Elsa {newborn}

Meet Elsa. Her mom is the owner of Gardenia Floral and a good friend of mine. Elsa's dad went to college with Jeremy and they've kept up with each other over the years. Elsa was born during the weird snow storm that we had the first of March.

Becky is such a sweet mom. The whole time I was there, she kissed and cooed and patted sweet little Elsa. Exactly what I would have been doing; Elsa was super cute and ate up all the attention! Because Elsa wasn't a week old, she didn't like all of my 'newborn' poses; she wanted to be a big girl and sit up. She also did a lot nursing, letting me get a some special shots.

I am so excited to post about these bags - I've been working on making them happen for months now! Caroline and I put our heads together and created this super cute design and ordered them from my friends at Image Marketing. The bags are here!!

I have a couple things I plan to do with them. One: every client that purchases a DVD or prints through us (not Pictage) will receive a bag for FREE! Two: I'm selling them in sets of 5 - $12 per set. And for the fun: If I see you out and about using one of our bags, I will give you $25 print credit for your next session!!!

Have you ever used this kind of bag for grocery shopping? They are wonderful! You can get 2-3 times the amount of groceries in one of these bags then what you'd get in a plastic bag from the store. I love that using them cuts down on the amount of plastic that goes into the landfills and that I don't have a million bags floating around the house waiting to be recycled. And it's less trips into the house with bags.

When choosing the type of bag I wanted to buy, I made sure that I picked one that had a plastic bottom to keep the bag open and standing. I've used both kinds of bags - with and without plastic bottoms - and the bags with a bottom are much more convenient to use.

In the rain this afternoon, I went grocery shopping with Henry. I had to use the new bags, you know (and I was out of food!). When we got home I took some photos in the rain - I just couldn't wait! Take a look!

Laila {newborn}

Leigha and Josh welcomed Laila into the world just a week ago. You'll remember them from their maternity session. They let me come over the other day and take photos for a few hours (which was so fun!) and I was able to capture some ADORABLE images.

Jamie {fun for me}

A few weeks ago, Jamie and Griffin got to go to a ball. As the days leading up to the ball came and went, Jamie and I talked about what she should wear and how she should do her hair. I got to loan her my new 'little black dress' AND I got to do her hair and make-up. I LOVE to do hair and make-up; I'd do it for a side job if I had the time!

Anyway, I made Jamie let me take a few snap shots before she left. I wish I could have been with both her and Griffin for a couple shot, but Griffin was in Athens...

Avery {nine months}

Yesterday Henry and I got to play with our friends, Lori and Avery! Avery is almost 9 months old so we had a little session to document it. I really like what we ended up with! Take a peek :-)

Avery just learned to crawl, so I got a lot of him right before he took off!!

Avery's eyelashes are incredible - I had a hard time picking images that didn't showcase them!

Does everyone know how much I love eyelashes?

snowfall in march {crazy}

The weather people kept telling us that we were going to get snow on Sunday but I didn't really believe them... Boy did we get snow! We still have snow on the ground three days later. And they are still predicting that it will be 70 degrees on Saturday -- which I hope for because I'm ATTENDING a wedding and I want to wear fun, spring clothes!

We ventured out to Jerry's farm to take some pictures; Henry wasn't too big on all of the clothes he had to wear, so this get-up didn't last very long...

Just long enough for Jeremy to take a picture of us and to the car we went so that we could strip down (just a little bit) and nurse for a minute.

This is the new get-up - the maya wrap - under my coat with a hat. He liked that a whole lot better!!

Everyone knows I must take a picture of my feet wherever I go...

Cooper {one year session}

I had the best time chasing Cooper around the other night! We met at the coffee shop and ended up at Hartwell Elementary School. I lucked out with the weather; it was overcast and warm!

Isn't he cute? I got about one minute of Cooper standing still to snap a few and then he was off!

This one makes me laugh -- Trent wanted Cooper to run to him so he could 'catch' him, but Cooper wasn't having any of that!

Landon {Birthday}

Landon is FIVE!!! So I just have to say that it is absolutely unbelievable that Landon is 5. Landon's mom, Jennifer, called me when she was pregnant to see if I did maternity photos. Before Landon was even born, we had 2 or 3 maternity session with and without Landon's dad, Shannon, and I was at their home a couple days after Landon was born to shoot Landon's newborn images. I would love to post some of those old images, but a lot of it was shot on film, and I don't have them scanned in... However, I've taken pics of Landon everywhere you can think of and for every holiday and birthday.

I find it incredible how fast things change and how the same things stay. Jennifer and I still can't decide where to take pictures, Landon still makes the same silly face when we ask him to smile, and we still buy proofs to put in the albums that we've been ordering for years. Yet, Landon is FIVE; he has conversations with me, and thinks I'm cool when I let him do things that might get him dirty! He's no longer the tiny, squishy baby that I started with; how does this happen so fast? I don't know. I'm sure I'll be wondering the same thing when Landon turns 10 (and Henry turns 5!)

Jackson & Family {Christening}

I had the pleasure of photographing Jackson's christening ceremony and reception last Sunday at the First United Methodist Church. I photographed Renee and John's wedding 4 years or so ago and it was so fun to see them and to document this special time for them.

While I was at their new home for the reception, we snuck in a few family portraits!

Kelda, Bryan and Kalleigh {family}

Can you believe that Kalleigh is 2 years old? I've been taking photos of here since she was born, which seems like yesterday, not 2 years ago! We lucked out on a beautiful day; not quite as nice as the last week has been, but still pretty.

Kalleigh's grandmother, Lisa, came prepared with fresh tulips (my favorite!)

Kalleigh wasn't so sure about this request! She wanted down and she certainly didn't want to be in the middle of two kisses! I couldn't help but post the image :-)

amy {just because}

I met Amy at a photography class I taught at the YMCA last year. We've kept in touch with little get togethers and additional photography classes. I wish Amy would be a bit braver and take photo jobs here and there. She has a really good eye, but doesn't believe me when I tell her!

She asked me to photograph her 'just because'. I was so excited to be able to do that! We met in Hartwell at my father-in-law's 'farm', for some cool shots and then went to Depot street for a few more.

I think this one is my favorite... I still had possession of the 50mm 1.2L lens that this one was taken with!

This one is cool, too, though....

laura & erik {wedding}

Remember these two cuties? I posted their engagement session a couple of months ago; you can see it here. I promised in my engagement post that I would tell you about their super cool wedding, so here goes.

When Laura called to talk photography, she told me that she was planning a dinner party for her closet friends and family, with a wedding ceremony thrown in the middle. And that is what she and Erik did!! The wedding/dinner party took place at Anthony's Fine Dining, in Atlanta (Buckhead, for those of you familiar with the city), and the whole evening was wonderful - sweet, intimate and special.

I had such fun with all of the pretty details!

Laura and Erik agreed to meet each other prior to the ceremony, so that we could take advantage of the pretty location for photos.

I was playing with a new lens - I love this pic of Erik!

I just loved all of the detail - I was shooting with another new lens - I just love it!! (The 16-35mm, 2.8L lens, for those of you that are wondering!)

Laura and Erik welcomed their guests with champagne. I thought this was a cute moment!

I made this moment happen! I thought this table and window was too cute to pass up! As you look at this, imagine all of their guests standing behind me with their own cameras clicking away!

As you look at this and laugh your head off, you're wondering how this happened, right? Well, when we woke up that morning, Henry's diaper had leaked and I'd stripped him so I could put clean clothes on. He was just so darn cute, all naked and fat, that I ran for the camera. This is what I saw when I came back in the room. I couldn't resist a snap!

Check out this super cool, super cute couple I had the opportunity to photograph on Saturday. Cacia (said k-see-ah) and Rusty are getting married in the Florida Keys in June, so I got to shoot their engagement session! We had a blast basking in the warm sun -- who would have thought? The weather Saturday started out rainy and cold, but as you can see it ended on a warm, sunny note...

I have to send out many thanks to my good friend Katherine Williamson, for showing me this awesome location! It blows my mind that this location is in Hartwell!!

one month challenge

I've made a goal to not eat out at a restaurant for a whole month. I started this challenge on January 9th, after watching Oprah and Suze Orman. Suze Orman challenged America to not spend money for one day (I can do that!!), to not use a credit card for one week (can do that, too!!) and to not eat in a restaurant for one month. I don't really like eating out very much, but I do [eat out] for the convenience of it and because I have a hard time thinking of meals that I can make at home. So for the next month, I am going to try thinking and planning meals for a few days at a time and when I'm out and about, I'm going to bring lunch or snacks with me.

I'm sure I will save a lot of moola, and I'm sure to eat healthier! Maybe I'll post some images of meals that I prepare...

sweet potatos and asparagus

Henry and I had dinner with Logan and Erin a couple of weeks ago at Longhorn Steakhouse, where we ordered a couple different meals and shared them between the three of us (those of us that consume 'real' food!). While we were waiting for our meal to come, we exhausted Henry's restaurant patience, so by the time our food was delivered, we was fussy, screechy and bored (bored being the problem!). During a stop at our table (I was walking Henry around), I grabbed a stalk of asparagus (it was the only thing I could pick up and walk with :-)) and Henry immediately grabbed for it. I thought, 'what the heck, what can he do with it, he probably won't like it', and handed him the harder end piece. To our amusement, he loved it! When I tried to take it away to give him a fresh piece (I wanted to continue to eat, and he'd totally squished/mashed the piece he had), he screamed! While we finished eating, he went through 6 pieces of asparagus, screaming every time I replaced the piece he was working on with a new one.

Tonight, I made asparagus for myself (Jeremy does not like it) and thought I would see what Henry thought of it now, a few weeks later. As you can see from the pictures, he loved it just as much tonight as he did at Longhorns!

Unfortunately, the asparagus piece was pretty short and you can't see it, but he had it clasped tight!

We moved on to sweet potatoes for a minute...

Henry is into feeding himself. He looks for the food on the spoon and then puts it in his mouth. Pretty amazing!

He spotted me drinking and had to have some!

Wait! I wasn't done yet! More water!
