On last Thursday's Colbert Report, Stephen's guest in Iraq was Command Sgt. Major Frank Grippe. At the end of the interview he got the Command Sergeant to order the troops to do the hokey pokey.

They put their right hands in, and then stood there for a while... till the Command Sergeant gave the order to put there hands back out. No big deal, right?

Except that for like 5 seconds this is what it looked like:

Oh my...

Obama adorably excuses a girl from school.

Cute, huh?

Sometimes you can feel the rug pulled from below your feet
It's like one minute you're like a rock standing strong
and the next you're beat
It's not up to you, something's always there,
working behind the scenes
Invisible hands handcuffing and last chance bluffing,
feeding their greed

Pacified reason, it's adding up to treason,
we are your slap in the face now
The sons who've been cast out
Slip under the wire, our spark ignites the fire
It's all smoke and mirrors and a transparent truth
Hold it up but don't trust it
It's all a hoodwink disappearing ink on the page
Built you up and then crushed it

It's all a bait and switch, a blind fold that we must wear
A promise of a life so real so close you can grab it
but it's thin as air
Each and every one gets a day in the sun
and you just might get one too
If you just believe what they're telling and buy what they're selling
It could happen to you

You give it all, get nothing back
Just trying to keep your head intact
You're just a shape without a soul
You grind along until you die
Your meaning comes from what you buy
Spend your life in the dark, end it with a question mark

Oh, and uh... Dan and I made a website called falala.la! It's a place to create open-ended statements and let the world complete them.

We hope it'll compete for what little free time you have left. We've been pretty busy with it, building in new features and the like. And we'll soon have rss... which should make the whole thing easier to keep track of (who visits websites these days?).

Either way, check out these falala's:

Before the Internet...
My heart was set on...
Your favorite band sucks because...
You have completely lost touch if...

Or

Start your own!

Sprint denied Pre's to its own customers in favor of new subscribers.

When I went to a Sprint store to check out a pre, I was just planning on playing with one. I didn't really think I'd be able to buy one at 3:30 on Saturday, but either way I optimistically asked the guy at the store if they had any in stock. He replied to my query with "are you a current Sprint subscriber?" and i responded, "What does that have to do with anything?," to which he stalled and started blankly. I then said "no, i'm not" and he said "Well then, yes, we do have some Pre's in stock."

During my sign up and set up, several people called who were sprint customers and got the "sorry, we're out, wanna get on the waiting list?" response.

It's pretty ridiculous to think that Sprint would shit on it's own customers like that. I guess it makes sense in an capitalistic greed kinda way, but it made me feel dirty the whole time I sat there (and even now). I guess that's what I have to look forward to with them. ah well, I love my pre!

I guess this could be an isolated incident with this specific retailer, but he had to call someone else at Sprint to activate my account and spoke openly about this to them, so it seems like it was company wide.

the MC5!!!!

You gotta kick 'em out!!

b flat
