A month or so ago I was craving some kind of chocolate dessert. One problem, I was out of eggs, a key ingredient. I look at numerous websites, looking at recipes, trying to find a non-egg version. No luck. I’m still slowing getting back into the swing of things. It took me 2 days to recover from the drive up north for my uncle’s memorial. Then, we get back and I discover I’m out of one of my medications. I spent that day going through horrible withdrawal; shaking, headaches, rocking back and forth. Not fun. The pharmacy, God bless them, expedited my refill when I explained the situation.

I’m finally back with a post, yay! I have finished all my testing and dr/hospital appts until mid August. Hooray. My lip is healing nicely, and it looks like, as of now, I do not have sjogren’s syndrome (thank God). But since I’m borderline on the test results for sjogren’s, I have to go see the rheumatologist every 6 months for blood work to make sure I don’t develop it. My wonderful sister has once again rescued me this week with a guest post. I'm still recovering from my minor surgery last Friday. It really made my week horrible. I woke up each morning with puffy lips, it hurt to talk because the knots/stitches rub against my bottom teeth and gums. My energy is so low, I'm barely able to make dinner for Mr.Surly. And I have to rinse my mouth out with

Oatmeal Crusted Chicken

I am constantly thinking of new ways to prepare chicken. Since raw meat makes me squeamish, I like coatings on chicken when preparing to hide the sight of the raw meat.

I like the idea of an oatmeal coating. I am trying to eat low gluten to help my stomach bloat and I bought rolled oats from Trader Joe’s that claim to be gluten free. Oats are naturally gluten free, but oats are often

Guest Post: Crab Cakes

Recently, I was contacted by Jenny, a seafood writer, about a guest post opportunity on my blog. I love guests posts;t gives me a day off. I'm open to anyone posting, just contact me. This guest post came at a particularly opportune time; I've been suffering from a severe inner ear infection since Sunday, and I don't see my doctor til wed morning. I can't even articulate my pain.

I barely cook anymore; too much energy is required. I made these cupcakes recently. I knew Mr.Surly wouldn't touch them because they have coconut in them. They were a great accompaniment to my morning coffee. My frosting didn't turn out well, it was kinda runny. Who doesn't love a Shamrock shake? It's basically a St.Paddy's Day, month of March staple, thanks to McDonald's. When I moved down to the South 6 years ago, once March came around I went to McDonald's to get my annual Shamrock shake. When I ordered one, the employee is like,"A shamrock, what? What is a shamrock shake?" They had no idea what I was talking about.
