Today, The Copyright Act (Amendment) Bill, 2012 was passed by the Indian Lok Sabha, which witnessed unusual unanimity on the matter with members from all parties supporting the measure for creative artistes whose benefits are cornered by producers. Song writers, artistes and performers, deprived of their dues so far, can now claim royalty for their creations.

The bill, passed by the Rajya Sabha on May 17, declares authors as owners of the copyright, which cannot be assigned to the producers as was the practice till now. The bill makes it mandatory for broadcasters — both radio and television — to pay royalty to the owners of the copyright each time a work of art is broadcast.

It bans people from bringing out cover versions of any literary, dramatic or musical work for five years from the first recording of the original creation.

The bill received overwhelming support including the Opposition which appreciated the government for such a step, though belatedly.

History of Copyright Law of India:

Copyright is a right given by the law to creators of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works and producers of cinematograph films and sound recordings. In fact, it is a bundle of rights including, inter alia, rights of reproduction, communication to the public, adaptation and translation of the work. There could be slight variations in the composition of the rights depending on the work.

The Indian Copyright Act, 1957 governs the system of copyrights in India. Copyright Law in the country was governed by the Copyright Act of 1914, was essentially the extension of the British Copyright Act, 1911 to India, and borrowed extensively from the new Copyright Act of the United Kingdom of 1956. Now Indian Copyright is governed by the Indian Copyright Act, 1957.

The Evo 4G LTE sports a high-end design that seems inspired by iPhone 4 and BlackBerry Bold handsets.

With its new HTC Evo 4G LTE, Sprint is the latest U.S. carrier to jump on the HTC One X bandwagon. Like its HTC One X cousin on AT&T, the Evo 4G LTE offers a sleek design, a quality camera, and Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

With 5.31 inches tall by 2.72 inches wide, there’s no denying that this new Evo 4G LTE is a handful. At just 0.35 inch thick, though, the phone is a hair thinner than the One X. That’s trim enough to make you forget its sizable footprint. Additionally, somehow the Evo 4G LTE manages to weigh a light 4.73 ounces despite its laundry list of powerful internal parts.

Sporting a gigantic 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 (1,280×720-pixel) display, the front of the HTC Evo 4G is almost all screen. On the HTC EVO 4G LTE there are three capacitive buttons for back, home, and recent applications below the screen. A stylish silver, oval power button and standard 3.5mm headphone jack are on the handset’s top edge. On the phone’s back is its main 8-megapixel camera with LED flash. It sits on the top portion, which is crafted from high-gloss plastic and covers the Evo’s microSD card slot.

The HTC Evo 4G LTE‘s cutting-edge software is just as compelling as the phone’s high-octane hardware. Besides the latest iteration of Google’s Android OS, version 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, you also get HTC’s freshly revamped Sense user interface. The HTC Evo 4G LTE is unlocked by either pulling a virtual ring from the bottom of the screen to the center, or moving icons into the ring to quick-launch the related functions. The Evo 4G has seven screens available for personalizing with application shortcuts and animated widgets. HTC’s classic weather clock plays center stage on the main home screen. Tapping the widget’s digital readout launches a world clock with a fancy 3D globe visual; selecting the weather portion of the clock activates a detailed forecast.

Being a state-of-the-art Android device, the Evo 4G LTE comes with the standard Google services installed, such as Gmail, Google+, and Navigation, along with the Play Store, from which you can download apps from a catalog of more than 500,000 titles. Play also provides digital books, movies, games, and music to purchase. For entertainment options, HTC’s Watch app offers a decent selection of TV shows and movies for rental or purchase.

With the $199.99 HTC Evo 4G LTE, both HTC and Sprint have gone well out of their way to rekindle that old Evo magic. It’s a phone that’s light-years better than its predecessors and flaunts enough features plus a delectable design to strike real fear in the hearts of competitors Samsung and Motorola. The Evo 4G LTE has 1GB of RAM memory, 16GB of internal storage, and a microSD slot that can support an additional 32GB.

HTC EVO 4G LTE review

Now a days, Google releases a new ranking algorithm update every week. Last week, Google’s Matt Cutts announced that there is another algorithm update that targets web spam.

Google doesn’t like web spam

“In the next few days, we’re launching an important algorithm change targeted at webspam. The change will decrease rankings for sites that we believe are violating Google’s existing quality guidelines.

We’ve always targeted webspam in our rankings, and this algorithm represents another improvement in our efforts to reduce webspam and promote high quality content.

While we can’t divulge specific signals because we don’t want to give people a way to game our search results and worsen the experience for users, our advice for webmasters is to focus on creating high quality sites that create a good user experience and employ white hat SEO methods instead of engaging in aggressive webspam tactics.”

Which things are Google considers as spam:

Google’s announcement shows two examples. The first example is a page that is stuffed with hundreds of keywords in a comma separated list.

Google doesn’t want that type of pages in the search results. The second example is a page that has normal text. However, the text contains keyword optimized links that are totally unrelated to the surrounding text.

Google also considers spam are linking schemes, misleading redirects or purposeful duplicate content.

Google loves the right kind of SEO:

Many people confuse search engine optimization with spamming. Spamming and SEO are two totally different things.

Google’s latest announcement also contains a statement about “white hat” SEO:

“Effective search engine optimization can make a site more crawlable and make individual pages more accessible and easier to find. [...]

‘White hat’ search engine optimizers often improve the usability of a site, help create great content, or make sites faster, which is good for both users and search engines.”

How to react to Google’s latest ranking algorithm

Google released two algorithm updates: a Panda update on April, 19th and the update explained above on April, 24th. If your web page rankings dropped on April, 19th, then you have to improve the quality of your web pages.

If your page rankings dropped on April, 24th, then you have to remove all spam elements from your web pages. If you think that your website was flagged by mistake, you can inform Google through reconsideration form.

If you want to be on the safe side, Only use white-hat SEO methods:

If you use shady SEO methods – Google might penalize your website. If you want to be on the safe side, only use white-hat SEO methods.

In today’s Internet-led world, the benefits of backlinks have never been more important when it comes to online visibility. Having your website’s rank high with search engines is a key part to any online success, and backlinks are a crucial part of that success.

Many webmasters are not sure about the best way to get backlinks to their sites. There are one-way links, reciprocal links, nofollow links, paid links and more. Here I can help you to improve your link building activities so that you get the most effective links for your site.

If backlinks did not affect your search engine rankings in any way, which type of backlinks would you build?

The answer is simple: you would focus on the links that deliver visitors to your website. If you get backlinks that deliver targeted visitors, you will make money with these links and you will increase your rankings at the same time.

If a nofollow link drives visitors to your website then it’s still a good link. In addition, nofollow links contribute to the natural link profile of your website.

When you find a website that could be a good link partner, don’t worry about the nofollow attribute.

As long as the anchor text is related to your website, everything is fine. Don’t try to get the perfect anchor text from every linking page.

The content around the link is usually much more important for the click-through rate that a link gets. If it is in the right context, a simple “Click here” link might drive more visitors to your website than a link with an over-optimized anchor text.

Give the other website a reason to link to your site. Some websites request money, others simply want a backlink or content that they can use on their pages (for example an article).

Some websites will link to you if you correct an error on their pages (a typo, a broken link, etc.).

Build links as if search engines did not exist. If you manage to get backlinks that drive targeted visitors to your website, you will get additional sales and higher rankings on search engines.

As you can see, backlinks are a crucial part of any traffic-building exercise for website owners. As long as you use them properly and are diligent when it comes to who links back to you, the benefits of backlinks will continue to grow for anyone online today.

From the last few weeks, Google sent many webmaster notification messages about unnatural links. If you have received such a message, here’s few suggestions what you have to do to make sure that your website doesn’t get penalized.

What is this Google unnatural links message?

Google has sent the following message to many webmasters:

“Dear site owner or webmaster of example.com.

We’ve detected that some of your site’s pages may be using techniques that are outside Google’s Webmaster Guidelines.

Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes.

We encourage you to make changes to your site so that it meets our quality guidelines. Once you’ve made these changes, please submit your site for reconsideration in Google’s search results.

If you find unnatural links to your site that you are unable to control or remove, please provide the details in your reconsideration request.

If you have any questions about how to resolve this issue, please see our Webmaster Help Forum for support.

Sincerely,

Google Search Quality Team”

What will happen, after you get such a message?

Webmasters who received such a message observed that many sites were penalized within 3 to 4 weeks after the message. The penalty is for the keywords that are included in the unnatural links.

If most of the links that point to your website are unnatural links then the whole website might be penalized.

What are unnatural links?

There are several backlink types that Google finds unnatural:

Public backlink networks: Google doesn’t like fully automated or paid backlink networks. If you participate in a backlink network that can be joined by anyone (even for a fee) then it is very likely that Google has already penalized the network or that the network is a target for the near future.

If you can find the backlink network, Google’s engineers can find it, too.

Private backlink networks: Some SEO agencies have private backlink networks. Google probably has the technology to find these networks without creating accounts.

Paid sidebar links: If your website has too many backlinks from the sidebars of other websites, Google might find them unnatural.

Over-optimized anchor text: If the links to your website all use exactly the same anchor text, it is likely that Google might reconsider the rankings of the linked pages.

Fake forum and social media links: some tools create fake forum and social media site accounts to get backlinks to your website. Chances are that Google can detect that type of link.

What should you do?

If you used one of the methods above to get backlinks to your website, try to get rid of these links as quickly as possible.

The formula to high rankings on Google search is very easy:

Good content + good backlinks + no spam = high rankings

Optimize the content of your website’s pages to make sure that Google Search and other search engines know what your website is about. Then get good backlinks to show search engines that your website can be trusted.

Google has become more aggressive regarding spammy backlinks. In the past, a website might get high rankings for several months until Google detected the site. Now it seems that the it takes a maximum of 3 months until Google detects the spammers.

Do not fall for SEO solutions that promise quick and easy backlinks. It doesn’t make sense to get high rankings for 2-3 months just to get penalized after that time. If you are serious about your business, you have to use strategies that deliver high rankings that will stay forever, even if it takes longer time to get these rankings in the short term. Share your suggestions on this matter by way of comment.

Quality title will get you much higher CRT% then KEYWORD stuffed one!

Yes I really believe that visitor oriented title will get you further then KEYWORD’s stuffed one. Example:

<title>KEYWORD PHRASE 1 | KEYWORD PHRASE 2 | KEYWORD PHRASE 3</title>

Won’t get your as many clicks/visitors as:

<title>Best KEYWORD PHRASE 1 and KEYWORD PHRASE 2 source online at www.site.com</title>

I know this may get disputed a lot but just what I noticed from all the sites I’ve tested so far and that were in top 3 (so actually getting enough visitors to test on).
So make sure to include a call to action or a personalized message to your visitors in the title as this is what average SE user will notice first and decide to visit the site or not.

Next don’t be afraid to split test your titles – yes, keep the core the same so you’d avoid rising any flags but you can play with the wording a lot and actually see up to 1% difference in your CTR’s.

Keep within the KEYWORD count limits if you want your title to be fully displayed in SEARCH ENGINE

This is really simple but 60% of sites I worked with got it wrong. So here are some tips on writing a good SEO optimized title (not my words but love it!)

“Place the most important keywords or keyword phrases at the beginning of the tag and keep your title short, roughly 10 to 64 characters including spaces. Try to minimize the use of stop words, such as a, an, of, on, etc., as they consume character count and offer no value.”

Also make sure EACH page of your site has a different title than other.

If you’re using WordPress I’d advise you to go with WordPress SEO by Yoast or All in One Seo Pack to help you achieve this.

Avoid using any special characters in your title (& for example) as you’ll most likely mess up the code of the site and Google won’t “read” correctly. You can always quickly check this by right clicking the “View page source” option. So if you see any funny characters in your title – re-do it!

META KEYWORD TAG AND META DESCRIPTION TAG

META KEYWORD TAG

All right this is where I’ve see a lot of people go wrong as well.

They stuff their Meta KeyWord tag in hopes of squeezing in as many KeyWord’s as possible in order to rank for them. Well this is only counter – productive. The best way to use Meta KeyWord tag is to simply just put in 2 most important KeyWord’s and separate them with comma and that’s it! Nothing more needs to be done here! Some even leave it out completely but I’m still putting it 2 most important keyword’s.

META DESCRIPTION TAG

“This can provide potential visitors very relevant information that probably will not be displayed in the snippet otherwise, and can increase the CTR from the search engine results.

Keep all descriptions larger than 50 characters, and no more than 149 characters, including spaces, Google displays 154 characters, but other search engines display even less.
Be aware that if you are adding irrelevant words into the description it can possibly trigger search engine spam filters. “

One of the SEO plugins mentioned above will actually help you out a lot when creating this as it will inform you when you go over your character limits!

So again keep an eye on your characters count as there is nothing uglier than running into three dot’s at the end of the tile or Meta description in the SERP’s.

Example:

KEYWORD PHARES 1 | KEYWORD PHRASE 2 | KEYWORD PHRASE 3 | KEYWORD PHRASE 4 | KEYWORD PHRASE 5 | KEYWORD….
Keyword phrase description 1 | keyword phrase description 2 | keyword phrase description 3 | keyword phrase description 4 | keyword phrase description 5 | keyword phrase description….
www.site.com

So you get what I mean those ugly three … in your title or Meta – avoid it!! That should cover the basic title + Meta set up for the new sties!

CONTENT!

All right – now I’m not saying you CAN’T rank pages with little or no content on top but I am saying it’s harder to do so.

IMO each site that is just getting first off-site SEO done should have at least 5 quality articles as well as basic on-site set up already covered before starting off site. If it’s still not done then wait till you finish your on-site to move on to the next step.

So make sure to use your URL’s (permalink structure /%postname%/ or /%category%/%postname%/ worked best for me so far) to put in the KEYWORD’s there when making new articles/posts.

Next and this goes for ALL pages of your site – use 1 x H1 tag, 1 x H2 tag, 1 x H3 tag –again put your KEYWORD’s in your H tags. Also don’t use multiple h1 or h2 tags as it’s not going to help your on-site SEO.

If you’re adding images to your site (and you should – just make sure they are royalty free as a law suit is just not worth it) you can add your keyword or keyword phrase to ‘alt tag’ as well.

Lastly make sure you have unique content (best 1000 words or so) with KEYWORD density 1.5-2% as well as KEYWORD in first and last sentence of the article posted on your new site. You can if you wish also mark your KEYWORD’s with bold, italic etc.

My advice would be as you’re starting the off- page SEO to gradually keep adding KEYWORD targeted 1000+ word articles every 2-3 days to your site till you reach first page. Then you can take it down a notch and go for one let’s say every 5 days. Once you’re on the top you can add one very 7-14 days as you’ve already built some authority and trust to your site.

Just try to cover as many different but related to your topic KEYWORD’s as you can!

Also if you’re creating your content or writing your articles in Word – make sure to paste them to notepad before placing them on your site. Word uses some special characters that will create a mess when copied to your site directly.

ON-SITE LINKS

I’m sure that if you’re building an affiliate page or using CPA/AdSense that you’re dying to add the links to your new site BUT I’d suggest you to stay patient till you reach the rankings you want and then slowly add the affiliate/cpa/AdSense links in!

I know this is hard but it’s much harder to rank a brand new site with no content and 5 affiliate links on the home page -

So just wait it out till you get to page 1 to add your links and make sure to cloak them!

I wouldn’t advise to going over 3 ads per page but it’s up to you.

If you do feel like adding any external links to your page you can always use to good old Wikipedia trick to gain some trust. Find the closest article in Wikipedia about your site’s topic and link to it using you anchor text. Don’t post this link anywhere that’s a really call to action but just mention it contextually.

DESIGN

If you’re using AdSense and making some money with it chance are you’ll get a manual review within the first 2-3 months. And there is one thing manual reviews love and it’s good design.

No worries you don’t have to be a talented web designer to pass it just make sure to make the site look pretty user friendly, have nice easy to use navigation as well as some appealing and topic related pics.

And make sure you get a logo made! This doesn’t have to be a huge item, you can get one for $5 on Fiverr that will do the job.

Also add a Favicon to add a more personalize touch to your site.

SITE ARCHITECTURE

This plays a huge role as well and it can mess up many factors. Some themes are buggier the others, harder to rank, some load faster and some hove a ton of unused CSS on them.

So make sure to choose a light theme that is updated by the developer and that yourself know how to modify.

Also make sure to have as little unrelated links coming off your site (like link to wordpress.com and to your theme creator etc, try to keep it as clean as possible).

Oh yeah and don’t add “tag cloud” to your page – it kills on-site SEO

Forgot to mention canonical tag, it’s must, but if you get one of the two plugins mentioned above (Yoast or all in one seo) you’ll be covered.

SITE SPEED

One more pretty big on site factor that often remains neglected. You can speed up your site using many different tricks for zipping up the files, to losing some of the features to cleaning up the css but I love the simple to implement advice you can get on this page (and test your site as well) http://www.gtmetrix.com/

PLUGINS

I’m not really a huge fan of having tons of plugins but here are some I consider to be mandatory

Akismet – blocks your site from tons of unwanted comments

All in One Webmaster – simple way to add all the codes you need to your site

Exploit Scanner – comes in handy to keep the security tight

Google XML Sitemaps – a must have

Google XML Sitemap for Images –not many people use this but I ranked my images high with and get some visitors over Google images as well easy to set up and you can submit sitemap to webmaster after it

SEOPressor- the most easy way to KEYWORD optimize your post

Shockingly Simple Favicon – this plug doesn’t lie, it really is shockingly simple

WP Super Cache I just prefer it over W3 Total Cache as I get better results but of course you can go for any one of those two

WordTwit – this one is pretty cool if you have a Twitter account as it automatically tweets (and you can re-tweet as well) about your posts

WP Smush.it – one more for site speed as it reduces your image

ROBOTS

Make sure to block the folders of your site you don’t want to be seen as some serious damage can come from it! So set up your robots.txt

Hope to hear your opinions and suggestions on this article, through comments.

Google Inc (GOOG) announced a 2-for-1 stock split designed to preserve the control of co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin over the No. 1 Web search engine, as it posted revenue in line with estimates.

Google reported a profit of $2.89 billion on revenue of $10.65 billion in the quarter ended on March 31. The Internet giant’s stock price rose slightly to $652.80 a share in after-hours trading that followed release of the news.

Google said its board of directors has approved a dividend of stock to existing shareholders that it calls a 2-for-1 stock split, preserving its corporate structure.

The announcement came just as Page completed a year in the chief executive’s seat for the second time, during which he spearheaded the $12.5 billion acquisition of Motorola Mobility and launched a social network to take on Facebook.

Google remains one of the last few major technology corporations to resist calls to pay a cash dividend. Last month, Apple Inc gave in to investor pressure to pay a dividend as the company’s cash pile grew to almost $100 billion.
