What a cool venue and group of people. If you don't know already RobotSpeak is a super sick underground electronic music instrument store in San Francisco. They sell everything from totally tricked out monophonic earth shakers to circuit bent teletubies. Basically its a major hub for all the producers in town.

The set I performed involved a delicate balance of visual forms being triggered in arkaos by midi notes and samples coming from live. All running on one laptop. I also edited a couple of av samples that I was triggering from a dvd player. All in all it worked very well and the crowd enjoyed the show. Of course there is room for improvement. I'm trying to move slowly towards a more narrative approach. Incorporating child like story lines that will hopefully jump start the playground mechanics of our ancient child minds.

Its so damn exciing to be involved in av performance these days. I feel like the technology and know how is finally hitting a tipping point. Allowing artists to truly create captivating realtime performances that are both meaningful and thought provoking.

here is a quick edit of the performance
<a href="http://suryummy.tv/blog videos/ROBOTSPEAK AV SET.mov", target="_blank">AV SET at ROBOTSPEAK

www.robotspeak.com

Lightrhythm AV show at SFMOMA

Last week I was able to perform with other members of the lightrhythm collective. Outrageous and downright necessary for the creative geek in all of us. Back in oct 05 my VJ crew (lightrhythm visuals) and I went on a splendid tour through the lovely mechanical gardenistic clubs of Tokyo. What a lovely sequence of events this produced. It was really amazing to be throwing down our visual sets within such a vivid landscape. My fiance Crystal and I were able to chill with our good friend Shinji, who also happens to be one of the top vj's in Japan. Even better though, I've just come out with the audio portion of it. Its my first professionally produced audio album and well to say the least I'm super excited and even a bit proud.
