Tips on how to teach your kids how to count money

Counting is one of the basic learnings we should put in our hearts and will always be used until the day we die. This skill is also one of the hardest lessons we will learn when we are kids. Do you agree? Especially, if we have introduced to our kids the value of money. Here are some tips on how to teach your kids how to count money:

1. Master the basic counting

Once your little one has mastered counting 1-100, it will be easy for her to identify numbers.

2. Teach your kid/s to skip counting

Skip counting will help your kids to know the denomination of the money easily. 5s, 10s and 20s will be the best starting numbers. Keep on practicing until they have memorized the numbers.

3. Introduce the coins and money bills

It will help them classify the different coins and money bills. You can help them by showing the real money or buy some play money to let them experience holding and the know the value of each piece.

4. Keep on practicing

Print some worksheet to let you know the kid’s knowledge, if they have grasped all the money lessons that you are teaching her. It is a better way to evaluate your kid/s understanding too and know where to focus.

5. Let them play the Money games

Upon searching the internet, I have also found some money games that will help your kids apply the learnings.

Here are the games that we have tried:

Cash back – this is a game the players will give change to the customers with the use of bills and coins. It has 3 difficulties of the game: easy, medium or hard).

Grocery Cashier – it is game where the players will act as a cashier and will add all the grocery items, subtracting the payment and giving back the change. It also gave a time limit so we need to act fast to able to earn points.

Treze Coins – this is the easiest game out of the three that we have tried. The game will tell you how much will be the amount to input in the machine. Then once correct, you will earn your gumballs. It will help your kids to familiarize with coins.

I have come up with this article because I have learned this via research and based on my real-life experiences. Since our life has changed to a new different perspective because of what we called “New Normal”, for sure all of us learned dealing with our savings because of the pandemic that help us realized that we need to save our money. Why? Because life gets tough and will change in least, we expected it. Many jobs were lost during those times. Many businesses closed and declared bankruptcy. In my experience, we need to save a lot for emergency purposes. During those lockdowns and hoarding of food, we need to be ready. Lastly, the number one we need to take care of is our health.

Back to the topic, budgeting. What comes to your mind when you heard that word? For me, it is saving money and sorting your salary until the last centavos. It is hard to be serious with budgeting. We need to put it to action until it will become a habit to you. Based on these websites, here are the meanings:

Budgeting is simply balancing your expenses with your income. If they don't balance and you spend more than you make, you will have a problem. Many people don't realize that they spend more than they earn and slowly sink deeper into debt every year.

Here are the tips on budgeting your income:

Track your expenses – write everything that you bought, paid for or anything that decreases the mount of your money. There are ways to track your expenses. You can use an app so it will be handy and always in your phone. Some people use google sheet or excel sheet to able to track the expenses extensively. Lastly, as an old soul like me, I prefer using a notebook and jot down all the expenses with my cute notebook for budgeting.

Set your financial goals – have a financial goal. For example, this month I will save and lessen my debt. One year from now, I will be debt free. 5 year from now, I will have my own home. If you have a good credit with the bank, you will get a loan online with ease or any bank

50 / 30 / 20 budgeting plan – 50% of your income for the needs of yourself or your family, 30% for your income for wants and make sure your 20% of your income to savings and debt repayment.

Avoid unnecessary purchases online or in store – always plan for your wants, if you see something shiny try to sleep first and check if the next day you still crave for the same item. If not, better for you. If you still want it, put it in your budget.

Be consistent on your budgeting plan. Let it be a habit.

Since 2020, the year where the pandemic starts, it has changed a lot of dynamics in our life. From work, personal interest, stock markets, schools, real estate and mostly everything changed. Who would think that pandemic will still arise even though our world has become more efficient, advanced and grown to an exponential extent since the last pandemic hits the world? No one expected this.

During those days when COVID-19 started and entered in our country. I thought it will only last for a few months but here we are on our 2nd year. However, we are coping with it. We have our own health protocols to follow to able to avoid and fight the virus. Plus, the vaccines that was given to almost everyone in the world help us to avoid the risk to have COVID-19 fatally. Thank you so much for all the efforts of the scientists and researchers to make the world safe and sound again.

Let us go back to real estate, for the 1st year of the pandemic everyone was conservative in letting go of their money. No vaccines yet were available. Real estate declined. When things starting to change too, everyone was at home working or some people was no choice but to stay at home. The house was becoming crowded and more fights were established. People also started to buy pets like dogs, cats, hamsters, fish or any possible animal that can be a pet. The place what we called home was becoming a small place to breath in, especially those people who live in a small house, apartment or condominium.

In that kind of situation, when the world opened the markets again, life was becoming normal in the new normal again. People are started to look for a bigger place. Some might be looking for a backyard or garden for their new found hobby during this pandemic or for their pets to run wild and free. Some might be looking for a house with a room that can be turned as an office place. Some might be looking for a bigger house with more rooms on it because some of their family members are back at home.

For me, in our experience if the time comes that I will able to buy our new home, I want an office space because we started to work from home since pandemic. I also want a garden to be closer with nature, so I have space to breath and to meditate. I also need a room for our daughter because she is growing so fast. Lastly, a lovely huge kitchen to cook our meals.

So, what should we do to have a new home? We invest in real estate because according to Bloomberg, real estate sector has good stand in the market. Let's start to figure your loan or considering refinancing. I have used it. We think we can manage it. This is for our future and our daughter’s future I will not have second doubts about it. Here in the Philippines, they have a stigma when somebody did not finish college. They somehow discriminated and look down upon on. They should remove this stigma, because everyone who is determined and hard working can be professional even though they just graduated from tech-voc in the Philippines. It is unpopular choice of high school graduates. For me, if you want to focus on your skills. It is a good choice and less expensive.

It does not mean, ikaw ay bobo. Pinoy tech-voc graduates ay hindi bobo. It has a lot of benefits. Some people who have graduated college sometimes still go to TECH-VOC classes to get certified. Some other jobs in other countries requires certification from the accredited TECH-VOC trainings.

These livelihood trainings are best for barangays and provincial training through Barangay Kasanayan para sa kabuhayan at kapayapaan (BKKK) set by TESDA. I have watched a few reality tv dating show, I can say I can compare it to Too Hot Too Handle but in a conservative version. I also love how Korean’s host the reality tv dating show with the commentary, it is just like any Korean variety shows. It feels like they are also watching with us and voicing out their thoughts.

Moving forward, the contestants are all good looking and sexy. I am not so used to “MACHO” image with Korean men but they are really 0% fat. Oh la la! The abs, the biceps, the chiseled jaws, I forgot I have a husband. Hahahahah kiddin. I love you hun! Mostly, in the Kdramas they are mostly boy-next-door image. For the ladies, wow! They are all sexy and I am not also used to Korean ladies having revealing clothes like wearing 2-piece swim suit.

I love the anticipation they leave the audience wanting to have moreeee. The twist they give to the show was good. They keep it interesting. The only thing that they don’t have was the life after the reality show. They don’t have an update. No interviews or what. I was used to reunions and clearing things out just like in the western reality tv show. It made me stalk all the contestant in their social media especially in Instagram. I was so obsessed to who end up together as a couple in the real world. However, NADA! If I learn something from them, don’t worry I will keep you posted. *wink wink*

Happy new year to everyone! I am excited for this new year, new me. Lelz The cliché phrase of everyone when new year is coming. I might be late posting a new year greeting but it is okay. Let’s just say I am fashionable late.

In a snap of a finger, it is already 2022. It still feels like 2020. The pandemic is going strong. The mother-father covid is still in our air and keeps on swirling and mingling to another virus. They keep on mutating and spreading all over the world. WOW! And if you are a marvel fan, let us call the TVA and tell them to kill all the covid variants. They should not be roaming around. Preserve the timeline please. (Watch LOKI series for reference hihi)

Since the pandemic, I learned a lot of lessons and I want to share them with you:

First, life is short. Life should not be boring, let us live a fantastic life.
Love yourself and it will radiate to the people around you.
Make memories with your family. Value them, show your love.
Stay grounded and humble.
Never stop learning. Always have time for a hobby.
It is okay to feel sad, alone and angry sometimes. You are human, you are validated.
God is good. He always provides and protect. Don’t forget to pray.
Life is too precious to hold a grudge on someone. Always forgive.
Play with your kids, they grow so fast. Show them a wonderful childhood so you will always be in their hearts.
Never forget to say, ‘I love you’ to your family.

It might be another year, but it is up to you to make it a wonderful life. Take an effort to live. Stop being stagnant. Let’s keep on moving not tomorrow but today. NOW!

It was almost 2 years since we visited our grandparents. We all know because of this pandemic the risk is high for them. We kept ourselves here in the city and now that the risk is low. We have visited them last week. I can say my grandparents are “techie”, they enjoy using the present technology like smartphones.

They also love to play games. You know what number 1 game they like? It is solitaire and sudoku. Here in our country, senior citizens are less likely to go out because of the pandemic. They are one of the people who are affected during these times because of the social gathering are not allowed and mostly they will stay indoors. The routine they used to was gone in a flick.

Last episode of Marvel’s What IF..? was premiered yesterday. DAMN! That ending was sooooo good! Most of my friends have not watch it yet, I am sharing my thoughts in my blog. I learned this series from my husband. He is the one told me about this. During that time, it is still one episode. Every Wednesday, since then we are waiting for the new episode to watch.

Multi-Universe is so complicated. I love it! Hahahaha the possibility is endless. I also think this series has a connection in the new series coming up in the Marvel World. Loki Series is also about the Multiverse (will blog about it too next time). Every series that the Marvel is showing right now is preparing us for the Multiverse War, I think. Not super expert here, okay? Comment down below if you have spoilers for the future series and movies. Haha

"What If... Captain Carter Were the First Avenger?" - This episode was different, they change the Captain America to Captain British. Go Girl power!
"What If... T'Challa Became a Star-Lord?" - This episode was a little tear jerker in the end. They dedicated the episode to Chadwick Boseman. WAKANDA FOREVER! This is one of my fave episode.
"What If... the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?" - The avengers were not formed here. All got unfortunate events.
"What If... Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?" - Too sad for Doctor Strange, he gave everything but lost everything. huhu
"What If... Zombies?!" - When all of the people even the avengers were zombies, too scary. Especially if scarlet witch was one of them.
"What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark?" - Not a fan of this episode, Killmonger became the Black Panther in a really not so good way.
"What If... Thor Were an Only Child?" - Thor is the life of the party. The end.
"What If... Ultron Won?" - Did not expect this one to be more on fighting scenes. I love it! Ultron was hungry to destroy all the living thing and he is too smart and powerful that he heard the watcher talking in the background.
"What If... the Watcher Broke His Oath?" - The ending that get me giddy. After, watching this episode. GOSH! I want to spoil everyone. The watcher created a team from different universe. He formed the Guardian of the Multiverse. The last part was even better. Because Natasha Antonov was the only person alive in her universe because of Ultron. The Watcher put her on the universe where the Natasha Antonov was missing. DO THE MATH!

The Verdict:

I love the series. It always get me thinking of the things that will happen. Every episode was unique and not expected at all. I am not a comic reader so all of this for me was exciting and keeps be going and waiting for more. Who would thought to kill all the avengers? Not everyone was destined to be them. On the universe or timeline we know, they are the greatest. Everything is new and it is sometimes hard to digest as a fan of the avengers. We all always want them to be the hero nor be killed. But this one differs in every episode. I like the idea. This is interesting. As a viewer, we always want something more and the marvel gave it. AMAZING! Recommending it!!!

This is a Korean tv series about a real-life game. The winner of the game takes it all. The participants who could join will have an invitation like this below:

Mostly of the participants are the people who has a lot of debt in the real world. People who are desperate to have a money and looking forward for a wonderful future for themselves or for their family. Every participant was from different walks of life. Some of them are gambler, thieves, immigrant, murder, gangster, priest, businessman and a lot more.

The twist in the game was if you lose, you die. Instant headshot for them. Everyone was fighting for the money and for their lives. The games played where from their childhood. It was easy but everything has a twist.

The Verdict:

I love the twisted I idea of Squid Game. I can see it as Hunger game-ish movie. Protagonists need to survive all challenges happening in the game island. Someone is watching over them and giving the instruction too but this one has a lot of participants. It is from 1 to 456 participants. Imagine the people died in this game. It is effin massacre to be honest. The first game was simple yet a hard game too. My little girl was scared with the huge doll. Hahaha Korean never forgets to have a wonderful twist every now and then. This is what I really enjoy with their series. Everything is unexpected. I love it!!! I also love the cameo of Gong Yoo. I thought he will be the game master. I was wrong. I keep on loving a series if I did not predict the next thing that will happen. Good job everyone involved in this series. BRAVO!

The only thing that I was disappointed with was the ending. We went back to call the number again and join the next game. DAMN! If I was him, I will go first to my daughter and spent few days with her and give her the money she deserves to have a wonderful life then go to the game again. Of course! it will not be exciting if the protagonist did the right thing in the first place. Hahaha it will not be a cliff hanging ending. I hope they will continue it to have a season 2.

I will give my pitch for the season 2 hahaha This is just my idea, if there will be a season 2, this is also based on the theory the internet showed to us. Gi-hun with his new red hair, went to call to join for the next game. But instead of joining as a contestant, he was given a spot as a VIP. He was shocked to be with them instead of being in the game. He starts to investigate. He learned that the old guy was his dad. This will be heavy flashbacks of why the Oh II-nam left them and created the game. Maybe the games that was played by the contestants was the favorite childhood games of Gi-hun. This is why Oh II-nam decided to join the game when he saw his son for the first time in a long time. Gi-hun decided to find a way how to end the Squid game or he might take over for his father’s sake? I will also add that Gong Yoo might be his brother? The newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021 is Cebu's Beatrice Luigi Gomez. Congratulations madam! The coronation was held in Panglao, Bohol on Thursday, September 30. 2021. She will compete in Israel on December to represent our beautiful country Philippines.

Time flies really fast and the Top 5 finalist are now chosen. The talk of the town beauty pageant is now over. They have announced the best of best for Miss Universe Philippines 2021. They all have the beauty and the brains to able to represent our country for the international pageant.

Just a side topic, if ever we will have elections. They should follow the format of pageants. Showcase your advocacy, share the laws or ordinance that you have passed, instead of question and answer replace it with debate. How I Met Your Mother - Season 1 to 9 (2005 - 2014)

During the first year of pandemic, I was looking for a tv series that I could watch even if I am doing other things like folding clothes, doing some household chores or anything that I don’t need to read the subtitles. I think the first thing to consider is, it should be in English. Haha Korean telenovelas should be watched with full attention because of the subtitles. Hold and behold!!! I suddenly remember I want to try and jump to the bandwagon of How I met your mother tv series. At first, I am a little skeptical because it has 9 seasons. I am doubting myself that I might not finish the whole thing. Guess what? I want to give myself a pat on the back. I finished the 9 seasons without skipping an episode.

Well, I have seen some of the episode before when Netflix is not yet a thing. I have watched it through ETC channel. Sometimes they also have a marathon weekend for catch up series. I was able to watch it few years ago. Last year, I started it and I was hooked again. Let me give some of the general plot of the series.

It all started from Ted Mosby, he tells the story to his children. The story on how he met the mother of his kids. The setting of the story was in New York City. It was a long plot to be honest. He shares all his dating stories and the unbelievable adventure of their friends in a very comedic way. They always met up on a pub or sometimes on Ted Mosby and Marshall Eriksen’s apartment above the pub.

The writers of this series are really genius, it has a lot of plot twist that could go wrong or go in a very different direction but will always find a way to make us laugh. I love the diversity of the characters. Ted Mosby is a hopeless romantic. He always believes in love and will do anything for love. Marshall Eriksen is a loyal partner to Lily Aldrin. The couple story mostly involves the harsh reality of a long relationship, it is not always sunshine and butterflies. It might be sometimes drought or thunder and lighting. They have their way to compromise and always end up with each other’s arms. While Robin Scherbatsky, she is a Canadian reporter who they became friends with during Ted Mosby’s relationship with her. However, she is a person who does not believe in love and marriage. She has a lot different perspective in life. Lastly, Barney Stinson our.. wait for it.. legendary character. He gives the spice in their existence. He is a womanizer freak. He loves to get it and leave. In our present generation, he likes to GHOST his girls. Hahaha

When I reached the last episode of this series, I felt sad that it was already over. I will have a hard time a finding a new tv series with this kind of wit. Will I recommend this series? Of course! It might have 9 seasons but it has only around 30 minutes per episode. It will be easy to binge watch.

I will rate this tv series as 5 out of 5 stars!!!
