A meeting of the Sydling Parish Council was held in the village hall on Monday March 12th at 7pm.

Members present were;  Mr.  C Legg, chairman, Mrs D. Wareham vice chairman ,Mrs. L. Percy.Mr. D Barton and Mrs. D. Tucker.  Apologies for absence received from Mrs. P. Davies and Mr.C. Fowler.

Declarations of Interest. There were no declarations of interest. The minutes of January  16th were signed by the chairman.

From the minutes;

The Zip wire in the Play Area had been replaced and a cheque for £181.20. had  been paid by the Parish Council. Mr Barton would be dealing with  this .Work had been done regarding the trees in the spinney. The clerk would contact Frampton Parish Council regarding the pot holes  along the valley road, which were  in Frampton Parish. The clerk mentioned that she had received a telephone call regarding the ruts in Church lane, which was very muddy when people stepped  from their cars when going to church. As work was progressing on the Tithe Barn it was felt that this was best left until the work was finished .The clerk would ring regarding marker signs at the watersplash leading to Cerne Abbas.

Planning Matters;

Application no.1/D/12/000178.5 Waterside Lane.. Install 4no.conservation rooflights.  There were no objections.

Finances;

Five  cheques were signed at the meeting. They were…£52.00. Mrs C. Birch, cleaning the bus shelter .£300.00. Mrs. M.Penfold , clerk.. half yearly salary,  £75.00 H.M.R.C Post Office Counters (clerk..tax). The clerk,s salary was now  in two halves  2x£300 =14.9.11 and 2x £75.00= 13.10.11 total £750.00. The Chalkstream £80.00.donation.Proposed by Mr.C. Legg. Seconded by Mr. D Barton.All in favour.The  clerk reported a balance of £6896.48.The precept would be received in April.

Standing  Orders ;There were no queries.

Correspondance;

Correspondance had been received regarding consultation on the Draft Corporate Plan for West Dorset District Council.2012-2016. Withdrawn Application..1/D/11/001995.Extension .37 High St. Approval of planning Permission..Huish Lodge .1/D/11/001458.Remove garage,erect single storey extension.    .Approval of Planning Permission 1/D/12/000058  Sydling Estate..install solar photovoltaic panels on  grain store.  Approval of Planning Permission.1/D/11/001969.Upper Sydling House. UpSydling..erection  of a new building to house two biomassboilers  plus wood chip storage .Audit Briefing  .Superfast Broadband in Dorset. Dorset  Police Enquiry Office review.  A letter had  also been received from the County Council regarding Snow Clearing. The Parish Council considered that the snow plough supplied to Higher Sydling was well used. The Parish Council,s main concern was the gritting of the hill to Cerne Abbas  and Maiden Newton  .The clerk would reply accordingly .A letter had been received from Mr. D Buckland regarding the painting of the telephone box. This  would be considered at the next meeting .It was decided to participate in the West Dorset Spring Clean. This would be held in Sydling on 21.4.12. at 10.0.am. to meet at Cross Tree.It is hoped that as many as possible would be able to attend and help tidy the village.

Homewatch;

It was felt that the Homewatch System was working well in the village. The clerk would  liase with the Chairman of Bradford Peverell  parish Council who had raised some queries regarding this .

ConservationMatters;

All work to the trees had been done according to the quote,except the cherry trees on the green. These would be attended to after the flowering period was over. The large dead Ash tree would also be felled at this time..quoted separately.Any Other Business;

It was  noted that grass cuttings had been dumped at Chalky  Napp. The clerk had received a telephone call just before leaving for the meeting regarding the sawmill re crafts and carpentry.The parish Council would be interested to see the proposals.The chairman and clerk reported the outcome of the meeting in County Hall regarding Bridleway 5. The application for a B.O.A.T .was refused  ,but the recommendation for a restricted byway was approved.  A further update would be brought to the next parish Council meeting which would be held on May 14^th at 7pm.

Gardens are open between 2.00 p.m and 6.00 p.m on both days.  Tickets can be purchased at the Village Hall where there will also be a large collection of plants and shrubs on sale.

17th March   10.30 – 12 midday      COFFEE MORNING with bring and buy sale at the Village Hall.

20th April – evening Quiz Night with Bar and Raffle at the Village Hall.

5th May – Craft Morning - make bunting and scarecrows at the Village Hall.

26th May – 4th June decorate the front of your house with bunting and/or a scarecrow.

2nd June Saturday – Dance with pot luck supper (free admission) bar and raffle at the Village Hall.

3rd June Sunday – Church Service followed by celebrations on the village green: presentation of mugs to all U18′s, community big lunch picnic and children’s sports with prizes.

4th June Monday – Evening Fancy Dress Football for all and hog roast on the village green.  At dusk Beacon lighting and drinks on the hill (tractor and trailer rides available).

success. There wes a record number of guests and, with donations, we raised
the fantastic sum of £441.50 to be split between our two 2012 charities – Home
Start West Dorset and Practical Action.

The coffee morning held in the Village Hall on Saturday 17 December raised a total of £342.40 which will be split between Home Start West Dorset and Practical Action’s Early Warning Flood Scheme in Nepal.  This is an excellent result and the Committee would like to extend their thanks to everyone who supported this event in any way.

It was great having Home Start represented at the event.  This gave everyone a better insight of the excellent work that this charity does for families in need.  We will continue to support Home Start in 2012 and also another specific project initiated by Practical Action  -  the chosen project will be announced later in the year.

Sessions take place every week on Tuesdays . . . → READ MORE: “Pilates for All”]]> Jill Towell says the response to her new Pilates classes has been most encouraging and is delighted to announce that she intends to run classes twice per week from now on, in order to cope with demand. Both classes in Pilates to be held at Sydling Village Hall the next event being this Thursday -20th October. The next Tuesday class will be on Tuesday next 25th October All are most welcome.

Sessions take place every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2.00 p.m. until 3.00 p.m. £5 per class.
