Hi folks, Donna here. It’s no secret that I love bright colors, so when Genevieve came out with the Happy! Page Kit, I was thrilled. Bright and fun! Add in the coordinating Pop Dots, and you have a party on a page. But my favorite part of this kit is the alphabet. It’s so versatile! Genevieve has included 3 versions of the alpha: the multi-colored stickers on crinkly paper that you see in the preview; a set of plain black .png files that you can color and resize and as an .abr file that you can load right into Photoshop.

In this layout I used the alpha stickers:

Genevieve used the alpha stickers in this layout too:

Jamie used the alpha .abr brushes in this layout:

In this layout, I resized and colored the .png files, then added a stroke background to make them look like stickers:

I’m sure I will be using this alpha for a lot of different layouts. And the kit is so gorgeous too!

Here are some more layouts from the Sweet Genevieve CT using the Happy! kit:

Sally used Happy! in this wonderful scraplift:

Clara used Happy! in this layout to highlight her beautiful daughter and her brand spanking new camera:

Mary Ellen used Happy! to scrap a sweet moment with her son. Isn’t he handsome?

If you didn’t already get Happy! in the NSD Sweet Genevieve grab bag, head on over to Oscraps and pick it up. You won’t be disappointed!

Teacher Appreciation Idea

Hi! I hope everyone is enjoying their National Scrapbook Day weekend. I know I am! I haven’t scrapped a single page, yet, but I have been busy crafting. I didn’t get my April project up, but just finished a gift for my kids’ teachers that I thought I’d share with you. It’s very easy and uses one of Genevieve’s newest kits--go check out that grab bag.

We were told to bring in something sweet and salty this week and the first thing that came to my mind was chocolate and popcorn. (What teacher doesn’t want chocolate?!?) I got this idea from Spitcoast Stampers, they have some great tutorials and ideas over there, but I had to modify this one to complete digitally.

Creating this cute and inexpensive gift was not difficult at all. Digitally, I created a new file 7.5 x 10.5 inches and created my main design. I print on HP Everyday Matte Photopaper. This works very well and isn’t as stiff as regular photo paper. Using my Xyron, I applied adhesive to my digital paper, then mounted that on to some light-weight pink cardstock to add some stability. I cut my cardstock a little wider than my digital paper, so that I could add a cute decorative border. This idea came from Paper Jewels, a fellow TAC demo. This was one of those “duh” moments in that, why didn’t I think of that? I have so many punches and decorative scissors it’s not even funny! Once your design is complete, you need to score the papers at 1/2 inch and again at 5.5. Seal using your favorite double stick tape. I prefer wonder tape since it’s one of the strongest out there! I finally added some decorative ribbon and paper flowers.

Great way to make use of all those scrapbooking supplies, you don’t really need now with digital.

Ohhh we are sooo excited to be scrapping with our April CT Guest, Sandra Covert (sandracvrt)!!! So I grabbed her over at Oscraps and asked her a couple of fun questions!!

*Introduce yourself to everyone: Hi, I’m Sandra. SAHM to Piper (5) and Matthew (almost 3) and my oldest, Will, is in the first grade. I’ve been married for almost 8 years to Gabe, who I met in college over the internet!

*What makes you smile right now? My kids… Matthew makes me laugh a lot - he’s such a character!

*So how long have you been scrapbooking? and did you ever try paper scrapping before you went digital? I’ve been scrappin’ since 2006… I bought paper when I was pregnant with Will but just didn’t get into it!

*What is your favorite LO you’ve done recently (link please) and why is it your favorite? Oh my this is a tough question… I really love all the layouts of Daddy that I’ve done… his death has been sooooo hard on me, that the layouts of him make me feel closer to him… but since I have to pick one:

*So link us to your gallery so we can see more? Sandra’s Gallery

*Which is your favorite Sweet Genevieve Designs kit right now? I love all of them… I just did a layout with Urban Shamrock which was really fun… I actually haven’t bought a lot of kits lately… but I love The Be Collection kits which I think are just wonderful… Be Earthy is beautiful and I love Be Flirty too...

*What is your favorite thing about scrapbooking? My fave thing about digi is I can start and stop when I want/need to with no mess and no clean-up!

Ohhhh be sure to leave lots of love for Sandra here!!! I will be drawing a random winner from all of the comments posted on this post for a 5$ coupon to Sweet Gen’s store!! Drawing will be made on Friday of this week!! yay!!! and thanks to Sandra for joining us for some fun this month!

I would first like to say a big CONGRATULATIONS to Tiffanysuzanne, winner of Cora’s blog challenge and winner of four quick pages. Way to go!

So here it is March already, and the middle of the month at that. Where is the time going??? February slipped by so fast and I didn’t even realize it. LOL That said, back in January, I took up the challenge to take a photo EVERY day. I may not be online as much, or posting them as I’d like, but I have still managed to keep up with the challenge. I think I’ve only missed three days, so not too bad.

Genevieve has been releasing some amazing templates and products for the challenge as well, but these could be used for so much more! My favorite from the first preview has been her calendar templatesSweet Starts 365: Month by Month. How versatile are these?

I did my layout with my February photos and was amazed at how much we did during that busy month. This was really the first time I took all month to even download and view the photos of the month.

Now, with a little tweaking, I was able to turn this template into a nice mosaic. But, you could also use it for any calendar pages you’re working on for next year, a month in review page. The possiblilities are limitless.

Okay so I have the pleasure of doing a CT Spotlight on our March guest CT member Dawn. I was so excited to be able to pick her brain, she’s such an amazing scrapper! Anyway, here’s how the interview went…

How about an introduction for everybody:

oooh, an introduction, Well, I’m Dawn, from Western Ky. I hang out at O’Scraps . I CT for Merkeley Designs, Faith True, Plain Digital Wrapper, and Designs by Krista right now. My main love is the big O. I love photography, digi-scrapping LOL, books, movies, rock music, cats, and most furry critters. My DH and I have been married 25 yrs, 2 kids, Amanda 24 and Johnie 22. I’m a Certified Medical Assistant. That’s ‘bout it!

So how long have you been scrapbooking? and did you ever try paper scrapping before you went digital?

I started out paper scrapping when my kids were little, then I began adding computer generated titles and journaling.

I found some digi sites when I was searching for fonts and clipart one day and that’s all she wrote. I’ve been 100% digi for at least 5 yrs now.

What is your favorite LO you’ve done recently (link please) and why is it your favorite?

My current favorite layout Click HERE!!

I like it because it’s the style I most like right now, it’s clean and uncluttered, artsy, and it’s my favorite subject , my precious furbaby, Sassy, and it came together in just minutes. Everything just fit perfectly. That’s the beauty of a kit or a collab of elements and papers that are designed to work together, there’s no big struggle to match things up.

Wow minutes? I’m totally jealous! So can you hook us up with a link to your gallery so we can see more?

more of Dawn’s layouts: DST Gallery

Okay, dish! Which is your favorite Sweet Genevieve Designs kit right now?

My fave Sweet Genevieve kit right now: Daydreams Page Kit, it’s bright and cheerful, I’m so ready for warm weather and this kit makes me feel warmer already!

Thanks Dawn! Your gallery is an inspiration! I can’t wait to see what you do with Genevieve’s stuff!
