I apologise for the lack of posts for the last couple of weeks, I know that James and I only got through a couple podcasts but the reason for the delay is because I’ve lost him. I’ve lost James.

Just after our last podcast was posted James’ new Xbox 360 arrived, this was soon followed by his new High Def monitor and he broke the good news to me over the phone the same morning they arrived. In hindsight though there was nothing to celebrate.

Since receiving his Xbox 360 James has gone underground and retreated into a hermit like existence. I’ve tried contacting him several times but even when I get through he only abuses me with bizarre juvenile humour - he seems to have confused his mobile with his Xbox Live headset. I’m going to try keep updating the website and, I’ll keep trying to see or call James whenever I can. I know addiction isn’t easy to beat but I’m going to try give him the support he and his family needs right now.

I don’t know what happens now…

James you will be missed :(

Alien Abduction: Incident at Lake County

When it comes to horror films I love films that present believable situations realistically, suspension of disbelief really sucks me in so when I first heard about Alien Abduction: Incident at Lake County I knew I was in for a real treat. Alien Abduction has none of the sleek or tacky Hollywood production we’ve become anaesthetised to; no clean cuts or tension music. Instead it’s simply the record of a family under siege by Aliens as seen through the eyes of a 16 year old playing around with his new video camera. Though some of the script is weak (you’ll see what I mean when it comes to Mom’s love for wine) its well worth a watch if you’ve seen the likes of Signs, The Blair Witch Project or Cloverfield (all clearly influenced by Alien Abduction). Though it never its achieved mainstream success Alien Abduction did achieve notoriety among UFO and paranormal enthusiasts years after its production when it resurfaced on the internet where many experts asserted it was credible evidence of alien invasion. Adding to this notoriety when it was later uncovered that Alien Abduction was a work of fiction it was then revealed that it was actually inspired by an earlier home movie of an apparently real abduction. Though that earlier film was later exposed as another work of fiction it goes to show the power this film has when it comes to suspending disbelief. Watch it alone and late at night. Don't really know what to make of this. For one, it looks like it's back to the good old '40's. But it could be set in the Pacific theatre. Does that help? Same game engine? Please be good. Sorry, I think I'm just a lil' bit nervous. I think I was expecting Call Of Duty: Universe At War. Now that'd be awesome. It'd have laser beams and shit instead of Thomsons, and the Coalition of the Willing would be trying to save millions of Alien refugees from persecution by North Korea. Ooh and the Koreans would have mad secret weapons too 'cos they are evil like that. It'd be pretty much a mix between Aliens Vs Predator and Crysis. And it'd totally upstage Medal of Honor: Afghan.

So the Sydney Apple Store is finally open. This is Australia's first Apple Store and we're about 3-4 years late.
The store is located in the heart of the Sydney shopping/tech district in George St and is the second largest Apple Store in the world. It opened its door to the public for the first time today at 5pm.
I personally think it's quite lame that Apple-wankers actually camped outside for the opening. That's so lame that I can't even believe it. I mean, who camps outside in order to go into a store. It's not like they're releasing a product that is gonna be sold out immediately. Lame.
The store costed $15 million to build. I walked past it on Monday and it is quite nice looking. But thats it.

Robbery, rape, murder, these aren't things you'd necessarily want to encounter in your everyday life but in 'Real Lives 2007' they're a common occurrence. Real Lives is an education simulation (don't let that put you off) that allows you to direct the lives of people around the world, from Alabama to Angola dripping with gritty realism. While the game or sim (which-ever you prefer) is designed to be educational it's a engrossing time killer if you're up late or doing some work. Though it mainly revolves around selecting either 'yes' or 'no' to random answers or situations that crop up, its open-ended nature gives it a whole lot of replay value, whether you want to try design a savvy self indulgent stock broker or attempt to help an impoverished ‘3rd worlder’ make their way into a 1st world country

"Decisions, decisions, decisions..."

Whether realistic or educational it's simply fun to mess with the traits of a character based on the decisions you make and ultimately decide their life direction. If you like time-killers and the likes of 'The Sims' and other open ended games definitely get it now. You can download the trial version below (which has everything except for the 'zoom' feature') plus its less than 10 MB!

Alot of our favourite games are known to have very interesting but at times reality-reverting glitches and in-game errors that we all somehow manage to manipulate into something that we'd play around with for hours.
The GTA series are notorious for its in-game glitches. Famous examples include 'sinking' cars that get stuck in virtual concrete in the middle of the freeway, clipping-free walls and car doors, seizure-prone vehicles, and the famous 'transparent' ground.
Below is a youtube video that some dude compiled of the latest glitch found in GTA IV. Oh well, at least it looks like it could be fun for a few hours.
For those playing at home, the swingset is found in the Broker borough of Liberty City.
