Music for Japan

2011-04-07T02:01:00.001-07:00

Many artists have been doing what they can to help the people that were affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

Here are some of the Japanese rock/vk artists that I have found that have made songs available online to encourage the people that were affected.

weekend fun!

2011-04-07T00:23:00.000-07:00

Hello

On April 1st. I was supposed to go with a friend to "Magical Girls: Art Inspired by Shōjo Manga" at Meltdown Comics. BUT we missed the metro

So we changed plans and tried to have fun locally (which is super hard where we live!!!)
But we ended up having a good time

First we decided to get something to eat! We went to Subway
I like Subway because I can eat their food w/o messing up my stomach I really can't take fast food very well orz

Then we decided to get some delicious cupcakes at Double "D" Cupcakes
I have never been to that place before, so I was really impressed by how delicious they all looked!!

Adam's Apple

After that we decided to get back to my house and pick up my car and go for a drive
Next we went to the movies!
We went to see Rango
I really liked that movie!! was very entertaining! and...it was so like home good job at showing how desserty the place is orz
And...I think the movie is not really for kids...even if it's by Nickelodeon!!!o_o

Movie was over and we decided to go to the mall!! which is in the next city...yeah there is not much to do in this little town>.>
We were checking make up in Sephora and Mac places because...we need to look like we are photoshoped irl!!
I found the right shade of blush at Sephora!
hope I get it soon or I will get Candy Doll blush.

We went to the Sanrio store and got some goodies

cute mask! so my allergies don't kill meXDD

cute stickers for my future card making!

purple fuzzy ball clip!

With our combined purchase we were able to get some eggies

one for each~

Then we decided to check out a new store that had opened and my friend hear they had plushies. It was a must see!

This are some things that we found there

SAINT SEIYA FIGURES!!!! OMFG!!!!!

After that we had ice cream and then head back home as the mall was closing down.

A few days ago I got my Versailles- Philia single the one with the live DVD!!!

Versailles Philia: single+bonus card+poster

this is in the back of the card! beautiful!!!!

So...WE HAD A MINI LIVE!!XDDD
I was able to go to the first live Versailles had in America, and after that...I never saw them live again orz My friend hadn't seen them live before.
It was all we could do...yes, sad, very sad orz
BUT WE HAD FUN

fangirled about Kamijo's outfit, laughed because his voice when he screams is so...funny and just fangirled about everyone's outfits, moves, it was just amazinghime
I really want to see Versailles live again! I missed them when they went to my home country in their latest tour, and I still regret that. So, if they come to Cali, I need to see them!!

☆jsk: Banana Fish

☆cutsew: off-brand

with my friend~~ my bad matches my dressXD

shoe shoot!!

I'm wearing my Swimmer tights!! They are pink with black bows~I remember someone saying that is only for small girls, wellNO This tights are size M and they are the most comfortable tights I own!!! I love them!! I want more

(Trying out some emoticon from phone's message app, aren't they cute??)

Japan's earthquake and tsunami

2011-03-12T20:29:00.000-08:00

Hello!
From all the things I was planning on posting and do this week I decided to put it in halt for a bit more and write about the incident in Japan.

As many would know, there was a massive earthquake of 8.9 in Japan that caused a horrible tsunami. Most of the damage was done by the tsunami affecting the west coast close to Sendai.

After the tsunami hit, all I could do was try to contacts friends in Japan. It was very worrisome and I really was trying to not freak out. My mother was worried as well because of friends but the was able to contact her friend and everything was ok on her side, except a family member of hers that had his house falling and had to move with a friend. I was able to sleep that night (more like morning) because I got responses from some friends and I felt relieved and able to go sleep. The past days I have been receiving more replies and I was able to be more at ease. I was running out of things to distract myself with orz Until now, only two friends are left that I'm waiting to receive news from. This still worries me...
I wanted to send letters to friends on friday but because of this I couldn't...I wish to know of the status of mail services over there. Since my friends are not replying I want to send them letters, I really want to know how they are doing. They don't live close to Sendai, but might have acquaintances there.
Hope the community back home have contacted their loved ones and are staying clam.
I have also contacted childhood friends with family in Japan and was told they are safe. The problem was communication...it was hard to establish contact in certain areas. I also saw that some people were having problems with accessing their mail accounts.

Right now all I can do is pray and wish for people to stay safe. The aftershocks are still ongoing. An earthquake every 10mis approx in Tokyo...Is worrisome...
Also the nuclear plants...hope they stay stable and hope for no meltdown>.<

Hair cut~

2011-03-06T00:07:00.000-08:00

Yesterday I got my hair trimmed by my friend Momo. She is like my stylist, she is the only one I let cut and bleach/color my hair! I usually cut my hair myself because it grows really fast, but I was unable to for a long time and it got really long orz All the volume was going to the sides and not on top like it should>.<
I'm afraid of cutting too much hair when is in the back because I can't see it so I went to visit her.

Momo working on my hair! Nice posters huh?

With Momo and Sui~

hair monster!! This is actually half of the hair that was on the floor. I have a lot of hair orz

before ---->

after

My hair is essentially the same but with shorter layers. I got it thinned too so there is not as much volume as before. It feels lighter and like I have more roomXDD It will be helpful now that the weather is getting warmer but is going to be hard to do more styles as I don't have as much hair...oh well, it will grow in time for future events I'm sure>3

2011-03-04T02:21:00.000-08:00

Not that long ago, the Baby Mad Tea Party videos and info were posted on egl

There was Q&A with Misako and Midori. It was questions about work, and related.

The fashion show was really nice. I really like the dresses that are coming out. A/P...some things are a bit...not like their usual releases, like their cafe set.
But there were some pieces from both BTSSB and A/P that I really loved and would like to own!!

Some of the items/coordi that I liked(some of the names from Baby's line might not correspond the dress):

ロザリー姫ジャンパースカート(Princess Rosalie JSK) - Love this dress!! is so Snow White-ish~

2011-03-04T00:43:00.000-08:00

Our local group had a Valentine's Day meet up on the 12 of February.

The lady was such a lovely lady and we got compliments from her again. She said she used to dress in Victorian style but got hard to work with those clothes...hope she dolls up when we go again.

Tokyo Kawaii TV-Australia's next top model episode

2011-02-20T02:22:00.000-08:00

Like the tittle says, the Kawaii TV part corresponding to Australi's Next Top Model episode collab was posted here on egl.

I found it very interesting to see the point of view from the Japanese side!!
I mean...as you can find in the link above...the Australian models found the fashions odd.

When the girls appeared and met the Japanese guides...they were so tall!!!!! It made me feel like how I feel everyday here in AmericaXDDD I'm taller than the average girl here orz I have been surrounded by Japanese or Nikkei most of my childhood and is still the same here...I don't get my genes at all >.<

Sorry for the little rant...

The first model Jessica with Japanese school uniform guid: Hiromi!

I thought the clothes would be too short on her because of her height but I was glad that the clothes fitted nicely. Because as the guide Hiromi said, the look depends a lot on how the clothes fit, so if they fit a certain way it will not look like the Japanese school girl look.
But she pulled it of so nicely! She looked really really cute with those glasses on and ponytail!

Next model, Kelsey, was guided by beloved lolita model Misako~!!!

Many lolitas were upset by Kelsey's Bo Peep comment. Well...we can't expect much can we?
Misako was afraid of Kelsey's height. I understand this very well as I'm around 170cm while she is 173cm. So having a dress fitting nice and been long enough is a problem sometimes. Specially when Misako said that showing skin is not good in lolita. Many girls do it thou.
Misako was afraid that with knee high it won't reach the skirt part and skin will show and it would be...zettai ryouiki!!! and that is a NO NO for lolita that is supposed to be modest and not...sexualized at all.
But it all ended up good!!
Specially after the styling that gave Kelsey's mature face a really cute look~! And from model walk to lolita walk!!

Amanda, or Natural Beauty, like the commenter said; was next with her guide Yunkoro. The fashion style: gyaru!

I liked they showed some gyaru styles! I personally like rock style~!
I think Amanda felt more comfortable since gyaru clothing looks common in western eyes.
So Amanda ended up looking a bit..plain? She looked really beautiful but it was just not as eye catching for some reason. I really thought they could have styled the wig more. It was a really gorgeous wig btw! More eye make up too, the falsies looked really pretty on her and since it was said she doesn't wear much make up it was a good change. Loved the nails too! And she was really spunky on the run-way.

Last one was Sophie, with her fairy-kei guide Yuu!

I love her hair styling and handmade/modified clothing~!
It was funny when she said "nice body"XD I haven't heard that in a long time! I was happy!XDDD
It raised a good observation. Bodytypes. Japanese bodytype is very different of those of Western girls. As Yuu said, nice body=curvy body, is a big issue when wearing certain style. But they were able to pull it together and find a way for Sophie don't look voluminous on the hips and look adorable!
I really liked the wire trick!!! Now I know how to pull this off!!8DD

(source AP Blog)

The judges were students from a fashion academy and they had really nice fashion!! Actually...I think I saw someone that looked like Naoto!!!!(h.Naoto designer) I was like "o_o!!!"
It was very sad that lolita didn't win. And it was heartbreaking when Misako was crying! She really wanted to represent lolita fashionToT

Second part we see Ikki and...BENI!!!! Sadly I missed her at AX10...no one wanted to go with me to see her ;o;
and...
HOSTS!!! HOSTS!!!! I really like host style!

It was interesting seen a French born host. I really liked his accent when he was speaking Japanese. It was so cute~!!!! I really like accents! And when they showed other foreigners...accents~!!!
I liked the the host styles they showed. "ojiisamakei?" "oujisamakei...please be careful"XDD
My favorite where oujisamakei and casualkei styles! Cute~!
I was very shocked when I saw their spending prices...it takes a lot of money to look the part of a good host orz
I was very happy to see the salon part!! What I like the most about host kei, besides the cute guys, is the hair!!! I looooove the hair. And we get to see what styles are the most popular!!! After all, like any fashion, you have to be updated!!
3- all back
2- all front
1- slant-front

The last part was Otaku-pop style.

I personally have never heard of it, but it was fun to see that otaku can be stylish as well!!
I think that if someone attempted wearing something like that here...would be...scene-like? At least with only the nekomimi people will say odd things about you and your otaku ways orz

This was an interesting episode!
You get to see a lot of Misako and her wardrobe!

I really recommend watching this episode and the Australian side as well!

Q-POP opening!

2011-02-18T17:20:00.000-08:00

The opening for a new store in Little Tokyo called Q-POP was January 29th. It was also the opening for their gallery featuring amazing art.

I really wanted to go because Q is the only store in Los Angeles that carries brand!!!!
YES BRAND!!! Not lolita brand but PUNK BRAND!!
Omg I was soooo excited!!!! Been able to buy my favorite brands in-store...HOW AWESOME IS THAT??? Sexpot revenge, Algonquins, swimmer!!! I became a fan of super lovers tooXDD

I don't have much of what happened before the opening at 7pm. But it was just basically meeting with friends and walking to places and buying thingsXDD
LIKE THIS!!

Hello Kitty fuzzy bow Chocomint style!! This kind of things are becoming really popular.

D & E signed mini poster from Cure Shop~!

I also got something from Kinokuniya

guess what it is.....

Hetalia vol.2 I already have the japanese volume but...MY ART IS FEATURE INSIDE!!!! I really thought we were going to get a bigger section...at least bigger than thumbnails...orz Oh well, at least I'm in there. This is the third time an illustration of mine have been printed and published in anthology/book. And this is the only time I have a copy of oneXDD sad sad. Someday I will a illustration printed in color!!!

My goal is been featured in a PIXIV anthology...I will work hard!!!

I really wanted to buy Kera mag and GFantasy but had to buy this =3= and save a bit for Q store.

Now onto Q-POP!!

So many people!!!

The store was really small actually. It was really really packed. It was hard to get in/out/see things orz

I'm happy the store was opened but...they need more stock. The store is mall but they only had corners/racks with clothes and a little space for Swimmer goods.
I will still go again and check the place when there is not so many people. And will take more money with me and get some cute clothes.

This is what I got from the store!

Really wish I had received a brand bag but since the items were small and from 2 different brands...

Swimmer tights and SexPot Revenge tights.

I'm really happy about my purchase. It seems that everyone wanted Swimmer tights and I snatched a pairXDD In the store, someone that was close to me said that the tights run small and were only made for tiny girls...it discouraged me as I'm very tall but I had no problem with M. Only wish the print was more than just those 3 bows since I like wearing boots orz
Also got my SPR tights!!!!!! aaaaaah wanted some since last year release of tights!! But never got the chance. I mean...with shipping and all it would be $40+ and I don't see me spending so much on themXDD But got this ones anyways because I couldn't resist. It was like...$30? They are not that tick. When I tried them on I felt coldXD

There were many cool fashionable people at the opening but I couldn't take pics of them. But you can find some pictures in Q POP blog

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

In other news...I got some really nice goodies from a friend in Japan!

I want to share since is not usual for him to be so nice to meXDDD He has an interesting personality!!

He send me the Kera issue with Takeru on the cover~!!! So happy!!!<3<3

Also tea and pocky~

So...you read magazine while drinking tea and eating pocky!!!XDDD

L.A. lolita meet up!!

2011-02-18T16:37:00.000-08:00

(Late but...I just have to!)

I was very excited for this meet. It was going to be one of the biggest meets for Los Angeles area. More than 50 rsvp'ed!!!!
It was a lot of fun! Games, swap meet, friends, and lolitas with awesome coordinates~
I didn't take many photos...but I still had a good time!
Sadly, the clip from one of the straps of my SS Tea Party broke!!D8 I tried to fix it with the shoe clip bow. Then one of the shoe clips from the shoe in good condition got lost orz

I also got some things from the swap meet. Black socks with lace top and WHITE BOOTS!!!! Been wanting some for sooo long!!!! Sadly, they have a bit of a heel and it makes my feet slide and hit the toe part of the boots orz

When we got there, we were received by Oli and a bag of goodies~!!!

Oli's work is so cute!! (the ponpon is a ring!)

Like the keychain said, I WAS A WINNER! This is what I won, cute~!

They are as awesome as always!!! lovely coordinates!

At the swap meet I was able to FINALLY sell my usa-chan set!!!!

I think this dress is very very very cute!! But sadly, is not something I can wear often and I actually bought it on impulse so...I thought it was best to let it go. The girl was very happy when she bought it! She said that she loved it and it was super cute! There were lots of hugsXDD I'm very happy that this dress went to someone that would wear it more than me and that appreciate it more\(^o^)/

I only wore the dress once since I got it. It was for HalloweenXD I was the bunny to my friend's Alice. It was a good theme.

Can't wait~!!So many events this year!
I really need to think what I'm going to be wearing for all of them orz

Got a few things

2011-01-21T00:03:00.000-08:00

Yesterday I received my package from my SS Mai!!
The shipping I chose was SAL+tracking. It was sent January 13th and I got it January 19th!!!!SO FAST!!!!!
I really recommend Mai, she will answer all your questions, give advice when you need it, and will just give you a good service.

I got 5 brand pieces, for a good price! But there are 2 items missing...I emailed Mai but I think she is on hiatus, or so I heard. Haven't seen new bids by her either so I guess that would be right. If I remember right, she packed everything before she got those 2 items(they were the last ones to be sent to her).

This is the little gift she sent. She is known for send little gifts. And this choco made me start my day with a smile~
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
The day before I was very happy because I got mail from one of my friends in Japan! I was getting worried because I didn't heard from her in a while so I was very relieved to receive her letter and know she was doing just fine<3
She also sent me some goodies!! Kuroshitsuji goodies~!! I was very happy and couldn't wait to wear the headbandXDD It wasn't what I expected. I totally missed the word "headband" and thought it would be a normal katsuya. And the material is...oddXD But I'm happy nonetheless because she took her time to get it for me. I will always treasure it!
Now I need to find a navy jsk to wear it with!
...And just found the ideal one by A/P kekeke

It was fun and they stayed over! We watched loooots of movies with pop corn! fun fun!!<3

2011-01-18T23:55:00.000-08:00

(It took me forever but...ALA 2011 report!!)

This year Anime Los Angeles took place in January 7th-9th.
sadly, I was only able to go one day, on Saturday. And I wasn't able to stay very long either=3=
Nonetheless I was very excited!!
ALA is like those conventions where you are able to see all your friends and hang out, like PMX, rather than running everywhere trying to make it to the events.
I have friends that live far from the Los Angeles area, and from Cali, so I was very happy to be able to see them again after a long while.
I was able to see nice cosplay too!!! And saw some lolis that were going to have photoshoot! My friend was in the group. Sadly, I couldn't make it to the meet that day or on Sunday orz
I need meet ups......

I wasn't able to take as many pics as I wanted to, not even pics of my friends in cosplay!!!! fail orz

snow~!

2011-01-03T23:56:00.000-08:00

Yesterday there was snow!!!
I live in a town where snow is very rare.
Since I moved here, it has snowed 3 times so my family gets very excited.
Back home, we lived on the coast by the beach so snow was never seen unless you traveled. My dad would travel a lot on business so he has seen snow before.
Sadly, I showed signs of a cold and I didn't want it to get worse so I couldn't go outside and play with the snow...but I got to touch it and throw it on my drive wayXD
And I got to drive in the snow! It was a bit scary...but I didn't drive too long so it was all good.

(Back yard with snow!!)

(The car and drive way are covered! the poor car...)

Today I got to sell my book and I have enough to get myself a birthday present~
My parents don't like lolita...or much of what I wear so is out of the question when it comes to presents orz
But they will get me a sewing machine, so I can't complainXD
then I will be able to make cosplay and accessories~
Talking about cosplay...with a friend we confirmed on DOLLS cosplay for AX!>3
can't wait to style my wig!!!

First day of 2011

2011-01-01T19:34:00.000-08:00

After having New Year's dinner and doing what we always do each New Year, is feels like any other dayXD
Not special...but it should be, right?
Hope this new year is better. So far is...ok I guess.
I know some girls over egl are not doing so good because of the Angelic Pretty Lucky Pack sale.
I wanted one but I'm broke at the moment so it was out of the question.
I thought it was pretty unfair for AP USA to offer only...3 of each, was it?
Only a few girls were able to get it and it literally sold out in 5 minutes!
CRAZY, no?
Hope there are more packs next time. I really want to get a salopette...in black!!*w*
Will hope for the best in the future, after all...is a new year!!

First of all...

*-*-*HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!*-*-*
(is already 2011 in some places)
Today is the end of this year and we will be welcoming 2011!!
How exciting~
I hope this new year will be better than 2010...how about you?

-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-

On Tuesday my friends and I had a meet with two other lolis we met from our area.
It was our first official local meet! So happy~!!!
Is hard to find lolis when you live in the middle of nowhere surrounded by dessert.
So you can guess how happy we were!o_o
We planned on having a tea party on a local tea house that we didn't know we had (this little town is surprising us with new things, is weird!), but the lady run out of food so we couldn't stay. It didn't matter because she suggested a good place to go and she was super nice to us, she complimented us too! She was so happy to see girls dressing like us, it was sweet<3
We went to the new cafe she suggested.
I was the only one that had dessert and drank something else that was not teaXD

(Doesn't it look delicious???*w* and that is not beer is waterXD)

After, we decided to take a walk on the boulevard that had recently been remodeled. It was like...been in L.A.!!! So many businesses and...it was just very differentXDD
We found an art exhibit with really interesting art! busts of Vegeta, pikachu (a really scary one!), master chief...very interesting!

Then we went to candy store. It was small but very cute and filled with delicious candy~!!(I have a very sweet tooth)

(Candy everywhere~!!!!yumm yumm*w*)

(The lolli is as big as the loli's face!)

After we just decided to check out whatever store we found interesting. I really liked checking the hat store. We were looking at the hats while thinking which one will suit a different loli dress, it was funXDD

Going to the library was fun as well. We read manga, books, and just talked while one of us was eating the cupcake she bought and couldn't wait to eat it.
Sadly, it gets dark really early now so we had to finish our little meet. It got very cold too so walking was not an option anymore.

(Shooting star lights decorated the middle of the boulevard)

(This is what I wore to the meet. Try to keep it pretty casual.)

(Shoe shoot! I was the only one wearing boots)

I can't wait for more meets with my wonderful friends~!!

Hello~

Welcome to my blog!
I decided to start a blog (this is my first one!) about my interests.
You will find things related to anime/manga, fashion, cosplay, and art.
I like many types of japanese fashion such as lolita(sweet, gothic, classic, hime), punk, and gyaru.
My style is...a mix of most of themXD
I'm also a beginner in cosplaying and hope to improve!^^

I will be posting reviews on purchases, daily coordinates, event reviews, cosplay progress, and other things.

Happy to make your acquiantance and hope to see you around~
