People have called geohost a genius for his blackra1n jailbreak, saying it was the easiest jailbreak ever. Those people were probably not owners of one of the original iPhone, because they would of remembered what was truly the easiest jailbreak ever, Jailbreakme.com.

After a recent court ruling that decided jailbreaking is a fair and legal use of your iPhone Jailbreakme.com is back and as easy as ever. Just navigate to Jailbreakme.com in safari, and slide the bar across the screen and wait about two minutes and you are jailbroken.

This is the first Jailbreak that untethered the 3Gs with the new bootrom, and the first to jailbreak the iPhone4. However there are some problems with the iPhone 4 that will hopefully be resolved soon. After jailbreaking iPhone 4 users will not be able to use facetime or send MMS messages til a fix comes out.

Sometime when the server is really busy, when you slide the bar you will get a purple screen with nothing happening. There isn’t a whole lot you can do about this problem other than try again. If it still isn’t working, wait a few hours and try once more. Right after the jailbreak came out it took me a hundred tries to get anything to happen.

Robbing a bank is wrong, because you are taking something that does not belong to you, and that you did not work for. However, I am not sure that the same morals have the same application in the cyber world. Stealing a car is one thing, but would it be so bad if you could just copy and paste your car? That difference is the line between piracy and thievery.

Therefore I think the morale code needs to be adjusted and I will use the iPhone app store for my example. Say I were visiting Washington DC for the weekend and planned on using the metro there. I would never pay for an app that I would only use for a weekend, that’s just ridiculous to me. However it wouldn’t be to much of a hassle to pirate it. What difference does this make to the creator of the app? None at all because if I were not able to pirate it, I would of never bought it. Either way he doesn’t make a dime so what does it matter?

On the other hand when I first saw the Civilization Revolution App in the AppStore I did not hesitate for one second to put down $10, because I love that series of games.  If I were to pirate Civilization Revolution, that would be wrong. What’s the difference? If piracy did not exist, I would of bought the app regardless. So by pirating the app I would be taking away a customer, and a commission from the people behind the product. Essentially I would be stealing because it puts the creators at a loss.

Piracy and theft are not the same crime even thought they’re often seen that way. Piracy does not have to cost the person being taken from whereas stealing always leaves it’s victims wronged. The Internet is not held to the limitations of the physical world, and the morals do not work the same way after they cross the line into cyberspace.

This post card may be a funny prank on a non-believer now, but one day it could become a reality. During a zombie apocalypse you can’t always save your friends and family, and when are cornered sometimes you have to make a tough decision. Just remember it’s not your sweet grandma that used to bring you cookies anymore. That old lady wants to suck your brains out your head through a straw. It’s ok to be upset but take the shot.

I just stumbled across this site that goes pretty in depth about copyrights and some of their problems. There are plenty of pages out there bashing copyrights, but this one was written in a unique voice with a passively rebellious sort of attitude. He points out some ridiculousness and gives reasonable ways to respond to our copyrighted world. Did you know that you can’t even sing happy birthday without breaking a copyright law, or that the phrase “Freedom of Expression ” is trademarked? You life is not read-only really brings to light wonderful points on the matter.

You check your facebook throughout the day hoping for some menial form of human interaction, and you are almost always disappointed. The one day out of the year that you are probably actually doing something in real life with real people, all of your facebook friends jump at the chance to spam your wall.

Personally I feel like pic2shop has much more potential and features than RedLaser but does not have the professional feel that Redlaser does. I also have a harder time trying to scan things with pic2shop and it seems to be slightly less accurate. For now RedLaser is still on top, but it may not be much longer

Luckily this problem is very easy to fix. The default homepage uses this search so you should change your homepage to the regular google or to wherever else you like. To change your homepage click edit on your top bar, go to preferences, then type a new homepage url.

To fix the Google search box on your navigation bar go to this page and click the green “add to firefox” button. A dialog box should pop up. Check the box that says “start using right away” and click add. Your searches will now be back to normal.

I’ve been all Ubuntu on you laptop for a long time and successfully found ways out of using almost all windows only programs for a while now. Sadly, at the end of things there are just a somethings you just can’t use linux for, like tethering iPhones and iTunes. Smaller rarely used programs just don’t have alternatives and some hardware like the iPhone will only work with windows and OSX. However, I’m in no way giving up on Ubuntu so I broke down and decided to dual boot.

The first thing I would suggest when dual booting is installing windows first and Ubuntu second because windows doesn’t always play nicely with others and I much prefer GRUB boot-loader to the windows one. When installing windows I completely deleted all pre-existing partitions (after backing up everything important of course), and created a new partition for windows around 30GB to leave room for the OS, some apps, and anything else I may have to add in the future.

When I installed Ubuntu I formatted a EXT3 partition for it around the same size and used the Ubuntu disc utility to format the rest of the drive FAT32. The FAT drive can be shared by both operating systems so I won’t have to waste space putting all the same music and movies on both partitions or ever have to wonder which OS that song is in. I still use Ubuntu as my main OS but it is nice to have windows around when I really need it. Just don’t go crazy trying to remember which side the window buttons are on.
