Jon talk about the role HR can and should play in helping organisations chart a new course through recessionary times.<br><br>The recession is really biting now. <br><br>In the UK, <a href="http://www.woolworthsblog.co.uk/" target="_blank">Woolworths</a> are relaunching, but this time online (what will that mean for employees/skill sets etc?) and in Ireland, Diageo have put their previously announced €650 million <a href="http://www.leinsterleader.ie/news/Guinness-reviewing-its-plans-for.4897673.jp" target="_blank">investment in new brewery operations on hold</a>. <br><br>But the recession is now truly global in nature too – for example, it has also been announced that more than 20m rural migrant workers in China have lost their jobs. <br><br><a href="http://www.weforum.org/en/index.htm" target="_blank">The World Economic Forum</a> has called for the global economic system to be rebuilt, but as yet there is no clear solution to the current "crisis of capitalism". <br><br>We discuss what businesses need to do to work through and get themselves out of these extremely difficult times. And of course, we will be consider HR’s role in helping their businesses do this.<br>
