Why Yogi? Is he the Baton or is he the Bait?

Does A very calibrated risk taker like Narendra Modi need to up the ante now, when he has swaggering majorities every where? Is he in love with risk or his optimal risk reward point is yet not arrived? Is he inebriated on his returns so far to keep leveraging his gains or his optimal point in an ever changing equilibrium is yet not there?

Well, the string theory guys will surmise that RSS forced him to do this!

Wait.

With Maha-Gathbandhan a distinct realism ahead of us in 2019, the only rampart left for Modi to tear apart is the polarised Muslim vote. The Muslim Vote bank became dysfunctional in Uttar Pradesh elections 2017, for the first time perhaps in India. Do not jump to a comfort zone that the Pseudo Liberals are yet to abandon that Mr. Modi will let the Muslim Vote coalesce and coagulate even once more. Hope is the worst enemy of a bull. By putting Yogi Adityanath in the driver's seat which bull is Mr. Modi feeding with hope? The Large mass of Modi bulls or the perishing Muslim Vote Bank politics bulls-in-denial? Think peacefully, who is Modi Ji baiting?

Let the #Presstitutes the #Pseudoliberals, the #Sickulars scream Hindu Rajya and Modi knows how to en masse trap the losers and the rats.

In Yogi's Uttar Pradesh Muslims will flourish. PERIOD. Mandir-Masjid issue is a matter that is sub-judice and the courts will deal with it. With a Mahagathbandhan around the corner, Modi & Co. know well going to the hustings with a Temple in hand may not be "sufficient". Going to the hustings in 2019 with Goodness for All including Muslims will be "necessary". Goodness for all can be achieved with as well as without the Temple. Keep guessing.

Sarva Dharma Sambhaav & Vasudhaivayah Kutumbakam are the corner stones of the Hindu Way of Life and Modi is going to build his victories further on these corner stones.

Doubt, disbelief are the strongest propellants of any meme. Memetics being the study of how ideas percolate and propagate across social structures. An idea will keep propagating stronger and stronger till the time there are doubters. Why are no one able to imagine that the true agenda of Modi Ji may be to exhaust and extinguish the entire plank of Hindu vs Muslim or the Muslim Vs Hindu. If Hindus are granted their temple by the courts and Modi Ji works at including every Muslim meticulously in his Vikas - progress agenda, has he left anything for the Mahagathbandhan at all then?

Am I making a forecast or am I wishing? Is this note a foresight-ful wish or a wishful foresight? Time only can answer.

The risk has indeed multiplied manifold. Its an All In move in Hold'em Poker terms. Winner takes it all, or loses it all.

If any other colour than saffron stirs confrontational horses, law and order enforcement will be the biggest responsibility Modi & Co have undertaken in this All In Move.

Do the left, the center, the left of center, the sickularists dare to create a flare?

From a traditional risk analytics perspective after massive victories playing all in with all your chips still on the table doesnt make sense for a rookie player too & then Modi Ji is a master of political risk taking! Does it smack of heroism, then?

But then, who has changed the course of history and destiny who hasn't had the DNA of a Hero? Choose your words carefully, then. If it is "Smacking of Heroism" or is it "the DNA of a Hero" that now comes to your mind when you imagine the picture of Modi Ji in your mind?

If you cant see the Hero in Modi Ji, keep pulling at the strings of your string theory or your mumma's apron.

This man is out to write history in a way that in times to come, either which ways we might refer to history of India, as India before Modi & India After Modi.

I am not competent to be either for what he has done with Yogi or to be against it. Just observing, the stakes have been pushed all in and this is here my traditional risk reward analysis mind crumbles.

I haven't been a hero, I haven't written history and I therefore will only be good at surmising at best or wondering at worst, here. Same is true of anyone else.

The next few years are a massive Point of Inflection. Velocity of time has changed several levels in the last fortnight. Yes why should you consider time only as seperatedness of only one event, that is the rising and setting of the sun. If you are willing to change the frame of your references, time is the separatedness of any event that is constantly repeating. Focus now on deciphering time in your mind as the separated-ness of each breath India is taking! Yes, you will now feel the velocity of time has shot up!

A winner all the way and a winner who has been on a historical winning streak is upping the ante and upping it like no one has ever.

Tighten your seat-belts, this jumbo Jet with 125 Crore Passengers is now at the stratosphere and the pilot and his co-pilot are used to riding space ships and not just jumbo jets.

We will either escape the atmosphere into space or collapse. Next two years could take India move through fifty years, either backwards or forwards.

But then this is what comes from the mind that is nothing but a self-organizing pattern seeking system. The mind refuses to break any moulds and keeps building more moulds.

So one leans on the heart. The heart, being the heart of a #Bhakt, one says earnestly & animatedly that India now takes the next leap ahead to achieve in the next two years what we could not in the last 50. For such change, for such velocity, incredulity, disbelief, bedazzlement are just natural.

This all in move places the Mahagathbandhan on the mat, even before it ties the endlessly complex nuptial knots! To be or not to be is going to chew the Gathbandhan, for Modi it is already a To Be. For Modi I am New India is in.

Old India, beware this is one game where game theory fails and it has failed tonite. This is a game where the Winner is not scared to lose and a game where the losers have been put in a state where they will be scared to win.

Open Letter IX to Shri Narendra Modi: Creation of Air Corporation of India

Respected & Dear Prime Minister Sir,

Swacch Bharat Abhiyan has put people back into the business of governance and has brought the motivations and incentives of undertaking appropriate karma for receiving good governance.

Endless permutations come to mind on how you may energize such an initiative permanently.

For this letter, one shall focus on the quality of air in urban as well as rural India and how a simple initiative can create a permanent self propelling institution in place, forever.

Consider establishing a new corporation, the Air Corporation of India Ltd., with a sole purpose and goal to ensure clean unpolluted air. Levels of dust due to irresponsible construction and our other habits have rendered the rural as well as urban India beyond the capacity of mother nature and the regular rains to clean us up.

ACI, i.e.the Air Corporation of India may be initially funded by several institutions as shareholders. Such institutions could be the IL&FS, Insurance Companies (who will gain if longevity and health of population improves pushing actuarial numbers to their advantage) and any others.

This corporation may install jumbo, mega, gigantic air purifiers across the length and breadth of the country. Say if at a major traffic signal at Connaught Place such a towering cylinder of an airpurifier is embalmed with LED display screens all around, it can become an outstanding display where commercial advertising can defray the costs of such an initiative. It will also make our citizens as well as tourists look up in awe, the way almost anyone who has been to Times Square looks around bedazzled. Clean air, beautiful view, information dissemination and self financed.

Large Properties such as Railway Stations, Airports, Public places can have their respective departments and authorities allow space for installation of these purifiers on a realistic rental value. The AIC will enter into lease agreements, providing additional revenue to these utilities and the ACI in turn will be able to sell the advertising space it would get in crowded places with millions of footfalls and eyeballs.

In the Digital India with 4G percolating to every dot of the country's map, centralized servers can produce the most productive and elegant media buying opportunity for brand and campaign managers. Whenever and wherever there is unsold media inventory on these towers, public utility information such as safety promotions from local police departments, health departments, social service departments can be beamed for educating the populace on good ways of living.

The Air Corporation of India be created as an independent body in which the Government of India may be an active shareholder too. With the era of Internet of Things already upon us self diagnostic micro devices tracking the efficiency of the air cleaning, the amount of dirt, dust, debri and super compressed carbon (which is nothing but artificial diamond / black diamond) can be tracked. Additional lines of revenue for the Air Corporation of India could arise by producing artefacts, artificial jewellery and such articles from the compressed and super compressed dust, dirt and carbon particles which large business houses, the government itself and finally the public may begin to buy for self usage, gifting and can be exported. अब जब नित्य नए कमल खिलाये जा रहे हैं फैले कीचड़ से तो क्यों न हम धुल, रेत और दूषण से अभिलाष्य उपहार बनायें भी, लें भी और दें भी !

Energy efficiency that our Government is now emphasizing on so efficiently and vigorously can also find its value in this intiative. Wherever feasible these towers may be solar powered or wind powered as practical and for use of such renewable energy incentives can always be built into the system by way of tax benefits and other channels.

The way emission control norms for vehicles are monitored and specified from time to time with evolving technology, parameters can be upgraded over time to ensure ethical cleaning of the air is done all over the country.

Over time as we cris-cross the country covering the public places, roads & utilities law may be enacted by local governments to ensure that all new constructions of commercial and residential buildings above a certain threshold cubic meter volume must install these on their rooftops. In the transition period, old and existing constructions may be incentivised by providing rebates in municipal and other taxes.

If Google & Facebook can achieve an unimaginable market capitalization then why cant our Air Corporation of India catering to the ultimate demographic dividend in modern history achieve a self financing cash flow pipeline by becoming a listed corporation within two years of its birth. Instead of keeping draining the resources of the Government, such a corporation will keep becoming a worthier and worthier magnet for private and global capital and pay very rich dividends to its shareholders, a good life to our citizens and continuously growing income and service tax to the Government. I urge your Government to be the incubator. हाँ साहब हवा से पैसा बन सकता है और अब बिलकुल बन सकता है! वायु प्राण शक्ति है, पूरा देश सुन्दर और स्वस्थ भी बन सकता है !

May not be any wonder in this era, when mega global corporations like Google and Facebook may begin to take the media space on lease from the Air Corporation of India!

ISRO, IIS, IITs in our country can churn out soon enough many variations, models and technologies cost effectively for purifying the air of this country for every terrain, every weather. We have the competencies and the world knows about them.

In time as the Air Corporation of India becomes a role model many other private sector players may step in to provide efficiency due to competition, bringing in faster and sooner better technology, better pricing and much more intensive and extensive competition.

1. Personal view / opinion / bias surfacing repeatedly in the work of any journalist makes him counter-productive for the audience / consumer of news. Since in the name of Freedom of Speech there will never be any regulator for taming rampant misconduct of media professionals, such conduct will DEFINITELY make the people full of dislike for such so called professionals who are not only indulging in such conduct for DEFINITELY some gain (why else they would risk compromising their professional stature. Come on no one tell me that ANYONE is so committed to his beliefs that he will risk his career or standing). When such professionals become mad and full of themselves with an existing political axis and become too full of themselves, they run into psychological problems of not being able to accept the change.

2. Once the so called Godfathers of such professionals are no longer Gods, crisis erupts in the life of such professionals.

3. Fine, we do have Freedom of Speech, but no one said it can be practiced irresponsibly. Try out hurling abuses in a traffic snarl up and you will know what one means by responsible freedom of speech.

4. So whether a journalist or a non-journalist each has a RIGHT to Freedom of Speech & must be practiced responsibly. Some Journalists taking a poetic license too far and terming new phrases such as Freedom of Press are living in a Fool's Paradise.

5. When a democracy has collectively elected a leadership, for any journalist to remain in a pre-election mindset and continue to "paint" his ranting and diatribes as either news or editorial views is seriously damaging, unsocial and totally unprofessional. Why as a Citizen Rajdeep Sardesai had 1 vote and he may or may not have casted it. What right does he have to deride my democracy?

6. To keep singing a stale song of Godhra is ridiculous again and a clear breach of the law of Contempt. If Supreme Court decided on the matter, everyone must accept it. If anyone is an interested party then ONLY one can go to apply for a revision to a Higher Bench of the Supreme Court. All other ranting and particularly by highly visible media is total disregard of the law of land. Such a behaviour is contemptuous of the court on one hand and displays a level of arrogance no civilized society will tolerate.

7. When mis-use of power (media is a potent form of power & influence) is no longer backed by power, frustration sets in.

8. To indulge in a street-fight under any situation is a clear sign of psychological problems.

9. Tapes clearly show who got physical first.10. Tapes also show RS said, "You are an arsehole too". This clearly suggests he lost his head beyond the limits of logic also apart from civility. Such a statement from him if taken literally means he admitted in the first place that he himself was an arsehole.

11. Atop all this the sheer chicanery and debauchery of having taped something and bragging that it’s good to have captured the idiots on tape and to show the idiots is good is a total collapse of Rajdeep Sardesai's personality. This is hypocrisy beyond limits. Shame.

12. India Today a respected media group MUST FIRE Rajdeep Sardesai Immediately for abuse of his position, unprofessionalism, unethical conduct and for being a ROGUE JOURNALIST.

13. If Media Industry deserves to restore some of its respect it should stand up together and condemn this gross misconduct of Rajdeep Sardesai and ensure that he is not employed by any media house. Just because there are some creatures like Rajdeep Sardesai who have hood-winked the "system" so far and gotten away with it does not make it a birth-right of the media industry and the birth-right of every other media professional to either support such creatures so as an aspiration that the FIFTH ESTATE will continue to beseech power over the minds of the masses. LASTLY & MOST IMPRTANTLY: TO every Media PROFESSIONAL: Public ka khaate ho, public ki bajao mat. Jis thaali mei khaate ho usme gandh mat karo. Be respectful of people. It is the masses who made you to be stars in the first place by having respect for you and if you have become a victim of your own creation to believe that you are going to be able to brain-wash masses ad infinitum then you are at a total loss of realizing a fact that India is no longer going the path of becoming a Banana Republic. Some rogue journalists who did not fulfil their DUTY to be WATCHDOGS of democracy and aided as mere tail-wagging dogs the conceit and treason perpetrated by the Banana Republicists are going to be in for shock after shock.

Open Letter VIII to Shri Narendra Modi: Cold Storage, not Cola is the answer

Dear Modi Ji,

With utmost humility I beg to point out that mixing fruit juices with cola will mar the pleasure of both the juices of the fruits as well as of the colas. I prefer to have each as an original. Those who may enjoy such interesting drinks can surely always mix them at home and savour the concoction.

The problem of farmers is real. The problem of consumers is also real. The erstwhile Congress Government and its illustrious agriculture minister have wreaked havoc in mismanagement of prices. The farm to retail pavement shop price gaps are monstrous. The fluctuations in prices are equally demonic and are happening so often that one feels a deeper Kaliyuga has set in. This situation is identical even for vegetables.

With unbearable price shocks being given so regularly, the consumption of fruits and vegetables has declined on a per capita basis, rapidly. Our nation is suffering therefore from all angles on this phenomenon. In any case, a small percentage of the population enjoys colas and a much much smaller fraction of that my enjoy the interesting recipe you have proposed.

We cannot ignore at all, the impunity with which every retail market in India today is flooded with imported fruits. There is a failure of developing fresh farm sales logistics in our country. This alone explains simultaneously the phenomenon of hungry farmers, hungry consumers and imported fresh farm produce on the pavements.

A simple common-sense solution from the mind of a "bania" economist as me is:

1) Investment Corporation for Farm Dis-intermediation: Create a corpus fund of a 1000 Crores, at the least, for a such a new entity. The only roles of this entity will be to:
a) Extend equity and debt funding to budding entreprenuers who will create world class cold storage facilities across the nation.
b) Sourcing latest technologies for refrigeration and cold storage retail outlets, transportation units etc. &
c) Incubating manufacturing units that will make cold storage equipments and transportation and storage units.

All such cold storages should be competing with each other to offer the best storage and Indenting services DIRECTLY to the farmers. No cold storage will act as a principle whether as a trader or as a broker. Strictly every cold storage will only earn a fixed percentage for services rendered directly to the farmers direct sales co-operatives. No harm if big business wants to get into the business of creating cold storage chains. They too will ONLY act as Agents and never as principles. If big business can find value in assured returns by investing in mega projects for power, this too will be a viable and attractive business for them.

2) Encourage and incentivise DIRECT FARM SALES co-operatives throughout farming communities. Such co-operatives can be regional and around specific crops etc. etc.

3) Let the culture prevalent in more progressive economies such as Singapore etc. where people take even a slightly longer walk to go to a cold storage for buying fresh, hygienic, nutritious and of course much more beautiful looking fruits and vegetables (God resides in cleanliness. Cleanliness is beauty too). This will also solve a big source of filth, unhygienic markets that will aid you in moving India to become a cleanliness driven nation, too.

4) Let the farming direct sales co-operatives compete with each other to DIRECTLY RETAIL their produce to final households. The Cold storages will NOT BE ALLOWED to become traders. The only two sources of revenues for the cold storages will be to provide storage, handling services on one hand and to provide indenting services on the other. Indenting services in the context of the Cold Storages will allow them to act as agents of the DIRECT FARM SALES CO-OPERATIVES and will never act as principles, traders or brokers. For a fixed fee, they will receive the farm produce against Bill-T and the banking system will clear the payments. Given the nature of the produce is perishable and if the pricing is determined by the farmers then too there is low risk for all involved. Since in a cold storage the shelf life of the produce is much much more, the risk of wastages is low even if prices are higher than what consumers can absorb. As the next consignment will be ready to get into the cold storages, automatically the farmers will have to cut prices to a level where supply can be absorbed by demand. The risk of hoardings in a smoothly flowing logistical system is low. Only where masked middle-men flourish the hoarding kills the farmers, the consumers and even the produce!

5) The middle man today acts at endless layers providing Indenting, financing, brokerage services. They are the ones who never become visible to the end consumer and yet they are the one's who must be the most organised set of players in the entire eco-system of farm produce retailing. The most organised player in the food-chain then gets the fattest and clearly at cost and peril of both the producers and the consumers. Time perhaps, for India to move this middle-man out from the middle of the affairs of our fresh farm outputs.

Open Letter VII to Shri Narendra Modi: Simplify our taxes to put India on the global economic leadership orbit

Simplify all the taxes that the Government levies. It will not only raise compliance, but will actually start achieving the goals of taxation.

We have been modelling our governance, as a later age democracy, on the basis of what the West has had been doing.

Income Tax: If the goal of anyone aspiring to achieve growth and progress, whether an individual, a society, a nation or a civilization then having progressive Income Tax defeats the basic premise of undertaking any economic or business initiative. In a progressive Income Tax regime those who produce larger incomes and larger wealth face a rising rate of punitive taxation. Such a tax regime is a deterrent to respecting the process of income and wealth generation. Its a hypocrisy, particularly in the Indian civilization that likely is the only civilization in the present day that worship Mahalaxmi -- the Goddess of all wealth. Income Tax must only be a contribution towards governance and not a punishment for having generated more and more income.

A clear intention, by way of a policy announcement to bring down Income Tax rates to a FLAT 15% for everyone in five years, reducing progressively 3% tax each year is going to put India in a totally different orbit.

The root cause of black-money is intolerably high Income Tax rate. At the core every human being seeks growth and progress. High Income Tax rate do not deter the enterprising from making money, but only deter them from declaring how much they are making because the progressive Income Tax regime is disrespectful to the goal of wealth creation.

Soon as such a policy is announced, it will make the Discounted Cash Flow value of putting up new enterprises in India way more competitive than almost every other nation. If a tiny island as Singapore with frugal and limited resources could become the abode of Laxmi where capital continues to flow from the haven of Switzerland, then India with its endless human resources, every soil type, every mineral resource, a very large captive consumption market will be the haven. Not only we will create a compelling superior alternative to China in making India accepted as the world's next factory, we will also emerge rapidly as one of the most important intrepots and trading venue of this world.

Consumption Taxes: Excise and Sales Tax are effectively taxes on production and sales. Again there is a bad paradox here. Why should any philosophy of taxation penalise those who "produce"? There should be a unified Consumption Tax policy where there is no seggregation between Excise, Sales or Service Taxes. Anyone living in a family who consumes more than a fair share of the larger family's resources is looked down on and anyone who produces more is looked up to. Same way, once having straightened out the Income Tax regime where larger earners are respected, there is a need to have a progressive consumption tax regime.

For example, a Nano Car may have a 5% Consumption Tax, but say an Indigo may have a 10% tax and say a Tata Safari may have a 17% tax and say a mid-market sedan may have a 25% tax and say an entry level Mercedes may have a 35% tax and say a Land Rover may have a 50% tax and say going all the way to a Lamborghini it may have a 300% tax.

This thinking is not at all new. If Tobacco products have a very high rate of indirect taxation, the same logic be applied to each and everything. Necessities are untaxed or barely taxed. Conveniences are taxed more. Luxuries are taxed heavily and ostentatious indulgences are taxed punitively.

Same should apply for services. Visit to a General Physician be untaxed. Visit to a General Hospital be untaxed. But if anyone has to go to an expensive private sector hospital it may be taxed with heavier service taxes.

In the coming regime of GST, a single unified Consumption Tax regime is completely feasible.

Global Trade Taxation: Anyone from the old Bombay Club squirming at the thought of low taxation regime bringing in more competitive manufacturing from overseas and ruining Indian industry is just plane wrong. Let everyone in the universe open more and more factories in India and create endless jobs and endless new products. However, if there is a progressive consumption tax for any sales done on-shore by any manufacturer, whether such a company is owned indirectly through portfolio holdings by FIIs or a much more clearly fully owned subsidiary of a global manufacturer, our nation will not be consuming incorrectly. The best manufacturers who can provide the best products will be available to our citizens. That would raise the consumer surplus in the hands of every microscopic economic agent. In such a regime it is entirely possible and likely that the hedonistic producers such as the Lamborghinis of the world may sell only a tiny portion of their Indian produce (yes why will they not open their factories in a nation that has one of the lowest income taxes and every other resource) on-shore and make very large exports.

The need to regulate what should be allowed to be produced in India and what should not be will be totally perfunctory thereon. A progressive Consumption Tax regime will automatically, by the forces of the market-place, align the production basket of every manufacturer and thus of the nation.

Import Duties: Progressive Import Duty structure be put in place. Raw materials such as minerals or commodities may have a nil or near nil import duty to facilitate the most competitive manufacturing. Any intermediate goods that have a value content of production over and above the absolute raw material should be taxed progressively. In a progressive Import Duty regime, anyone who indulges in screw driver assembly business by importing semi-knocked down kits will be unviable. White-collar smuggling that is passing through until now as creative business structuring will be unviable.

Say for example, if anyone wants to import any type of sand, if there is a claim that enough good sand is not available in India for making semi-conductors, let them import it at a very low or no import duty. But if someone is importing refined silica, it should happen at a higher import duty. If someone is importing any semi-conductors then it should happen at a rate of duty that rises more than the rate of value enhancement from refined silica to a semi-conductor. If someone imports a fully fabricated chip then it must happen at a progressively even higher import duty. The fear that such an import duty regime that will make DVD players or computer or laptops much more expensive compared what they are priced in the Global market is totally unfounded. I will explain why.

There is a tax arbitrage in such a progressive Import Duty structure, for every global manufacturer. The more value creation such global manufacturers do in India the more profits they will make by converting Silica into RAM chips on the shores of India! The power of incentives drives economics. The process of gubernatorial intervention drives economics crazy, on the other hand. Let a progressive Import Duty regime thus incentivize more and more value creation on-shore.

Yet when you notice the combined effect of such a progressive Import Duty structure with a Progressive Consumption tax structure, then a simple example will illustrate the power of this simplification.

Say, a manufacturer of electronic cameras such as Nikon that would have to put up a factory in India, were to choose between importing its circuitry and memory chips from Samsung's Taiwan facilities at a higher import duty in India or will be able to buy a similar quality chip from a Samsung that would manufacture the same chip in India at a much lower price.

In the same chain, if Nikon were to sell a camera of 8 megapixels on-shore to Indian consumers that likely qualifies at today's standards as a convenience good at say a progressive Consumption Tax of 20% but will be able to sell a 32 megapixels camera on-shore that qualifies at today's standards as a luxury at a progressive consumption tax of 40%, then we have setup the world's perfectly taxed super-factory called India Inc. Why? Isnt it clear that Nikon India will prefer to buy from Samsung India than from Samsung Taiwan and yet Nikon India will prefer to export out its ostentatious produces while being keen to sell the convenience produces in India. In all the scenarios the low flat Income Tax rate will be compelling for Nikon to not only manufacture the cameras it intends to sell within India, but also the cameras it wishes to sell everywhere else in the world, from its Indian factories! If jargon is necessary to convince the erudite and the scholarly and for the economists, then this is a simple and a very lucid illustration of how Producers' Surplus will also go up in India.

A unified tax policy as this is arguing humbly to be able to raise both -- the Consumer Surplus as well as the Producers' surplus!

I will refrain from consuming your precious time in enlisting the endless multiplier benefits such as a far faster GDP growth due to compliance in income disclosure, appropriate consumption, much larger investments etc. etc. in this letter since I have enumerated them at length in my prior open letters to you. This simplification of our entire tax policies will bring in a quantum leap on both the level of value creation as well as its valuation for India.

Let me get an India that leads the world in according the fair respect to those who produce, those who generate value and pushes back those who consume unfairly. At the core of any challenge, the solution that is best is actually the one that is simplest. I urge, India rises to the simplicity of "Satyam Shivam Sundaram". The truth is basic and thus beautiful.

Open Letter VI to Shri Narendra Modi: A Novel Sovereign Fund, the India super ETF

Respected Modi Ji,

India is a sovereign entity. We have wealth. Why should we not have an India Sovereign Fund? Why should we restrict our imagination only to how the West does some things?

In answer to these two simple questions, here is a lucid solution:

1) Transfer each and every single share in every PSU, irrespective of whether any specific PSU is loss-making, profit-making, strategic or non strategic into the India Sovereign Exchange Traded Fund.

2) An ETF is an open-ended fund, by definition. Liquidity to the units of such a fund are provided by market-makers. The more liquid the units of this fund will become in time, the more liquid an asset the Government of India will be sitting upon. By common-sense, the more liquid an asset is the more useful, portable and thus valuable it becomes. The Balance Sheet of the Government of India will be cleaner, more liquid and thus more effective in meeting many endless goals.

3) If the Government of India will not participate regularly in buying and selling units of this Super ETF, then too, all kinds of investors and traders, wheather local or global, whether short term horizon seekers or long term value merchants, will participate. This creates an enormous investible basket and a new venue in financial markets for competitive capital allocation. Indirectly, the Government will have a liquid large pile of near cash with such a simple manouver. No need for going through intensely political, slow and often sensitive divestments that have sapped the momentum out of the reform process time and again. In a single stroke, display the readiness to disown the entire public sector. The conversion of all the holdings in the name of the President of India into an ETF is not divestment or disowning the PSU, but a preparation to do that in any proportion across the board in a diversified manner, continuously over time. A signal from the sovereign is good as the actions to come!

4) Whenever markets are in euphoric extremes, the Government of India can readily encash its liquid holdings of the units of this India Super Fund or the India Sovereign ETF. Whenever markets are drowning, if appropriate and timely encashment cycles have been utilized in the prior periods, the various vehicles of the Government of India can buy into "cheap" prices of these units. Over time, a net net divestment cycle will be smooth, regular, without any innuendos and conundrums.

5) Even if some PSUs may still not be listed, a professionally managed super-fund as this can cause listings, over time.

6) Tax arbitrage be made available to those investors in the super-fund who would on liquidating the units of the fund collect shares of the underlying holdings in proportion instead of cash and continue to hold such underlying shares through the cumulative holding period of 1 year eligible for long term gains. The benefits of hedging on these individual shares be allowed too. Benefit of such a structure is that without increasing the floating stock of the highly valuable PSUs, contestable price discovery will continue. This will likely ensure a higher Valuation Band for the PSU companies over time, than would be if such a structuring is not offered.

7) The decisions regarding when the Government of India liquidates any holdings of units in this Super Fund and when does the Government of India buys any units of the Super Fund be left to in the independent discretion of the Reserve Bank of India. Central Bankers that trade currencies world over are above any suspicions or allegations of Insider Trading. This should be good enough a reason for all to trust the Central Banker of our country in trading the holdings in PSUs purely based on its own macro assessments and its own estimates of the cash-flow needs on the Balance sheet of the nation.

8) Let us seriously examine the possibility of deleveraging the Balance Sheet of our Nation with this move. With an initial listing of the ETF, on the average six months' price of the ETF holdings of the Government of India a transfer should be made to the Reserve Bank of India and an equal value of the outstanding bonds of the Government of India should be retired out. A far healthier balance sheet of India will likely only improve our rating, than otherwise.

9) If such a large reduction in the Government debt comes by with this move, there will be a unique situation. Prices of Government Bonds would have moved up without throwing in any additional cash into the markets. Can interest rates therefore not come down and the risk of inflation in essentials will still not go up! If at all, this mechanism is exporting the inflation risk from consumables to asset markets!

I urge, you delegate this simple thought process to each key stake-holder in Governance, for a close inspection.

Open Letter V to Shri Narendra Modi: India at crossroads, green-shoots in social equity

Dear Modi Ji,

Your slogan that you wish to create an India where every Muslim youth will have a computer in the other hand while holding the Holy Quran in one hand has inspired a new metric of thought around the dimension of social equity.

Reservations, whether for Muslims or for any other community, caste or religion have only caused crippling of mind-sets and dirty politics in the long term, despite having some merit for the short term.

I urge an open-minded examination of the following simple ideas, for all under-privileged communities including Muslims, for a period of 20 years from the day this policy is announced such as any future governments will have the courage to tinker with them at the cost of the overwhelming derision of the populace on one hand and for ensuring continued Human Capital Development across at least one full generation if not two:

1) Grant of exempt from Income Tax status for each male child / youth undertaking accredited education (say from a school affiliated to CBSE or ICSE) of at least 2000 INR per month, up to higher secondary education level.

2) Grant of exempt from Income Tax status be double for girl / female children at 3000 INR per month, up to higher secondary education level.

3) For college and higher level education and restricted up to the age of 25 years these numbers for boys and girls respectively have to be 50% higher, i.e. 3000 INR and 4500 INR respetively, per month.

4) These exemptions must be Inflation Indexed so that there is no need to tinker with the continuity of this policy for a period of two decades. Each future year, the exemption level will be the next higher 100 Rupee round figure for ease of computations.

5) For students at Graduation & Post Graduation level, the State must guarantee Scholarships at these equivalent rates to any student who is able to produce proof of lack of familial income and if that applicant has an academic achievement score that is greater than 1 standard deviation of the results of all participants in the immediately prior public examination (such as that of a University or an Educational Board). This must be kept at par for even students of non-OBC, non-reservation communities. Talent, hard-work must be guaranteed a pathway to progress irrespective of the familial financial competency. That truly was the goal of the thinking on social equity and distorted in vote bank politics of reservations and appeasements.

6) Not just the State, but the financially well-endowed and concerned citizens including corporates and big business, anyone who donates to Prime Minister's Social Equity Endowment for Education (lets establish one such now) receives at least a 100% exemption of this amount from taxable income. Section 80G is ineffective as it only grants 50% exemption and that is a point for another letter to you, in the future. The concept of Gupt-Daan, wherein anyone can donate totally anonymously without any details of the donor being captured in the system or any questions being asked must be made truly effective. Every Bank Branch in India should have the facility for anyone to walk in with cash earnt by whatsoever means to donate anonymously and to ensure that such funds indeed reach the Endowment, a receipt must be issued by such bank counters with unique serial numbers which when punched on the website of the PMSEEE produce confirmation details of the amount, time, place at which donation was made.

7) I urge, you deploy your charisma to convey across a point to every stake-holder of our civilization that India will have endless Akhadas for helping create Mohammad Alis. So what if as Cassius Clay he was famished, under-nourished and deprived, if he could find his way through to the training, the hard work he put up he indeed became the Champion. No dole-outs or distributions merely because one was purportedly unlucky to be born a Muslim or an Adivasi but has therefore become entitled to live a life of dependence and mind and soul crippling reservations. The point must become absolutely clear to the psuedo-secularists, the clergy and the entire population of India, that we are that civilization where every Cassius Clay has the opportunity to be a Mohammad Ali.

8) Reservations on one hand only provided a temporary relief to certain types of people but has been endlessly diluting our competitive and performance DNA as a nation. We have to become a nation of Mohammad Alis and that too grateful and happy Alis! So far, the political class has in the post-Independence India never focused on making Mohammad Alis, but only keeping the challenged Cassius Clays as challenged and dependent, permanently. I need you to empower every driven, motivated Champion to reach the goal of his destiny, that is to be the Champion that Allah / God / Bhagwan wanted him to be.

9) If education is the fore-bearer of all social equity, creation of ability and thus handling the un-levelled fields of opportunity, then we cannot leave behind the acknowledgement much more desperately due for the profession of teaching in India. Compared to any other profession, our teachers earn the least. A Guru has one of the noblest respnosibilities of inculcating values and create much better human beings than just teach medicine, engineering, management, mathematics, statistics, accountancy, geography or history. It is well understood in the Indian Civilization that "Bhookhe Pet Bhajan na honhi Gopala". So, until the competitive synergies sweep our nation into a state of much higher excellence, I urge you to consider a 20 year policy for having Income Tax Slabs that are at least twice at each rate of taxation for anyone who is a full time teacher with an accredited Educational Body, right from nursery education to the post graduate level education. Let the Governance of this nation eventually and now bestow the credit, respect and care that has always been undertaken by every admirable Raj-purush in our Ancient Civilization on the Gurus, the Rishis and the Sadhus. Our teachers are likely the true Gurus, Rishis and Sadhus by their karma. If we are indeed keen on a varn-vyavastha that is based on Karma and not Janma then I am very hopeful that your Government will make early moves in according the rightful economic upliftment as well as the moral and emotional respect for the entire teaching force in our country.

Open Letter IV to Shri Narendra Modi: Har Aam Aadmi ko ab Khaas Bana do

A moment when endless number of Indians are holding their breath in constructive anticipation of you taking over the helm of Governance of this Nation, I place some humble thoughts for you to evaluate so that growth, opportunity, entrepreneurship can be percolated down to every single unit of our population.

For many decades, oganisations such as the World Bank kept on coaching the whole world that countries such as India need to control their population for getting on the growth curve. We know by now, it was incorrect. The real assets of any civilization and every nation are its people. Let nature determine which soil helps flourish what population size. Yet, what is true is that if each and every unit of any population can become self-reliant and achieve the DNA of entrepreneurship then the larger the population the more prosperous a nation begins to become.

Here is a simple point by point plan:

Creation of the Ministry of Growth & Development: A new ministry, directly under the PMO, be created focusing on Growth & Development. A co-ordination ministry that will work along with all other ministries, every District Collector, every PSU chairman, every Revenue, Intelligence, Enforcement head with a singular focus of expeditiously moving forward any and every growth and development agenda.

Power of Incentives: Let there be a corpus of a minimum of 542 Crores of Rupees, corresponding to the 542 Districts in India. This corpus shall only be for rewarding District Administration level officers of the Government of India on a competitive basis for their results and efforts in bringing growth and development in their respective districts. Incentives work more than anything else. Let the new model of Governance recognize the power of Economic Incentives. Let there be tremenduous respect in the pursuit of growth at every level and let there be pride awaiting to ride on the shoulders of the minutest level of Administrative machinery. This corpus be spent in awarding, incentivizing and monetizing the measurable growth and development at the district level. Let the culture be established where the District Collector of each and every district is the Chief Entrepreneur of his district, if not the Chief Executive Officer of his district. Let there be an upwards pressure from each district to seek resources, solutions and results for each district. Let there be a new class of highest civilian honours and awards, such as the Param Visisht Vikas Medals to celebrate the achievements of administrative officials who would produce trail-blazing results of growth and development within their domains and impact the most number of lives constructively in empowering them to create Swarojgar. The endless Swarojgar Yojnas christened with the names of various political luminaries of yester-decades is best discontinued with immediacy.

Incentivise Micro-Finance & bring it into mainstream investment model: For decades there are tax breaks on investments in Equity Linked Savings Schemes or by way of Long Term Capital Gains or in Infrastructure Bonds. Let India in its new form under your leadership be the first country in the world to recognize the power of empowering the most microscopic economic apparatus in any nation, its lowest economic denominators – the human beings who have no capital, no land, but they do have an under-developed human capital. The Human Capital is the source of all wealth. A piece of gold or a piece of land has no monetary value if human beings do not accord it value. Hence, any other physical form of wealth is at best a mechanism for storage of wealth, whereas all sources of wealth are the human aspirations, abilities and persistence. Let us get to the core of all wealth creation, i.e. to have a world class apparatus for developing the wealth and income generating ability of every human being. The post Independence political discourse has off and on appealed to emotions of the landless by balking at the varied ideologies of land reforms. Why do we have to limit our imagination for our rural brotherhood that unless and until they have land they have no other abilities? Why? Each and every rural under-employed, landless or capital-less individual has a far more powerful capital, that of being a human being. Lets create the mechanism, resources, opportunities for ensuring this human being flourishes. Competitively structured Micro-Finance Corporations run by professionals be encouraged to be established. It should be modeled on the lines of a Mutual Fund or Unit Trust. Any contributions from individual assessees up to 1 lakh Rupees per annum and upto 10 lakh per annum from Corporate Assessees in such corporations be allowed as a deduction from taxable income. Let there be no monopoly ever in any layer of this new growth orbit. Competition allocates resources best.

Establishment of Skill Development Corporations: At each and every District level there must be one Skill Development Corporation at least. If there can be more such corporations in any single district to compete with each other even better. Let these be established by the private sector, with a motivation for profit. Let them be supported actively by the District Collectorate in the same way that State Industrial Development Corporations have nurtured new industry in any state. The Skill Development Corporations will study, evaluate, configure the suit of skills that are in the shortest supply in any district and create Vocational Training Programmes. Un-employed, under-employed individuals with no capital or land can come to these VTPs run by the SDCs with total responsibility on themselves. Let the individuals be financed by Micro-Finance Corporations to undertake these courses. Actively in collaboration the MFC and the SDC should hand-hold the trained individuals through the entire entrepreneurship life-cycle. Say for example if an individual is trained in providing cellphone repair services then right from selection of the location of his small “bhakhda” to branding it, to promoting it, to creating customer delight, there be Continued Entrepreneurship Education (the same way that a Chartered Accountant or an Investment Professional has to undertake ongoing Professional Education).

5. To expect that Government can and will do everything is in any case wrong. It also becomes the origin of sloth, corruption and negativity. The power of incentives will keep private enterprises on their toes to compete amongst each other in investing very well in the human skills of under-privileged India.

As this gathers momentum and as a time comes when on an average 50000 successful new entrepreneurs are created in each district giving India a total of two and a half crore new entrepreneurs, we would have built a formidable base. The multiplier effect of such income generation, consumption and savings is baffling and can hardly be over-emphasized. At such a stage the MFCs and the SDCs can join hands to foster endless number of co-operatives based on what are the unique productivities of each district. If one Amul could change so many lives and if one Lijjat Papad could create livelihood and respect for so many, what can these privately funded and publicly owned co-operatives with bare minimum gubernatorial interference achieve is beyond anyone’s ability to imagine. At such a stage if the brands and intangible assets created in such collectively owned establishments can be structured into separate companies and those companies are listed on the stock exchanges, then we would have reached a goal of creating a country-wide institution of producing millionaires in every mohalla, every bye-lane.

Many variations are feasible of this simple idea. The core of such thinking is Land Reforms have been a much abused political slogan. Let us go deep within the core of all wealth creation, i.e. raising the value and stock of our human capital.

A 10 year new low in Australian Equities?

Weekly Chart of the ASX200, Australian Equity Index Futures:

The drop into the 2009 March low at 3109 WAS NOT the Bottom but only an ORTHODOX lowest low bottom. The low seen in Nov 2008 at 3211 was the bottom of a clear 5 wave pattern within which the 5th is an extended one with minor inner i,ii,iii,iv,v waves.

The lowest low at 3109 is ACTUALLY an irregular b wave (a correction within the counter-trend move, that dropped lower than the cycle degree bottom of 3211. Such IRREGULAR B waves have a powerful forecasting value. Common-sense approach to breaking down any market movement as comprising of a confluence of movements (waves) over different time-scales would help visualize that when a MUCH LONGER DURATION WAVE / TREND is still down, whenever a correction within a counter-trend wave would come at the first instance it would go lower than the low of the prior wave in the larger direction. Such an IRREGULAR B wave helps create a forecasting courage that whenever and howsoever higher the prevailing counter-trend move of last 4 years would get over, the next move down, will break the 2009 lows!

The rise since this Nov 2008 low to now is abc(W)-abc(X)-i,ii,iii,iv,v(C)(Y). Thats in a simpler notation a completed WXY pattern that is often the structure of a corrective to the main trend. What Next?

The reversal that has already worked out on this market in the last several weeks can:

Either drop in a straight line forming a five part C wave and take us to 3000 area!

Or, it can drop in a 3 legged structure to 4425 area to form another X wave, then rise back into a high higher than seen few weeks ago to form a Z wave and then EVENTUALLY drop to 3000 area in a cycle degree wave C.

In either scenarios, for now we are going to 4425 to begin with and we will know by the time we reach there from the emergent wave counts whether with a rebound back to the recent highs or without, we will go to 3000.

I urge, such steep forecasts be not dismissed merely because they are steep. Why? Did Gold dropping from 1800 to 1200 look like an extreme idea? But it happened. Markets have a very old wisdom that confidence is the top and fear is the bottom as reminded few days ago by a colleague. It then clearly means, things seem impossible all the time in the markets and they keep getting possible.

Beeping Red Light Alert on the US Stocks to Long Bond Price Ratio

Traditional FED Model supposes that the Earnings Yield on S&P500 and the US 10 Year Long bond are in equilibrium. To check how and if this worked in history, I created a spread chart on a weekly closing basis subtracting the 10 year long bond yield from the earnings yield of S&P500 as shown in the chart below:

This spread measures the equity risk premium which refused to go positive through 1983 to beginning of 2003. Many times this risk premium came and found resistance at the zero level during this 20 year long period.

However, from 2003 to now, there is a continuous upward "Drift" in this indicator / variable / statistic. It has refused to go down below zero few times in this new regime, but has a strong uptrend regression channel. Until this "drift" breaks down, I am comfortable to surmise that the Equity Risk Premium in the United States is on a long term incline.

Definitionally, I disagree with the too much approximation such an idea does since the Earnings Yield on S&P is arrived at by taking historical earnings divided by Market Price, whereas the Bond Yield has anticipated cash flows of future more clearly.

So I worked around and tweaked this idea RESPECTING the Market Price way more than anything and created the SIMPLIFIED FED Model by dividing the price of the S&P500 near expiration futures with the US Long Bond near expiration futures. Why?

The price of an equity index discounts all possible future cash-flows at the ever changing “appropriate” discounting rate that is market-implied. Comparing price of equity index to price of long bond thus removes the conundrum of driving by looking at the rear view mirror.

A fantastic clarity emerges on this price ratio chart, that I am naming as the Market Implied FED Model:

PRECISELY 1 week ahead of the top of 2000, 1 week ahead of the top of 2007 and 1 week ahead of the bottom of 2003 and 2009 this ratio chart had Sell and Buy signals.

For those who are more quantitatively inclined each of these prior 4 key tops & bottoms, this ratio went past +2 and -2 std deviations respectively.

This present week, Price ratio is already past 2 standard deviations, RSI of this ratio is divergent too. Hence, if in the next week US long bond price performs better than the S&P500 futures, it could be a firm shrill whistle of a market top coming for equities.

This indicator and this note are pre-emptive, only a warning sign-post. The perils of forecasting place one sometimes before a grinding road-roller too. Nothing is permanent, indicators included. But then, I must find some reason to believe why this excess in the relative performance of stocks to bonds in the United Stated will defy a 13 year long relationship now!

Until I find a rationale, I will keep a close eye on the relative performance of long Bond and SnP 500 through the next week. More or less everyone has become complacent of a world that will remain permanently healthy on steroids.

If indeed the US Long Bond starts moving up sustainably from here while FED taper is lurking around the corner, how shall we reconcile to Bond Price Rally without significant yield decline? Well when a flight to safety becomes necessary, the trouble could actually be coming to this world from an origin that is not yet on the oceanographs. Which economies will uncoil relatively stronger rate rises making the US Long Bond a safe haven?

The Market Implied FED Model is what I call my simpler and more realistic one. It is beeping a red light alert!

Grand Trunk Road was an idea that made a long term impact on what the India until Shri Vajpayee took over came to be. The Golden Quadrilateral since then put us in the next orbit. Well more and more roads can continue to be built.

A silent leakage that needs desperate and immediate plug-in for the economy, which can turn the entire fortitude of growth seekers is in making our Indian Railways World-class.

It has reach, it has expanse, it has an unparalleled legacy, it has customers. What it lacks is the power of competitive resource allocation and alignment of goals with the customer, i.e. our nation. Its been stuck in a bureaucracy. This bureaucracy worked well until the English Imperialists managed Railways and who were deploying every capability for creating their gain out of India. Then after independence that lesser goal also got lost. Petty theft, in comparison with the mountain of wealth and opportunities that the Railways can create, has got us all lost.

I propose:

1. Indian Railways be re-organised into:

a. a significant number of zonal companies with operating licenses, that are to be bid transparently for,

b. Each zone must have three companies at least. These companies will be Railway Traffic Companies (RTCs).

c. Assets of a strategic national level foot print be part of a separate group of companies that may be akin to Railways Infrastructure corporations (RICs).

d. The Equity of the Railway Infrastructure Corporations must be held ONLY by the Railway Traffic Companies. This is to ensure that fair economic usage happens out of an industry wide management by objectives. No Government ownership of the infrastructure. All by private profit seekers who will compete with each other in a collaborative fair manner. Why cant cartelization sustain in such a model? The one’s who can grow competitively will seek more of the resources of the RICs becoming Quality Differentiators and those who cant grow competitively will become Price Differentiators. This segmentation that will grow naturally will keep resulting into competitive war-fare between companies. Competition is the only tool to extricate efficient allocation and management of capital and manpower.

e. To ensure safety standards of the highest levels in the world are ensured, no Government Servant or Minister needs to any longer go and shed crocodile tears. Make it a norm that every RTC must have adequate insurance coverage purchased to compensate for every accident resulting into loss of life and property. Competitive Insurance industry will automatically price out the risk for premia of inefficient companies. Make it mandatory that if criminal negligence is found, mere pass-through of compensation received from Insurance Companies will only clear a Civil Liability of an Insurance Contract, but the Criminal liability shall be administered rapidly for such negligence. If the mandatory CSR 2% of Top-line of these Companies is made to be spent by these companies on Safety & Passenger welfare, Indian Railways will become a world-wide delight. That is the level of leakage along the tracks...

f. Let there be endless Railway services companies. Private Food Chains of Indian brands are growing heavily on understanding of local tastes, practices, habits, culture. Let those bid for providing catering services on various routes. Government should be there to only to do quality control. To prevent hafta-raj in this monitoring role too, Let there be Electronic Feedback Units on stations and within trains.

g. Let there be Railway Sanitation Companies that will be contracted by each of the RTCs if they wish to outsource such works with stringent contracts for maintaining highest levels of hygiene in their trains. Penal Terms and Quality Control contracts by RTCs to these RSCs can ensure much better standards.
h. Let there be endless Railways Advertising Services Companies which will compete with each other to optimize the Revenues from Advertising and Multi Media information display services on the properties of the RICs.

i. Let each of these companies freely access the capital markets to find capital on the merit of their performances.

… and so on and so forth. Indian Railways is too big to fail India now and too big to manage and grow any longer. Hereon, smaller parts competing with each other are the best self-regulatory growth mechanism.

Let the Government of India focus on collecting fair taxes from these companies. Ensuring fair business practices and cut out a huge headache of corruption, inefficiency, nepotism, public outrage, drain on national resources. Let Railway Budget be a piece of History. Let us as a nation instead celebrate the Railway day, hereon, as you become the Prime Minister of India.

Let the newly formed companies that are going to be bid by only qualified private sector participants (enough promoters’ capital (upfront 5000 Crores or more of Promoters’ capital, not collected from Public), experience in handling complex businesses, clean reputation at law etc. etc.

How do we however break-up the work force, the transitioned IQ of generations that have managed the Railways? Well instead of the phony IPL cricket matches with phony bidding of spot fixers etc., let the Private sector bidders study, grill and choose which managers of the Railways they will woo to join their ranks. Let this one extremely large segment of Government Servants find the pride back in their uniforms. Let them earn as per their competence and amount of work, so that none of them ever feel the need to feel some warmth under their palm in a dark corner of a train bogey or a humid office corridor. This one stroke itself will clean up a lot of the Governance and set the urge in other businesses the Government runs to become totally private.

Let the best of our Railways Managers compete with each other to find joy and satisfaction in improvising, innovating, getting acknowledged and celebrating their and every other Indian’s life. Why, would it not be inspiring to see Railway Captains flying by in private helicopters seeking to bid spare bogies for moving freight, than to just see IPL Captains flying around on endless fixations?

Its common knowledge that if the ROI on the assets locked under the Railways can even move up to the GDP growth rate, India can wipe out its budgetary deficit in 2 terms of a full Government.

Lokpal or Janlokpal, whichever comes by and only within the framework of Democracy, will find acceptance at the grassroots level, when those in the Uniforms, find it feasible to live in a meritocracy, in a world that rewards achievements and where dignity and pride become precious again.

Theatrics of Navratnas has played out ad-infinitum, ad nauseum. Lets seek with utmost sincerity and seriousness this Param-Ratna, our Indian Railways, the engine of a Swarnim Bharat! Lets unleash our potential and scale up the Econo-kinetics in one stroke and change the course of our destiny, forever.

I urge you, the British Raj created the Railways even if for their private gain, they integrated India. Now, you should seriously indulge a debate to let this Nation understand that our greater integration and glory will come from disintegrating this power-hosue of our Railways into smaller, younger, efficient units that will help us achieve in real quick time the world’s most admirable transportation System. The American Railways Boom is what created truly the foundations of an Economic Super-Power. We have as a nation humility to learn from the achievements of all others.

Open Letter Two to Narendra Modi : Swarnim Bharat

Dear Shri Narendra Ji Modi!

Corruption has become such a pressing issue that a totally opportunistic new brand of politics has emerged, the politics of corruption. Utopian slogans and shallow zingoism is what the people of India have so far received.

I demand from you, that in your capacity as the Leader of the BJP Election Campaign you impress upon those writing your party’s manifesto, must include in their promises to people, that:

1) Practical solution for efficient governance that is freed from corruption:

a) Immediately as you achieve victory in the forthcoming elections, you shall announce a concrete strategy for bringing at par the compensation of each and every Government servant with the compensations prevailing in the private sector, if not more, within five years. Proper valuation of all perquisites and benefits given to various grades of Government employees, fair bench-marking of total compensation and a modular plan to regularly increase salaries to bring at par with the private sector within five years is the necessary stepping stone for the masses to begin abandoning the path of corruption. This is critical. The zingoism to punish every Government servant and stuff the jails is complete balony, without first guaranteeing a life of dignity where compensation commensurate to the responsibility and accomplishments of tasks is not put in place, first. Punishment works only when the rewards are worth-while. I need my country to acknowledge the fact that a police-man, for an example, must first live a life of dignity and is paid enough to not have a need to sell his pride. Restoration of pride in the roles of governance is critical for good governance. It is pride alone that sustains missions of building families, societies and nations.

b) Balanced with the prospects of fair compensation, stringent application of punishment to any Government servant indulging in any kind of corruption should be instilled across the system in a time bound manner. The Janlokpal or the Lokpal has to be an instrument of strengthening democracy and not an institution beyond democracy.

2) Re-invention and Re-tooling of Judicial process: A country where law of rules and rule of law find the right balance is one, where top-priority must be accorded to provide all the necessary resources of streamlining the process of executing justice. Total computerization of each and every Court as well as police station is now critical. Transparent & timely dispensation of justice will undoubtedly add a significant multiplier in the growth process. Whatever budget is required to achieve a time-bound up-gradation of our Courts & Police Records with total digitization and computerization must be promised right in your Election Manifesto. Don’t worry about where the money will come from as there is much more than enough being wasted in countless adventures.

3) Government shall stick to the business of Governance, only: In the name of economic reforms and divestments, the last decade has been a sad joke. If in one state that you have lead, you could infuse the enthusiasm of the Global Business Community to this degree, a written commitment from you that the Government shall get out of every business, irrespective of profitable or unprofitable, within the first five years and stick only to Governance is critical.

4) Swarn-desh and not just Swadesh : Due to the perilous taxation regime, solution for which I have already written to you in my Open Letter No. 1: Time for Economic Re-invention on 4th July 2013, globalization appears to have potential perils of Multi-National Companies milching away profits from India and taking away our wealth.

However, soon as a tax-regime is brought in place wherein Income will be taxed Flatly at one constant globally competitive rate and Consumption will be taxed at progressively higher rates as a consumer moves his choices from existential to luxuriant, there will be an incentive for every business everywhere in the world to be happier in keeping more profits in India. Thus an open-armed open-door for receiving every business enterprise in this world to come and compete within and beyond India will become practical for India and for the World of Business, together.

Let Swadeshi no longer mean that nepotism, inefficiency, corruption, License-Raj, hoarding & super-profits will be inflicted on our people, any more. Let Swadeshi hereon mean that anyone who is willing to bring capital, talent, skills, technology, know-how and the will to produce income and wealth to make a Swarnim Bharat is welcome! Let opportunities be brought to India and no longer be taken away from us!

5) Value of my Money: When agents of the World Bank come to prevail over Governance, despite the slogan shouting of Economic Reforms and Progress in a decade, the value of the INR has collapsed to an all time low! This is loot, call it by any other name. I am ashamed, in broad daylight my nation is being robbed. A clear written commitment ahead of the Elections is what I need from you that India is not going to be sold for a song, ever again. I need to be assured that the value of our currency will reflect our achievements.

6) Privacy Laws: The right to keep one’s private matters private must be respected. Appropriate legislation must be promised and then implemented that safeguards basic rights to privacy of all the citizens.

My country has been deprived of fairness, professionalism and trustworthy governance for so long that my letters can never be complete. Yet on the same hand, you have inspired back a hope and an implicit promise that Swarnim Bharat ab ho ke rahega. Thus, I shall return back with more letters to you.

Deeply respected Modi Ji!

Needless to repeat that hopes of an India that I can live in proudly and achieve satisfaction at having been a productive human being has come alive finally, with your presence.

I will jump straight to the points, without other un-necessary formalities. Economic Reforms have been around. Not enough, to unlock the true potential of India. I seek, Economic Re-invention, thus.

Economic Blue-print for the heralding of a New Era, not just in India, but setting up an example for the Universe to emulate:

1) Taxation, propagated irrationally, is at the root of all dark economic practices. It must be re-looked at intensely. In a family, the son who earns most is adored and respected for undertaking larger responsibilities and the son who squanders on irresponsible consumption is chastised and reprimanded. If my nation is a family and if every society is a larger manifestation of the familial roots of man and mankind then why should wealth creators and income generators be chastised instead of being treated as Heros?! For enterprise, action, work the socialistic posturing has turned the true sons of the family lurk and lurch. It must stop. Income Tax Rate, must be announced openly on the day you take oath in office of the Prime Minister, will be reduced systematically within a period of five years to 15% only! Simultaneously Sales Tax and other Indirect Taxes will be made progressive. For example a Nano Car may have a mere 2% sales tax, a Santro Car may have a 5% sales tax, a Maruti Dezire may have a 10% sales tax, a Honda City may have a 15% tax, a Honda Civic may have a 20% Sales tax, an Audi A4 may have a 25% sales tax, an Audi A6 may have a 30% sales tax and a BMW Series 7 may have a 50% Sales Tax! The more hedonistic a consumption anyone does, the more he pays to the society for his ostentatious ways of living.

2) Clear Long Term Policy where Income is Worshipped and Expense abhorred: The moment a firm announcement is made that Income Taxes will be brought down to 15% in a matter of five years, endless positive things will happen. Re-rating of the country as an economic destination will start happening soon as a clear signal is given that India no longer runs on adhocism but has clear path-breaking progressive plans of long term stature. This will result into higher sovereign rating reducing the cost of capital from overseas, rushing in of new business plans and investments into the country both by way of FDI as well as through stock-markets will open flood-gates of capital.

Business Activity will start booming. A lowering tax rate every year will increase tax compliance. Upon making wealth what a man craves most is respectable and peaceful existence. Since there is no choice, due to a corrupt political system requiring existence of pools of large hoardes of cash, the high income tax rate becomes a sufficient motivation for big business to evade taxes. With a rate that is competitive globally, the increased on-board profit declarations will multiply market capitalizations of companies and the rapid multiplication in wealth will be a compelling enough reason for unprecedented tax compliance. Not only thus the tax compliance enhancement will take care of the dent in the loss of revenue to the exchequer, the rapidly enhancing Economic Income Multiplier along with Business Activity Level Boom, lowered cost of capital will create an unprecedented environment for celebrating creation of wealth.

India is a civilization where Mahalaxmi is worshipped. On the Diwali day we worship coins, gems and bullion. Our Samskar has been to not merely cherish wealth which socialists also do, but to celebrate the creation of wealth & to worship the source of wealth, i.e. the Mahalaxmi. Please help my civilization rediscover its samskar. How come those who are doing upasana of Mahalaxmi are villains and not heroes in our Civilization now? Where is my India gone, where God lived? The creator, Lord Vishnu, bestowed every resource on our geography so as Mahalaxmi could reside permanently here. Yet, it is we the people of India who must create the ambience and open-ness to receive Mahalaxmi as our permanent guest. To tax her incrementally rather than her use has taken her away from us. Switzerland & Singapore are two places which respect the upasaks of Mahalaxmi and that’s why she resides there more than in other places. By shouting slogans and challenging the democratic setup some attention grabbers may delude some of us that their rants will bring the capital from Switzerland to India, but they are clearly ignoring that Mahalaxmi is also known by the name Chanchala and she floats in this universe at her will visiting and living in place that truly understand Her ethos and have profound understanding of how She is to be treated.

Please thus, herald the Era, the Yuga-parivartan wherefrom Creation of Wealth will be a Celebration and Squandering of Wealth will meet with opprobrium, chastising, discouragement and penalty by making a flat low Income Tax Rate but a progressively higher Sales Tax.

The progressive consumption based sales and other indirect taxes will make India the ultimate factory of the universe. Since, lowered income taxes will incentivize production and sale of anything and everything and motivate larger and larger capacities for production creating jobs, trade and opportunities, the self regulated consumption mechanism due to higher and higher tax rates of sales and other indirect taxes on consumption would mean that even if extravaganzas, luxuries and super-brands are produced out of Indian factories, they would naturally be exported away to countries with irrationally flat consumption taxes but progressive income taxes.

So called modern economic thought is a hypocrisy. Progress and Wealth Production have to be acts that are celebrated by the whole society and hedonistic consumption must be something that should compensate the society. The modern day tax regimes have been upside down, the world over. To lead the universe, India has to lead in path-breaking new economic thought & action. The true essence of Swadeshi is to not isolate ourselves from the world, but to invite the world to be our good guests, bring gifts of their effort, capital and expertise and in the process leave our household a happier and vibrant place.

Compared to China, we have a powerful asset called Democracy and the Rule of Law and endless mass of competitively priced educated and trained manpower. If domestic consumption is going to be self-managed due to progressive consumption tax, exports will boom as every key business enterprise on our planet will vie to shift its production abilities in a territory as India that God has bestowed with every climate, every soil type, every mineral, every resource and endlessly rich variety in our Human Resources.

3) Re-invention of Human Capital: In the name of land reforms Congress has looted the morale of our Rural population as much as communists have. However, both these political thought processes have only worked at enriching the rich farmer, further.

No doubt agricultural revolutions will have to be really brought, but what is a key point of importance that we have continuously missed since independence is that the real source of wealth is the human being himself. Land without human beings is of no value. For that matter any asset without human beings is of no value to human beings. The real wealth and all of its origins lie in human capability. To hopelessly tie the future of the future generations in rural India to lack of land and unfair distribution of land is a sad veil at permanently destroying the hope, ambition, morale, skill and potential of our people.

I strongly wish that a leader of your stature should on an urgent basis institute the following, to establish pilot projects all over the state of Gujarat as a demonstration to not just India but the whole world:

a) Each district should have a very powerful and well funded Polytechnic that will focus on imparting skills to people interested in creating self-employment. BJP Leader Shri Manohar Joshi has a model organization by the name of Kohinoor Technical Institute in Dadar area of Mumbai. I urge, you rush some of your top thinking minds from your team to study that institute which is despite its achievements a pale small setup in comparison to what needs to be setup at each district. Perhaps an institution of similar nature, but with the resources and scale of a huge university is required in each and every district.

b) District Magistrates must be fully involved as leaders at each District Level, to run surveys and assessments on estimating which facilities and skills are lacking relatively in their districts. Do people need more Television repair mechanics, motorcycle repair mechanics, English and or Hindi language teachers etc. etc. for an example.

c) Micro-finance institutions must be promoted, partly by funding from the Govt. of Gujarat, partly by seeking funding from global multilateral agencies such as the International Finance Corporation and partly by the people of each and every village. Hamare desh ke har naagarik ko nav-nirman ka maalik banana hai. Less than the need for money from our people, we have to get their heart, soul and mind.

c) Nothing will be done on a charitable basis. We have to create a million Dhirubhais, a million JRD Tatas, a Billion self-dependent respectable human beings. Training courses will be sold to people by the polytechnics, even if at fair costs and at no profits. People will take micro-finance institutions’ funding to even buy these courses. They will then obtain more micro-finance to set up their tea-stalls, motorcycle repair centers, TV repair shops etc. etc. The whole approach rests on making people confident at taking risks of taking loans and buying training and setting up their own economic units that are not dependent on land or large capital but only on their imagination and effort. Swaabhimaan, Swaavalamban, Swaadheenta!

d) The community in each village that will become the micro-finance lending committee will act as the moral deterrent for anyone from becoming frivolous. “Why after all the training, finance and support a young man or woman cannot create income and then wealth without land” will become the social milieu. Traditional families which have had values and which thus provoked a sense of shame on failure and a pride on achievement is what one wishes to do through the creation of village and district wide familial atmosphere.

e) The next layer of this Rural Revolution would be to start propagating the sense of co-operative movements and help build brands and raise capital for these co-operatives through capital markets. Shri Kurien did a path-breaking work in creating Amul as a Brand. Had he stretched his vision to create a Company fully owned by the Co-operative and shifted the Brand into this Company and obtained Private Equity Funding to hire professionals for growing the marketing of Amul and eventually got that company to list on the Stock-markets then the Anand Milk Marketing Co-operative Federation would have easily monetized an asset to the tune of Rupees Twenty Thousand Crores. Each and every member of the Anand Co-operative would have been a Crorepati and their Children would have by now been studying in IIM-A, Harvard or at IITs. A completely new class could have been created in the society. Progress is unlimited, like our imagination is. If this has not been done so far, what is stopping us from doing this now? To create an infinite factory of Arab-patis?!

f) Execution is what makes an idea work. You have the power to execute and get things done. As execution happens and as the desire to move from villages to cities is reversed and as a slogan reaches the sky, “Haalo re Haalo, Paachha gaam maaj jaiye” the sense of enterprise, ownership, effort and success will become a household idea. Israelis have this sense at the grassroots level. We have to acquire this sense with the same intensity and if we can acquire it with our size and diversity, we will then truly setup the path of making India the leader on this globe in not just thoughts, but as much in actions.

Without any doubt, without any questions an unflinching faith is arising again since Sardar Patel, that you can execute with zero failure tolerance. I humbly thus submit my wish-lists before you draft your election manifesto, with an earnest desire to extricate robust promises from you.

My mind races with endless imagination at how India’s potential could be unleashed. I clearly will never be able to finish the script of the ultimate saga that India will be. For now, I will close this open letter with a promise that I shall write endless more addendums, for you and our nation to reflect and then act upon.

Accept Excepting Expectations

When we accept another and/ or are accepted by another, we experience happiness. Yet, the duality of our perceptive screens comes along with certain possible occurrences that we need to except in our undertakings. One of them is to expect more. Another is to even have the fear that the other will expect more from us. To overcome the concept of expectations is thus necessary in any of its forms to reach a state of being happy, together.

So, this fits in well that we need to accept excepting expectations. When two individuals can stick to accept except expectations a thriving relationship can happen. Even if one of the two has a hesitation of making any commitments of any duration, the specific moment when accept except expectations comes true it becomes a moment of total happiness and bliss.

If one can achieve one such moment only then the prospects of moving from this one moment into an ongoing series of such total moments is possible. Without a beginning, there is no journey. So, even if either person has a fear that the other may expect, both of them will have to still accept each other excepting even the fear of being expected from.

If two individuals can graduate to achieving one moment of “Accept except Expectations” Ahha happens. Happiness can thrive only on this seed of ahha... ! Every other state is unhappiness. So it is not enough to not expect, but as important to even overcome the fear of another expecting of us.

A fear is an anticipation, an expectation of a possible type of future, even if an undesirable one. This brings one to a concluding point, that when happiness is indeed ephemeral and momentary, the willingness to appreciate and live in each moment is the necessary beginning to have a life that can become a journey in happiness.

Given the fact that the entire body of knowledge that is known and will ever be known is comprehended by our minds through dialectical materialism, it becomes necessary that each person or in other words each soul rises beyond itself and seeks to connect with one other at least, so as the dialectical perception process of two minds can nullify the duality of everything and help both the souls reach states of totality.

To try and do this exercise in establishing, maintaining and retaining a connection with the invisible, unseen, unheard, unsmelt, untasted God is so much more difficult since our mind needs to be silenced to a point where our sensory organs are not pinging our consciousness for even one moment. The challenge gets much more manageable when we can begin to see the presence of God, if we need to feel or reach him, in experiencing the totality of any connect, relationship or interaction with another mind / soul also suffering from dialectical materialism. I have written before too, that it is not possible to determine if the mother made the child the child or the child made the mother the mother. The duality of this universe collapses in such a connection where “Accept except Expectations” can arise providing any soul the opportunity and plank to gauge at this universe with totality. So love, friendship, relationship etc. are ideas that can thus take one to a state of totality and each is thus then a path to experience, feel and acknowledge the divine. The key then is to Accept except Expectations.

Long ago, in the early stages of my career fortitude took me before one of the most exceptional achievers in my field. He had often remarked that “One may be smart with situations and sincere with people”. This one thought has so much power that it compelled me to think again and again. Over time, this seed of a powerful idea has transformed for me into, “One may expect from situations and processes but never from people”. This keeps one functional in the material world as well as the spiritual world of relationships.

As scientists, mathematicians, economists, traders etc. etc. we in any profession have to anticipate the likely outcome and only then choose to undertake one or the other decision. So we cannot be free from expecting a likely course of outcome from the material world to be effective in it. Yet the fact that our soul rides on our body, our spiritual existence rides on this material world. So while one must anticipate the possible outcomes of processes and situations, one must also be willing to let the soul and the spirit behind each action (karma) to Accept Excepting Expectations!

As Edward de Bono defines mind as a self organizing pattern seeking system, it is to be human then to be finding it difficult to not seek patterns within our perception. The entire spiritual challenge is to overcome our own mind. Until we reach that state, which rare few only do, it is still possible to be truly happy and have so by fulfilling relationships. How?

Even the focus on meeting and exceeding expectations of the other and not being worried about one's own expectations is just but one variant of Accept except Expectations! It is in giving that we receive better the joys of being human. The dialectical materialism collapses since in giving and finding with each act of exceeding the expectations of the other we are able to manage our own expectations better. If the focus shifts to finding better fulfilment of one's own expectations than in meeting with the expectations of others dialectical perception takes us over destroying joy, happiness and bliss.

So, focus on giving than receiving, focus on meeting with expectations than expecting and free yourself from the fear of that the other will expect more than expecting a larger joy and happiness. Accord the privelege on the other to be knowing what happiness is as much as you know about it and given that each action has an inducing reaction, a feedback loop and an effect of modifying the perceptions of the other, Accept excepting Expectations. Be happy, truly.

Rise in Happiness, Don't fall in Love!

Ahha is a feeling that is a manifestation of happiness. Expectations reduce Ahha!

Anger is an emotion that manifests when one feels one has been wronged. Thus there is an underlying expectation of what right should have been done to ONE and that has not been done or in lieu of that its opposite may have been done.

Guilt is an emotion that manifests when one feels one has wronged. Thus there is an underlying expectation of what right ONE should have done and that has not been done by ONE or its opposite may have been done.

What is right and what is wrong? They are not absolutes but contextual. Contextuality arises from the human subjugation to the dialectical nature of our perceptive screens. Sciences also describe the universe as dialectic. That too is perception. This perceptive screen arises from looking for underlying reasons and if then thinking. However, happiness becomes absolute since it is free from if then thinking.

If someone did not agree to spare time to share a movie with me then I get unhappy? That means I was not happy in any case and this cannot be the reason of not being happy. Happiness is in being, knowing one is fine and doing what can be done.

Pressure free, anxiety free, future free, past free. Living in the moment is a seed of happiness and if one can continue to live inside the soothing ovum of the present moment one can stay happy. Since nothing is constant except change, there will be moments that we will step out of the comforting and soothing and benign protective layer of the present moment and lose or change the intensity of our happiness.

Wisely happy are those who will return back to the moment and be happy.

To not expect is divine. To be human and still be happy is to constantly work at "managing" our expectations. Its not about NOT expecting, but its about expecting in a way that we can grant ourselves enough Ahha to feel we are happy and not just be happy.

Happiness is in knowing our limited perceptive ability, in appreciating the infinitude of the universe, in recognizing that we must open all gates for receiving positive surprises and in letting go of our inhibitions, fears, specificity so as we are not holding onto any particular doors but be available as an expanded soul to be able to go and greet happiness at any door it comes at.

No one else and no event can be a driver of happiness. Its a state of accepting this universe, accepting the self and be in harmony with what is. To subjugate one's happiness to something happening or not happening is the trigger by which we always diminish happiness. Such an absolute state of happiness is indeed difficult, yet please reflect if we can be aware of this is what happiness is and then constantly guide our soul towards reaching and staying in that state we can maximize happiness. Permanence, in an impermanent world, of even happiness is not feasible.

So I have a wish for you, please be as happy as you can be. Please let happiness come to you. Observe, listen, feel, reflect, accept.

Let love be your strength never your weakness. An absolute such as love makes us realize what we can know beyond the dialectical perceptive screens. Did the mother make the son or the son made the mother, the mother? Did the husband happen to make the wife happen or the wife happened to make the husband happen? Did one friend make the other the friend a friend or is it the other way round? See in this simple thinking there is no dialectical screen! Soon as one human mind or soul reaches another dialectical perceptions collapse! Get conscious of the absolutes since an absolute is but every other absolute! To realize and be aware of the absolute is what happiness is. One may choose to call one or the other absolute as Love, Friendship, Relation, God or whatever. Yet any absolute is just the absolute. Feel it, as many moments as you will!

Whenever you meet anyone, in your own mind or in this world, think and judge what are you able to give in happiness. When we are attracted to a quality or an attribute of another we like that one. Yet when we are able to continue to like that one despite the diminution of that quality, attribute or ability we are in love. So to be able to be liked despite who we have been or will be and thus be loved, there is nothing that we can do other than giving our selves in love. Commanding love is way easier and more permanent than demanding love. When you give, you command and when you seek you demand. Rising in love is about giving and falling in love is in seeking.

When love happens giving is receiving, less is more, silence speaks, impossible is possible, surrender captivates, God exists! The entire dialectical perception process collapses into an unconditional happiness. There is no if left in our minds which will then let us be happy!

So rise in love, never fall! Rise in happiness, don't fall in love!

Intimacy is a human necessity so as to be able to experience the true inner self. For most the goal of life is happiness. Thus the pursuit of intimacy becomes the carrier for experiencing the innermost happiness of the other. This provides one with ecstatic reflections of one's own at being able to give, share, care and make another find happiness. Its human.

Yet, the same act of forcing intimacy violates, vitiates and villifies forever the inner true self of the one who is raped. It is an act of expressing and experiencing the inner barbarism that a rapist harbours. That is all rapes leave for all. That is the only thing that a rapist can ever get, since intimacy the supreme human aspiration will only leave for the society the inner ecstatic reality of the indulgent.

To ensure fair usage of rules and law, once proven and only then, a barbaric mind be eliminated from the society. It is necessary to not only setup punishment that motivates the other hidden barbarians to heal themselves and become civil, yet also to protect the human among us to be not violated for ever.

While law and rules do get abused and there will be collateral damage that this society will have to suffer for now since it allowed to deprecate itself to such a low. A capital punishment is not only necessary now but it also must be meted out in a way that really puts the fear of the Divine into the violator. When we as a society would have healed from our current state of deeply damaged collective psyche, the rules can be executed with greater ease. Nothing is permanent. We were not always as bad and we wont remain so bad. But for this moment, where we have together fallen so low, we must abandon the high horse and the ivory tower of being a civil society to abhor capital punishment. In the context of where we allowed to slide down ourselves we must get over the pretense of being civil.

Just imagine, we as India are that civilization that understood intimacy to a level where it got elevated to be one of the sixty four key forms of art and we manifest our psyche in the Kamasutra ages ago. Today we have chosen to exist in a gutter that has only putrified remnants of our understanding of what it is to be human. If you cannot tolerate a smoker ruining the air in a restaurant how are you tolerating to live in a country where rapes happen with such impunity as if you and I don't exist? Think again, who raped this girl in a moving bus in Delhi? Think again if there is any single Indian who did not rape her?

Law will take its time to evolve and then at whichever stages of evolution our rules are they will have their human limitations. But, if you think it is at least as important for you to demand that in your country no one can be raped and no one's soul can be violated as much as you do demand that smoking cannot be allowed in public places then do remember prevention at every layer is necessary. Shame is not such a bad idea. It is shame that lets conscience prevail. Join your minds and rebuild the human fabric of shame in deploring, chastising, ostracizing every behaviour that is in nature similar to a rape: violation of the inner being of any human being and every woman.

You have a choice, you can continue to rape your own India, your own conscience, your own existence or just decide today that enough is enough. Don't confuse it with politics, governance or merely law. Realize you and I and every other Indian raped that poor girl in the moving bus of Delhi. I am at least today able to bring the courage to my being in hanging my head in shame and sobbing my lungs out. If you can do anything better, please let nothing stop you. If nothing else, can you not join me in crying your lungs out whether on twitter, facebook, linkedin, foursquare, on your blackberry messengers, writing Letters to the Editors, putting up graffiti on your college wall. Cant you do anything? Are you destined to living in a gutter?

If that be so and we are only going to blame politicians then make another choice at least to be doing whatever you do in coherence. Burn the Kamasutra then. Stop reading or writing poetry. Don't listen to music. Never dance. What's the point of painting anything ever. Never say I love you to any in your life. Don't claim your goal is to be happy. Do at least one thing right, please. Be a human or a barbarian. Do one of the two fully well and right.

आँसू : अब कभी मत आना

भरी दोपहर अपने अपने अँधेरे में घिरे,

कैसे वोह पल हमने साथ साथ गुज़ारे ।

आती जाती रौशनी के बीच साथ हँसे थे,

पर अपने अपने आंसूं अकेले ही बहे थे ।

कुछ भी बांट लेने को तो तैयार थे अब हम,

छिपाया फिर भी हमने अपना अपना गम।

ना ही था कोई डर ना किसी का कोई भय,

सता के गया हमें बस हमारा ही समय ।

हुआ एहसास की थाम के हाथों से हाथ,

कह दें आपस में कि अभी तो हैं साथ ।

मनों ने कहा एक दुसरे को मान जाओ,

आंसूं बोले आज अकेले अकेले ही बहाओ ।

ढलती दोपहर पे जब रौशनी लौट आई थी,

सूनी आँखों को सूनी आँखें ही दी दिखाई थीं ।

एक थाली से हमने साथ निवाले खाए थे,

साथ एक ही सुरा के प्याले भी छलकाये थे।

हम बिलकुल चुप रहेंगे यह फैसला किआ था,

Dear Muskaan and Khushboo,

Congratulations on achieving the highest possible score in your mathematics test. In the past too each of you has obtained a similar score but on different occasions.

I am all the more happy when I today receive your test reports and find that both of you have together achieved the highest possible, together while being in the VIIth standard and the Vth standard of your schooling, when you are 12 years and 9 years old respectively.

Concentration that helps in putting your best at whatever you are doing at a particular moment is clearly you have begun to exercise often. I want you to remember that when required you can practice the highest levels of concentrations necessary to get the best out of you. This score has been possible only with that.
Within a fixed period of time that an examination must be completed to think of nothing but the work at hand within a time bound manner is a mark of disciplined thinking and action. I encourage you to call upon this faculty as often as you are out to achieve anything, anywhere.

Mathematics is not just about numbers. Its an elegance of a state of mind and personality that transcends above the rhythms and cycles of perception and focuses on the completeness of relations, functions and theorems that describe specific constructs. Your ability today together, puts me at greater confidence that you will be achieving such poise and grace as often as you are required to excel at a particular situation.
The joys that can be achieved by solving a puzzle, a problem a challenge are ever present in any mathematical question that you attempt to solve. The prowess at mathematics should give you the opportunity to realize your ability at solving varieties of problems and puzzles that can be represented by symbols, signs and formulae. As you continue to grow as persons and as your repertoire of skills gets richer you should realize with ease that the most widely known scientist of our times, Albert Einstein, is known to have said that, “What can be counted may not matter in life and what matters in life may not be counted.” In stating such an idea he was never dismissive of the utility of counting but was emphasizing that the scientific approach, the path of reason, the pursuit of enquiry may not be limited by any one’s inability at converting thoughts to numbers, since before you can enumerate an idea or a thought you must grasp it to a depth that relationships of that idea to so many other ideas should be appearing very clear to you. Then an approach to quantification to test the consistency of the thoughts should get easier.

The bright glint that I noticed in the eyes of both of you as I met you with your reports tells me that achievement itself is a reward. The smiley that your teacher drew next to your marks is a memento of appreciation and acknowledgement. In life, there may be moments when appreciation for any achievement may not be as instantaneous and it may be a while before those around you will begin to appreciate of your work or contributions. I am sure you will remember the glint in your eyes today that you carry together and it shall be yours again and again in the future whenever you get the similar inner satisfaction of having done your best without having to wait for a smiley.

I must thank your teacher particularly, for such a nice and sweet gesture of saying so much to you in so few strokes of her pen. Brevity at any communication is elegant. So is the pursuit of any mathematical solution. Two different people can get the same answer, yet the one who achieves that with the minimum amount of reasoning and explaining has done a better job. Economy of movement is a hall mark of most achievers and in the elegantly written answer books that I see before me, clean hand-writing and simple solutions make me believe you are acquiring the correct attitude.

Objectivity that is feasible much more easily at Mathematics is not the sole reason for the higher probability of obtaining cent percent scores in this subject. There is a unique answer in Mathematics, most of the time. At other times if there is no single answer, there is a definite range or set of answers available most of the time. There are however, the irrational numbers, the indeterminate quantities, the undefined values (that often mistakenly are labeled as infinite) yet even in those outcomes it is uniquely possible to arrive at those conclusions. The abilities that you gather as good students of mathematics should help you acquire the wisdom to be able to cope up with the less deterministic situations that you would face in most other walks of your pursuits. The in-deterministic, non-deterministic and the undetermined are all to be studied with the help of the deterministic. That is what Isaac Newton, who perhaps was the best known scientist of the previous century, meant to say when he said, “standing on the shoulders of giants".

To be able to learn from others, to be intellectually humble in knowing and accepting you do not know something is the critical start necessary for beginning to know anything that you are going to know.

We both wanted to go nowhere,

Were afraid we'll end up somewhere!

We still kept on going ahead,
Were surely keen to not drop dead !

We live the same pretensions everywhere,
We're in escape ready to go anywhere!

We carried some wine and some bread,
Were her lips so blue to make my eyes so red!

We took consciously the road to nowhere,
Were now surer its there somewhere !

We were keen to travel together instead,
Were only interested in just getting ahead!

We are going well in pursuit wherever
Were not aware if there ain't any nowhere

We knew it well its a walk on the edge of a blade,
Were still moving to reach that sublime and the shade!

We kept on reaching here and there,
Were motivated to find it even if wherever!

We decided to crush the rousing facade,
Were ready to crash against every barricade!

We tried our best to not reach anywhere,
Were realizing stopping makes it always somewhere!

We dismissed ideas of liking being lust so widespread,
