Anyone know a decent place to throw a net to get some finger mullets near Lynnhaven Pier? I am trying to get a basket full of live ones before heading out on to the pier for a while. Would prefer not to pay the parking fee at Lesner then have to drive across the street and pay the pier fee too.

Chuck replied, 'Well, then just give me my money back.'

The farmer said, 'Can't do that. I went and spent it already.'

Chuck said, 'Ok, then, just bring me the dead donkey.'

The farmer asked, 'What ya gonna do with him?

Chuck said, 'I'm going to raffle him off..'

The farmer said, You can't raffle off a dead donkey!'

Chuck said, 'Sure I can Watch me.. I just won't tell anybody he's dead.'

A month later, the farmer met up with
Chuck and asked, 'What happened with that dead donkey?'

Chuck said, 'I raffled him off. I sold 500 tickets at two dollars a piece and
made a profit of $898.00.'

The farmer said, 'Didn't anyone complain?'

Chuck said, 'Just the guy who won. So I gave him his two dollars back.'
Chuck now works for the government.

5 sharks less than 2ft. long
everything was caught on sand fleas (which were big and thick) except the ray, found a lone mullet washed up on the beach. Water was kinda clear with some small debris (quarter size or less) floating around. Not much current, tide was all the way out and rising, fished until 11:00pm. heading back out today.
note to Kingfish...... MAG Elite manhandled the ray, I wish it could have been something more of a big "game fish" but hey, I'll take what I can get.

Now, as Step 1 of my recovery plan - I have admitted to my peers that I have a problem. Now, don't be fooled, I enjoy my problem completely yet I sometimes find myself being the victim of its cruel grip on my lacking will power (jokingly).

I am not quite sure what Step 2 is in this process and frankly, I am not sure I want to know. I like how things are now :D

***deep breath*** ....... I am a tackle whore.

There I said it. I do feel somewhat relieved in getting that out in the open.

I just find everything fascinating. Especially the way outdoor/tackle shops such as Bass Pro seem to exploit my weakness and exploit it much like a well lit casino in Vegas does a problematic gambler. As the saying goes "resistance is futile."

Let me explain my sickness further.

About 3 years ago - my wife and I had the pleasure of joining a fellow board member (GtoDave) and his wife for a weeks vacation in Avon, NC (OBX). We did a bit of fishing off the beach. Now, I was already well equipped for "normal fishing" on lakes, ponds, rivers, etc and even had a couple small beach setups. But this "new" type of fishing had me hooked.

I immediately started reading and doing my homework. Since then, we (same group of people) have hit OBX again for a summer and my buddy Dave (GtoDave) and I (along with some of the guys) have made several hell run type fishing trips along with even an extended stay at DrumDum's place in early spring.

Each time we make plans - I can hear my bank account dwindling. My wallet needs to be hit with some WD40. My credit card is starting to warp!!!!

In the past 3+ years - I've gone from 5 rods (3 ultralights 2 medium sized spinners) to a collection that has increased by 4 conventionals (Penn Mag 525, 2 SLOSH30 and 1 SLOSH20), 4 new heavy spinners (incl. my baby Penn 950SSm). I now own 6 rods over 10' (3 OM-12', 1 Tica 10', and 1 Emblem 11.5' and a POS). Hell, I even bought a Penn 9/0 on a boat road for battling sharks - lol.

I had one tackle box - now I have 4. I even have one big ass box dedicated to nothing but spools of various fishing line. I have a corner stacked with rod spikes. I have rod holders attached to the wall both vertically and horizontally. Part of my garage has become a shrine to my habit and somewhat of a mocking reminder of my ineptness.

Even yesterday at BPS, I bought a new casting OM 12' (I love them), various tackle (line, swivels, lures, etc) and even a freaking 4' fishing gaff. My buddy and I even sadly mocked our spending habits when it came to this stuff. Just the day before, he dropped $165 after deciding to poke his head into BPS because he was "in the neighborhood". Let me be clear - he didn't NEED anything. I went in there to buy a new rod (i did need one and it was actually an anniversary present from my wife) and ended up spending $230. All because I had the notion to build some king/pin-rigs for an upcoming overnighter to AI. See how BPS is like a dealer to the crack addict. LOL.

My issue doesn't stop there. Over the winter I purchased a new OK Proweler Big Game. Why? It's easier to yak baits out them cast them ................ no more - no less.

You know what I figured out? Two kayaks are more fun then one. So add an OK Prowler 13 to the collection (used). With that purchase came the need to increase my freshwater tackle stash due to all the kayaking I'd be doing in the nearby rivers.

Hell, I even built (well actually HotRod on this board built) a rack for my truck to transport my kayaks and a handful of rods/reels. This is above the rear mounted cooler/rod rack I already had from before!!!

I even bought two surf fishing books earlier this week. One about the "complete surf fisherman" and one on tying knots and rigs. You can always learn something ......... I do feel slightly "dorkish" reading a book probably written in 1970 about fishing. However, I must admit that it kept my attention from cover to cover.

I am now even researching rod building just so I have something "fishing related" to do over the winter. I have issues I know ............................

Anyhow, thanks for the ear. I found this to be refreshing and cleansing. A weight has been taken off of my chest. I am on the road to recovery. Not ...................

Who am I kidding. I love it too much to give it up. I just hope my credit card can stand the abuse I am undoubtidly going to put on it before my next big OBX trip

Any other victims of this fishing tackle curse? Speak now - free yourself from the burden of its power!!!! LOL.
