Its easy to prepare, if you have the patience to cut the vegetables. The more uniform the veggies are cut, the better its appearance before serving. Just serve it up with some microwaved papads and your kids would love it. Avial goes also well with appams and the next time you go to ECP in Singapore, try it at the Mango Tree. While the cococut content is excessive and the grind not smooth at the Mango Tree, atleast you'll get to taste it before you try your hand cooking it. When you do it ofcourse, the ingredients are in your control!

Morekuzhambu & curry leaf chutney

The next podcast is all about dishes using yoghurt. The first speciality that comes to my mind is morekuzhambu, a dish that can be had both with rice as well as side dishes to south indian varieties such as idli, dosai and vadai. It is also getting popular with idiappam. For those who want to taste it before trying it, there are a few outlets in Singapore where you can get it. Komala Vilas serves it for lunch on certain days and it can also be found at places where Kerala Cuisine is served. I made some chutney by grinding curry leaves with spices to go along with it. As before, enjoy the photos till I get my podcast published.

Tamil Podcast # 2 - Rasams

Now the podcast for the rasams are ready and can be downloaded using iPodder or iTunes. Worth blogging, though it is difficult to register a site in it if you donot publish in Tamil. It is quite tough still with Murasu editor and I'm sure I'll get used to it over the next few days. May be then I can alternate between ????? (if your browser displays junk characters then take it as Tamil!) and English!. This experience further validated my conviction that a Tamil podcast is easier to get more tamilians involved in a participative mode than it being one way.

By the way, Try Murasu publishing tools and they intelligently interpret English keys into Tamil letters!

First Podcast in Tamil - 17 Jul 05

This my first podcast for veggie lovers in Tamil.

I have discussed approaches to prepare rasavangi and mandarin orange pacchidi. This podcast being the first of the series, has an introduction note as well. I have also talked about an easy craft "caterpillar" which we can get our kids to do.

Listen to the podcasts using a supporting software such as iPodder. I am still trying to find out why this feedburner url is not directly working in iTunes subscription. However when you use iPodder, it transfers it to iTunes as a playlist directly. You can also use other media players.

To subscribe, use the url http://feeds.feedburner.com/talkingveggie in your podcast downloader. This site also supports RSS. Use browsers such as Firefox and check the latest without having to get to the website. For RSS subscriptions use the url http://talkingveggie.blogspot.com/atom.xml if Firefox does not recognize the RSS feed automatically. You can also use other RSS aggregators.

Do not forget to give me your feedback and I look for your support and participation.

Welcome;Vanakkam

Welcome to all veggie lovers who have a keen interest in vegetarian cooking. I have started this blog to share ideas on interesting vegetarian dishes. Being an Indian by race, I'll start with Indian, specifically South Indian cooking. Eventually I hope this expands to other cuisines as well with your participation.

The highlight of the blog is going to be the podcasts in Tamil, which I hope will turn out to be an interesting and exciting approach to share ideas and converse on topics of interests.

I hope you enjoy this blog and find its contents useful.
