Shelley Berman.

When I was growing up I used to paw through my pop’s record collection. He was mostly a classical and opera guy, but he loved comedy. ’Inside Shelley Berman’ quickly became one of my favorite records. I listened to him over and over again. In the digital age, I’ve just rediscovered him and 40 years later he’s as funny as every, if not more so….so if you don’t know Shelley Berman, stop what you’re doing right now and give a listen to the two awesome telephone bits here: Department Store and Nephew.

Mont St. Victoire: Life is a Balancing Act.

One of my favorite shots looking south across Provence in the south of France. Taken whilst on a hike with old friends and family up Mont St. Victoire. We stopped and picnicked in a spot where Cézanne spent a good deal of time drawing and painting. Life is truly a balancing act.

This segment is Dinah interviewing Iggy before he does a tune. The other video is the performance. The juxtaposition between southern, genteel Dinah Shore and a crazy bastard from Detroit like Iggy just blows my mind. He gives a great performance. His bass player and drummer are Soupy Sales sons and he’s got David Bowie playing keyboards!
