choose locations that create a more memorable relationship between the clothing and the city around it.

Radio Park may normally be less recognizable than the plaza, skating rink, and observation deck nearby. For one Fashion Week afternoon, however, the garden above Radio City Music Hall offered something increasingly difficult to find in Manhattan: a genuinely different view of a landmark people think they already know

Croce died in Natchitoches, Louisiana, while on a concert tour of southern colleges. Croce’s bandmate Maury Muehleisen, manager and booking agent Kenneth D. Cortese, road manager Dennis Rast, comedian George Stevens, and the pilot Robert N. Elliott also passed away in the accident.

When he died at 30, he was a rising star and had amassed four Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in the previous 15 months. The folk-rock singer charted with “You Don’t Mess Around With Jim,” “Operator (That’s Not the Way It Feels),” and “One Less Set of Footsteps,” but his best-known song was “Bad, Bad Leroy Brown,” which spent the final two weeks of July 1973 at No. 1.

His sudden death sent shockwaves through the world of music and triggered a huge rise in the popularity of his music. “Time in a Bottle” became his second No.1, making Croce only the third artist in the history of the Hot 100 to posthumously chart following Otis Redding and Janis Joplin.

Croce’s label had not originally intended for “Time in a Bottle” to be released as a single. But after the singer’s untimely death, the lyrics, which spoke about mortality, led many radio stations to play the album track. Croce originally wrote the song after learning his wife, Ingrid, was expecting their first child.

Croce had three more big hits following “Time In A Bottle” with “I’ll Have To Say I Love You In A Song”, out in 1974, becoming his last No. 1 single. He also had a Top 20 entry with “Workin’ At The Car Wash Blues”, also out in 1974. In 1975, “Chain Gang Medley” hit the Top 25, becoming his last radio single.

The Big Ears Festival returns April 1–4, 2027, with a sprawling program that moves freely between jazz, rock, electronic music, experimental composition, folk and contemporary classical music.

The festival’s latest lineup reflects that restless spirit. Among the artists scheduled to appear are Weyes Blood, Thundercat, Jeff Tweedy, Courtney Barnett, Natalie Merchant, Robert Glasper, Oneohtrix Point Never, Sylvan Esso, Mavis Staples, Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal, and the Kronos Quartet. Separately ticketed performances will include appearances by Norah Jones, Gillian Welch & David Rawlings, and Nathaniel Rateliff.

The state has more than 30 million acres of publicly accessible land available for hunting, according to a 2026 ranking from HuntingLicenseUSA. That puts Montana at No. 1 on the site’s list of the best states for public-land hunting, ahead of Idaho, Colorado, Alaska, and Wyoming.

Montana’s combination of enormous public-land holdings, diverse game species, and programs that open additional land to hunters helped put it at the top of the list.

Montana Has More Than 30 Million Acres of Public Hunting Land

Montana’s public hunting acreage amounts to roughly one-third of the entire state (which has a pretty massive footprint), according to HuntingLicenseUSA.

That includes approximately 16 million acres of National Forest land, more than 8 million acres managed by the Bureau of Land Management, and another 5.5 million acres of state-owned land managed by the Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation.

For hunters, that creates opportunities to pursue a wide variety of game without relying entirely on private-land access.

Montana is home to elk, mule deer, whitetail deer, antelope, bear, mountain lion, wolf, moose, bighorn sheep, and several upland bird species. Some species, including moose and bighorn sheep, require drawing a tag, so hunters still need to check the current regulations and application requirements before planning a trip.

Montana’s Public Access Goes Beyond Federal Land

The state’s public hunting opportunities aren’t limited to land owned outright by the government.

Montana’s Block Management Program adds about 6.8 million acres of private land to the public-access map through voluntary participation by landowners. HuntingLicenseUSA describes the program as one of the country’s most generous public-private access programs.

That additional acreage can be especially important for hunters looking for access to areas that might otherwise be difficult to reach.

Montana also has extensive National Forest and BLM holdings, giving hunters options that range from relatively accessible areas to remote backcountry terrain.

‘Field & Stream’ Has Highlighted Montana for Whitetail Hunting

Montana’s reputation isn’t limited to the sheer amount of land available.

Field & Stream recently highlighted the state’s Swan Lake Ranger District in its list of 100 best public-land hunts. The district covers 362,847 acres in northwest Montana and offers hunters a mix of boggy bottoms, rolling foothills, and steep mountain slopes.

The March 2026 report focused specifically on whitetail hunting in the area. Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Region 1 wildlife manager Jim Williams told Field & Stream that the area has a strong population of whitetails and favorable age structure. He also noted that hunters can find several types of terrain throughout the Swan Valley.

Montana Isn’t the Only State With Extensive Public Hunting Land

Montana may top HuntingLicenseUSA’s ranking, but several other states offer enormous amounts of public hunting access.

Idaho comes in at No. 2, with more than 33 million acres of federal land, while Colorado ranks third with more than 23 million acres of National Forest, BLM, and state land open to hunting. Alaska has more than 222 million acres of federal land, although the logistical challenges and costs associated with hunting there can be significant.

Wyoming also ranks among the top five, with approximately 27 million acres of federal land and additional opportunities through its Access Yes program.

The ranking also isn’t based on acreage alone. HuntingLicenseUSA says it considered total publicly accessible hunting land, species diversity, access programs, and hunter density when determining its list.

For Montana, the combination of those factors puts the state at the top of the list.

With more than 30 million acres to explore and a mix of big-game species, whitetail habitat, national forests, BLM land, and private acreage opened through Block Management, Montana offers hunters a substantial amount of public access without having to own or lease a piece of ground themselves.

San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California, and Amangiri in Canyon Point, Utah, were the only U.S. properties included in The World’s 50 Best Hotels 2026 ranking, which was unveiled in Paris on Sept. 15. The list spans 22 territories across six continents, but neither American hotel cracked the top 20.

San Ysidro Ranch made its debut at No. 22, making it the highest-ranked U.S. hotel on this year’s list. Set in the foothills of Montecito, the resort consists of private cottages spread across landscaped grounds. The property emphasizes privacy and seclusion rather than the towering architecture and extensive restaurant collections found at many of the urban hotels near the top of the ranking.

Amangiri landed at No. 45. Located on a remote stretch of southern Utah near the Arizona border, the resort is known for low-slung concrete architecture designed to recede into the surrounding desert. Its location places guests near landscapes including Lake Powell and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

The resort’s Camp Sarika offers another way to experience the setting through 10 tented pavilions, each with a private plunge pool. Guests can also explore the surrounding terrain through guided hikes, climbing routes, horseback rides, and other desert excursions.

Although only two U.S. hotels reached the top 50, North America had a stronger showing when Mexico was included. Chablé Yucatán, located outside Mérida, ranked No. 9 and was named the region’s best hotel. The property, built around a restored 19th-century hacienda, also received the Eco Hotel Award.

Las Ventanas al Paraíso in Los Cabos placed No. 25 after climbing 19 positions, earning the ranking’s Highest Climber award.

The United States’ limited presence stands out against the dominance of Europe and Asia. Europe placed 21 hotels on the list, while Asia claimed 18, including seven of the top 10.

Rosewood Hong Kong retained the No. 1 position for the second consecutive year. The 65-story hotel overlooks Victoria Harbour and contains 413 rooms and suites, 11 restaurants and bars, and the multilevel Asaya wellness concept.

Bangkok took the next two positions. Capella Bangkok rose to No. 2, while Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at Chao Phraya River ranked No. 3. Atlantis The Royal in Dubai followed at No. 4, and Passalacqua on Lake Como completed the top five.

Other regional winners included Rosewood São Paulo, which placed No. 6 and led South America; Royal Mansour Marrakech, named the best hotel in Africa; and Capella Sydney, the highest-ranked property in Oceania.

The ranking is determined by The World’s 50 Best Hotels Academy, a panel of more than 800 independent hospitality experts divided among 13 geographic regions. Voters select hotels based on stays they have experienced, and Deloitte independently adjudicates the results.

The two American selections could hardly look more different. One offers private cottages tucked into the green foothills above California’s coast, while the other nearly disappears into Utah’s rock and desert. Their inclusion suggests that the American hotels attracting international attention are not necessarily the country’s biggest or most recognizable properties. Instead, they are destinations whose settings are inseparable from the experience of staying there.

People talk about an Air Max 95 resurgence, but I never noticed because I never stopped wearing them. They fit true to size for me, stay comfortable and bring noticeable bounce underfoot. The ride reminds me of the Air Max Dn8, but with more emphasis on the heel.

Should You Buy the Air Max 95 ‘Bright Mandarin’?

Yes, but the price matters.

The gradient greys make this pair extremely wearable, and the Mandarin accents add personality without overpowering the design. Around $300, I understand the temptation. Once prices start pushing toward $500 or more, I’m waiting.

The sneaker is strong enough to command a premium, but not every resale price deserves your money.

The year 1986 saw the release of many Hollywood blockbusters, notably Tony Scott’s Top Gun, Peter Faiman’s Crocodile Dundee, John Hughes’ Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and John G. Avildsen’s The Karate Kid Part II.

That year also launched the career of legendary director Oliver Stone, a Vietnam War veteran. Stone wrote and directed Platoon, starring Charlie Sheen (Chris Taylor), Tom Berenger (Staff Sergeant Robert Barnes), Willem Dafoe (Sergeant Elias Gordon), Forest Whitaker (Big Harold) and Keith David (King).

Platoon tells the story of Taylor enlisting in the army in Vietnam in 1967. According to Rotten Tomatoes, things begin to go sideways when tensions arise between Taylor’s sergeants:

“In fighting in his unit between Staff Sergeant Barnes, who believes nearby villagers are harboring Viet Cong soldiers, and Sergeant Elias, who has a more sympathetic view of the locals, ends up pitting the soldiers against each other as well as against the enemy.”

In their list of the “150 Best War Movies of All Time“, Rotten Tomatoes ranked Platoon 58th. At the 59th Academy Awards, Platoon took home Best Director (Stone), Best Film Editing (Claie Simpson), Best Picture (Arnold Kopelson) and Best Sound (Simon Kaye, Richard Rogers, John K. Wilkinson and Charles Grenzbach.

Why Kevin Costner and Keanu Reeves Turned Down ‘Platoon’

Stone eyed Kevin Costner to play Barnes. Costner claimed that he turned Platoon down because his brother had served in Vietnam, though the Bull Durham star expressed regret over not taking the role.

“The one role that I regret refusing,” Costner said, per Far Out Magazine. “My brother Dan was a Marine in Vietnam and had a problem with Vietnam movies that show vets as wigged-out guys. He’s very proud that he came back, went to college, and has a family. In fact, Platoon was real and right. But my consciousness was with my brother.”

Stone also told Entertainment Weekly that Reaves declined the chance to star in Platoon because “he didn’t want to do violence.”

When he passed, he was already a beloved name in country music, with hits including “Don’t Close Your Eyes”, “When You Say Nothing At All”, and “I’m No Stranger To The Rain”.

During his career, he released just two albums, but charted 12 singles on the Billboard country charts. At the time of his death, the country star had just finished work on his third studio album, I Wonder Do You Think of Me.

The record was released three months after his death, on August 1, 1989. The album produced two more number-one hits, with the title track and “It Ain’t Nothin’.” “I’m Over You” hitting the top 5.

Among his many posthumous honors, “I’m No Stranger to the Rain” earned the Country Music Association’s 1989 Single of the Year award, and “’Til a Tear Becomes a Rose,” a duet with his partner Lorrie Morgan, earned the CMA’s Vocal Event of the Year award in 1990.

Despite his brief career and small back catalog, he made a big impact on the genre. In 2022, Whitley was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley and Morgan Wallen have all cited him as an influence on their music.

Whitley remains the only person posthumously recognized as a former member of the Grand Ole Opry without ever being an active member. He had been set to make an appearance in late May 1989 and was due to be made a member.

“Nobody sounded like Keith,” his mentor Ralph Stanley wrote in his 2009 memoir. “When you heard him on the radio, you knew who it was. If he had lived, he would have been one of the greatest singers Nashville ever saw. But he had something deep down inside of him that wouldn’t let him alone.”

Daniels tripped after being stepped on by his own player. He then tried to catch himself with his left arm, and his forearm bent back, resulting in a potentially serious arm injury. We won’t show the video of the injury, as it is pretty graphic. We will link it here if you want to take a look for yourself.

Physical therapist Tom Christ broke down the injury. “Left elbow hyperextends and goes into valgus here, which could stress the UCL and other ligaments. This is the arm one he dislocated last season. It’s his non-throwing arm which is huge. We’ll see how severe this one is.”

Another PT, Maddox McCloud, gave his prediction on how long Daniels could be out and listed several different scenarios.

“The key now is MRI findings:

• Simple dislocation/no major ligament damage → ~3–6 weeks is a reasonable initial range
• More significant ligament injury → 6–10+ weeks
• Fracture/major instability → potentially season-ending

The fact that it’s his non-throwing arm is favorable for his QB return, but he’ll still need full ROM, strength, stability and the ability to protect the elbow before returning to contact.

Season-ending is NOT a given at this point. MRI will tell us much more.”

Daniels had one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history in 2024. He led the Commanders to the NFC Championship Game and won Offensive Rookie of the Year. He threw 25 touchdown passes and 3,568 yards and rushed for six more touchdowns.

He was expected to remain one of the best quarterbacks in the world entering his second season, but he only played seven games. Daniels threw two touchdown passes in the Commanders’ Week 1 loss to the Eagles.

After scoring 59 points in Week 1 against the Panthers, Chicago was poised for a big season in the NFC North. Unfortunately, Williams left the game against the Minnesota Vikings early on Sunday with a lower-body injury. What is wrong with the Bears’ quarterback? What are the insiders saying so far?

Adam Schefter says that Williams injured his hamstring and will undergo further testing on Monday. There is no clarity on the severity of the hamstring injury right now.

Jesse Morse, a sports doctor on X with over 200,000 followers, thinks there is a possibility of a serious diagnosis for Williams. “This is likely to be a significant injury given the fact that it was non-contact (after his right leg was tripped up) and he was writhing
in pain and then could not put any weight on that right leg.”

“This is probably a grade 2 hamstring strain, which is a partial tear, but there’s a possibility this is a grade 3, which is what happened to Dak Prescott, that required season-ending surgery. Those aren’t common but possible.”

This would be a terrible and tragic start to one of the most anticipated years for the Bears in recent memory. Williams is coming off a season in which he recorded 3,942 passing yards, 27 touchdown passes, and only seven interceptions. With another year playing within head coach Ben Johnson’s offense, Williams was only going to keep getting better. Here’s to hoping that he will receive better news than analysts expect after the testing is completed on Monday.

Tenzing is a biographical drama about Tenzing Norgay, the Nepalese sherpa who, together with Edmund Hillary, became the first person to successfully climb the tallest peak on planet Earth: Mount Everest. The 1953 expedition was only possible with Tenzing’s guidance and knowledge about the local mountains, and Hillary was immediately impressed with Tenzing’s confidence and determination. In the decades following the famous expedition, Tenzing’s name has faded in popularity compared to Hillary, something which Tenzing hopes to prove wrong.

One aspect leading to Tenzing‘s soaring reviews is the perfect pairing of content with director. Jennifer Peedom is an award-winning documentarian with a clear area of expertise: her prior work includes Solo, Sherpa, and Mountain, all related to climbing and mountaineering. This care for the subject matter is evident, as one review says “the story has spiritual and emotional depth that gives Tenzing’s life mission universal resonance”.

Strong performances carry the film. While Hiddleston and Defoe are both praised, the real star of the show is little-known Genden Phuntsok, a Tibetan actor playing the title role, who gives a performance that is “powerful” and “perfectly emotional”. While the unanimous praise of Tenzing makes it Hiddleston’s highest-scoring film to date, beating heavyweights like Thor: Ragnarock and Midnight in Paris, it’s only been shown in film festivals so far. The movie hits the big screen on October 9 before dropping on Apple TV on the 16th, when audiences can judge for themselves whether Tenzing truly is the summit of Hiddleston’s career.

As the tragic news made waves throughout the industry, blink-182’s Mark Hoppus, who had his own battle with cancer a few years ago, shared a touching tribute to his longtime friend.

Chad Gilbert Passes Away

On Sunday morning, New Found Glory announced Gilbert’s passing, revealing that the guitarist “passed away peacefully in his sleep” while surrounded by his friends and family.

“Chad’s guitar playing, songwriting, humor, and relentless drive helped shape New Found Glory for nearly three decades. Through more than a dozen albums, endless tours around the world, and more accolades than we ever could have imagined, Chad challenged all of us to grow as musicians, performers, and human beings. While we are devastated to lose him, we are so grateful for the incredible life he lived, the memories we shared, and the brotherhood we had. His influence will always be part of New Found Glory and his spirit will be felt on every stage we stand on, with every note we play,” the band shared in a statement.

Gilbert underwent brain surgery in March to remove three tumors from his brain and previously underwent treatment for a rare adrenal gland cancer known as metastatic pheochromocytoma, which had spread to his spine and lungs.

‘Rest easy now, my friend’

Following the news of Gilbert’s passing, blink-182 bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus took to Instagram to pay tribute to his longtime friend.

Hoppus shared a photo of him and Gilbert standing next to each other during the filming of blink-182’s music video for their hit song “First Date” back in 2001. Gilbert and New Found Glory bandmate Jordan Pundik were featured in the video as they were touring with blink-182 at the time.

“Chad was the best friend to every person he met. The most positive and creative force in any room he walked into. These past years, he fought his sickness with the soul of a joyous, courageous warrior. With dignity, love, and gratitude. He never complained once, only kept saying how lucky he was. For everything. Today we lost a good one, and the world won’t be the same. Rest easy now, my friend. And thank you for just. Being. You’ll be sorely missed by more people than you could ever imagine. See you on the other side,” Hoppus wrote in the caption of his post.

Hoppus underwent his own battle with cancer a few years ago when he was diagnosed with stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma back in April of 2021. Hoppus was declared cancer-free in September 2021 following successful rounds of chemotherapy.

Today, September 20, 2026, is the 22nd anniversary of the release of the original Star Wars: Battlefront, not to be confused with its 2015 reboot of the same name. Battlefront allowed fans to partake in the epic battles of iconic locations and storylines from the original and prequel film trilogies. Many notable elements of the game, like its large-scale battles and class system, would be adapted in future multiplayer shooter games.

Star Wars: Battlefront is primarily a multiplayer game, but there is a single-player campaign to play through. Revenge of the Sith had not been released at the time, so the story ends with the Battle of Kashyyyk.

Playing as squad members of the Republic or the Rebels, up to 64 players (via LAN or early internet access back in 2004) could battle for control of points as one of five main classes: sniper, infantry, heavy weapons, pilot, and a fifth class that was unique to each faction.

The main gameplay mode was conquest-based, seeing players fight for control of specific points and then holding them for a set amount of time. Players could also pilot one of 25 iconic Star Wars vehicles.

According to Metacritic, Star Wars: Battlefront (2004) is sitting at an 80 metascore. Critics praised the game’s immersive fights, faithfulness to Star Wars, and longevity. Some critics criticized the game’s focus on multiplayer, especially before the era of expected high-speed internet.

The game got a direct sequel in 2005, after which the series remained dormant for 10 years due to budget issues and the Star Wars license changing hands. Electronic Arts revived Star Wars: Battlefront in 2015 as a reboot, which was followed by a sequel in 2017; the sequel featured all major eras of Star Wars, too.

Both reboots were met with some criticism for the way they handled loot boxes and progression, but the second game in the reboot series still has a fairly active player base.

Unfortunately for multiplayer fans, EA has now shifted towards single-player games, like the Star Wars: Jedi series and a focus on the Battlefield series as its multiplayer offering, so a Battlefront 3, while not impossible, seems unlikely in the near future.

Now, the New York designer is experimenting with how people encounter those clothes after the runway show ends.

Shortly after presenting her Spring/Summer 2027 collection during New York Fashion Week, Shui introduced a new web app featuring visual search and virtual try-on tools. Visitors can upload or photograph a look through the app’s “Scan the Look” feature to identify the corresponding Kim Shui piece and collection. Its virtual try-on component generates an image showing how selected garments could look on the user.

It is a logical next step for a designer whose work has consistently been shaped by the relationship between clothing, identity, and the person wearing it.

Born in the United States and raised in Rome, Shui draws upon a multicultural background that has become central to her label. She launched her namesake brand in New York and gained wider attention after winning the VFILES Runway competition in 2016. Her designs have since been worn by celebrities including Cardi B, Kylie Jenner, and Solange Knowles, while her runway shows have developed a reputation for theatrical settings and provocative interpretations of familiar silhouettes.

Her Spring/Summer 2027 presentation carried that sense of theater directly onto the streets of Manhattan. Staged in a Lower Manhattan alley, the collection explored performance through references to Peking Opera and Lingzi—the long pheasant feathers traditionally worn and manipulated by performers to communicate emotion and character.

Shui translated those influences through saturated colors, dramatic fringe, feathers, embroidery, sheer fabrics, sculptural headpieces, and elongated proportions. References to peacocks and birds of paradise added another layer of spectacle, while corseted bodices and strategic cutouts remained connected to the sensual design language that helped establish her brand.

The unconventional setting was as significant as the clothes. By treating a New York street as her stage, Shui collapsed some of the distance between an invitation-only fashion show and the city surrounding it. The new app extends that idea digitally: Someone who encounters one of her looks online or through social media can potentially trace it back to the collection and explore it more closely.

That connection may become increasingly valuable as Shui expands beyond the womenswear for which she is best known. The designer introduced her first menswear looks in her Spring 2025 collection before leaning further into the category for Fall/Winter 2025. She has carried elements of her established design language, including sheer materials, fitted silhouettes, embellishment, and expressive tailoring, into clothing designed for men.

As men become more experimental with color, transparency, proportion, and embellishment, Shui’s designs offer a bolder alternative to conventional menswear. Instead of treating the category as separate from the rest of the label, she brings the same sensuality, confidence, and cultural perspective that have long defined her womenswear.

The app could also give Shui more control over how audiences discover and interact with her expanding body of work. Its visual-search feature connects runway images to specific pieces and collections, while the virtual try-on tool allows users to picture themselves in the clothing before making a purchase. Together, the features extend the experience of a Kim Shui runway beyond the show itself, turning the inspiration sparked by a single look into a more direct connection with the designer and her work.

The platform also offers a glimpse at how technology could make Fashion Week more interactive. A runway look can quickly circulate across social media, but viewers may not know who designed it or where to find it. Shui’s app creates a more direct path between seeing a garment, learning its story, and exploring the collection from which it originated.

The timing is significant. Shui is broadening her menswear presence, staging increasingly ambitious presentations, and finding new ways to carry the drama of her runway shows beyond the front row. Her new app brings those efforts together, opening the next chapter of the Kim Shui brand to a much wider audience.

Nintendo didn’t forget about the franchise’s 2D roots, though. Seven years ago, one of the most underrated games in the series was reimagined for the Switch. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening was originally released on the Game Boy in 1993, but the outdated graphics and controls made it a prime candidate for a remake. This 2019 version is now one of the most celebrated of the 2010s and is the cutest reincarnation of Link, Zelda, and company.

Round, shiny, and toy-like, the graphics in Link’s Awakening are ageless and now a benchmark for all future 2D releases in Zelda. Echoes of Wisdom in 2024 used the same style as Link’s Awakening. Even the Ocarina of Time remake coming out this year for the Switch 2 incorporates some of these cutesy designs and textures.

Critics loved the game seven years ago, giving it an 87/100 on Metacritic. Vandal said, “Link’s Awakening hasn’t aged a bit. It’s fantastic design with now beautiful graphics make it as enjoyable as when it came out. No matter if you played it a million times or if you hadn’t heard about it before, it’s an adventure you cannot miss.”

The Daily Dot reiterated the same praise. “I found playing through a modern imagining of this classic to be almost perfect. While it doesn’t reinvent the franchise or break convention, it never acts like it wants to. There’s something comforting about returning to a world like this: to know its every corner, to recognize its colorful cast, to feel truly lost in the experience.”

Link’s Awakening proves that remakes are not just a cash grab, but often breathe new life into games that never knew they needed it.

The other guy is standing next to him, wondering whether his parking pass will work next year.

Troy Aikman cast doubt on his future with ESPN this weekend, just days after longtime broadcast partner Joe Buck reportedly agreed to a six-year extension worth roughly $108 million.

Aikman is entering the final season of the five-year, $90 million contract he signed when he left Fox for ESPN in 2022. And apparently, this wasn’t how he expected things to look by now.

“I thought something would be done before the start of this season,” Aikman told Richard Deitsch on the Sports Media Podcast. Instead, September arrived without a new contract.

“When it might get done, if it gets done, is anyone’s guess,” Aikman said.

That’s a remarkable sentence considering the man sitting next to him every Monday night just received a reported $18 million-per-year commitment through the next six seasons.

Buck and Aikman have called NFL games together since 2002. They first were paired together at Fox and then ESPN, making them the longest-running current NFL broadcast teammates. ESPN made a major splash by bringing Aikman aboard in 2022, then got Fox to release Buck from his contract so the two could stay together.

Four years later, ESPN has made sure Buck isn’t going anywhere.

Aikman? TBD.

The Hall of Fame quarterback said Buck’s new deal would “no question” factor into his own decision and made clear that he wants their partnership to continue.

“Would I like to continue working with Joe Buck moving down the road? 100%,” Aikman said. How much control Aikman ultimately has over that, he acknowledged, remains unclear.

ESPN and Aikman still have plenty of time to work something out. His current contract runs through this season, which includes a particularly significant assignment. Buck and Aikman are scheduled to call ESPN/ABC’s first Super Bowl under the network’s current NFL rights agreement in February.

And Monday night, they’ll be right back where viewers expect them, calling Giants-Rams on ESPN and ABC.

So nobody needs to start drawing up custody papers for the Monday Night Football booth just yet.

But after ESPN committed another $108 million to Buck, the man who’s spent nearly 25 years sitting beside him still can’t say whether they’ll be together beyond this season.

Speaking with Men’s Journal the morning after his eviction, Yash walked through the one moment that could have gone another way — the Pressure Cooker, where he made a deal with Drew Campbell despite claiming he could have won. “When my dad had first come to this country, he was mopping floors at a liquor store, and he would work six to seven days a week, 12 to 14 hour shifts, and the owner of that liquor store would not let him sit down,” he said. “So for me standing there, I was like, what my dad had to do was hard. What I’m doing, I have no excuse to sit down, to want to sit down, to drop this board.”

He also gets into why he doesn’t regret the HOH win that left him unable to compete during the Double Eviction HOH, the BB Bribe he took from Dee and spent weeks trying to shake, whether he would have honored his deal with Drew, and whether he’d say yes to Big Brother again.

Men’s Journal: Any regrets about winning HOH last week, knowing a Double Eviction could be coming, and you couldn’t play?

Yash Patel: I don’t have any regrets about it because I look back at the game entirely and think it’s not worth having regrets. Because ultimately, the decisions I made got me to the point that I made it to. And yes, I could say maybe I could have done things differently, but if I had done things differently, maybe I wouldn’t have made it as far. Maybe I wouldn’t have had the opportunities that I had had, particularly pertaining to my last HOH. I think it got to the point in the game where I had to win to stay safe and guarantee my safety, and I really wanted to wash my hands of that bribe because had Dee or Devens won, then they would have been safe yet another week, which would have just made that bribe even more powerful. Because I can’t put them up, and it will just slim down the pool of people that I can put up. So I don’t regret winning the last HOH. It’s unfortunate that the double eviction happened and I couldn’t compete in the HOH competition for that. But no regrets, can’t have regrets.

Men’s Journal: Do you think you could have beaten Drew in the Pressure Cooker, or did you take a deal because you were close to dropping?

Yash Patel: Oh, I 1,000% would have beaten Drew in that Pressure Cooker, like without a doubt. Because I think I could have gone for another 12 hours if I had to, but especially standing next to Drew, I know it in my bones. I would not have let up, and I also think back to where a big reason I made it, as far as I made it, when my dad had first come to this country, he was mopping floors at a liquor store, and he would work six to seven days a week, 12 to 14 hour shifts, and the owner of that liquor store would not let him sit down, so he would be on his feet for more than half the day, almost every day a week. So for me standing there, I was like, what my dad had to do was hard. What I’m doing, I have no excuse to sit down, to want to sit down, to drop this board. I know in my bones that I could have outlasted Drew both physically and mentally. I took the deal because the deal sounded more valuable than keeping him on the block, especially when he would have had the chance to compete in the Blockbuster, which I thought he was guaranteed gonna win.

Men’s Journal: Speaking of the deal, if Drew went up as a renom during the Double Eviction, would you have held to it or voted him out?

Yash Patel: I would have held to it because had he been the renom, that would be Melody showing trust in me and Taylor [Brown], and that would have been an opportunity to get an icon out, so in voting Dee out, I would have been able to show my trust to Melody, and I would have been able to get an Icon out.

Men’s Journal: Do you have any regrets keeping Angela [Murray] over Dee last week?

Yash Patel: I have no regrets there. Keeping Dee, I still believe was a very smart strategic decision because she was a heat-seeking missile towards Barrett [Pfeiffer], Drew and Melody after Barrett had nominated her. Second, even though I went home sitting next to Dee, that does not change the fact that she was still a bigger shield than Angela, because I still think the odds I stayed sitting next to Dee were higher than the odds I stayed if I were sitting next to Angela. So I have no regrets there. I just wish Devens didn’t win that Blockbuster because he would have been sent home.

Men’s Journal: And lastly, would you play Big Brother again?

Yash Patel: That’s a hard question to answer after being in there for two and a half months and finally just getting out, but I know me, and I know how I am. I definitely think if you gave it a month and you asked me this question again, I’d say hell yeah, let’s run it.

Outback is already known for playful cocktails that make ordering a drink feel like part of the dining experience. Its seasonal beverages have included holiday cocktails served with collectible koalas and the viral Aussie JAWSsie, which returned for Shark Week with a keepsake shark that poured grenadine into the drink. Outback also created a non-alcoholic Sharky Temple featuring the same shark-themed presentation.

Offering a mocktail counterpart is still relatively unusual among large casual-dining chains, particularly when the non-alcoholic version retains the presentation that made the original drink popular.

I tried Outback’s two new Ritual cocktails at the chain’s Brooklyn location. Both tasted closer to traditional cocktails than dressed-up fruit juice. They delivered the familiar sweetness, acidity, and presentation of a mixed drink, essentially scratching the cocktail itch without producing an actual buzz.

The partnership arrives as more Americans reconsider when and how frequently they consume alcohol. A 2025 Gallup survey, found that 54 percent of American adults said they drink alcohol, the lowest percentage Gallup has recorded in nearly 90 years of tracking the behavior.

However, the shift does not necessarily mean consumers are giving up alcohol completely. Approximately 46 percent of restaurant and bar guests consume both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, according to data shared by the brands.

That flexible approach has helped popularize “zebra striping,” the practice of alternating between alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks during the same outing. Someone might begin dinner with a traditional margarita, order a zero-proof drink next, and then return to an alcoholic cocktail later.

“We are seeing more guests take a flexible approach to their beverage choices,” Outback’s beverage team told me. “Rather than identifying as either a cocktail drinker or a non-alcoholic drinker, many guests are making decisions based on the occasion, the day, or even where they are within their dining experience.”

At Outback, that could mean starting with a tequila-based Gold Coast ’Rita and ending the meal with a No Worries ’Rita, making the name especially fitting for anyone hoping to enjoy the night without regretting it the next morning. Ritual’s spirit alternatives also allow the restaurant to prepare alcohol-free variations of cocktails beyond the two currently listed on its menu.

The collaboration reflects a larger shift in what diners expect from restaurants. Seventy percent of consumers now want beverage options beyond soda and water, according to data provided by the brands. The National Restaurant Association also reports that 56 percent of non-alcoholic drinks are ordered alongside meals, while another 33 percent are enjoyed between meals.

For Outback, the goal was to create drinks that feel like part of its existing cocktail experience instead of a separate, lesser category.

“Every guest deserves a beverage that feels special and thoughtfully crafted,” the company said. “We looked to evoke that feeling of treating yourself, not settling.”

Ritual’s Agave and Rum Alternatives were selected to recreate two familiar cocktail styles rather than introduce drinks customers might not recognize.

“The beauty of Ritual Zero Proof is that it’s designed as a one-to-one replacement for traditional spirits,” Megan Hurtuk, head of marketing for non-alcoholic beverages at Diageo North America, told me. “The goal was to make these drinks feel instantly recognizable, not like a separate or compromised experience.”

The nationwide rollout also suggests that elevated non-alcoholic drinks are becoming more than a temporary Dry January promotion. Although independent cocktail bars and upscale restaurants helped popularize the category, Outback is bringing zero-proof spirits into a widely accessible casual-dining setting.

Speaking with People ahead of the 2026 Americana Honors & Awards show at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Taupin shared the magic formula to his long and successful collaboration with John.

He joked that he and the “Candle in the Wind” singer remained so positive over the years by “keeping out of each other’s hair.”

He added that realistically it was a “love of music” that keeps the two artists working together. The pair first met in 1967 when they answered an advertisement in a music-themed newspaper. Their musical relationship led them to write huge his like “Your Song”, “Rocket Man” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.”

“We grew up loving all kind of music, all forms of music, all genres. And so, I think that’s what’s connected us and also the fact that we don’t live in each other’s pockets,” Taupin explained in the recent interview. “You know, we live very different lives. We’re very different people, but we are connected through music and our love of it and love of working together.”

The songwriter believes he can still deliver because he’s interested in “looking around me and drawing inspiration from people in everyday walks of life.”

“I’ve always been an observer, a storyteller, and I just — I just love people. I mean, I’m not a real people person, but I’m very interested in people, if that makes sense,” Taupin said.

He added: “I love seeing what people do. I love being in airports and watching people and going, where they’re going, what do they do? Everything, everything that I’ve ever written is sort of inspiration from that.”

When asked whether any lyrics have changed meaning with age, he explained candidly that while he couldn’t think of one specific example, he thinks their “body of work continues to have relevance and find a new audience every, every decade.”

“As I say, younger people are finding new ways to interpret them,” Taupin continued. “And I think the other thing is that they can be interpreted in all kinds of genres, you know? We’ve never, we’ve never sort of played inside the box.”
