My school days

"SCHOOL LIFE IS THE GOLDEN ERA OF ONE'S COMPLETE LIFE"

When I look back, I find that my school days represent perfect kaleidoscope of the positive and the negative, the happy and the sad moments and overall a perfect fusion of life. School plays a crucial role in developing a child’s personality in every sphere. As a student, I was always full of energy and enthusiasm to participate in activities like debates, declamations, elocutions quizzes, group dances etc.

Participating in such competitions, gave me a lot of moral boost and confidence. Through these activities I realized my own potential, for which I’ll always be grateful to my school for giving my such opportunities.

I remember those Zero periods and the rehearsals with friends and chupke-chupke gossiping.

I can not resist to make mention of the teachers of the school, in some of whom I saw my parents. They’re so caring, so helping and so selfless. I remember those extra classes, when the teachers were present before the students whether it was 6am in the chilling winters or it was midnoon in the scorching summers. I would like to make a special mention of the school library which was always there to quench my thirst for reading whether it was fiction, thriller, poetry etc.

When I look at the mirror, I recall those debate practices. I remember how I used to stand for hours in front of the mirror, looking into my own eyes and speaking without a pause. I really miss all that.

Next, I will write about some of our habits in school and I’m sure many of us reading this article would identify with them. If one student is thirsty, we would never go alone for water, one of our friends has to accompany us and if teacher would not allow then none of us would go, no matter how thirsty we are. The favorite task of the day was to buy things from canteen after the break. The funniest thing was that all of us would go to canteen without a single penny, in a hope to find someone to give us a treat. Asking the teacher for a games period and when the teacher finally agreed, then not playing any game only chatting.

5th September and 14 November deserve a special mention. Saving money for months to contribute for the “TEACHERS DAY” party every year and waiting for the special treat by our class teachers on the “Children’s Day” was really exciting.

I really miss those short intervals and long assemblies, the home work, Principal’s daily speech, P.T.A meets, Birthdays songs, Vice-principal’s inspiring talks. I MISS EVERYTHING.

This is for those who are still the student - enjoy your school life to the fullest, love your school, respect your teachers because they are THE BEST, just live for school.

I REALLY WISH MY SCHOOL DAYS TO TAKE A LEAP BACK ON THE TIME SCALE.

Through this window of communication, I salute my all the teachers throughout my schooling, for making me apart from anything else - A GOOD HUMAN BEING.

Use of plastic

Plastic is the biggest burglar of modern times. Rivers, canals, roadsides even villages are littered with discarded plastic bags, especially the thin ones that are handed out by every vendor. It may be difficult to immediately stop using plastic bags and plastic sheets but it is very imperative to look at the option . If a plastic bag has been used, make it sure that it is thrown in a bin. I request my friends to refuse to take anything in plastic bag by which we people can contribute to save the environment and to make aware others too.

Each and every one of us must join hands to reduce the disastrous effects of discarded plastic.

Girl Education

Educating the girl is a high conception among all spheres these days and women feel that they are meant to be something more than household drudge. Thus, think of
companionship between an educated husband and an uneducated wife, who can converse on no other topic than cookery or servant's wages.

In my opinion, a person may keep on increasing qualification as long as he/she lives, however, most of the necessary "education" of a person is obtained in his/her
childhood when the mind is most amenable to instructions. And think of a child who is rated by an ignorant mother. So on all grounds, I state that educating a female
is a vital necessity. It is height of selfishness for those men, who fully appreciate the great advantage of a good education in their own case but deny these advantages
to women. There is no valid argument by which the exclusion of the females from privilege of education can be defended.

It is argued that women have many domestic works to do, and if they were educated, they would bury themselves in their books and will have little time to attend to
the management of their households. On a positive side, probably an educated woman could take care of households with better management in various aspects such
as economical, social, technical etc. Education would give women an opportunity to explore new horizons. It is not restrictive to leisure reading only but would also
inculcate in them, the knowledge of various factors which are important for life like the means by which health could be preserved and improved. They would be able
to go through modern books to rear up their children into healthy men and women and would also be able to nurse her family properly when some disease attacks
their homes. Of course, it is possible for women as much as it is for men, to neglect the necessary work in order to spare some time for their reading habits. But
women are less liable to this temptation than men, for they understand the priority to complete their household work and always try to manage everything in a better
way to be able to get spare time to refresh their minds in the intervals of leisure with little reading.

I conclude my write-up saying that educating a girl child means educating a family as the whole family is taken care of by a woman in some or the other form.......be it
a mother, sister, wife or daughter!!!

SAVE THE EARTH

We all know the rate of pollution is increasing day-by-day and where the world is heading towards because of pollution. Here are a few tips which we can simply follow in our daily life without any difficulty:-

Write on both side of the paper. For your personal use, make writing pad from one-sided printed sheets instead of purchasing a fresh writing pad or diary.
Refuse plastic containers to take away groceries, use paper bags and cloth bags.
Switch off the lights, fans, television and computers when you leave a room. Switching-off your computer monitors even when you are leaving your desk for short-period saves a lot of energy.
Don’t keep the tap open while you brush your teeth.
Gift saplings to friends alongwith advice to sow them for fresh air in future.

People often say that it does not look nice if we give a print-out on used sheet to some outsider as he/she might think that we are so miser or poor that we cannot purchase fresh sheets of paper. But, I think one should feel proud to use paper in that way as it is a great contribution towards saving trees which is important for maintenance of our environment and survival of life. This also serves as an example & spreads the message to others without saying a word on this topic. If you give lecture on this topic, people might find you boring and stop you from speaking but nobody can stop you from spreading such silent messages.

When people try to counter my views by saying that they have enough purchasing power, I usually ask them.....Is it sensible to purchase an expensive dress when you do not have food to eat? What is the use of a vehicle when there will be no fuel? What is the use of such a development which would end-up in killing the earth and consequently, the life. Then, why should we feel ashamed of making as much contributions towards environment as possible instead of unnecessary show-off.

Such activities might look little but we should not forget that an ocean is made by small drops of water. If each of us starts making such little contributions by shedding unnecessary show-off, I believe that we would not need to hold conferences on top of Himalayas spending lots of money just to discuss such a simple issue.

SUCCESS OF LIFE

There are some qualities which help a person to be successful like desire, commitment, responsibility, hard work, character, positive thinking, giving more than what you get and the power of persistence.

We all have these qualities. They may not be developed to the level that we want them to be but they are there. The path of life is often beset with hurdles, but let them not discourage you. Try to overcome them, and then only you can enjoy the happiness of your success. You can’t appreciate light without being aware of darkness.

Time management is important for all human beings. Time management is important if you really want to do work more efficiently.

Half of our life is spent trying to find something. We spent plenty of our time in commuting, standing in queues, waiting, criticizing and various other things. One of the first things is that there is never enough time in the day and if it is, it always is passing and it never returns.

Charles Kettering the famous inventor once said “My interest is in the future because I am going to spend the rest of my life there”. So we all need to manage our time in present to make a happy future.

The great scientist Albert Einstein, who profound in theory of relativity, pointed out that every object has not only three physical dimensions but also a fourth dimension – TIME.

Time has been rightly described as unidirectional, like an arrow which has left the bow and does not come back. People very carefully conserve resources, like money and material but very few realize that as important as all other resources is the time. It is amazing but true that most of educated persons lack a sense of time, but in sharp contrast, illiterate people move with clocklike precision in the course of their work.

Setting goals that are unrealistic and untimely done efforts sets us up for failures. Set goals which are difficult and try to achieve them by time management. Try to make a mental link between the efforts involved in managing time and the pleasure that will come from it. Always remember that world’s largest fires can be extinguished with a cup of water at the right time.

Language is an expression of human thoughts; analogous to a messenger, it has passed on the heritage of our ancestors since time immemorial. The most innovative of ideas need a form of interpretation so that they can be perceived by the world around. The English language is one such medium. Great authors like Shakespeare and Charles Dickens, penned down their dreams and introduced a new era of beliefs with their incomparable achievements. They have lived through the centuries in the minds of people. They have highlighted the importance of English language in putting forward one's emotions and genius.

Since my childhood, English has been my favorite subject. I believe that I am a person with great interest in philosophy and all these years English has been like a support for gaining knowledge of diverse topics. Moreover, English has helped me put down my thoughts in writing so that others can read them and correct me, if I think in wrong direction.

English is a beautiful language that needs deep understanding and passion from its users. I pay regards to all my English teachers who have helped me grow my interest in this field.

SUCCESS through GOOD CONVERSATION

A good conversationalist need not to be a scholar or an expert but he must be simple, sincere, human with an attractive personality. He must be above all a good listener. He must not be in the habit of breathing his own dreams. He must have regards for the opinion of others. A good conversationalist should have the following points on his mind....

1. Open your mouth when you must.
2. Do not try to impress others deliberately.
3. As far as possible avoid entering into a debate.
4. Endeavour to express yourself in appropriate words only.
5. If you wish to be a good orator, you must learn to be a good listener.
6. Do not talk all the time, allow others to talk too. For becoming good conversationalist, you will have to read, think, listen, have to take interest in activities and hobbies of your friends, you will have to know jokes, stories, enlarge your vocabulary and above all you must be extremly polite in the language you use...

and at last, the most important...
DO NOT RAISE YOUR VOICE TO PROVE YOUR ARGUMENT..... instead, IMPROVE YOUR ARGUMENT...
