There were lockable gates at the entrances and security guards wandering around. It must be a boon for the restaurants there - we had a lovely dinner one night at Tropicana - but it is also a little sad to see charming Marigot fallen on hard times.<div alt="P1400897"></a> When I saw this iguana at the edge of our pool I almost fell over. Though we have had our house since 1999, this is the first iguana I have ever seen there. I knew there must be one around because I have found a few large piles of reptile poo, but this is the first time I have seen one in our yard. We came to St. Maarten/St. Martin in 1997 and I never saw iguanas anywhere for the first 5 years at least.
