The Swim Aids used to travel around the country for swim meets. No, really. It’s true. Back in 2005, and lasting to about 2008, we were absolutely everywhere! From Grand Prix meets to University of Michigan dual meets, we were representing! But we weren’t just attending. Oh, no! We were taking pictures and video to share with those who weren’t able to attend. (This was before live streaming meets was common place, as it is now).

We would take so many pictures that it would completely drain our camera batteries. We’d need to keep spares or recharge, and sometimes even that wasn’t enough! A site like Battery Heads can help any of you, who might find yourself in a similar situation as us!

For instance, our dear Kiwi had the cutest blue Sony Cybershot camera. It didn’t do the heavy lifting, but it got a lot of work when we were at the pool. Charging was sometimes an issue! Battery Heads could easily help her find a backup Sony Digital Camera Battery.

You can sort by popularity, price, name, voltage, or anything else you’d require to identify your battery needs. Also their prices are much better than going to a standard camera or electronics store. Finally, when you’re rechargable battery dies, for good, you can recycle it!

So give Battery Heads a shot if you’re heading to a swim meet soon and need a backup option; and you do. Trust us. Backup batteries are your friend!

It’s just so wonderful, yet so very, very unnatural! Forever, we’ve associated B-Han with Nike Swimwear. He was one of the faces for their line, which, if I recall correctly, often pissed us off. Usually when it came to marketing. But that’s neither here nor there. Nike bowed out of the competitive swimwear world a while ago. It is now a new day, and in this new era Brendan is Team Speedo!

Here’s a throwback to the Nike days. Feel free to pour out a little liquor.

And lastly, it’s time for another promo. Our dear friend, Michelle, the founder of the real and original BHO has brought it back to life! And just in time for the Olympics. So head on over (it’s hosted by Tumblr) and follow! [LINK]

I’ve talked about another way to wager on events like sports, without money. But if you get really good at that and want to move on to actual sports betting? What’s the next step then?

I’ll admit it. I get cocky when I call football game after football game correctly. I always think to myself “man, if only I knew how to bet!” Because, let’s be honest, it aint the easiest to understand for your average sports fan. Why should betting junkies be the only ones to be in on the fun? So what if I don’t know what “take the under” and “take the points” mean?

I know people who are so into betting that they study lines and are on the phone every day trying to set themselves up for the best bet. I’m not about that life. But sometimes I just want to place a simple bet saying Team A is going to beat Team B without dealing with the big betting sites. They scare me.

Why y’all gotta make everything so darn complicated?!

So, I stumbled upon SportsBettingSpot.com. They claim to make the betting process easy by doing all the work for you and directing you towards a legit sportsbook. They also have this cool thing called a bets calculator, which will estimate your winnings based on what you plan to wager. All broken down for you. I’m not above getting a little assistance, because, when it comes to betting, I need all the help I can get!

I will make my first sports bet this year. I don’t want to worry about Team USA’s outcome because of some bets. So, I’ll save it for football season, because if you know me, you know I’m beyond obsessed!

Now we all know that the Olympics are coming (Giggity) soon! I don’t know about y’all, but I am always absolutely glued to the TV whenever the Olympics air. And not just swimming, although that sport is my priority. I will watch just about anything and everything that is on, around the clock. I can’t get enough!

And since there are so many sports to choose from, usually overlapping in air times, you’ll need a lot of channels in order to watch all the action. I’m sure Direct TV can help! (Be sure to set up some DVR/TIVO as well!)

Dx3 Direct TV has a premium package that offers 285 channels with over 170 of them being broadcast in HD! And I’d be willing to bet the channels broadcasting the Olympic Games are in that HD pool!

Dx3 has a bunch of options for Direct TV. You can even ask for a sports package, which is exactly what an Olympics-obsessed fan like me would want.

Look familiar, right? Well, she should. It’s everyone’s favorite Katilin Sandeno! But now you’re probably wondering why she has “NEGU” painted all over her body. Well, listen up, cuz I’m finna tell y’all!

NEGU stands for “Never Ever Give Up”, which was the motto of Jessica Joy Rees, a beautiful young soul, who was diagnosed with inoperable brain tumors and passed away a few months ago. NEGU is now a charity that empowers other young and courageous kids. Find out more by visiting www.negu.org.

If Jessie’s Facebook Page receives 200k “likes” by April 8th — which would have been Jessie’s birthday — the NEGU foundation will receive a $25,000 gift. That’s huge! So, if you have a spare moment, and would like to help, click this link and “Like” the page as well! It’s for a good cause.

And shoutout to Kaitlin for contacting us about this cause. We’re happy to help!

And how fitting is it that Ryan is a former Gator? Get it? Gatorade? Yea, I got jokes. Big whoop. Wanna fight about it?

P.S. Check out his official Gatorade page. First few words are “They call him the Lochtenator”. We’re honored. The Swim Aids came up with that nickname for him waaaaaaay back in the day. Glad it’s stuck!

Now that’s what I’m talking about! Nothing better than when swimming’s elite come to your city! I used to burn up the highways and airways traveling to swim meets all over the country, but now I stay pretty close to home. Lucky for me, that this time it means I get to see a USA Swimming Grand Prix in an Olympic Year! SCORE!

The last time Ohio State hosted a Grand Prix was 2010, and it was practically a ghost town. It took place over Easter Weekend and was so sad. I was there, of course, covering the event for SwimStars.org, and was the only full-time media member in press row and 1/3 total. Seriously. No one was there!

This time around, the list of National Team members attending is much higher, headlined by Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin. No sign of Mr. Vanderkaay, but we’ll be graced with the presence of familiar names such as newly engaged couple Matt Grevers & Annie Chandler, Jason Lezak, Kim Vandenberg, Whitney Burnett (née Myers), Allison Schmitt, Chloe Sutton, Mike Alexandrov, and even international star Kosuke Kitajima. Adam Ritter, who trains at Tuscon Ford, is a Columbus, Ohio native, so it should be a nice homecoming for him as well.

And stopping our presses, the Austin Staab fanclub will be back in full effect as Mr. Staab’s name is also included! We haven’t seen him for a hot minute, and we’re not sure what happened to him, but YAY!

Check out the full psych sheet here and catch all the action next weekend, March 9-11, from McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
