We’re dealing with a 12.2 incher here and this ASUS Pad uses a dual layer OLED display with a 2.8K resolution and a gaming-focused refresh rate of 144 Hz. The tandem technology, aka the dual layer one uses two OLED emission layers, that improve brightness, power efficiency and panel lifespan compared to traditional OLEDs.

The display also covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and goes up to 600 nits in brightness. Inside we find a midrange CPU offering, the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 chipset, with a 4 nm tech. There’s also a rather modest 8 GB of RAM, at least it’s LPDDR5X, plus up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Storage expansion is available for up to 1 TB via microSD. Then there’s a quad speaker system, with Dolby Atmos and a 9000 mAh battery that charges at 45W.

Software-wise, the tablet runs on Android 16, with some AI powered features included. Circle to Search is here, Gemini is well integrated and ASUS GlideX supports screen sharing, file transfers and cross device workflows. Microsoft claims this it the brightest display they’ve ever put on a Surface. It also has a record breaking size for a trackpad on a Surface. There’s also the powerful new CPU RTX Spark, together with up to 128 GB of unified memory. Microsoft is even updating Windows to handle it better. They’re basically raising the memory ceiling available to the GPU, so you can load a larger local AI model onto it. Thermal-wise, NVIDIA and MS deliver the new Microsoft Power and Thermal Framework (MPTF), desgined to deliver improved performance per watt and keep the machine cool even when working hard. Then there’s the ARM thing: the likes of Photoshop and Premiere run natively on ARM and have been optimized for RTX Spark. Gaming is… almost there, but League of Legends, Valorant and PUBG are here.
