One of the highlights of our trip to the Adirondack Wild Center in Tupper Lake, New York was having the chance to see this beautiful owl up close. Many other guests of the Wild Center, young and old, gathered with us to see this wonderful creature and learn about things like how it is able to fly while barely make a sound.

There was lots to see and experience at the Wild Center. Attractions included talks like this inside the Big Wolf Great Hall and exhibits like those in the main exhibit spaces that showcase otters and trout. Additionally three main trails outdoors lead you around Greenleaf Pond or down to the Oxbow on the river.

Being an entrepreneur is no easy task. It takes vision, courage, hard work and more. As the owners and operators of our own virtual tour company, we know how a small business can be filled with its share of ups and downs, but we also know how at the end of the day it is totally worth it. As owners of our own family run business, we could help but be drawn to the owners of KandJ Produce.

The owners of KandJ Produce are two young brothers: Kyle Wafler and Jacob Wafler. It was encouraging to meet these two young entrepreneurs and see their passion for quality locally grown produce and service with a smile. We expect that their hard work, good manners and fresh produce will take these young men far. If you’d like to learn more about Kyle, Jacob and their NY grown fruits and vegetables check out the KandJ Produce Page on Facebook. Before you leave to learn more about these guys and to buy some of their fresh veggies be sure to click the image above to experience an interactive 360 degree image that we captured of the KandJ Produce booth during the Gore Mountain Harvest Fest.

We were happy to see Pandy the hot air balloon this year. Or maybe we should call it Persistent Pandy. This hot air balloon was the cutest of all the balloons at the 2011 Adirondack Balloon Festival. Unfortunately, on the day we were there, this hot air balloon never got more than just a few feet off the ground. It struggled, at first, between other inflating balloons and then against the winds. Just before the sun set, and after what must of been over an hour of attempting to get Pandy fully inflated and into the air, the crew of this wonderfully shaped balloon decided to hold off and wait to try to fly again another day.

Just before the crew called it a day we were able to capture this 360° image of Pandy and onlookers at golden hour. Click on the image above to experience the Pandy hot air balloon interactive panorama.
This was our second day at the Adirondack Balloon Festival and what a difference we experienced compared to the day before! On the previous day the skies held grey and the weather didn’t offer any chance for the balloonists to launch. We feared the same would happen on this day.

Small openings in the clouds offered us some hope and then, when the official weather report was announced and the balloons where given the okay to fly, the entire airfield came to life. Balloon crews worked quickly to prepare their balloons for take-off. Yards and yards of colorful fabric was spread on the grass. Fans and burners roared as people waited excitedly to see the colors and shapes lifted into the sky. It was a bit crazy, things were very busy and most of the balloons were in flight so quickly you barely had time to take it in. Honestly, it felt a bit magical seeing the cloudy skies fill with reds, yellows, purples, shapes and people in floating baskets.

Click on the image above to experience a moment of the 2011 Adirondack Balloon Festival. From the perspective captured in this 360 degree interactive image you can see (and hear) the balloons being filled and in the distance others that have already taken flight.

You may also want to experience the 360 degree interactive panoramas we created of Flecks Folly IV and the Pandy hot air balloon.

This pipe organ, built by The Aeolian Organ Company of Boston, was once in the residence of Mr. Curtis in Wyncote, Pennsylvania. It was relocated and built into the sanctuary of Christ Church and dedicated on May 29, 1935. This organ is still played each Sunday during church services and can also be heard during special events and concerts. The console built by Austin Organs in 1967 contains 7 divisions, 4 manuals, 126 drawknobs, 33 couplers, and 110 controls. Take note: if your the kind that likes lots of buttons and knobs this view is for you.

While Christ Church is a popular site for tourists, it is not a museum or simple historical house. Instead, Christ Church is an “active site” performing church services regularly just as it has done for over 300 years.

One of my favorite things at Christmastime is hearing Christmas carolers. As we were walking down the chilly streets of Jim Thorpe in December, to my delight there were carolers singing from the balcony of the Inn at Jim Thorpe across the street. We were able to capture some audio of their singing and create this 360 degree panorama for you to get a glimpse of what it is like to be there.

If you want to really experience being there we recommend putting on a wool hat, grabbing some hot cocoa, and lighting a holiday scented candle before opening the virtual tour. (Note: You may want to ditch the hat if you’re having a good hair day or at the office.) Otherwise, you can just enjoy the virtual tour of the Carolers at the Inn in Jim Thorpe on it’s own.

Visiting the Jim Thorpe Olde Time Christmas celebration is one thing we enjoy around holidays. What do you like to do during Christmas time? Feel free to share your best things to do or your favorite holiday spot! Maybe, we’ll have a chance to visit your favorite spot and create a virtual tour of it one day.

There were also local businesses in the Ballroom selling homemade scarfs, rare kids toys, among other interesting items.

The team at Samurai Virtual Tours enjoys spending, what sometimes seems like, countless hours in front of computer screens aligning pixels for virtual tours, designing layouts for websites and exploring the ‘internets’ for information, fans, and followers. Sometimes getting out into the fresh air and hanging out with friends and family at a unique venue like Grounds For Sculpture is a special treat.

Grounds For Sculpture, founded by J. Seward Johnson in 1992, is a beautiful 35 acre arboretum and sculpture park located in Hamilton, NJ. While our recent visit to Grounds For Sculpture was for fun and not “work”, we did manage to capture a few images during our trip including the ones used to create the 360° interactive panorama linked in the image above. In this image we see park guests interacting and posing for pictures with Depression Bread Line a bronze sculpture by George Segal.

To learn more about Grounds For Sculpture visit there website: GroundsForSculpture.org. Or, if you can, maybe you’d enjoy a visit there yourself and experience first hand a day walking the grounds, viewing the sculptures and taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings. Maybe, with careful exploration, you’ll even find some hidden surprises.

The Comcast Center is a 58 story, 975 foot tall glass skyscraper located at the northwest corner of 17th and Arch Streets in Center City, Philadelphia. Open to the public, the beautiful Winter Garden (the main public lobby) is home to two works of installation art.

The first installation is Jonathan Borofsky‘s Humanity in Motion. This piece shows ten stainless steel, life sized human figures walking across ten horizontal poles positioned at various levels of the atrium. In addition, it displays two more figures at ground level sculpted to appear as though they are looking up at the others.

The second installation is the Comcast Experience which is a 25.4 foot by 83.3 foot high definition LED screen. Reginald Wickham has been an artist for many years. Many know him for his work as an award winning photographer. In recent days, Reginald has included painting into his artistic repertoire.

While talking to Reginald about painting and photography, his positive outlook and joy in life comes shining through. He’s shared with us more than once how he has “never worked a day in his life”. He seems to always be enjoying the things he’s been blessed to do. Check out his photography on his website ReginaldWickham.com and, if you ever get to meet him be sure to say hello and chat for a while. No doubt, if you do, you’ll learn something about art, photography, and enjoying life.
