This is a test of the Googles mount for a ContourHD POV webcam. The camera has been attached to the strap of the googles and which are around the motorcycle Helmet. I recorded the movie in HD 720 P (1280 x 720) 30 fps edited it in Adobe Prem Elements 7.0 and then rendered it to mp4 for upload to blip

Synopis

Matt Fitzhardinge from Launch HelmetCams was showcasing their VIO POV1.5 at the aupov09 Conference and he let me take it for a spin.

I also attached one of my visivox external microphones to see how it work.

This is an awesome POV camera, very high build and video quality. One issue I encountered was that it uses the *.avi container with the divx codec which I had to install to view the videos. Adobe Prem Elements 4 would not edit the video even after I had installed the divx codec so I converted it to the DV Video codec using Super and it imported fine.
I exported the final edited video to mp4 for upload to blip.tv and archive.org for the vodcast link.

Synopsis

For some reason or other the use of point-of-view video creation technologies seems to have taken off with a bang whereas two years ago it was a great idea but not seeing a great deal of uptake. Maybe the BBC PeepShow are now making room for edu-innovators into the foyer of fleeting stardom ?

What's for certain though is times have changed ......bandwidth is marginally cheaper and the onus on digital literacy is coming to the fore.

Geoff Lubich, mechanics Lecturer at Pilbara TAFE seems to have managed to massage the trade, the technology and the politics ( onward from Gary Lienert a few years back ) just well enough to see his entire college and many other Australia wide delving into whats possible.

Check out Geoff's latest live test recording in aUstream live test today of cam glasses with wireless transmission back to personal computer and web recorded onto Ustream ......mind boggles.
