May has been a BUSY month to say the least, so I didn’t spend much time digital scrapbooking. I did manage to complete 3 layouts though.

I created this layout for a May Project: Love, Me 2012 prompt. I started with a template from Fiddle-Dee-Dee designs, but deleted the spots for the photos so I could make this a journaling-only layout. I modified the font sizing for the quote/title work. And I adjusted the spacing of my journaling so its almost poem-like. I stuck with blacks, grays, and whites to coordinate with the topic of my journaling — fear.

I completed this layout during the National Scrapbook Day fun at Scrap Orchard, participating in a challenge by Fiddle-Dee-Dee Designs that included a free template. This page had so many layers — I love the depth the layers give the page. The repeating circle mat was included with the template, though more as a stamp, so I changed the opacity back to 100% and clipped a paper to it instead. The template also came with a blending layer above the background, so I clipped a patterned paper to that. I had a lot of fun playing with this template.

Yep, another template, this one from Storyteller Templates #5. I rotated it 90 degrees clockwise to fit my photo. I used the same splatter from the kit several times behind the layers, just rotating it different ways so it didn’t look the same.

Play Date | Puddle Jumpers Collection

I’ve been working on this collection off and on for the last several weeks, and I’m so excited to finally be releasing Puddle Jumpers! I love that it’s perfect for both water and mud — I definitely have LOTS of photos of my son playing in puddles of all kinds.

About my page: Speaking of my son & puddles … I scrapbooked a page about one of his common activities as a toddler — eating mud. I used a template from Storyteller Templates #5. I wanted my photo landscape, so I first rotated the entire template 90 degrees clockwise and then began my layout.

About Amber’s page: “I wanted to bring a sense of movement to my page to reinforce all the activity taking place in the pictures, so I used the frog elements near the edges as if they were jumping onto the page.”

About Jaime’s page: “When I saw the kit, I knew I wanted to feature all the papers in a way that didn’t overshadow the fun photos. Having lots of shapes on the page gave me a chance to use many of the papers, and then by using fewer elements and mostly clear ones, it allowed the papers to take center stage.”

About Niki’s page: “I like to think outside the box when I scrap a layout, by thinking of creative and different ways to use the elements of a kit. With this kit I used the green paisley element as leaves for the a few of the flower clusters.”

You probably never considered mixing pices of the A Life Expressed Collection with another of SuzyQ Scraps digital scrapbooking kits, but I’m here to tell you it’s a great idea. Since it’s graduation time for a lot of people, Suzy chose Achievement {the kit} for it’s Match Up pair.
