It was developed by Barrett Firearms company in 1980 and was first used in 1989. Today it is being used by armies and other units all over the world, including American Special forces.

It was designed in two variants:

M82A1 (original) and M82A2 (used the bullpup).

Design:

This short recoil semi-automatic sniper rifle is using powerful 12.7×99mm NATO ammunition, also known as .50 cal. M82 was made to penetrate armors like a ballistic vest. Rounds are stored in a large detachable box which can hold up to 10 rounds. All the measures were taken to make this weapon as light as possible, even the barrel is fluted to save weight and also improve heat dissipation. M82 in U.S. army are often equipped with Leupold Mark 4 telescopic sight mounted on a rail.

Overview:

When the M82 it took some time to being used in actual combat. First success was in 1990 when the U.S. army used the M82A1 during the operations in Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Iraq and Kuwait. Soon after the U.S. Marine Corps bought it more orders followed from all over the world from more than 30 countries. In U.S. military it is known as SARS – Special Applications Scoped Rifle. High effective ammunition was effective in operations against radar cabins, trucks, light armored vehicles, etc. It is being used in U.S. coast guard against the drug smugglers and many law enforcement agencies.

The latest improvementsand changes are all stored in a “new” rifle so called M107
M110 Semi-Automatic sniper rifle was designed to combine perfectly accuracy, firepower, light-weight and rate of firing in one single weapon.

It uses an instant kill 7.62x51mm NATO ammunition, the same as its predecessor M24. Manufacturer Knight's Armament Company tried to keep the M24's accuracy when designing the M110.

It also uses a very efficient sound and muzzle flash suppressor which can make all the difference in sniper missions where stealth is most important.

M110 uses the updated rail system design wth integral folding front 600 meter back-up iron sight. It has adjustable buttstock and uses
KAC's 30 mm scope. Another unique feature this sniper rifle possesses is a thermal optical sight which enables the shooter to see even through fog, dense smoke or at night.

This weapon is being used in the US army since 2009 and it is also being sold commercially under High Power Rifle Rules.

F2000 Assault Rifle

They call it the weapon of 21 st century. It was developed in 2001 by the Belgian manufacturer Fabrique Nationale.

in Herstal this 5.56mm assault rifle was a breakthrough in design and development in light assault weapons. Modular weapon system F2000 uses 5.56×45mm caliber assault rifle bullets and it can held up to 30-round in a case. The rifle is almost entirely built out of a polymer plastic. This rifle is a gas-operated design utilizing a short-stroke piston system.

One of the design improvements was one-hand firing capability. Soldiers don't need to hold the rifle with two hands anymore which gives a shooter more mobility.

Rifle consists of two assemblies: barrel and receiver which are joined together.

On the top of the barrel group there is MIL-STD-1913 rail which is used for mounting different optical sights and is also used as a carrying handle. This rifle uses all the latest gadgets such as: built-in laser sight, halogen tactical lights, a 40mm grenade launcher (for example M203), shotgun and less lethal launcher.

The F2000 ejection system is also brand new, ejecting spent cartridge casings forward and to the right side of the gun. When firing the shooter can choose between three modes: safe, semi-automatic and fully automatic.

Few variants have been developed for a different purposes:

F2000 Tactical: it lacks the optical sight and comes with an extended top receiver
FS2000: is legal for civilians, semi-automatic version
FS2000 Tactical: is equipped with extended barrel and attached flash suppressor
FS2000 Standard: it lacks a grenade launcher computer, it is equipped with F2000 1.6x magnification optic sight

It is used by army in several countries: East Timor, Belgium, Chile, Croatia, India, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Saudi Arabia and Slovenia.

This gun is still in process of testing and has not yet seen any major combats. Some sources even say that the rifle is too complex to handle it in combat. It must be assembled with

great care to avoid fracturing any small parts.

Specifications:

Weight: 3.8 kg (8.38 lb) (F2000)

3.6 kg (7.9 lb) (F2000 Tactical)

Length: 690 mm (27.2 in)

Barrel length: 400 mm (15.7 in)

Cartridge: 5.56x45mm NATO

The 45acp normally does not generate a huge amount of pressure, but modern day +P loads offered by premier manufacturers such as Cor-Bon, Winchester and Federal present increased muzzle flip on a standard 1911 since they are loaded to higher pressures to increase hollow point performance. This is where the T3 Comp comes into its own. Since the ports of the Schuemann Match Grade Barrel are positioned directly on top of the slide, the muzzle flip is reduced by forcing the energy of the blast downwards.

Another feature unique to the T3 Comp is the front sight being integrated into the barrel rather than being positioned on the slide. The slide is relieved to allow the hybrid comp ports to be blended into the cutout on the slide. A sight cut is made directly on to the port area of the barrel, so the front sight stays in line with the barrel while the slide retracts during shooting.

The new T3 Comp retains all of the familiar upgrades of the standard T3 that you have all come to admire. The addition of the new features allow this defensive fighting gun even more versatility.

The features include:

Schuemann Match Grade AET (Advanced Accelerated Threads) barrel
Frame and Slide cut from Forgings
Match-Grade Lightweight Trigger with Black-Out Finish Scheme

The Reaper UAV used to be known as the Predator 2 or Predator B. The armament of the UAV which has a maximum ceiling of 50,000 ft include Hellfire missiles and laser guided bombs. In fact, this beast can carry over 14 Hellfire Missiles compared to 2 on the original predator. The Reaper can also remain airborne for up to 14 flight hours. Basically, the original Predator provided a testbed for this UAV technology. Once it was proven that a Predator could accurately fire hellfire missiles, it was decided that a larger version should be produced that would increase the UAV capabilities.

At about the same size as an A-10 Thunderbolt, the Reaper is almost twice the size as the orginial Predator. The plane is shown climbing out shortly after takeoff from Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas. The stealthy, multi-service F-35 is the most powerful single-engine fighter in history, and is designed to replace the F-16, F/A-18 Hornet, the Harrier and the A-10.

“The Lightning II performed beautifully,” said F-35 Chief Pilot Jon Beesley following the flight. “What a great start for the flight-test program, and a testimony to the people who have worked so hard to make this happen.” The most powerful engine ever placed in a fighter aircraft – the Pratt & Whitney F135 turbofan, with 40,000 pounds of thrust – effortlessly pushed the F-35 skyward.

The flight of the conventional takeoff and landing (CTOL) F-35 variant began at 12:44 p.m. CST at Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth, Texas, when the jet lifted off and began a climb-out to 15,000 feet. Beesley then performed a series of maneuvers to test aircraft handling and the operation of the engine and subsystems. He returned for a landing at 1:19 p.m CST. Two F 16s and an F/A-18 served as chase aircraft.

The stealthy F-35 is a supersonic, multi-role, 5TH Generation fighter designed to replace a wide range of existing aircraft, including AV-8B Harriers, A-10s, F-16s, F/A-18 Hornets and United Kingdom Harrier GR.7s and Sea Harriers.

“The first flight of the F-35 Lightning II is an historic moment because, for the first time ever, we are seeing the dawn of an aircraft with all the 5TH Generation attributes – including advanced stealth, fighter agility, sensor fusion and greatly improved supportability – combined in an affordable package,” said Ralph Heath, president of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co. “The F-35 will be the most advanced and most capable multi-role fighter on the international market for many, many years to come.”

Dan Crowley, Lockheed Martin executive vice president and general manager of the F-35 program, said the aircraft has continued to meet or exceed expectations during its assembly and pre-flight checkouts. It has now embarked on a 12,000-hour flight-test program designed to validate tens of thousands of hours of testing already completed in F-35 laboratories. “The F-35 will enter service as the most exhaustively tested, most thoroughly proven fighter system in history,” Crowley said. “And thanks to its all-digital design, an exceptionally talented international engineering team and the world’s best assemblers and mechanics, the F-35 has completely rewritten the book on fighter assembly precision and quality.”

The United States and eight international partners are involved in the F-35′s funding and development. The U.S. Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps, and the United Kingdom’s Royal Air Force and Royal Navy plan to acquire a total of 2,581 F-35s. Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Canada, Australia, Denmark and Norway also are partners in the program and are expected to add about 700 more aircraft to the total. F-35 sales to other international customers could push the final number of aircraft to 4,500 or beyond.

FA-22 Raptor

The FA-22 Raptor is a symbol of Future Firepower. The Raptor encompasses advanced avionics, a very maneuverable airframe, and the ability to cruise at supersonic speeds without the use of an afterburner which increases it’s effective range.
The Apache is likely the most lethal killing machine ever built. The 30mm turret mounted below the pilot moves with the pilot’s helmet-mounted optical target selection system, which allows the pilot to aim the weapon without operating a joystick, simply look at it, and it can be killed, day or night, rain or shine.
In this picture, troops on the ground have called in an attack on a building that insurgents are hiding inside. The Apache fires its 30mm cannon and hydra rockets, which utterly devastate the structure. Despite only the complete destruction of the front section of the building, people hiding in the rear would likely be killed as well due to the shock waves and shrapnel from the high explosive rounds and hydra rockets. Either that, or they will be dealt with by a second pass by the Apache or by a wave of US soldiers sweeping the area for damage assessment and mop up.

Leclerc French Main Battle Tank

The French, their military history aside, actually are widely known in Europe for their innovative and solid armored vehicle designs. In the mid 1980′s, Britain introduced its Challenger 2 main battle tank, Germany rolled out the impressive Leopard 2, and the US unveiled its M1A1 Abrams tank. The world was being introduced to battle machinery that combined decades of design research and cutting edge electronics systems. Not wanting to be left behind, the French decided to join the party. They had initially planned on simply importing the German Leopard 2 tank, but after some cost forecasting and design speculation, these plans were rejected. Thus the French decided to design their own tank, and they specialized in different aspects of design from other Western tanks. In steps the GIAT industries Leclerc French Main Battle Tank.

Indeed, it only bodes well for Western civilization to have diversity amongst tank designs, especially among allies. The most notable specializations of the Leclerc are its propulsion and driving capabilities. The Leclerc is not only the fastest western tank, but it is also the quickest to stop, having a hydro pneumatic retarder built into the gearbox that can utilize the tanks engine to aide in slowing the vehicle. Likewise, these capabilities are also made possible because the Leclerc is the lightest main battle tank, which also helps it to be transported easily and cost-effectively. All in all, the Leclerc Main Battle Tank is an impressive design that adds value to the militaries of NATO.

The British Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank

The British Challenger 2 Main battle tank has several innovations unique to its design. One of the foremost innovations devised by the Brits is a type of armor known as Chobham armor, which is a layered matrix of steel and ceramics. In fact, incorporating layers of ceramic into steel has been a newer technique of strengthening steel, (the strongest knife blades are now layered steel and ceramics, because the ceramics provide an added measure of flexibility. The Chobham armor is known to perform especially well against HEAT (High explosive anti-tank) rounds. In one encounter in Iraq, one Challenger 2 was hit by 8 RPGs in close range and one MILAN anti-tank missile and managed to escape to be repaired. Another improvement currently being made to the Challenger 2 is the replacement of its 120 mm rifled cannon barrel with a smooth bore cannon, which will enable the Challenger to fire depleted uranium rounds among other more lethal ammunition developed by the US and Germany.
So the Germans have a tank that is comparable to the American Abrams line of tanks. Big deal right? Of course not! The Leopard is fighting side by side with the American Abrams in Afghanistan and Iraq right now! The Canadians in particular have deployed many Leopards to Afghanistan for combat roles, and the opinions on which tank is better are mixed.

It basically goes both ways, each tank has its pros and cons, and in the end; they both are equally as effective against the threats they face there. The similarities in the American Abrams and the German Leopard 2 are due to the fact that they are both based on the same design. In the mid-70s the Germans and Americans teamed up to build a tank together, but couldn’t agree on certain points. They both took the existing design they had come up with and then went their own directions. But how would they stack up against a more modern force than Afghani goat herders? Chinese tanks, Russian tanks? Only time will tell on that one. Unless we could steal a tank…

JASSM Cruise Missile

“We need some options on the table!” Yells a military commander sitting in the Pentagon.

“How about the option to hit them with stealth cruise missiles, sir?” Says a lowly defense analyst in the back.

“What did you say!?” Screams the general.

“Well sir, we can just have our jets launch these JASSM cruise missisles from about 230 miles out sir. No one is put at risk but them, and they cost $300,000 less than Tomohawk missiles. We’ll save some money and take out the targets.”

“Brilliant! Order the strikes. What did you say your name was? How would you like me to take you out to Chilis for some fajitas?”

And so goes the scenario in the Pentagon in 2009 once the JASSM (Joint Air to Surface Standoff Missile) stealth cruise missile goes into operational service. The missile has been in development since 1996, and the production costs have reached $3 bn so far. Never fear though, because these missiles actually cost less, and work better than their main competitor, the Tomohawk cruise missile. Stand-Off range is basically considered a range long enough to where we can attack them, but they can’t attack us. Brilliant indeed. The missile carries a 1000 lb warhead, and can be fitted with nuclear, chemical, conventional, or even biological warheads.

APFSDS Armor - Piercing Fin

A Kinetic energy Projectile is one that can pierce through advanced armor more efficiently due to a smaller penetration surface and a high rate of speed. As you can see the munition bursts apart leaving a small rod that can penetrate advanced armor technology such as reactive armor. Typically the penetrator rods are constructed of extremely high-density metals such as depleted uranium or tungsten. The purpose of a sabot with rounds such as these is to increase the velocity of the projectile when fired. The sabot acts to harness more of the force from the blast used to fire the round, then is discarded mid-flight to the target.
KE rounds are different from Heat rounds such as shape charges that rely on blast fragmentation to penetrate armor. The image below shows the arsenal of 120MM rounds that the Abrams Tank is capable of firing. In the Abrams video it shows the tanks firing an APFSDS round and it shedding its sabot in slow motion. All of the rounds are used for different tactical situations and to defeat different types of armor.

AGM-86C Conventional Air

This particular Cruise Missile is launched by a B52 Bomber and propelled by a turbofan jet engine at approximately 500 MPH. The AGM-86C is very hard to detect with radar due to its small profile.
